My top three favorite actors on MASH are: (In order of opening credits.)
McLean Stevenson- I think he is a big part of what makes the first three seasons so great. In fact, I’d say he was the true star of the show during that era. He was hilarious and stole just about every scene he was in. I think he had potential for more serious moments too and I wish we had gotten to see Henry ecolve. I love Harry Morgan as well and think Colonel Potter was a good replacement, but I’ll always wish we had gotten more seasons with Henry Blake.
Larry Linville- Larry probably had the toughest role on the show to play and he totally nailed it. Yes, Frank was awful but that was the whole point of the character and Larry played him so brilliantly despite being Frank’s total opposite in real life. In fact, the only thing he probably had in common with Frank was the Ferret Face nickname. Larry also knew when it was time to bow out, although I think it’s a shame there was no Frank/Charles overlap on the show. I think a Hawkeye/Trapper/Frank/Charles Swamp dynamic would have been interesting and very entertaining.
David Ogden Stiers- I love the Blake/Trapper seasons the best, but I think David was the best actor out of all of them. He was great at both the comedy and the drama and stole the show on a regular basis, in my opinion. The more I watch, the more I wish they had done with the Charles character and given him more of a central role. He’s a major reason why I even watch any episodes beyond the Gelbart/Reynolds era. I think he was the true star of the show its last six seasons.
Most underrated actor
Wayne Rogers- It’s a shame the producers and writers didn’t recognize and appreciate Wayne’s natural comedic talents. He was so funny and charismatic. He had so much potential as Trapper had he been given better material and a few more chances to shine. I wish he’d stayed with the show.

it’s here!! the rana look with the mclean stevenson and sandra brown cover! after the initial betrayal of receiving the 2003 edition instead of the 1986 edition in the mail! probably there really isn’t a story here, but I’m so curious about why this exists & how it happened… in the fated mates podcast interview with sandra brown, sarah maclean asks her, and she’s basically like, oh yeah, that. I don’t remember. 🤷🏻♀️ !!! !!
also. I must say. truly wild choice to select mclean stevenson in ‘86 as the cover model for this book. fully assumed that the rana look is about, like, a silver fox widowed ranch owner falling for a world-weary model looking to get away from the industry and city life. however. the hero is actually a buff built star quarterback in his early 30s with curly dark hair and an irresistible charm. I had to read sexy football star trent gamble as henry blake’s fantasy of himself as leading man lol.

I think I read somewhere about McLean Stevenson originally auditioned for Hawkeye on MASH and I have to be so honest I've been very compelled by that idea since I first heard about it. Like.... I'd be so interested in seeing that vision and the show that would have come out from that.
Of course he'd be SO different from Alan Alda's Hawkeye and Alan is the definitive Hawkeye to me, but at the same time I'm so curious what MASH would have looked like if he were playing the protagonist

For the anon who asked for a Treasure Planet descendant, here's Isobel! (Named her after RL Stevenson ‘s step-daughter) she’s the daughter of Jim and Katherine Blake, Jim’s love interest from the cancelled Treasure Planet sequel, a fellow cadet he would have met at the Interstellar Academy. I feel like Isobel is less a spacer then a scholar, picture a Jane Porter mixed with Evie O’Connell but for space, actually archaeological adventures in space sounds amazing, we could really flesh out the universe of Treasure Planet that way, maybe link back to ancient Earth and such and how humanity branched out into a wider galaxy/explore various alien civilizations and such. Plus like, ancient space mummy curses 👌🏻
Some concept art done for Kate and Jim, couldn’t find an artist referenced so please let me know if you know who did them!
