Self Insert Birthday Countdown Day 3!

Ft. Makoto Miyakawa from Big Hero 6

Big Hero 6 was a MAJOR special interest when I first watched the movie in theaters. By the time the summer after rolled around, I was OBSESSED. Then the interest died down after 2016. But then later down the line in 2021, I was in a bad place mentally. Very bad. So I went over at my bestie’s house. One of the reasons I was invited over that night because my bestie wanted to rewatch Big Hero 6 with me, and I was super down! And let me tell you that movie night was so fun! I was giggling like an idiot at the jokes my bestie was cracking and we overall had a great time revisiting this film that we both honestly think deserves a follow up, a proper one. But what made it better was the fact that now I shared another interest that I held close to my heart with my friend who I held close to my heart! We BINGED the TV series afterwards and would talk discuss it afterwards, what was dope about it and what we thought would’ve made it better.

I created Makoto around this time as well! I for a while struggled with what her suit would look like and what abilities it would possess but then I stuck with something she was interested in like the other members, which one of them ice skating. I love that her bh6 outfit and her normal outfit have such contrasting color schemes. Also I haven’t drawn Makoto in her suit for a while so I thought this would be a good opportunity to do so now and I’m pretty happy with the results, especially with the ice mist coming from her gloves. I love drawing magical auras!

"But you didn't lie but imp-lie it," Aruto grinned. "Hai, Aruto jaaaa~ nai to!" He pointed his right index finger at Tadashi, with Izu mimicking his actions.

Tadashi simply rolled his eyes at the pun before chuckling a few seconds after.

"Finally! Someone laughed!" Aruto cheered.

"Well, I'm not laughing at your joke but rather at your finishing touches," Tadashi admitted as he stuck out his tongue. "I can literally hear the crickets chirp in the middle of autumn."

"A laugh is a laugh." Aruto ignored Tadashi's words with a wide grin.

Haven't drawn these three in over a year and well since I've developed a new art style for my Big Hero 6 related work, it was about high time they got a chance to come back for a bit. Just so people don't get confused, Kairo is still a valid ship. I can ship it along with my new ship, Megiro. I just have separate universes for both of them.  So, everyone wins and there are no love triangles or love rivalries. I don't like that stuff and I never will. That out of the way, just happy to be drawing these three again and in the new style I have for them. I might do more pictures later with them interacting with their cousins and parents but for now just needed to see if I could adapt them into the new style and well, it worked. That be all for now. Makoto and ice skating was a no brainer because ice skating is one of her major hobbies along with tech engineering and plant biology. Her suit also reflects this aspect, she has skates like Go-Go, only her’s are ice skates and can be used to freeze the ground or water below to skate across. (Think Fro-zone from The Incredibles) And she also has specialized gloves that shoot ice from her hands. I wanna draw her suit again I love how I designed it sm!

i just realized i’ve never properly introduced y’all to makoto omg

This is Makoto! They’re a villain, as you can probably tell from their design. This particular design is what they’d look like at the current place in the timeline and they basically see themself as another Obake successor along the same line as Trina.

They’re an SFIT dropout and would have joined Obake’s team around the time the third or fourth episode takes place. They see Obake as a sort of father figure and went bonkers fucking yonkers after he died (which didn’t help considering their psyche was already torn to shreds).
