I was talking to @agent-bash about all of this the other day and even though I know all the dynamics at play he made a really profound point.

I needed a reminder of how sad I was watching the last episode so I can will myself to just stop watching right now. And Bash said to me (and these are direct quotes because they’ve been swirling around in my head for days)

“they are going to milk this Jesse directing thing for all it’s worth and then some. They are going to bait with Upstead until that stone is bone dry”

And he’s absolutely right, as much as it pains me to realize. We aren’t stupid, but hope can and does blind us all. I think all of us in some way have felt this hold out, between the actual announcement, then the first 3 episodes, and everything that’s happened since. It’s exactly like the wound scabbing over and then starting to bleed all over again.

It sucks and I don’t have another way to describe it. Having a ship not work happens, and you learn to move on, but CPD hasn’t let us go easily at all. We are going to get used for everything that we are worth to them.

And I want to make a note that this is not me trying to diminish Jesse’s directing move at all. I want to champion that career move wholeheartedly. I really hope he’s happy doing what he’s doing because that man deserves nothing less. But I find it difficult to separate lately. Quite literally the old wounds keep getting pulled up as soon as I process all of my emotions.

I heard someone talk about the possibility of this all just being some cog in the wheel of the giant storyline plan and that Gwen has something planned that hasn’t materialized yet. And while I really struggle with that idea being even remotely possible knowing what we know, I guess nothing is impossible.

I wish I had all the answers. I wish more than anything else that I felt differently. What I really wish is that all of the reasons I love watching this show outweigh the reason I don’t want to anymore.

This is one of my thought bubbles that has no tied up bow that looks pretty. It’s just my thoughts. And I’ve shared my thoughts more in the last 6 months than I have in a very long time because this fandom is desperate for some good community amongst the chaos. And to know your not the only one thinking the same thing means more than anything else going on to me.
