When I Started: It was the night before the s5 finale, so May 2022

How I Lost My Shit: So initially I signed up with another WIP, one that’s been a whole year in the making but it turns out longfic WILL drain your soul when everything in your life is going wrong. So I started multiple fics as a “break” before making it to the big fic. Thus, the tango fic was born. Two days before the deadline to drop from the bang entirely, I swapped fics and then I continued not to write anything for almost a month.

How I Finished My Shit: the tango fic became the mariachi fic and then became the 5+1 music fic and then it kept getting ridiculously funny but only for me until I told the besties. And the moment I told someone else about my silly little fic I had an epiphany and finished it in like 3 days. Sure, this was not what I signed up with, but my previous WIP got a staggering 10k extra (when it hadn’t moved in almost a year), and on top of that I wrote 14k of pure silliness that makes me (and the besties) happy.

Special thanks to the people in the server who sprinted with me at odd hours, to the mods for organizing this and to the person who makes 911 edits with bollywood lyrics that make me want to bite someone.

This story is dedicated to Maura and Ro for reading and giving me their perspectives on the fic, for being the most supportive friends ever, and it doubles as an apology for dragging you to 911 hell with me.

Also to my mom, who will not read this, but whose choice of music when I was growing up gave me a certain no sé qué impossible to translate.
