Oh boy oh boy, here we go.
I waited until this week to do a Ghost Files spreadsheet update because I wanted to do it the same week that I record the older videos. (I have two spreadsheets, one that I only record once a month and one that I do every week) I wanted to see overall what a difference GF has made to Watcher’s shows and views. But first!
All of these videos blow the previous “fastest to one million” Watcher records out of the water. Every Ghost Files episode has hit it in 29 hours or less.
Trending continues to baffle me. As you can see, St. Ignatius did not trend, but had the best opening weekend of them all. I will not and do not understand trending.
The Debriefs are doing about on par that the PostMortems did, with these actually doing better than the most recent PMs did in 2021. They are also quite meatier episode lengths.
You can’t really compare GF to anything else on Watcher’s slate because it’s so doing so far and above everything else. So I’ve been comparing it to the final few seasons of BFU. It’s right on track with those videos, which is pretty amazing considering GF is under a completely different name and channel. I know those of us Watcher fans who have been here since the beginning find the fact that so many people didn’t know it existed baffling, but the algorithm is bizarre and cruel, so I think it’s a huge accomplishment for Ryan and the crew to be right on track with its predecessor.
Also, it is very sweet to me that right now, the top 3 Watcher videos are all from a different Watcher founder. Waverly Hills at #1, Simu’s Dish Granted at #2, and Puppet History’s Dancing Plague at #3. Aw.
One of things I’ve been most excited about with tracking these numbers is how other Watcher series are doing now that Ghost Files is out and so big. This will probably get long, so under a cut.
A lot of Watcher series are up right now, but only the Ryan and Shane shows. Unfortunately, none of Steven or other creators’ shows have gotten a boost from GF. The two exceptions to this are two recent DG episodes. The Uncle Roger episode continues to perform very well (at 908k and counting, twice as much as any other episode from this season) and bless his heart, Zach Kornfeld’s episode got a mini-boost after all the Try Guys drama broke. None of the other Watcher videos featuring Keith or Zach had notable boosts, though. (thank god they never had Ned on, am I right?)
The newest season of TMS has gained an average of 69k (nice) views since GF premiered. Compared to a 4 week run in August, they gained a total of 26k views. The other seasons also got some mild boosts, except the most recent holiday one for whatever reason.
Newest season of AYS averaged new ~14k views over a 4 week period before GF. Now it has averaged ~49k views. Older seasons also got a bit of a boost, although interestingly again, not the second most recent one as much. Maybe people started the playlists at the beginning after watching most recent seasons and didn’t get to the second most recent ones yet?
Most recent season of Puppet History is up to 50k new views per episode since GF, compared to ~28k in the same time period. Older Puppet Histories are also doing very well across the board. Will be interested to see how much this continues with the new season on deck next.
And finally, our dearly beloved Weird and/or Wonderful World. It is not up across the board, but a few episodes have gotten boosts in the past month. Solvang is up 24k, Roller Derby was up 21k, Pop Pals 52k, and Pie Shop 29k. Not sure why only these got boosted, but I will take it. Watcher, please, give this show another chance.
Oh also Tourist Trapped is up 50k.
As of today, October 17, 2022, Watcher has 209,373,478 views across 221 videos. This averages out to 947,391 views per video. This is up from 887k per video that I recorded a month ago. Jesus fucking Christ.
I also subtracted every video that’s premiered since 9/19 to see how the average changes without Ghost Files numbers (or that one off AYS). The average for the 213 videos that premiered before GF is 913k, which is still up quite a bit.
Watcher has gained ~200k new subscribers (at 2.26m) to the channel during this time as well. Their patreon has also gone completely bananas in terms of members. They’re at 6300(!!!!) right now, which again, completely bananas. I know a lot of these folks will probably dip after GF ends for the season, but all of this support only means good things for Watcher. They’ve got more wiggle room now to travel again and try new things and give new creators more shots. After everything we’ve watched this channel go through over the past two and a half years, I could not be prouder.
As always, thanks y’all for reading! I very much appreciate all the love and nice comments and tags I see on these posts. Glad we are all numbers nerds that are overinvested in Watcher.

I watch some of Watcher's stuff, tell me whatever you want about Shane Madej!
HOUGHHHH. OHHRHFHTHABK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOY
i think a lot of people who are aware of Shane sort of just think of him as the skeptic guy on bfu/ghost files (not saying that’s u obv just a lot of ppl bc I guess I need this to be a pitch meeting) and I think that is a shame because HOLY SHIT HES SO TALENTED AND COOL AND WEIRD AND THE SHIT HE MAKES IS SO FUCKIKNG INSANELY GOOD
Ok so going back in time for a second to b*zzfeed. Who btw did not deserve this guy. Afaik he had two major like, creative projects on there. Ruining History and The Hot Daga. Both were very good. ruining history was a fun history show he did with Sara and Ryan and there are rotating guests every episode. Shane is very interested in history, very good at teaching history, and i think in an alternate universe hes a beloved high school history teacher. Ruining History is the father of puppet history. B*zzfeed canned it and i miss it every day. and then there’s the other father of Puppet History, Hot Daga. Hot Daga is insane. I love Hot Daga, its not for everyone, but I think its so good. The lore goes crazy, he produced and made original songs for it, he animated the whole final half season by himself which is fuckinf insane. He made a ballad for it and actually i need everyone reading this to Listen to “believe me maizey” and then directly after listen to the Meteor Ballad from Puppet History. OH LOOK A SEGWAY
Puppet history is so fuckinf good. Its So Good. And especially in later seasons since hes doing so much you really start to see his improvement as an artist and its just. Its incredible. Some of the somgs are genuinely fucking masterpieces, like some of my favs are The Flower Boat Song, Asmodeus, The Horse and God song, the Emu song, Big Pile Of Diamonds, Infinitiger, The Window Song, Gay Oars Duet, Hologram Professor Song, and the Meteor’s Ballad. And more. Uhh OH the Olympic Torch is really good too. His lyrics are so smart and fun and his vocals are so impressive and he has such good range, he duetted Himself for the Oar song and managed to make the two voices identifiable as separate characters without being over the top. The lyrics range from poetic anf beautiful to weird and funny often within the Same song! Its just so good and he starts so good and gradually over the years he’s done the show you can see him getting more comfortable and better at music which is crazy causw again HE STARTED OFF GOOD! HE WAS INSANE IN HOT DAGA AND HE IS SOMEHOW EVEN BETTER IN PUPPET HISTORY LIKE! and and and ok here’s where I get crazy and a little parasocial (lol not really i am misusing that word for the bit LOL)
Something about all his work is that you can kind of see how his art depicts the world. In Hot Daga you get the line “what else can you do in the face of such monumental loss, but breath a weary sigh as the world is a little quieter now.” And in Puppet history you get uh actually you get like 20 things from the meteor song but one of my favorite parts is (read blue as the professor, orange as the meteor, pink as both) “some shit’s just etched into the stars, calamities you cant outrun/and when sweet earth we finally meet/the sky will burn and boil the sea/as mountains rend/its you and me.” i think both these lyrics and these somgs demonstrate a maturity about the world that you dont really see in a lot of people, his general kindness towards anything and everything and his ability to change perspectives on things without being forceful. (On a personal note I listened to The Meteor song after someone I knew passed, and as dumb as it maybe sounds the idea that like,, death is not cruel, you can’t always run and sometimes the best thing you can do is be there with the people you love as the world ends.) and also I think that you really can tell that he views the people he’s telling you about as People and not just like, figures. Ykwim. He shows such genuine respect and care for everyone in these stories and I’ve already like briefly in these stories but like, you KNOW if a guy can make me cry for the Meteor that killed the dinosaurs then he’s something special. i also think the way he portrays death in his work is very comforting as a whole. and another thing speakinf of rhat is that he has so much respect for other cultures in a level I think that goes beyond just bare minimum not being a piece of shit. Like especially when he’s teaching history, an example that always sticks out to me is how much effort he put into making sure people remembered and thought about Hatshepsut by having a whole episode on her history then also making an EXTREMELY (probably intentionally so though i cant be sure bc I can’t reas minds) catchy song that Told you to think of Hatshepsut and explained Why uou should think of Hatshepsut and it’s been stuck in my head ever since I first heard it years ago. Also I’m consistently impressed by his good pronunciation of things, I remember in the Tunguska event episode of mystery files there were so many ppl from tbe area he was talking about shocked by how good his pronunciation was. And ive seen that so many times w him like, idk i just think thats very cool. He’s a genuinely really mature and respectful guy I think. Wise too. So much of his work has educated me, changed my worldview for the better, inspired me. Like He’s so talented ik i keep saying that but HE IS!
Like ok so. He can write both songs and stories beautifully. he’s wise as fuck and could probably be a philosopher. He can make puppets (and just tbc later season puppet history the puppets are not him, but in the early seasons afaik they were all him, so he is definitely skilled at that.), he can sing, he can voice act, his graphics and editing are off the charts, he’s educated and smart, hes funny. He’s so fuckinf cool.
also again getting parasocial here but I just really like how much of a zest for life the guy seems to have. And Honestly im impressed that he worked in retail, had actual trash thrown in his face by an angry customer (true story) and still came out it like “man the world sure is wonderful!”. What a guy. And He’s so fucking weird and interesting and I could seriously just listen to him rant about Literally anything Forever. Anything. It doesnt matter I think he could talk about anything in a way that would make me invested in it and i’d come out of it more educated than before with a fresh new perspective on life.
This is getting Essay-like so here are some other Random Shane Things I know to close me out I guess
-he loves community was in the community fandom and has a crush on troy barnes
-he wants to be a mouse
-he’s lived 7000 years
-
-was DB cooper
-makes a fine ass Krampus
-actually the coolest guy alive
sorry this is almost 100% incomprehensible thank you for letting my autism loose tho

Update Ghost Files Live was a quality show, and also I was definitely the oldest person there who came alone. They played the season finale of the current season- which was easily the best episode of the post-BFU run- and then Ryan, Shane, and producer Lizzie chatted about it and had a Q&A, and also did an Estes session live on stage which turned out to be fucking hilarious
Before the unpleasantness, I used to go to a whole lot of live shows and con panels, and I got kind of inured to the whole thing? I kind of stopped being amazed or amped up by "hey look it's the people from the thing", and it was fascinating to have that again
But it was very funny, and Ryan and Shane clearly really love each other and the crew and the show a lot, so it was very sweet. Also someone complimented my Oxbox Hallowstream IV shirt and a different person complimented the back patch on my battle vest, so what more could you need

Worse Than Ghosts [Prologue] (Steve Harrington x Reader BFU AU)
READ THE NEXT PART HERE.
Summary: Y/N is a producer on YouTube's most popular ghost-hunting show. When she and the Spirit Search team travel to Hawkins, Indiana to film their second season premiere at the Creel House, they discover that some things are worse than ghosts.
Word Count: ~1.5k
Warnings: Language, canon-typical Vecna shenanigans, Steve being a flirt (but when is he not).
A/N: This is the beginning of what will probably be a three-or-four-part series! It's a Modern AU inspired by Buzzfeed Unsolved. The older teen characters are in their twenties in this, and none of them are from Hawkins (except for Nancy and Eddie, who will be in later parts). The Creel Massacre also happened in the 80s instead of the 50s, just for the timeline to make sense.
Let's get into it!
Tumblr media
👻 👻 👻
Y/N Y/L/N did not believe in ghosts.
However, she was the producer and editor of Spirit Search, YouTube’s top ghost-hunting show for three years running. Life has a funny way of surprising us.
Currently, she and the Spirit Search team were crammed in a motel room in Hawkins, Indiana, preparing for their newest hunt.
“Let’s go over tomorrow's itinerary,” Y/N said, flipping open her iPad case.
“Can’t we just relax for two minutes?” Robin Buckley complained, flopping backwards on the motel bed. Robin was the creator and a co-host of the show, and their resident believer. “I’m so stiff from that plane ride.”
“This won’t take long,” Y/N said. “We’re going to leave the hotel at 9:30 a.m. sharp—”
“What?!” Argyle, their sound guy, said. “Dude, that’s only 12 hours from now!”
“Which will be plenty of time to rest up,” Y/N said.
“Nah,” Argyle said. “I need a crisp and cool 13 hours of sleep to be functional.”
“‘Crisp and cool’?” Jonathan Byers asked. Jonathan was the camera operator. He also worked on lights.
“Crisp and cool,” Argyle repeated.
“Anyway,” Y/N said. “We leave the hotel at 9:30 a.m. (Not a minute later, Argyle!) Then, we head to the Creel House for our initial walk-through and safety checks. Jonathan will choose where to leave the infrared cameras. Maybe we’ll do a practice run with some opening episode jokes—”
“No need,” Steve Harrington said. Steve was the other co-host and a skeptic on all things supernatural. “My jokes always land on the first try.”
“If that was true,” Y/N quipped, “I wouldn’t spend hours editing out all the times you say, ‘Can I take that again?’”
Robin, Jonathan, and Argyle snickered. Steve rolled his eyes, but there was no heat behind it.
“At 11:30,” Y/N said, “we’re heading to the Hawkins Public Library to meet with Nancy Wheeler. She’s a journalism grad student at Emerson and is home for the summer. Her Bachelor’s Capstone Project was on the media’s coverage of the Creel murders, and how it drastically shifted the course of the case against Victor Creel.”
“That’s interesting,” Robin said.
“It really is,” Y/N said. “After the interview with Nancy, we’re going to The Hideout. It’s a bar and grill. We’ll grab lunch and meet Wayne Munson. He was childhood friends with Alice and Henry Creel and went to their house many times before the Creel massacre. That should take until 2 p.m. Then, we can explore downtown until 5, when we head back to the Creel House to start shooting. It’s going to be a late night, but totally worth it. This will be a really powerful season opener.”
With that, she shut her iPad case with a satisfied snap!
“Any questions?” she added.
Argyle raised his hand.
“Questions not related to tomorrow morning’s departure time.”
Argyle dropped his hand.
“Great! Guys, here are your room keys.” Y/N handed them out. “Jonathan and Steve, you’re across the hall. Argyle, you’re near the stairs. See you tomorrow.”
Once the boys were gone (and once Robin finally stopped fiddling with her staticky spirit box), Y/N tried to sleep, but found it impossible. Her mind was plagued with nightmares—bad ones, the kind that have you waking up gasping for air. Nightmares about the scariest moment of her life, something she hadn’t thought about in a long, long time.
Anxious and jittery, Y/N stumbled out of bed and into the hall, on the hunt for a sugary distraction.
She’d traveled all around the country with the Spirit Search team and knew one thing to be true: candy from a motel vending machine just tastes better. It’s inexplicable.
Y/N gazed at the snack machine, surveying the options reverently. The soft hum of the ice machine next to it provided a comforting white noise. She already felt more at ease than she had when she woke up from that nightmare.
“Somehow, I knew I’d find you out here.”
She turned and grinned at Steve, who had come up next to her.
“You know me so well,” she said. “Can’t sleep either, huh?”
Steve shook his head.
“I’m having these insane nightmares,” he said. “You?”
“Same. Figured I’d get a snack.”
“Cool. Cool.”
“I know all we’ve seen so far is this motel,” Y/N said, “but what do you think about Hawkins so far?”
“Do you want a sound bite for the episode,” Steve said, “or my honest opinion?”
“Honesty. Always.”
Steve leaned against the ice machine, arms crossed. Y/N tried not to get distracted by how good he looked in the low light of the vending machine.
“This town is a shithole,” he complained.
“Every town we visit is a shithole,” Y/N pointed out. “The interesting cities bulldoze over haunted locations to build luxury hotels and restaurants.”
“There’s nothing to do here,” Steve said.
“Welcome to small-town life,” Y/N said, choosing Peanut M&Ms as her treat of choice. The coil of the vending machine swirled hypnotically and pushed the yellow packet over the edge. “In places like this, you have to learn to make your own fun.”
Steve raised an eyebrow, eyes glinting mischievously.
“Make our own fun?” he said, a flirtatious lilt to his voice. “What did you have in mind, exactly?”
Y/N ignored the thud, thud, thud of her heart pounding away in her chest. She reminded herself that Steve Harrington was a class-A manwhore who treated flirting like an Olympic sport. It didn’t mean anything more. He didn’t see her, not like that. Not like more than a colleague. More than the show’s producer. Work friends, at best.
“There’s an arcade in town,” Y/N said. “And a cute old movie theater. Like, so-old-it-only-has-one-screen old.”
“A movie could be fun,” Steve said. He scratched his cheek, eyes flicked upward as he visualized their itinerary in his mind. “We should have time after our initial walk-through and interviews to catch one before we start filming. What do you say?”
“Sure,” Y/N said. “I’ll check with Jon and the others, see if they’d be interested.”
Steve deflated slightly. He cleared his throat.
“Right, Jonathan,” he said. “And the others. They should come too.”
Y/N didn’t notice the shift in his demeanor. She held out the M&M bag and shook it once.
“Want some?”
“I’m good,” Steve said. “See you tomorrow, Y/N.”
He turned on his heel and shuffled down the hall, ducking into his room. Y/N headed to the room she shared with Robin, wondering what horrors waited for them tomorrow in the elusive Creel House.
👻 👻 👻
The next morning, the Spirit Search team packed their rental van with their filming supplies. The garish yellow van was once used for pizza delivery. The vinyl letters boasting “Delivered Hot N Fresh to your door!” had been removed long ago, but the van was so sun-faded, the message was still visible in the white space.
“If Argyle’s not down here in 2 minutes,” Y/N said, checking her watch, “I’m firing him.”
“You can’t fire him,” Steve said. “He’s the only one with steady enough arms to keep the boom mic out of a shot.”
“And he’s our friend!” Jonathan said, narrowing his eyes at Steve.
“Yeah, sure. But the boom mic thing is most important.”
Y/N sighed and loaded the last of their goods—Argyle’s beloved sound equipment—into the van. She felt something warm on her face and touched her lip, surprised to see her fingers coated in red.
“Whoa, your nose!” Robin said, almost dropping her spirit box in shock. “You okay?”
“Yeah, fine,” Y/N said. “Must be the change in altitude, or something. That causes nosebleeds, I think.”
“Indiana is mostly flatlands though,” Jonathan said, handing her a tissue.
“But we’re still at a higher altitude than when we’re in SoCal!” Y/N said. “Maybe. Don’t fact-check that.”
Argyle stumbled over to the group, still half-asleep.
“Good morning brochachos,” he mumbled.
“Great of you to join us,” Y/N said. “Let’s head out.”
Hawkins was quaint. It was the kind of town with a small hub of activity downtown, and a rundown shopping mall on the outskirts of the city limits, but otherwise, there wasn’t much besides farmland and forest.
As Jonathan drove them through Hawkins, Steve and Robin pointed their GoPros out the van windows to capture some slice-of-life-type footage. That footage always worked well for Robin’s voiceovers about how “such and such town was completely normal and quiet, until the unthinkable happened!”
Y/N sat in the backseat squished between the co-hosts. She skimmed and re-skimmed their schedule for the day, trying to ignore the ache in her skull.
👻 👻 👻

I'm late to the party because I've had no internet for a couple of months and now it's finally back so I've just watched all the episodes I missed, and I somehow forgot how much I love these people.
I should say though, I was not sure what I was going to think about MF because even though I enjoyed bfu tc at the time because of the dynamic, I'm not huge on true crime. BUT after watching all the mf eps+debrief I have to say I LOVE this choice they made because in fact they didn't just copy it and instead they made the best possible choice they could by focusing on interesting, usually fun and mostly victimless (rip the livestock in the chupacabra ep) mysteries and I'm so happy they did that!!!! Like they could've gone the same route again and it would've probably been ok but they decided to choose something more lighthearted and within their vibe (+kinda more ethical imo) and it's perfect!!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 10/10 no notes
And most importantly :) FUCK RON DESANTIS
ahh so glad to have you back anon <33
and i FULLY agree w you !! i love that they’ve given themselves a much broader spectrum of potential topics w this show as opposed to the very narrow one they had w bfutc. i’m so glad they’re gonna keep topics lighter too! it’s already making eps more fun and enjoyable since they’re not discussing real people’s real tragedies while peppering in respectful jokes - which i believe they were always really good about but still it’s nice they won’t have to toe that line anymore.
i absolutely adored this season and can’t wait for more!

For the next season of ghost files, I would like them to talk more about the history of some of the places they visit. It was one of the things that set BFU apart from other paranormal shows. I think they did a better job in the finale, but the Hull House has a rich history and Jane Adams was such a cool person. I would have liked for them to talk about it more! I loved this season, the production value was amazing!

Get to know me
I've been tagged in three separate memes with that title by @timaeusterrored and @katsigian, thanks a lot for thinking of me! :D For brevity's and simplicity's sake I'm just gonna throw all of them together in one post ~ Won't be tagging anyone in particular, but if you read this and feel inclined to share some stuff about yourself, pick and choose from the questions listed here and feel free to tag me in your posts! :D
Favorite color: Purple, Turquoise, and Black
Relationship: single
Currently reading: when I'm not re-reading my own stuff for editing purposes, I currently just really enjoy reading everyone's Cyberpunk drabbles and OC lore posts because I live for that stuff! for having been a very bookish kid I don't really read much anymore admittedly D:
Last song Played: "A Dialogue In B Flat Minor" by In Flames (it's on my V playlist and a very Vince and Johnny song to me XD)
Song Stuck in my Head: "Gloves" by Saint Punk (I'm obsessed with it because it fits Vince so much and I'm working on something inspired by it)
Last Movie: oooof... I think it was "The Shawshank Redemption", I was recently in the mood of rewatching some 90s classics while drawing!
Last series: If youtube series count, I'm currently rewatching Buzzfeed Unsolved: True Crime for the 11th or so time XD I've loved true crime stuff for as long as I can remember and BFU is also just really nice as background noise for when I'm working on something for a few hours at a time. Looking forward to diving into Mystery Files xD (the last "actual" series I watched before that was "Better Call Saul", rewatched it from start to finish in English for the first time xD)
Sweet, spicy, or savory: ooohhh hmmm.... dammit, I guess I'm too much of a sweet-tooth to not pick sweet xD
Favourite Food: Pizza with lots of different cheeses
Craving: to quit my dayjob, because objectively, it would just be really fucking funny to do. We're chronically understaffed and simultaneously also being forbidden overtime to catch up on the backlog, so it's just extremely exhausting at the moment.
Tea or coffee: Coffee, but tea is nice too :3
Dream Trip: everywhere... but my top 3 are Japan, Iceland, and Canada. I'd love to go to Japan during cherry blossom season, spend one week in all the big cities and another more on the countryside, going hiking, looking at temples, forests, and spending a day or two at a ryokan with onsen. Iceland I'd also like to see as much of as possible, I'd actually love to do a guided tour on horseback across the country xD And honestly, same for Canada (without the horses though), also a trip across the country visiting all kinds of sights and cities along the way would be awesome.
Last Thing I Googled: 2023 Conventions Germany
Currently working on: the final stages of my new Kerry x V drawing, editing some VP shoots, writing Vince's background lore fic (6 chapters done, about 6 more to go!), started writing a post-canon fic (but only have a few paragraphs), and my ongoing Cyberpunk 2077 Let's Play videos XD cause I always wanted to make a full Let's Play like that and given my current obsession it works. Looming on the horizon are also some short comics and ideas for mods and even more VP!
Are you named after Anyone?
After an OC of mine, if we go with Elven as the name I'm predominantly using atm XD Long story short, but "Elvenbeard" was an elf OC I once cosplayed as and who got his name from a friend of mine during a very long and funny train ride to the convention we were headed to. Good times XD
2. When was the last time you cried?
A couple of days ago. I think it was a mix of stress and having too many feels about Kerry xD
3. Do you have kids?
Nope, and don't want any. Unless pets count.
4. Do you use Sarcasm a lot?
I would never do such a thing.
5. What Sports do you play/ have you played?
None xD I was the short fat kid that got relentlessly bullied by my PE teacher for years which completed ruined any interest in sports I might have ever developed.
6. What's the first thing you notice about other people?
Honestly... I think I've gotten quite good at picking up people's vibes first. Picked up a very bad "stay-far-away-from-them" vibe from someone a couple of days ago, and when I met them again a little while later one of the first things out of their mouth is transphobic bullshit. I (sadly) felt rather validated with my first impression.
7. Eye Colour?
Hazel.
8. Scary Movies or Happy Endings?
Both can be good! I don't like overly gory movies or stuff that relies heavily on jump scares, but a scary film with a good story and some unexpected twists I really like (some of my faves being "Hush" and "The Conjuring"). I'm also a sucker for Happy Endings though. Best thing overall? Angst with a Happy Ending.
9. Any Special Talents?
Does hyperfocus count as a special talent these days? XD
10. Where were you born?
Somewhere in rural Germany.
11. What are your hobbies?
Yes... Drawing, writing, sewing, crafting, cosplay, gaming... and the newest addition: virtual photography!
12. Do you have any pets?
Yess, a cat!
13. How tall are you?
160cm/ 5'2 - smol and full of rage
14. Fave Subject in School?
Art, History, and English as a secondary language
15. Dream Job?
Creating things that make people happy and being able to live off of it ooooor anything that allows me to finance that kinda "maker of all kinds of things" lifestyle I'm dreaming of. Ideally, if I have to keep a dayjob, I'd like one that only takes place in the timespan of Monday to Thursday, or Tuesday to Friday, and doesn't start at 5.30 in the morning, but at 9 or 10. Or just generally the option of home office would be nice. I don't wanna be rich, but I'd like to have financial security for myself and my cat, enough time to do my silly little arts and crafts, and travel somewhere cool once a year or so.

Hello! For how long have you been a fan of the Buzz Boyz/Watcher?
hey!
i first discovered shane and ryan back in spring of 2018 when they did a little show called ruining history. i had heard of bfu but i didn't start watching that until mid-2019 when i finally realised ruining history wasn't coming back for a second season and i wanted to see more of them.
i was already aware of steven because i watched his channel before he went to work at buzzfeed, and i was thrilled when all three of them left to start their own channel together.

Before Mystery Files braves the algorithm this Friday, thought I’d do a quick check-in with the Watcher viewcounts.
First and foremost, WWW has cooled down a bit. It’s in line with the first six weeks of original WWW eps, Mystic Museum and Soda Pals, and better than the rest. Older eps have cooled off too, although they really did get significant boosts there for awhile. My personal opinion about WWW’s future is that if they get sponsors for it, it may become a travel show (like the Montana episode) but is dependent on their schedule and being sponsored. Still, I will be holding out hope for an Iowa State Fair WWW because it would be a delight to me personally.
As you can see, the second season of Worth a Shot has not blown the doors off. Sad because I liked the changes to the format a lot, bringing in Mari as a co-host, having a couple episodes with a Steven battle.
New season of TMS is right in line with last year’s, so it’s nice to see it be consistent. Also last year’s got a nice little boost.
Ghost Files continues to do banger numbers every week, particularly the Hobo Hill House finale. Last week it got 81k views, which is almost as much as the new WAS did.
Mystery Files starts this week! My official prediction is that it will do quite well, but not Ghost Files level. This is based on my BFU viewcounting, where True Crime and SPN were quite equal in viewers until the last couple years when SPN became a more statistical favorite. TC often really popped off based on subject, so I’ll be interested to see if that follows here.
I’m excited for MF to do well for a few reasons. First, obviously, I want all their series to do well. Second, having seen the premiere on Patreon last week, I can confirm that it’s a very good show with amazing production and it truly feels like a Team Watcher show and not necessarily Team Ryan/Shane/Steven/whoever. It’s very collaborative! And third, because MF is made in-house without travel expenses, the better it does means the more the company can do travel videos or take chances on other creators or new concepts.
For posterity, as of May 15, 2023, Watcher has 2.53 million subscribers, 274 videos, and 283,468,098 views. That averages to 1.034 million views per video. This is up from 1.018m views per video from December.

Calacus Weekly Hit & Miss – Alan Pardew & Amelie Mauresmo
Every week we look at the best and worst communicators in the sports world from the previous week.
HIT - ALAN PARDEW
To be a successful football manager, or to thrive in any leadership role for that matter, you sometimes have to take a stand despite the personal cost.
You have to lead by example - something that we have seen sadly absent in many leaders in recent months and years.
Former Premier League manager Alan Pardew resigned from his role as manager and technical director of CSKA Sofia, one of the leading football clubs in Bulgaria, last week on a matter of principle.
His resignation, coupled with the resignation of his assistant manager, Alex Dyer, the first black man to hold a coaching role at the club, came as a response to racist abuse from CSKA Sofia fans, who threw bananas and directed racist abuse at four of their own players following their arrival for a recent match against Botev Plovdiv. The team initially refused to play in the game but were later persuaded to do so.
CSKA’s fans had been angered by a cup final loss to derby rivals Levski Sofia a week earlier, targeting minority players with racist abuse.
Pardew quit the Bulgarian club just 34 days after being appointed as full-time manager. He had planned to continue in his role next season after holding talks with the club following their Bulgarian Cup final defeat to rivals Levski Sofia last month.
In a statement he said: “First, I want to thank all the real CSKA fans for their support and passion for the club. To Grisha and Dani Ganchevi for their efforts to bring the club forward in such challenges and circumstances.
“It was a privilege for me to be a part of and to serve this club! Unfortunately, my time here is over! The events before and after the match with Botev (Plovdiv) were not acceptable for me, for my assistant Alex Dyer, or for our players. The reason no one gave an interview after the meeting was that we were all very outraged by the situation that had escalated.
“Our players decided to play only out of loyalty and to protect the club. The small group of organized racist fans who tried to sabotage this match is not what I want to lead and represent the team. Definitely, this is not the right path for the benefit of CSKA, because such a club deserves much more.
“I would like to especially thank the captain Jurgen Matai and the players, the former ones, the staff and the staff for their brilliant support, especially Hristo Stoichkov, Filip Filipov and Iva Warren. I hope that the club and all those who really care about it will unite, because only together and united can we progress and pursue great goals.”
It should have been an easy decision for Pardew and Dyer to make, but a brave one nonetheless. Pardew is now out of work and will now have to look elsewhere for a management job.
For years Bulgarian football has been plagued by racism in its stadiums. In 2011, the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) was fined after England players Ashley Young, Ashley Cole and Theo Walcott were subjected to racist abuse from fans during a European Championship qualifier.
During a 6-0 home defeat to England in a Euro 2020 qualifier, the game was halted twice as fans were warned about racist behaviour including Nazi salutes and monkey chanting.
UEFA have often been criticised for their lenient punishments to clubs and nations who have been racist to players in international games. Indeed, the Bulgarian FA were  ordered by UEFA to play their next competitive home game following the England loss behind closed doors, with a further match suspended for two years after the racist chanting. Bulgaria were also fined 75,000 euros (£65,000).
This was seen as a light punishment by many, which could enable the behaviour that led to Pardew admirably resigning from his post.
The England team have had far too many racist chants aimed at their players in recent times. Just last year, England players were racially abused during their 4-0 win over Hungary in Budapest having been booed when they took a knee prior to the World Cup Qualifier.
Hungary got off lightly, having to play their next home World Cup qualifier behind closed doors and pay a fine of 200,000 Swiss francs (£158,000) as punishment for the racist abuse.
Last Saturday, England were once again in Hungary, this time for a Nations League game at the Puskas Arena.
Coach Gareth Southgate said England were "surprised" that at least 35,000 fans would attend the behind-closed-doors fixture and voiced concerns that anti-racism punishments are affecting the wrong people.
The problems of racism in football are not confined to overseas, though.
Just last month, Kick It Out  said that hate is “alive and well” in English football following racist abuse by Everton supporters targeting Brentford players’ families and after Burnley fans were arrested for discriminatory gestures.
It will be interesting to see where Alan Pardew ends up next, and if any other managers or players follow his lead and are willing to risk their jobs in order to stand up for what is right.
MISS – AMELIE MAURESMO
The much-anticipated French Open match between clay court King Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, competing in his first Grand Slam of the year after being controversially expelled from Australia in January, certainly lived up to expectations.
The marathon match started at 845pm local time and lasted four hours, 12 minutes, finishing beyond 1am last Wednesday, prompting debate about the timings of such games.
It also caused logistical issues, with many of the 15,000 spectators unable to use public transportation to get home and local broadcasters unhappy at the late conclusion.
Nadal, through the media, and his manager, Carlos Costa, made clear that he preferred not to play at night, because of the way the cooler temperatures affect his shots, having dropped below 60 degrees Fahrenheit during the match.
Amelie Mauresmo, the newly-appointed French Open tournament director, faced the media the following day where the topic of the late starts and the schedule in general came up for debate.
Mauresmo was clearly unprepared for the questioning that followed the Nadal - Djokovic quarter-final, particularly when it became clear that only one of the 10 night sessions at this year's event was a women's match.
As former Women’s world number one, who won the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006, Mauresmo’s response essentially belittled the women’s game and disparaged the entire WTA Tour.
Mauresmo said: “In this era we are in right now – and as a woman, a former woman's player, I don't feel bad or unfair saying this – you have more attraction and appeal, in general, for the men's matches.
“As far as I'm concerned, night sessions in the stadium are definitely appropriate, because it was always full to the brim every night.
“There was a real enthusiasm. People could actually work during the day and yet watch the match during the evening.
“It's the first year that I'm the tournament director. I'm learning a lot of things regarding the scheduling of the tournament. We will actually have a feedback session on this at the end, but it's just 10 night matches overall.
“Having such late matches could actually trigger some questions. I'm wondering about it myself. My goal was, when I was doing the schedule every day, to try and see, from the first round, when the draw came out... what match in the woman's draw can I put there? Honestly.”
Understandably, Mauresmo’s comments were met with indignation by current professionals.
Even without the star power of 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, who has not competed since getting injured at Wimbledon nearly a year ago, the women’s game has continued to be popular, with Emma Raducanu’s victory from qualifying in the US Open last autumn one the most memorable sporting moments of the 2021.
Top seed Iga Swiatek said: “I think women's tennis has a lot of advantages. It is a little bit disappointing and surprising because she was also in the WTA.
"From my point of view, for every player it's more convenient to play at a normal hour, but for sure I want to entertain and I also want to show my best tennis in every match.
"So I think it's kind of the personal opinion of every person if they like men's tennis or women's tennis more, or if they like them equally.
"And some may say that it's unpredictable and girls are not consistent. But on the other hand it may also be something that is really appealing and it may really attract more people. So it depends on the personal views of some people."
Eleventh seed Jessica Pegula, believes that Mauresmo’s stance is “not something you want to hear,” and noted that the best way to grow interest in any sport is “to have chances” to show how good the product is.
“Of course, it’s always a little disappointing to hear that’s her reasoning, being a female ... Slam champion. But hopefully we can change that.”
“To me, I feel like so many people love watching women’s tennis because we don’t have huge serves. We’re not acing. There’s not a lot of super, super quick points,” Pegula said. “There’s more rallies. There’s more drama.”
With no access to public transport and television audiences waning, Mauresmo was at least candid about her lack of experience and the problems that need to be eradicated before next year’s event.
Why they had not been considered ahead of this, one of the four tennis Grand Slams
Speaking about transport issues, Mauresmo added: “That's actually a key issue that needs to be settled, and that will be one of our priorities in the future. We haven't planned anything yet, but obviously we need to organise ourselves differently with bus systems, with the underground system.
“If we continue with these night sessions, people need to leave the stadium late enough and make sure that they have a way to come back home. We do not have the means to organise this for 15,000 people yet. For the moment, there is nothing.”
Host broadcaster France TV was also upset by the scheduling, which handed exclusivity to Amazon Prime.
Chief Executive Delphine Ernotte said that she was “deeply shocked” by the decision to put Nadal-Djokovic on at night and thus hand exclusive rights to Amazon Prime.
“It's a very bad blow to our partnership, as we have been involved for years in exposing and popularising the tournament with all French people," she added, before complaining of the "privatisation of sport to the detriment of those who cannot afford it.”
Mauresmo responded: “I can understand that they are not happy with this choice but we should actually make sure that this relationship with France TV is a peaceful one. We do not want to make things awful between us. That's not the objective at all.”
A few days later, Mauresmo, presumably now having taken some professional communications advice, reigned back from her initial comments.
She clarified: “I want to say sorry to the players that really felt bad about what I said.
“The comments I made were taken out of context. The people who know me, who've known me on and off the court, throughout my career, throughout everything that I've done, know I'm a big fighter for equal rights and women's tennis, women in general.”
Clearly Mauresmo has a lot to learn about communication, being prepared for lines of questioning and issues that may arise during such a high profile tournament.
Her chaotic answers did little to fuel confidence in the event or indeed of women’s tennis in general.
That’s why it is so important for communications teams to provide support, briefings and training for any executive likely to face the media – and work with them to address any potential issues before they occur.
It will be fascinating to see what changes at the French Open next year and how that translates to Mauresmo’s external communications.
