Bookshops and Bonedust is unfair. It’s unfair and I want to throw it. But it’s such a good book actually I just have very big feelings about it. Spoilers below the cut.
Viv is such a great character. She is strong and fearless, still kinda gets humbled, but she is the strong yet feminine yet arrogant orc I always wanted. She is balanced and cool and so *human* in such ways. I relate to her way too hard. And I so so so wanted her and Maylee to work out (I didn’t know this was the prequel to Legends and Lattes) the end killed me inside.
The quote, “One had gone up, and the other down, and the crossing would not be repeated.” WRECKED me. Like please. Can someone tell me why that hurt me so bad. I’m married with my soulmate, but that quote fucking ruined me. God it’s such a good book.

hi! in your opinion what are the best books to eat?? btw I am definitely not a book worm haha.
You know how geologists lick rocks? Well, librarians don’t actually do that with books.
HOWEVER, in our professional opinion (no, really, this information comes from our Preservation department), a nice leather- or vellum-bound book would top the list of delicacies.
Book-eaters tend to go for leather and cloth binding, as well as starch or animal glues, so modern trade paperbacks aren’t as tasty... but book pests will still settle for “fast food" in a pinch, so modern books still need to watch their bindings!
As an aside, did you know that bookworms are actually hundreds of different insects?

𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗗𝗮𝘆 📖
The purpose of World Book Day is to provide every child with a book of their own, which the charity does by supplying children with book tokens. Children can then pick a book from a selection of authors, which they get to keep.
World Book Day was created by UNESCO on 23rd April 1995 as a worldwide celebration of books and reading. It is marked in over 100 countries around the globe. The first World Book Day in the UK and Ireland took place in 1997 to encourage young people to discover the pleasure of reading.

reading edmund white is experiencing the grief of years and years of gay men of the 1900's. gloriously depressing and deliciously deviant. i have just about two short stories left of the current novel collection i own of him, and it seems that its a growing crescendo of gruesome and ghoulish realities smeared in homosexual history.
dm me if youve ever read edmund white and would like to discuss him with me. sometimes i drive myself nearly mad having no one to talk to about things. sometimes ill get someone to read a book i really loved, and theyll nonchalantly agree with whatever blabber i expel and say "it was good", like such a sentence is all that can suffice. im dying!!

How Writing Short Stories Can Improve Your Novel Writing Skills (And Writing In General)
Before we begin, I’d just like to announce my cyberpunk short’s acceptance into the Fish Eats Lion Redux anthology which, for me, puts the rad into my trad-publishing ambitions. I’m pretty proud of this piece, since Singaporeans were given priority for acceptance, and here I am, a random Malaysian, just trying to belong among the […]How Writing Short Stories Can Improve Your Novel Writing Skills…

Hey you, yeah you, stop scrolling looking for a book community. We got you covered!! The Lounge is an 18+ server created for adults who LOVE to read, to hang out, meet new people, create new friendships, find new books and just be who they are within a safe space.
We have a variety of topics to discuss with like minded people ranging from many genres of books, book news, book activities, music, movies, and tv to more in depth topics such as parenting, traveling, and cooking.
We also have some niche topics such as ghost hunting and true-crime junkie discussions. So even if your tastes aren't 'main stream' we gladly welcome you with open arms.
We are wanting to start introducing events such as book of the month, movie time, monthly voice chats, game nights and more, however we need our numbers and interest in these events to grow.
We would love for you to come check us out and give us a chance to be your online stomping ground.
A note from the Staff:
This server is a welcoming place but there are boundaries that staff have set that a member should NOT cross:
- if you wouldn't do it in public don't do it online
- trigger warnings are used for the most egregious of topics
- personal phobias are not the responsibility of the server
- misunderstanding should be clarified to avoid conflict
We will see you in The Lounge!!
