which means... Miguel's 2099 dystopia futuristic world doesn't have coffee beans anymore, he just drinks whatever the coffee flavored chemical juice his world can mixed up. Even processed coffee and instant coffee requires actual coffee beans in it (but very low quality beans)

now imagine if u bring your $5 local cafe take-out coffee anywhere near him :))) just watch him squirming, seething with jealous, his enhanced senses of smell greedily taking in that cheap coffee from across the room. No among of wealth or resources within his controls can afford him the real thing. He doesn't know u wont mind bringing some for him or even get him instant coffee to brew at his own leisure, how is he even going to ask you for such a menial favor? He doesn't want to ask anyone to do anything unless it directly related to the job/ missions

I made my sister try beyond burger and her genuine reaction was 🤭😳 she could not believe it was vegan but she really liked it. She found it even better than beef as it is not very greasy. I felt I was opening a whole new world for her 🤗

damn eating only a bowl of cereal today and then getting a double cheeseburger with chili and fritos and all the veggie toppings and fries and drink is making me wired

@rowanthestrange on the topic of the master/missy and touch, i just got to this paragraph in my wip that i wrote months ago. i think it sums up all my feelings about them and touch (specifically missy, i imagine dhawans would be a little different):

missy stands in front of the mirror in the bathroom that is hers. her hair wet. her face bare.

missy does not stand in front of the mirror in the bathroom that is hers. not entirely. missy is a costume one step backed out of. shes thinking of hermit crabs and turtles. pale soft edible bodies. spines fused to shields/shells. inside and outside separable, brought together by force, by necessity, survival. inside and outside a möbius strip, a one that looks like two, a beginning that looks like an end, an end that looks like it has a beginning. spiral, circle, ouroboros.

shes thinking of snakes now. and spiders and frogs. she licks her lips, tastes venom.

she itches. shes tugging at skin thats not ready to let go. she wants to pull. she wants to cut open the chrysalis. watch the half-made spill dead on the ground. she wants to break herself in the making. she wants to see blood. self-sabotage. exposing herself to be eaten. she wants to be touched where she cant be touched. she thinks shes okay with that touch ending her. she thinks shes okay with that touch being teeth. she thinks shes okay;

she wants to be touched.

(i havent chosen yet whether im going with shields or shells in that one line. probably shells bc thats the correct english word, im just leaving shields in for now as a note to myself bc when i was writing i wrote shield at first bc in dutch theyre called shields, and then i was like wait thats the wrong word, but then i was like wait but that adds such a good dimension though. so, shields/shells for now)

(and i keep coming back to the idea of missy, and the master in general, and self-sabotage. theyre so intensely driven by self-preservation they will kill themself again and again to, you know, serve that master. if i can make an accidental pun. they will go so far as to kill themself to preserve themself. which sounds like a contradiction but it really isnt if you look at the things that have threatened them;

like simm? faced with the threat of captivity by the doctor, thinking this would destroy them (they were right) they killed themself to avoid it. if you assume that in extremis she really had no way out (which im not really assuming) missy makes the opposite choice, captivity and life offers chances death does not. if you assume she could have got out of there just fine she just thought the doctor wouldnt answer his texts, then it’s her making the choice that captivity and healing her relationship with the doctor offers more survival chances than staying stuck in time war ptsd (she was probably also right there).

in the doctor falls they both acted out of their own perspectives on self-preservation. result double murder-suicide (and dhawan, which is probably something to think about if we’re looking at his suicidal tendencies)

and i play with this in my dhawan missy vault fic too. he tries to get her to give up. he breaks into the vault, leaves the door open, tries to tempt her. tries to get her to break it off now before the doctor falls happens because that will lead to him in the state hes in now. self-sabotage as self-preservation. okay now back to the point:)

like, she needs to be touched but not just touched but touched like with love, right? but the only person she can imagine doing that is the doctor. and letting the doctor do that, to ask for their love like that, or to accept their love like that, theres no way she can see that The Master, the role, come out that intact. we saw that with the vault (and in my view dhawan) it's a deconstruction of the master. missy deconstructs it. dhawan is now like, a turtle that you broke the shell off who crawled back into its shell spine broken and bleeding. you know, if turtles could do that. which they probably cant. you probably just kill the turtle. but, you know, for the metaphor.

so in a way it's another self-sabotage for self-preservation. completely dismantle yourself so you can get the thing you need to survive
