Hey everyone! Soooo have a confession to make. I am really freaking slow when it comes to writing about... Anything for the first when it comes to fanfics of a specific ATLA fic! Lol. Anyway, this is what I had been working on for the rest of the Sukka week prompts in other words this fic has every prompt except family portrait. And yeah I know Sukka week was a long time ago, but I subscribe to the reality that just like Zutara week is every week, so is Sukka week!

Yue II, cringing: Are you mad at me?

do you have any headcanons for the dunebabies (toph and aang's kids)?
Hello Anon!
Thank you so much for sending an ask - as you can tell I absolutely love talking about Taang and everything related to them. I especially love talking about the dunebabies and how they'd handle parenting!
Ok, as I previously stated in a past post, I really think Toph and Aang would have a very big family - about five to six kids. It comes in part because of Aang's burden of repopulating the Air Temples and keeping his culture alive. But I just genuinely believe that Toph and Aang are such a good team and couple that they take the challenge of raising a large family, test their communication, relationship and love.
They have 3 girls (one earthbender, two airbenders) and 3 boys (one earthbenders and two airbenders);
Their first-born son, at the ripe age of two, sneezes twelve feet into the air - scaring his mother as she momentarily lost "sight" of her boy; his father, on the other hand, cried with thrill with the notion he was no longer the last living proof of the Air Nomads;
Their first three children are all airbenders. Toph loves them more than she'll ever be able to put into words, but a part of her does fear that her earthbending genetics would not pass onto her children. Thankfully, their fourth child, a beautiful girl, at one, whilst throwing a temper tantrum, cracked their living room wall.
All their children are menaces - they either adopted their mother's humor and confidence, or inherited their father's mischievous and playful personality. They're kind and respectful children, but, just like their parents when they were young, they love having fun and goofing off;
Toph loves parenthood, adores being a mother. It's something she had once believed ill-suited her and she'd worried she lacked the nurturing, soft, gentle touch that came naturally to Katara and Suki. Despite everyone's concerns, Toph is an amazing mom. Laidback and carefree but strict when need be; she gives her children the freedom her own parents had denied her but always keeping a close, protective "eye" to guarantee their safety; she plays with the kids, tells them bedside stories of her adventures with Aang, suffocates them with tender love and care (love and care exclusively reserved for her family). Aang never once doubted her.
Aang would take all his kids to the Air Temples - earthbenders and airbenders alike - he took great pride in teaching them his culture, his values and morals, his history. He'd promised Toph he wouldn't force the Air Nomad lifestyle on his kin, unless they showed interest in pursuing it; additionally, Toph had made it clear that if he ever showed any sigh of favoritism for his airbending children, she'd terminate the Avatar Cycle with him - it was a threat he had taken seriously (though Aang would never neglect his two little earthbenders, he loved all their kids equally);
The kids adore teasing and pranking Toph because of her blindness - especially her airbending boys. They had found great joy in airbending their way out of her sight to escape punishment - so much so, that she had crafted little metal bracelets for all her children so she could keep tabs on their whereabouts (and so they wouldn't surprise her into an early grave);
The dunebabies love their uncles and aunts - and when accompanied by the steambabies and bladebabies... chaos and mayhem is certain. It doesn't help that the two youngest members of the Gaang enjoy causing their friends just as much stress as their children - many a times, Aang and Toph would join all the children in terrorizing the Fire Palace Staff or pissing their parents off;
Instead of having a permanent home - they have little homes in every nation due to Aang's Avatar duties. However, once the children grow old enough to go to school, cultivate friendships and need that stability - Aang and Toph agree that a forever home was long overdue. They eventually settle to reside within a calm town just on the outskirts of Republic City;
Toph eventually reforms the old Dai Li into Republic City's law enforcers. Balancing motherhood with her professional life was no easy feat, however, she and Aang had always worked in perfect harmony. So, when she needed to be present at work to teach metalbending, Aang would be at home caring for the kids; When Aang needed to leave for Peace Summits, Political Events and other Avatar duties, Toph would step in. They were always a team and because of that their kids never once had to be alone or without a parental figure.
Despite the odds, Aang and Toph raise their children beautifully and their a happy family, imperfect yet wonderful.

do you have any taang headcannons
Hi Anon, thank you for the ask, and your patience! I've been neglecting my asks, but not today! lol
I do have some Taang headcanons! Believe it or not, they were my OTP back in the day, and they still have a special place in my heart :) But enough chatting. Let's talk about headcanons!
I like to think of Toph and Aang as the people in the Gaang that get together last, but they somehow end up married first (that is, in a Zutara/Sukka/Taang universe lol). They deny their feelings for quite a while because they're best friends, but then they can't ignore it anymore and they start to date! And then a month or so later, they end up married (kind of a What Happens in Vegas vibe haha!) But Toph and Aang are rather chill about this, and they just move on as a married couple LOL.
They settle in Republic City, mostly because they like the area and because they are prominent figures in getting the city up on its feet.
I like to HC that they have four oops kiddos haha! All were happy accidents, and the dunebaby names are Lin, Gyatso, Suyin, and Kenji. The girls are earthbenders, and the boys are airbenders. The babies are pretty spread out, but I like to think that Lin and Su are still born in 120 AG and 126 AG respectively. Helps me keep track of the timelines haha!
The Beifongs have a very busy and hectic life, but Toph and Aang always find the time to be with their family and to travel around the world. As the kids get older, they take them on Avatar business trips more often than not. But when they were little, Toph and Aang typically left them with their grandparents. They liked having their work trips and family trips separate as much as possible in the beginning.
Aang and Toph aren't big on PDA, but I like to think Toph's love language is touch, so she'll often stand close to Aang so their arms touch, or she'll pat his hand or lean her head on his chest for a second. Aang definitely likes to prolong these moments lol.
Aang is an early riser, and Toph isn't. But she's a light sleeper, so even though Twinkletoes gets out of bed quietly, she knows that he's awake and she finds it hard to fall back asleep without Aang there. So she's usually up with him, albeit a lil grumpy lmao.
Aang and Toph are the fun uncle and aunt. They like to wreak a bit of havoc and convince the steambabies or bladebabies that breaking the rules is okay LOL. The other members of the Gaang get a bit of a headache whenever Auntie Toph and Uncle Twinkletoes visit, but they are grateful for a bit of parenting reprieve.
They don't argue with each other much. Well, they do, but it's typically about things that aren't that important. They did argue a bit early on with some of Aang's responsibilities and him splitting his time at home and out working, and it's typically a battle for Aang to have Toph open up to him, but over the years they've been able to figure out a pretty good way to communicate with one another and talk through these issues.
Aang loves to cook, and Toph loves to eat! But whenever she has a hankering for meat, they agree to go out to eat. Sometimes, Aang will cook the main dish and Toph orders a side of meat from some nearby restaurant lmao. That, or Sokka's in town and he cooks the meat while Aang cooks the veggies haha!
Okay! I think those are the main ones I have right now! If you have specific questions about Taang or the dunebabies, feel free to ask another question and I'm happy to elaborate :)
Thanks again for the ask, Anon, and I hope you have a great day!
......
Send me asks about ATLA, LOK, or anything, really! :D

What's the biggest disaster the dunebabies + steambabies + bladebabies did together? How did their parents react?
Ho ho ho. *rubs hands together*
When the kids were younger on a vacation together in the SWT, they thought it would be fun to play pirates!
...and they proceeded to steal one of the boats and go out to sea for their play time.
It takes a while for any of the parents to notice, and they assume they just got lost in some snow bank, but when Hakoda notices a boat is missing, they put together what happened pretty quickly. Katara and Aang are immediately out in the water looking for them— because holy shit they don’t know how to steer a boat and there’s glaciers and it’s freezing and they could be DROWNING—
So yeah everyone is flipping shit. Hakoda and Sokka and Zuko are in another boat, searching high and low for their babies. Suki and Toph stay on land to see if any kids were left behind and just lost somewhere (and Toph isn’t much help anywhere because she can’t see and she’s never been so scared in her life).
Eventually the kids are found, safe and sound. The few boating lessons that Sokka and Grandpa Hakoda gave them helped them to not crash anywhere, and they were all blissfully unaware that their parents were searching for them. They were just having a grand time playing pirates.
It was a total fiasco, with lots of yelling and stern talks and crying, and then the kids realized maybe this wasn’t the best idea they’ve ever had...
Well, that’s what the parents would tell you was the biggest, scariest disaster event that was the cause of their graying hair and a wrinkle or two. (But there were many, many others.)

I like to think that the steambabies might be a few years older than the dunebabies, and the steambabies take big cousinhood VERY seriously. They have lots of important questions for their Uncle Aang and Aunt Toph.
I can kind of imagine Zutara having two kids pretty close in age, and then a couple years later Taang have a kid, and then Zutara have a third kid, and then Taang have a second kid.
Ok so first off yes, and let's talk about why.
So as much as I love Zutara, I don't think they should have been canon at the end of book 3. I mean she was 14! And he was 16! They were all KIDS! I know exactly ONE couple that got together in middle school and have been together since and they are cute and wonderful and an ANOMOLY. LET THE KIDS GROW UP BEFORE YOU MARRY THEM OFF. Sukka should have been the only canon endgame couple and I will die on this hill.
So what does this mean in canon? Lots of pining. So. Much. Pining. *Points to every 150k+ slow burn fic on ao3*
It also mean the gaang gives Katara and Zuko endless shit when they finally do get together because it only took them FOREVER to figure out 1. they have feelings for the other and 2. the other person likes them back.
But as long as it takes Katara and Zuko to figure it out? It takes Aang and Toph EVEN LONGER.
Ok that's not quite true. Toph figures out her feelings for Aang once she's old enough pretty quickly, but he's her best friend and she is VERY in denial.
It takes Aang much longer and when he does he has a panic because holy shit it's HIS OTHER BEST FRIEND and that already didn't work out once.
So basically to sum up, Zutara has kids first because they have their first kid right around the time Taang finally get their shit together admit their feelings for each other.
Meanwhile Sukka just laughs at both couples for how long it took them to get together. However I do see bladebabies (is there another name for Sukka kids? Idk) happening around the time as steambabies (maybe less than a year between the first blade/steambaby) because Sokka and Suki take a hot minute to decide where they are settling down.
And yes, the older cousins are VERY protective of their baby cousins and take their jobs as The Oldest so seriously.

Omg! Thank you for the ask!🥺😁
Me and @a-hams-art share custody of these kids❤❤❤
Original ask meme:
👤 - What's the origin behind their name? [either within or outside of their lore]
Since Yue means moon. I absolutely LOVED Nanurjuk, since it means The Star.
✍️ - What do you like about them/what would you like about them, if they were a real person?
I like how Gyasto II is fun-loving and playful. She inherited it from Aang. She likes playing pranks on her friends and family.
With Lobsang, although, she is kind and bubbly. She can also be belligerent and direct like Toph.
She was taught to be a pacifist by Aang and the monks at the Southern Air Temple; but her Mom taught her that's it's okay to be combative. She's not afraid to use violence as a last resort.
👑 - What's their favorite childhood memory? if they didn't have a childhood, would they like to have one?
Iroh II's- He and his twin were 5 years old. Their Uncle Aang and Aunt Toph were visiting them at the Palace with Lo(7) and Gya(3).
Toph let the girls play in the rain in the garden while he watched on the steps.
When Kya II and the Beifong sisters went inside, he stayed outside with Katara to watch the rain.
He pretends the rain on his hands is him waterbending. Katara smiled softly. With her arm around his shoulders, she brought him closer to her.
Kya II's- Katara dedicates her time in meetings to help impoverished villages, donate clothes, blankets, and toys, repair houses, and give them food.
When she was 12 years old, they were visiting a village when a moo-sow broke loose from the farm.
The farmers and some villagers try to help catch the animals. They were genuinely surprised when Katara rolled up her sleeves and try to get the moo-sow.
Kya II and the rest of the villagers cheered her on as she tried to catch it. Kya II even laughed when she fell in the mud during the chase.
She eventually does and is able to calm the wiggly creature. She lifted the animal over her head with victorious grin.
The villagers laughed and cheered. Everyone is just surprised and amused because former Fire Ladies would never.
Azusa's- Her favorite butterflies are monarchs. When it was her 9th birthday, her parents surprised her by taking her to a butterfly garden.
When they arrived home for her birthday party, Zuko gifted her a glass display case of monarch butterflies to hang on her bedroom walls.
Lu Ten's- (He's 6) Katara's and Zuko's friend, Jiang, visited them. He was in absolute shock when his Mama and Jiang revealed that they were pirates.
They go to the beach for a treasure hunt with a map the women drew and he's immensely excited!
His parents siblings are part of his crew with Azusa as his first mate while he's Captain.
Him and Azusa dig up the treasure chest filled with jewelry and chocolate coins. After that, Zuko treats everyone to ice cream.

Do you know what other atla ships fankids are called? I know Zutara fankids are called steambabies and Taang fankids are called dunebabies. But I was wondering what Kataang or Sukka fankids are called
Kataang kids I believe are called cloudbabies
Sukka kids don’t have like an “official name” but I like calling them bladebabies 😂

How do you think Sukka, Zutara, and Taang would go about giving their kids ‘the talk?’ Do they preplan what to say or just wing it?
And as a bonus, how would each ship handle their older (early teenage?) kids, who already know what’s going on, walking in on them? (Lol I wrote a Sukka fic a few months ago where that happens so I thought it’d be fun to get someone else’s take on how that would go down.)
Okay Boomer (I saw an opportunity and I took it, and it was silly and I regret it I'm sorry lmao it won't happen again), thank you for the ask! Oh boy, the age-old armadillo birds and the beetle bees discussion. Good lord I need to stop I'm sorry it's Friday LOL. Let's talk!
Sukka: Sokka would probably go about the topic humorously to lighten up the awkwardness. Maybe put on his Wang Fire beard? He'd probably try and use metaphors, and then begin to ramble because he really doesn't want to be talking about his with his kids, especially his baby girl, and by the time he starts rambling on about the 100 year war, Suki puts a loving hand on his shoulder and says, "I'll take it from here, darling." LOL. But, I do think they would try and be sincere with their answers. Their son would probably go to Sokka for questions, and their daughter Suki. And if they were caught in the act? Well... Let's just say I feel like we'd see another TSR surprised looks from out esteemed couple lmao! They'd hope and pray no one saw anything but... it happens. Sometimes you just get caught with your pants down, ya know? I'd guess they'd try and play it cool, fail a little bit (a lot a bit), and they'd be walking on eggshells around the house for a while haha!
Zutara: Idk why, but I just picture mortified looks from everyone involved. The parents don't wanna be there, the kids don't wanna be there... I just see this as being the time where the whole family becomes awkward turtleducks and there's just no way around it. Zuko and Katara probably try to prepare for the conversation as much as possible, maybe even visual aids?? (the horror on the kids faces). But, like Sukka, there probably is a moment where all awkwardness aside, there's a breakthrough and they have a sincere conversation. And if anything, the girls would probably just go straight to Katara for a one-on-one conversation, and that makes things way easier. Sure, she can be awkward too, but it's their Mama, they trust her and respect her and they know they can go to her with these types of questions. With Iroh II? He just kind of goes about his life and Zuko avoids the conversation as long as possible... The kid is practically an adult by the time Zuko gets the courage to talk, and really, Iroh already knows things at this point LOL. And for the walking in... oh spirits above everyone wishes they could unsee what (or who lmao) went down. If either of the girls saw that, they would most certainly give their parents the silent treatment. No one could look each other in the eye either!
Taang: Aang tries to be all "it's a part of nature! It's beautiful" and Toph is like "enough metaphors, this is what you do and where you put it" LOL. They both seem rather impromptu with their ways, Aang probably would fumble his words more than Toph. And for the kids, I think they would mostly turn to Aang for questions and stuff. Toph would definitely give them blunt answers and won't shy away from the conversation, but it's easier to talk to Baba about this stuff... Toph probably is the first person to tell the kids where babies come from, though. Honestly, she probably told Lin when she was pregnant with Kenji and the girl was just... shooketh. Aang balked when he heard what Mama told Linny and gave Toph a stern lecture about oversharing... But out of the three, I think they're probably the chillest couple and not as embarrassed about talking about it than the others. It's probably not the smoothest conversation, but Toph always gives straight answers and Aang is really relatable, so in this situation, it's kind of useful. And as far as walking in on them... I think Toph would sometimes be able to tell when they're about to be walked in on LOL. But if she can't, I think there would be a lot of shouting between Toph and her kid telling him/her to get out lol. Aang would definitely be mortified and run after the child to console him/her and Toph would complain about her kid being a cockblock. The kids would whine and call them gross and the house would be a bit of a circus (well, more of one at least). Aang will probably be guilty and embarrassed, and Toph will say she's not, but Aang can see just a hint of blush creeping over her face...
Those are my thoughts on the matter, but would love to hear your takes! Thanks for the great question, and have a nice day!
Send me questions, asks, or headcanons about Taang, Zutara, or Sukka!
