THE BEYONCÉ EFFECT — PART 1 ⚡️  RAP-SINGING  (Listen to the evolution of her rap-singing here)
Music critics have often credited Beyoncé with the invention of the staccato rap-singing style that has since dominated pop, R&B and rap music. Lakin Starling of The Fader wrote that Beyoncé's innovative implementation of the delivery style on Destiny's Child's 1999 album The Writing's on the Wall invented a new form of R&B.
Beyoncé's new style subsequently changed the nature of music, revolutionizing both singing in urban music and rapping in pop music, and becoming the dominant sound of both genres. The style helped to redefine both the breadth of commercial R&B and the sound of hip hop, with artists such as Kanye West and Drake implementing Beyoncé's cadence in the late 2000s and early 2010s. The staccato rap-singing style continued to be used in the music industry in the late 2010s and early 2020s; Aaron Williams of Uproxx described Beyoncé as the "primary pioneer" of the rapping style that dominates the music industry today, with many contemporary rappers implementing Beyoncé's rap-singing.
Michael Eric Dyson agrees, saying that Beyoncé "changed the whole genre" and has become the "godmother" of mumble rappers, who use the staccato rap-singing cadence. Dyson added: "She doesn't get credit for the remarkable way in which she changed the musical vocabulary of contemporary art."
(Beyoncé is a great rapper and always has been) (What genre is Beyoncé, anyways?)

anyway I am going to spoil everyone's fun. The Mummy is a racist movie, it's frustrating that it's popular and no one discusses that, and let me explain why
Whitewashing/brownface/self orientalism. The Carnahan's are meant to be mixed race. Their actors are white. Oded Fehr is white and a significant portion of his career has been playing exotic brown people in media made for white people, specifically while weaponizing the ethnic ambiguity he does have. Imhotep is white- insult to injury, his actor is an Afrikaner! Playing a pre-colonial African character! The only Egyptians played by people who arent white are the sex pest warden, Dr. Bey (also a minor character who dies), and Anck-su-namun. None of their actors are Egyptian.
The portrayal of Egyptian men. The warden and Jonathan are both portrayed as pathetic, weak, morally circumspect, and the warden is a pervert. Imhotep is also a pervert, frankly. The Egyptian public at large- mostly male crowds and male workers- are literally canon fodder and senselessly killed on multiple occasions. They're turned into mindless zombies, with no consideration given to what happens to them afterwards. Did hundreds of people just die? In public? The only two Egyptian men that aren't utterly horrible are Evie's boss, Dr. Bey, and Ardeth.
The portrayal of Egyptian women. The only two we actually hear speak is Evie and Anck-su-namun, both of whom have orientalist tropes applied to them- Evie, when they make her dress "local", and Anck-su-namun with the whole titlating "the pharaoh has me walk around naked and covered in wet body paint so no one can touch me without him knowing" nonsense- similar tropes are applied to Ardeth, frankly, with how his tattoos are portrayed, his ethnic background, etc. They specifically chose tattoos a Western audience would still find sexy (which aren't based on the actual local tattooing traditions). Face veils in early 20th century Egypt didn't really look like that, even the ones you might call flirty, and I find portrayals that make Ancient Egyptian society's overall often greater comfort with bared skin into titillation for the audience pretty offensive, especially as there are currently existing cultures in Africa viewed through lenses like that. It's not merely ahistorical, it's apart of a broader issue with how living people are viewed by others.
This is more of a me thing, other Egyptians may not agree: I think mummies as a horror trope are racist. The key fear to mummy movies is that white people might get punished for disturbing the graves of the honored dead. You are asked to identify with literal colonizers and view the local population as antagonistic (past and present in this case), especially in this movie, which is set before England started pretending it wasn't controlling Egypt (and by the damn way, ask ANY Egyptian when the country got independence and we'll say 1956. Between 22 and 56, England still had explicit control over some of the government, notably foreign relations and military, it used this an excuse to justify control of Sudan, and it was militarily occupying the country, especially the Suez area. When King Farouk tried to make a decision they didn't like, they put his palace under seige. That is not independence. Whoever made the 1922 declaration the first result on Google is manufacturing apologia for imperialism).

I thought up random stuff for Beyblade... again
Bladers call their beys by nicknames or shortened names instead of their actually names outside of battles (like Storm Aquario might be called Storm or Hades Kerbecs might be called Kerbie).
Bladers who travel on their own a lot often train their beys so that the avatar can accompany them. This technique is also more common in performer spheres as it does drain energy and wouldn’t be smart for a battle blader to constantly be doing.
Beys tend to listen to people who are close with their blader as well (for example Toby and Zeo can command each others beys if they want) and generally all beys being willing to listen to a mechanic if they’ve been to them numerous times before and trust them.
Some beys can alter their avatar if what they are based on has multiple forms (like Horuseus can be a falcon as well, or Aquario can take on the form of a wave and a water spirit).
When bladers get to a really high level of strength and control, they can temporarily embody the power of their bey (as seen by Pluto at the battle of Nemesis and Ryuga’s teleportation). This power varies in form from bey to bey and can be built up over time (Kenta with teleportation and a bow, Gingka with wings, Kyoya with creating wind currents, nile with shields etc).
Even if they stop battling later in life, former bladers often still carry their beys with them, often hiding bey boxes in professional settings in increasingly creative ways.
Tag team partners who battle together a lot typically end up mimicking each other subconsciously and usually have some form of matching item in their appearances (tattoo, jewelry, etc).
DJs often got into fights about "blader custody" during the world championships, aka who got announce for them since they were DJing for them the longest. And it wasn't just National DJs with each other, regional ones jumped in too. It was chaos.
Different types of bladers value and aim for different things in their beys, so comparisons between different groups by each other tend to fall short as they hold them to their standards. Because of this, there are sheets on the WBBA websites of what is common goals of each groups for reporters who might not be fluent in these.

heyy,, guys I know it sometimes sucks that you don't get the adoptable you want or from the person but going forward can we stop trying to complain about not getting the design to the person who got it instead,, I understand but.. I would prefer not to feel guilty about getting a character that I really wanted.

This is the fake scene I mentioned when I posted a fake screenshot of it! :D
I still think it’s super dumb for the kids not to have been angry/disappointed with Aiger for breaking Valtryek.
Literally, Phi breaks Fafnir, and Valt screams for Free to get out of Phoenix’s attack, and then immediately rushes down to reprimand Phi and challenge him. But ohhh nooooo, Aiger gets away with BREAKING. THE WORLD CHAMPION’S. BEYBLADE.
At the very, VERY least, Toko and Nika should have been upset with him! He broke their big brother’s Bey! Nika literally started crying when it happened! Toko tried not to cry! How are you supposed to still be all buddy buddy with someone when they harmed your family member so badly, and haven’t even apologized for it?
Aiger did face repercussions for his corruption through his bond with Achilles weakening, but he didn’t face any repercussions from his friends, which he logically SHOULD HAVE.
Seriously, if I were his friends (OR LITERALLY EVEN JUST AN AUDIENCE MEMBER, you know Valt has to have fans that should’ve been angry with Aiger), I would be so mad at him.

i don’t mean to be an ass i just can’t stand people saying shit like, “you’re already jewish to me”, “you’re more jewish than [jewish person],” or “i can’t wait for you to join the tribe.” like that’s explicitly not allowed and just because someone in the process has opinions you find favourable does not make them “more jewish” than jews you disagree with like ffs.

lying face down on the ground thinking about how everything shara bey did for the rebels was so that her son could live in a better world. spending her youth fighting an impossible war. getting captured and tortured and interrogated by the empire. risking everything, not just her life but her future and her husbands future, risking leaving her son without his parents. Just so Poe wouldn't have to fight the same battles she did and grow up in the same world she did.
and then she dies young after the war and leaves him without his mother anyway. and he spends his youth fighting an impossible war. and he gets captured and tortured and interrogated by the first order the same as she did. he risks everything for the rebellion, the same rebellion his mother sacrified everything for for HIM. shara bey is rolling over in her goddamned grave. the first order is lucky she wasn't force sensitive bc her force ghost would be single-handedly ending their shit
