Quinto!Gore vs Edwards!Gore - Best of Enemies (2021-2023)
(Please note that I'm not trying to start a debate as to who is the better Gore. Both Gores work in their own ways, I just found it fascinating how much they differ between productions, from stage direction to acting style. Argue in the comments if you must.)
Tonight I went to see Best Of Enemies and, as someone with considerable experience of the media and the part it has, does and will undoubtedly continue to play in politics and opinion, I was really impressed by this production and in particular its two stars, David and Zachary.
I found this play to be one that is particularly relevant in this day and age, given how TV obsessed we as a society seem to be and the power of the media in and on so many aspects of life. It certainly made me think about how much of what I believe is my own opinion is perhaps influenced by the views and thoughts of media outlets and television as a whole, as well as how much opinion, need it be on a subject or an individual, can be fuelled by our own wants, ideas and desires and the influence of others.
I feel really pleased and lucky to have seen so many great shows this year. Looking forward to seeing even more in the new year (including what will be my first visit to New York and seeing some shows on Broadway!)
"I do take a good, little choking - tossed against a wall. And I mean, come on, how many times have I done that (*laughing*) in my career." - Linda Hamilton aka General McCallister in Resident Alien
This was from the latest BTS video for the recent episode.
Also, the alien baby is an animatronic which surprised me as I assumed they would just do normal puppetry and cgi out any control rods moving the limbs and head.
And the Ancient Aliens guy was supposed to run away due to all the gun fire after Harry's "Hey! I know you!" moment. But he told them he wouldn't run away as he would have so many questions for Harry. So they changed up the scene with Harry having to encourage him to run away and save himself.
Play about Buckley vs Vidal TV debate with Zachary Quinto as Vidal....ok! They are making plays about literally anything these days. Also the one with mark gatiss about Gielgud vs Richard Burton while doing Hamlet....like all very interesting .......
