#monthlyroundup Finished April with 14 books. Though to be honest several of those were novellas. I knocked out 3 books for my @booksinthefreezer Reading Challenge. I only have 1 book left for that one and I'll be finished with my 12 horror. Maybe I'll double up and try to do everything 2x. I also knocked 3 off my @bookriot read harder challenge and 1 of the #MRDRC22 . A few horror, quite a few #KindleUnlimited novellas and some audiobooks. Highlights of the month include Over The Top by @jvn Fast Pitch by @nicstone and Electric Idol by @katee_robert #AprilReads #horror #novellas #nonfiction #romance #thriller #middlegrade #BlackWomenAuthors #BooksInTheFreezerReadingChallenge2022 #BookRiotReadHarder2022 #nerdymama #nerdymamabooks #booknerd #DiverseBookstagrammersRead #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CdCOiP1rboP/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Behold Her
Behold Her In the sum of it all, there lies Beauty #InternationalWomensDay #WomensDay #WomensDaypoetry #blackwomen #blackwomenpoet #blackwomenauthors #poetrycommunity #femaleempowerment #womensupportingwomen #support #mentalhealth #relationships #poem
You don't look at me You used to Though it was never to see beauty Was beauty there? In your eye, I wonder Cracks and specks Errant things All disected and discerned, under your eye All the little things, The desperate things The shame-filled things Left to wonder How desperate I was To have your eyes upon me Undiscerning - a simple, admiring gaze Hopeful for the day That one fateful day…

👏🏿 This week's @time Magazine coverstory "Division and Destiny: How to Build A Truly Equal American Democracy" - written by Pulitzer prize-winning #author @isabelwilkerson - features #artwork by @lavettballardarts 🖤
#BlackHistoryMonth
Tumblr media
Reposted from @time TIME's new cover: @isabelwilkerson on how to build a truly equal American democracy.
How is it that politicians are banning books in a country whose founding First Amendment protects the right to free speech?
How is it that the United States, despite its wealth and technology, leads the world with more than one million deaths from COVID-19—more than any other nation on earth?
How is it that #insurrectionists could storm the citadel of American democracy in a crusade to overturn a presidential election?
Wilkerson dives into the question we're all wondering: "How did we get here?"
Read the cover story at the link in our bio. Artwork by Lavett Ballard (@lavettballardarts) for TIME
