So! This was the team James built up during his 18 months in Hisui.

Of these, Bonnie (the Weavile) was the only one that managed to end up in Hisui with him and the rest of the team was built up mostly out of circumstance and chance. James wasn't thinking about team structure or really anything other than defending himself.

Though the majority of these Pokemon would choose to return back to the present time with him, Kuma (the Ursaring) would decline the offer and live the rest of his days in Hisui, as would Toshio (the Zoroark). Yao (the Misdreavus) was also accidentally left in Hisui as he escaped his ball shortly before James and Jasmine returned to the present, though fortunately due to the fact ghost types can live centuries if not longer, James managed to meet up with him in modern day Sinnoh.

Kuma did not evolve into Ursaluna simply because James had no real idea of how he evolved and would have had no interest in seeking it out even if he did.

Dawn still wasn’t entirely sure where Azrael learned his dance moves from. They were clearly from Fortnite, but it wasn’t a game Dawn had ever played. She just figured it came up in a video on the cats’ tablet, and it all spiraled from there. He made it a point to even dance on Cynthia’s Garchomp whenever he knocked it out in battle, thankfully to the former Champion’s amusement at least.

Even still, no matter what pokemon he KO’d, he would always dance. Like right now, he had knocked out a pokemon over triple his size, and was dancing in place.

“For what it’s worth, I have no idea where he learned it from. I didn’t teach him that.” Weavile were agile, and they were smart. It wasn’t surprising in the slightest, at least. “I think he saw it on a YouTube video or something. I have a little tablet that my cats use pretty often. Honestly, if your Weavile ever wanted to learn, I’m sure he’d teach them. He’s a chaos goblin.”

I have many a good man or woman who can help lure or take out anyone you need, for a fee of course...~ How much is this man's head worth to you~?"

Ah yes. Bonnie. She was aware of the Black Family from having to be very weary of the pockets of control in Southern Unova. In fact, the Arcadium Alliance was formed to stamp out any potential of influence from gangs like her. For someone so young, she expressed a lot of potential.

One thing Haines found amusing was her weirdly good public image. Chung jokingly called her the mafia don with an PR department. While it was smart to not have your dark side bleed into your public life to make you look clean as possible, the way she went about having a public face was too much.

“You do huh?” Haines did not even try to address her demeanor. Chung, who was also in the room with her, could not believe how detached Haines sounded. “I remember when I to took pleasure in hits.” To anyone who knew the delphox this seemed like a strong person moping. “My tastes for that kind of work changed. I enjoy the coordination and planning, rather than the hit itself anymore. I have moved on to higher cuisine.”

There was the Haines everyone knew about, her sinister air returning. “While I want Frederick dead, I want to go one step further. I want his network of support to implode from the weight of his many mistakes he thought he could make go away. Mistakes that I have helped him make go away coming back because I know his many secrets. This needs to be less an assassination and more of an annihilation. Do you have the taste for that?”

At this point her purple prose was getting self-sabotaging, so Chung stepped in. “Sorry about that monologue.” The pinsir chuckled, which drew a sharp glare from his co-leader. “Behind all that...I don’t know what I would I call it, she says she is interested in your help. And I am to. Provided your terms are reasonable. We could use any hands in getting hid of the Bohemian Company.”

The fire type sighed. “Despite my colleague’s bluntness, yes I will accept your help. But what are your terms?”

Was that a smirk on Hannibal’s lips? Even if small, the Weavile hybrid would definitely be able to see it in the dark corner they sat in. The trembling Grimmsnarl didn’t even question how this lady knew Anester, he knew that his oldest brother knew some... characters. Characters he didn’t like, quite frankly, but this one seemed nice at least, so Hannibal let it slide. Perhaps she and Anester could cross paths while she was at their mansion. At the very least, for now, he could try and be hospitable.

Nikky was kinda surprised for receiving a compliment from a random pedestrian, and although he doesn’t trust people at the get-go when they’re being too sociable, he couldn’t help but actually feel flattered, besides, it ain’t like Bonnie was some junkie or drunkard laying on the sidewalk not worth paying attention to, as he would usually walk by. In fact she looked like she had something in mind for approaching him, or it could might as well be casual, either way it wasn’t an unpleasant experience.

Do you have any headcanons about Alan and his other Pokémon (Tyranitar, Weavile, etc.)?

Hm, a little!

General:

Alan tends to nickname his pokémon based on what they’re called in the region they originate from. This is why Lizardon is Lizardon, and was Lizardon even when he was still a charmander. The charmander line originates in Kanto, and charizard are called lizardon in Japanese. (And while Lizardon was just a little bby charmander when he was hatched, he would one day grow up to be a charizard, so Alan felt it appropriate, especially since he thought the name Lizardon sounded cool.)(Of course, I headcanon that there is a common language spoken ‘round the world, which is where there are very rarely language barriers, but I think that languages such as English, Japanese, and French still exist, even if there are no countries called England, Japan, and France in the PokéWorld. It’s complicated, but I’m doing the best with what we’ve been given.)

Unfezant was a completely illogical choice for a lot of reasons (not the least of which is that wild pidove / tranquill / unfenzant are not found in Kalos, whereas wild noctowl are), so I’ve replaced it with the much more fitting noctowl. It makes more sense given that wild noctowl can be found in Kalos (meaning he’d actually be able to catch it), and it makes symbolic and thematic sense as well, in that owls are often a symbol of wisdom and scholarship, and Alan himself has background as a researcher and is quite knowledgeable about many things. I have a couple other reasons as well, but yeah, that’s the basic gist of why unfezant is out and noctowl is in.

Metagross:

Nickname: Meta

Meta was a gift from Steven in the form of a beldum egg, most likely gifted after the events of TSME 3, before Alan departed back to Kalos. We do know that they spoke, after all (Steven says that Alan told him that he had left Manon behind for her safety), and since they were in Hoenn Steven would have had convenient access to a beldum egg. It makes the most sense that he bequeathed the egg on Alan then, but that we just didn’t learn of this until we see Meta as a metang later.

Meta tends to be sweet and earnest. They’re still very young—not even a year old yet!—which is part of why they’ve lost more battles than they’ve won on-screen. Nevertheless, Meta is quite attached to Alan and Lizardon, and wants to make them proud. This is why they evolved as quickly as they did, as well as why they keep trying their hardest in battles even if they end up losing.

Meta can be a bit sensitive about being bulky and slow, which is part of why Alan trained them in the Agiligross strategy. It’s both a good strategy, and it helps make Meta feel better by showing them that they can be fast if they work at it. It’s a morale booster.

Tyranitar:

Nickname: Bangiras (Ban-Ban according to Bonnie and Manon)

Bangiras was captured as a pupitar while Alan was training in Terminus Cave. This is partly because pupitar and tyranitar are good pokémon, and partly because Bangiras saw Alan training, decided that Alan knew what he was doing and was a good trainer, and thus decided that he was going to test himself against Lizardon and Meta and beat them both and prove he was The Best™. This, as you could guess, did not end well for Bangiras, who was defeated rather soundly … but rather than leave him injured there on the cave floor, Alan caught him and took him to the nearest PokéCenter, where he was healed up and joined the team. So like, it was a standard capture, just not for standard reasons.

Bangiras tends to be proud and takes losing pretty hard. He’s also a bit resentful of Lizardon because he wants to be the ace of the team and doesn’t think Lizardon deserves to be. For the most part Lizardon ignores this (and isn’t even really aware of the extent to which Bangiras resents him), but he never turns down Bangiras’ challenges if they’re issued (even as Alan wearily says that they’re on the same team and shouldn’t be fighting, so please sit down, Bangiras).

Despite being a proud tough guy, he’s fond of kids, and thus doesn’t mind when Bonnie and Manon call him “Ban-Ban” (or when they start singing “Getta Ban Ban” around him as a result …).

Weavile:

Nickname: Manyula

Manyula was captured as a seansel while Alan was training on Route 17. She kept trying to steal things from Alan’s pack, thinking she was very sneaky and clever, but he kept capturing her in the act, which usually led to him having to chase her down for a little bit to get back whatever it was she stole. This game continued for a couple of days until he finally just captured her out of exasperation. At first she was a bit salty about this, but upon realizing that being his pokémon meant that she could have as many treats as she wanted (within reason—he makes sure his pokémon eat good diets), she was fine with it.

She’s very mischievous, as you can tell, and often tries to sneak treats away from the other pokémon through various cunning schemes that, half the time, don’t work. She gets an E for Effort at least.

Bisharp:

Nickname: Sharp

Sharp was captured as a pawniard while Alan was exploring the Lost Hotel. Or, well, “exploring”; Alan originally went into the Lost Hotel to seek shelter from a sudden pulse storm, but once he was in there he couldn’t help but explore it. It was during this exploration that Sharp found him. Sharp was extremely proud and territorial, and tried to oust Alan from the Lost Hotel through battle … with no success. (Note: Sharp originally tried to battle Alan, to the point where he kept trying to go around Lizardon and the others.) Sharp was defeated and felt that he would have to exile himself in disgrace, but rather than let him do that (or something more drastic), Alan captured him to get his wounds healed instead.

Sharp, like Bangiras, can be rather proud, but in a different way. Rather than wanting to be recognized as the best, Sharp simply wants to be the best to uphold his honor. He gets very upset (and somewhat dramatic) when he feels he has disgraced his own honor in some way.

He’s the one who most frequently falls for Mayula’s schemes.

Noctowl:

Nickname: Yoru

Yoru was captured as a noctowl while Alan was training on Route 20. Or specifically, she kept following him around Route 20, watching him, and eventually led him to the Pokémon Village. He spent some time there, and at the end of it, Yoru kept blocking his attempts to leave until he captured her.

Yoru is the oldest member of the team, and is potentially even older than Alan himself. (In fact, this is likely.) As such, she tends to try to watch out for the others, like a watchful mother or grandmother. Though she can be stern about what she thinks is best for the others (i.e. she’s not above using Hypnosis to make Alan sleep if he’s pushing himself), it all comes from a place of love and care.

She often uses Bangiras’ head as a perch. He grumbles about this as much as you would expect.

Alan often uses her to scout, particularly since she can fly silently.

Though she loves flying, she also likes riding around on Meta, who is more than happy to give her rides.

I also like to imagine that, at some point (perhaps while, I don’t know, vacationing in Alola), he captures:

Mimikyu:

Nickname: Kyuu

Kyuu was captured when Alan went to the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart for some solitude and quiet. Of course, the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart is not as abandoned as it first appears, but …

Kyuu is quite shy and timid, but she could tell both that Alan was having a difficult time (for reasons that, well, are #spoilers right now), and since she knows that feeling and can relate, she approached him. Alan ended up taking her back with him even before officially capturing her, because she gave him the biggest pair of pleading eyes she could even with her costume when he was about to leave, and so he let her ride back on his lap. When he got back, he realized that she either needed a pokéball or needed to be sent back, so … he caught her.

Her favorite place to sit is on Alan’s lap, but she’ll settle for his shoulder if she has to. Despite her attachment to Alan, she’s not jealous of Lizardon at all, particularly since it’s not like he’s small enough to sit on Alan’s lap instead of her anyway.

She’s quite strong, but battling’s not her favorite thing. Usually after defeating an opponent she’ll immediately try to go back and jump into Alan’s arms again, and has to be reminded that there are still other opponents to be taken care of first.

Hoenn, Companions, Blizzard, Hex Maniac, Poke snacks!! ( phew!!)

Hoenn: Sapphire definitely! was the first Pokemon game I bought myself.

Companions: as companions go, Misty, Brock, May, Max, Dawn, Cilan, Iris, Bonnie, Korrina (she traveled with them a bit), Mallow & Lillie. It’s a lot but I love these characters. :D

Blizzard: Weavile! so fast and it’s so cute!

Hex Maniac: Gengar

Poke Snacks: I would say Poke Puffs. :)
