45 episodes for Olicity’s first kiss. It felt like 100 years.  My longest wait is Josh and Donna. 146 friggin episodes. Yeesh.

Also - I reject Delena’s first kiss being in 3x10. Elena kissed Damon in 2x22. It was sweet. It counted. End of discussion for me.

What do you think of the alternate ending? It’s such a half-assed and pathetic bait attempt at giving viewers who disowned the show to buy the DVD in hopes of seeing one tiny glimpse of the ending that should’ve been, IMHO

That’s exactly what it is, yeah. I have no time for it because while it’s a more appropriate ending, it’s not remotely what the ending should be, and it doesn’t avert most of the ridiculous and OOC puppeteering that only existed to set up the aired finale. It made no sense for Barney and Robin to get divorced, it makes no sense for Ted and the Mother not to get married until 8 years into their relationship (or however long it was, I’m fuzzy on the details). Then there’s the earlier nonsense that’s just as bad.

Really, if you want to fix it, you have to go back to at least mid season 8.

To me, if you're a hardcore B/R shipper with a high tolerance for bullshit and soapiness, the best series finale is 8.12. You get the big sweeping arcs and angst, the most genuinely romantic line in the series ('that day is just no good'), the giant cinematic moments, and sweet vindication. As much as I like some stuff after that, it's the most satisfying place to stop because the show immediately tries to dial back on the ship as soon as they're together and gives precious little of the kind of payoff you want to see while also dicking around on the other storylines. There are jokes I like and moments I like and whole episodes I like from 8.13-9.22, but this is the cleanest break because it cuts off before the finale set up really starts and has some growth and closure for everyone. (The only episode in S9 I like as an actual whole episode is Gary Blauman, and it's still not fantastic. Every other episode I have qualifications or I just like bits. Or nothing.) But if you just want to leave the entire show on a high note, still loving all the characters, having reached an uplifting emotional climax and not dealing with giant chunks of terrible storytelling/character assassination you need to ignore, to me the best series finale is The Leap. Which is the last episode of season 4.
