i need help. I don't know how to put it I words but I truly need help in understanding something. I am from India and you must know how islamophobic it is here rn. So while talking to one of the Hindu extremists, they told me to go and talk to an exmuslim. And I did. And...I don't know what to think because their pain is so raw. And when they ask: where is the left's support to their cause? Why are people so bent on staying "woke" instead of addressing the atrocities carried on in the name of religious idealogy and how can the white feminists gush over quirky Muslim tiktoks and brush aside everything by quoting its not real Islam when theocratic countries are literally just implemting scriptures ( I was talking to a saudi arabian exmuslim woman).

My dilemma is...I don't know what to think anymore. Like I have drawn a complete blank because now I am like...was I wrong in my thought process? And it is frightening me because in India...the way the things are right now...the influence hindutva rhetoric has on the politics of the nation- I feel like I would get lost and won't really know right from wrong. So I came to you. Humbly. To ask your opinion. Like the blogger who I was talking to said...you can't be a Muslim feminist just like you can't be a progressive Nazi. And I don't know what to think.

Firstly, I am very sorry of how terrifying it must have felt for someone like you to live in a country that increasingly do not stand for you and your identity.

I have seen a video about Hasan Minhaj (my favourite comedian) talking about the Indian elections probably like 2 or 3 years back. On Patriot Act. And I understand where your struggle is coming from. At least, what I gathered from Hasan's speech.

But let's get back to you. The way I understands from what you said, you FEAR that this crisis will eventually made you quit your faith, is that correct? First off, NO ONE should ever coerce or manipulate you into changing your faith. If you do sincerely want to change faith, it is entirely up to you. Because your faith is none of other people's (even the people in power) business. Your faith is your own to keep or discard. No one should have a say or do to what you want to do with your life.

Your religion or faith is your own business. Nobody should do anything about it.

It is PROBLEMATIC when people use religion to spread fear (fearmongering) like attacking other people from other religion (which is what EXACTLY what your country is doing right now) or spreading lies about other religion. They spread lies about other religions so that their own religion can be on top. Can dictate whoever they damn please according to their own religion.

It's messed up.

India is more multicultural than what other people think.

Not all Indians are dark skinned. Not all Indians look the same. Not all Indians are following the same one religion. In fact, not all Indians speak the same damn language (they have Hindi, Tamil, Telegu etc. i believe, I hope what I am saying is not wrong because I happen to know lots of things...)

India isn't homogenous.

I can say shit like this because I, myself come from a country that is multiracial / multicultural eventho the official religion is Islam. I am a part of the majority in this case.

What your country is trying to do is ethnic cleansing. Discarding people from other faiths or minorities, and wanting all the citizens to follow their own religion. It's probably both or the either.

You have every right to live as whoever you are, wherever you are. Safely roaming the streets without fearing that people might attack you for your identity.

So, I am asking you to be careful wherever you go about where you live. You are not safe. Neither are your family.

Another thing, the issues that always happens in this world is due to rampant MISINFORMATION. Lies. Stereotyping people from a certain group.

Mainly? FEAR.

Like what happened with 9/11? Every Muslims in the US (and probably Europe) were scrutinized and alienated by people from the other groups because of one terrorist scumbag who decides to kill more than a thousand Americans in a building? What is the result of that incident? American Muslims were ostracized, being labeled terrorists....all because of one Muslim bad apple. Why they did that? Because these people were scared that Muslims around them are gonna come at them and attack them. Scared that Muslims will take over the Western society.

Imo, religious supremacy in any shape or form is dishumanitarian. I also have similar problem from where I live in. Islam is a majority here but the way that the Islamic preachers use their voices to do harm to other minorities of other faith and race, it's downright disgusting. It haven't escalated to a level how your country is doing right now but this shit is possible for one day to happen here as well.

I think that is one of the reason why sometimes I don't feel comfortable identifying as a Muslim.

But whenever I have negative feelings about my faith, I remind myself that people like Hasan Minhaj exists.

Tan France. Yasmeen Ghauri. And more Muslims people who are famous but did not let their religion dictate their whole identity.

By the way, the blogger who said that Muslims can't be feminist... they are wrong for comparing Muslims to Nazis. Obviously, Islam is a religion / faith while Nazi is a group of bigots who acts on genocide for ethnic cleansing of Jewish (Jewish people are mostly people who are in religion of Judaism but not all Jewish people follows Judaism) people in Europe. The fact that they compare these two different things are telling that they do not respect Islam as a religion. Or they haven't done enough research about Islam or the Nazi regime. It's like comparing bread to an eggplant.

And yes, Muslim feminists (see: Malala Yousafzai) do exists while progressive Nazis (doesn't make fucking sense a genocide group are progressive???) do not. *mic drop*

About the other blogger, I am embrassed to say I really do not know much about the holy book. I read it but I don't really read the translations. Because im scared of what I might find.

I happened to be bisexual so you know how it goes....but I would deny that Islam is purely misogynistic. It is more about the men in power who have the say to all this shit.

I hope the other blogger open up their heart to not see this religion as oppressive but the people who always use religion as their way of dictating people's lives and causing harm is.

He was quiet and kept to himself, but he was a highly opinionated young man. As an electrical engineer, his father “Regunatha Pichai” was the first to comment on Pichai’s interest in technology. “He was the class topper, diligent with keen innate intellect that went much beyond the curriculum,” one of his college teachers, Sanat Roy, said of him: “He was the class topper, meticulous with sharp native intelligence that went much beyond the curriculum.” He was head and shoulders above the rest of the pack.

Despite this, he was inconspicuous, constantly seeking to fit in with the rest of the class.” He also received a scholarship to Stanford University, but getting there was difficult enough that his parents had to take out £1,000 – more than Regunatha made in a year – to get him on the aircraft. Sundar Pichai, reiterating the importance of learning from errors, adds another leadership lesson to his repertoire when he underlines the need of admitting failures and taking chances until you achieve. “It’s critical to pursue your ambitions and heart,” he says. “Do something that makes you happy.” With this, he encourages young people to venture outside of their comfort zones, make difficult professional decisions, and, if necessary, take a risk. It may take several efforts to reach the summit, but it is critical to take the initial step and break out from your cocoon. “If you don’t fail sometimes, you aren’t being ambitious enough,” says the Google CEO.
