Hey I love, love, LOVE your writing for mirage and noah but I can only find smut, could you write fluff + angst abt the reader getting hurt or something? I honestly dont care. I just want someone other then smut
!Spoiler alert for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts!
I absolutely can because luckily for you, my two favorite things to write (either separately or together) is angst and smut. My partner jokes about it all the time haha.
This will be set in the same kinda story/universe as the other two parts, but this is after those. Though you don't have to read them to understand this part.
I ended up going through 2 different drafts of this before I was satisfied with this one haha. First one I started waaaay too far back and it would have taken too long to get to the angst. I didn't like the 2nd one just because I didn't feel like it fit the prompt well enough. But I really like this one, so I feel like it was worth it.
Hope you enjoy though <3
One Hell of a Mission

Tags: heavy angst and injury of the reader, GN!reader (they/them and gender neutral pet names used for the reader), blood, guns/blasters, canon typical violence, hospitals and medical stuff, the reader survives.
Story begins after the break
Tumblr media
Being ex-military for you meant that you never wanted to see war again. You just wanted to work as a mechanic and live out the rest of your days as a civilian, even if you'll never truly feel like one again. You lost too many friends while trying to fight for a country and a cause you never really believed in. Those of you that did make it out alive were still scarred, whether it was physical or mental didn't matter.
But Noah, your former fellow soldier crashed into your life again and threw your dream of being normal out the window... from the 10th story. He was in your battalion so you often fought next to him, that was, before he was discharged. You didn't know exactly what happened, but you were told that he was dishonorably discharged for abandoning his post. However, the Noah you knew would never have done that. It didn't feel right.
When Noah came to you that night with a very expensive looking car that you didn't know how he came into posession of, you almost wanted to punch him when the car turned into a giant fucking robot inside your garage. It wasn't the normal life you wanted, and that night catapulted you into yet another war that you never wanted to be a part of.
However, you couldn't completely hate Noah for it. That event gave you two boyfriends that you would gladly go to war again for. Noah and Mirage were much more than you bargained for, but in a good way.
Which is why when someone reached out to you for an interview, and Noah said it was the same place that reached out to him, you decided to go. You were happy with your job as a mechanic, especially since you owned your own shop. When you asked them if it had anything to do with your current job, they assured you it did.
That's how you began working for a seceret organization called GI Joe. Even though you knew it meant you'd get thrown into war again eventually.
That's exactly what happened.
.
You take a deep breath and shift in the passenger seat within Mirage. Noah is next to you in the driver seat, and he glances over at you. The two of you are both wearing a matching gauntlet that Mirage gave you both what feels like an eternity ago close to when you first met.
"Everything okay, sugar?" Mirage asks, his radio lighting up when he speaks, since you weren't listening to music.
"Yeah, I'll be okay," You answer. Though you're acutely aware that Mirage is taking both of you into a battle. The Decepticons have landed on Earth, looking to plunder it for resources until it's a smoking husk. So you as well as the Autobots and Maximals are fighting back with the help of the GI Joe organization.
"Jitters again?" Noah asks and you purse your lips as you nod slowly.
"But I can work through it. I always do," You say, not wanting to worry your partners. However, Noah reaches over the center console and takes your tense hand in his own, softly smoothing his thumb over your knuckles.
"You don't have to work through it alone, mi amor," Noah reminds you gently.
"Yeah, you've got us now," Mirage says, prep in his voice as he tries to keep the mood up despite the dire situation about to be at hand.
"That's what worries me," You admit. "I lost so many friends in the field... I can't lose a partner. Hell, we almost lost Mirage last time."
"I'm still here, though. That's because of you two," Mirage says, trying to reassure you, and it works... a little.
"I guess," You say with a soft sigh.
You finally begin to relax, but only because you're starting to slip into your soldier headspace. The one you've adopted for the field out of survival. It allows you to make calm decisions under pressure and assess any situation presented to you. You slowly pull your hand away from Noah's and fiddle with your gauntlent a bit so you don't make it seem like you were pulling away from him because you didn't want to hold his hand anymore. Even if that was the partial truth. Holding his hand made you feel comfortable and it was preventing you from fully getting into your headspace.
It's not much longer before Mirage skids to a stop just before the crest of a hill. You and Noah get out as Mirage begins to transform and the three of you look up over the hill. Optimus Prime and the Maximals are already here at the rendevous, and below, Megatron and the others are attacking an airforce base already. Searching for jet fuel, Optimus had explained, as it's incredibly energon rich.
"Mirage," Optimus Prime begins, "You and the humans will go with the Maximals to attack from here. I and the other Autobots will flank them and attack from the other side in a second wave. It should cause confusion and that's what we need."
With that, the group breaks into two, and you glance back at Cheetor, Rhinox, and Primal. This is a good group to attack with. You have to hand it to Optimus, he really does know how to strategize. But he has had millenia longer than you to develop his skills.
You take a deep breath as Mirage transforms and takes off. The maximals follow, Primus taking the lead for them. You and Noah run after them, sliding down the loose sand of the hill. When you get to the bottom of the hill, you push off and roll to keep your momentum and continuing to run. Noah is next to you as you both raise your gauntlents and begin to fire at a few of the Decepticon's that were tearing through the jets on the runway.
You glance at Mirage and see him transform as he launches himself at one of the Decepticon's that you don't know the name of. The only one you do know about is Megatron, and he's nowhere to be seen. Presumably inside the base. It's yours and the Maximal's job to draw him out.
You dart to cover as the Decepticon's begin to return fire. You've dove behind a broken wing of a jet lodged in the sand, and Noah isn't in sight. Hopefully he found some cover too. Given the amount of debris though, you're hopeful he did.
With a deep breath, you find a break in the blasts skimming the sand, sending droplets of glass splaying everywhere. You peek around the side of the debris and fire at the enemies you see. Though you can't fire at many of them, as the Maximals and Mirage are fighting in close combat with the others.
Fuck.
You have to get closer.
You grit your teeth as you hide back behind the debris. When another break in the fire happens, you dash out from behind your hiding spot, running past Noah for your big push. You hide behind one of the remaining in tact jets, the wings doing wonders to hide you from the much larger robots clashing. Metal being damaged screams and fills the air, much louder now that you're closer.
Cheetor in his robot mode and a Decepticon careen past you, their footsteps shaking the pebbles on the ground at your feet. This is a good hiding spot, but you can't do anything from here.
You begin to run towards another jet, using your limited time in the open to fire a few more blasts at the enemies. One of them turns towards you, and you hope that you managed to slip under this jet before they saw you. Worried they did, you hide behind the landing gear. So if a bot were to investiage, they wouldn't see you with just a glance.
But the jet begins to lift from above you, and you whip around with wide eyes as a bot stares down at you while holding the jet up. Its hands dent the metal as it stares down at you. In a split second you raise your blaster and fire, and though it hits the bots shoulder and leaves a smouldering mark, it doesn't deter them. The bot just lets out a roar-like noise and sends the jet flying with just its one arm. You turn to run, but the bots arm shoots out and grabs you. Its grip is nearly crushing as it pulls you up to its face.
"It's amusing that you think a human like you can stand up to the Decepticons," The bot sneers as you struggle weakly in its grip. Pain searing through your entire body hotly as your adrenaline spikes.
"Let go of me!" You scream, before gasping as the wind is forcefully knocked out of you by the bot squeezing you tighter in its hand.
"I can crush you with just my hand, insect," The bot growls, and just as your vision was starting to cloud, something slams into the bot. The sound of metal colliding and ripping sounds far away to your ears as you drop to the ground limply.
The pain of the impact with the concrete has you in agony. You can't move, your ears are ringing as all you can do is helplessly stare at the blue sky. Mocking you with how beautiful of a day this is, when really it should be storming like it does in all of those dramatic books about war and romance.
Your warm blood begins to pool around you, soaking into the concrete. You don't know from where you're bleeding or if it will be fatal. All you know is that you were right. You shouldn't have gone back into a war. You should have stayed the humble mechanic, not knowing anything about the Autobots or Decepticons. But if you didn't do this, you never would have truly met Noah. You never would have known Mirage existed. One of two who make you feel like you finaly belong, and deserve to be loved.
It feels like both a second and an eternity before you see Noah's panicked face looking down at you. He's yelling something, but you can't really hear it. Everything sounds like you're underwater. The pain is fading, but so is your conciousness. You can't feel your legs. You feel Noah holding your face as you blink slowly up at him, his fingers are slick with your blood, black dots flash across your vision.
It's cold.
.
Noah saw you fall when Mirage brutally attacked the Decepticon that was hurting you, and he had ran to you as fast as he could. He was trying to see if you could talk or tell him something, but you didn't say anything to him. You only looked at him when he held onto your face. It wasn't good. Especially since blood was quickly pooling under you.
"Hey! (Y/n) stay with me!" Noah cries out as you blink up at him.
"It's cold," You whisper. Barely even audible to Noah, and he curses after he hears you say that. It's really not good.
Noah stayed with you, holding onto you until the battle ended. They weren't able to defeat the Decepticon's, the enemy having retreated before any real damage could be done. When Mirage falls by yours and Noah's side, his large hands gently cradling your limp body and picking you up, Optimus Prime's optics soften. Guilt fills the Autobot leader as he walks up next to Mirage.
"I'm truly sorry, Mirage," Optimus begins, placing his hand on Mirage's shoulder to try and steady the smaller bot. "I know you were close with this human."
"They're still alive," Mirage mumbles, unable to tear his optics away from your body in his hands.
"We need to get them to paramedics," Noah says, "quickly."
"Then let's go," Mirage says, voice firm as he transforms around you and opens a door for Noah. You lay in his back seat as he tears off, towards human civilization.
.
You slowly blink your eyes open, confused as your surroundings are completely foreign to you. The area looks and feels sterile as nearly everything is white. Dim lights surround you, and when you glance to your left, you see large glass doors and a curtain pulled back so you can see through the glass and into what looks like a lobby.
"Where am I?" You ask, not expecting an answer, but you look to your right when you hear something like fabric shifting.
"Y-You're awake?"
It's Noah. He was sitting in the chair next to the bed you're in. He looks exhausted, dark bags under his eyes, and his hair is a mess. It's frizzy and fluffed up in all kinds of different directions. He looks like hell.
"Yeah, I'm awake," You respond, still confused as you look down and see yourself tucked neatly into a hospital bed. A light blue gown decorating your body. Tubes seeming to come from everywhere on your body. "What happened?"
"You were seriously injured in battle," Noah says slowly, hesitant. Like if he says the wrong thing you'll be lost again. "Mirage tried to help, but it just made you fall."
You blink slowly, squeezing your eyes shut as you try to wrack your memory. You vaguely remember talking with Noah inside Mirage about a battle. And some things from the battle flash in your mind. But it's difficult to recall much of anything.
"Is Mirage okay?"
"Yes, he's fine. He only had minor injuries that I was able to help fix. I've got a communicator if you want to speak to him," Noah explains and you press your lips together in thought.
Your head is still foggy and you still feel exhausted as you lean back against the bed again. Your mouth feels like it's made of cotton. "I need water."
"Okay, I'll get you some. Just let me know if you want to talk to Mirage," Noah says as he pushes himself to a standing position. You nod a bit in return, but it just serves to make you feel like you're going to hurl.
Noah leaves the room, speaking to a nurse who was sitting at a station outside of your room. He nods and stands, leaving his post briefly to talk to another nurse who talks with Noah before heading out of your view. Noah comes back in and smiles at you, even though he looks dead tired.
"They're getting you some," He says and sits back in the chair to your right again.
"I'm so glad you're alive," Noah admits, laying his forehead on the edge of the bed next to you as he reaches out to hold your hand. "I thought we lost you... They had you on the ventilator, and even though I knew you were alive, it just felt wrong seing you being forced to breathe like that."
"I'm sorry I scared you," You murmur, "I'm sorry I scared Mirage too."
"It's not your fault," Noah responds, lifting his head slowly. "I don't care about what happened, I care about now."
"I want to see, Mirage." Your heart pangs with longing to see your other partner, and you wish he could come to see you while you're here. You're sad that he can't because of the nature of who he is.
"I know." Noah's voice is quiet, and you can almost feel how sad he is just form his tone of voice.
"You should sleep," You gently urge Noah who chuckles a bit, without much humor to it, before smiling up at you.
"Even like this, you still worry about me," He says, admiration in his tone as he looks over you.
A soft knock comes from the sliding door, and a nurse comes in as you and Noah look up at them. "The doctor reccommended just ice right now since we haven't tested your ability to swallow yet. Is that okay?"
"Yes, I just need something," You answer and the nurse smiles gently as they walk over to you and use a spoon to pick up a piece of ice. They place it in your mouth and the relief is almost immediate as it begins to melt and soothe the cotton in your mouth away.
There's one thing you're beginning to realize as the fog slowly clears from your mind. This will be a long recovery process.
.
You were right. It was nearly a week longer that you spent in ICU, and then another in regular care, before you got sick of it. You hated being forced to be unable to do anything for yourself. Christ you couldn't even use the bathroom without a nurse having to help you. It was humiliating. Especially for someone as independant as yourself.
But when you were able to be swept into Mirage's arms again and held by him as he cried over you, it was worth it. He was so gentle with you, it almost brought you to tears as well. You were so happy to be home in Mirage's and Noah's arms.
You're a soldier.
You'll always be a soldier.
But it's not so bad when you have Mirage and Noah with you.
