Sometimes I remember Copper-9 could have had an entire ecosystem of alien plant and even animal life before the humans came and screwed everything up.
And I wanna cry :'D

my current favourite internet thing is people going to watch doctor who for the first time after watching good omens and getting to doomsday and thinking watching david tennant get his heart broken after falling in love with a blonde again is the worst thing to happen and emotionally devastating and i sit there like. buddy. pal. it only gets worse. one day you’ll watch that for comfort.

Scenario, where Humanity is just one of many species throughout the universe Q is at the time of TNG the Judge of. But humanity is the only one he actually helps and has a soft spot for. This could also be the reason the Continuum allows Q to help Humanity alond since this is the only species in a very long time he has shown favoritsm towards and the other species get a really bored, slightly insulting (Picard would have solved this sooner, I wish Jean-I was dealing with Jean-Luc rather than with you right now, etc.) and more.. neutral Judge who does not appear to really care one way or another.
One day, Picard actually gets to meet another 'Representative' and find out that Q can still be a bit how he used to be to those he does not care about.

absolutely no one :
me, stoned out of my gourd : so yeah, like the human race is a plague on the earth and i just happen to exist in a time right before the inevitable collapse of society as we know it, and we’ll probably all die out, as nature intended, because the earth was around long before us, it’ll be around long after us, and also we probably exist in some fucked up simulation….

im already doing PR work for fungi, hiveminds, and parasites with the endeme but what if i did PR for crop pest species too. im thinking about tyranids and zerglings and how they hold up a mirror to colonial settler fears. you are afraid of everything the eye can see being extracted by a foreign invader? of the very landscape around you becoming biologically, functionally, culturally, socially uniform? what if the terrible things i did to other people... happened 2 me....
the endeme keys into impaired ecosystems that are artificially kept in the first stages of succession, and that's the reason it is monstrous and scary 'successful' (like most weeds and pioneer species, it is not competitive and becomes second banana to whoever comes after it.) but i think it would be funny to meet it from the other end and play off of fungal and viral crop diseases. maybe there are some funny little guys who are, like, not a big deal until you put a monoculture in front of them. like normally there isn't a giant interstellar bug in the sky but you razed + converted an entire planet into its favorite food. what did you expect.

that neopets post kinda gives me flashbacks to the rescreatu name economy. each pet had to have a unique name (like how usernames work on most sites), so certain types of names became highly sought-after. most notably “real word” names. a pet named Wolf? one of the most valuable pets on the site.
between collectors and inactive and/or banned accounts, the name market became increasingly stagnant. eventually staff began to clear out banned accounts by moving their pets out of storage and onto their profiles, where they’d get hungry and die. as a result of being in the graveyard, the pets would become nameless. this was a popular move at the time because it meant anyone could get a highly valuable name if they were there and quick enough when the pets lost their names.
but in hindsight… well. a number of staff members were name collectors too. staff members who could ban people. yeah
