The Blood Queen & Her King
Summary: A mysterious stranger changes the course of a nomarch's life forever. Word Count: 3,536 Rating: Mature Pairing: Gaius Augustine x Kamilah Sayeed Content Notes: Canon typical violence. Read it on AO3 It was as though he wanted it to hurt, wanted her to earn whatever it was he claimed he was going to give her.
Kamilah feared Gaius when she first met him, hated the arrogant glimmer in his eyes, wanted nothing more than to plunge a dagger deep into his chest. She had plunged a dagger deep into his chest, relishing in the way the crimson liquid spilled at his feet, into the sand, onto her dress, staining it.
Pity it hadn’t been enough. It didn’t stop him from grabbing her by the wrists, sharp, elongated teeth tearing into her neck. She hadn’t remembered screaming—though she was certain she had. But it didn’t matter. His hand clasped over her mouth, and he drank. It was pain unlike anything she’d ever experienced before, hot knives sinking into tender flesh. It didn’t subside. It was as though he wanted it to hurt, wanted her to earn whatever it was he claimed he was going to give her.
I don’t want it, she wanted to yell. There is nothing you could give me that will help me reach what I truly want.
What she truly wanted was for her brother to come back. Deep in her bones, with every Roman army she took down, every fleet she attacked, that was what she was working towards. She cognitively understood that was impossible, illogical, so she was willing to try to settle for thousands of dead Romans at her feet. She meant it when she said she would not stop until she no longer drew breath; most likely, Marc Antony would whisper into her cousin’s ear to have her executed as a traitor in order to stop her. If he hadn’t come along, that was how it was going to end.
She’d been told the story of Helen of Troy a few times when she was a child. She didn’t care for it, but as she began to lose consciousness, either from the pain or the blood loss, as she heard the sound of soldier’s feet thundering against the sand,  she thought of it again. How many ships would they launch to avenge her? How many ships would he launch if she tried to escape from his grasp?
//
Gaius brought Kamilah a gift when she woke up. He presented it to her after the worst of the shock had worn off, when she was no longer focused on the tangy, sweet, metallic taste lingering in the back of her throat, the newfound length of her canines, the hunger boiling inside of her.
She was too weak to fight him when he helped her out of the hole he’d dug for her in the desert sand, too weak to struggle against his grasp as he carried her back to her tent and set her on her feet. And worst of all, she was too hungry to react when she saw the Roman soldier chained to the chair, his mouth gagged, hatred and fury in his eyes, struggling against his bonds.
“As I promised,” Gaius said. “A gift for you.”
“One of your own men?”
“Octavian won’t miss him.” Gaius said. “And who am I to deny you such a simple pleasure?”
He didn’t have to tell her what she needed to do, what the soldier was for. She already understood, from the way the hunger turned into an ache, a demand, the way she felt her canines elongate again. She was upon the soldier before she even understood what she was doing, her fangs ripping into his throat. He must have screamed, but she didn't hear it. The taste of his blood in her mouth was better than the sweetest fruits, the finest wines. Nothing could compare to it.
But then, when the soldier slumped forward in the chair, dead and depleted, reality hit her. She’d killed plenty of roman soldiers, but never in such a grotesque way. She’d never enjoyed it the way she enjoyed this. She was scared, not because of what she had done, but because what she knew she was going to do: she would kill like this again. She would enjoy it immensely. And may the gods help whoever tried to stop her.
Kamilah tackled Gaius, hands wrapped around his throat, squeezing as hard as she could. “What did you do to me?” She demanded. She was startled by how desperate and ragged and scared her voice sounded. “What did you do to me?!”
She wished she could kill him. She tried to, squeezing down on his windpipe, hoping brute force would finally get the job done. Despite the sound of bones breaking, despite the fact that she was choking him harder than she’d ever choked anybody in her life, it didn’t matter. Because all he did was laugh.
“I made you better. Stronger.”
“You made me into a demon. Like you!”
His eyes glowed a deep, bloody red. “I made you into a god.” He grabbed her by the shoulders, easily pushing her off of him. He got back onto his feet, cracking his neck back into place.
“A god of blood.”
“Look me in the eye and tell me you didn’t enjoy draining the life out of that soldier.” Gaius said. He looked down at her, knowing full well she couldn’t. When she didn’t answer, he smiled.  “You’re scared. Angry. Confused. I understand.”
He knelt down in front of her. “But I chose you for a reason. I need someone like you.” He ran his thumb along her jaw. She jerked away from him.
“Don’t touch me.”
“Apologies, my queen.”
“And don’t call me that.”
Gaius laughed. “I like you already.”
//
Centuries later, when people asked her about it, Kamilah framed it as a sort of amusing story. The story of two perfectly matched people who had no idea what they’d come across yet. Centuries after that, long after Gaius was gone, she’d be at a business dinner or something of the sort attended by humans where there was always at least one happily married couple. Inevitably, the story of how the two of them got together would come up. It always made her heart thaw and ache, not because she was particularly prone to get emotional over that sort of thing, but because of how much it reminded her of the way she used to talk about him, which deeply alarmed her.
The story of their love began with a deal. Kamilah didn’t want to be anywhere near Gaius. She wanted to run as far away as she could. She’d take her chances out in the desert. No, she’d feast upon the Romans, making her way all the way to their capitol, making the streets run red with blood. Gaius had other plans for her, of course.
She tried to point out the obvious to get him to let her go: she was a nomarch. Her men were all dead. People would go looking for her. Not to mention, she had no desire to go anywhere with Gaius. So, what do you intend to do? She demanded. Force me by your side until you break me?
“You reject what I have to offer before you you’ve experienced it.” Gaius replied.
“I don’t want what you have to offer.”
“You don’t want power? You don’t want to be respected?”
“I am respected.”
“You’d be a vizier if not for your sex.” Gaius said. “Egypt still wouldn’t have been able to defeat the Romans under your counsel, but you wouldn’t be part of such a humiliating loss.”
“How dare you.”
“You don’t hold a deep love for your nation. You seek vengeance.” Gaius continued. “And I can give that to you.”
“Not when you fight for the Romans, you can’t.”
Gaius shook his head. “I don’t fight in human conflicts because I believe in their causes. I fight for my security. And as it stands, the Roman empire has offered me comforts that the Egyptians refused. But I’ve no true loyalty to their soldiers.”
Gaius let out a breath, moving away from Kamilah. “I know how it feels to lose somebody who means the world to you. Somebody who you can’t live without. And I take it that is what’s happened to you.”
“You don’t know the first thing about me.”
“Sorrow sings in your blood.” Gaius replied. “You seek to destroy those who destroyed whoever you lost.” He turned back to Kamilah. “I will give you what you want if you will give me what I want.”
“And what is it that you want?”
“As I’ve said. A queen. Somebody by my side. Somebody who can fight alongside me. Somebody who can help me enact my vision of the world.”
“I’ve no interest in sharing a bed with you.”
“I never said that.” Gaius said. “But I’m not finished. I can give you what you want if you stand beside me. We can look for whoever took the person you love. You can do whatever it is you wish with him.”
“You’re trying to trick me.”
“And what makes you so sure of that?”
“It’s an empty promise.” Kamilah said. “It’s a promise of searching, not of finding.”
“I don’t intend to trick you.”
“And why should I believe that?” Kamilah said.
“You don’t have a choice.”
“I always do.”
“Then what will satisfy you?”
“A month.” Kamilah said, surprised by her certainty. “I will be by your side for a month. You will find me the man who killed my brother. If you can’t, I will leave, and you won’t stop me.”
“And if I do?”
Kamilah let out a breath. “Then I will be your queen.”
“Then you have a deal.”
//
It only took two weeks to find the man who killed Lysimachus. Perhaps Gaius was motivated to prove a point. Perhaps he only made the initial proposal because he knew it was a promise he could easily deliver.
Lysimachus had been a general, which meant that his death was news amongst the Romans. It was a victory that a cunning and strategic man had been disposed of. The man that killed him boasted about it, which meant that he had a name, a face, a location. They expected he’d be in Alexandria, which would have complicated things, but no, he was stationed in an outpost several miles outside of the city, among a fleet of men holding off on as many Egyptian soldiers as they could.
They dragged him out of his bed, deeper into the desert. He fought the entire way there, screaming and begging, tears running down his face, all whyareyoudoingthisimaninnocentmanimjustoneofoctavianssoldiersletmego.
Kamilah didn’t dignify it with a response. She always thought if she ever had the chance to kill the man who killed Lysimachus, she would tell him about the person whose life he snuffed out, how she grieved, how everything she’d done since then was building up to this moment.
But this man no longer seemed like a being who changed her life. He was pathetic, ordinary. His entire life had been building up to this moment, the moment that she would kill him, and he was too stupid to realize it.
She tore into his neck, blood splattering, making no attempt to preserve his life for any longer than necessary. She drank eagerly, hungrily as he thrashed against her. She bit harder into his flesh, tearing out his throat with her teeth, not caring that he would bleed out in less than a minute because of what she’d done. She didn’t want to give him a quick death, but she’d given him a painful death. And that was enough.
When she was finished, she looked over at Gaius, who sat atop a dune, a smile on his face. Kamilah noticed that he smiled a lot in the last two weeks, but there were seemingly infinite reasons as to why he smiled. Sometimes, it was out of arrogance, of knowing he’d bested someone. Other times, it was out of thinly veiled annoyance. Other times, it was out of amusement.
But this was out of pride. Proud of the creature he’d created. Proud of  being right about Kamilah. Proud of what they’d pulled off in two weeks.
Proud that he’d won.
//
For the first three decades they shared together, they were partners, not lovers. He was her king, she was his queen, but what that really meant was that she was his second in command. His other progenies turned to her authority in Gaius’s absence. His other progenies bowed to both of them.
They grew close. Of course they did. As time passed, she began to develop a fondness for Gaius she hadn’t expected. He was quick witted and sharp-tongued, charming when he needed to be.
It was odd, the things he did that she found endearing. The way he’d always let her make the first kill, the way he began to select people to feed on based on what he discerned to be her taste, the way he was almost loving towards his victims, the way he told stories of battle, the way it changed depending on who he was talking to. He was braggadocios with most of his progeny. With her, he was detailed, once he figured out that she was more interested in strategy than glory.
In the beginning, he was vague about his past, about who he was before he became what he was. But slowly, he began to reveal more and more about himself. Gaius told her the story of the one before him, the Goddess and Mother of All Vampires, Rheya. She’d been taken from him just as Lysimachus had been taken from Kamilah. He never wanted to discuss how it happened. He preferred to focus on her life, on who she was.
“She was a force of nature.” Gaius told her once. “Not unlike you.”
“Is that why you chose me? Because I remind you of her?”
“In a way.” Gaius said. “But it’s different. I stand beside you. I bowed before her.”
She knew it was something she couldn’t possibly understand, and she didn’t try to. From the way he described Rheya, she wasn’t his goddess the way Kamilah was his queen. Rheya was quite literally a goddess. Kamilah was never going to compete with that, and there was no reason to try. Though, part of her wondered why that had been her instinct, why the more he spoke of Rheya, the more she felt twinges of jealousy rearing their head.
She wasn’t expecting the fondness she had for him to grow into something else entirely. It crept up on her in the right at the very end of their first thirty years together.
They were back in the Roman empire. What began as a brief stint in Pompeii that ended in a hundred people dead and countless others whispering stories about demons cloaked in beauty who only came out at night festered into owing Tiberius several favors, which included assisting him in his conquest of Bohemia.
Thirty years ago, Kamilah would have refused. She would have run, deal with Gaius be damned. But things had changed. She viewed human conflicts similarly to Gaius now; it wasn't about what was right. It was about what would guarantee their survival. An allegiance with the Roman Empire meant they could do whatever they pleased on most of the continent.
Besides, Kamilah missed it. She was a skilled tactician as a human. With Gaius’s charisma and strength and her strategy, Bohemia would be Tiberius’s in no time.
In the beginning, it was victory after victory. This was where she truly learned how to fight. Gaius gifted her with a set of daggers and taught her how to use them. They fought back to back on the battlefield, covered in the blood of their enemies. She often found herself taken with his visage in the moonlight, the glimmer in his eyes as he played with his prey. There was a strange part of her that almost wished he’d look at her like that—
It was a distraction, and she began to consciously pay as little attention to Gaius as possible when they fought alongside each other, save for the occasional glance in his direction to make sure he didn’t need backup. He never did. It was an excuse, really.  Kamilah knew that.
Their only drawback was a group of Bohemians that kept slipping out of Gaius and Kamilah’s grasp. Their strategy was similar to that of Kamilah’s when she fought the Romans thirty years before. When they struck Roman fleets, they took no prisoners. They attacked supply drops, taking whatever they could for themselves. They moved constantly. They had an advantage that Kamilah didn’t all of those years ago: they were used to being outside, used to the elements. Unlike the Roman soldiers, they could endure the worst of nature’s ills, which was just as well, because it was the middle of winter.
But she would destroy them, if only to prove that even they couldn’t best the roman empire.
The idea came to Kamilah after she’d attempted to Turn a Roman soldier who was a particularly skilled fighter, an asset to their conquest. He’d been run through with a spear and was already dead by the time Kamilah found him. The Turning didn’t take. She had to stake him as soon as he emerged from the ground, his skin grey and cracked, his teeth long and jagged, his eyes glowing a sickly red.
Gaius told her it happened sometimes. It wasn’t her fault.
“But what happened to him?”
“Turning a dead person is risky.” Gaius said. “Wait too long, they’ll emerge broken and hungry, shells of what they once were. All they’ll want to do is drink blood—any blood. Vampire or human.”
“But you could…” Kamilah trailed off. “You could do it intentionally. Couldn’t you?”
“What are you getting at?”
“That one fleet…they’re tricky, slippery. We’ve spent weeks trying to get rid of them. But maybe we’ve been going about it all wrong.”
“Have we?”
“They’re trying to tire us out. Don’t you think? But if we…”
“A surprise attack is a redundant suggestion, my queen.”
Kamilah rolled her eyes. “Not quite. We have to keep them in one place. Contained. Which means we need to create the illusion that we’ve given up. They’re going to overpower the other soldiers if we strike. But if we…if we made more of those things, set them lose on wherever they’ve settled…”
“We’ll get rid of them.” Gaius finished.
“And sunlight will take care of the rest.”
He took her hand.
“I love the way you think. Have I ever told you that, my queen?”
Kamilah smirked. “Plenty of times, my king.”
“Then I apologize for the redundancy. But I love the way you think.”
The Romans didn’t ask questions when Gaius gave the order to gather as many of their dead as possible after a battle in which they’d nearly been overpowered. They hauled the bodies around in a caravan for a week, all the while trying to lull their target into a false sense of security. Kamilah and Gaius tracked them down to a village deep into Bohemia, far from where the Bohemians and the Romans waged most of their battles.
“It’s perfect.” Gaius said. “We’ll strike tomorrow night.”
And so, they returned to the bodies they gathered, doing the disgusting work of Turning fifty dead men. They buried them in the woods by the village in the cover of darkness. They waited, exhuming them and getting out of their way, watching as these feral vampires headed straight in the direction of fresh, human blood.
It was a beautiful sight to behold, the chaos of it all. They sat atop a hill, Kamilah’s head resting against Gaius’s shoulder, watching as the ferals tore the village apart, watching as a fire broke out in the chaos, watching as not a single human was left away, watching as Rome’s victory over Bohemia was secured right before their very eyes.
Gaius took Kamilah’s hand. “I never had any doubts about you.” He said. “But now, I’m certain. We were always meant to cross paths. I was always supposed to find you.”
Kamilah rolled her eyes, mostly out of habit. “Are you going to tell me we were written in the stars?”
“You mock me, but you know I’m right.” He gestured at the burning village below him. “You’re cunning in a way that I am not. We need each other. Or rather, I need you.” He laughed. “At this point, I’d be concerned if you switched allegiances. You might actually be able to beat me at my own game.”
“You needn’t concern yourself with that.” Kamilah said.
“I shouldn’t?”
“I find myself growing more and more devoted to you with each breath I draw.”
“Do you, now?”
Before she could stop herself, she closed off the space between them, pressing her lips against his. He responded in kind, pulling her closer. He smiled against her mouth.
“Do you have any idea how long I’ve been waiting for you to do that?” He murmured.
“I think I can guess.”
As the village below them burned, they were wrapped up in their own world, enveloped in one another. And just as much as he was hers, Kamilah realized, she was his.

RMS Titanic
Bloodbound Fanfiction
Summary: The sinking of the Titanic. But it is 1925. And the Council is on it.
Characters: Adrian Raines, Kamilah Sayeed, Lester Castellanos, The Baron, Priya Lacroix, Adam Vega
Adrian placed his cup of tea on the table and looked Kamilah in the eyes. “Do you want to pass the time with a movie?”
She looked out of the window and saw New York on a rainy day. “Fine.”
“What do you have in mind?” he asked, searching through his DVDs in an almost absent-minded way.
“Well,” she said, resisting a smirk, “You know what I don’t like.”
Adrian smiled immediately as his eyes fell on a DVD. He showed her the cover, asking, “You remember that?”
“The Titanic? Oh, too well.”
“I like the movie they made out of it. So tragic, romantic and... human.”
“Are you talking about the inaccuracies?”
“No. I’m talking about the love story.”
“The love story that never happened. As well as the date. 1912? Oh, please.”
“You’re right. It happened in 1925. But I remember it as if it had been yesterday...”
---
Adrian was sitting on deck, watching the stars. There was commotion around him, people eating, talking, drinking and having fun.
Kamilah took a seat next to him, bringing two glasses of whiskey to the table.
“Thank you,” he said just once, barely looking at her, before focusing back on the beautiful night sky.
“Dreamy, are you?”
“I’m in love with this view.”
She didn’t bother to suppress a grin. “Being so fascinated by the most common things is a rare blessing at your age.”
Adrian faced her, grinning right back. “How can I not be fascinated by the Titanic, Kamilah?”
“It’s a ship of many.”
“But the only unsinkable one.” There was a sparkle in his eyes as he said it.
“I wouldn’t be too sure. After all, it is only human-made. And humans make mistakes.”
Adrian’s grin widened. “May I introduce? The world’s most famous pessimist, Kamilah Sayeed!”
Her response to his joke was an entertained smirk. “Are you prepared for the Council conferences?”
“I’m not thinking of it yet. There’s still time until the ship reaches New York.”
“But there is only so much time I can still bear Cecil Romano IV.”
Adrian laughed. “He threatened you again?”
“It’s a wonder I haven’t thrown him off the ship yet.”
“Well, I think this vacation is just what the Council needed. To lower the tensions a little, and focus on other things than work and politics.”
“Baron’s threats? Lester’s perversions? Or are you talking about Vega’s lovey-doveys with this brainless flapper he calls a girlfriend?”
His smile was yet present. “I’m talking about the ship! The people, the ambiente, the fun you should enjoy.”
Kamilah dronwed her whiskey and looked up at the stars. “Fine. Maybe this time, you are right. I will give this ship a chance.”
-
Lester was sitting at the bar, spotting a young woman sitting just a table away. After watching her male company leave to get to the restroom, he drowned his drink, stood up and approached her. “Hey, cutie... Are you here often?”
Her eyes widened. “What?”
He sat down next to her. “Are you here often?”
“On the Titanic?”
“Uh... Yeah.”
“Uh... No? This is the first time, actually... Since it... Since it was literally just built...”
He nodded. “I see.”
For a moment, there was a silent period in which he awaited an answer. When he accepted that none would come, Lester asked, “Are you willing to help a poor man in need?”
She faced him shily. “What do you need help with?”
“I have a very tense muscle that needs some massaging...”
“On your shoulders?”
“No. On here.” He took her hand and placed it between his legs.
The woman pulled back immediately and before he knew it, there was a drink thrown at his face. “Pervert!”
Lester scowled as he watched her leave. “Typical! The disrespect of flappers!”
-
Baron was sitting on the lounge, watching the people, scowling as always.
“Can I interest you in a dance, Sir?”
“Shut your mouth, Billy.”
His thug looked away. “Sorry.”
“We have a mission, you pig.”
“I can’t see the captain anywhere. Maybe he isn’t on break.”
“He is on break, you little-!”
Another thug interrupted him. “After twenty years, you really still hate him?”
“He insulted my coat once. I will make sure he won’t insult anyone ever again in his short, miserable-”
“There he is!”
His break over, the captain was walking to his room in order to get back to work. On his way, he saw an angry, imposing man sit in the corner of the lounge. “Why won’t you dance a bit?” he asked him when walking past, seemingly full of energy. “The night is young!”
Baron’s eyes narrowed, following the man until he disappeared in the crowd. A growl escaped his lips.
“Wow, he is-”
“A dead man!”
“Charismatic is what I meant to say...”
“Didn’t you hear what he said to me?!”
“Yes? He motivated you to enjoy the night.”
“He was commanding me! That bastard will pay!”
“Are you sure he meant to offend you?”
But the Baron was gone. He was on his way. Walking after the captain with a freshly sharpened knife.
-
Priya and Vega were sitting at a different lounge, recovering from a steamy Charleston session.
“You are such a swanky dancer, babe!”
Vega smiled, his teeth dazzling in the lightest shade of white. “I can only give that compliment back to you, doll.”
“A real Oliver Twist!”
He laughed. “You’re flattering me!”
Priya took a sip from the third glass of whiskey he had ordered her. “Now I’m in the mood for something else.”
“Something else?”
“Something else.”
Immediately, his grin widened. Vega held a hand out to her. “May I escort the lady to her suite?”
She grabbed it eagerly. “Ab-so-lute-ly.”
The two of them left, on the way to their shared cabin, where Priya started kissing on him before they even arrived.
-
It was the next morning when the newly founded Council sat together at a big table in the dining room of the Titanic.
“While I am happy to see Priya...” Lester threw a pervy grin at her before he faced Kamilah, “Is it really necessary to eat together?”
“Yes,” the oldest member simply said. “We booked this trip together and shall spend it discussing some pressing Council matters.”
“First...” Adrian threw in, “How is everyone liking it so far?” Although most of his fellow Council members were objectively bad people, Adrian believed in the good and therefore still had some hope that this historical journey would bring them closer together.
“Am liking it so far,” Priya said grinning while sipping on a summery cocktail. When she put the glass down, her expression changed to shocked. “Did y’all hear what happened on here yesterday?”
Kamilah, doubting that Priya could possess any potentially important knowledge, raised an eyebrow and asked, “What?”
“The captain of the ship was killed!”
Adrian’s eyes widened. “What?”
“Apparently they are trying to cover it up,” Vega said, his eyes dark.
“Do they know who it was?” Lester asked, interested.
“No, but he had it coming,” Baron growled.
All eyes were on him. Some suspicious, some curious.
“I just mean...” He was at a loss of words. Baron was usually a direct man, but he didn’t want to get in trouble with the Council. In trouble with Kamilah. “I just mean he probably deserved it. He was a human, after all.”
Adrian scowled. “He deserved to die for being human?”
Baron was unimpressed. “I just said that.”
“I hope the death of the captain doesn’t create a safety risk,” Kamilah said more to herself than to the others.
“The ship should be safe,” Lester answered. “There is a co-captain after all.”
“The co-captain is only an apprentice,” Priya told them in a low voice. “He is all wet!”
Adrian frowned. “Wet?”
“It means he’s not good at it,” Vega clarified. “He has no experience in commanding a ship.”
“Guys.” Lester looked worried. “We are safe here, right?”
“A sinking is unlikely,” Kamilah told him. “Regardless, we should be on the lookout. The ship isn’t safe.”
“What do you propose, Kamilah?” Adrian asked.
“We must watch our backs. And at best, gather information about what happened. It seems there is a killer on the loose.”
-
After breakfast, Baron walked directly to his cabin. His goons sat inside, talking. They went quiet as they saw him.
“The news are public!” Baron said, sounding almost like he was shouting.
“What happened, boss?”
“The stupid Council found out about the murder. And now they want to stick their nose where it doesn’t belong.”
“That’s... problematic.”
He looked at all the goons. “Billy... You were supposed to write a threatening letter to the staff so that no one would speak!”
The goon tried to hide his embarassment. “I did!”
The Baron was wary. “And did you leave it at the target location?”
“Yes, boss!” Billy assured him. The Baron didn’t need to know that he had gotten drunk, fallen down the stairs and dumped the letter over the railing.
“Good. And whatever you do...” He looked at all of them in absolute anger. “Don’t say a word to anyone!”
“Not even to Dylan?” Another goon asked.
The Baron’s expression only grew darker. “Who in the hell is Dylan?!”
“An ex goon. Blue eyes. Pretty guy.”
“Of course you won’t tell him!”
“Oh. Okay.” The goon nodded... and knew he had messed up badly.
-
It was a cloudy afternoon when Priya and Vega were on their way to another bar. It was one of many on the ship, and he had promised her to try out each and every one of them.
But today, Priya was whiny, a bit like a five year old who wanted some expensive toy. “Can’t we go to the dancefloor again? I don’t want to get more giggle water.”
Vega just dismissed her whining. “We will dance later, alright? I need to talk to the bartender first.”
“Why? Is he a big cheese?”
“Not really. But he could have some information.”
The two sat down and Vega ordered their usuals.
He took a close look at the bartender. “Diego, is it?” Vega tried to showcase a trustworthy smile. They had met decades ago on a vampire event.
“Vega, right? It’s Dylan.”
“A pleasure to see you again, Dylan.”
“Hiya, Dylan.” Priya just grinned, in a better mood now to have seen that, in her words, swanky fella.
“That’s my girlfriend, Priya. We usually don’t go to bars, but she has been so angsty lately.”
He looked surprised. “Angsty?”
Vega leaned forward and whispered, “We heard the captain was killed.”
Dylan’s face darkened. He whispered back, “Yes. Some believe this is a direct attack on our kind.”
Vega was surprised. “What do you mean?”
“The captain? He was a vampire.”
-
It was less than an hour later when Lester entered one of the luxurious first class suites. Looking around briefly, he saw no one. He walked right up to the king size bed and opened a bedside drawer. A pair of metal handcuffs was looking back at him.
“Snooping around?”
Lester turned around in surprise to find Vega standing behind him, half a head taller. “Uh... Just curious. No one was here.”
The man looked at his golden wristwatch. “We said 5 pm.”
“Right...”
It was then that Priya entered the suite. “Ugh, the Titanic is so boring!” She noticed Lester in her suite and immediately looked sad. Facing Vega she asked, “What is that pervert doing here already?”
Vega’s tone was a mixture of amused and mocking. “He thought it would be fun to look at our private property.”
Lester scowled. In an attempt to defend himself he declared, “You called us here! Had news about the murder.”
As if on cue, there was a knock on the door. When Priya opened, the rest of the newly founded Council stood in front of her. She sighed and let them in.
Kamilah walked to the middle of the room. As usual, her mere presence demanded attention. She directly faced Vega. “You have new information about the killing?”
“That’s right.” He looked around and made sure that he had everyone’s undivided attention. Before continuing, his expression became stern. “We have all reason to anticipate a personal attack. The captain was a vampire.”
Adrian’s eyes widened in surprise. “That is horrible.”
Lester wasn’t less surprised. “Who killed the guy?”
Kamilah tried to calm down the chaos. “Vega, are you sure? Is this information secured?”
“Absolutely. I have it on good authority. A staff member confessed.”
Adrian was taken aback. “I thought we were the only vampires on board?”
“Not directly,” Vega answered. “But there aren’t many. I am as surprised as you.”
“Is it really so important to us that the fella was killed?” Priya asked. She was here to party and enjoy life, not to solve a murder mystery.
Lester’s answer almost sounded angry. “Of course! Someone is planning to hunt us down! This whole ship is a trap!”
Baron bit his lip and finally spoke up. “Maybe it isn’t that bad. Maybe the captain just got himself killed because he was an asshole. Doesn’t mean it has to be-”
“Listen pup, we have experienced these things before. This isn’t new.” Lester’s face darkened. “The whole Order could be behind it!”
Priya seemed the most calm among them. “What Order?”
“A human organization hunting down vampires to exterminate them,” Vega explained sharply.
Priya gasped. “You didn’t tell me someone was after me to kill me!”
Kamilah interrupted the chaos once again. “Quiet! If all of this is true, we need to be even more careful than before. If the Order is here, we need to find their men. Any suspicious human gets questioned on the spot.”
Baron’s voice sounded defeated. “Is that really necessary?”
Priya shouted back at him, finally agitated. “The Order is out for us!”
-
After the news about the identity of the captain had been revealed among the Council, Kamilah and Adrian were walking through the dining hall in a very different manner.
Adrian watched his colleague muster the humans with dark and probing eyes. He caught up to her and whispered, “Don’t you think we should be in the suites for safety?”
Her response was quiet and sharp. “If the Order is behind this, there must be at least one of their spies on board. I intend to find them and end this charade.”
Adrian sighed. He had suggested to buy tickets to this ship for all of the members to get closer and celebrate the newly established council. And now they were all being hunted by an unknown enemy.
It was a second later when Kamilah appeared next to him again. “Do you see that man speaking with Vega by the window? Blond hair and grey hat?”
His eyes searched the busy hall until he found them. “Yes?”
“They have been talking since we entered.”
“What about it?”
But before she could answer, Kamilah found herself walking straight to her target. She stopped a bit before them and watched. Vega’s eyes found hers and she walked directly to them.
They stopped mid conversation. “Kamilah, may I introduce my new acquaintance?” He just smirked.
She shook the man’s hand and felt the sweat on his palm. Nervous much? “Kamilah Sayeed.”
“Richard Morgan. Nice to meet you.”
“Richard here has been very curious of me. Haven’t you, Richie?”
Kamilah understood the cue immediately. She used her superior senses to analyze the man - and smelled that he was a human.
The target blushed. “Just curious, sir. It’s the first time I’ve met a... politician.”
Vega nodded thoughtfully, his glance on the man. “Politician... Right...”
Kamilah grabbed the man’s arm, her grip strong as iron. She needed to remove him from the public. “If you would come with me for a conversation in my suite?”
His blush didn’t fade. “I... am afraid I have to get going.”
But instead of letting him go, Kamilah walked on, the man forced to follow her. Vega and Adrian appeared beside her, taking the man in their middle. They left the dining room in a hurry.
-
Lester was strolling through the ship’s rooms on the lookout for the Order members or their henchmen. His eyes fell onto the many humans probingly, but the task of finding the enemy wasn’t easy - many women were distracting him with their sweet perfumes and daring cleavages.
“Excuse me, sir.” A young man passed Lester in a hurry.
The vampire was alerted - a suspicious passenger! He followed the man without a second thought and ended up behind a heavy, closed glass door. Lester looked through the glass to detect the suspicious man standing in front of a huge panel. He watched him pressing several buttons in panic.
Lester couldn’t watch the criminal scheming any longer - he used his powers and broke through the door.
-
Meanwhile, Kamilah, Adrian, Vega and the human target had arrived in a small and empty room close to the ship’s nose. Kamilah’s hand reached for the throat of the man while Vega put the back of a wooden chair under the door handle to ensure no witnesses.
Effortlessly, Kamilah held the man up and began to question him. “Who are you?”
The man wheezed, unable to breathe. Kamilah loosened her iron grip after feeling Adrian’s worried hand on her shoulder, but the man just begged. “Please... let me go...”
Kamilah was persistent. “Who are you?”
Feeling her ever-lasting hand on his throat, the man finally answered, defeated. “Spy of... the Order.”
Adrian was shocked. “Kamilah! How did you know?”
Her voice was strict, emotionless. “It was obvious. He is a bloody amateur.”
The spy murmured, almost unconscious, “I was sent by my masters... to spy on your kind...”
Adrian scowled. “You have killed the captain of this ship.”
The man looked white as a ghost. “What? You... You must be confusing me. I haven’t killed anyone.”
Adrian wanted say something, but Vega walked forward and interrupted him. Looking straight at the helpless spy still held in Kamilah’s grip, he asked, “What is your end goal?”
“To add to... the scripture of Rheya... stored on this ship...”
Vega looked confused. But before he could ask the spy to clarify, Kamilah crushed the human’s neck in one swift motion.
The three vampires were silent. It was then that Lester barged into the room, breaking the door. “Guys, I did it! I killed the spy!”
-
It was less than ten minutes later when all the six council members stood in the control room of the ship. On the floor was the corpse of the co-captain that Lester had killed. But that wasn’t the worst. The ship was directly heading in the direction of a massive iceberg and it was too late to change the course.
Kamilah’s tone was dry. “The ship will hit the iceberg and sink any minute.”
Priya looked genuinely worried. “What can we do?”
“Get outside and warn the people,” Adrian answered. “We need to get the life boats ready.”
“Do what you want,” Vega said coldly. “I need to find this scripture.”
Lester raised an eyebrow. “The ancient scripture of Rheya? With all her powers and secrets noted down? It really exists?”
“It does and it’s on this ship. The spy knew everything.”
“Why would the Order bring it here?” Lester asked.
“I don’t know. But I need it... We need it. It could change life as we know it.”
Priya shouted, agitated. “What we need is to survive!”
And as if on cue, the ship hit the iceberg.
-
The next moments were a blur. Panic and chaos were spreading on the ship. Kamilah and Adrian had made it to the life boats. Selflessly, they tried to arrange the rescue of the humans who were all getting physical in order to receive a place on a life boat.
Priya ran through the choas in the ship’s inside. Dozens of people were running around, the power was about to go off. About to run to the upper deck outside, she noticed Vega stand in a barely noticeable corner. She looked to the exit, to Vega, to the exit... and ran to him.
Vega stood in front of a glass box hidden in a wall. Inside was a tiny scripture. Unable to open the box, he smashed his fist into the glass. But his hand got stuck and he couldn’t reach the paper.
When Priya appeared next to him, she was in panic. “What are you doing?!”
“I have to get the scripture!” He forced his hand further inside the box, the glass shards cutting deep into his arteries.
Priya just screamed. “Are you crazy?! You are going to die!”
“Don’t worry about me. Just get onto a life boat. I will see you there.”
“But...” She looked at the mass of people running upstairs. Without another word, she ran after them - and cursed. “Moron, moron, moron!”
Arriving upstairs, she took in the cold air of the night and the chaos right in front of her. Before she had decided on what to do, a hand grabbed her shoulder. She hoped that it was Vega who had come to his senses, but was disappointed to see... it was Lester.
“Come on! I’ve got a spot for us!” He dragged her to the side where she saw a life boat. The two jumped in and Lester started rowing. Away from the Titanic.
Priya took in the scenary. The ship was getting smaller the farer they came and she saw how huge the choas was. It wasn’t long until she heard an explosion and saw a fire spread.
-
Kamilah jumped into one of the last life boats. Looking back at Adrian, her eyes widened in worry. “Come on!”
Adrian led another woman into one of the small boats, then picked up a child and moved it inside as well. In the last possible moment, he jumped into the life boat where Kamilah had been waiting.
She was fast to row away from the exploding tragedy that once was the glorious Titanic, but Adrian’s eyes were only glued to the ship. He finally faced her, deep sadness visible in his expression. “There are still people on board...”
Kamilah’s expression was almost frozen, but a hint of emotion came through to him. “There aren’t enough life boats.”
He looked back and sighed, looked reality into its ugly eyes... and understood. “You are right. We did everything we could.”
-
“How did you like the vacay? I would say, all in all, it wasn’t that bad. I mean, the ship sank and we almost got killed - heck, I killed an innocent guy - but... we are alive!” Lester just smiled clumsily. It was a failed attempt to make conversation.
Priya’s glance was fixed on the boat. She said, almost unhearably silent, “Vega is still on there.”
Lester just shrugged, still in an attempt to lighten the mood. “It’s Vega. He’s dumb.” He laughed - alone.
She didn’t look at him, didn’t blink. “I told him to come.”
“What’s he in for? His ego didn’t fit on the upper deck?” He suppressed another laughter.
Priya’s demeanor seemed colder than the night’s air. “He wants to get that stupid scripture.”
Lester nodded, more serious for once. “The Order has been gathering information about Rheya for centuries. It’s not unlikely it could help us, but... that’s not worth dying for!”
For the first time, she looked at him. “Help us how?”
“Kind of... I don’t know. Make something to imitate her powers. So that we could use it and become like her. Crazy if you ask me.”
Barely listening, Priya’s eyes widened. She saw a life boat approaching from behind. On it were the two vampires she had almost forgotten.
-
The Baron was a pitiful sight. Cowering in a tiny wooden boat, he was shaking - not out of fear! It was just so cold... “My goons... They are still in there... They need their boss to safe them!”
Vega looked at him sternly. “If you want to go back in there, I’m not keeping you.”
“No, no! I, uh... have a sprained ankle.”
“Right.”
Baron waited until their boat was far enough away from the Titanic and took in the scenery. Just hours ago, everything had been fine... Well, not exactly. In reality, nothing had been fine since he had killed the captain and started this whole mess. He just sighed. “Vega... I have to confess something to you.”
“What is it?” Vega sounded as excited as a sixth grader about math homework.
He took in a deep breath. “I... err...”
“Mhm?”
And then, it blasted out of him. “The liquor here was atrocious!”
The two remained in silence for several moments. When Vega opened his mouth to answer, a voice calling out from behind cut him off.
-
It was in the middle of the night, in the middle of the ocean, when the Council was united again. Three wooden life boats were dancing above the waves.
Priya’s focus was on Vega. His entire right hand and forearm were stained with dark blood. In a soft voice she asked him, “Are you okay?”
He just grinned at her, held out his hand, opened the fist and showed off... an ancient scripture.
Even Lester was surprised. “You really got it?”
“Of course.” He shrugged. “It was no big deal.”
Kamilah’s expression was stern. “This is an original scripture from the Order?”
“It must be. They brought it to the ship and had it stored in a hidden safe.”
Lester’s expression was angry. “I’m tired of the Order and their crap. We need to fight back.”
“What we need to do now...” Adrian declared, “Is be grateful that we made it out.”
---
“A tragic story,” Kamilah confirmed.
Adrian still seemed lost in thought. “Yes. So many humans died that night.”
“But no vampires. Well, besides for the captain.”
Adrian just nodded. “And we don’t know to this day who killed him...”
“What we do know is that this scripture was useless. No one can reproduce Rheya’s powers.”
Adrian smiled faintly. “Another cup?” He held up the tea pot.
“No, thank you. I’ve had enough drama for today.”
“Fine.” He looked at her teasingly. “But next time we meet over tea, you’ll tell me how you met Gaius.”
“I’d need an espresso for that.”
The two friends laughed.
After Kamilah had left, Adrian walked to the window and looked at the night sky. The Council members were difficult and none of them would ever get along. But still, they had all experienced history together. And in a way, he was grateful for that.

Business (Kamilah Sayeed & MC)
Previous chapters: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Book: Bloodbound (property of Pixelberry Studios)
Pairing: Kamilah Sayeed & MC: Amy (I do not own those characters, they’re the property of Pixelberry Studios as well)
Warnings: angst (I guess)
Rating: Mature
Author’s note:  I’m not a native English speaker, I’m sorry for any mistakes (feel free to correct me).
I know that those chapters show little development toward Amy's and Kamilah's relation (some might say). But I put more pressure on developing the plot and existence of Bloodkeepers. Don't worry tho, after some slow burn, there will be more smut chapters 😄
I wanted to thank u for welcoming me back so kind. Your comments mean a lot 💕
~ 2600 words

Chapter 6
"Vivian."
The voice bounced between bars of the cage hidden inside of a wooden shelter. It caused a barely noticeable movement in the darkness, followed by an increased heart rate.
Noises of the night caught them from the outside as the crew was preparing for the road. A group of vampires only waited for the Sun to hide behind the horizon cowardly.
So they could welcome the Moon, their only loyal companion on the trail.
"Took you long enough," the prisoner mumbled, unamazed.
"May I remind you," Kamilah lighted a torch. A faint glimmer lazily brought up details of the surroundings," that there weren't many people left to ask?" She moved closer to the bars. "Thankfully, we got just the person we were sent for."
Fire lightened the cage, travelling on the shapes of the person sitting in the corner.
Chained to the wall like an animal waiting for slaughter.
Her hair lacked the previous glow. The redness dissolved in the dirt that gathered on the girl throughout the long days of the trip.
"You mean, you found the leader of the Land that your bloodsuckers murdered in cold blood?" Vivian lifted her chin a little, serving the look full of pride, sharp as a knife.
A stare that could kill thousands but on the Vampire Queen made no impression.
"Darling," the woman placed the torch in the handle, "soon, your concerns will go much further than sentiment to your people."
Keys sang in the silence, dancing to the rhythm of the fire.
Kamilah unlocked the gate, not stepping inside. She kept her distance as if some part of her remained superstitious about the legends threatening her existence. At the same time, she couldn't help but smile at the ridiculousness of the possibility that such a human being could mean danger to her.
But for some unknown reason, Gaius had great plans toward this mortal girl. And as weird as it was, he didn't share his intentions even with Kamilah.
Naturally, she figured them out on her own. After so many years of service for Gaius, she knew his tactics.
She was a part of them.
Kamilah finally pushed the door, opening it wide as if testing her own courage. There was something about the girl that awoke alertness in her body. That made her throat get suddenly dry, causing her to reach for the bottle tied to the belt around her waist.
"I wouldn't drink it if I were you," a spark appeared in the green eyes, carefully observing her moves.
Kamilah froze as the hesitation hit her mind, paralyzing her muscles for a split second. Then, she slowly neared the container to her nose, trying to detect anything suspicious. But there was no scent to the water inside the leather.
Just the way it should be.
"Pray to tell why?" her voice carried a hint of demand.
But Vivian only moved on the ground meaningfully, lifting her tied up wrists. For a moment, she got rid of the blunt expression on her face. Letting a sweet smile dance on her lips as her eyes shined with innocence.
And that exact way of looking hit Kamilah's weak spot.
The consternation hit her as she found herself vulnerable to Vivian's games. There was some undiscovered mystery surrounding that girl.
Something that kept her alive for so long.
Finally, Kamilah snapped out of her thoughts, approaching her with vampire speed. She put the girl on her both feet and, not bothered with being gentle, ripped off the chains.
"You better talk fast," the woman hissed, warning with the crimson shade of her eyes.
But the prey seemed unthreatened.
"Feeling more hesitant recently?" Vivian began, rubbing red marks on her wrists. "Hard to focus your thoughts? Vision getting blurry? Perhaps you're not as fast as before?"
Her words faded into a whine of pain when her wrist got twisted by Kamilah's grip. Her nails were digging deep, adding heat to the wound.
"You believe you're smart?" Kamilah whispered, keeping her tight in place.
Leaving Vivian no space to avoid the woman's gaze.
"I believe..." imitated her tone, "you might have more enemies than friends, after all, Miss Sayeed," she spoke quietly. "Someone has been poisoning you for a few days now," a faint smile appeared on her pale from torture face. "Quite successfully, if I may add."
A cold shiver travelled down Kamilah's spine.
"How do you..." words escaped her mouth before she could have stopped them.
"They're being smart, never giving a dose big enough to draw attention," Vivian added, softening at the view of fear on the woman's face.
"You can't know that," Kamilah's mind worked fast on recalling flashbacks from past days.
Because no vampire would ever enter the shelter in which they kept the prisoner. No one except Kamilah had permission to be around Vivian.
And what would be the point in doing that after all?
Trying to turn her against Kamilah? Maybe stage an attack...no, it didn't make sense.
So how did she...
"Can't I really, though?" a sneaky smile danced in the corner of her mouth. "I guess that knowledge might come in handy one day. And, what's more," Vivian's voice got lower as she whispered.
"I'm sure that makes you more interested in what will happen to me from now on."
***
"A...a Bloodkeeper?"
"You do realize that no matter how many times you repeat the same word, it won't lose credibility?" Kamilah scowled, drinking her coffee slowly.
But Adrian only fell on the couch, miserable, trying to process the information that made the fundaments of his word suddenly unsteady. He never even considered the possibility of Bloodkeepers since their family line was supposed to be long gone after he got turned by Gaius.
"But..." the man got up from the couch as if he never meant to rest there. Just to walk a thousand circles around the living room. "What does it mean for our arrangement with Paines?"
His clueless questions softened Kamilah a little. Even if the topic was serious, seeing him like this had a way to put a reassuring smile on her face.
"They expect us to uphold our end of the bargain," her expression shifted, showing a hint of bitterness. "But that's not our biggest concern, believe me."
"I'm all ears," Adrian sat on the couch again, facing the woman in the armchair.
Kamilah lifted her gaze upon the cup. For a moment, she looked behind him, trying out sentences in her mind. Tasting the flavour of words before she let them sound aloud.
"It's clear that we've been mistaken," an observant listener would catch the doubt trembling in her voice. "I wouldn't call Amy's existence a miracle, no," she took another sip. "I'm ready to risk a statement that we never knew enough about Bloodkeepers, to begin with," Kamilah put the cup on the table, leaning against the chair.
She couldn't help but remember the very moment when Bloodkeeper's line was put to the end. At least that's what she believed happened back then.
But what if they were never a creation of only one family line...
Kamilah spent a restless night doing research after the discovery about Amy. She ran through the same books, same ancient protocols that have ever registered the existence of Bloodkeepers.
Seeking for something previously unseen, so easily disregarded.
"Do you think that there is more of them?" it was one of a few times Adrian experienced the look of concern on his friend's face.
"No, there's never been more than one walking the Earth at the same time," Kamilah answered confidently, to add with a hesitation. "But I'm more than convinced that there will be more born in the future."
One Bloodkeeper at the time.
Millions of vampires as opponents.
"There's something I can't shake," his forehead furrowed. "How is it possible that we didn't notice anything?"
Kamilah sighed quietly, making her way to the kitchen. She let herself a moment of gratitude to the past years. It's been a time rich in success for her business, for their coexisting with humans.
And it seemed to be falling apart so suddenly.
"If it was so easy to notice, we wouldn't have a reason to be afraid of them, would we?" she said, pouring more coffee into the cup.
"How can you tell then?" a pure curiosity echoed in Adrian's voice.
One of Kamilah's fingers traced a path down the shape of the mug as the trial of memories hit her.
"You need to spot the moment of them losing control," she looked ahead with an empty stare. "And then, when you catch their stare..." she closed her eyes. "It's like for a split of a second you're looking at the stars," flashbacks getting stronger. "And all you can think of is the pulse of their veins, the blood that's floating inside. How much you want to feed," Kamilah blinked a few times, breaking out from this image. "As nothing else matters in the world anymore."
She looked at her friend once again, this time with a grave gaze.
"So you feed on the Bloodkeeper..." Adrian picked up.
But none of them felt brave enough to finish the sentence.
***
"I hope I didn't keep you waiting."
Amy made it to the scheduled meeting at one of the highest floors of Ahmanet Financial.
Sun brightened up space inside the office through the special glass of large windows. Its rays put a shine on the suits of both CEOs discussing matters by the glass of wine. Making it seem like the gathering was heading toward the end rather than the beginning.
"Don't worry about it," Adrian was the first one to send her a look. "We let ourselves have a little drink after a tiring day," his laughter came off genuine as always.
Amy smiled in return, feeling on her body the gaze of another person.
Eyes that have been eating her up since the moment of her appearance. At first, acting in disguise as if not paying attention. Just to devour her soon after with no shame following along.
"You arrived alone," Kamilah moved toward the desk, pouring wine for the guest, "...again."
She gave the newly filled glass to Amy, greeting her with a tiny nod. Her comment was more than enough to inflame the heat from the memorable night, painting her cheeks pink.
"I'm not alone," the girl said louder than intended, "my security is waiting downstairs."
"Oh, downstairs?" Kamilah laughed shortly without actually being amused. "Would they manage to stop me in time from breaking this pretty little neck of yours?"
Her eyes moved on the girl's throat along with those words as if she really considered doing that.
"I...," Amy's pathetic attempt to speak back only increased the smirk on the woman's face.
"Let's skip to business, shall we?" Adrian interrupted, feeling the tension thickening in the air.
Amy neared the glass to her lips, taking a tiny sip, letting the alcohol add her courage. But this action only drew Kamilah's attention more, making the girl burn under her stare.
"We're here to schedule our training sessions," the woman jumped straight to the topic. "Undoubtedly, we can't babysit you all day and night," she added after seeing the surprise on the girl's face. "You need to learn how to keep yourself safe on your own."
"I can take care of myself just fine," Amy mumbled, unlike her.
Her head became a little heavy, but she kept her eyes wide open, focusing on both CEOs. To occupy her hands and mind with something, she quickly took another sip of red liquid. Surprisingly, it tasted so much better than the previous one, making her want to go for more.
"We need to clarify something then," Kamilah smirked, barely noticeable, seeing how the glass was getting emptier little by little. "The only knowledge you possess right now is that you're 'something' called Bloodkeeper," she exaggerated on purpose. "You have no idea what kind of responsibilities it comes with."
"How could you possibly know it any better?" Amy spitted out, suddenly triggered.
Her face got even more blushy, affected by the heat of the conversation.
"Let's say I have my ways," Kamilah answered simply, moving toward the window.
"We're here to support you with that burden," Adrian intervened, trying to ease the situation again. "We're trying to help..."
But his attempts were not appreciated.
"You don't have to speak for your Queen," Amy hissed, feeling the effects of the alcohol working its way in her body. "She clearly has something to share."
And that was enough of playing nice.
Amy found herself pinned against the window in a flash, exposed to the buildings around. The noise of shattered glass pierced through her ears, as the last thing she noticed were red tones painting the floor before her.
"I speak now. You listen," Kamilah's voice cut through the air, waiting for the nod from the girl. "I understand the enemy better than you, darling," she continued, satisfied with Amy's obedience.
"Kamilah?" Adrian's tone sent a warning to his friend.
"Let me explain it to her," the woman growled, not taking her eyes off the prey. "Could you stop me right now from hurting you?" Kamilah made an example, moving her nail down Amy's throat. "How about pushing me away?" adding more pressure on the throat. "Not strong enough..." she smiled at the noise of the heartbeat trying to escape the chest. "How about running away?" she looked at the elevator as if suggesting the idea, "Not fast enough, are we?"
She made a long pause, letting the silence sink into the girl's mind. To make her anticipate what comes next. Keeping her on her toes.
Before finally letting go of her.
"With no proper training," Kamilah stared at her confidently. "You're as good as dead."
Amy's legs trembled a little, threatening her to lose balance. She was grateful for the cold surface of the window behind her back, steadying her body.
Muscles seemed out of her control, her reactions slower than usual. As if something paralyzed the strength running down her veins barely a moment ago.
"So, um," spoken words planted fear in Amy's chest, making her realize the seriousness of the situation, "when do we start?"
Kamilah smiled at her, satisfied with the reaction. This girl wasn't easy to teach, but she never preferred it that way.
"In fact, we do start in," Kamilah spoke, counting the passing seconds," 3..." suddenly, Amy's vision went blurry, making it impossible to recognize the surroundings. "2..." her chest slowed its beat, breathing got more shallow. "1..." legs trembled, making her lose balance as the last words hit her before losing consciousness.
"And she's down."
Using vampire speed, Kamilah was near the girl in an instant. Catching her body before hitting the floor.
"What the hell, Kamilah?!" Adrian jumped from his place, kneeling before the girl.
He checked the pulse on her neck, which was weak but steady. The girl's eyes were closed, and her chest was lifting and falling slowly but regularly.
"Oh, don't be such a baby. She's going to be alright," Kamilah turned away, untroubled.
"Did you..." Adrian's voice exposed a lack of patience. "Did you just poison Paine's daughter?!"
He lifted Amy's body as if she weight nothing in his arms.
"I made myself very clear," Kamilah's tone unmoved. "My methods of training are radical."
"You for sure proved it just now," Adrian mumbled, putting the girl on the couch gently.
Kamilah reached for the bottle of poisoned wine, lifting it high as if proposing a toast.
"Lesson number one," she spoke, smiling with satisfaction.
"Anyone, literally anyone, can betray you."

Amy has goosebumps just from the thought, she needs to visit and get to the good side of Priya's. She knows Priya is evil, and every good thing in her died a long time ago. But there is no way Kamilah or Adrian could break her so she does something nice for them. They are sitting in Adrian's office. Brainstorming plan how to get 4 votes, so Lily can live. Amy: "Alright, I pay her visit." Kamilah shoot stare to Adrian. Kamilah: "She's your pet. I don't care. But she gets all of you into this mess, so she needs to fix it." Adrian: "Kamilah be reasonable, she will not come back alive. You know Priya and her ´activities´..." Amy: "Kamilah is right. And there is no other way. She will send you to the hell in the moment you set your foot to her club."
Adrian: "No! We will find another way, I will not let anything to happen to you." Amy: "Maybe we will, but it will take a long time. And now, time is what we don't have. I already decide Adrian. And you cant change my mind. I'm going with or without your help." Kamilah: "Amy, she is going to break you. Don't underestimated her. Not every vampire is in control like us and our clans." Amy: "Now you care? You threaten to kill me, Kamilah! You can go back to your office, because you are not helping." Amy stands up and starts walking towards door. She stops with her hand on the handle. She takes a few deep breaths. Then she looks over her shoulder. Adrian put his head into his hands. He shakes his head and nod. Adrian: "We send someone, who will watch you from distance. If anything goes wrong, they help you." Kamilah straighten her back, clears her throat and began walk towards Amy.
Kamilah: "I'll escort you to her club. We need to talk privately." Adrian look between Amy and Kamilah with questions in his eyes. He feels there's great tension between them. He just don't know what kind of tension. It seems he wants to say something, but he just look to the opposit direction. Amy: "Great.. Yeah.... Thank you..." They got into her car. Kamilah drives Amy to the Paulus viewpoint. Kamilah exit the vehicle first, she opens doors for Amy and offers her hand. Amy decline and burst out of the car. Amy: "Why did you take me here? I need to meet with Priya! If you want to kill me, do it! Enough of your threats and shit talking about me all the time."
Kamilah: "You may be right, mortal. I don't care about you. But Adrian likes you. So listen to me, I will not repeat myself. I will help you out of this situation, who if I remember, you cause. But if this doesn't work out, and Adrian loses his life, because you put your con act and manipulate him to turn Lily. I'll kill you both without any hesitation." Amy is stressed out. Angry. Scared for her, Lily's and Adrian's life. This was the last button to push. She doesn't care if more than 2000 years old, strongest vampire on the earth, who can snap her neck in the velocity of light, stands before her. She slaps her hard and pushes her. Again, and again and again. She pinned Kamilah to the railing. Amy: "Ohh, really, Kamilah? Than do it, kill me! You are full of the bullshit! Drop this nonsense! You are hiding behind coldness, strength and rudeness. But we both know where is the truth! Deep inside, you are scared little girl, who is afraid of people leaving you, after they get to know real you! You are lonely and scream for the attention, affection and love! Deep inside, you want someone who will care about you, who will see the real you! Who will get you and stand by your side. So NO! I'm not afraid you. You care about people. Adrian may be the last being who likes you, and you know it. So you are losing your control, because he is the only hope for your humanity. Only thing which puts you in the line. The last thing to stops you from being monster. Be honest for second and show me some damn respect!" She catches Amy's hand when she wanted to push her again. Her jaw drops. She is right and they both now it. She stands there in shock.
Kamilah: "I-I..."
Amy: "That's what I though."
Amy free her hands from Kamilah's strong grasp and start walking towards the city. It's a few miles. This is going to be a long walk, but Amy doesn't care. She needs to clear her head. She feels connection towards Kamilah, but she is tired of her act and manipulation. Kamilah feel how tear slides down her cheek. Reality falls apart and she remembers how she sits alone in her pentahouse or office, trying to drink her mind off. She prohibited herself any kind of connection after what she done in past. After so much pain she causes.
After centuries someone sees through her like she was a plate of glass. She closes her eyes and tried gain her control back. After a while she enters her expensive car and follows Amy. It does not take long, she finds her walking angrily in abandonen path.
Kamilah: "I'm sorry Amy. Please get into the car, I'll drive you to the Priya's club. It's not safe in the night here."
Amy: "I'm fine. Just go away." Kamilah: "Don't be stuborn, you were right about everything. Let me take you to the Priya's club, now for real. I know I upset you, but it takes hours from here, by walking.
Amy sight and listen, she gets into the car and turn to the window with her hand fold above her stomach. She is looking at the night New York. Amy: "What can Priya do to me?"
Kamilah: "She is a real monster. She will promise you a lot of things. She makes you feel special for short quantity of time. In the second she gets enough of you or gets bored, she will probably kill you. Her games, no human can survive. People disapear or they found them dead." Amy: "At least she is attractive. I will have a nice view when she dries me suck and I will die for someone I care about." Kamilah narrow her eyes at the girl, sitting besides her. Kamilah: "We won't let that happened. You need to get out of there if she tries something. We still can get Baron's vote." Amy: "He is even worse. Priya wants to play games, but her ego destroys her once. What she doesn't know, I'm good at playing games."
Amy: "Kamilah, I'm sorry about what I said earlier."
Kamilah's brows quirk. She thinking about hers next words.
Kamilah: "Don't be. Perhaps it was bold to say those things, but you were right. Noone was brave enough to tell me before..." Kamilah drive Amy to the Priya's club and wish her luck. Amy didn't wait a long line and walk towards the bouncer. Amy: "Priya will accept me immediately." Bouncer: "Oh, are you her snack? Tell me your name, I check the list." Amy tells her name to the bouncer. He calls for his colleague and they escort Amy right to the Priyas V.I.P. room. Priya is wearing a black minidress, with gold stripes and a red high heel boots. A lace from the dress covering only a little bit of her skin, it's really tight dress. She talks with another vampires. Some of them Amy knows from the Council meeting. It takes only few second before Priya sensed Amy. She shoot glare directly to Amy. Priya: "Well, well, well. Look at who's decided do choose better company."
She kissed Amy at both cheeks and hugs her tightly. Priya may be a monster, but she is also very attractive. When Amy feels how close is Priya's body presses to hers, she gasps. Her heart skips a few heartbeats. Priya smirk and look at the girl before her with amusement.
Amy: "Hi Priya, I need to talk with you. Privately." Priya: "Ohh!" She clapped her hands together enthusiastically and murderous smile appear at her face. Amy rolled her eyes. Priya: "I love where is this coming. Follow me." They enter a private elevator what is connected directly to the Priya's apartment. When the door close Priya immediately catch Amy by her sides, other hand searching to find a way under Amy's shirt. She runs a nail along Amy's stomach harshly, and cut a line on her belly, blood appears immediately. Amy let out a moan. Priya kiss her with hunger. Amy pauses the kiss and walk a few steps away. Her heart is beating fast. Priya attract her, but she is also very dangerous. Amy is trying to cool down and put hand in the air between them, to make some space. Amy: "I'm here only to talk." Priya: "Don't lie, I hear your heart, it's like it explode any moment."
Amy: "Priya... I need your help with something, hear me out." They exit the elevator, and Priya pour them a glass of expensive red wine. They sit on the leather couch. Priya grab Amy by her thigh and pull her close. She is drawing a circles at her thigh. Priya: "Well?" Amy: "Someone of your kind attacks my friend..." Priya: "Of my kind?!" Amy: "Vampire... My friend, Lily... She was dying... So I ask Adrian to turn her. I got you envelope, he is calling a Council meeting. We need your vote." Priya: "HA! Adrian breaks rules for some human?"
Priya: "You get my vote under one condition. You stay with me and become my little kitten." Amy: "No way, I want to live at least for next 50 years, Priya. One night, no killing, no turning. No ripping parts of my body." Priya: "Oh, I will have so much fun! Alright then. After I do to you, you will have no thoughts of leaving." Amy: "I am going to regret this. Am I? I accept." Priya: "Very well." She kisses Amy and guides her to stand up from the sofa. Her hands sliding at Amy's arms. Making way to tangle their fingers while Priya dominate Amy's tongue. Priya: "Now, I want to hear your heart race, your moans fills the room. And I have a very good idea." Before Amy opens her mouth to say something, she is back in flash with sex harness. Its black leather metal restrains for neck and wrists. Amy let out a long sigh and look directly at Priya's eyes. Amy: "Seriously Priya?" Priya: "I'll enjoy this my little kitten." She doesn't waste any time and free Amy of her cloths. She is completely nude. Before she can protest Priya restrain her into the harness and with the swift move settle Amy into near chair. She spread her kneese and push her toward the edge of the luxury seat. She kissed her again, but not for long. She continues to Amy's neck and bite, she inserts two fingers inside Amy. Amy sees how colors spread before her eyes. The pain and pleasure made Amy arch her back a bit. Her breath quickens when suddenly she feel another finger thrust in. A moan escapes her lips. She tried to hold onto something, but the harness blocking her movement. She almost can't take it. Amy: "FUCK, PRIYA!" Priya continues in her murderous pace and drinking Amy's blood. Amy vision goes blur. She doesn't know if its from the pleasure or the blood lost. Amy: "You dry me suck Priya! STOP!" But Priya continues. She starts to fuck Amy again and moves to her shoulder. She bites her again and sucks her blood like it's the best food she ever has. She bites her side, drink a little bit, then stomach, and finally she sucks her vulva. Amy let out very loud moan and rock against Priya. When Amy's orgasm come to close Priya moves again, to her thigh. She drinks Amy's blood again. Amy yell by the pleasure Priya giving her and from the pain.
Amy: "Priya! I am close!" Priya: "Let go my beautiful kitten." Priya pump into Amy with vampire strenght and speed. She can't even breath properly. She arch her back, the harness slightly choke herself, her wrist miss oxygen, but she doesn't care. After few moments she crashed so hard. Amy: "PRIYA! FUCK! OHMYHOD!" Amy lost her consciousness, from blood lost and pleasure Priya gives her. Priya stands up and clean her face from Amy's juice.
Priya: "Ha! They will be pissed, especially Adrian and grandma. Th-."
In that moment doors flew open and Kamilah make her way to the Priya. Kamilah is standing her, her twin daggers holding close.
Kamilah: "What about we just kill you?"
Priya: "Wait! Just take her!"
Kamilah: "Smart choice, Lacroix."
Kamilah hide her daggers and undress her maroon blazer. She free Amy of the leather - metal harness and wrap Amy into blazer. She pick her up, holding her close, but carefully.
Kamilah: "You are not allowed to touch her again."
Priya: "Whatever, after this night, she comes back voluntarily."
Kamilah: "I expect ´aye´ from you, tomorrow. And even if she comes back by her choice, you will hand her over to us, immediately."
Without hearing answer, Kamilah exit the building.
Kamilah: "You got yourself into serious mess Amy."
Amy wakes up and nuzzles to Kamilah's neck.
Amy: "Kam?"
Kamilah: "Shh. You are safe and alive."
Amy: "I was imagining you whole time. While she was doing, what she was doing."
Amy falls alseep again. Kamilah stops for the moment and look at that small, fragile human. She don't know what she should think about this. But she decide to ignors it. She carefully put Amy at back seats and drive her to her pentahouse, where she clean Amy's wounds. She lay her onto her bed and with intention watch her till she wakes up, lay besides her. Amy lookes so calm. Soon she falls asleep to.
Amy wakes up in the morning. She is laying on top of Kamilahs chest. Kamilah is holding her close, only in underwear, Amy is only in Kamilah's blater. She tried to stand up, but Kamilah is holding her too strongly.
She nuzzle to her cheek with her nose, while stroking her silk hair between her fingers.
Amy: "Kamilah? Wake up"
Kamilah: "Hmm, no, you are not going anywhere."
Amy smile at the old vampire and lay at her chest again.
Amy: "Okay then"
They both continue sleep. And for once, both can sleep peacefully.

Kamilah: And I am scared that I'll not be on the bed anymore when I get up.
Amy: Why Kamilah?
Kamilah: Sleep.on.your.side.of.bed
Amy, nestled on Kamilah's chest: I am on my side, but the bed is so small it seems like I am too close to you.
Kamilah, hugging her close: I can't believe this, WE HAVE KING SIZED BED AMY.

Absence.
The lack of something or someone.
It is easy to describe the theoretical meaning of this word, but when it comes to experiencing it, it is not easy at all. Infact it is anything but easy.
But absence.
It is all he is left with.
The absence of her is everywhere he looks, its like a huge whole has been punched through his heart, but in a way it is the only way to remember she was real, that it was not his imagination.
He was afraid that the only good he had in his life was fake, he was afraid that he might realise that this was all dear imagination.
But in a way he wanted it to be a dream, cause if it was a dream he will wake up to her beautiful face and her heavenly smell, then he can forget all the things that happened.
But now fate loved to play with him hated to see him happy. Him being happy was something that the world hated. Something that he couldn’t be. Something that he could never have cause it wasn’t meant for him.
By now Adrian has accepted the fact that he could never have what his desired and this heart desired happiness, it desired love, but now how can he get that wouldn’t that be against the world.
He could never be happy while the only thing no -scratch that- the only person, that made him truly happy that made him whole was not with him and now could never be.
He held her, held his world, his happiness, his Amy in his arms as the life left her eyes and she pleaded not wanting to go.
When she closed her eyes it was like she took something with her she took a part of him, a part of his soul, of his heart.
Now standing in front of her grave, after burying her, it all hit him with a force, a force so strong that it crushed him, it crushed his already broken soul.
EVEN DEATH HAS A HEART
AMY RICHARD PARKER
1995 - 2021
A DAUGHTER , A SISTER AND AN AMAZING FRIEND
That quote, she read him from the book ‘the book thief’ and instantly declared it as her favourite, he never knew why she loved it so much. According to him death was cruel and had no heart, it was ruthless, it was something that took so much from him, but to her she noted death as a new beginning a change to meet their lost ones, the ones who were never forgotten by time and a chance to have a new start, finding peace.
But he didn’t believe that even a bit she wasn’t supposed to leave them she was supposed to live, there was so much for her to see and so much to learn she was taken to early from them.
Adrian didn’t realise that it had started to rain and he was drenched until he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned back to see it was her eldest brother Christopher.
“ you should go back its been a long a day , you should rest , I and Nathaniel will make sure everything is done here. “ and gave Adrian a slight sympathetic smile.
He couldn’t say anything but give a slight nod , but how could he say anything to this man in front him, he just lost his sister, he lost his princess, the girl he grew up with, the girl he practically raised by his own hands. He knew his grief was greater than anyone else’s.
‘ how can Christopher stomach to look at me let alone show me sympathy. After all I failed to protect his sister. I am the fucking reason his sister is dead, I promised him to protect her but I failed. Guess it runs in the blood, just like Amy, Chris also have a big heart. ‘ he thought to himself.
Chris told him that he understands that what Amy did was her choice. He said that he knew no one could have stopped her cause he knows who stubborn and protective she is for the people she loves. He said that ‘it runs in the blood’ , and laughed at it.
He started to make his way back HOME- no scratch that- there is no home now, there is no home without her.
Going back a pair of tear stricken red eyes met his similar ones.it was her middle brother Nathaniel, that boy was devastated and broken. Those once lively eyes where now blank. Nath’s eyes were fixed on his sister’s grave like he was still trying to process everything.
Lily was slumped against the tree, it was difficult for her to see her best friend like this. She saw her die and then saw her little left hope got crushed when Amy didn’t turn into vampire. She was broken.
Kamilah was trying to be strong but he saw it in his sister’s eyes that in a very less time Amy secured a special place in her heart and she was affected deeply by this.
Jax didn’t come to the funeral cause be said that attending it would force him to let her go and make it all to surreal for him.
The most difficult part was when they had to tell her family about what happened to her. He remembers that Nath picked the and it was on speaker. There was a 15 min silence on the line after they broke the news to them and the silence was broken by a heart wrenching sob and a huge crashing sound. Apparently Nath let out the sob and Chris threw the entire vine rack down on the floor.
It was easy for none of them.
Now Adrian had to deal with the next step that came after this 'GRIEVING' .

TW: Suicidal ideation, death
----
Every night it was the same dream. Darkness, and shadows, and her. Death never seemed so appealing as when He stood by her side. Then, she could make Hell itself enviable. Hell -
It had been days. How many, Amy couldn't say. But it didn't matter, really. Even a second in a world where she didn't exist was far too long.
The group came, and went, in their own time. They'd separated the hours between them, afraid to leave her alone. She'd told them it wasn't necessary, that she wouldn't do anything. But even then she hadn't the energy to lie convincingly.
No, truth be told, she'd join her in a heartbeat.
Death was cloaked, face hidden, as always. Her fingers entwined with his black gloved hand, her features darker, more striking. Her eyes were almost black, a far cry from the liquid gold that had watched Amy with desire. Amy tried to move towards her, but she was paralyzed. Unable to move, unable to speak - but it didn't stop the tears that streamed down her face.
The loop continued, just as it had every night since. Amy watched helplessly as the black robe stepped forward, Kamilah mirroring His movements like a marionette.
"This isn't right", thought Amy. "This isn't her."
Kamilah faltered, then, an interruption to the perfectly choreographed dream sequence. Something...new? Her eyes met Amy's, and for just a moment she saw her there. Her Kami.
But quickly as it happened, the black eyes returned and she dropped her gaze to the floor. Amy shifted her focus to Death, whose back was irregularly stiff. It seemed like hours that they stood there, no movement, no noise, just the fabric of the dream folding in on itself. Until...
Slowly, the black robe turned, bringing himself to face Amy. She stood, frozen in place, as He approached. He was only a few feet away when his black gloved hands reached up, pulling back the hood of his cloak.
There, where the face of the fourth horseman Himself should be, were two familiar bronze eyes.
"No," Amy thought, rage and panic dwelling inside her. The face before her grinned like the cheshire cat. He slowly raised his hand, stroking Amy's cheek.
"I've finally got my Queen," he said in a hoarse voice.
"No!!" Amy shrieked, jolting upright. "No, no, no!"
Lily crossed the room in two steps, enveloping Amy in her arms. "It's okay, Ames," she cooed. "It was just a dream."
Amy's eyes settled on the other side of the bed, cold and empty.
"No," she replied. "It's not."

See Through Me
Pairing: KamilahxMC
Summary: basically it's chaotic Lily, with lovesick Kamilah, then clueless Amy
Note: Set between BB1 and BB2.... and I did say that I would write after I'm settled with my classes but this was in my drafts so I just finished it. (just another way of saying I'm still not settle with my classes)
It has been a few weeks after the events with Vega in the cabin of Adrian upstate, despite that, Kamilah is still feeling some darkness waiting to emerge and cause havoc to the peace that they have. Kamilah is in her private elevator towards her office in Ahmanet financial to check some files before meeting with Lily to continue with their training. Lily may have moved in the shadow den and is also training with the vampires there, but the two of them continued their training in the studio in the office building of Kamilah. She may have grown a little fond of the fool but of course there are no hesitance in making sure that Lily becomes a strong vampire and she have made it her responsibility to look over her protégé.
And when she came out of the elevator, she sensed someone in her office, and the fact that it’s already late at night and all of her assistants and employees have already left the building she immediately withdrew her daggers to kill anyone whoever came into her office. Being as old as she is, she learned long ago that she should be ready with anything that can happen, which means she never go anywhere without her deadly jeweled dagger. When she got closer to the door with her fighting stance, she realized that it’s a vampire who is in her office but after hearing some weird noises-which is apparently a laugh- she knew that it’s Lily.
“What the hell are you doing in my office when you are supposed to be in the training studio?” she questioned with her daggers still on her hands.
Lily simply snorted without removing her eyes on her computer “Dude, the security of your computer is so shitty that a baby can get in here any moment.”
The older vampire knew that there’s no point talking to Lily when she’s transfixed in a computer. So, she just kept her blades and crossed her arms. “I assume you already modified some of the security settings” she said in an unimpressed tone.
“you’re welcome” after she finally looked at her and then the fool stood up and gave her a dramatic bow. But Lily immediately realized that she is not happy.
It’s not that she is not grateful with what Lily did but she is still in the process of trusting other people than Adrian. And after thousands of years of experiencing betrayal from different people, it’s just hard for her to just open up. Yes, she has gotten closer and got herself to trust the mortal best friend of Lily, Amy but that’s different for her. And she now considers Lily and Jax her friends though she would not say that out loud, that does not excuse what Lily did going through her computer.
“shit shit, I’m sorry Kamilah” Lily pleaded her “I swear I came here early and you were not in your office and when I sat in your chair, I saw the software and I…” the younger slumped and must have really felt sorry for her actions.
The older vampire just sighed and started walking to the door but before she opened it, she looked back to Lily “I’m expecting you to be in the studio in 5 minutes” she said with a devilish smirk on her face.
“damn, I’m getting my ass kicked so bad”
Once both of them are in their training outfit, they did separate warmups before having a hand to hand combat. Kamilah is not the kind of teacher that the students will love, instead she is strict but patient when it comes to training her proteges.
“You know, I’m actually torn if you should be master Shifu or Tigress” Lily said before they have their fighting stance. “I asked my gal Amy about that earlier and she said you’re definitely Tigress” Lily continued.
Kamilah did not know and did not care in whatever Lily was talking about but when she heard the name of her mortal, her interest has been piqued, however it was covered by her stoic façade. “I don’t know what that is, and your right leg is positioned wrong”
Lily did not respond or make any more comments throughout the training. And Kamilah felt a relief without those silly comments that the young vampire always has, perhaps she still feels guilty about what happened in her office. At the end of their training, Lily was lying on the floor with her arms and legs spread out and her eyes wide open.
“What the hell happened to you?” Kamilah asked but in her mind, she thought that younger vampires are so bloody dramatic. “you kicked me to a wall so many times I lost track, and I can’t even complain because this is like your revenge” Lily replied while trying to sit “and my girl is right you definitely are Tigress” she added. Kamilah would not have cared why she is being told to be like a female tiger though she remembered that Lily mentioned something about her mortal saying she is a tigress, she cannot bring herself to ask Lily about the thoughts of Amy.
To say that she wishes to know the thoughts of the mortal is an understatement, there are many questions in her mind about Amy. Does she think of the old vampire as often as she thinks of her? does she also feel like the world around them vanishes when it’s just the two of them in a room? does she know that the thought of her brings Kamilah to peace and comfort?
“Will you kill me if I ask if we can take a selfie together?” Lily asked while gathering her things.
“A what?” Kamilah knows that languages are dynamic but this woman with her is a chaotic dumbass that sometimes she wonders if she is just making up words.
“A picture together, Imma send it to Amy later” Lily said nonchalantly while taking out her phone.
She just huffed and nodded but if it was somebody else that asked her, she would’ve stabbed them already. She simply isn’t interested in taking pictures but the back of her mind tells her that she’s doing it because she wishes that her Amy would see her even in just a picture. Kamilah may not admit it but she knows that after a few weeks of knowing and spending time with Amy, she’s already acting like a lovesick fool as if her day will not be complete without the girl being a part of it. Even as small as hearing her name, seeing her across the conference table, smelling her scent, and feeling her presence is enough to make lighten up her mood.
Lily moved closer to her and took the goddamn picture. “alright and sent!” Lily said in a very enthusiastic way. “Why are you so energetic” Kamilah sighed and she really did not know how Lily gets this energy. “I think I am energetic too especially for someone who got her ass kicked a lot of times” the young vampire murmured while preparing to go out of the building “Adios Sayeed! Fuck you very much for the body pain” Lily as she walked away and the fool had the audacity to raise her middle finger at her and then running away like a scared child after she glared at her.
She made her way to her private suite within the building to freshen up as she plans to visit her mortal. Even though she is certain that Amy is not yet sleeping- she may have memorized the schedule of the girl- she sent her a message, to inform the young woman of her visit.
“The company is very welcome” Amy replied with an “emoji” that she still refuses to use and a series of hearts.
On the way to the young mortal’s apartment, the mind of the vampire was just around how she misses her and how she wants to hold her forever. Love, crossed her mind many times whenever these kinds of thoughts invade her mind and infect her heart. And her mind says that she is not yet ready for such attachments, but her heart says otherwise, the stupid thing on her chest just knows that Amy is the one that she has been unconsciously looking for. Like being blind for two thousand years and finally seeing such beautiful colors for the first time, all this time she was blindly looking for something and when her heart found it, her too smart brain just won’t allow it.
And when she reached and entered the apartment, warmth filled her body and her eyes felt moist as if tears are ready to come down her face, that will go through her lips as it formed an endearing smile reserved for the woman smiling back at her. Amy stood up to welcome her with a light embrace and she knew, she’s home, and that her mind has surrendered to her heart completely and irrevocably.
“Sorry for the late visit” she said sheepishly while sitting down in the living room which was quickly responded by Amy with a smile “I did say that the company is welcome” that eased her, something about this woman just comforts her. “How’s training with Lil?” the girl asked while taking her right arm to loop it around her body. She recalled and told her the events that happened a few hours ago that made the girl in her arms giggle.
“She did send me the selfie” Amy said.
So, it really was a word and not a thing that Lily just randomly came up with she thought “I’m certain I don’t need to ask to know if I look presentable in the picture” She said too confidently when the truth is, she just wants to hear the girl say something about her. Apparently falling in love is making her greedy of attention.
“Why does that sound like you just want me to say that you are absolutely gorgeous especially when it’s after being a badass” the young girl said while laughing which made the older woman raise her brows, then she added “but kidding aside, you always look amazing”
Kamilah hid the giddiness she felt on her body by kissing the crown of the younger woman’s head “I suppose that’s just how it is” which made Amy laugh again who stood up and took her hand then lead her to the room “You need sleep, you’re getting way ahead of yourself” and now it’s the vampire’s turn to laugh but she just followed her to the room where they settled. This was not the first time that she will be sleeping over so she already knew which clothes she can borrow and which side she would sleep in. Moments like this are treasured for Kamilah because they are able to build a foundation for their relationship, or whatever this is, with connection and not just sex. She loves the part where they act on their desires and lusts, but the nights where they just lay in bed and talk are something she really adore. To understand and be understood is something her soul has been longing for.
And as they lay together, holding each other close, she thought of all the times where she fell in love to someone, and how it was all nothing compared to what she is feeling for the woman beside her. “Thank you” Kamilah whispered randomly, which Amy still responded sleepily to “you’re welcome to stay here any time”
Little did the mortal know that she is so grateful for her bringing light to the ancient vampire’s life, for looking at her and not seeing a monster, for letting her experience all the best feelings she never thought she would feel, and for making her try to be a person worthy of her love.
It has only been weeks, and she is already in too deep.
Only been weeks, and she already swear to protect Amy with her life.
She’s been existing for two thousand years, but it has only been weeks since she has truly lived.

It's been two years since you wrote it but would you be willing to share snippets of Avery and Kamilah? Please give me more of our queen
Temptation's Call and all of your RE8 fics are *chefs kiss* btw.
Temptation's Call is old and I don't even dare to read it again because I'll notice so many things wrong with my writing I'll cringe. Butttt I'm glad you like it.
That being said;
Kamilah x Avery below the cut:
Avery belonged to the group of vampire hunters who stormed Gaius' castle at dawn to purge the vampire threat from their village.
She and Kamilah crossed blades at the raid, during which time the queen simply toyed with her, like a lioness playing with her food.
"Tell you what, little one. Land a single hit on me and I will let you live." she laughed haughtily.
To her utter shock, Avery did land a thin slash on her neck. Kamilah was both enraged and impressed to reach up and feel blood there.
Gaius, of course, wasn't too fond of the thought that his queen let a human escape after cutting her, so despite her shouting otherwise --she gave her word and she never went back on it, to a human or fellow immortal-- he grabbed Avery and sank his fangs into her neck.
Gaius drank her dry and changed her to prove a point. He liked the thought of subjugating a former hunter, of gifting her to Kamilah as a slave or a toy.
At first, Avery would take every chance she got to try and fling herself into sunlight, but Kamilah stopped her.
The two of them had a tense relationship for a year, though gradually started talking more. Surprisingly, they had a lot in common.
Physical attraction was an easy thing to occur between them, with their looks and preferences, but neither acted on it. They were still very much at each other's throats.
Avery only became a true 'vampire' mentally when Vega found evidence that she had been stolen from her real parents as a baby, to be raised as a warrior for the hunter order. Her love for humans turned to disgust, her trust shattered.
Priya took a liking to her early on and she was one of the few vampires Avery didn't find utterly intolerable.
As the years went on and the sexual tension with Kamilah reached a boiling point, the two of them eventually shared a passionate kiss that led to more.
Kamilah's relationship with Gaius strained further and further with his ideas of world domination and subsequently her closeness to Avery grew.
There were times when Kamilah felt oddly... soft, with her. Like she could see a future with her, one where Gaius wasn't anywhere near them.
It scared the queen to think this way.
In the end, when the vampires agreed that Gaius had gone too far, they all joined forces in the battle against him. Kamilah was the one to land the finishing blow.
Avery hugged her there and for a moment, just a moment, everything was peaceful.
And then the question of what to do with Gaius came into play.
It ruined everything.
Avery immediately said he needed to burn. Priya agreed with her and so did Baron. However, Adrian refused to put an end to him and swayed Lester to his side. Vega begrudgingly agreed Gaius' blood could be useful to them.
The deciding vote fell to Kamilah.
"You know what he's done to me. I need him dead." Avery hissed, eyes wide and looking into her lover's own.
But Kamilah could not do it. She had been through too much with Gaius. The love they once had may have been gone, but she could not watch him turn to ashes because of her vote.
Avery felt betrayed. Kamilah refused her the vengeance and closure she needed for years.
During the forming of the Council, Avery immediately opted out of being a clad leader. But when it was time for her and the remaining vampires to choose which leader they would follow...
Avery chose Priya.
Kamilah's and Avery's bridges were burned and never mended after that day. Their meetings after that point had been strictly business, brief and curt and to the point.
Whatever feelings still remain are a prized secret for both vampires.
They both recognize they have taken their separate ways, never again to be what they once were.
But... perhaps, in the distant future...

43 from the prompt list for Kadya
Spots To Kiss + 43 ― a kiss on the stomach
pairing: Kamilah x MC (Nadya Al Jamil) word count: 472 rating: teen+ content warnings: none find out more: HERE
note: this isn’t much of a finished piece; I gave myself 15 minutes and knew if I let it go longer than that I wouldn’t finish it because I tend to do that often. so yeah it seems to cut off somewhere weird but it’s still kinda cute? like a snapshot into their softer lives
⥼ FIC MASTERLIST ⥽
Tumblr media
Kamilah always looks beautiful. It’s just kind of… her brand. One of those immutable facts of nature and the universe; like the sky being blue or vampires being real.
Still, Nadya has no idea why she can’t think of anything else at the moment.
Kamilah looks beautiful. Kamilah looks beautiful. Kamilah looks beautiful.
And she does.
Maybe that’s why.
Her lips are soft where they graze over Nadya’s middle. There’s nothing inherently lustful about the act — maybe that’s why she can’t stop watching. Not that she’d look away if it were something to do with lust but… she can’t quite put her finger on it. Crapola.
Hot breath whispers along her skin. Barely even an exhale; definitely not something made of words or thoughts. It’s almost unconscious in how easily Kamilah just… pretends to breathe against her.
“Why do you do that?” Nadya finds herself asking before she can be stopped. Not that she knows who would have stopped her, but it would have been nice to have the option for the record.
Kamilah pauses. That breath gone in an instant — like a candle snuffed out by a strong wind.
Then she gently rests the bottom of her defined chin right below her human’s navel. Smooth skin like a stone worn at over the centuries until, like the rest of her, even her jaw is polished and perfect.
When Nadya inhales (because some of them don’t breathe on a whim, thank you very much) Kamilah allows her head to rise and fall with the body beneath her. The movement drags their skin together; it tickles the soft ghosting of darker hair that trails down from her belly button and cuts off around the curve of her stomach.
“Are you asking why I’m kissing you, Nadya?” Kamilah seems genuinely curious, too. Arched eyebrow and everything and oh no no that’s — shoot — that’s not what she meant!
“No no, I mean the thing.”
“Use your words.”
She lets her head fall back against the plush pillows with a groan. She’s trying, darn it!
“The thing —” — trying again and this time with a wave of her hand in no particular direction, as if that will somehow mime her thoughts — “— the uh… the breathing thing. I was just wondering why you seem to pretend to breathe more when we’re like… this.”
A smirk quirks just so at the corner of Kamilah’s lips.
“When we are intimate? You can say the word, it certainly wouldn’t be the foulest of language you’ve used in this bed.”
Oh don’t remind her… “I was tipsy. That doesn’t count. And you’re avoiding the question!”
Judging by the impressed look that flickers over Kamilah’s face in the darkness, she hadn’t expected Nadya to notice. It doesn’t last long but it’s there and you bet your butt she’s taking it as a victory.

Bloodbound Serafine Dupont x MC (Jane) one shot
Time period: When they go to Mydeia to find the Tree of Eternal Life to get a weapon from it.
918 words
On his last breath, The leader of The Order pressed the button of the device. Powerful explosions started in the facility.
"What the hell!"
Lily shouted
Adrian helped wounded Serafine to stabilize her balance and ushered her towards door.
"We gotta go, it's a self destruction sequance this place will collapse."
Kamilah took Jane's hand and started running with Lily and Jax behind them. They were running with all their might, legs burning, they barely escaped out of harm's way. Everyone was out of breath, panthing.
"I.. had enough exercise.. for life time."
Jane groaned
"You have damn well stamina.. for a human Jane. I'll give you that."
Serafine said with admiration
"I can only do my best."
She answered with pride.
"That's Jane to you."
Kamilah spoke while she took off her uniform.
A deep sadness captured the group on their way to the boat.
"We got what we need. But at what cost?"
Adrian said with grief
"They're going to pay for everything. I'll make sure of it."
Jax said with an angry expression.
"Seconded, but can we get out of here already? This place is literally draining my life energy."
Serafine said.
Jane easily noticed the restlessness in her voice. She touched her arm reassuringly. They made a short eye contact and there was a silent communication between them.
When they reached the boat, Adrian and Lily quickly untied the ropes and prepared for takeoff.
Jax took the helm. Kamilah and Jane started the engine together.
The boat started to sail in the dark of night... When they reached the villa everyone was tired and thoughtful. Finally Jax ended the silence.
"I will go to the wine cellar. You guys can follow me if you want to treat yourself."
"Now you're talking to my language."
Adrian started to follow Jax with Lily behind him.
Jane approached to Serafine with a polite smile.
"Serafine, a moment please? There is something I want to talk with you."
Serafine easily noticed the worry in her voice
"Why of course Jane. I have always time for you."
Kamilah stood up on that note.
"I will be taking a little walk on the beach. You guys take care."
Serafine smiled and nodded politely. Jane squeezed her shoulder reassuringly.
"Be careful honey we're not out of the woods yet."
"Don't worry about it."
Kamilah started walking away and Jane sat down next to Serafine.
"Serafine, sorry I couldn't talk with you properly because of all this running I can't even imagine how hard it was. How are you holding up? Did they hurt you?"
"A little, but not a big deal."
Jane took her hand and caressed it.
"Don't act tough please, and I didn't mean just physically."
"Okay you got me I'm pretty messed up but It's easier to hide that you know."
"I know.. Unfortunately. I was going to say you can feed on me if you want."
Serafine's eyes opened with excitement.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I've been hanging with vampires long enough to know that it'll help your recovery. Besides, I want to help."
Serafine smiled happily.
"Have you done this before?"
"Yes."
"Let me guess.. Kamilah."
Jane blushed.
"Positive."
"She has a great taste in women.. Just like me."
Serafine said with a mischievous wink
"She has indeed, now lead the way before I die due to embarrassment."
With that being said she took Jane's hand in hers, tugged her into bedroom. She took her in her arms and slowly pushed her down to mattress. Serafine leaned and kissed Jane's cheek. Jane turned her head to the side so that she could reach her neck comfortably. Serafine pulled her hair aside and took her time kissing, gently sucking Jane's neck. When she pierced through her skin where the vein passing through Jane couldn't help herself and moaned
"Ahh!"
Serafine calmed her by stroking her cheek. Jane relaxed into her touches, closes her eyes puts her hand to Serafine's hair while she's affectionately sucking blood from her neck. The pain was fading away slowly and she started to feel a tingling sensation. Serafine started to regain her energy, the injury marks on her body quickly healed. She felt Jane's grasp on her hand was weakening after a while. She stopped sucking and pressed the wound with a soft handkerchief to stop the bleeding. She licked the blood left on her lips and teeth with a grin.
She cut her wrist with her fangs poured her blood on Jane's neck bite mark and the wound healed.
"Thank you Jane. You have no idea how much I needed this. I'll never forget that."
"My pleasure."
"You're kinda intoxicating by the way. For a second I thought I couldn't be able to stop."
Jane sighed
"Seriously, it was hot, like, really hot, but also tiring."
Serafine kissed Jane's cheek affectionately.
"Mon chéri! You are exhausted due to blood loss. You need some rest. I'll get some water for you."
Serafine got out of bed, poured water from the jug into a glass by her bedside table and handed it to Jane.
"Thanks."
Serafine responded with an energetic smile. Her breathing slowed and her eyes began to close as Serafine started to caressing her hair.
Serafine whispered:
"It looks like you're about to sleep. Do you want me to stay with you a little longer?"
Jane answered lazily without opening her eyes:
"I would."
Serafine reached out and kissed her hair one last time and Jane fell into a peaceful sleep...
