Feel
Promise me you’ll never change you’re beautiful exactly as you are Even if I cannot be the lucky one I shall always love you from afar When we first met, I remembered and felt what I’d forgotten to feel How can I make you feel the same I don’t know how to seal this deal
I love you, though you’re not mine for I cannot give your heart to me
You’d be my queen, we’d be as one yet what can I do to make you see I write and I cry, I even bleed for you you're the only one within my heart And I can see no end to my desire but you’re the one fire I cannot start I know forever I will keep loving you that I could never hope to change Still waking up alone without you here will eternally feel a little bit strange

Feb 10 - Bleed - @wolfstarmicrofic - word count: 497
cw - minor injury detail
They crashed through the door. Lily and Remus had been sitting in the living room. Remus had been increasingly keeping Lily company of late. Her pregnancy had been difficult for both Lily and James. Although a time of joy, both of them were frightened, frustrated, tired of having to pretend that everything was alright. James had asked him to stay with Lily whilst he and Sirius had business for the Order. There had been reports of Death Eater sightings less than ten miles from Godric's Hollow, and Sirius had insisted they take the fight to them.
Remus had found Sirius' demands troubling. Although it was important they were cautious, such an aggressive course of action seemed reckless ... and suspicious...
"Help me, Moony!" James called.
Remus was in the hallway in a moment, horrified by the scene that greeted him.
Sirius was slumped heavily against James, his head lulling, a dark, crimson stain of blood blooming through his shirt.
Remus rushed forward, took position at Sirius' other side, and followed Lily's instructions as she called, "Bring him to the kitchen!"
With great difficulty, Remus and James guided him to the kitchen and towards the large wooden table.
"What happened?" Lily asked, helping Sirius shrug off his jacket.
Sirius cried out in pain.
"It was a trap," James explained, trying to ease Sirius back. "They knew we were coming."
"But how -"
"The spy!" Sirius snapped, cursing as Lily tried to peel his shirt from him to examine the extent of the injury.
"Let Moony do it," James insisted.
Remus saw the flicker of relief pass across Lily's face, although he himself was unsure.
Sirius growled, but before he could say anything further, James interrupted, "You know he is better than any of us at healing charms. So don't be an idiot, Padfoot."
Pain stole any further protestations, and Sirius snarled through gritted teeth, 'Fine. Just get on with it."
Remus tried to be gentle as he peeled Sirius' shirt away. But the blood had caused it to stick to the wound, and Sirius cried out as it tugged at the gash across his chest.
"It's okay. It's going to be okay," Remus said without thinking, softly, and with more warmth than he had used with Sirius for many months.
It had an instant effect. Remus saw the confusion, the sadness, muddled with the pain that flitted across Sirius' face. Tenderly, Remus inspected the wound; a four inch slash that had bled profusely but wasn't as bad as it looked.
Sirius waited apprehensively for the verdict. Remus looked up from the wound and said, "It will be fine. I can fix this..."
The words, spoken and unspoken, hung between them...
I can fix this.
We can fix this.
We can fix everything.
Sirius' reply was curt when it came, shot through with pain and a resolve to not fix what was broken between them.
"Fine," he said, lying back so Remus could get to work. "If only to stop me ruining the kitchen table."

Altrimenti ....sopravvivi

i think i might have to DNF Bleed (flesh & bone book 2), the story is just not interesting enough to distract me from a bunch of small issues. like 2 characters fucking in an elevator that was most certainly established to be made of glass in the previous book, when they cant afford to let anyone know about their relationship. and why could none of the other wolves track the hunter's scent on the night of the incident? and nicolae's hostility towards his son has never made any sense. but the real dealbreaker was meeting mason's mother, and old romanian woman who lives in a riverside cottage, in romania, who speaks indistinguishably from a hip modern american. which is a bleedover from the first book, but it really comes across as zero effort taken to make this place feel any different from simply taking place in america (aside from mentioning public transport), and i dont care for it.

As you all know, I read a lot of books about health feminism and the biases in medicine that threaten us all. Bleed: Destroying Myths and Misogyny in Endometriosis Care by Tracey Lindeman, is one of the best of these reads that I've dug into for quite some time. Lindeman focuses in specifically on endometriosis and similar issues of chronic pelvic pain and illness. She channels her anger over her own experience into a superb summary of a book about the issues, horrors, and biases that the healthcare system imposes on people assigned female at birth.
This book digs into a lot of the biggest issues. Endo is deeply, desperately common, and yet the delay from onset to diagnosis is horrifically long. She describes all the meds and excuses given to get patients to go away when most experts agree that excision is the best solution for endo patients and their pain. She digs into the resistance of all doctors to hysterectomy, and all its roots in doctors' prioritizations of women's possible fertility over their wellbeing and daily pain. She exposes the dehumanization and horror of medical trauma, opening up brutally about her own literal PTSD from some of her horrific doctor's appointments. All people who have been dismissed, traumatized, and hurt at the doctor's office will learn something from this book and be inspired by Lindeman's own painful journey and advocacy, and people with endometriosis in particular will find this an absolute must-read.
Lindeman also does the best job of nearly all the books I've read so far at inclusivity. Many writers will acknowledge trans issues and women of color, for example, and then be clear that most of what they're about to talk about is applicable to cis women or women assigned female at birth, and then move on. Lindeman takes time at every step of the way to dig into the ways things are even worse for queer, trans, and gender non-conforming populations, to use inclusive language, and to highlight the separate or worse biases that people of color face in the same situations.
Content warnings for misogyny, fatphobia, suicidal ideation, medical trauma, body horror, domestic abuse, PTSD and anxiety, and mentions of miscarriage and suicide.
