How long until Pyrrha finally explodes (if at all)?

Pyrrha was... not okay. If she were okay, she was on the border between okay and not okay. If she were okay, she would be at her limit before reaching not okay. But that's not the case. She was not okay.

She was not okay.

Pyrrha must have been a mass-murdering racist who delighted in the screams of children in the past life, because it was the only logical explanation for this cursed life of hers.

She was beyond a mere school girl crush on her partner, leader, and best friend, Jaune Arc. What wasn't there to love anout him? He was tall, handsome, kind, sweet, and honest. All good qualities in a man. Unfortunately, he was also clumsy, which is where her curse begins.

Of course, Pyrrha wasn't perfect either. Aside from warped sense of self-worth after years of training in Argus to become an international sports star, Pyrrha was what her manager, her agent, her mother, her friends, and the janitor called "too nice." Jaune never believed such a thing, but even Pyrrha had to admit that she apologized a lot. And again, her curse begins there.

Maybe the curse did originate from a criminal past life. Someone who refused to apologize for their actions, so now her current life is forced to apologize at every slight thought made. And the curse caught Jaune in it's intangible web.

This morning, Pyrrha woke up and used the bathroom first. A quick, cold shower, but she used the last of the shared shampoo and she forgot to replace it with the bottle under the sink. Nora was next in and she was lividly screeching from inside the shower.

"I'm sorry!" Pyrrha cried.

"Don't worry, I got it." Jaune smiled as he walked in with his footie pajamas. Shut up. He looked cute in them. "Here you GOOO-!"

SMACK-POP!

"Oooh~! Leader~! Such a dirty boy, kissing girls while they're naked~. Why don't I scrub that dirt off~?"

"NO THANK YOU!" Jaune ran out, half-soaked from his shower encounter.

Pyrrha was grateful it didn't go further. The hairbrush in her hand was starting crack from the bending. She still had the rest of the day before apologizing to her mother for breaking another hairbrush.

At breakfast, it was the usually chaos. Ren was chattered at by Nora, while Weiss scolded Ruby for this or that. Yang told another terrible pun while Blake read her book. The non-smutty one.

Pyrrha reached for the butter for her toast when her hand briefly touched Jaune's hand. They were freshly calloused hands, a product of his late nights training with her. His thin frame noticably bulked from the exercises, and she was glad to see the physical progress. His hand was warm, and kind, and nurturing, and-

"Pyrrha?"

"S-Sorry!" She stumbled out of her daydream.

Her leg struck the underside of the table, causing a cup to leap and spill over. A cascade of orange juice spread far. Pyrrha reached over with napkins in hand, dropping fabric after soaking fabric for damage control. And each paper was dropped, Pyrrha unleashed a torrent of the accursed word.

"Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!"

"I'll go grab more napkins!" Jaune exclaimed as he ran from table to table. Pyrrha blindingly continued to pull and place napkins as he left.

"Oh, wow." Pyrrha looked up from her task to find a second-year girl kissing Jaune.

"Nice~." And then a third year.

"Seriously?" Even Velvet gave a peck to Jaune's lips in exchange for a napkin box.

"I'm, uh, I'm back." Jaune said, blushing.

"You sure~?" Yang teased. "Maybe we need some more napkins?"

"NO!" Pyrrha slammed the table, spilling more juice. "S-Sorry."

"I'll give you my napkins if you give me a smooch. Whattaya say~?"

"U-Um..."

Pyrrha internally screamed.

the mess (we) made

summary: to escape a persistent suitor, diluc claims you're his betrothed, not knowing you've been in love with him for years.

warnings: mentions of marriage, fake engagement, unrequited love, negative self-talk (i think?)

disclaimer: inspired by the song "burn for you"; i've never seen bridgerton.

i. elaborate ruse

it was supposed to be a quiet business event.

earlier that week, when diluc had told you about it as he cleaned glass cups behind angel’s share counter, before the usual movement began to pick up, those were the words he had used himself. a quiet event, he’d said, so those who have interest in making business with the winery can attest the quality of our products themselves. there’d been quite a lot of prospective business partners lately, all from different regions, and while diluc would rather not be present, as head of the winery he’d been left no choice this time.

“would you like me to be there for moral support?” you had said, a joking tone to your words, but his reply caught you off guard.

“that’d be good.”

“...wait, really?”

“maybe not for moral support,” he’d given a small smile, “but it’d be good to have you there.”

and so, there you were.

from your place near elzer's desk, you watch as guests slowly trickle inside the manor, being welcomed by elzer and adelinde. standing by diluc side as he checks the guest list again, it’s hard to miss the way he winces. your eyes automatically go down to the paper he’s holding, noticing a particular name that may as well be spelled as "headache". you wince as well.

“aren’t you and her family already business partners?”

“we are,” he nods as he places the paper down on the table. “but she’s…persistent in pursuing a different business arrangement.”

“you mean the whole marriage thing?”

diluc schools his face into a neutral façade pretty quickly, but you’re used to him - being his best friend for years, it's easy for you to catch the way he suppresses a second wince; the displeased downturn of his mouth, the twitch of his eyebrow.

“you know, you could always use me as your escape goat.” the words fly out of your mouth before you can think them through. your blood turns into ice inside your veins.

diluc steps closer to you, arms crossed in front of his chest.

“... go on.”

“if she does show up,” you hesitate, keeping your eyes forward and cursing yourself all the while because why. why did you put yourself in this situation. this is a stupid idea why did you open your mouth– “i, well. you can tell her that it’s a flattering offer but unfortunately you must refuse because you’re already engaged."

you risk a glance at diluc only to find him staring at you, ruby eyes unreadable. a moment of silence passes between the two of you as he considers your offer, the quiet chatter of the guests almost inaudible compared to the anxious thundering of your heart.

"engaged to you."

you nod.

“alright,” he sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose, then rubbing his closed eyes with his index finger and thumb, “it’s worth a shot.”

“great! then it's settled.” you say, voice cracking slightly, making you hold back a grimace. you pat him in the back with one anxiously trembling hand, praying to whoever is listening that diluc doesn’t notice. “now you should go and mingle with your future business partners, since that’s the whole point of this thing you’ve got going on here. go on. shoo.”

you give him a gentle nudge forward, and he shoots you a concerned look, unmoving.

"you're sure you're comfortable with this?"

"of course," you can't hold back your smile, "i wouldn't suggest such a thing if i wasn't. i trust you."

when you nudge him again, he moves, only stopping once to look back at you with an exasperated but fond expression, red eyes shining in the warm light of the manor before he finally settles on doing his duty as a host. you feel the smile on your face waiver before it fades completely. inside, you’re screaming.

maybe she won’t show up at all, you try to reason with yourself. and even if she does, maybe diluc won’t actually have to resort to that. besides, what’s the worst that can happen? it’s not like diluc will find out about how you've been in love with him for years, right? this has nothing to do with that. you're just helping your best friend escape an unpleasant situation with an absurd ruse you came up with on the spot and that he, for some lapse of judgement, agreed to. it’s fine.

Actually, the more I look at it, the more it seems exactly the same... Didja do that on purpose?

Ibara: … Do you think it turned out this way by coincidence?

Hiyori: Dear me~ I was so looking forward to trying them, but now that I see the four of them sitting together like this, I can't quite bear to!

Nagisa: …Then, how about we eat one box together instead of having one box each?

Hiyori: A splendid idea as always, Nagisa-kun! Well then, I'll have this one for myself… ♪

Nagisa: … How does it taste? Is it the same as the one I ate before?

Ibara: Yes. Given that one has already been approved by Your Excellency, I believed it would be fine to proceed as-is.

Jun: Just when did you get to try a sample, Nagi-senpai? C'mon, Ibara, you gotta invite us for that kinda thing too.

But to think that even the box looks like something right out of a jewellery shop... That was thanks to them, was it?

Ibara: There were quite a lot of difficulties since my request was a bit sudden…

However, their expertise helped us produce both a chocolate and a container that are up to our standards… ♪

Jun: Whoa, how did you find the time for all that?

Ibara: It was quite hard work, you know. I had to make use of nearly every connection I have, including His Highness himself, all while doing everything I could to keep costs down…

I thought of how it would appeal to our fans, or even those who would only catch a single glimpse of us at Chocolat Fes.

It truly was hard work creating a product that will give people a strong urge to make a purchase.

Nagisa: … He said hard work twice.

Ibara: It was definitely hard work, but I didn't think of it as labour. There's no other way I can describe it.

The chocolate's quality turned out very high, so I ended up wanting to create a new unit visual to match the design…

I had to squeeze the photoshoot into everyone’s schedules too, so the hard work also extended towards all of you.

Jun: You went as far as to ask Ohii-san's help, and even wanted to do so much extra for it...

You seriously put your whole heart into this...

Hiyori: Right. Even for someone like Ibara, it must have been unbelievably hard work preparing everything to this extent.

I did find myself wondering if we'd actually manage to pull all this off.

It seems that this time around you were able to completely avoid it, but were you ever tempted to use COMP's budget for this?

Ibara: I made the decision to take total ownership of this project; it will be planned and implemented by me, for Eden.

There is significance to doing it with my own power. Plus, I couldn't accept it if I didn't. I also wished to convince you all by doing it this way.

Jun: …

Ibara: This is the sort of the victory that I seek.

Bringing Eden—and myself—to the top with my own two hands… was both my desire and ambition. I had already forgotten about that budget long ago.

Of course, I have every intention to make full use of the remaining COMP budget in the future! Ahahaha ⁠☆

Hiyori: Ah, what a shame. It would've sounded so good without that last part.

Nagisa: … But, you do agree that Ibara was a good kid right?

Jun: …Come to think of it, you take on so much by yourself all for the sake of Eden and our fans.

But even then, you say you don't consider it "labour".

Wouldn't you say that's your way of showing love, Ibara?

Ibara: …What was that?

Jun: L-O-V-E, love! You couldn't have achieved everything you've done without it... that's what I think.

Okay, I've watched the first episode of volume 7. This isn't a review or anything, but I'm just gonna put my general thoughts below the keep reading. Spoilers obviously and also RWBY criticism up ahead

So I think I'm gonna give this episode a 3 out of 10 ranking. It's... Worse than I had hoped, but it wasn't a complete flop and there's some stuff that I did like, so let's get into it.

Praise:

Ruby's voice acting is for the most part good. Her voice actor doesn't do so well on the gasping and crying, but as for the rest of it, I find it much improved and enjoy that Ruby is starting to sound a bit more mature, and more subdued. Her squeaky voice gets to be a little much, so I was pleasantly surprised at her performance.

In times of quiet, Little is cute. Some of how they're animated is charming, like when they sniffed at Ruby's hand or moved their little paws over their face. Of course Little looks the cutest when they're on four legs or are all curled up. But it really seems like the animators tried their best to make Little look as good as they could manage and it paid off. They're not Reepicheep from the Prince Caspian movie quality, but they get the job done.

I like that they had Ruby not ask Little about Weiss, because Ruby doesn't know yet that Weiss fell too.

I could be wrong, but I think this is the first time that a weapon that wasn't Ruby's was actually named in show. It's about ten years too late to make 'the weapons have names' a convincing part of the world of RWBY, but at least it's here at all, we now have a weapon other than Crescent Rose that fans might know the name of without doing online homework.

"Blake... I'm really glad you're okay." "...I'm really glad you are too." Am I so starved for closeness between these characters that I saw that and I was like "Monochrome? Monochrome in 2023? Do I ship post-volume-five-Blake with post-volume-five-Weiss?" Um, Blake's expression is so cute??

There might not be a lot that the animators can do to save that hair, but they're doing their darnedest with her facial expressions and it paid off.

I also kind of like Weiss shutting down stuff and trying to be more action focused instead of breaking down about everything, it seems like a good way to characterize her.

The voice of the new creeper Jabberwocky is good! It was so well done, super striking, it reminded me of the Cyclops in Epic the Musical the Concept Album which is a good thing. A very good job there.

Yang's voice acting is also good so far (though I dislike BDunks so it pains me to admit it.) The delivery of her 'dammit, you weren't supposed to be here' was well done and made me feel for Yang emotionally.

Blake coming up with plans and being a bit more optimistic - while not what I would choose for her character - is in line with the past couple of volumes and could be a good thing, and at this point is the best direction I think they could take with her character after how they've done her lately.

Criticism

First things first: Do you guys remember how I said that the first look we got awhile ago was jerky and seemed really off and Ruby's facial expressions were really lacking in much emotion, but that since it was a 'first look' it was likely an unfinished product and so I didn't wanna judge the finished product on it and said 'maybe it will change and get better?' ...Whelp it didn't. The first like seven minutes of this fifteen minute episode is all just the stuff from the first look.

So just to reiterate, I don't like first person POV stuff. I just think it never manages to look good and RWBY is no exception. They did their best with the combat I think, but idk, to me it just felt clunky and it looked bad. And Ruby's reaction to seemingly dying after her sister died, along with her friend Blake, and getting attacked midair by Neo, and then waking up on an island with giant shells is this

No grabbing her scroll to see if she can call anyone, no verbally calling for Blake or Yang, no immediate panicking or immediate reaction outside of :/ Okay. And her reaction to getting squawked at by a giant multicolored bird is

And look I know people are gonna be like "she's a trained huntress, you think she's gonna react to the presence of a bird?" And it's like... yes, actually, because as a trained fighter who fights giant birds, don't you think she should've jerked and reached for her (not there) weapon when there was squawking in her ear? And either way, most people even trained soldiers would at least glance at the thing suddenly making loud noises at them. And then Ruby goes from non-reaction to comedic grumbling as she finds herself in a loop, and then straight to tears, which is... Kind of hard to take seriously because of how things have been framed so far. It doesn't feel like Ruby is close to snapping and trying not to breakdown when she's crying, because she looked pretty emotionless three seconds ago and it comes right after a comedy bit about how a mouse watches Ruby struggle with a loop. And there's also zero urgency involved. Ruby felt more panicked in the scene in Volume 2 when Penny was pulling her away from guards during a time of peace. Ruby felt more sad and desperate when Weiss was being mean because Ruby was made a leader in volume 1, and when she was sad that Blake wasn't coming to the prom.

Also, I'm gonna point out that while I really like the fact that Ruby stopped her crying to help a mouse and it kind of cheered her up a little bit, I kind of think it throws off the messages of kindness that it's immediately followed by "if only you could help me." I don't think it doesn't make sense from a character point of view because she doesn't even know the mouse talks. But if the point of that is for us to see that Ruby is kind and selfless and goes out of her way to help with no expectations or strings attached, I think that the writers could've not had it followed up with Ruby expressing the desire for a return on her kindness. I think they could've easily had Little just be like 'Thanks!' and then offer to help her escape the loop or something. I just don't get that line, from a writing point of view.

I also think Little's voice and Little themself is annoying, which I've already gotten into, so I don't need to say it again. But the 'Little and the mice have identities based on 'what they do' and only then do they know who they are or even get names is... I'm gonna give it the benefit of the doubt that it won't be used to hammer in themes of identity and Ruby's role and job as a Huntress, you know, past this early already hammering it in, but... Yeah, let's hope from here on in, it isn't emphasized too much. Let's go for a little bit of subtlety.

Also please compare the scene with Little and Ruby to the movie Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe when Lucy meets Tumnas

You'll notice that Mr. Tumnas reacts to Lucy with every bit of confusion that she reacts to him, because he's never seen a human before the same way that she's never seen a faun. Little just acts like there's nothing weird at all about this thing that she's never once seen before, until Ruby starts screaming because Little spoke. And also Tumnas and Lucy both react with confusion and are startled that the other doesn't know what they are, but even Little who is seemingly very young and doesn't know yet that Ruby is from another world just takes it in their stride that Ruby doesn't know animals can talk without even a pause.

Also here's what I'm gonna say about the jokes about the mice and Blake being a faunus. First off, one of my medium case scenarios of 'pretty expected but still annoying' things has come true already

Two or more jokes about Blake being a cat Faunus (counting the one where Little is afraid when Ruby says Blake has cat ears)

And second off, how can they even tell she's a cat, for one. 'She has cat ears.' Yeah, they do resemble a cat. Does Blake have any other feature that even sort of resembles a cat? And her ears are easily missed at first sight. So why is it that the mice are like 'forgive us for trying to capture you and your friend, but you'll understand, we don't like cats.' Like why would they assume she's a cat? They don't know what faunus are or what human beings are, it'd be like someone seeing a fox and being like 'their ears are pointy like a cat they must be a cat' except even stupider because foxes at least walk on four legs and have fur over their body and are small-ish enough and have tails. And third off, what was this choice, from a writer angle. Blake is a member of a marginalized minority group and it's bad to treat her like an animal, but the writers write a story where 'cute' little mice assume she's a cat or freak out at the mention of her faunus traits, and also none of the mains seem that uncomfortable about it? Ruby is just like 'I shouldn't have mentioned Blake's faunus traits, I've seen cartoons, so I should know that cats and mice don't get along' (insert audience laughter here.) And when the mouse is like 'you understand we don't get along with cats' Blake is just like "yeah it's fine" instead of saying something like "I'm not a cat" or "just so you know I don't like being treated like a cat" and she doesn't even like, look vaguely uncomfortable? It's just weird. It feels like the writers just don't want to engage with Blake being a Faunus in any sort of significant way at all and instead just make jokes about it all the time.

Blake and Weiss's reunion getting completely skipped over and Ruby's reunion with them getting side-stepped is dumb and annoying. I mean I already know that the writers don't care much about their dynamics with each other these last couple seasons, except for an obligatory 'they're friends' here and there and a couple shallow conversations maybe, but it's just frustrating. We don't get to see Blake upset that Weiss fell, or Ruby upset that Weiss fell, or them hugging or anything. "It happened off screen!" That's part of the problem, I don't want emotional moments that will increase my belief in friendships and my interest in dynamics to happen off screen, I want to actually see them.

Weiss and Blake not being able to reach Blake's weapon doesn't make sense. Look, I know Blake doesn't have her weapon and Weiss is low on dust, but they're basically superheroes who have always hopped and jumped around with little effort in the past. Like, we're talking about these kids, right?

Also, Weiss has fundamentally changed as a character because her being a cheerleader and going 'woo, yeah!' while jumping in the air with a big beaming grin on her face made sense to me and I'm honestly sad about it. People can say whatever they want about 'character growth' or whatever, but I liked the idea of Weiss being not Nora 2.0 thanks. I already had Nora, I already had Ruby, I already had Little, I already had Neon Katt, I don't need Weiss to be the same type of character who would do that kind of thing. Other people liked cheerleader Weiss and good for them, but I didn't like it.

The design and movement of the Jabberwocky thing is - imo - overrated. It didn't really seem very creepy to me, or very interesting aesthetically. Also, I'm sorry, but the first 'fight' of the season is Blake swinging her blade at something, Weiss getting ready to fight, and then Yang hurling a rock at the monster, and then that's it? That was such a let down.

Ruby at Yang: "If you thought we wouldn't come for you, then you must've forgotten who raised me." Me: "What does this have to do with Tai? Oh, does she mean Qrow, since Qrow was in the habit of following them and saving them - Ohhh she means Yang!" Tbh, this line would've been so much more emotional if that had ever seemed to impact their relationship with each other or Tai or Qrow, instead of Tai seeming like a great and loving father and Ruby clearly modeling herself after Qrow and the writers being like 'omg isn't Ruby so connected to Summer' in seasons seven and eight. I honestly forget that it's even part of their story, because Ruby never talks about or acts like she had a neglectful father, Yang doesn't fill a maternal role for her, Ruby has a perfectly fine good relationship with Tai... It just could've been treated more significantly, and as it is, it doesn't feel emotional to me because of how little they've done with it. No, not everything needs to be gone into and explored (though after ten years, ehhh,) but it just makes lines like this fall flat when they aren't.

Also, Ruby at Yang: "If you thought we wouldn't come for you, then you must've' forgotten who raised me." Me: "None of them came for Yang, they were thrown in. None of them tried to jump in, they all fell in while they were trying not to. None of them even said something like 'to be honest I'm glad we're here, so Yang won't be alone' or something." This line would've been more impactful if Ruby at the very least had a chance to get through to Vacuo and chose to jump down instead, and especially if they had actually fought back Cinder enough to have a conversation and decide to go in after Yang. As it is, Yang is like "you weren't supposed to be here" and Ruby kind of leads her to believe that they came in after her on purpose, which just isn't true. Also, I feel like that would've been more impactful if Yang had protested it, like Yang thought she was dead and Ruby essentially tells her "you should've known I'd follow you to my death." Yang should be like "No, Ruby, that's messed up! You don't have to risk your life just because I happened to go down! We're Hunters, but if one of us dies, the rest of us can't just up and die too!"

Also, last thing I'm gonna say about this, I swear, but as Ruby and co are set up as leaders and saviors of the world on a quest to save the world, it kind of feels... Irresponsible, to have the mentality of 'if one of us gets into a horrible bad situation the others will too it's all of us or none of us!" Because they have a bigger responsibility than that. It's very in character and it makes sense and is very sympathetic and could be done well, but it isn't necessarily a good mentality to have, so I hope that's not just treated like a good given.

The bees reunion was lackluster tbh, but what else was I supposed to expect at this point? I hope this is the last time I hear the term 'beeunion' from here on in. It's gotten old. At least we got to see it though.

Also, someone else pointed this out, but them not showing Weiss's face and just having her kind of quip at Yang and then the next second already be in tears felt lackluster too when we could've watched her face fall as she struggles to hold back tears. And the tone problems for this episode are really off the charts. Instead of letting this be a completely serious moment, it's like "Yang is sad that Ruby and the others are in her mind, dead - Omg guys isn't Little so funny and quirky lol talking mouse! - Awww what a sweet soft moment between Yang and Blake - Weiss is crying! She's recounting the traumatic experience from the last volume!

And I'm sorry, I know I might be in the minority on this even in rwde circles, but I did not like Ruby fainting. First of all, because the set up to Ruby fainting is not super great. She's comedically frustrated by being in a loop, now she's crying but not for long, now she has a little friend who is making her happier, now she's reacting to the wacky hijinks of the mice, now she's seriously asking what happened but with zero urgency, now she's kind of happy to see Yang and trying to encourage her, now she's FAINTING! This, coupled with the fact that she, Weiss, and Blake arguably got a lot more rest than anybody else in the last volume except for like Whitley makes this reaction not super convincing to me - especially since Ruby's reaction to Penny being alive was so lackluster. I suppose it makes sense from a character standpoint that even though she didn't seem particularly happy to see Penny when she got resurrected, she did try really hard to save her and hasn't responded well to hard situations in volumes, so yeah hearing that someone she tried to save just died anyway might make Ruby the character faint I guess. But again, the emotional weight of it wasn't there for me as a viewer. Especially because Ruby fainting and then us cutting to her waking up was a convenient way for the writers to skip over 1. anyone else reacting to the news about Penny's death 2. anyone comforting Weiss. 3. Weiss pulling herself together. 4. Actually recounting what happened. It just felt like a way for them to be like "actually it doesn't matter, don't worry about that." They instantly move on.

"Clearly they're gonna come back to it!" Okay, cool, but that doesn't mean it isn't annoying to me that it got shuffled to the side now. There was just no real emotional weight to the moment for me.

Blake being the one to say "we're in a fairytale" makes sense since - outside of Ruby - she's the one that actually knows fairy tales, but it is a little weird to me. If I fell off a magical bridge and landed in some weird strange place, I would come to a lot of conclusions before I was like "what if we're in books written for children?" Even if it looked like it. I don't know. Maybe it works because of how fairy tales are framed as 'ringing with truths' in RWBY, but even then, I feel like the more realistic not-made-for-a-trailer line would be like "I read about a place like this in a fairy tale" or "this reminds me of a fairy tale" or "this seems like the place a fairy tale I know was based off of." They're not - as far as they or we know - "in a fairy tale" the way people get read into Inkheart the book in the book Inkheart, they're just in a place that fairy tales might potentially be based off of. Just a weird line imo.

Anyway, those were my thoughts about the new ep.

ALRIGHT let's go with Sunstone and Moonstone!!

This is the best recent art I have of them AKSDNJKNS 😔

SO!! They're the fusion counterparts of my main gemsona, Labradorite. As you can tell, they're heavily Ruby and Sapphire based.

The two used to be under Blue Diamond's court, Sunstone as a fierce guardian Gem being assigned to Moonstone as his personal guard, with Moonstone as a noble Gem who onlooked Gem production quality.

They rarely ever spoke with each other at first, until Sunstone managed to strike up a conversation with Moonstone that ended very well! Thus blossomed their relationship.

Sunstone and Moonstone got closer over time, with Sunstone being the first to see Moonstone be more open with his feelings. Then, one day, Labradorite came to be.

Sunstone and Moonstone kept Labradorite a secret, and they were good at hiding it, up until they got caught fusing in a Kindergarten. After that, the two fled to Earth to escape punishment from Homeworld, and since then, the two stayed together as Labradorite, their love for each other only getting stronger.

Normally I’m not terribly picky about the quality especially if I get them on a deep clearance price. I also make them for myself and I have yet to build the confidence to sell them so I’ve okay when they are a bit stained. But oooohhhh man, this one was, by far, the worst I’ve ever had with a store bought doll.

So that being said, I’m so sorry Ruby (from the winter series), you didn’t deserve this….

First the stained head. I’m guessing it could have come from her hat and if so, I’m going to wash the heck out of it so it won’t stain any other doll. Otherwise, no clue how that could have happened….

Um…the legs. How….just how? I’m genuinely curious. Especially the foot. Blue stained?

Then the arm. Looks like something hot landed on her arm from possibly a machine in production.

And lastly the difference in colour with each segments to her legs. Same with her arms but I didn’t take pictures of it.

Again, I’m not complaining, it’s just a wee rant. I understand MGA doesn’t have the best reputation for quality, and I’ve had a few blips in other dolls, but this one is, by far, my biggest “wow I’mma sharing” moment. 😅

I’m sorry Ruby you probably didn’t have a great ride in production.

BACKSTORY

Clare had an extremely difficult childhood, filled with negligence, physical and verbal abuse. Her mother, Elise, was not particularly interested in raising children since she only had them for one purpose : to trap a wealthy man. She was a gold digger, a woman only interested in what a man can provide. Clare was her first “attempt to get a gold American Express”. However, Patric Archer died when Clare was four, so the torment began immediately after that event, since Elise had no ‘use’ from the child no more. Elise would often punish Clare by hand and word, reminding her of how ‘useless’ she is, giving her best to make the child develop the feeling of being unwanted and unloved.

Forced to learn how to take care of herself from a young age, she was constantly been fed lies from the people around her. While alive, her biological father was a man who pretended to be interested for the show and others around him not to judge him, breaking promises left and right, and sometimes even forgetting Clare’s name, calling her Carla, Catty...After his death, Elise re-married 2 more times, having two more children, Clare’s stepsisters Mel and Veronica, true daughters of her mother as they decided to follow in her footsteps, unlike Clare.

She was disgusted with the concept of being a gold digger and a mindless toy for money, and her love and interest in complicated topics and dark content made her a black sheep in that family, so much that they openly hated her and casually locked her out side of the house, even when she was only 10. But she did not let them get to her, instead, she trained herself for years to shut down emotionally. The breaking point was when her mother took her to see her fathers grave at the age of 6 on Clare’s request, but the problem was that she left her there and it was just getting dark, telling Clare that she can do her a favor and just lay in to a empty grave that was next to her father’s.She quickly developed the belief that gentile, love, affection = lies, and similar things are used as tools of manipulation, to get others to do your bidding or making them just useful for your needs.

Perfecting her craft of giving the people the impression she is a heartless monster with nothing but contempt in her, she built her walls high to protect the pieces of sanity she has left along with her fragile heart. She gazed upon humanity with disgust in general, seeing only the selfish being and lying individuals. Beside her plans and childhood, Clare was always a feisty one. Filled with energy and adrenaline. That is why she trained athletics and martial arts, to get the energy out, and built physical endurance plus be sure she can smite down anyone who stands in her way. She ‘takes shit’ from no one,and even though she will not get physical right away, her sharp tongue will not hesitate to tell you things packed in a nice sarcastic dark humor that will bring you down from your high horse.

Clare is a product of her sinister path, and the pain molded her distrust towards others, along with phobias of affection. However, she is extremely helpful and will not hesitate save someone, however her good did will be masked with her aggressive behavior, to make sure the heart is safely hidden away. The path to her ‘blood pump’ is thorny, but whoever manages to see through all of that, will gain the most loyal, loving and devoted person.

In her collage days, she did manage to get two friends that find her amusing and are not bothered with her flaming temper. Alice and Jake, who stick by her no matter how bad things are. But still, somehow Clare did not show her special good side even to them.

Spoiler-Free Reactions to the RWBY:IQ Premiere! (Part 1)

Gonna talk about something fun for a change~

So as many of you may or may not know, the first three episodes of RWBY: Ice Queendom were released early on select platforms just the other day. I...have no idea why this was done, and in all honesty I think just one early episode would have been enough (maybe these first three really are that unimportant to the rest of the story. Who knows)

Anywhom, I was really tired after work today and I didn’t feel like moving, and considering all the RWBY channels I frequent on YouTube the site is quickly becoming a spoiler minefield, so I decided to just go ahead and watch the episodes tonight. ^^ And without further ado, here are my spoiler-free thoughts on Episode 1!

Overall grade: B. Not great, but not bad. The pacing is very awkward, but when they finally decide to just focus on one scene without interruption, they do a good job.

Animation is a bit...mmm...overall it’s good, there’s no doubt about the technical quality. But I think the way they tried to re-interpret some of the characters’ movements in the Black and White trailers is definitely inferior to what we originally got. The Black Trailer in particular got the short end of the stick-- not only do we not get to see much of it, but Blake’s fighting style just does not look as cool anymore. :/ And the way they decided Gambol Shroud’s ribbon should work is just objectively goofy. XD Like, whyyyyy

Personally, I think Ruby’s fight (the one we got a preview of in the first IQ trailer) was the best. Lived up to and surpassed expectations despite the short length; AAAA+++ work. ^^

The Black Rock Shooter cameo was so cute~

I’mma be honest with you guys-- it’s looking like Yang’s gonna get sidelined again. I hope she won’t; I’ve seen some spoilery statements that have convinced me to wait before I judge, but...as of right now it’s lookin’ like she doesn’t have much to do. :T Fingers crossed

I love how they made an effort to briefly flesh out Team RWBY’s family members and give them meaningful screentime. ^^ I think that was this episode’s biggest strength, and a step in the right direction. The girls’ backgrounds actually feel...important; there’s a sense of community now that we didn’t get in the original series, especially with Ruby and Yang. THEY THINK AND TALK ABOUT EACH OTHER EVEN WHEN ONE OF THEM ISN’T AROUND! THEY FEEL LIKE ACTUAL SISTERS!! ...Man, the bar is low, ain’t it

Weiss is so sweet and polite, omg...can’t wait to see how that changes once she gets to school...^^;;;

I really can’t deal with Oz looking so neat and clean; it creeps me out. o_O Please bring back his bed-hair

Adam is here, hooray! :D At least one of my precious boys is gonna be in this series (1 down, 2 more to go)! ...Despite that, I don’t think Adam was very impressive in this first episode. ^^; To the point where I feel like talking too much about him would be spoilery, because he just...expectations were not met, okay

I had a feeling early on that production on this anime was a little rushed (I’m not sure why, but I did) and looking at it now...I feel like I see what I was afraid of. ^^; Again, it’s not bad, but it also feels very...economical. Like, only certain parts of the episode are really allowed that attention to detail, and other parts just have to struggle by on what’s left of the budget. Basically, anyone who wants to hate on this anime will have plenty to make fun of in Episode 1 alone. ^^; I just hope that this is due to Eps 1-3 being low-priority recap episodes, and not indicative of the quality of the series as a whole. Although, even if it is, all is not lost. For those of you who are new to anime-- anime series often have clean-up work done for the Blu-Ray re-releases after the initial broadcast run. So even if IQ looks a little jank right now, it can still get polished up later on.
