 "Hey Bob, do you like Phoenix?" You ask Bob who almost drops a wrench on his face as he tightens a couple of interior bits of his jet. You were lounging at the hangar as the north island sun sets, painting the California sky a bright orange hue. "Yeah, I mean, what's not to like?" Bob's voice echoes because his head is literally inside the machinery, closely improving the gears and whatnot from within. "Hm. That's true. When are you confessing?" You try not to make your jealousy show. They'd make a great couple in your opinion, wincing at the thought. There was silence from Bob. You guess he's trying to mentally check for a good timing of when to tell Natasha. You wish you hadn't asked because his prolonged silence was choking you.

"Why do you ask?" He crouches down all of a sudden, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose and meeting your awkward expression before you had a chance to reorganize your face and feelings. Jolting up from the makeshift hangar lazyboy, your hands immediately grab at your hair, fixing the nonexistent mess. "Well its just-" You stumble at your words at Bob's unexpected attention. You usually have to psych up yourself before making eye contact with the man because have you seen him? "I got this voucher card from a flower shop and its expiring soon. I don't have anyone to give flowers to so I figured you should have it instead." "Hm. I don't have anyone to give flowers too" Bob shrugs, moving to sit on the wooden crate he was previously standing on under the jet's belly. Huh. Men can be dense like that, Natasha once said. "You can send it to N-" You couldn't bring yourself to say her name out loud. "To the girl you're in love with!" You fumble down your pockets to locate the folded up flower shop card. Having about eight pockets on your flightsuit wasn't always convenient. "Aha!" you whisper to yourself upon feeling it at the bottom leg pocket. You unfold it before handing it to your favourite weapons system operator. Bob hops off the wooden crate and stands before you. "Now, I can't take take that from you!" He says, smiling his sideways smile with some hint of mischief. What's he up to? "What? Why not?" He leaves your hand holding the card hanging awkwardly over the armrest. "Its like you're sending flowers for yourself!" He suddenly crouches down in front of you, his face incredibly close to yours, green eyes behind lenses swimming into your own. Women can be dense like that, Bob quotes Hangman in his head. Your mind immediately makes the conclusion, but your heart is too afraid to acknowledge. Your arm starts to feel numb because its still handing Bob the flower shop card. "But if you insist..." Bob plucks the card from between your fingers. I have a pet peeve to do with writing sometimes

So when you write something where you or a character is drawing out the length of the word

Please

Do so in a way you can actually pronounce, it not only makes it better to read aloud and more consistent, it's generally more aesthetically pleasing as well

As a general rule if you don't wanna have to check every time, you can draw out vowel sounds, and not consanat sounds. Tho of course there are a few exceptions and they all have to do with the shape of your mouth and how it makes the sound

Letters like a, e, I, o, u and h, are open sounds, you pronounce them with an almost or completely open mouth (the sounds they make not the letters themselves), these are letters you can draw out as long as you can breath out

Most consonant letters rely on changing the shape of your mouth to make the sound (think B, C, K, D, J, P, etc) these make up a good amount of letters and are letters you can't draw out at all

Some consonants have some interesting qualities, M, N, F and S while are not open sounds are letters you can hold because you don't move your mouth when you say them (you can read mmmm or sssnake and know exactly how those sound even tho the consonants are extended) its much less common for N and F but you can hold those sounds
