I made this forever ago, forgot about it, and stumbled across it this morning. Bummer that I missed Henry's birthday by one day.

Kira Roessler of Black Flag performing live at Turner Hall in Madison, Wisconsin. July 27, 1985.
Photos taken by Murray Kapell.
"Kira was a girl — a woman — in a band of hypermasculine men, in a hypermasculine genre, in a time where it's some stupid, low intellect boys club. And she threw down SO hard. She was in, in my opinion, the fiercest version of Black Flag; Bill, Kira, Greg, and me. That was the most stripped-down, no body fat, angry animal on the Serengeti version. I mean, I couldn't even hang in it sometimes for, like, my knuckles getting broken on some moron's head, and Kira... never one day did she say "ow." She just hit so hard; she is awesome, like... wow. I've never been in a band with anyone that strong. And like, she's a mere slip of a girl, and she was in a raging band at its most raging, intense time. She so handled it."
