you're not good for my soul; the one who cares less always has control. well, I'm taking that back, and you'll be amazed, 'cause I only get better looking with age
I am not inherently compelled by Starfield's universe, but I have no real expectations, so I'm willing to let the funni Garfield game change my mind come September 5th.
Most of Razorblade by Blue October is explicitly about sexual abuse, which isn’t how I see Hunter’s deal (many, many other kinds of abuse, just not that one…) but it still has some lyrics that are painfully on point for him.
Did this one pretty quickly and intentionally left it rough, for the ‘raw’ vibe and also just because I wanted to get it out.
Cupid's got a needle.
It'll find a vein.
Careful, 'cause you'll bleed a little.
But pretty soon romance will marinate your brain.

Dazai, Licht, Keith, and Kanetsugu all running into each other at a Blue October concert --
A friend recently introduced me to the band Blue October. (Yes, they've been around since 1995 and I've only heard of them just now.)
Each song I listen to brings to mind a character from the otome games I play (Tears of Themis, Ikemen Vampire, Ikemen Sengoku, Ikemen Prince, etc.)
Another song, another sad boi.
Dazai pops up more often than the rest because so many of the lyrics deal with suicidal thoughts, addiction, self-medicating, self-hatred, and depression. Especially during the song Hate Me. Also, Chameleon Boy suits Dazai very well.
But others pop into mind as well.
Keith is evoked when I listen to Picking Up Pieces. His awkwardness, the bought of fading in and out of consciousness, the constant anxiety of being good enough.
Kanetsugu, with his worry of letting his rage get the better of him? The song Fear captures that.
Luke (Tears of Themis, not IkePri) anticipating his impending death and he'll have to leave Rosa is summed up in I Hope You're Happy.
Licht ... well, we all know his deal ... there are many songs that fit him well.
Even Yoshimoto comes to mind when the lyrics speak of a world that no longer needs him.
Nokto's recklessness. Isaac's anxiety and struggle with being wanted. Charles's raw need for a love he doesn't understand. Arthur's worry about being good enough or worthwhile enough. Mitsuhide's pain of scrabbling in the darkness.
And so many other sad bois.
Blue October isn't really the sort of band that makes fun, happy songs you can blast at a party. It's the sort of music you listen to only on your earpods, in private.
So can you imagine the AWKWARDNESS when a bunch of our otome sad bois accidentally bump into one another at a Blue October concert?? 😅
There'd be a few seconds of weird silence. Keith and Licht staring at their feet. Kanetsugu quietly grinding his teeth. Finally Dazai exclaims something silly, to which Yoshimoto replies something equally inappropriate. And the ice is broken.
