Their five betta fish starter kits range from 0.25 - 0.75 gallon per fish, and they're advertised as suitable environments. They create low quality conditions with no room for adequate heating or filtration.
Betta fish need at least five gallons, a filter, heater, and lots of environmental enrichment like plants and hiding spots.
Aqueon's tagline is "it's all about the fish" but they have been deleting comments and silencing the voices of concerned fish lovers. They will probably continue to sell these as long as they can make a profit from them.
Please help raise awareness about these harmful Aqueon tanks.
newest edition to the betta family! meet ‘Ofisheus’ pronounced like and named after Odysseus from my favorite book! ☺️ he’s more rainbow opalescent in person and he’s beautiful!
Hey everyone! C from the Rainbow Rock Tank team here. We are sad to announce that on October 8th, 2023, our beloved Shinoda crossed the rainbow anemone. He was in water conditions that weren't the greatest, so we are assuming that the stress is what got to him. We gave him a great life regardless.
In happier news, the tank has been re-scaped and cycled correctly so we can have a fresh start! Our newest inhabitant is Bubba the Halfmoon Plakat.
His rainbow rocks are actually rainbow gems, so the rainbow rock tank theme is here to stay.
We are thinking of getting him a snail later on down the line, though! With a happier, healthier betta comes a need for happier, healthier tank mates.
Target is promoting harmful pet products and misleading consumers. The 0.5 gallon Nature's Aquaponic by Penn-Plax is not a "healthy environment" for betta fish.
There's no space for bettas to swim, nor is there room for a filter and heater. Toxins accumulate rapidly in the low water volume, but the marketing of this tank gives people the (wrong) impression that the plants alone will sufficiently filter the water.
Will Target discontinue its sale of under one gallon betta fish tanks?
Target currently lists four under one gallon tanks on its website (all by Penn-Plax): 0.5 gal Nature's Aquaponic, 0.7 gal 3-1 Betta kit, 0.7 gal SpongeBob kit, and 0.7 gal Finding Dory kit.
Bettas need 5+ gal, a filter, heater, and lots of environmental enrichment like plants and hiding spots.
Since we've upgraded his decor, Buddy went from a happy fish to dare I say the happiest fish alive. Overnight he grew so much , and his fins have finally fully expanded and have seemed to grow, too. This photos 4 days after and I can't be happier. The rip in his bottom back fin has also improved so much.
Now I just need to scrape the marker I drew on his tank with off 😬 he really enjoyed me drawing him circles and fish.
Someone built a bubble nest! No girlies here but he’s happy. Scroll to see the cutest lil face. #bettafish #bettalover #bettalove #bettatank #plantedtank #bluebetta #bluefish #dumbobetta https://www.instagram.com/p/CqN3pXgupa3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
