Still Breathing: Ch. 23
Title: Still Breathing Chapter: 23/?? "Labor of Love" Relationships: Beth Greene/Daryl Dixon Summary: Maggie confesses her fears to Beth, and finally, the day they've been waiting for arrives.
As she did, Daryl came back up to the loft, pulling on his own sneakers and a flannel shirt over his t-shirt. As he grabbed the emergency bag they’d prepared for Annie-May, Beth found herself babbling on, “Make sure she’s got enough formula and extra bottles, and diapers…” She knew on some level that the bag had everything the baby needed, but she couldn’t stop the words from spilling out of her panicked lips.
Then Daryl rounded the bed to stand between her and the bassinet. When she tipped her head up to him, hands still occupied in braiding back her hair, he leaned in and pressed a kiss to her forehead. His nose nuzzled hers for a brief moment, long enough for him to murmur, “You’ve got this, Greene. I’ll be back with Enid and Maggie as soon as possible, and I’ll be right by your side.” His eyes met hers, lingering long enough to make sure the words had gotten across. Only when she gave a nod did his lips brush hers in a kiss.

I posted fic for the first time in a year! If you followed me for my Bethyl stuff, this one's for you 💕
In the dingy, derelict, old kitchen, a girl with purple hair and a lip ring gave him a stick-n-poke tattoo with a sewing needle and ink from a ballpoint pen— a little blue star on the back of his hand.
A decade later, he gave himself a "B" on his left middle finger and it hurt more than he remembered but exactly the way he’d hoped.

Still Breathing: Ch. 11
Title: Still Breathing Chapter: 11/?? “Hopeful Possibilities” Relationships: Beth Greene/Daryl Dixon Summary: We catch up to the survivors six months after their decision to make Haven their home, and set the stage for things to come.
“S’alright to be afraid,” Daryl murmured, repeating the reassuring words he’d told her more than once, whispering them in the safe silence of their snug little bedroom loft as the rising sun washed the wooden walls in warm pale light. “Just can’t let it get hold of you too much, right? Gotta put it away.”
The echoed words, a sign of just how far they’d both come, made Beth smile and snuggle a little closer to him beneath their covers. She tilted her head, dragging her nose over his neck as she breathed out, “Or at least some of it. I think if we started trapping everything we felt away inside of us again, both those books of ours would leap back off the bookshelf and smack us over the heads.”
With that, both of them were laughing, shattering the last bit of darkness in the air as her giggles and his rumbling chuckles mingled in the air. When their laughter finally trailed off, the air felt warmer, yet lighter at the same time, as if their lightheartedness had buoyed their spirits, lifting the weight right off her shoulders.

Love Letters:
Can You See Right Through Me? by @mistressheroine
Beth and Daryl come across a white wooden house nestled in the woods while looking for shelter from an oncoming storm and a herd of agitated walkers. With Alexandria too far to reach before nightfall, they decide to stay the night. Inside they find a wooden box containing a stack of old love letters with a note saying they hope the story contained within will help them to realise just how powerful hope and love truly are. Beth convinces Daryl to read them with her and they find more than just an old love story hidden within the pages. Could this be the thing that will finally bring them together? Written for the Bethyl Holiday Fest 2023 Valentine's Day prompt 'Love Letters'.
Silent Valentine by olpie09 (@olpie)
After their New Year's Eve kiss, Daryl and Beth begin to exchange notes and their relationship grows into something more. Inspired by Bethyl Holidays Fest 2023 prompt: Love Letters

the "Asexual Daryl Dixon" and "Demisexual Daryl Dixon" tags on AO3 have woefully few fics, and most of those are for pairings I have no interest in. There has to be a way to find fic that can reasonably read as such even if it isn't tagged that way, right? Does anyone out in the void have any recs? I don't want to have to write more fic to fill the gap in what I want to read. My writing's too shit for me to actually enjoy it

Small Miracles
Beth Greene is not dead. Though it is not for a lack of trying.
After eight long years spent in the CRM's grasp, struggling to find reasons to continue surviving, Beth finally finds her reason: Rick and Daryl are alive, and they are closer than she ever could've guessed. Now she must take advantage of her only opportunity to escape and track them down.
Along the way, she revisits all of the places that changed her into who she has become. And she is forced to remember who she truly is at heart despite how unrecognizable she finds herself.
But she has an unexpected ally along for the journey. Just the same as her, he is somewhat of a living miracle. Except he's no longer living... he's a walker.

Chapter 20 // Part 12: Nuevo Atlanta II
She can see everything from up here. The building is just tall enough to overlook the entire community, as well as the skyline of Atlanta itself. And just as Elba said, it’s a perfect spot for stargazing. For thinking. For breathing. Beth steps to the edge and gazes out at the community of Nuevo Atlanta, able to see countless windows and shadowy forms. If she looks further, she can see the top of Grady in the distance. She sits herself carefully on the edge, feet dangling, and just looks. Just thinks. Just breathes. She recalls the letter from Edwards, squinting and imagining that she can see where the helicopter picked him up and took him away. It must’ve been the same spot where they picked her up and took her away. And after her, they took Shepherd. Where is Amanda now, she wonders? Is she still with the CRM? Did they make her a soldier? If Beth had stayed a soldier, would it have been possible that she and Shepherd would’ve been reunited? She’s not sure that she likes to think about that prospect. She squints and gazes further into the distance, imagining that she can see the border of Georgia along the dark horizon. Imagining what she may find waiting for her. She wonders what Daryl is doing right now. Is he sleeping in a clean, warm bed in his safe community in Virginia? Is Rick sleeping in his own bed just next door to Daryl? She knows they wouldn’t stay too far apart from one another, not even in a safe place. They are brothers—not by blood, but by circumstance and, most importantly, choice. Even after all these years, she thinks they’d prefer to stay close. Just in case. Now she’s imagining the damn near impossible: the future. A future where she and Mae both make it to Alexandria. And she already knows that she won’t want to be more than a few yards away from Mae at any given time. She’ll want to be able to step outside and look over and see Mae sitting on the porch next door, drinking coffee and reading a book in the morning sunlight. If Maggie is there—if she and Glenn are there—will they let Beth live with them? She’d like to live with her sister again. It’s been so long. It would make it feel more like home. But what about Daryl? Would he want to share a home with her? Is there a world where it’s possible for Beth to live in one house with Daryl, for Glenn and Maggie to live in the one next door, and for Mae to live in the one on the other side? Then Beth would have all the people she cares about most right within reach. She would finally feel safe. Really, truly safe. Or would she rather live next to the graveyard in Alexandria? Closest to the people she relates to most? She pushes that thought away just as quickly as it comes. She tilts her head skyward and gazes up at the vast stars. The crescent moon. The endless black sky. It resembles a graveyard, she thinks. All dead stars casting their final light, leaving pinpoint marks in the darkness of the abyss. She takes a deep breath of fresh night air, filling her lungs with it and reminding herself that she is alive. She is alive. She is alive. She is alive. And for just a brief moment, she wonders if it’s possible that Daryl is gazing up at the same sky and thinking the same thing.

WIP Whenever
Thanks for the tags @mistressheroine and @sasusc
Here is a snippet from the next chapter of I Need You.
“Who's that?” Sasha points to a silhouette at the top of the watch perch by the wall. It's clear whoever is up there is having a hard time staying upright. The walkers are making the perch move and rock back and forth.
As we approach, our headlights are finally close enough to reveal the person. “Maggie.” Glenn says with an icy edge to his voice. Seeing her up there confuses me. Why is Maggie up there? Is the baby okay? Why isn't she with Beth? Where is Beth?
I slow the truck down as we approach the gate. A plan flows out of me quickly as I bark out orders. “Glenn, get Maggie, Abraham and Sasha, y'all cover him.”
No one argues or hesitates. Just before we come to a complete stop, Glenn rushes out to help his wife. Abraham and Sasha climb up on the truck and start shooting. In less than a minute, I see Maggie and Glenn reunited and can hear Abraham hollerin’ above me. “Can ya get the gate? Thanks pal.”
A second later the gate opens up and I pull the truck up just enough to get us inside. In the side mirror, I watch a small figure pull the gate closed. The short hair gives her away. Carol. She climbs into the cab with me. I look at her and nod, pleased to see her still alive. “What the hell happened?”
“The tower fell and the herd got in. Everyone's been holed up in their houses for hours. Hiding.” She says as she tries to catch her breath.
“What're ya doin’ out here?” I ask.
“Saw them trying to get to Maggie. I was trying to help. Glad ya came when ya did.”
I nod. Why would Beth let Maggie go out there alone? Maybe she wasn't with Maggie when the tower fell. But if she wasn't with Maggie then where the hell was she? Then the passenger door opens again and Maggie and Glenn squish themselves into the truck. “Daryl! I'm so glad you're safe. Where's everyone else?”
Glenn coughs. “It's just us.”
She looks sad and then worried. “Beth and Aaron aren't with you?”
