let’s talk about juneteenth…
listen up, i’m gonna say what i have to say nice and respectfully, so y’all can understand and be educated. i’m in no way the spokes person for all black people, but i’m using the small voice that i do have in hopes that everyone will still amplify it and help me educate.
for those who are unaware, juneteenth (first officially celebrated june 19th 1866) is the date the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. note that this was two and a half years after president lincoln’s emancipation proclamation – which had become official january 1, 1863. but guess what? it took two years for it to reach the texan slaves.
and even then, it wasn’t like slaves just chucked up the peace sign to their masters and walked out. some slave lives were threatened by their owners if they even thought about leaving. whites and blacks didn’t just join hands and sing kumbayah together. work still needed to be done. they weren’t out of the woods just yet and we still aren’t today.
it wasn’t until 2021 that juneteenth was made a federal holiday. but if you’re wondering why so many are feeling negatively toward it becoming a holiday, it’s basically because we feel gaslighted in a sense. we asked for extensive voting rights protections, job training, anti-lynching laws, criminal justice system overhaul and reparations and so much more. but all it seems like is that white folks gave themselves another day off work. true definition of “what we asked for” vs “what we got”.
and before you say we should just be happy it’s being recognized, let me tell you something. black folks had already recognized and celebrated it for decades. as candice benbow, a cultural commentator stated: we were still gonna have our festivals, pageants, cookouts, fish fry’s, and gatherings (small or not). we didn’t need to be given a day off work to do stuff we were already gonna do. we needed you to actually do something to change the conditions of our lives.
as much as i love all my bipoc’s (black, indigenous, people of color) this is a black holiday. not a bipoc one. show your support for the black community please. below are some images from instagram with some information on what juneteenth as a holiday means, and what you can do to show your support (cred is tagged in each pic):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
just a quick note: if you’re white, please don’t be performative. don’t wear a t-shirt with juneteenth on it or anything because it will be a problem for most. don’t constantly feel like you need to show everyone you’ve donated to organizations or the community and that you’re an ally. there’s no need to prove that you are “one of the good whites”, so don’t be more of an activist than the black community. it’s rude, distasteful, and frankly, annoying as hell. trust me when i say this:
you are not more “woke” than us, and you never will be.

Guys!! Great news!!! BLM is back on trending!!! Now we have to get Stop Asian Hate back up there too!
Here’s a casual reminder that just because most protests were a year ago Black Lives always have, and always will Matter.
Gay Black Lives Matter
Lesbian Black Lives Matter
Disabled Black Lives Matter
Mspec Black Lives Matter
Transgender Black Lives Matter
Aspec Black Lives Matter
Nonbinary Black Lives Matter
All Black Lives Matter.
They always have, they always will.
Briana Taylor and other black people wrongfully murdered have still not gotten their justice. Think this through. The year we’ve been advocating and we still hardly got anything for true justice and equality. The world still does not seem to value black lives.
AND Stop Asian Hate.
Asian people are being heavily mistreated on such a horrible level, especially now with Covid-19. People have been using it as an excuse to be racist towards more specifically Asain POC. The amount of Asain people being affected by these violent acts of racism that others are putting out should be illegal.
To the Asain person reading this,
You are loved
You are worthy
Your culture is not a fetish
You are so beautiful and unique and amazing
And while we’re on this topic, Protect Muslim Lives!!! The concentration camps in China are still!!! There!!! Islamophobia is another horrible thing that’s been spreading around recently!! LITERALLY CONCENTRATION CAMPS ARE UP WHERE THEY ARE FORCING MUSLIMS TO GO AGAINST THEIR RELIGION AND DOING SO MANY UNSPEAKABLE THINGS!!!
To the Muslim person reading this,
Allah loves you
You are such an amazing follower. I believe he appreciates you more than you know
You are wonderful
You are beautiful
You are not a burden
JUST BECAUSE THESE TOPICS ARE NO LONGER “TRENDING” DOESNT MEAN THE INTERNET SHOULD NOT CARE!!! THESE ARE IMPORTANT TOPICS WHICH ARE NOW BEING LOOKED OVER. DO BETTER.
Also, if I said anything bad, or spread any wrong information, let me know please! I’m a white Christian person, so I’m not 100% sure I got all of the Muslim and POC related topics 100% correct. If I said anything wrong, it will be fixed! Thank you :)

Hello! This is your daily reminder that Thomas Edison did NOT invent the lightbulb, he stole it from a black man named Lewis Latimer.
Tumblr media
Thomas Edison actually stole most of his inventions, so next time you think about him, think “man, fuck that guy”.

Hello everyone, I dont know whether there's other south Africans on this app but please spread, this is about the safety of people. Please reblog, thank you!
Continue reading to find out what's happening:
Former president Jacob Zuma was imprisoned and now there are protesters, violent protesters walking the streets and causing chaos because they want him freed. The problem is not only them be violent but it is because they are fighting for the freedom of a man who bankrupted a country. He was found guilty of contempt. They are looting shops, malls, houses and not only are the protesters doing this. So are the police officers, the fucking cops. As I am writing this there are helicopters circling around and sometimes there are gunshots.
Journalists and news teams are being attacked and I am watching the news, from what is said that defense force might only be at national key points.. Police officers that are ACTUALLY doing there jobs are using tear gas.
We're on the third wave... Please spread this!
Edit #2 : ALSO ITS NOT CONFIRMED, THERE MIGHT BE ELECTRICAL AND WATER SHORTAGES! PLEASE MAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS!
Edit #3 : Hello again, so I would to update with a wonderful edit. Apparently 3 to 7 people have died on Phoenix, an area I live close to. Death is unknown.
SOUTH AFRICAN WATCH THE NEWS PLEASE
Edit #4 : confirmed: 6 deaths and 200+ arrests
Edit #5 : I would like to say that I will not continue to update! It has been a bit exhausting mentally to me
Edit #6 : if you can, please someone explain to me what the president said and I know its 2:30am but that's because there was a loud noise outside and everyone wake up. And I need to mention that if you're Indian or living in an indian area, stay safe because from what I've heard people, or 'protesters' will be raiding and killing people..
Thank you to those who read this

Materials used
Cold press ( from atrangi store , mumbai) thats a fine quality coldpress in cheap price
Synthetic brush (camlin) . Generally it is good to prefer animal hair brush over this. But if you cant afford , money matters could not come off as hindrance. Camlin is best .
Camlin poster colors can be used for watercoloring on cold press , generally they are chalky so they are avoided . But i tried something different to achieve the same touch like when true watercolors are used.
I hope you will like my try.

Pervis Payne has another petition to get his case back in court for revision through The Innocence Project. This wrongly convicted man has been sitting on death row for 33 years now and his execution dates have been set and changed several times, the last execution date was supposed to go through Dec 3, 2020 but was reprieved until April 9, 2021. He can now be set for an execution at any time. https://innocenceproject.org/petitions/stop-execution-pervis-payne/
It takes under one minute to add your name in support of getting him off death row
In 1987 Pervis Payne was waiting outside for his girlfriend to get back to her apartment when commotion from the neighboring apartment drew his concern and when he walked in he discovered the deceased bodies of a white woman and her two year old daughter. He went into a panic and called the police and only soon before their arrival did the thought occur to him he could be accused. Upon police arrival they arrested him with no evidence of enactment of the crime and racial bias. Since then he has been in prison and on death row in Tennessee.

Help Rocky Myers, a black man with an intelectual disability who's scheduled to be executed, despite having 0 evidence to punish him.
He was convicted by a overwhelming white jury, one of which used racial slurs to describe Rocky. Rocky doesn't have a history of violence.
He also had an awful lawyer who gave up in the middle of the case.
Here's the petition, where you'll find more info as well: http://chng.it/ZXfWDSrwKT
Another petition that is extremely close to its goal, please share and sign: https://action.aclu.org/petition/save-rocky-myers#readmore
For more info on how the case is going: https://clemencyforrockymyers.wordpress.com/
Please share. Rocky is an innocent man who needs justice. Let's not let this happen again.
