Wait: Next Year’s Apple Watch Revealed 5 Exciting Upgrades!
Tumblr media
Apple Watch Advanced Technology
Given the numerous current discounts on Apple products, you may be considering either purchasing an Apple Watch for the first time or updating your current model. Waiting till Apple releases its newest and best smartwatch model next year can be worthwhile if your present one is functioning perfectly and the only thing grabbing your attention is the thought of a good deal.
2024 appears to be shaping up to be a very significant year for the Watch, according to a number of credible speculations already. These five arguments will convince you to wait for the next generation model and hang onto your dollars for the meantime.
Significant Redecoration
It has been ten years since the launch of Apple’s first wearable device, the original Apple Watch, which debuted in April 2015. It’s widely speculated that a significant 10-year anniversary update may come as early as 2024, given the impending historic anniversary.
Timing a significant overhaul for the Apple Watch to mark its tenth anniversary is Apple’s intention. Reportedly, Apple wants to reduce the thickness of the current Apple Watch by adding a smaller case and offering an alternative band attachment method. There would be more room within the Apple Watch for larger batteries and other internal components if the new bands were magnetically attached to the device.
MicroLED Panel Display
Apple is reportedly developing a new high-end watch with a 2.1-inch (diagonal) micro-LED display, according to analysts Jeff Pu and Ross Young. Although it might be an upgrade to the Apple device Ultra rather than the Series 9, the device is reported to be arriving in 2024 or 2025.
Still, Apple might be designing other sizes, or the “Apple Watch X” that has been speculated is actually a larger watch with a redesigned shell and thinner bezels. Nowadays, OLED technology is utilized in several Apple Watch models; nonetheless, microLED technology is more energy efficient. In addition, it boasts enhanced contrast, richer colors, a longer lifespan, and quicker response times.
Monitoring of blood pressure
Apple has announced that it will include blood pressure monitoring into the Apple Watch by 2024. Users should be informed if their blood pressure is rising upward via the blood pressure monitoring feature, according to reports.
With Apple’s approach, blood pressure is presumably measured using sensors that measure the speed of the heartbeat wave through the user’s arteries, as opposed to the conventional methods that require an inflatable cuff wrapped over the upper arm. Systolic and diastolic measures, however, might not be accurate at first.
Hypertension Identification
Apple Watch is anticipated to identify instances of hypertension, or extraordinarily elevated blood pressure, as a component of Apple’s recently introduced blood pressure monitoring technology.
In order to aid in medical diagnosis, the technology will allow users to record their activities at the time of the hypertension. Also, the Apple Watch will advise the user to consult their physician or take their blood pressure using a conventional cuff, which can provide precise systolic and diastolic readings, in order to prevent perhaps misdiagnosing them.
Diagnostics for Sleep Apnea
A capability for detecting sleep apnea based on the Apple Watch is also planned for 2024. A condition known as sleep apnea causes breathing to briefly stop more frequently than usual while you’re asleep. Hypoxia and sleep deprivation may result from it. Making choking sounds and snoring loudly as you sleep are symptoms.
The Apple Watch is expected to analyze breathing patterns and sleep history to determine whether a user has the ailment, if so, directing them to consult a doctor ( November 2023).
Allow release
When Apple publishes its newest flagship iPhone, the iPhone 16, in September of 2024, it usually also introduces a new model of Apple Watch. Should Apple indeed release a 10th anniversary “Apple Watch X” next year, though, it might have something else in store.
Though it wasn’t released until April 2015, the original Apple Watch was revealed in September 2014, so Apple may choose to celebrate its anniversary on either date. A Series 10 or “X” would be more fitting for 2024, not 2025, as 2023 saw the release of the Apple Watch Series 9. However, the X moniker is still purely speculative.

Kidnapped
Pairing: Alpha!Bucky Barnes x Omega!reader
Warnings: Dubcon, smut, A/B/O dynamics, age gap, underage, forcefully induced heat, mind control, hypocrisy, breeding kink, knotting, trauma, hydra
Words: 3615
A/N: Hi guys, so this is my first attempt at ABO. I’ve read a lot of those so I hope I’ll get this right. So don’t be too hard on me. And now enjoy.
Omegas had become almost extinct. More and more kids were born who turned out betas and the rest were almost always alphas. So maybe it is easy to understand that when you turned out to be an omega at the age of 17 your value to your mother suddenly skyrocketed.
Your other siblings were all betas but you were suddenly special. The first heat your body put you through was a terrible strain on your body and took a lot of strength from you. A whole week was spent in delirium between fever and hallucinations. Your mother, a beta herself, had no idea how to help you and asked your family’s doctor for help.
He was very interested in you and your presentation and handed your mother a number to call.
A week later two very polite men who looked like they had fallen out of a 1940s crime movie, stood in front of your door.
“Mrs. Y/L/N? You have contacted us to take a look at your omega daughter?” the taller of the two asked.
“Yes. Please come in. We are in desperate need of advice. Her first heat was so terrible and I don’t know what to do if this gets even worse.” The men followed your mother to the livingroom and took the seats offered to them.
“Our facility is very well equipped and we are very skilled in dealing with young omegas. We would be able to monitor her closely and give her the right suppressants to quell her natural heats.” one of them explained.
“So you would take her with you?” your mother sounded sceptical. “Would we be able to see her? And when would she return home?” she asked.
The men shared a glance before continuing “She will be able to call once in a while and we will try our best to get her hormones in check and her home quickly.” the man ensured her.
Your mother hesitated and the men noticed so they changed their tactic.
“Mrs. Y/L/N. Your daughter is suffering badly and it will only get worse. We are the only ones who can actually help her. There aren’t a lot of experts in the field of A/B/O dynamics left. We definitely are your best shot. And if it helps to convince you, we can pay you handsomely for taking your daughter and giving her a shot at a normal life. How does 250.000$ sound?” your mother almost choked on her tea. “You want to pay me a quarter million dollars for her? You think I would sell my own daughter?” she was enraged, jumping up from her chair. “I want you to leave my house immediately.”
“Consider our offer for a moment please. We could help your daughter and learn from her case and you could finally sell off the mortgage to this house. We know that if you don’t take our money now you will have to move out soon. Do you want to move into a 3 room apartment with 4 children?” They knew a lot about your family which irritated your mother but she also quickly understood that they were right.
After your father had died in Afghanistan 3 years ago it had not been easy for your family.
As a single mom of 4 and just a part time job at a dentist's office she worried greatly how to make a future for them. The money from the strange men would take a lot of those worries away from her.
“Maybe you are right. She will come back to us quickly, right?” she asked to quell her guilty conscience.
“Of course, Mrs Y/L/N. She would be back in no time at all. We are very successful in what we do.” the men knew they had her in their grasp.
“Alright then. I will go upstairs and explain everything to her and then I think it is best when you take her immediately.” she got up and went upstairs.
A few moments later they heard yelling and then crying from upstairs. But suddenly it was quiet.
Another few minutes later you stumbled down the stairs, cowering behind your mother who held a duffel bag with some of your clothes and personal things.
“Hello Y/N. How are you feeling?” the taller man smiled at you.
“I’m okay, thank you. So I will go with you?” she asked back. “And you can help me with my biology?” You seemed very innocent to the men and they were sure that you had no idea what your intended purpose was in this world.
“Indeed we will make you more comfortable with your presentation. You will be able to return home quickly.” they ensured you too.
“Alright then.” you gave in. “Tell Joe, Lea and Maya that I love them and I will see them soon.” you instructed your mother and she nodded with tears in her eyes.
The men lead you to their car. The whole ride was silent. You looked out the window and saw landscapes passing by. The driver took so many turns that it didn’t take long for you to be completely confused and you had lost your orientation.
The journey seemed to take forever and at some point you closed your eyes and fell asleep.
You awoke disoriented and confused. You were laying on a bed in a sterile white room without a window but an adjoined bathroom. You sat up slowly to take in more of your surroundings. When you had decided to venture out further you noticed that the door was locked. You were trapped. Panic rose in your veins. What did that mean? Was this a kidnapping?
Just when you were about to have a mental breakdown the door was unlocked and a man you had never seen before stepped inside.
“Hello Miss Y/L/N. How are you feeling?” he asked you.
“Y/N is fine. I’m okay but why was the door locked?” you asked hesitantly.
“We didn’t mean to startle you. It was to your own protection. The compound we are currently in is comparable to a labyrinth. We just didn’t want you to get lost. Someone is going to come by later and give you a tour of the rooms you need to know. I am here to check out your vitals and ask you some questions. Is that alright with you?” He seemed nice enough.
“Ehm, yes it’s alright, I guess.” you sat back down on the bed while he took a seat on a chair.
“Very well, how long ago was your first heat?” Those kinds of questions seemed very personal but after all they wanted to help you.
“My first heat was about 2 weeks ago. It was awful. Hurt so much and lasted about 6 days.”
“Good, that is interesting information. Have you been intimate with a male before?”
You swallowed thickly “No never.”
“So no potential alpha around?”
“No.”
“Good, good. Is someone in your family an omega?”
“No, I am the only one as far as I know.”
“That is quite rare. Normally this is hereditary. I will take your pulse, blood pressure and temperature now.”
After the doctor had left someone came and took you to a room where you were served some dinner.
The night you spent tossing and turning. So many thoughts coursed through your head until you fell asleep of exhaustion.
You were rudely awoken by the cold neon lights being turned on. They ripped you out of a nice dream and you inwardly cursed them for it.
“Good morning Y/N. Did you sleep well?” the voice of a tall blonde female doctor- or agent, or whatever, you were still not sure where these people belonged to- reached your ears.
“Good morning. I had some trouble sleeping. I felt somehow on edge. Probably the new surroundings.” you shrugged.
“That is possible. I need you to get dressed. Breakfast is ready and then we will start with your training and testing of different medications.” she smiled and you did as she asked.
Breakfast consisted of fruit and porridge and then they took you into the opposite direction of your room.
You were led down multiple corridors until you reached a doctors room.
“Hello Y/N. Please remove your shirt and lay down.” The doctor said. She was the first person in this organization who smelled different than the others you had met. Everyone else had a neutral scent other than her and it wasn’t a perfume but you couldn’t place it and let it go for now.
“So you are an omega. That’s why they brought you to me. I presented as an omega too when I was 16 years old. My biology dictated my life for years and that’s why I am quite happy that we can make it easier for you before it gets too bad to handle.” that explained the different smell.
“I don’t want to sound rude, but you are not on suppressants right?” she shook her head no. “I thought you smelled different. So that’s one of my superpowers as an omega?” you joked.
“Indeed it is. Do you have any more questions?” she saw your hesitation. “Don’t be shy. You can ask me anything.”
“Ehm well during my first heat… I felt really hot and I had those very explicit fever dreams and then my body produced this… fluid out of my… ehm… you know.” you pointed toward your groin.
“Yes, I know what you mean. When you are in heat your body longs for a mate. Preferably an alpha to satiate your natural urges. The slick that your body produces is only a natural lubricant to make it easier for the alpha to slide in without hurting you.” she explained.
“So my only purpose in this world is basically to mate and give a few children to some alpha?” you asked unbelievingly.
“Not necessarily. We could find the right meds and suppressants for you and you could live your life alone until you decided it was time for a family or not. Your choice.”
“I like the way that sounds. So when do we start?” you asked exited.
“We will start right now. I am going to administer your first shot of a medication which will make you feel better.”
She put on some latex gloves and prepared a syringe with a clear fluid.
“Alright, don’t move now please. I will give this right into your upper arm muscle.” said done. It stung a little but if that actually worked it was definitely worth it.
“All done. I will bring you back to your room now. These meds need some time to settle and you might feel a little uncomfortable later.”
When you had arrived at your room she sent you inside with the words -“Someone will have an eye on you the next few hours. I will see you soon.” and locked the door behind you again. For your own protection they had said…
Before you had time to think about all of this your head hit the pillow and you were fast asleep.
The next time you woke up you were in terrible pain. Your abdomen was cramping and your throat was bone dry. That could only mean one thing: the heat was back. But that should have been impossible. It wasn’t due for another 2-3 weeks. But here you were, sweating, hurting and in desperate need for something you weren’t ready for.
You didn’t even get the chance to get out of bed before the door flew open and two men grabbed you to pull you behind them. You were too weak to fight them when they pushed you into another cell which looked almost the same as yours. Only in that one someone was waiting for you.
The moment you were pushed into the room his eyes shot toward you, almost hidden under his shoulder long brown hair. His nostrils flared as he took in your potent scent.
“Omega.” he breathed and his pupils dilated.
He looked downright feral so you shrunk into the corner next to the closed and locked door. Though he really tried to hold himself together. You knew that he wanted to give into these primal urges the omega in you tried to push you to, too.
Suddenly he wiped the hair off of his face and you had a first clear glance at his handsome face. And to your amazement you recognized him from your class trip to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. the year before.
His name was James ‘Bucky’ Barnes and he had fought in the 107th infantry in WWII. He had also been Steve Rogers- or as most people know him, Captain America’s- best friend and later part of the Howling Commandos. The only thing that didn’t add up here was the fact that he was supposedly dead since 1943.
But you were so sure that the man standing before you was not a ghost as much as you were sure that he was not the same man who had gone to war in the 40’s.
“James?” you whispered. He cocked his head so he must have heard you but he didn’t know what to do with your question.
“You are James Barnes born on March 10th in 1917. You don’t remember?” you asked in a louder voice.
“No.” he tried to sound secure but you could hear his voice slightly wavering.
You wanted to help him so you took the risk and stepped closer. It might seem strange, standing in front of this intimidating hunk of a man, and feeling safe. The pain in your body had also almost disappeared.
“What do you remember?” you asked him. He seemed really nervous by now, always trying to scent you.
“Pain. Missions. Training.” was all he said and you felt really bad for him.
“I am sorry to hear that. Do you want me to tell you everything I can remember about you? Maybe you will gain back some memory. And maybe you can tell me who these people are and why they forced me into heat early.” in that moment another terrible cramp invaded your lower abdomen and your legs gave out. But before your body could hit the ground his arms caught you and he carried you to his bed.
“Mhh omega you smell delicious. Can barely hold back.” he mumbled into the crook of your neck and you felt it too. The tall alpha seemed to somehow soothe the ache inside you but it wasn’t enough.
In that moment you just let the omega in you take over. You started pulling frantically on his and your clothes until they were lying long forgotten on the floor of the dusty room.
“Need you ‘mega. You’re mine.” he growled at the sight of your boobs.
“Alpha please make it stop.” you whimpered and he growled louder at you calling him by his presentation.
You let your biology completely rule you and followed your instinct. Crawling onto your hands and knees pushing your face into the pillow and your ass in the air.
“Good omega. Presenting for your alpha.” his approval made you mewl.
He was quick to get behind you. In this state there was no foreplay needed.
His right hand grabbed your buttcheek. It was soft and warm. When the index finger of his left hand followed your spine from the neck down you shuddered at the cold metal.
“Tell me ‘mega, have you ever been with an alpha?” he asked while stroking a flesh finger through your glistening folds.
“No alpha. Haven’t been with anyone.” the realisation that you were a virgin let him hesitate for a second.
“Mhh I’m gonna make that virgin pussy feel so good. You want my cock ‘mega?”
“Yes, alpha please. Make the pain stop.” you begged him.
He took that invitation and slowly pushed the head of his massive length against your opening. “Relax ‘mega. I won’t hurt you.” his pressure got harder and then he slid in. The pain was intense for a moment until he slid in further. It felt like your channel was made for him.
“Fuck doll you’re tight. Squeezing me so good. Gonna breed you ‘mega. You want that? Me filling you with pups.” he groaned and your channel squeezed him tighter in confirmation.
In that heat of the moment none of you cared that this might be a bad idea.
He sped up his thrusts and your moans got even louder when he hit that magical spot inside you.
“Feels so good.” you mewled.
“Come ‘mega! Come for me!” he commanded and something that had waited for his okay snapped. Your pussy clamped around him and he pushed in that bit deeper. His knot popped and he filled you with his cum all the while pulling you up with his metal arm across your chest and biting into your neck hard enough to break the skin, laying claim to you.
When you both had come down from your highs he rolled you over to lay on your side. He was still locked snug inside you and that would probably stay like that for a while.
“You wanted me to tell you why they brought you here. The answer is for this exact cause. They want to keep me- or rather my alpha- in check. And they want to find out if the serum can be inherited.” he suddenly spoke up after a long pause.
“And do you want them to do that?” your question seemed to shock him a little.
“I didn’t expect that question. No one has ever asked me what I thought. And no! If we have pups I don’t want them to be treated the way I was. We would never know what happened to them.” he said sadly.
“Then let’s get out of here.” His knot had finally gotten down which gave you enough room to turn around.
“How? I may be able to vanish on my next mission but I won’t be able to take you with me.”
“Then play the part. They don’t know that you remember who you are. So when you get out of here the next time you get help and get me out later.”
“And who do you think would help me? A murderer.” he let his head hang low.
“Steve Rogers. He was found a few years ago and has most recently been working with a group of people who call themselves The Avengers. I know you have the possibilities to find Steve and get him onto your side to help. Until then you will have to pretend you are still the brainwashed assassin they created because if they notice you will be put on ice or erased again.”
“I gotta admit that does sound like a plan. I will try everything in my power to succeed. I promise that I will get you out of here. Unscathed. You are my omega now. That means something to me.” he kissed the top of your head.
“Thank you- Bucky. Is it fine when I call you that while we are alone?”  you asked him.
“Yes sure. I love when you say my name.” and then he gifted you with one of his rare smiles.
The next few days were spent almost the same way. Until your heat was down. They took him away from you and you didn’t see him for at least 6 weeks. Hard to keep track of time without daylight.
They had brought you back to your room and you didn’t see any of the old doctors you had seen before your forcefully induced heat. They probably thought you would attack them.
In week 7 they finally found out that their plan had worked. You were indeed pregnant. Oh, how you wanted to tell Bucky but everytime you asked for him they shut you down.
More weeks passed by. They didn’t tell you anything. Not even about the baby.
By esteemed week 22 you were able to feel the pup kicking in your tummy and you were talking to him or her. You missed Bucky more and more. Up to the point where you thought they had wiped him again and he had failed your mission.
One night you were awoken by chaos outside your door. Before you could get up the door bust in and in the frame stood Captain America himself. The relief you felt in that moment could hardly be measured.
“Captain Rogers. I’m so glad to see you.” you expressed your feelings.
“Good to meet you Y/N.” he smiled at you then spoke into the comms inside his ear “I’ve got her. Room 503. She’s fine.” then he came over and insisted on carrying you out of the building.
Somewhere on the way to the Quinjet you met Bucky again.
“Bucky! You`re alright! Oh, thank God. I missed you. And I’m pregnant. We did it.” you beamed at him.
“You’re alright too. I love you. Let's get you home.” he took you from Steve’s arms and carried you inside the jet.
A few months later you and Bucky moved into an apartment with your son and daughter.

Blood and Stone - 26
Masterpost
(For trigger warnings, please see the AO3 chapter end notes!)
She sleeps most of the time and when she doesn't, she eats raw amounts of increasingly bloody meat. Or maybe she can just tell better, keener sense of smell, the damp wood, smoking fire, the lifeless meat, the pines- She only gets up to pee, once a day at best, everything out of whack, draining somewhere , and it's not clear how long this can go, where she can keep getting the energy for this, how close she is to-
Bobbi monitors her closely. The baby starts kicking so hard Natasha gets stretch marks across her whole belly, not towards the edges but right over her belly button, and the next time the skin starts tearing, drops of blood squeezed out, delicious fresh blood, her own- This can't go on. She's afraid every waking hour that the baby will break through. It's visceral and inevitable, the final worsening of the symptoms of a fatal disease. Her body is not built for this. She's merely the instrument, the host, dispensable. The ruined carcass her monster baby will crawl out of into a world full of vampires, full of death, full of despair. And then it will either have horrible things done to it or do horrible things itself.
She hears them talk about her, too weak to respond. Maria is not one to mince words. "Why would you fuck a vampire, though? I mean, seriously."
"Yeah, no, I know. But I think she really… likes him."
"Well, that's stupid."
"I met him, though. And… I don't know, I don't fully trust him but- I don't think he's aware."
"He's a vampire . One of the monsters you hunt. Don't tell me he's not aware ."
"Biology, I guess. It's weird. But I think she'll see that sooner rather than later."
"Oh, let's hope so. It's sick."
"That's obvious. Let's just get her through it, and then we'll deal with that."
She can barely think. She wakes and everything is white. Voices. Noises. Is she- She's still lying down, just not on the couch. It's awfully bright, electric. She'd say she's dead if she did still believe in heaven and hell and an afterlife that doesn't involve fangs.
"Why don't you just cut it out?"
The other voice is closer. "Might, actually. Do you have, for stitches- yeah, thanks."
"Seriously. It'll kill her."
"She wanted to keep it."
"You know it's a vampire spawn."
"I promised her."
"Who cares. Save her the pain."
This is far beyond. "What?" she tries to croak out.
"Natasha," Bobbi's voice says. "It has teeth."
She can barely stay conscious. Her body has ossified, painfully, she can't even keep track of it. One long hard piece. She'll snap and break, be broken. Dry like leaves.
"The blood loss could seriously tip her over."
"Isn't that what you have the miracle cure for?"
"It might not be fast enough."
"Well, give it to her now then."
"Get the suitcase. Just in case."
Thumping steps.
"Natasha? Can you hear me?"
She tries but her bone cocoon cannot be moved. "Your blood pressure took a dive. I think there's damage to your kidney..."
She can barely breathe. The words hardly reach her. Her cocoon is thick and heavy, completely enveloping her, slowly crushing her within. It's quiet and stifling, background thumping, her rattling breath louder than anything.
“...make it…”
“...moving…”
“...too much!”
“...sedate…”
“...not going to risk…”
“...that…”
“...happening…”
The birth itself goes remarkably easily, as she is later told.
She wakes an eternity later, and everything is still awfully bright.
The walls are white, the ceiling is white, her bed is white. There are white machines all around. She’s on a drip, as she’s been forever now, her arm riddled with fresh scars like one of a drug addict. Maria is leaning against a white cupboard, arms crossed, face closed off.
Natasha sits up easily. “What-”
“Cesarean section,” Maria replies. “Barbara gave you a lot of the crazy juice. It’s already healed.”
Natasha blinks, then pulls up the gown. There’s a scar from left to right, horizontally, on her abdomen, crossed with a smaller vertical scar at the center, ending below her belly button. Her belly is not where it was before she got pregnant but it’s already receded, and she panics like something’s missing, like she forgot something, a bag or- “Barbara said if you can get up, you should get up,” Maria adds. “She’s upstairs.”
They’re in the basement, the cellar. The cellar is a lab, that’s why everything is white. Sterile. “Did I bleed?” Natasha asks.
“Not until Barbara cut you open,” Maria replies simply. “It was in the middle of the day. We had it all patched up until sundown.”
She swings her legs off the bed, feeling so much lighter. Moving is easy to a degree she hardly remembers. The air doesn’t even feel cold. The stretch to her belly is gone, leaving some flabbiness and a lot of freedom of movement. “So it’s all good?”
“Well,” Maria remarks, removing the needle. “Almost.”
Natasha blinks. She’s forgetting something. “The-”
“It’s alive,” Maria says, handing her a glass of water. “Well, I’m not sure that’s the right word.”
She drinks slowly, so used to being careful with the swallowing because coughing is so exhausting. But she's still alive. Despite the- everything. Despite all of this shit. "Can I see it?"
"If you really want." Maria shakes her head.
She must think Natasha's crazy, with the vampire, the baby, the- sick. Did they say that? It feels so visceral. Like it makes her less than human, all this shit, the- She suddenly doesn't want it anymore, any part of it. She's tired, tired of everything, where she ended up. She wants them not to look at her with disgust anymore. She wants it to end.
She finishes the glass, head empty. Maria always studies her like she's crazy and dumb and cannot be trusted. Then Natasha gets up mechanically, the first time in forever she doesn't need help. She feels stronger and empty at the same time. Was it really worth it? Becoming this shell of a human just to survive? Give up her humanity to be strong enough to take on the monsters? What kind of a fool would think birthing a monster would bring her back any part of herself that's already long dead and buried?
Doesn't matter now. There's a door on one wall, of course also white. She opens it herself, gripping the handle. The next room is dark and only has the creaky wooden staircase. She holds her hands out to grip the grained wood. Maria follows her slowly, quietly. The staircase has a steep climb yet it doesn't exhaust her at all. She pushes the hatch open.
Upstairs is lit by candles, wooden shutters closed. Bobbi is standing by the cupboards, turning when the hatch opens, bundle of blankets in her arms. "Oh. You're up."
Natasha doesn't really know what to say to that, inching closer. There's a plate with strips of meat on the counter, strong smell. Bobbi rocks the bundle gently. "Everything alright? Your belly looked good already, half-healed."
"Yes," Natasha replies, coming to a stop. "It's healed."
Pale skin peaks out of the bundle. Bobbi nods, grabbing a strip of meat and feeding it to- A wave of sickness comes over Natasha.
God. Why did she do this?
The- the thing swallows the meat quickly, she can hear it chew and slurp. She suddenly doesn't want anything to do with this anymore. She wants to turn around and run away, go back to fighting monsters, not- not creating them, go back to being herself , whoever that is, fight and kill-
Bobbi wipes her fingers on the blanket and turns slightly so Natasha can see the blank face, the fat smeared around its mouth, the teeth, almost fangs, the empty dark eyes- Clint was right, James was right, they were all right, how could she ever believe to bring something good into the world when she's becoming every day more like the monsters infesting it, when she's so obviously beyond repair or redemption, a broken shell of a human that just pretends to feel, to believe, to dream - "Do you want to hold it?"
She's staring at the blank child-like face of the abomination like into a mirror, the unmistakable proof of what she has turned into. She has blurred all the lines, lost everything she claimed to hold dear, drenched her ledger in red. There's no way back. The world is holding a mirror to her face, a mirror of her own flesh and blood, and for once, she cannot look away.
Bobbi steps closer, pressing the blanketed abomination into her arms, checking that she has a solid hold on it. "There. It's a girl."
It's a monster, unmistakable from the upper canines, the pale marbled skin, the dark soulless eyes. It doesn't even feel warm through the blanket. She stares at it, swallowing, and the thing stares back blankly. It dawns on her this thing will never be a child, it will never want anything from her, no affection, no care, no nurturing, all it wants is to eat . How could she have been so wrong?
"It's quite heavy for an early birth," Bobbi remarks. "But that's not really surprising."
It's indeed heavy, plenty of dead weight. She has no doubt this thing would have kicked through her stomach if necessary. No concern for anything but its own survival. She swallows again, staring at the dark void behind those eyes. "Can I- give it back?"
"Sure." Bobbi has plucked it from her arms before she can reconsider. "You should still take it slow. The vampire blood seems to have worked well but we don't want to risk it."
The hatch is closed soundly. Maria doesn't seem particularly excited about any of this, shuffling over and dropping on the bench. The thing on Bobbi's arm opens its mouth, gaping hole, sharp teeth that seem a little too big for its mouth. Bobbi snorts softly, dropping another slice of meat down its throat. And just like that, Natasha's out of this whole thing. This is not her baby. This is not something she can take care of. She can't fix this. She's never going to have a relationship with this thing because this thing is never going to have a relationship with her. This is not her baby .
"It's very hungry," Bobbi remarks, feeding it more. "I wonder how it will grow."
It doesn't matter. It's not a baby. It's something to recoil from, the blatant sign of her failure as a human. Maybe, if she pushes it away far enough, that counts for something, that makes her more human again. Turn off this path. It'll be a dreary march but maybe she'll get somewhere, because there is no staying here. She sees that now.
She lays down on the couch, her couch, and falls asleep with her heart thumping.
The thing eats, sleeps and stares into the void. It hasn't made a sound once. It breathes, though. Bobbi takes care of it good-naturedly because Natasha absolutely can't but it seems more professional than out of joy of having it. It's really not a joy. It is eerie, the dead baby, the soulless baby, the parasite. It may be out of her body but she's got the feeling it would suck the life out of her if it could. She can tell Maria hates it as well, though she never says it, but then again she never says much.
Bobbi says she has postpartum depression, without the usual fatigue, but she can't understand the crushing moral weight of having brought this into the world. For God's sake, she fucked a vampire . Even if it was James. It sickens her. What's so wrong with her that she couldn't see how wrong this all was? How could her moral compass break like this? Maybe it was Alexei, maybe that's what ruined her, maybe- she knows she's still not over it, even if she pretends to be, chopping the head off of the man she used to love, and now she loves a vampire whom she could never ever hurt- Fuck. She went wrong at so many intersections. Alexei, the careless way she acted in Saint Petersburg, coming here, giving up so much on herself that she's willing to inject vampire blood, growing so used to it it doesn't even disgust her anymore. No wonder she fucked a vampire. She's become everything she murdered Alexei for, and so much worse. Thinking about it drowns her in shame. She can't hide from the world anymore. She could barely hide what she'd done to Alexei and now, this thing , it'll never ever go away.
She follows Maria outside to chop wood because she can't stand being around the thing. Maria, of course, doesn't remark on it, calmly but forcefully driving the ax into the wood. Natasha looks for something to say to assure Maria she's not all gone, that she's still human, that she shouldn't get her head chopped off like Alexei. "I wish I had never had it."
Maria huffs, then splits the next block. She doesn't seem convinced. Natasha will have to do more than that if she ever wants to have some worth as a human again. "I don't want anything to do with vampires ever again. With those monsters."
"Good," Maria remarks briefly, letting her ax rain down.
Natasha looks for even more words, something of a frenzy. "I want them all dead. All of them."
Maria nods, angling the next block and handing her the ax. Natasha takes a deep breath and slams it down with all her might, blowing right through the wood and at least an inch into the chopping block. Maria whistles through her teeth, nodding with approval, placing the next piece of wood on the chopping block and collecting the stray parts of the previous one. "You got strength."
"It's the vampire blood," Natasha replies, taking another deep breath before driving the ax through the wood. It feels good. Finally doing something. "It makes me stronger."
Maria nods slowly. "Use it."
She doesn't cry. This is not something to cry about. This is bare knuckles, quiet resolve, clarity. Not the agreeable kind but still one you cannot ignore. She sits around, staring at the thing, trying to find the faintest hint of humanity in it but coming up short. It's a monster and she never should have had it.
Maria went out into the forest to hunt. Bobbi is downstairs in the lab, testing how the skin of the monster reacts to UV light. The thing itself is lying on the couch table, all bundled up, breathing stupidly through the monster fangs. Natasha stares at it venomously.
She can't live with this thing. It goes against everything. Beyond good and evil, this thing is just - it shouldn't exist. There are limits even to what this wretched world can take and this is beyond them. All of this is on her, so she needs to be the one to fix it.
She takes a pillow. The thing stares at her with its empty eyes. It's not even scared. Maybe it knows. Monsters don't feel things, other than bloodlust. It has the fangs and a tiny resemblance of the claws as well but the dead eyes are the worst. There's nothing behind those eyes. She made this soulless abomination, her own flesh and blood, she brought this upon the world, she needs to deal with it.
She presses the pillow onto the thing's face.
It doesn't struggle, doesn't move, but it never does, only ever to open its mouth and demand more bloody meat. There's barely any resistance. She honestly hopes it fucking dies. There's no place in the world for this thing, they're all better off without it, it doesn't deserve to breathe air like a human when it's nothing more than a parasite and a monster. She presses the pillow down harder. The thing doesn't even react. She feels bile rising up her throat, the ugly truth making her gag, tears streaming down her face. She never wanted this. Any of this. She wanted something human , something real , something that makes her better, not this monster, this abomination, this disgrace. She never wanted the world to see how fucked up she is, fucked up enough to sleep with a vampire, to take vampire blood, to have the monster baby and believe it's going to be anything else than exactly that, a monster with fangs and claws and dead eyes and an insatiable hunger, it's dead already, dead to her, and maybe then she can wake up from this nightmare and go back to- to a world without vampires, an ugly and painful world but one with hope nonetheless, not this soulsucking dark pit, this endless tunnel, this sinful void-
Something rips her back, fingers digging into the pillow but futilely, and Bobbi pushes her back onto the couch and throws the pillow onto the ground, checking up on the thing- its face is red and it's breathing hard but it doesn't appear perturbed. "Shhh. It's okay."
Natasha feels even more tears stream down her face. Fuck. Did she really think, did she really convince herself that this would fix anything? That she could make any part of this undone? Bobbi takes the thing and sits down next to her. "It's okay. It's okay, Nat."
No, it's not. She just tried to murder her own- this is even lower, even darker. This is how bad, how inhuman she is, how low she has sunk. The thing stares at her without any anger, any curiosity, any accusation, just a blank slate. It's not evil. It's just… there. "No, it's not okay."
Bobbi strokes the top of its head. "It's fine, really. Nothing happened. You're both going to be okay."
She's not going to be okay, and this is not fine. If Bobbi hadn't showed up, she really would have- This is exactly how fucked up she is, how self-hating, how ready to do anything that promises the faintest reprieve. She would have smothered her own child with a pillow because- because what, it's not what she hoped for? As if that's on her child and not on her, she pushed this thing into this world, how can she blame it for anything, really, try to push her own flesh and blood away because she can't face what she's become, can't own up to it, can't accept it. This thing is her and wanting to hurt it for that, annihilate it for that, that's just pathetic and stupid and hypocritical.
"It's okay," Bobbi assures her. "It's going to be okay."

a/n: Let me know what you think!
You groaned as your eyes slowly opened, wincing at the light.  Your entire body hurt.  At first, you thought you were having deja vu.  It felt exactly like the first day you were arrived.
As you woke up a little more, you became aware of the beeping of the heart monitor, and of the weight in your right hand.  Turning your head, you felt yourself grow warm with love as you saw Peter sleeping in the chair beside the bed.  His hand was gently clutching yours.
You hadn't gotten to look at Peter in a long time.  Just... look.  His hair was longer, a little shaggier, than the last time you had seen him up close.  There was a bit of a five o'clock shadow dusting his jaw, making him look a little older than his twenty-two years.  He had a new scar right above his eyebrow, the pale pink contrasting against his skin.
Your cheeks went red as his eyes suddenly blinked open, looking away from him.  But you let him hold onto your hand as he turned to look at you.  "You're awake."
Nodding, you bit your lip as you looked down at your lap.  The dark purple bruises that littered your arms gave you chills.  You could only imagine how the rest of you looked.  If the soreness was anything to go by...  Well, you knew it couldn't be pretty.
Peter's hand squeezed yours, causing you to turn to him.  The look in his eyes...  It wasn't pity, like you expected.  You couldn't quite pin down what exactly the emotion was.  "I'm so sorry, angel.  If, If I had been there sooner, I might've been able to—"
You shook your head as you rolled over onto your side with a wince.  "It wasn't your fault.  You got there right on time, actually."
Peter had already heard from the doctor that Dr. Harry Garner hadn't been successful in his attack, but it didn't change the fact that you were hurt.  Scooting his chair closer to you, he pushed your hair back from your face before rubbing his thumb gently against the cuts that the doctor's fingernails had left on your cheek.  "I shouldn't have let you go in alone."
You didn't reply, just closing your eyes as you relished the feeling of his hand on your cheek.  You had never realized just how much you had missed his touch, or how starved you were for it.  And now that you had it back, you didn't know if you were ever going to be able to let him go.  You had pushed him away once.  You didn't think you would have the strength to do it again.
You also didn't think you could do that to Peter again.
So maybe, instead of pushing him completely out, you'd just keep him at arm's length.  He'd still be in your life but he'd be kept at arm's length so that you didn't end up hurting him.
That could work.
You were brought out of your head by Peter, who ran his fingers through your hair.  "What are you thinking so hard about, angel?  I, I can practically see steam coming from your ears."  He laughed as you rolled your eyes, biting his lip as he looked at you.  The two of you sat there, just looking at each other for a long moment.  "I've missed you," he whispered.
You bit your lower lip, your hand reaching up to cover his.  "I've missed you, too..."
Peter suddenly looked behind you, and you turned your head to see a woman standing there in a white coat and a stethoscope around her neck.  Natasha and Bucky were standing behind her, worried looks on their faces.
"Hello, Y/N.  I'm Doctor Marie Cooke," the woman said as she walked over to you slowly.
She was observing your reaction to having her in the room, you realized.
Once she got a few feet away, she clasped her hands in front of her.  "Your team had me come in from New York City just for you.  They care about you a lot, you know."
You were a little confused.  "What about the doctors in the medical bay?"
Tony frowned as he rubbed the back of his neck.  He glanced at Natasha and Peter, his eyes going down to where his hand was holding yours.  He was rubbing the back of your hand with his thumb, providing a sense of comfort and safety.  "Well, you see...  Dr. Cooke is...  She's..."
When it became clear that he wasn't going to say it, Natasha filled in, "She specializes in care for victims of sexual assault."
"I'm here because I'm trained on how to give you the best possible care, while also making sure that you feel safe," Dr. Cooke said as she grabbed a chart from the end of your bed.  She looked over a few things, before pausing and motioning to Peter, Natasha, and Tony.  "Are you alright with them being in the room during this?  These types of discussions can be extremely personal and I want you to be as comfortable as possible."
You looked at the three people, and you slowly nodded, biting your lip.  Peter squeezed your hand again, smiling encouragingly at you.  "You've got this."
Once you had said you were okay with them staying, Natasha and Tony sat on the other side of you.  They were mostly quiet, their presence meant to give you emotional support.
"I completed a sexual assault forensic exam while you were sleeping, but I just need to check your vitals and change your bandages, okay?  Is it okay if I ask you a few questions while I do this?"
"Yes."
You watched as she moved to the side that Natasha and Tony were sitting on, pulling on her stethoscope.  She seemed incredibly kind, and you appreciated how calmly she spoke.  It relaxed you and made you trust her a little more than you would've otherwise.  "Can you tell me what happened after Dr. Garner destroyed your comms?"  She carefully pressed the stethoscope to your chest, moving it in various places.
It made you a little anxious as you realized that you were naked under the hospital gown, but you didn't say anything.  She had you lean forward, and as she continued to listen to your lungs, you began to tell her what happened.  "I...  I ran for the door.  When he followed after me, I tried to do a roundhouse kick, but he caught my ankle and... h-he flipped me onto the ground."
"Take as long as you need, sweetheart."  Dr. Cooke gently helped you lay back down, grabbing something from the desk.  "I'm going to wrap this around your arm to take your blood pressure."
You watched quietly as she wrapped a cuff around your upper arm, inflating it.  When she placed the stethoscope under the edge of it to listen, you continued, "He...  He dragged me a few feet before grabbing my hair and dragging me the rest of the way to the bed like that..."  Peter was tensing beside you, his grip on your hand tightening a little, but you ignored it.  "Th-That's when he lifted me on the bed.  I...  I tried to get off but he—"  You had to pause, taking in a deep breath as you tried to keep yourself from crying.  The thought of what he had done to you made you feel so... so dirty.
She gently picked up your free hand, pressing two fingers against your inner wrist.  "I'm checking your respiratory rate, okay?  Go ahead and take a moment, and just breathe for me."
You were grateful for the break.  It gave you a moment to compose yourself, even though you know that everyone in the room would've understood completely if you had broken down then and there.  By the time she was done, you were ready to continue.  "That's when he pinned me down.  He was...  He was tearing off my clothes and was about to..."  You bit your lip as you looked away.  "Th-That's when Peter came in."
Glancing over at him, you were greeted with Peter's crooked smile as he pressed a kiss to your knuckles.  "You're, You're doing fantastic, angel."
Dr. Cooke walked to the desk, where she opened a cabinet and pulled out a thing of gauze and medical tape.  "I'm going to change your bandage now, okay?"  She carefully peeled off the bandage that you hadn't even realized was on your forehead, tossing it into the trash.  "Can you tell me how you got this?"
Frowning, you tried to remember just when you had hit your head.  "I...  It was when I tried to do the roundhouse kick and he flipped me.  I hit the e-edge of the wall."
"Well, you have a bit of a concussion, but it should clear up nicely in the next few days."  She looked over your chart, writing down a few things.  "Other than that, you're free to return to your room.  But I'd like to schedule your first therapy session.  Is tomorrow at eleven okay?"
"Therapy?  What about Brenda?"
"We thought," Nat said as she cleared her throat, standing up, "this might be a better option for you."
"I'm also a licensed therapist," the woman said with a dazzling smile.  She had a very maternal aura that kept you from giving a flat out 'no.'
Plus, you could see just how badly Natasha, Peter, and Tony wanted this to work.  So you nodded, because you knew how guilty they felt, and you wanted to do anything to make that go away.  It wasn't like it was their fault.  You had been the one to volunteer.
That night, you found yourself tossing and turning while trying to fall asleep.  But anytime you closed your eyes, you just saw his face.  It got to the point where you kept thinking you were seeing him the corner of your eye, haunting you like a ghost.  But anytime you turned to see if he was there, it was just another shadow.  Another trick of the light.
The clock struck one in the morning, and you were still no where close to falling asleep.
You could ask Wanda for help, but you knew how that would turn out.  You couldn't deal with restless sleep that left you more tired in the morning that you had been the night before.  That's what you had had every night for the last few months, and it never got better.  Being put to sleep by Wanda was like putting your body on pause for a few hours.
But the one person who could truly help you was actually home.
So you slipped out of your bed, wincing as your feet touched the cold floor.  You tiptoed across the hall, biting your lip.  Your hand was raised to knock on Peter's door, but you were hesitating.  What if he was already asleep?  What if he told you to go away?  What if, after all this time, he had finally let you go?  It wasn't like you'd be able to blame him for it.  You had been trying to get him do just that for months.  The logical side of you knew that none of that was going to happen.  He had stayed with you while you slept in the hospital, holding your hand the entire time.  He had risked his life while saving you from Dr. Harry Garner.
Taking a deep breath, you lightly knocked twice on his door.
"Come in."
Your heart caught in your throat as your hand moved to the doorknob, hesitating to open it.  You had one last chance to run.
But you couldn't keep running.  Even if it seemed like a good idea, all it did was hurt you and your little family in the end.
As you pushed open the door, Peter looked up from where he was working on his laptop.  "Hi," he said, clearly a little surprised.  "Are you okay?"
Your fingers fiddled together as you stood in the doorway.  Your feet shuffled a little as you kept your eyes away from his.  "I...  I can't sleep.  Can I stay with you tonight?"  When he silently nodded, you walked over to the bed, watching as he pulled back the covers for you to slide in.
"Do you mind if I work on my laptop for just a few more minutes?"
You shook your head no, relaxing as you burrowed under the sheets that smelled so much like Peter.  It was like being wrapped in a giant hug.  You could feel him glancing over at you ever so often as you closed your eyes, lying on your side facing him.
True to his word, Peter only typed away at his laptop for about five more minutes before shutting it, placing it to the side.  He crawled under the blankets but kept himself on the other side of the bed.  "Is this okay?" He asked anxiously.  "I don't want to get too close if you're not comfortable with it."
"This is good," you murmured, already half asleep.  But you reached across the bed, finding his and and intertwining your fingers.  "Goodnight, Peter."
"Goodnight, angel."
You woke up the next morning to his hand still in yours, and you sighed in relief.  You had actually slept through the night for the first time in months.  Peter looked so at ease beside you, it made your chest hurt.  You couldn't stop yourself from wondering what it would be like to wake up next to him every morning, to curl up next to him, to kiss him good morning.
No.  You couldn't start with that.  You were only friends.  That's it.
Doing your best to not wake him, you crawled out of the bed and left his room, shutting the door behind you with a soft click.  Feeling a little more refreshed, you found yourself wandering to the kitchen.  You needed coffee, badly.  And the pain medication that the doctor had prescribed for you.
You were standing up on your tiptoes, trying to reach the pill bottle that someone had placed on the top shelf, when someone came up behind you and grabbed it for you.  "Good morning," Peter's raspy morning voice said, his breath tickling your ear.  "You were gone when I woke up."
"Coffee."  You cleared your throat awkwardly as you squirreled away from him, taking the pill with you.  As the coffee began to brew, you popped two of the naproxen, washing it down with a glass of water.
"Do you want French toast or eggs?"  Peter asked as he searched the cabinets.  "Or pancakes?  We can put blueberries in them, like you like."
You shook your head, turning to look at him.  "Peter, stop."  He frowned as he stood up straight, looking at you.  "We...  We can't..."  Your eyes turned to the floor.  "We can't go back to the way things were."
You could feel the hurt coming off him as he took a few steps towards you.  "What do you mean?"
"I...  I can't have you close to me," you stammered, your hands balled into fists at your side.
Peter scowled as he looked at you in disbelief.  "Why not?  Why the hell did you even push me away in the first place?"
You tried to turn away, grabbing the pot of coffee and pouring yourself a cup.  "It's not important," you insisted as you moved past him to grab the coffee creamer.
"Like hell it isn't," he retorted, watching as you walked back and forth.  "Why won't you talk to me, Y/N?  I thought we were best friends.  Then one day, you don't give a shit about me."
"That's the problem!" You said, whirling on him.  "I give too many shits about you!"
"What the hell are you on about?"
You were growing more and more frustrated, becoming increasingly aware of the tears as it felt like barbed wire was closing around your throat.  "I can't be the reason you get hurt, okay?!  I won't do that to you!"
He rolled his eyes, his jaw tense.  "Is that what this is about?  Because you think the Red Room is going to make you kill me?"  He leaned against the counter, his hands gripping it until his knuckles were white.  "How many times do I have to tell you, they're not going to get to you?"
Shaking your head, you did your best to block him out.  "You don't get it.  I'm going to end up hurting you, and then you're going to hate me."
"Why?!"  You looked at Peter in shock as he finally got sick of your excuses, slamming the pan he was going to use to make pancakes onto the stove.  "Those aren't good enough reasons for pushing me away."  His hands were moving in large, fluid motions.  "Everyone here is at risk of being hurt by each other.  It comes with the line of work.  So you can't use that as an excuse for pushing me away when everyone else has pushed past their self-doubt."  You were shocked as he continued to yell, both of you starting to cry.  "Why the fuck did you push me away?!  And none of that fucking bullshit about hurting me because I don't care about that, okay?  I don't care if I end up dead in a ditch because of you, as long as you're in my life.  So why the fuck would you do this?!"
"Because I love you!"  You hadn't intended on shouting as loudly as you did, or confessing to him at all.  But he was yelling and you could see how hurt he was and fuck.  You had done that to him.  And maybe you were tired of hiding and pushing him away.  You were tired of punishing yourself for the atrocities that had been done to you.  You were open and vulnerable because you had almost died the night before.  Your chest was heaving as you stared at Peter, who was frozen in shock.  "I pushed you away because I fucking love you, okay?!  You are the best thing that's ever happened to me, but people who are close to me usually end up dead, and that can't happen to you!  I won't let it happen to you!"  Your voice dropped in volume as you wiped at your eyes.  "So if that means that I have to push you away to keep you safe, then that's what I'll do.  No matter how much it hurts."
Wiping your eyes, you began to walk towards the elevator, almost running.  Hell, you wanted to sprint away from him.  You couldn't imagine what he had been thinking as you laid your heart out bare for him.
You let out a gasp as a pair of hands turned you around.  Peter looked down at you for a second before he pulled you into a kiss, his hands on either side of your face.  Your heart was racing as you wrapped your arms around his neck after a moment's hesitation.  Peter was here.  Peter was here and he was kissing you after you had admitted to being in love with him and fuck, it was everything you had ever imagined and more and you never ever ever wanted to stop kissing him and—
Peter pulled back, resting his forehead against yours.  "I am so fucking in love with you, Y/N."  His voice was deep and gravely with desire as he held onto you, his lips brushing against yours every time he spoke.  "I'm going to love you no matter how much you try to push me away, so please don't."  Tears were still falling down his cheeks as he kept his eyes closed.  "Please let me love you like you deserve to be loved."
You didn't know what to do.  Hearing those words made it impossible for you to push him away.  Knowing that he loved you made you want to hold him forever and never let him go, despite your reservations.  You had to choose between your head and your heart.  Your head told you to push him away again, to say no.  But your heart was screaming for you to say yes, to let yourself love and be loved.  Natasha's words flashed to the front of your mind.
"People like us...  We don't usually get happy endings.  So when you find someone that you can have that with, you should hold on and never let go."
So you nodded.
You nodded, and Peter looked at you in disbelief before he scooped you up in his arms, holding you tightly against his chest.  You were both crying, eyes puffy and red, but you were laughing.  You were laughing because you loved him and he loved you and even if it might not last forever, you were going to hold on while you could.  He loved you, and while it wasn't going to fix what had been done to you in the past, he believed in you and pushed you to heal, no matter how difficult it was.
Just then, the doors that led to the rest of the compound opened, and the rest of the Avengers walked in.  They had all been talking amongst themselves, but when they spotted you, they froze.  Peter was still holding onto you, one hand resting on your cheek while the other wrapped around your waist.
"Is this finally happening?" Bucky asked nonchalantly as he walked to the fridge, taking out a bottle of water and chugging it.  The others were following slowly behind him.  "Because if so, I'm going to need to give the Dad Talk to Peter."
A laugh fell from your lips as you glanced up at Peter, who nodded.  You then nodded back at the others, who all began to whoop and holler as they congratulated the two of you.  But even with all the noise and people around, the two of you only had eyes for each other.
"I love you, angel," Peter murmured, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
"I love you, too."
"Okay, love birds," Tony laughed as he dragged out plates and the pancake mix.  "Enough with the mushy stuff.  Come help make breakfast."
And as you looked around at the rest of the Avengers around you, you felt another wave of tears threaten to overcome you.  You had a family.  You had people who loved you with your faults, and pushed you to become and better every day.
For the first time in a long time, you knew you were going to make it.  Even if it took a long time, you were going to be okay as long as you had the people around you by your side.

Stosuh Fanfiction 2: Electric Bogaloo
Some more Stosuh Fanfiction I like, some of them are really new, I obsessively check Ao3 everyday for new food at this point and it’s kinda scaring me. Also @death-ismyspiritanimal seemed pretty desperate so I guess I’ll just share some more?
Enjoy!
A Troublemakers Guide To East Avenue High by ArchiveResponcibly
(There’s no actual summary so I’ll just take the Prologue since it fits quite well as one)
Welcome to A Troublemakers Guide To East Avenue High, explaining the ins and outs of highschool since five seconds ago. Honestly, the first thing that anyone planning on getting in trouble needs to know is that the teachers are strict and the detention monitor is not.
The second thing troublemakers-to-be need to know is how to use this book. From all we can tell, we seem to be marked as gods. We are the rulers of this book, so to speak. Truthfully, we’re good with that.
If you are reading this, then you probably know one of the second group, hellsmen. (or are one yourself, but whatever). They (or you) have access to the complete guide.
The last group my fellow gods are making me mention are the disciples. They are well known around the school. You’ll probably hear about the (currently) six of them soon enough. Talk to them if you want to speak to the gods.
Read on, read on, dear troublemakers.

Guilty Party: Chapter 1
A/N: Heh, I know this is my art blog but y’know writing is definitely an art form. Here’s a little passion project that I tap away at every now and again. You can find it on AO3 here (5 chapters up as of right now).
Summary:  Tony has finally been fulfilling his duties to Peter as a mentor. When they get in a car crash on the way to the tower, how will Tony cope with the overwhelming fear for Peter's life?
"Hop in, kiddo." Mr Stark said as he opened the door to the sleek black car and gestured inside. Peter still couldn't believe he was going to dinner with his childhood hero Tony Stark despite it being a weekly occurrence now. Since he had passed Tony’s little test and declined the “offer” to join the Avengers, the two had been communicating almost daily and Peter would often find Happy waiting for him outside school (sometimes Mr Stark would have the forethought to tell Peter beforehand and sometimes it seemed to slip his mind). Mr Stark had even cleared a workstation in his own personal workshop for Peter to use for crafting robots or designing new web fluids or anything he could imagine. Peter loved workshop time with Mr Stark - the witty repartee that they had going never failed to put a smile on his face.
“Hey. Hey kid. Helloooooo? Earth to Peter?”. Tony's voice cut through Peter’s reflection as he looked up and saw Mr Stark clicking his fingers in an attempt to get his attention. “Sorry! Sorry Mr Stark.”, Peter exclaimed and shook his head in an attempt to bring him back to the here and now. He jolted forward and rushed inside the open door Mr Stark was still holding open for him. “Jeez kid, how many times am I going to tell you to call me Tony?”
The car was stopped at traffic lights that Peter could've sworn had taken hours to change and would used Happy’s grumpy expression in the mirror as evidence.
“So, how was school?”, Tony asked, locking his phone, sliding it into his pocket and turning his body to face the teenage boy on the seat next to him.
“Oh it was good, great actually because in biology we were learning more in depth about nerves and impulses and how chemical messages are carried across synapses and we also talked about psychosomatic limbs and how it can affect the lives of amputees and …”
Peter trailed off as he looked back at his mentor who was looking at his with a stifled chuckle on his lips.
“Don't get me wrong Pete, I love to hear you so excited about science but sometimes I wonder how long you’d be able to talk for before you ran out of air.”, Tony jested with a laugh. Peter looked at his lap, willing himself not to blush with the embarrassment of his word vomit but also at the idea that Tony Stark liked to hear him talk. The car’s engine rumbled underneath them as they pulled forward now that the infernal traffic lights had changed to green.
“So,” Tony began to speak again with Peter listening intently, “I’ve been thinking about some upgrades for your suit and -”
Peter felt a sharp pang in the back of his head and Tony's thoughts were cut off by a semi hitting the passenger side of the vehicle at full force. The sides of the car caved in and crumpled, throwing Peter, Tony and Happy sideways. All Peter felt was pain, immense immeasurable pain. His eyes closed and all he saw was black.
The ringing came before anything else. A constant ringing in his ears was followed again by the pain which had spiked and the most intense feeling seemed to originate from his abdomen. He blinked slowly, cracking open his eyes and peering down at the source. Peter saw rough hands applying pressure with a scrap of fabric soaked in blood. His blood. He felt breath on his face and looked straight ahead to find that Tony was the one applying the pressure with a furrowed brow and pleading eyes. His lips were moving but Peter still only heard the incessant ringing and his eyes began to droop closed. Peter willed his eyes to stay open but he seemed to be fighting a losing battle until parts of his hearing began to fizzle back in like a radio being re-tuned. He heard sirens in the distance and more importantly his name being repeated over and over with an overwhelming amount of desperation.
“Peter! No no no no, Peter, hey Peter, keep those eyes open okay? You need to stay with me here.” Peter couldn't bring himself to conjure words so he just whimpered weakly in response. “Help is coming buddy, just hold on a while longer.”
He could hear the sirens drawing closer in the background but his body couldn't take anymore. Peter’s eyes dropped closed.
“Oh shit! He’s out again.”
The sirens were at their loudest and Tony could see flashing lights in his peripheral vision. Ambulance doors slammed and a sea of medics rushed towards the totalled car. Tony was pulled away by a pair while the majority set to work applying pressure to Peter, doing their best to stabilise him. The pairs coaxing and soothing just annoyed Tony as he was already set on edge by guilt and worry.
“Mr Stark sir, we have to check you over sir”
Firemen had also arrived with the EMTs and were currently cutting away the wreckage of the car so that they could get the teenager out properly. They had already cut away the slightly less damaged passenger door of the side Tony was sitting in and pulled him out reluctantly. Tony was standing as close to Peter as possible, insistent that he would go no further away. He could hear the EMT repeat her earlier statement but he chose to ignore her. The firemen finished cutting away the doors and the EMTs not currently applying pressure were securing his neck and head in blocks to stop them from moving as they transferred him to the gurney. They moved him gently and Tony watched them with baited breath and followed them as they pushed it to the ambulance. All was going considerably smoothly until they got to just before the open entrance of the ambulance. A shout rang out, an exclamation that made Tony want to drop to his knees.
“He’s crashing! Get the defib!” Tony let out a roar and attempted to run towards Peter, to let him know that he was still there but found himself restrained by two of the larger, male EMTs. He continued to fight their hold and struggle in a frantic attempts to reach Peter until Happy ran over with surgical plasters on his cuts and a sling wrapped over his left arm.
“Tony! Tony stop!”
“I have to be there Hap, I have to help him!” Tony begged desperately.
“Boss, there's nothing you can do for him right now, let the EMTs do their job” Tony stopped actively pulling against the men restraining him but he set his jaw, silently willing Peter to pull through, knowing that he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he didn't make it. The team of paramedics had already made one unsuccessful attempt at returning Peter’s heart rate to normal and were about to make another.
“Clear!” The EMT shouted before he pressed the pads down onto Peter’s chest and Peter's body convulsed upwards which made Tony feel sick to his stomach. After a few seconds which felt like hours, a steady beep started to emanate from the monitor replacing the constant drone from before. Tony breathed a sigh of relief.
“Boss, we really have to get you checked out now”, Happy said as he urged him forwards gently cupping the back of his upper arm Tony gave a slight, weary nod and began to follow the two EMTs who were tasked with dealing with him to the designated ambulance. He had only just managed to put his right foot forward and bring the other to join it when his sight started to look out of focus. Everything before him blurred into one giant clump of colours. Tony blinked aggressively in an attempt to clear his vision but it quickly became overwhelming. He couldn't keep up with the moving shapes anymore. He felt his eyes close and then gravity take effect on his limp, passive body.

Everything You Need To Know About Blood Pressure Monitors
High blood pressure (HBP) is a major heart disease risk factor. It is important to get your BP evaluated from time to time, which can help assess your heart disease risk. Heart disease is a major cause of mortality in America. It must be noted here that for certain conditions and symptoms, an in-person doctor’s visit is suitable, however, when it comes to high blood pressure it is best that you are in possession of a blood pressure monitor that can help you evaluate your levels seamlessly. This is one of the most effective at-home solutions offering numbers for you to log and report to your doctor for him to make better assessment.
Tumblr media
For an adult, BP under 120/80 mmHg is considered normal. HBP can be managed by medications and/or lifestyle modifications.
An inflatable cuff that is usually fitted around the arm and a monitoring device is what constitutes a blood pressure monitor offering two pressures: systolic pressure (the upper number) and diastolic pressure (the lower number).
When purchasing a blood pressure monitor, you should look for the following:
1.      An appropriate cuff size
2.      A validated device that’s shown to offer instantaneous and accurate readings
It is advised that you carry the device with you on your visit to your primary care physician for device calibration to put in place a baseline between readings on your device and clinic BP readings for future reference.
Screening for BP is crucial, especially for individuals 40 year or older and those at greater risk of hypertension, for example, people who are aged, obese or overweight, and those who smoke. Yearly screening is important for these people. For those in the age-group 18-39, doctors recommend screenings every 3-5 years (in-person visit is recommended).
Healthy ways to lower your BP:
1.      Eat healthy (preferably the DASH diet)
2.      Exercise regularly for 30 minutes at least
3.      Quit smoking
4.      Cut down on alcohol
5.      Medications (if prescribed)
Sure signs of hypertension you should keep an eye out for:
High blood pressure is considered the ‘silent killer’ since you never know you have the condition until very late. An average of 116 million Americans has HBP presently. The condition raises risk for stroke and heart disease which are the leading causes of death according to the CDC. Here are the signs you should watch out for so that you can act on time:
1.      Headaches
2.      Chest pain
3.      Fatigue
4.      Tiredness
5.      Difficulty breathing
6.      Confusion
7.      Vision problems
BP monitors indeed are a practical investment for anyone who’d like to keep their BP in check and keep their ticker in good shape.
It is a big deal to learn the lifesaving CPR procedure. Proper application of the procedure can help restore the life of someone struck with a sudden cardiac arrest. For training, register for a CPR class at the AHA accredited CPR Columbus in Ohio. CPR Columbus is located at 5202 Bethel Reed Park Suite 140 Columbus, OH 43220.

What the Hell Universe
Entry 1 Montague
What the actual fuck universe. What have I done in a past life to piss you off so!? What have I done to you to make my life the multi headed dick Hydra that is my current life!
Everything is a burnt husk or ruin. If it's not burnt it's mutated if not burnt and mutated. I mean cockroaches the size of Corgis, angry murder fly-bees that shoot it's larva young at you. I swear if there are mutated spiders the size of dobermans, I'm ending it right now. I will eat that bullet with ketchup(if I can find some) damn nature you scary with a irradiated vengeance.
Okay where to start. first I need something to help get my thoughts in order so diary, Journal, log thingy ,or Incase someone finds this on my corpse out in this hell scape. We're about to get real personal real quick. So I guess I'll start with my name.
My name is Montague Alister Hawk, and I'm a time traveler for the year 2077 pre war America.
How is time travel possible you ask hypothetical reader. Well apparently its one part: ignore your best friend's advice and instincts, one part: submit to the peer pressure from your wife and one part: smooth silver tongue Vault Tec rep, and Two part: the fucking Chinese or American government nuking the shit out of each other! Mix with Corporate America mindset and a dash of Vault Tec experimentation. Poor over the iced tears of the working class and bam you get one maybe two possibly three time travelers.
Gods please let my wife and child be safe. Also thanks for keeping my last bottle of whiskey together for the past 210 years.
Okay so here's the thing, my psychologist doc Anders, said that in times of great stress with nothing to do, is to write down my thoughts or this case type them. So here I am, drinking a the last (possibly unirradiated) bottle Jameson. In the burnt out ruins of my home, with the computer (I scavenged from the drug dealer down the street), and with the hopes my wife and son are alive in this hellscape that is the Boston wasteland as Codsworth dubs it.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact when I woke up this morning in the year of 2077 and now it's 2287. In fact we went into vault 111 around 1000 hrs on Oct 23 and I came out of said vault on Oct 23 1100 hrs. And what's worse is today is still a blur.
It started like any other day, I was shaving my beard off in my preparation for the speech I was suppose to give at the VA. I remember Cods giving me some coffee and the knock on the door from that Vault Tec basterd, my wife pleading with me to just deal with him. Because it was free.
Pffpht nothing is free, "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost.” that is the Law of Equivalent Exchange and I have yet to find a way to circumvent this law, but enough philosophy.
The next thing I remember is hearing my NORAD waring blare on my computer, gathering Cassandra and Shaun. Then booking it towards the vault. the air was thick with fear. There was air raid sirens blaring and vertibirds mobilizing.
If I wasn't in such a panic I would have recognise the first warning something was off. It was the Vault Tec rep having been denied at the gate. The second warning was when we were granted access to the vault even though we finished the paperwork not 30 minutes before. Gods hindsight is 20/20 and a bitch.
I felt it before it went off somehow, all the thing Cassandra and I feared most. The reason I joined the rangers and went to war, was to help prevent what we saw. The reason Cassandra went to law school and put up with those stuff shirts that made up the law community, was to prevent what we saw. All the hardships, late nights, ptsd fueled nightmares, our hopes dreams, and all the hours put to fight the injustice we fought against. All of that time and effort, went up in the ash and dust fueled, mushroom shaped cloud.
I still see it when I close my eyes. Still hear the screams.
Anyway I instinctively grab Cassandra hold her against me as we ducked down against the blast wind as we were lowered into the vault. We hit the bottom and all I can think is how much time we wasted to prevent the unpreventable.
The next hour was a blur again and the next thing I can remember is Cassandra handing me Shaun so she could change into her vault suit. I remember looking into his blue eyes and holding close. Silently promising him the best I could in this fucked up world. Then I looked at my Cassandra, my rock, my harbor in the storm. I looked into the stormy steel eyes and kissed her for all I worth. Hoping my unsaid message of love and devotion was noticed.
Then of course we were interrupted by some Vault Tec asshat in a lab coat telling us it's time to enter our individual decontamination chamber. Hince the third waring something was wrong.
Now thanks to my years in the Rangers I have seen a lot of things. New tech and research of Big MT things but this was no decontamination chamber I have ever seen. In fact it looked more like a sarcophagus pod than a decontamination chamber.
Of course my fears of the future and my small family standing in front of me (and my instincts of finding a safe and secure space for us) distracted my “IT'S A TRAP” instincts. Well that and the armed Vault Tec security officer standing behind the asshat in the lab coat.
We then of course follow instructions and get in to the sarcophagus of decontamination. Luckily Cassandra Shaun and I were able to get pods across from one another and see each other from across the hall via view ports. We hear the computer voice say  “Decontamination start in 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1..” as it hit one Cassandra and I reached for each other then the blackness took me.
The next thing I remember is hearing voices as I was coughing up liquid. Then I see these science types in light blue radiation gear with what looked like Leonardo Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man as a symbol over their right breast, and a man that was definitely a mercenary.
They stop in front of Cassandra's pod, gods knows I tried to get out but I was weak. The merc took a fighting stance pointed his (I'm guessing .44) revolver at Cassandra's view port and nods to the DaVinci wannabe. They activated her pod and as it open I can hear Shaun's cry's. Of course I'm shouting and pounding on my viewport, trying to get people's attention to no avail.
Then the gun shot (definitely .44), and all I can see is Cassandra's shocked face. Then I hear this ungodly roar (I guess it was me by the way that merc and that DaVinci wannabe looked at me) and that fucking merc smiled at me. and I swear to all that is holy, I will find him and wipe that smile off his face with his own gun.
Then blackness again.
I don't know how long I was out but the next thing I hear is a kalaxian blaring over and over again. I shifted and cracked one of my eyes open to immediately shut it again as the low light seared through my brain. Igniting a headache that has yet to leave me. Then all that has happened to this point, slams through my brain. Panicking I look up to my wife's pod to find it empty!
As I slowly get up, ignoring the pain as my muscles scream for me to lay down again, and stumble to the empty open pod. As I reached the pod I fall to my knees, I rub my eyes a couple times in disbelief. Then all I see from my position is a small but dried blood smear and the bloody bullet lodged in the upper corner of the interior pod. I grabbed a flat head screwdriver form the nearby tool box and proceeded to attempt to dialogue the bullet. I can't tell you why it was important but it was.
After sometime I finally work the damn thing out and as it popped out from its position I missed the catch and it bounced to the floor. Wanting that bullet I went after it. Fate must have been with me because it landed next to a blood spot and the broken chain of Cassandra's pendant necklace that she inherited from her mom. As I pick up the pendent I realised that Cassandra rarely took it off and was often a favorite chew toy for Shaun.
The pendet Itself was shaped in the form of a mother (tigers eye) cradling a newborn (lapis lazuli). Behind it was my dented dog tags and behind those Cassandra's wedding band and engagement ring. Unfortunately part of the mother was broken as well my tags were bent  from what looked like a bullet going through or at least ricocheted off them.
Hope then. Not much but enough to move forward.
I look around and see the vault in disrepair as well as the other pods. I get up stretching my muscles and walk to the next pod to the right of mine. The viewport was fogged up so I pull the release switch and the body of ole Bob fell out. He was dead from the looks of it (and no pulse I checked). He seemed to be dead for a while. Then the next pod down (left of mine) to his wife, same condition. So was the next and the next one after that. All dead. Then I see a computer at the beginning of the hall.
I turn on the monitor to see the screen blinking in time with the klaxon, saying cryo Lab 3 critical malfunction. I acknowledge the waring and the klaxon mercifully stop blaring. I continue to read the warning displayed on the screen and discovered that all residents of the pods pronounced were dead. With the exception of my pod and Cassandra's pod. However nothing was timed stamped or dated even.
Diary, Journal, log thingy, or hypothetical reader. I'm going to say right now, I been alone for a long time even during my military service but before I met Cassandra I could handle that feeling and let me try to describe that feeling.
It's like your hollow inside and nothing you do matters. You go through the motions of life, do what's expected of you, try not to make a fuss. Be that man your father wanted, be a pawn in his games. That pawn for the government. Of course I had ambition but it had nowhere to go and it kinda peters out. I joined the military to get away from my father in Texas. Went north to get away from that toxic family but it followed me here and everywhere I went. I was looking to die at the start of Anchorage.
Of course I wasn't wanting to go alone so decided to take as many of those invading Chinese bastards with me. But somehow I lived through that campaign. I was in Washington DC receiving my medals when I met Cassandra and that's the day I finally knew how to live, I wasn't alone anymore.
However in that moment after reading how Everyone in that bay was dead. That lonely feeling hit me full force and truthfully I don't know how I handled the loneliness before. Because for the first time in 10 years I remember what it felt like. I don't know how long I stood there looking at nothing but eventually I moved. Looking at the ground I saw more blood pointing out a side door.
Following the trail, it lead me to a side office that looked like a tornado ransack the place. If I had to guess it was my wifes doing. Because in all the mess was a bloody discarded vault suit, empty packaging of a new suit and the remnants of a first aid kit. I also noticed blood leading in but not out.
Good signs. Like Cassandra's uncle Nick always said, “If there ain't no body, then there ain't nobody dead.”
I proceed through the vault to see if there was any supplies missed, and proceeded after hopefully after Cassandra. As I continued through the vault I saw the evidence of Cassandra throughout the place. Bodies of well squished Radroaches, (which made tracking her easier) messy mess hall (phtb) and other signs of life. Eventually I proceeded to the overseer’s office ransacking what supplies I could along the way. At the overseer's office is where I found my first weapon and information about the vault.
Yeah I remember that dash of experimentation that I told you of for the making of a time traveler? Well it turns out vault-tec was doing social experimentation on us for the long-term effects of cryogenically freezing the human body.
Bastards
At the overseer got what was coming It seems that the security crew pulled a coup de gras after rations was getting low to leave the vault. I can summarize this because I'm standing over the bastards bullet-riddled skeletal remains and by the entries of his computer. Not even sorry
I then proceeded to the access tunnel that the overseer had and came into the supply room where I was able to find a Pip-Boy brand spanking new in the box. After starting it up and getting it tuned to my body I proceeded to the vault door into the entrance of this gods-forsaken tomb.
I was able to reach to the top of the Vault and finally see the destruction of those idiots. If my other description of how fucked our world is, see my earlier description of the world. I will say this however nature is slowly reclaiming what is hers I have no doubt that you'll be able to do it in the next couple thousand years or so. Because life marches on with or without humans.
However there is the problem of me losing the trail of my wife at the top of the vault. So naturally I thought she would head down to the house that we wants to live in that is now a ruin. Funny enough I come across our old robot codsworth still trying to do his programmed duties.so after a not so heartwarming reunion, I found out that Codsworth has not seen my wife and we sweep the neighborhood, looking for supplies and clues of Cassandra or of Shaun's kidnappers, until the sun was on the horizon.
I need to apologize to Codsworth, I don't think he appreciated my smartassery. Though Codsworth did say there was a rainstorm not to long ago but that makes tracking Cassandra that more difficult. However not impossible.
I pray that the gods are still with me on this journey. Lord Hades take the dead into your realm and give them proper rest. Also if you could thank Bob for me, his fallout shelter was still intact and relatively stocked hope he didn't mind. Lady Diana and Lady Freya guide me into the hunt for my wife and son, keep my shots square and true. Odin help me keep my knowledge and strength in this endeavor. Lady Athena help me keep my strategy sound and wit about me. And to Jesus grant mercy to those who stand against me for I will have none to give.
This is Hawk signing off
