Dear Universe, help me to understand and feel who I am, and the lineage I carry of humanity. Help me to have peace over these things and know that I am included and loved dearly. How delighted were scientists (especially Marco’s assigned opponent) at Marco’s episode of Crossflare?
Are you implying that that's my self-indulgent daydream, as someone who has nearly cried trying to convince people about the scientific consensus on violent video games? That I only fantasize about fictional characters putting the smackdown on Crossfire because our media present issues as "two sided" through having a Ph.D. in developmental psych with decades of experience argue with an employee of EA Games on TV? That it's wildly unfair how so many issues (smoking causes cancer, racism on TV adds to racism in real life) are presented as "unresolved" because some very powerful companies put massive amounts of money into muddying the evidence? Because if so, you are 100% correct.

Wife Beating in Islam!
In the West, it is a common practice of the Governments, theologians, and media to pick some traditions, injunctions, or practices of Islam and start pounding upon them to malign Islam, the Quran, or the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It reaches its epitome when it becomes imprinted on the minds of ordinary people, who are either Islamophobes, anti-religionists, atheists, or simply ignorant, hence…

can you do HCs of mundane turn ons for the main companions ? PLEASE <3
These are fun
omg maybe my Wyll bias is showing his is way longer. He just eats like he eats everyyyy time.
Slight nsfw under the cut :3 maybe more than slight
Shadowheart: Watching your hands, especially if you've already slept together or started a relationship. She looovvess your hands, she loves to watch you fiddle with things, thumbing at the pages of a book, picking locks, or spinning a small blade between your hands. She could probably explain it in depth if she wanted to, but she was a lady of simple wants and desires and so she doesn't feel the need. She'll fantasize about your nimble, practiced hands all night if you've managed a particularly impressive slight of hand. She's already attracted to the rest of you, so imagining how skilled you are is the final nail in the coffin for her. She'd want to feel your hands in her hair, grazing down her back, tracing the divot of her spine. She wonders how quickly you could undress her, how quickly you could undo her with just your hands.
Astarion: He enjoys seeing you with Scratch and the owl bear, and Tara and all the other furry (or hairless feline) friends you make on your adventure. He isn't sure why. It makes him feel warm, and after decades of chasing burning hot desire a pleasant warmth is a thousand times more satisfying. Though he'll groan and complain at your acts of benevolence to other people, he can't help but feel a soft spot form for animals. He didn't think he'd enjoy seeing someone be so kind and warm. He does. There are moments where he's watching you befriend yet another stray, scratching behind it's ears or under it's chin where he almost longs to switch places. He'll be the first to admit he's lead such a terrible life, a truly loving and gentle touch has been far and few in between. Seeing you care for the four legged friends you've made makes him feel hopeful, he wonders if you would care for him like this. If you would extend such a gracious and gentle touch to him. He feels warm at the thought of it. Soft lips and a feather light touch tracing down his chest, over his stomach. Would you smile and coo praise at him the same way you did with the cub? Would you call him wonderful and brilliant too? Would you mean it?
Gale: Obviously we know he enjoys watching you in a fight, he's said so himself. So I'll do you one better, the inverse. Seeing you freshly cleaned, sparkling with the water of whatever river or lake you'd jumped into drives him just as mad, or maybe it's your wet hair. It doesn't come from the typical carnal sort of desire to make you dirty and sweaty again, no, that's not Gale's style. He just wants to see, all of it, every inch of your perfect, clean skin. He wants to feel your wet hair against his palms, or huddled into the crook of his neck while he touches you all over. The smell of your soap and the way your wet skin looks even more supple than when it's dry is so painfully inviting for him. Some may say that Gale just loves you, dirty, clean, dry, wet, and so on..maybe that is the case. Something about your still slightly damp, freshly cleaned skin is especially intoxicating. He really does just want to touch and kiss, not to sully or dirty just to love and enjoy. He doesn't even know that body worship is a kink that's just how he acts.
Lae'zel: Being an asshole Bickering. At first it actually pisses her off, your snide remarks, the way you brush her off or roll your eyes should make her angry at you, she should hit you, instead she just wants to pounce on you, she wants to wipe that smug look off your face...with her face...while you're both naked. It pisses her off, it makes her stumble over her words, forget herself. She can hardly look at you when she insults you. If you laugh at her, she'll be white knuckling through the end of your argument, then she'll go rub off in private. Unless you notice, and once you get to know her better it probably isn't too hard to see. Turn your rude bickering into coy teasing, egg her on and on until she simply can't help but give into herself ('what are you gonna do about it?' 'ok, make me.' 'I'd like to see you try' etc...) It'll be an angry sort of lay but not a bad one at all, and once you're bent at her will she'll ease up on you, once you've been together a while she may even apologize for being rough with you. No promises.
Wyll: He loooveees when you're sleepy. Propped up trying to read a book but you're eyelids are slipping closed every few seconds? Trying to wash up but having to scrub your face just to get through the routine? Sleepy giggles at Gale's decidedly unfunny joke? He can't help but just imagine you cuddling up to him, asking for sleepy kisses, trying to sneak cold hands into the hem of his shirt to rest on his warm belly. He can't help it, you're so intoxicatingly lovely when you're tired like this and though he feels terribly un-gentlemanly he can't deny the fire in his stomach when you yawn and say his name "Oh Wyll, " you snuffle with the yawn and look at him with tired eyes, "I might need to call it a night." He may have to bite back some strangled noise of arousal, especially if you're already trying to cuddle up with him. He can't help but let his mind wander to how you'd be so sleepy and coy with him had he the mind to take you some place private. It would be a bold faced lie if he said he didn't think about settling down with you, wrapping you up from behind, letting his hands roam freely, and in your tired state he doubts you'd be very hard to work up. You'd be too sleepy to resist all your desires, he thinks about the way you'd release all your inhibitions, he wonders where you would kiss him, you'd indulge him all your secrets biting and licking him in all the places you'd been secretly admiring. He wouldn't complain, he burned to know it all actually, in a sort of selfish way. What were you normally too shy to tell him? What drove you mad for him? He wouldn't mind your sleepy groping, he'd happily let you bite and moan and prod at him. You'd guide his hands to where you wanted them and lazily take what you desired and he would just be so happy to take care of you. You would have a sleepy sort of romp he'd set the pace, huddle you close, kiss you and praise you and it would all be lovely and drowsing and put you both to a great nights rest together.
Karlach: The back of your neck (especially if you have long hair that usually covers it). If she ever tells you and you laugh she'll tell you to fuck right off about it. She can't explain it, watching you pull your hair up, or guide it over your shoulder is entrancing enough but then there it is. The nape of your neck, the short hairs there, your skin looks soo smooth and perfect, she wants to kiss it, or maybe bite it, depending on how frustrated she's feeling. She'll think about pressing her thumbs into it and watch all the tension in your shoulders melt away. She's always favored coming up from behind, she's always pulling your hair over your shoulder, or offering to tie it up for you to 'get it out of your face!'. It's a self serving gesture at it's core. She'll think about kissing it, feeling it flush under her hands and lips. When you do finally get together she'll enjoy seeing the way the nape of your neck glistens with sweat while your together, she thinks it's a great place to have a hold of you for a multitude of reasons.
Halsin: He likes seeing you exert yourself, maybe it's some kind of primal instinct or something, or maybe he just likes to know how far he'll be able to push you later that night. Either way, he can't help it, he thinks it may get better as you grow closer but it only grows worse. Blood and grime caked to your skin don't deter him at all, and if we were drunk enough he'd admit the smell of your sweat, and the salty taste of it on your skin when he kissed or licked or bit you drove him mad. He struggles to be subtle when he watches you after a fight or during a long up hill hike. The rise and fall of your chest makes something in him tighten, the glisten of sweat on your skin, seeing your hair stick to your forehead, the flush of your cheeks and the way your lips part to take in deeper breaths....it all drives him a bit mad. He'll quell his desire to ambush you and drag you off to a secluded forest alcove with a myriad of debauched daydreams, all of them making his stomach stir. First he'll wonder if he could get you into a similarly winded state, if he could make sweat roll down your back, if you would melt for him like you melted at the unrelenting heat of the sun. How would his name sound as a desperate gasp for air? How hot would your cheeks feel under his fingertips when he takes you by the chin and squeezes your face in his hand? The way your lips open to take in deep and thankful breaths only makes him want to completely ravish your mouth. He thinks about what it would take for him to exhaust you so much the weight of own head would be too heavy and he'd have to keep you up with a fistful of your hair.

currently thinking about 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 and his endless vanity.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 who is revered as the lotus-eyed, twice-born born and golden-sighted. all who look at him are mesmerized, and none are those who can afford to resist his endless charm. the very epitome of beauty in masculine vessels, he defines the perfect balance of yin and yang—being as ethereal as they come, and twice as wise.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 who puts up the pretense that he never quite feels the need to be worshipped so, being as modest as possible. yet internally, it is through lotus offerings, garlands of roses and lamps and lanterns blue and white that he truly measures his importance in the eyes of the man. the easiest god to please or upset, the lothd eyed god has few vices he does not know to erase. hence is the reason he is revered by all, the kind hearted god.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 who takes great pride in the lonesome shrine dedicated to the 'god of all ancient wisdom', and enjoys flittering around in the forests and lakes that surround his shrine from all sides. quiet whispers often go ignored by him, benevolent in godhood as he already is. there's a saying—if you ever spot a purple-haired being with lotuses in his hands and gold on his neck, then be sure to quieten your steps and softly whisper his name. though he won't respond, his gaze will certainly fall upon you. while he doesn't entirely agree with this, he still arguably enjoys the attention this saying gathers him.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦— and his infatuation when his gaze lands upon you, standing amidst the maidens with gold offerings in your hand as you stared at him through plenilune eyes, your gaze holding wondrous awe. he can't speak, can't avert his gaze, nor can you and both are quite understandable in their place. after all, for a god, occasions of 'love' are few and far between, and even more so with mortals.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 who always keeps an eye on all his followers. especially, you, of plenilune gaze and ethereal essence. he loves being pampered in general, always sitting patiently whenever he enters the shrine and the maidens sit him on golden stands and bathe him in flowers.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 and the way his gaze pins upon you as you move through the forest, navigating around to reach the lake of lotuses. who knows very well that this is the first time you have left to get lotuses on your own, a cruel order of the head priestess who was upset about his disregard for the prayers of the others. and while he is willing to be more benevolent next time, he ensures to cut down excess bushes and lead you right to the lake, almost confusing as to how easy it was to reach the lake.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 who can't help but turn red yet watch helplessly as you slightly lift your waist cloth, revealing the soft skin of your waist, pulling the dagger out and walk slowly into the waters, cutting freshly bloomed lotuses from the water. but his gaze remains pinned to your form regardless, unable to watch anything or anyone except you.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 develops a tiny bias towards your prayers then on, always listening a bit keener to them. who can't help but create a situation such that all priestesses leave to attend to the royal family and their transgressions and you're left to look after the shrine. and then he comes in all graces, dressed in gold pieces and pearls white, ethereal looking when your gazes meet.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 who laughs slightly when you immediately bow and call him by all his hundred names, amused by your devotion. who desires to speak softly with you, leaving you spellbound with his quiet melody in speech. he is a bit biased you see— it's rare, after all, to see the god being vain but anything other than himself.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 and his expectation of finding you at the lake of lotuses every day, getting disappointed should you ever switch duties with anyone. he doesn't give up though. he has his ways, and you can't really escape him if he shows up at the shrine, himself after all. he just ensures to bite back the smile that forms on his features when you place the lotuses on his feet and light his sandalwood incense.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 being infatuated with your delightfully mortal charm and the fleeting sense of forbiddenness that you bring. gods and mortals do not mix well—he knows and he also knows that you know too, but it's hard for both to resist when either looks so supple and lovely.
𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘥! 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 and his love for you, his favourite devotee.

D-Day movie was amazing tonight. I'm in awe of Mr Min. His charisma, command of the stage, benevolence, talent, skill, and passion are a force to be reckoned with. Watching that footage reiterated to me why he's my bias.
I was incredibly fortunate to see that performance 3 times, including day 2 of The Final in Seoul, and so of course i saw Jimin performing with him.
I took a huge risk, jumping on a plane to Seoul at short notice and hoping that the stars would align and Jimin would be performing with him at the concert i was going to. What joy when the first bars of Tony Montana played!!
My brain definitely disengaged though, so my memories are almost as fuzzy as my footage. I have a special talent for recording abominable video at concerts.
Nevermind, here it is anyway...

Snow Elf culture?
*pulls up a chair*
Perhaps...
A wee disclaimer that I'm not particularly good or creative with developing cultures or societies, but my brain has just latched on to the snow elves in a way where I can't stop myself. But anyway
Tumblr media
I developed a lot of this because of a big ass draft for a fic I've been writing on and off about Gelebor and Vyrthur, so a lot of my headcanons are religion heavy. I'll start there:
Gelebor seems to place Auri-El and the Chantry of Auri-El as having significant importance to the Snow Elves over the other gods/temples. He's probably got a bit of bias in that regard since he's devoted his life to Auri-El, but in order to differentiate their religion from the other elven ones I like to think that their religion in general worshipped Auri-El as not even just as the figure head of their pantheon, but almost monotheistical, while the other gods (Trinimac, Syrabane, Jephre and Phynaster according to Gelebor) were like minor divine figures or just legendary heroes even more than in Altmer myth, depending on the interpretation. My idea is that if their culture had been allowed to continue on, it would've eventually become monotheistic, but by the arrival of the Nords they were in a bit of an awkward transition period with it.
I also like to lean into the sun motif with Auri-El that they established in Dawnguard and with Auriel's Bow, partially because it's another thing to make their depiction of him more unique, and in part because it makes some very juicy irony for Vyrthur. Some ideas include:
- The more religious folk tend to pray at noon when the sun is at it's highest. - The two biggest snow elf festivals happen on the summer and winter solstices. As far north as they are, the summer solstice is during a time of year where the sun barely sets and the winter one is during a time of year where it barely rises. The summer one is more jovial and celebratory, with a grand feast. With almost 24 hours of daylight, the festivities last up to three days straight, with folks commonly staying awake for over 24 hours. Most of it is spent outside, with the celebration being focused on making the most of the weather and daylight hours to spend as much time in the sun and the light of Auri-El as possible. The winter festival is as large scale but lasts longer and is lower-key. It also involves a feast but features more winter foods and meat and alcohol. It is more pensive. At this point in the year, there is no full daylight, and so this season is seen as a test of one’s faith and mental fortitude. This festival acts as a break from this trying time, taking time to relax, build community (a strong community will allow them to make it through the winter and strengthen their minds), and bond with family and friends. It is about a weeklong break, where leading up to the festival everyone works harder to prepare for it and allow themselves to have the break. There are activities and festivities, but they remain indoors for the most part and are smaller. - I've referenced this before, but with long winters with little sunlight (due to harsh weather and short days), they see that time of year as a reflective test of will and faith.
Due to their proximity to dragons, it was hard to miss the connection between Auri-El (/Akatosh) and dragons, and so their depiction of Auri-El is either much more influenced by the iconography of dragons, or is a dragon (although their depiction of dragon Auri-El is much more benevolent than the Nord/Atmoran one). I got the idea for this one from this Reddit post (i know I dog on Reddit a lot but this one has got some fun stuff in it, even if it's a bit out there)
^On that note, later in the timeline (post Dragon War (the timeline is very fuzzy on when this and the Night of Tear happens. They are both sometime vaguely in the late Merethic Era I believe, but it's unclear which happens first or how long each conflict is)) some Snow Elves see a sort of unreturned, unofficial comradery with dragons, seeing themselves as both on the receiving end of the Nord's/Atmoran's brutality (disregarding whether it was warranted or not in the context of the Dragon War).
Ok here's some more general cultural ones:
I mentioned my reasoning for this in this post, but I like to think their general settlements were not as permanent, with a larger focus on wood and building into the sides of hills (good for warmth), while their temples tended to be made of stone and much more permanent. This is why there are so few identifiable Snow Elf ruins across Skyrim. Their cities and towns were easy to wipe out, scavenged for resources, or were in good places for Nordic cities (perhaps Bromjunaar was originally the site of a Snow Elf city?), and their temples were either very hidden (e.g. the Chantry of Auri-El) or eventually converted to Nordic temples.
I love this journal in general for gleaning ideas for Snow Elf headcanons for, but one interesting this is the use of "Old Ones" and "Young One". They're treated like established titles. From that I like to think they place a lot of emphasis on the respect of those older than you. The social hierarchy and whose opinions are most valued is heavily influenced by age. Folks call anyone older or more revered “Old Ones” as a term of respect, and anyone younger than them “Young Ones”. Old One is almost never used in a demeaning way, but Young One can be (not always). Typically, “Old Ones” is used in the third person (e.g. you wouldn’t refer to someone directly as “old one”) whole “Young One(s)” can be used as an epithet for someone directly or in third person.
When thinking about death/"burial" customs (needed for some scenes in the fic I'm planning), you have to consider that there probably wasn't a lot of land in a place like Skyrim where someone can be buried. Nords intern their dead in crypts or burn them to get around this, and I like to think Snow Elves participated in something akin to sky burials (at least sometimes). After preparation, the departed's body is left outside on a ledge, cliff, or the temple balcony to be scavenged by birds. This is seen as a metaphorical return to Aetherius, while their soul literally returns to it. They do this even in poor weather or deep winter. If it doesn’t thaw and rot/be scavenged until months later, so be it. The length it takes to rot is considered indicative of how long it takes for the spirit to let go and move on (not in a bad way though. It’s interpreted more in the way of the soul or body grieving). It's seen as if they may wish to wait until spring to finally rot if they want to experience one more warm, sunny day.
Food (I mostly wrote this in my notes in the context of the Forgotten Vale and Chantry of Auri-El, but I think it could work elsewhere as well to an extent): Plant-based food is grown in gardens in the spring and summer, and that that is able to be stored is carefully preserved through the fall and winter. Winter foods include some nuts, dried vegetables, and dried and preserved/fermented grains (like wheat, barely). These foods must be eaten slowly throughout the winter to last, and winter diets are more meat based. Summer foods include apples, cabbage/lettuce, leeks, tomatoes etc. Snowberries can be found in the wild out of season of most other fruits, and provide fruit in very early spring. Occasionally, fungus from caves is harvested, but this is seen as a delicacy (foreshadowing).
Ok, that's it for now. I gotta go to bed. Thanks for the ask!!!! :D

What state are you currently in?
Hey besties, I'm trying to shift the focus of my readings to stop (intentionally or unintentionally) encouraging the idea that the cards control your fate, tarot and oracle cards mirror your inner atttitudes and how those attitudes are reflecting in your daily life. The reflect what state you're in and this is that is todays readings topic. This reading will be helpful for people to become aware of what state they may be perisiting in unintentionally. Choose an image from above and go to your pile <3 don't force messages to resonate if they don't. My cashapp to tip is sarahx2x
Also, if you have ideas for pick a cards related to law of assumption send it to my asks!!
Tip and ask a question in my asks for a personal reading !! Put username in message
♤♡Pile one
(7 of swords and 6 of pentacles)
You may be in a state of avoidance, dependence, and a scarcity mindset, you're running away from your current reality instead of living in the state you want, and conversely you're in the mindset of someone who feels like they need to deserve or "earn" their desires. You may feel that theres not enough to go around and placing limits on your manifestions. Some of you are on some level dependent on the benevolence of an external source to fulfill you. This isn't true, there is nothing you have to earn or avoid to achieve what you want. You may be avoiding thoughts or things in your reality that make you afraid that you'll manifest the opposite, this is living in a state of fear, that is giving power to external forces to control you. You are not dependent on an outside force to give you what you want, the power of divinty and limitless is already in you. you don't need to earn it or work hard for it. Understand the limitless and vastness of creation, become aware of your own limitlessness
♡■Pile two
(Queen of swords, the sun)
You are in a very positive state, a state of joy and freedom. You place you're awareness on the things that bring you geninune emotions of joy and the that make you feel infinte. The sun tarot card is traditionally associated with deity and deity worship, so one could say you are in a divine/God like state. In modern times, the sun tarot card is associated with consciousness (as its counterpart is the moon, and it focuses on unconsciousness) you are very intentional and aware of where you consciousness flows, and I see that you have flushed out old states of mind that are outdated. The queen of swords is aware of ignorance and bias, she rises above old ideas. you are in a state of recognizing when your thoughts are reflecting old states of mind and you are capable of rising above them.
♡○Pile three
(The heirophant reversed, the magican reversed, the page of swords)
This is a very intresting pile, for many of the people who felt drawn to this pile they have lost their faith in manifestion, theyve lost faith in the divine that dwells within them, they feel out of control with their reality and they're in a state of doubt. They may also be in a state of limitation and frustration. The page of swords is the investigator card of tarot, they are skeptical and alert. So this futher affirms to me that this pile is in a state of doubt, skepticism and powerlessness. The magican is a card of bending reality to your will, it's associated with channeling the divine and ones own will to manifest whatever one wants into materlizing from nothing, the magician card is associated with mecury which is the planet that represents thoughts, speaking words and communication. So I feel that people who chose this pile haven't been committed to aligning their thoughts and words to the desire they have. The heirophant reversed indicates falling out of routines and being noncommittal. In the tradtional meaning if the card, people may have lost their faith in manifestion because it condradicts their spirituality or religious pratice, they theyre too stubborn with their old beliefs. I also feel that people who chose this pile were learning from sources, coaches, teachers etc that were wrong or too harsh, but that won't be for everyone.

I think there is a lot of bias in this analysis, what is your opinion?
Yes, there's definitely a lot of bias here; op is so clearly a pissy TG stan. This analysis is rife with observation bias and just plain misinformation. I do sympathize with some of their points though. Op is doing something I've seen a lot of TG stans do: projecting the issues in HOTD onto Rhaenyra.
HOTD is a pretty bad adaptation, full of inconsistent characters and just plain fucking up the characterizations of the people. The Velaryons definitely suffer more than most other characters from this. They made Rhaenys rather antagonistic to Rhaenyra, turned Laena into basically nothing, made Laenor a deadbeat dad, and Corlys is just kinda there.
However, op's complaints about the Velaryons' representation show their bias very obviously. They don't complain about Rhaenys' characterization until she's supporting Rhaenyra. They don't talk about the issues Laenor's running away brings in, just about how it makes the Velaryons' support of the Blacks confusing. They complain about Corlys not being hated for offering Laena to Viserys, but don't acknowledge how the show purposely aged Laena down to younger than Rhaenyra to make Corlys look worse. The most damning however, is how they complain about how Corlys didn't care about Vaemond's death.
Vaemond is killed both in the book and the show, both times because he was slandering Rhaenyra and calling her sons bastards. Daemon kills him both times (with Rhaenyra's approval in the book, which was a slay tbh). Corlys doesn't care in either occurrence because Vaemond was attempting to usurp Corlys' line and his chosen successors. Op choosing to ignore the actual truth of the situation shows they just hate Rhaenyra and are bitter HOTD didn't go all the way with making the Velaryons disloyal to her.
Moving on to their complaints about Rhaenyra's portrayal, another thing I agree with to an extent. HOTD made Rhaenyra into a much more passive character than she actually was. They made her virtually inactive politically, removed her approval of Vaemond's execution, and made it so she was unwilling to go to war until Luke's murder. They showed their benevolent misogyny. However, op isn't angry about the sexism of this portrayal or how they nerfed an interesting and fun character, rather about how she does fewer morally ambiguous and questionable things. They're upset that HOTD made it harder to say Rhaenyra is an evil bitch without revealing the misogyny of TG.
Op also complains about how HOTD doesn't condemn Daemon enough while actually portraying how awful Aegon, Criston, and Vaemond are. This shows how op isn't actually using media literacy. Condal and Hess constantly condemn Daemon and went out of their way to make him worse than he is in the book. Daemon didn't murder Rhea or abuse Rhaenyra in the book, those are things they added to make him look worse. Meanwhile they actively defend Aegon raping women and go out of their way to make him more "sympathetic".
Op also sympathizes with Criston, because apparently him being held accountable for his own decisions is wrong. He chose to sleep with Rhaenyra, he chose to murder Joffrey, he chose to dedicate the rest of his life to ruining hers. Criston isn't a good person, he isn't a victim, he made all his choices and can't accept the consequences of them.
Op also reveals how they are very anti Valyrian by throwing in a spiel about how Daemon is a neo-nazi and the Valyrians are fundamentally evil for utilizing slavery. Yes, slavery is abominable, however, criticizing Daemon and Rhaenyra for wanting to hold onto their cultural traditions that have nothing to do with slavery or human exploitation isn't wrong. If every person was expected to abandon their culture just because the culture has morally wrong practices, no person could ever hold onto their culture. This applies to the other cultures of AWOIAF, including TG's precious Andals who tried to literally murder any religion other than the Faith. Daemon valuing his culture is the least condemnable thing he's ever done.
Op also complains about how Otto is portrayed as being an awful person. I have to say, a TG stan wanting to defend Otto is new to me, but not very surprising. Of course Otto is portrayed as bad and the head of the greens, they took away all of Alicent's agency and had to give it to someone. Otto is a raging misogynist and only cares about power, that's all there is to him, but apparently he's more sympathetic than Rhaenyra for some reason.
In conclusion anon, yes, this is an extremely biased "analysis". Op hates Rhaenyra and is upset that Condal and Hess didn't go out of their way to make her the primary antagonist of the show. Apparently it isn't enough that they outright defend a rapist and made the Velaryons completely nonsensical. TG stans are ridiculous and are driven purely by hatred of Rhaenyra and/or House Targaryen, op is no exception.

Places and people are only as good as my appreciation of them.
I decide, right now, that every place and every person is good enough.
That I am good enough.
That I attract all that is benevolent to what I am.
Everything and everyone I meet contributes to my life, even if it does not apparently seem so at first sight.
As I look for and see all that makes my life better, more comes in to be grateful for.

Eye of the Universe as a Reflection of the Inhabitants, Nomai, and Hearthians (Theory)
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR OUTER WILDS AND ITS DLC ECHOES OF THE EYE UP AHEAD. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Also it’s a long read. Be warned.
I just had this thought after finishing the game + the DLC for the… third time now? Apologies for any mistakes going forward, but I wanted to put this into words.
For ease’s sake, I’m going to refer to the Inhabitants as Owlks going forward.
The Eye
We know this thing is quantum, ancient, and possibly sentient? Debatable last point, but I’m going to use that argument going forward. In that regard, we also know that the Eye (and pieces of it) reflect what’s around it.
We see this in the Quantum Moon, where it will reflect whatever planet it is orbiting at that time (it will also reflect the Eye itself despite it being more of an astral body than specifically a planet, but you get it). We also see this at the end of the game, where the Eye reflects aspects of Hatchy’s mind/consciousness (visions of the museum, Timber Hearth, the travelers, and other familiar faces and events such as the countless supernovas they’d seen, the anglerfish, the signalscope, etc etc).
That is the argument that I’m using in favor of the Eye’s sentience … or rather, it’s reflection of sentience. The eye reflects what is around it, and when something around it is sentient, it could reflect sentience back. So, like all things quantum about our ancient Eye, it’s sentience is only accounted for at a quantum level, only existing when there is a beholder with existence to reflect.
If you’re following me, it’s important to know what the eye isn’t doing: showing what the beholder wants to see. By mirroring sentience in the beholder, it might be easy to assume that the Eye can reflect what the beholder desires, but this would be wrong for the coming argument. By assuming that the Eye shows the beholder’s desires, it means that both the Owlks and the Nomai were duped in their decision to follow its signal; the Owlks destroyed their home in order to pursue the Eye, only for the Eye to show them that it brought death, and their decision to follow it was futile; similarly, the Nomai sought out the Eye, only for their entire clan to be wiped out by inhabiting its closest solar system, making their efforts, too, futile.
This would then mean that the Eye is malicious — by reflecting the beholder’s desire, it lures them in only to bring death and failure, when we know this isn’t the case. The Eye cannot be malevolent, but it also cannot be benevolent, because both would disregard it’s job as a mirror, a reflector. If it were either malevolent or benevolent, it would not be able to uphold its duty as a reflector, because a reflector with bias is a faulty tool. The Eye can only show what it has already been shown, even if this makes it seem biased, but seeming is not reality.
You may already see where I’m going with this, but my theory is that the Eye reflected the Owlks’, Nomai’s, and Hearthians’ societies as a whole, and in large, their fates. Here’s how:
The Owlks
The Eye casting out a signal was a neutral action. Whether it was simply its nature to emit a signal, or it had a desire to be seen, neither choice has any bias in it at its core. It is simply a neutral action. It did not warn the perceivers of danger, nor did it promise them salvation. The only thing the signal of the Eye did was evoke curiosity. We’ll see this in the Nomai as well, but first the Owlks.
The Owlks perceived the signal of the Eye and thought it to be fascinating — likely they were aware of the same facts as the Nomai were, that the Eye was timeless, ancient (possibly ageless or infinite), and mysterious. For curiosity’s sake alone, their people decided to create the Stranger, a giant space vessel that would take them to the Eye (with a constant signal, finding the Eye was likely an easier task to do than what the Nomai had to face). Unfortunately, in building the Stranger, the Owlks killed their planet and most (if not all) life on it besides themselves. With nothing else to turn back to, the hole was that the Eye would promise a new life, or at least anything but the death that they’d left in their wake.
Upon approaching the Eye, though, the mirror does what a mirror does best: reflects. Upon a closer viewing of the Eye, the Owlks saw destruction and death, because that is what the Eye saw in the Owlks. The Eye never necessarily promised death, nor did it hold some grand power, but that is how the Owlks interpreted it (likely because they did not recognize the Eye as a reflector). Horrified and angry, having destroyed their planet in perceived futility only to be met with more death, they covered the Eye’s signal and resided in its nearest solar system, having nowhere else to go, and missing home.
The Eye reflected the Owlks as destructive.
The Nomai
As previously mentioned, the Eye sending its signal was a neutral act. The Nomai perceived it and, fearing to never see it again, warped immediately without properly sending word to the other clans where they were going. The Nomai Vessel is then, of course, completely trapped within Dark Bramble (which we KNOW is malicious in nature, I’ll get to it). They enter the solar system scattered, and live the next few generations alone and lost. Try as they may to find the Eye through their string of amazing inventions and genius ideas, even risking the health and life of the solar system in the most moralistic ways possible (however moralistic blowing up the sun can be, at least), if only to discover where and what the Eye is, they are unable to. The signal is covered, and their inventions are useless in the face of limited energy.
Though the Eye could not physically offer the Nomai a signal if it wanted to, the reflection still stands. By not being able to communicate with the Nomai, the Eye reflects the loneliness, confusion, and desperation in the Nomai’s wanderlust. Unanswered questions, only faced with an unforeseeable (and likely inevitable) death by the ghost matter of the Interloper. The Nomai never got answers.
The Eye reflected the Nomai as lost.
The Hearthians
Finally, our optimistic blue bunch. The Hearthians as a group never encounter the Eye directly — they do not hear its signal, and the only interaction they have with it are practically ghost stories told through the history of the Nomai’s writings, which are largely only revealed to our dear Hatchy while they’re stuck in the time loop. And yet, even with the limited direct connection to the Heathians and the Eye, the Eye still reflects their fate in the coming end of the universe.
No matter how Hatchy plays their cards, no matter who they speak to, no matter what they discover, no matter how far they go, no matter what … the universe ends. This, ultimately, is of no fault of the Hearthians, nor is it of any fault of the Eye. But there’s that lingering thought about the Eye’s quantum nature … Follow me here.
Even though the Eye has a physical location upon being perceived, if it is ever unperceived, it will go unaffected by physical reality. Theoretically, each time the sun explodes without Hatchy perceiving it, the Eye is unaffected, and therefore, is unaffected by the universe ending — it is not destroyed, it is not harmed, if only because it does not exist. Until it is perceived again in the next 14.3 billion years, it will continue to not exist, but it will have lasted through the death of the universe, and countless universes before the last. Theoretically, if Hatchy were to get to the Eye (like we see at the end of the game) and cease perceiving it as the universe ends, and not perceive it until the next universe… Hatchy could live on.
This point can be expanded on a few different ways. Hatchy wouldn’t necessarily have to live for 14.3 billion years since they would become intertwined with the Eye’s quantum state — we see this in the Quantum Trial at the Ember Twin, where all one has to do is close themself off visually to the quantum piece and be physically connected to it in order to obtain a quantum state. This means that Hatchy would only exist with the Eye when it is being perceived, meaning so long as Hatchy does not perceive the Eye while on it (by simply closing their eyes, for example), they can live on the Eye until the next universe, where they could then thrive in their new home. They could also figure out a way to bring other Hearthians with them, possibly saving the species by un-existing just as the universe ends, and coming back into existence as another begins and something/someone else perceives them.
But this could never happen.
The Eye has seen the Hearthians and their solar system for so long. Within that solar system is Dark Bramble, the hungry planet. Born out of a carnivorous state, Dark Bramble only began as a seed which planted itself on the original, nameless planet that once orbited the sun. The seed grew, consuming the planet from the inside out, feasting on it to grow and grow until it exploded violently and destroyed the original planet, leaving nothing but remnants in its wake. Dark Bramble exists only to eat and feed, and it can only do this through vampiristic means, by feeding on the life forces of other planetary bodies. It does not stop after it has succeeded, either, always seeking out new victims, and never satisfied. We see this on Timber Hearth itself: a seed from Dark Bramble plants itself firmly into Timber Hearth, growing exponentially within the short timeframe that it had planted itself, unable to be cut, unable to be stopped.
The Eye sees this. The Eye realizes that Timber Hearth is doomed from the start. The Hearthians are doomed, no matter if the sun explodes or not, no matter if the universe lives or dies.
It is for that reason that the Eye cannot reflect anything other than death for Hatchy. No trick or plan can save them. The end comes for them at all corners. All Hatchy can do is find peace in that fact (which is what the game teaches us to do!).
The Eye reflected the Hearthians as death-bound. Not in any decision they made, and without fairness to their simple, honest lives. Simply, the Hearthians are the last. That is how it is. That is how it will always be. There is no fault to be found in them for that, but the Eye reflects anyway.
Final Thoughts
The Eye reflected the Owlks as destructive. The Eye reflected the Nomai as lost. The Eye reflected the Hearthians as death-bound.
And yet, in all of these examples, we see hope. Living counters to the concepts. Peace in the reality.
The Prisoner may have understood the Eye reflected his people’s recklessness, or he may not have. Either way, he knew that he could not let his people’s fears dictate the opportunities of others. He did not know that the Nomai or the Hearthians would exist, but by closing off the Eye’s signal, he understood that his people were negating something natural, and possibly something that was not as malicious as they thought. And so, he rebelled, breaking the shield and letting the signal free one last time. For it, he was eternally imprisoned by his people. He found comfort in his cage. He connected with a new guest. He made homages. He found peace in death. He likely regretted nothing.
Solanum grew up fearing the Eye’s intentions, pondering its possibilities, and ultimately concluding that it was not malicious or biased in any way. It simply existed, just as the Nomai did, with its own purpose. Once determined to find the Eye, Solanum grew to realize that finding it was not her biggest concern. Leave it to the others in her clan, but she had her own mission. She did not dismiss the Eye, either, but set on the path of others before her, embarking on the Quantum Trials to connect with her clan’s ancestors, to feel the presence of the Eye, and to be as close to it as she could. On the Quantum Moon, she is unaffected by time, unaware of the death of her clan, and unknowing of the impending doom of the universe, but the larger picture is unimportant to her in that moment. She is content in being so close to the Eye, knowing she may never arrive to it, but finding happiness in the collection of other Nomai who embarked on this journey before her, and even connecting to Hatchy, who embarked on the same journey she did.
Hatchy is a combination of both ideas, I’d say. Upon discovering the universe will die, and that there is no stopping it, they likely went through the same thoughts as we did while playing. How do I stop this? By ending the Ash Twin Project. The universe will end forever if I do. The time loops will still exist if no act is committed. Is that truly living? Repetition will never be a fulfilling form of living. What’s the point? And what is the point indeed?
The point is to live. To be given the opportunity to decide for yourself what you could do. To connect with what you have, not with what you can’t control. And when the end comes, to hope that you are content with what you’ve done. That is the point. The larger picture cannot be created without the small moments. The small moments mean nothing without the larger picture to collect them. You must have both. Both must reflect the other.
And so, the Eye does what the Eye does best. It reflects. It reflects the larger picture, and it reflects the smaller stories, and it reflects those that it interacts with, and it continues on to reflect those that it will encounter. All the perceivers must do is look in the mirror.

watching ransom for a dead man and a bit :( about the "working for a woman" comment! any thoughts? would love your insight - not sure whether it's him being legitimately Sexist or it's part of him trying to buddy up to the attorney guy for info and failing
luckily, columbo is too intelligent for that brand of sexism.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
best trial attorney eh? hell i'd kill my dumb boring husband too. oop sorry sir did i say that out loud
he's not quite trying to "buddy up" to her secretary per se, nor does he actually feel this way. here, he's trying to gauge the man's reaction/opinion of her in order to both find out more about her as a person and supplement his working theory that she orchestrated the murder. columbo does that often--he asks questions in roundabout ways that disarm people, make him appear dumb/impotent (important!), and are usually more conducive to getting answers than asking point blank, answers that are sometimes as subtle as shifts in facial expression.
here, he actually doesn't fail the info check--his hypothesis is reaffirmed. a full-fledged male lawyer in an era of burgeoning second-wave feminism not only doesn't mind working for a woman, he's happy to and extolls her skill! columbo is right to assume that this man is an outlier for his time and ask him his opinion by opening with a negative assumption. would he have gotten the same enthusiasm if he'd asked more directly? likely not.
columbo is also aware of how foolish the question sounds considering the woman behind it. Lady Lawyer Leslie breaks stereotype after stereotype, establishing herself immediately as a highly independent woman of her time: she's childless, a pilot with her own airplane, and in 1971, three years before women could open credit lines without a man's cosignature in the US, considered one of the top trial attorneys in the state of california. she's cold, calculating, daring, and most importantly smart as hell. columbo totally drops the act to tell her that, which is saying something.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
when you spend so long investigating a sexy lady murderer who's just as genius as you are that you close the case in total awe of her
so his little remark does not reflect his actual beliefs.
there are times when columbo will push the bounds of chivalry and step into more benevolent sexism, treating women especially gently with extra care and attention, sometimes even acting more susceptible to their wiles than he actually is. he admits his own bias:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
must be nice to prety ladie...
but he has no reservations nor presumptions about any woman's ability based on gender. morals aside, he'd be a pretty shitty detective if he did. imagine how much worse at his job he'd be if he were closed-minded!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hheh...maybe prety ladie is innocent after all...

Ah, so Mothwing said nothing at the meeting because she realized it wouldn't have helped in that moment. She does believe Frostpaw.
Ehh... still not a fan of how NO ONE spoke up at all. That's ridiculous. I can see Mothwing doing this because she is in a very uniquely bad position here in regards to Clan cat prejudice;
Atheist without connection to StarClan; immediately doubted
Tigerblooded; Might seem biased towards tigerHeartstar
All her picks for leadership backfired; credibility damaged
Mentor of Frostpaw; can be dismissed as personal bias
SOMEONE should have spoken up, but it does check out if Mothwing specifically didn't when she did believe her, with all that in mind... though I will not let this book live down the Sleeptalk Scheming bit.
Instead Mothwing is trying to sew doubt in the Clan and undermine Splashtail.
But... this line is bugging me A LOT;
Tumblr media
"I haven't been StarClan's biggest supporter, BUT RiverClan NEEDS a leader who was approved by them"
Mothwing of all people should understand how easy it is to fake a sign. Not being able to tell WHEN a cat is StarClan Approved is not only the reason Hawkfrost was able to blackmail her, but also WHY THE SPLASHTAIL PLOT IS CURRENTLY HAPPENING.
Even real, bona fide StarClan Approved Leaders can be awful. She is the daughter of Tigerstar, she knows this. I know the WRITERS know this, since they namedropped Nightstar earlier in this book. StarClan Approval is not a seal of quality in any way.
What "not the biggest fan" is so cutely downplaying is that Mothwing does not have belief in their wisdom or benevolence. This is character-defining. This is her WHOLE motivation.
Her novella leaves her on the conclusion that StarClan is no different than mortal cats, and that she only sees its value in the comfort it gives to her Clanmates. This is a terrible line to give her as a character, it focuses on the wrong things.
Better sentiments for her to express are,
"If he gets the blessings of a leader, we'll have to deal with a murderer for nine lifetimes."
"I resent having to leverage it, but the useful fact he's not going to the Moonpool is suspicious in the eyes of our Clanmates"
"What does he think he'll see if he goes to the Moonpool? Why would he be turning down 8 more lives?"

As someone who hates Destiel and the shippers with a passion. It annoys me to admit it felt like Castiel and Dean got alot of moments in S15. Nearly up there with Sam and Dean moment. Also Sam and Castiel didn't even get a goodbye scene. Did they even have a big scene together?
While I do think the original intent of season 15 was to make it Dean and Cas focused because Jared was supposed to leave SPN after season 14, I also think you had a yellow-car confirmation bias.  Attention is naturally very selective.  You might not find a yellow car (because yellow cars are not common), but you might look out for cars in the hopes of spotting a yellow one.  That ~confession scene was given way too much credit and attention by superfans in an otherwise decent episode. But Cas's speech wasn’t for you and the superfans, it was for general audience and casual fans to remind them that Dean is still a hero because they only seen Sam acting heroically trying to protect people from the Snap.  Dean going after Billie looked more like revenge and it was at the cost of Cas’s life.  So this lesson to Dean is that it isn’t all about him.  That’s right, a speech that seems to be all about Dean is actually saying it’s not all about him.
Cas to Dean: Everything you have ever done, the good and the bad, you have done for love. You raised your little brother for love. You fought for this whole world for love. That is who you are”.
Audience:  Well, duh.  Also, thanks for the reminder but why?
*Dean dies two episodes later*
Audiene: Oh that’s why.
So from my perspective, season 15 did not have much Cas and Dean moments other than Cas having a hissy huff in purgatory and Dean's awkward anxiety attack three minutes later, and the meme-making scene that is now tumblr's breaking news template because how indifferent Dean was. I'm sure those two did have more scenes together than the ones I mentioned but they're unmemorable and so apparently unimportant to the plot.
In contrast I remember what Sam and Dean were doing in season 15: the free will vs determinism question and how to escape determinism. Sam represented the former and Dean represented the latter.  Dean believes in determinism so his idea of getting free will (killing Chuck by using Jack as a bomb) was wrong. During their push and pull, Dean has to seek and give forgiveness before he ascends to heaven because (in my interpretation of Christianity), one has to learn to forgive in order to enter heaven because the Savior has died for your sins and forgiven your sins.
Lucifer returns because the devils' purpose on the show is to show God how undeserving humans are by leading them astray. Sam is constantly proving the devil wrong about humanity and lead people in the right direction, in season 15 it's stopping and talking down Dean from his kill-Chuck plan and finding another way to save the world. Sam's fatherly relationship with Jack ascends him into a benevolent God of free will, and from there Sam (and Dean) could write their own stories and complete his Hero Journey arc.

Rambling corner but I'm fangirling instead of trying to be smart lol
Tumblr media
See this bean?
I love this bean so much.
Easily my number one fav in the Rodamrix series. Fortegreen/Shapeshifter is the only one that comes close... but then again, it's for completely different reasons.
This is a biased as fuck post, not even gonna lie. This post is literally just me stating over and over that I love Red in as many different ways as I can. Also recapping the plot.
First of, I'm just a huge sucker for the whole "benevolent impostor" thing in Among Us fanfics, that one Impostor that doesn't wanna kill crewmates, so my biases inmediately kicked in.
Second of, Red is one of my favourite colors, so there's even more bias there.
Tumblr media
Thirdly, he beat up Purple with a mop. S++ tier moment right there.
Then the rest of the plot starts happening and oh boy... yeah, Red has it rough to say the least.
When the crew arrives at Polus, Impostor ghosts/hallucinations/nightmares, whatever they are... they don't let Red sleep. Like, at all. They just keep chanting "kill crewmates red, do it ya bitch" over and over and over.
And you know, since Crewmates and Impostors are kinda enemies, he can't tell his friends (Blue and White) or any of the other Crewmates in Polus what he's going through, so he just has to suck it up. Yeeeaah, you don't need me to tell you that sort of thing would fuck up a person. Or bean, in this case, whatever.
Tumblr media
Then he has to team up with THIS guy. With the Shapeshifter, of all people.
Red, the guy who doesn't wanna kill anyone, having Olive, the guy who wants to see the world burn AND the biggest menace to society in the series thus far, as the only person who knows his secrets.
...
Yeah, you pretty much know that this won't end well the second you see them shake hands. And surprise to nobody, that did not end well. RIP to Yellow.
So now Red has to deal with the guilt of being responsible for Yellow's death AND the fact that he can't do anything to Olive because now the bastard is trusted by all the Polus people. Yaaaaay, sad times are real.
Thankfully, the mini Yellow didn't see Red as a bad person. And thanks to the baby, White and Blue now know about Red being an Impostor. With a really, really emotional and wholesome scene. Probably the first time something good happened to Red in the whole series, to be honest.
Tumblr media
Things are looking up for my boy, hurray!
Then the last episode of Season 1 happens, Shapeshifter pretty much makes everyone in Polus go die with the tentacle things he didn't use in the OG for whatever reason, yada yada yada, and off to Mira we go! ... I think.
We'll just have to wait until Season 2, see what happens there. TBH, I kinda wanna see Red and The Red scientist that worked with Dr. White to have at least ONE interaction. Maybe they're related or whatever, idk. That's just my theory for the moment.
Yeah, in conclusion, I love the Red amogus bean in the Rodamrix youtube series. This wasn't really much of an deep dive analisis, as it was mostly just me typing down what we already know at this point.
Hopefully the next rambling post will be more coherent, but who knows.
