In the vineyard we selected the most suitable bunches, those with the most sparse berries, of the Bosco, above all, and Vermentino varieties, which will create our #Sciacchetrà. 🥂
To choose the harvest period we were very careful about the acidity of the grapes, which will balance their increasing sweetness during dehydration. 🍇
We then spread the clusters on the trellises, this year also hanging them from chains.
We let the wind and sun work on the grapes for almost two months. In addition to the dehydration process, endogenous enzymatic processes in the grapes themselves contributed to their complexity. 🌞 💨
On the first days of November, the grapes were taken off the trellises and de-stemmed by hand. 🖐
Aeration… air, worm holes, elimination of waste that is a benefit to the entire system. These piles of worm poo give me inspiration. They excite me to continue to create healthy soil. They encourage me to share with others the dimensional joy of observation. Nature is abundant and we are responsible to keep it that way.
Carbon is everywhere and it’s a good decision to utilize it at every convenience, especially if you grow food. Shown in the photos are waste products that didn’t make it to the trash. Instead they where used to make soil at “The Carbon Farm” which is part of the #Aglanta program supported by Groundwork Atlanta.
This energy exchange? That is maybe the point of Biodynamics. It's the ultimate witchcraft 😆
Yes it's about tending to the individual needs of each plant, and sure the lunar cycles matter for their care but it's easy to get caught up in 'rules'.
I think it's mainly seeing yourself as just a small, interconnected part of the biome equation, a role to fulfil, some intent to add in, where the outcome is less about yield and more about putting back in balance to what you take out. The abundance follows relative to the energy.
I believe it's also about leaving things better than they were before. Yourself included.
