Disney+ Series ‘The Mandalorian,’ ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Loki’ Coming to Blu-ray and 4K UHD Later This Year
The formerly streaming-only titles are now physical
Tumblr media
Some of your favorite Disney+ streaming series from Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios are getting the physical media treatment later this year with new Blu-ray and 4K UHD releases of the first two seasons of Lucasfilm’s live-action “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian” as well as Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision” and the first season of “Loki.”
“Loki” will be available on Sept. 26, “WandaVision” will be available on Nov. 28, and the first two seasons of “The Mandalorian” will be available on Dec. 12. The titles will be available on Collector’s Edition 4K UHD and Blu-ray, “featuring Steelbook packaging, concept art cards and some never-before-seen bonus features.” The Steelbook edition will feature brand-new box art designed by artist Attila Szarka and collectible concept art cards. (People love their Steelbooks!)
The special features for the “Loki” release include “Designing the TVA” which features production designer Kasra Farahani and Tom Hiddleston (and contains a look at the upcoming season 2); the Miss Minutes TVA orientation video; deleted scenes (including a moment that introduces Frog Thor); a gag reel; and the “Assembled” documentary (another former Disney+ exclusive). Special features for the other releases will be shared at a later date.
“The Mandalorian” debuted with the rest of Disney+ on November 12, 2019. It quickly became the flagship series for the company’s direct-to-consumer streaming platform and inspired a whole host of spin-offs, including “The Book of Boba Fett” and “Ahsoka” (premiering this Tuesday on Disney+).
“WandaVision” was the first Marvel Studios Disney+ series, which debuted on the platform on January 15, 2021. “Loki” debuted several months later on June 9, 2021, resurrecting the Tom Hiddelston character that died at the beginning of “Avengers: Infinity War” and introducing the idea of the Multiverse. It is also the first Marvel Studios Disney+ to warrant a second season, which will start streaming in October.
Other Marvel Studios Disney+ series that followed “WandaVision” include “Moon Knight,” “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” and “Secret Invasion,” which recently wrapped.
All four of these Disney+ titles will be available to pre-order beginning on August 28.

last week i was looking at the jb hi-fi website and noticed that all of the disney films were incredibly cheap, and i thought that was really strange until today where i found out that disney is exiting the physical media market in australia ENTIRELY??? after guardians of the galaxy 3 not a SINGLE disney, pixar, marvel studios, lucasfilm, 20th century studios, or searchlight pictures film will be released physically here, and i’ll have to resort to buying the uk version online. this SUCKS. disney literally owns so much of the film industry, and now if i wanna own a film that‘s released by them, i’ll have to buy a SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive version from the uk that i’ll have to ship here!! UGH!! on the bright side every single disney film EVER is very very cheap so i’ll be able to buy a lot of the films i’ve been wanting in my collection for a much smaller price than usual, but still, this is really awful, and has BLEAK implications for the future of physical media :(

Calling All Flamengers! (...Again!)
As part of its 12 Days of Christmas sale, the UK-based anime distributor Anime Limited is offering a MASSIVE discount on Collector's Editions Blu-Rays, including their Samurai Flamenco one, which is now LESS THAN £10, specifically £8.33 (~$10.50 USD). This is much less than the £25 they discounted the set to for its 10th anniversary back in October!
The entire 22-episode series is contained across 4 discs. The only noted on-disc extras are the creditless OPs and EDs. All of this is packaged in a decorative rigid slipcase.
Anime Limited does ship outside the UK, but you will need a region-free Blu-Ray player to play discs if your region is not of the B code (comprising Europe, the Middle East, and Africa).
While it doesn't specifically say when this sale ends, since it's part of the 12 Days of Christmas sale, we can assume it will last until December 12, UK time, so don't delay! This is the only official English physical release of the anime.

I've recently learned that Disney has begun to release some of their streamed shows on Blu-ray (The Mandalorian, Loki, WandaVision). While it's probably very unlikely, it made me start to imagine how great it would be if Tron Uprising would finally get a physical release. I would love to have a box of it next to my Tron and Tron Legacy DVDs. And think of what kind of bonus features it could have! A making-of documentary? Concept art? If I really get to dream, maybe even the complete script and/or storyboards for the unproduced season finale?
On the other hand, I can also imagine that the making-of documentary might end on a slightly awkward note. "So yeah, then Disney cancelled us, but didn't say that they had cancelled us, they just sort of put us on hold forever."

So a week ago Official Blu-Ray Illustrations of Lum in various drip were revealed. Though, It was only the line art but they’ll probably reveal the fully colored versions later. But I was bored so tried coloring each of them in the remake’s color palette to make them look official for fun, and here’s the end result…
