Well guys, I’m not a video editor and I haven’t created any vids in over a year, but this is my first time using CapCut! I wanted to share this short thing about my trip to the book fair a while ago (yes I tend to share events a long time after they’re over) as a kind of practice for using the app for future content hopefully.
Watch it and tell me what you think and what could be improved to make it more interesting. I’m worried it might be slow or boring to some? I’m not sure so let me know. All constructive criticism is welcome 🤗

I miss the nostalgia of going to the book fair. The excitement of leaving class to go see all the new books and accessories. Begging your parents for money to buy the one book you’ve been wanting.

Internet horror superstar Trevor Henderson has written a children’s horror novel titled Scarewaves. It will be published in hardcover, e-book, and audio book on October 3 via Scholastic.
Aimed at readers aged 9-12, the 208-page book features cover art and 26 interior drawings by Henderson. Inspired by Goosebumps, it follows group of kids in the small town of Beacon Point being stalked by monsters.
The synopsis is below, where you can also see Henderson's old art featuring one of the novel's many antagonists.
Tumblr media
The small town of Beacon Point has always been plagued by eerie local phenomena. It’s a town where disappearances are common, strange creatures have been sighted with unnerving frequency, and a ghastly secret lurks in the woods.
The adults in town are oblivious to these strange occurrences. Others prefer not to talk or even think about them. But over the course of several terrifying nights, a group of kids will come face to face with the horrors hiding within their sleepy town. Guided by the mysterious radio host Alan Graves, they must follow the clues to a terrifying secret before it eats them alive.
Pre-order Scarewaves by Trevor Henderson.

Book fair haul and the picture of one of the lovely stand that was in the middle of a bunch of plants and trees!

Not a productivity day but a good day. I was very excited to spend the day at the book fair with my mom. It was really fun even though there were so many people (I don't deal very well with v crowded places but even though I had a couple of unpleasant head spins I am happy with how I managed). I was hoping to find a specific book I didn't find, but I will get it elsewhere. I did find some pretty random gems like the graphic novel about Mary Shelly and the book about hobbits, and I am so excited to read them!
Productivity:
Finished reading De Profundis by Oscar Wilde
Listened to the latest re:dracula episode
Continued listening to old episodes of the books unbound podcast
Practiced Irish on duolingo
Self care:
Read first thing in the morning
Book fair with mom! (It was very good because I spent quality time with my mom, I got out of the house and faced one of my fears which is crowded spaces and of course I got myself some new books which is always the best kind of self care)
📖: De Profundis by Oscar Wilde
🎵: Love Is A by PVRIS (I could lie and say I didn't have this on repeat since yesterday, but I am obsessed)

Acquired this first edition of Charlotte Brontë’s Shirley at last month’s New York International Antiquarian Book Fair - it was complete luck that I saw the volumes in one of the cases. The text blocks show their age, but they were beautifully rebound in leather around the turn of the 20th century.
It was such an overwhelming feeling when I opened one and saw the first page with the year and the publisher.
So many amazing things at this Fair! I highly recommend checking it out next year if you are in the area.

My book Diana & Charlie just got published in German by Luftschach verlag, and I got invited to visit Vienna!
I went to the book fair Buch Wien, got interviewed on stage and had a book signing afterwards. I also had a book talk at Universität Wien for students who had been reading my book for their Swedish studies. I got interviewed for Austrian radio. (You can read the article here!) Fianlly, I was invited to visit the Swedish embassy - a both very nice and surreal experience!
This visit was really fantastic... I've always considered my work pretty niche, so getting this kind of recognition is a bit hard for me to grasp, haha. Regardless, I'm thankful, of course. I hope I get to visit Vienna again sometime.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this visit possible, and thank you to the readers that came up to me! You were so sweet!! <3
