My BroZone Human Designs (+ Some Explanations!)
My post with my human AU!
Tumblr media
Their father was black while their mom was Hispanic. Obviously, Floyd ended up being the lightest of them and takes after their mom the most
They all know varying degrees of Spanish
Though they would change up their hairstyles sometimes during the performance, JD insisted they look as similar as they could since fans liked it, so they had "iconic" styles for the group. Those with 4c hair had high tops while Bruce and Floyd took this half-part style
Tumblr media
Age: 41
Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish
He ended up becoming the shortest of his brothers and it bothers him every day
You can hear his flip-flops flopping from a mile away and it drives Branch crazy
I think his hair got darker cause he tried to dye his hair after he found a few white hairs and ended up going too dark with it, but he kept it
Kept his high-top for sentimental reasons
Looks the most like their dad
OCD haver #1
Tumblr media
Age: 39
Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish, learning Portuguese (Brandy is Brazilian to me <3)
Hairy chest cause brandy likes it
Teaching all his kids Spanish he is not letting them forget their heritage
Usually was the one helping their grandma in the kitchen after their parents' death but was also interested in it before. Most of the recipes he makes now are still ones that are from his childhood
Also master mixologist... for trolls sized drinks. He tried to make drinks for island goers before, but turns out that making a drink that is basically twice your size is hard and inefficient, so he taught Brandy how to make them!
Tumblr media
Age 36
Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish. Learned French and Chinese as a hobby
Spoke to Viva in Spanish a LOT, especially during rough times when she was stressed and would start just rambling in Spanish. If it wasn't for her, he wouldn't be so fluent
When they were younger, people thought he was younger than Floyd because he was so tiny, but then he became the tallest
His hair got stained green while at the gold course, but once they left it he kept dying it green
Tumblr media
Age: 33
Languages: Fluent in English and Korean (Don't... don't ask), knows some Hindi, knows VERY little Spanish
JD was devastated to hear that Floyd had forgotten 90% of his Spanish
He had spent a few years with the rock trolls and was best friends with Barb for a while, that's where he learned Hindi (I headcanon her as Indian). When she was a teenager she also gave him an awful stick-and-poke on his back, not even Floyds brothers know about it
Went gray for a while in between leaving Brozone and joining the punk trolls, but I don't have a theory as to why yet
When they were younger, Floyd would straighten his hair in order to look more like Bruce in order for them to match. Bruce hated this but couldn't stop Floyd from doing it. Floyd is embarrassed by how poorly he straightened it before.
Very nice and/or low-tempered to most people, but he is ruthless when it comes to JD. Branch has heard Floyd yell the worst insults known to man to JD after being picked on by him, but it's their little way of communicating with each other and is, usually, affectionate. It's a cycle at this point. JD makes fun of Floyd, Floyd gets "pissed," then JD does it again cause he thinks it's funny
Tumblr media
Age: 21
Languages: Fluent in English, knows very little Korean and the most basic Spanish ever
JD was also devastated to hear about Branch not speaking Spanish
Doesn't remember shit about their parents. Every time his brothers reminisce on them he just stands there, confused
Also kept his high top for sentimental reasons, but after TBT he started experimenting a bit more
OCD haver #2

visual novels : the best form of escapism
(after books, ofc)
One of my friends made me play "Our Life: Beginnings & Always" last summer and I have no regrets. I have played through the whole goddamn thing 3 times over from then til now, and got married to Cove, three times over.
This probably isn't healthy. Will I play it a 4th time? yes I will.
I literally refuse to be mean in that game. I refuse. I don't want to hurt any of their fictional feelings WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME.
Am I using this game to substitute real life intimacy that I don't receive from my loved ones? (is that my fault or...? I should really check that out) Probably.
No, but seriously, it's awesome. As a closeted queer kid ("queer" in the reclaimed sense), it's the dream to be able to be who you want to be (from skin colour to name to style to hair) and exist with parents and family who love you for who you are. The 4C hairstyle rep made me want to CRY the first time I saw it. One of the times I played, I transitioned in Step 4 (bonding moment with my guy Terry, that was a lovely little detail) and everyone just got it like, pronouns, gendered terms, everything. Literally the dream.
Low initiative setting for Cove tho. Just needed to put that there
I feel like I understand better what sort of intimacy I'd like in friendships and possible relationships, which is always a plus. A good friendship just makes my soul wanna leave my body (in a good way)
Also, voiced names.
Voiced names.
Had to put that there too.
Anyone who's played the Derek DLC/Baxter DLC, would you recommend??? I'm thinking that once my exams are over, I'm going to get on that :)
Any recs for visual novels would also be welcome!
[I heard Under Maintenance is good, I've also played Error143 and did enjoy it (a lot) but I heard there had been some drama to do with it?? I don't have twitter, and I'm not so sure I wanna know...?]
Thanks for reading :)

Does Johhny know how to braid hair? What would come out if his partner would sit between his legs and wanted him to braid her hair? Would the hairstyle come out well or would it be a total disaster?
You know what, I think Johnny DOES know how to braid hair. Big family, at least one sister, a Mum who needed an extra hand whenever she could get it—and who wouldn’t stand for any nonsense about keeping him away from anything “girly.”
There is a learning curve for him, however, if your hair is especially textured; anything 3b-4c he’s going to have trouble with, simply because he’s not used to it. Which isn’t to say he won’t figure it out! He’ll even search for tutorials on YouTube about it. (He’ll be really reluctant about actually pulling and tugging on your hair though. He’s worried sick about it hurting. So he probably isn’t the best man to go to for box braids and such lmao)
Regardless of your texture, though, Johnny playing with your hair is nearly a religious experience. He brushes or combs it gently and lovingly, sections it out with tender fingers, runs his hands over it just to appreciate how it feels against his palms. It’s the kind of touch that has you melting, head lolling to the side against his knee, as every muscle in you relaxes into him. He’ll probably end up brushing your hair for longer than necessary, but how can he help it when you’re enjoying yourself so much? He just wants to take care of you, you know? It’s something that he can do for you to make you feel loved.

✨self - care tips from a licensed hairstylist! ✨
alot of us 3d friends turn to self care in order to bring us some sort of relaxation and comfort. so heres some good ways to take care of yourself and specifically your hair!
- take your vitamins! very important to keep your hair on your head
- using the heatless method for curls or waves! it looks nice, protects your hair from heat damage, and it takes some time to do so its a great distraction
- rinsing your hair with cool water! i dont recommend a cold shower but rinsing out your conditioner with cool water helps seal the cuticle layer of the hair and protect it from split ends
- drying your hair with a cotton tshirt! using normal bath towels can cause friction in your hair that leads to frizz and breakage. using a cotton tshirt instead is much healthier
- wearing a silk bonnet or using a silk pillowcase! bonnets arent just for curly texture, theyre for everyone! holds in your natural oils better resulting in shiny, strong hair. also, creates less friction while youre sleeping so less breakage!
- leave in conditioners, heat protectants, oils are your best friend! trust me, your hair will thank you
- "protective hairstyles and you!" if you have straight, fine hair, keeping a low ponytail or a loose messy bun instead of a high pony or tight french braids will prevent traction alopecia (your hair coming out from wearing a tight hairstyle). if you have thick, curly hair (3a-4c) protective hairstyles like braids or locs will protect your curls from the environment and lock in that much needed moisture from your scalp or any products you use.

The Shadowheart you got her is so robust. Fresh of breath air! It got me even swooning for Asheera sometimes (but Shadowheart my no.1)
Does Shadowheart ever have to re-dye her hair? Or was it always like that and she dyed it black like the Sharran poser she is? Does Asheera have dyed hair? Wait what what is Asheera's hair texture? I've read black and braided? 4c?
Shadowheart actually is bests woman if you do the math. Like what do you mean your ride and die for the Shaharans? You can't even hurt the Scratch? Remember Scratch? Omg haha! Then she like accepts her cottage core nature the burgeoning wine mom with in her the live laugh love is actually in her DNa I checed
Mhm
She wears ferrts as scarves. but In the ALIVE WAY. Obviously she loves animals and she also also! She loves her wife <3 Love that part in the fic BTW! When they love each other love that.
You get what I mean? Yeah you get it!
Love Shadowheart :)
Love Shadowheart indeed. I left this ask in my inbox for a while (sorry anon) and I needed something so desperately joyous right now, so thank you anon 💜
This whole ask gives me the same vibes as that wine-drunk friend that everyone loves being around.
And no, Asheera doesn't have dyed hair. Black with light streaks here and there of blue from when Gond granted her a divine transition. Asheera has somewhat coarse hair, and she wears it in a single fishtail braid. None of the in-game hairstyles really fit her super well, but I haven't looked up any hair cosmetic mods.
Shadowheart's natural hair is almost certainly black!

Wowee. Hair is so annoying to draw ! :]
Man, I know right :')
Dw, I'm picking up what you're putting down. Tutorial under the cut
Tumblr media
Ok so first get yourself a head to draw some hair on. Hair comes in many forms, and I can't make a tutorial for all of them, so I'm just gonna draw the curly hair I use most often and try to explain the basics from there.
Tumblr media
Boom, hair. Remember that hair follows gravity, so its always going to bunch up more near the bottom if it isn't pinned up in some ways. However, curly hair resists this. Think of it like a scale from thin-straight hair to a 4C hairstyle
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1A hair goes straight down, while 4C hair keeps its shape. Depending on what style your going for, the heir you're drawing will probably fall somewhere between these two. (also, if your lost, use references! They are lifesavers!!)
All this is good to know because knowing which way the hair is falling is really important in making it look natural, so keep that in mind!
Tumblr media
Something I like to add on as a struggling Florida kid with curly hair, give it some flyaways! Curly hair gets frizzy, especially in humid weather. Adding individual strands outside of the hair's main "shape" can also make it seem more like hair and less like a helmet, which is something I used to struggle with a lot.
Tumblr media
Next, add some bangs. This is pretty self-explanatory, but bangs can come in many shapes and sizes, so remember that when in doubt, references are your best friend!
Tumblr media
Next, erase the forehead, and draw some lines to fill up the space. This is where knowing how the hair falls becomes really important. Think of the hair like a river or waterfall. These extra lines help the viewer tell where the water starts and ends. (idk if that makes sense but it's how I think of it sometimes :') sry)
After that, color! Lets be interesting and make this fellow a ginger
Tumblr media
Just a note, but do NOT make this base color the color you want the hair to be. This is going your be you highlight color.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(First one is the color I just used, second is what the hair's final color will be)
Then, find a soft brush. I wish I could tell you guys what brush I use specifically but I'm ngl the brush I use is literally called NO NAME soooooo ...
Here's a picture of the brushes properties and what it looks like because idk what this is called
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ANYWAYS, use a soft brush like this one to start carving out the highlight in the hair
Tumblr media
It should look a bit like that. Sorry if it's really hard to see, the difference between the two colors is meant to be p small. You just want to keep the middle of the strand the lighter color so it stays a highlight.
Tumblr media
And this is what it should look like when you're done! I'm still no expert on these sorts of things, but I hope this helped!

Making Hair Gel unfamiliar. -Shamiya Cotiere
History:
Tumblr media
There's always a story about a specific item or person which exists but there's only so much that we are familiar with. The original narrative of what's already been discovered about hair gel is that it starts in Africa with ancient Egyptians in 3500 B.C. There are records of mummies having fat-based gel in their hair upon discovery of their tombs. Gel has been used throughout history since then to style and keep hair styled over long periods of time. The Analysis of hair fibers identifies the popularity of a fat-based hair styling gel that was used to keep hair in place in both life and death. Most gels were made from tree sap or animal fat, which is very different from gels made today. This isn't surprising because Egyptians are well known for setting the blueprint and having a big role in the creation and advancement of civilization. As well as, cosmetology products and habits that we still use today. It was invented for hair utility and fashion almost a century ago. The different types of styles have changed over the years due to trends and fashion statements . The main purpose for hair gels has never changed, and it keeps gaining popularity with the diverse range of types of hold and catering to different types of hair types, from coarse & thick, specialized formulas on color-treated hair, and the list goes on. Also mentioning the main types of hair gels used today range from gels, liquid spray, pomades, wax, creams and serums--all using oil, wax, or petrolatum to give it a sleek and easily styled appearance, and all containing different amounts of from mild- to strong-hold.
Before hair gel was more developed and being popular,  men before would use other substances such as petroleum jelly, corn oil and macassar oil. In Birmingham, England, in 1929, a company called “Chemico Works'' decided to market a product called “Brylcreem” in 1928. Chemico Works was known for creating strong kitchen and household cleaners. It was also used to keep combed hair in place. It was the first hair gel on the consumer's market. The appeal behind it was that the consumer puts a little of the product between his palms, rubs them together, and you can style your hair however desired. Purpose was for the gel to comb the strands of hair in place. While the end resulted with a clean shiny appearance. Hair gel became more popular in the 1980s when stiffer hair styles came into play. After gaining popularity throughout England and Europe, it moved to North America and quickly spread as a fashionable product for hair styling. Men and women used it, and Chemico Works developed different types of hair gels specific for genders. Over the years, other companies started for the purpose of selling hair products to the majority, and the market evolved to what it currently is today.

Where was your item made or manufactured?
Tumblr media
Depending on the gel brand it can be manufactured from a range of different places throughout the world. To be more specific, in my case I'll be focusing on the brand “Eco style gel”. This gel was manufactured by Ecoco and they have over 10 brands of gel in their range. This hair styler is manufactured in the USA and it has a dimension of 3.74 x 3.74 x 3.94 inches. With 1.04 pounds of weight, it feels very weightless. Water (aqua), Carbomer and Hydrolyzed wheat protein with Glycerin and many mare items have been used as the manufacturing ingredients of this hair styler. The ingredients this gel also contains is  100% pure Olive oil. Water (Aqua), Hydrogen, Amino-2, Wheat protein, and fragrance.

In the 1920s, hair gel was originally constructed by an emulsion of water and mineral oil, and thickened with a type of wax, such as beeswax. Currently, hair gel also consists of different fragrances, calcium hydroxide, magnesium sulfate, stearic acid and BHT. Cationic polymers are the main component of hair gels, as the polymer's positive charge causes it to stretch and make the gel more flexible and useful. As you can see how some of the materials have stayed consistent and also have improved over time due to the technology and research with the ingredients and different hair types.

What impact does the item have on your life?
Tumblr media
The impact gel has in my day-to-day life is extremely important within every hair style. It holds the style together whether the style is a lace front, braids, natural hair (defining curls) or just simply styling my baby hairs. The Eco professional styler gel with black castor and flaxseed oil (the one I specifically use). This premium gel has the ingredients for making healthy and strong hair. The black castor oil has vitamin E, and fiber to provide proper nourishment and growth to my hair.
Who are the people directly involved with making or manufacturing this item? What's life for them?
Tumblr media
The people who are involved in making this styling product are factory workers. They help put the product together step by step. First, gathering all the ingredients they need which involves detailed preparation, timing and measurements. Not to mention, the other workers who make and do the packaging and labeling. Also, the workers who are in charge of the delivery shipment to other stores, factories and places throughout the country. According to Glassdoor the review on working conditions at the Ecoco company is an overall 1.7/5-star rating which categorize in: Culture & Values, Diversity & Inclusion, Work/Life Balance, Senior Management, Compensation and Benefits.

Within the reviews former employee(s) had stated ..“It's dysfunctional. The owner was so belligerent to me. I also witnessed verbal attacks on MANY others. In my opinion, the owner is a joke. What he's doing appears to be legal but lacks any moral or ethical basis.”- Former employee within the marketing department. An employee who currently works there has remarked that, “ Ecoco is a friendly and organized workplace. I’ve been working here almost three years, and I’m really enjoying it. Also, Ecoco has a diverse environment. It’s a great opportunity that you can learn from.” Another employee had stated. “"if you want low pay, stress 24/7 and lack of motivation every work day, then this company is right for you. They lie constantly Not understanding how the family is run by the family and the family doesn't know how to run the business. They fire people constantly, sometimes without write ups or warnings They play favorites They are not understanding people. I've been offended multiple times. HR is brainwashed.”- Former designer employee. Lastly another employee who had worked there in Nov 2019 has also mentioned, “I worked for the company when they hired a consultant to coerce "positive" reviews from employees. Don't believe a single good review here. The owner is an abusive, racist, misogynist whose inept children were recently put in charge of the brands. The pay is poor, the office culture is miserable, and the 'management' is delusional, unprofessional and entitled. In 15 years in marketing/advertising, it is the worst job I have ever worked. I was asked things ranging from amoral to illegal. Nothing about this company is worth anyone's time and they will probably be out of business in another 5 years.” With reviewing these remarks, it's upsetting to see how the company's workers feel and are treated. There's a constant pattern of referencing the company work ethic as unprofessional and they wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's looking for a job.
Working at Ecoco | Glassdoor
How did it make its way into your home?
The way it has entered my home is through the idea of consumption (the buying decision process). I went to a beauty hair supply store which holds a wide variety of different styling products. On my way to the store, I used to drive my car as a form of transportation. I had a desire to restock on my hair styling products which was my reason to shop. While being in the store, I had my mind made up already of which product I was looking for and the certain brand I normally use. When I was all done browsing throughout the store I had checked out and the cost of the Eco styling gel was $4.99. That price was okay with me because that is the normal range for gel in today's world. After I had checked out by using apple pay (form of payment); I had driven back and placed it in my dorm. The styling product was useful for me because I use it daily and it has met my expectations.

What kind of impact has this object had on other people’s lives?
Tumblr media
This styling product has the same effect for them that it does for me. It also depends on their hair type on how much they use it and how frequently. It doesn’t matter if you’re starting out with wavy, curly, or coily tresses, this gel helps emphasize your original curl pattern.
Within black culture it's normalized to see some type of gel in the bathroom cabinets, it's always a go to product to have nearby. You may also find a travel size in the car for on the go or for emergencies. Especially provides curl definition on different hair textures and helps hold hair in place. Not to mention, within the black community gel is a key component of maintaining any type of hair styles especially during our childhood. Hairstyles including natural hair updos like two buns, braids, twist, styling baby hairs, slick backs, retwists, cornrows and the list goes on. This styling product has and will continue to help influence other hair styles within Black culture.
