Previous Miguelverse Main Masterlist
Kraven didn't dally and ordered the camp to be settled. The spot was rather good. A prime source of water and food next to you all, soil sturdy and perfect for withstanding the hard hammering of the tools that nailed the bases for the tents.
And after hours of bickering, russian cursing, more work and the crew doctor patching your arm up, the camp was settled and food served.
Each bite not only felt heavenly, but was scarfed down. You couldn't care less if Peter looked your way, mildly disgusted and surprised of your manners, or rather the lack of them while eating.
It was the least you deserved after surviving a ship sinking, getting lost in the jungle, being chased by a giant Jaguar and a man that left more questions than answers.
Who was he? More important, How had he survived all these years on his own?
After a second plate and extra slices of bread, one of the men approached and announced the readiness of your tent. One of the things you asked in your contract. To have your own, cause as much as you trusted Peter, there was nothing better than to have your own space and privacy in the midst of an unhealthy amount of testosterone surrounding you.
"We've eaten, replenished, and blah blah. What happened?" Peter mumbled while picking his and your plate together.
You shook your head softly as another crew member passed by. You didn't trust them, and Kraven had proved to be unpredictable.
One minute he cared for his crew and the other he was leaving you to fend for yourselves. But as long as you did your job, you wouldn't be part of the russian's guessing dangerous games.
"Kraven said we'd have to make do with the little tools we have. He spent a good time of the day trying to get some signal for the radio."
"Any luck?"
"None so far." Peter mumbled as he took your things inside your tent.
A hammock was the bed, a few boxes and other storage things were placed in a corner. A chalkboard and your investigation books in another corner and against all odds, a little broken mirror that acted as a poor attempt of a vanity ontop of another wooden box. Your hairbrush rested next to it. Whoever arranged it, at least had the consideration to make it as comfortable looking as possible.
In total, you had a couple of shirts and skirts left to use. The rest remained on the sea, floating and drifting away with unknown course.
Peter excused to go change himself and you seized the chance to do the same. Catching a cold in the jungle wasn't in your priorities list. Not with reduced medicine and victuals.
You put on a dry set and combed your hair out as much as you could. Peter joined you a couple of minutes later.
The fire cracked and sparked alive as the crew surrounded it. The day had been chaotic at best and everyone tried to soothe the nerves in their own way. Some drank, others sang, others talked and soon Kraven joined.
Others simply went to sleep. Too tired to keep up after a well deserved meal.
"So..." Peter started while sitting before you, a rag and some tubs on his hands. He was cleaning the remaining pieces of your equipment.
"Promise me you won't talk to anyone about this. And I mean it, Parker."
"I'm a geologist, not a snitch."
"I'm... kinda scared of what might happen if Kraven finds out"
"Now you're scaring me.  What happened back there?"
"I know... who killed the beast Kraven is skinning." A gulp rolled down your throat upon remembering the lurid scene displaying before your eyes
"Wait... you said, who?"
A nod from you and Peter paled.
"We're not alone, that's for sure."
Peter rubbed his hands against his face, an exasperated groan escaped him.
"He's taller than Kraven."
"Bullshit." Peter mumbled almost immediate, surprised at your words.
"I'm not bullshittin' you Parker!" You had to hush your voice and soon grabbed a sketch notebook and begun tracing and drawing.
"He's freaking tall, long hair and he's naked. Well, not naked but a loincloth is everything but clothes if you think about it."
Peter frowned suspiciously as his hand pressed on your skin, to see if your body temperature had increased. Jungle fever was one of the worst things a human could suffer when away from their homeland. Cause he refused to believe anything of the nonsense that came out of your mouth was true.
A man taller than Sergei? Impossible. He was tall, but Sergei had been one of the tallest and well built men he had ever came across with.
"What are you doing?" You pushed his hands away and frowned.
"I'm sorry, I do want to believe you but.."
"I'm telling you the truth, Pete! He had... This... red hue on his eyes and fangs!"
"Fangs?" The incredulity in Peter couldn't be hidden the more he listened to your apparent rave.
"He's fucking strong, Pete. He was holding that beast by his tail! and then fought body to body against it! and He's so damn touchy. No respect for personal space!."
"And what? He smashed the jaguar to death and then kissed you?"
"Yes!" You nodded but quickly frowned when Peter tittered on his seat, unable to keep the mirth away.
"Why are you laughing?!"
"I'm sorry. You know we've been friends since college, but you seriously can't expect me to believe that, Dally."
A short for Dalhberg. The surname that put your name out in the researcher's map in London, upon discovering and naming another type of daisy and named it after you. The Dalhberg Daisy.
"You believe in the freaking Queen but refuse to believe in this?"
"I believe in the Queen's acquisitive power, nothing else. Cause I've seen it!" He explained, skeptical.
You showed him the sketch and shoved it to his hands.
"Look at that! That's exactly how he looks like!"
Peter sighed and raked over his eyes on the semi-crumpled paper sheet. Sharp features, a strong jaw and deep eyes.
"Yeah, a haircut would make him look better though." he chuckled, "Look, I know it's been a long day for us... let's rest, ok? We've got another tomorrow."
With a frown you removed the sketchbook away and tossed it on the makeshift vanity.
"He's real." you pointed at the sketchbook
"Okay, okay. He's real. We can discuss it all tomorrow when we're less tired, alright?"  He held your shoulders, trying to ease your rising anger.
But you quickly removed his hands from you, hurt that your best friend didn't believe you. "Whatever. Goodnight."
Peter left with a defeated sigh and soon you cuddled in your hammock.
"I know he's real." With a huff, you pushed the pillow closer to your face, letting the day's weight to finally crash on you.
-----
The loud bangs of a gunshot echoed through the bright blue skies, frightening any local fauna that rested comfortably, like you, that nearly fell out the hammock from the initial jumpscare.
With a heavy exhale, and rub of your eyes you geared up for the day.
This time Kraven was thoughtful enough to give you a weapon. A small knife with enough sharp to slice and dice through anything weak enough to perish under the blade.
And soon everyone gathered to the morning structions. Kraven split up the crew in three parts. The first group of men would go to the beach to recover as much equipment as they could. The second group would be in charge to set up traps and hunt down for food. And the third one, meaning Peter, you, two more men and himself would go explore and study the jungle in order to gain any sort of information of new potential species.
You carried a small backpack, filled with your sketchbook, pencils, some essay and sample tubes and some snacks in case Kraven decided to return until dinner time.
And after a quick breakfast of oatmeal and fruits, everyone left.
Peter walked behind Sergei, guiding the group whenever the mercenary asked him to. You were in the middle as the other two men trailed with their guns behind.
Morning slowly poured into hours. Tortuous, running at the speed of a snail. Each breathing felt like adding more to the waiting, bringing your nerves to a much annoyed stance.
But it quickly melted away upon finding your first discovery.
The grass laid pressed in a circular pattern on the ground. The leaves were placed strategically, as if used as cushions in great amounts. A couple of fruit carcasses laid next to them. Discarded and forgotten.
"Look at that" The excitement in your voice beyond evident. You crouched to see if there was any other clues to your growing suspicion.
Kraven and Peter stopped upon you crouching to the floor.
"What is it?" Kraven pulled his gun from it's holster and walked over you.
"These are nests!"
"Nests?" His brow quirked and you nodded vigorously, to then count the spots. Around six in total.
"You know what that means? They live in packs! Gorillas live in packs!"
"About damn time we found something." Kraven nodded, pleased as he helped you up to then mark a spot in his map.
"Good job, Dalhberg."
Praised the mercenary before moving.
--
When the sun got high enough and Peter discovered some other findings like rare minerals, the group decided to take a break nearby a lake.
The five of you sat down and ate whatever thing you got left from breakfast.
Once you were done, you took your backpack, pencil and sketchbook with you.
"Where are you going?" Kraven grumbled after gulping down the water from his canteen.
"Saw some specimens of plants Id like to register. Won't take long."
"You better return as soon as possible, understood?"
The mercenary warned and you nodded while walking away from the tree. Excited to partake in the things you were brought and paid to do.
Your first specimen was a moss plant, then a new type of orchid. A fish, some birds and more plants. Even though you studied everything alive, the plants were your speciality.
You put the little backpack in a a nearby trunk as you sat down to draw yet another orchid. The place seemed flooding with them.
Engrossed beyond wits to notice you had drifted off a bit too far from the group and a little too late a baboon sniffing and ransacking your backpack.
"H-Hey! Hey! -The baboon took the backpack away, excited and driven by the tinkling within "Get back here!"
The animal hopped on the trees before you could catch it, with graceful and effortless agility, to finally stop to a sturdy looking and serpent-like shaped trunk above the middle of a swamp.
As much as you wanted to let the monkey get away with it all, you didn't want to face Kraven's anger for losing the last bit of equipment and delay the investigation. You didn't know when the next ship would arrive. None did actually.
It's hoots and chirping only increased the more things he pulled out of your backpack. The tubs shattered as they fell off.
"Stop it!" you shrieked while hopping onto the trunk with wobbly and uneven steps.
The monkey hooted louder until it started shrieking, as if mocking you whenever your balance failed and you were forced to crawl over the top.
"God, I swear... if I catch you, I'm so making an article on how annoying you are!"
The baboon just screeched at your silly threat once more before leaving your backpack pending from a twig as he jumped way through the stretched branches that favored him like open arms, with your bag of seeds.
Your breath hitched when the trunk creaked and some cracking around the base perked up your ears.
Shit.
You couldn't stop and return crawling from where you came from, not when the backpack was oh so close to be reached and your nightmare to be over.
With a deep breath, you crawled closer and closer. Paused breaths turned controlled, but quickly grunted when the hem of your skirt stuck in a jagged branch.
"No, no" You whined and pulled away, the trunk creaked harder and you immediately hugged the trunk.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck-" with a firm yet calculated yank, you ripped the fabric away, freeing yourself although losing a good chunk of front coverage.
A thunderous crack made your breath hitch and you moved forward as the trunk stuttered midair. It was then your eyes actually considered the generous and dangerous distance from your position to the murky water. But the backpack dangling before you, edged you to take a risky decision.
Or you took the backpack and threw it on land, hoping to take the least damage as possible or jumping to that other branch to avoid falling to the water.
None of them happened as the tree dipped forward, and with a dying groan, the cracks widened, tearing the feeble base of the trunk, unable to support your weight any longer.
As in slow motion, you saw the murky water closer and closer and closer, until nothing but darkness swallowed you whole. Cold and muddy water hit you, suffocating your body with enraged water that fought hard to drown you.
Your hands were the only thing that made it out as they failed. The sub aquatic flora begun their tangling in your boots and legs, pulling you down.
Your lungs burned as some water seeped through, the backpack sunk deeper and deeper. Like a sacrifice in exchange of your life. Because a strong pair of tanned hands pulled you with a powerful yank by the forearm, out of the water before death and crocodiles owned it.
Your head too dizzy to actually understand what was happening. Your eyes could only see the landscape sliding smoothy underneath your feet, like if you were flying.
Am I dead? Dead people don't fly, do they?
You shrieked as soon as your eyes looked upwards. Powerful and solid thighs held tightly on the growing vines, that spurted from underneath the gigantic trees, as one of his hand took your arm gently to suddenly pull you up in the air and catch you in his arms.
Your instincts told you to hold onto him as the other survival mode blared with danger alarms. The massive wall of solid muscles he had for a body was warm, full of scars and plush hair that did nothing but welcome your dizzy head on his chest.
The man quirked a brow at your sudden state. He frowned and quickly got over the foliage of a tree, before the pouring rain trapped you both.
You were put with ease against the solid and definitely not rotting trunk, and your body lurched to the side to expell away the swallowed water, clearing your airways.
A firm slap from his hand made your lungs to finally get some air as you gasped and coughed, all the while he watched you curiously.
You were drenched, against a tree, clothes sticking way too intimately against your shivering body, breathing like you were a first born, raged and fast. Lungs burned less.
Eyes finally widened when recognizing the man before you. Some fresh scars littered his Greek-god type physique.
"T-Thank you." You mumbled through clattering teeth and forced yourself to take a deep inhale to control the rising anxiety.
He grunted and approached. One of his hands slid gently under your chin to take a hold of your cheek. Your head instinctively melted into his heavenly body heat, and your eyes dared to shut for a minute. Relishing in the irradiating warmth his calloused hands provided.
He's so warm.
As if sensing the good deed, the man rubbed his hands on your cold arms, mindful of the patches around your arm, a couple of times before going back up to your cheeks and neck.
You gasped as soon as his hands were placed on your chest. His hands gently palming your breast but quickly let them go upon feeling your hardened nipples. You quickly covered your chest
He watched his hands, as if inspecting them for any damage when he felt the hardened nub, to then return to your arms, prying them away from your chest.
"Wait!"
You shrieked and he took both of your wrists with one hand and hovered them above your head, squishing them against the tree, softly. His eyes raked and took in every feature of you, before stopping at your chest again.
Your breath hitched as he slid the other hand inside your shirt. Cheeks turned impossibly warmer when he took one of your breasts and pulled it out of their confinements.
He examinated the perky mound with puppy wonder-like curiosity and then looked down his own chest. He frowned. His didn't swell like yours did.
"Wh-What are you doi-" you bit your lip as he poked your nipple, sniffed it and licked it. Earning a short mewl from you.
The sound startled him and he let you go.
"T- That's not a polite thing to do!"
You quickly put the breast back and swung your hand to slap him. You had to admit his reflexes were something else cause it caught it before it collided against his face.
"How dare you?!" You struggled to let your hand go, but stopped your outburst when his eyes watched your hands and brought them before his ever curious face.
His own hand reached up, and placed itself before yours, comparing the stretched and long digits against your smaller ones. They weren't the same size, that was much true, but the texture and lines he had were the same on yours.
His eyes shone brighter than any  bewilderment. His mind had finally clicked together at the sudden epiphany that flooded his brain.
You were like him.
He pursed his lips before letting out an excited grunt. He backed away to create enough space for his arms to move freely.
He pointed to himself and spoke with the deepest yet excited voice he could manage.
"Miguel."
Your eyes went wide and you approached. He tried again while pointing at his chest.
"Mi guel."
"Miguel." His nose flared proudly and his throat grunted happily.
"Oh! I see!"
His ears perked up upon hearing your name.
"OhIsee!" He repeated.
But you quickly corrected him, with your name as you pointed to yourself and then called his name as you pointed at him.
A buttery crawl rolled down your spine as he mumbled your name.
"Exactly." you smiled.
He cupped your face again and mumbled your name once more. However, the sound of a gunshot tearing through the skies disrupted his attention from you and stood at the edge of the branch.
"Kraven" You gasped. Completely forgetting about him and the group.
Oh no...
Trouble was a tiny word of the deep neck shit you were into. Another shot rippled through, frightening the birds in the ratio.
"Kraven!" He repeated, excited.
Extraordinary. There wasn't any word to describe him better. He took you back, trapping you in between his muscular thighs and swinging through vines.
The more you approached the camp, the clearer you saw this massive black and brown spots moving away from the settlement.
Your hearth thumped with violence upon finally standing before a small group of gorillas, sniffing and hooting softly upon seeing Miguel.
Your savior wasted no time in pulling you closer to them. You shook your head, rightfully frightened.
"No, no, no wait!"
The gorillas huffed to then sniff your head, your clothes. Some even pulled at your hair softly, others examinated the clothes you were in.
Another gunshot echoed closely this time and it was loud enough to spook out the beasts out that pulled Miguel with them. You could only watch him, wide eyed, expectant. But he left.
"Miguel..."
----
Kraven wasn't one for losing his temper with women. But you, had the annoying ability to make his patiece turn to dust in the least opportunes of moments.
"I asked you, where the fuck have you been?!"
He dragged you to the center of the crew and threw you on the floor.
"I told you, I almost drowned! Why do you think I'm like this?!"
Kraven spat a few words in his native language under his breath and grunted
"You lost your equipment, didn't you?"
"I... I tried to get it back but I almost drown in the swamp, Sergei!" you explained with nothing but the truth
"You can't swim, don't you bullshit me.!"
"I'm telling you the truth!"
"Then how you survived!?"
Peter frowned as he looked at you.
"I was saved. Ok? A man saved me!"
"A man?"
"He's... Not like us. He's taller than you and he saved me!" you kept pressing, hoping the angered mercenary understood that you didn't do anything in purpose to upset him.
"He knows how to swing through the vines! And dropped me here! His name is Miguel. "
Everyone stared with derision at you and Peter seemed concerned you stuck with your story so bad to the point of risking your own neck and reputation.
Kraven' brows furrowed into a scowl and soon he pulled his revolver out and pointed at you.
Your face turned to panic, as your hands rose shakily.
"A savage named Miguel helped you?"
"He did! Otherwise you'd still be looking for me."
Kraven snorted without removing the gun's aim from your body.
"Funny you think I'd waste my resources to look up for a stupid woman like you."
"Please, you have to believe me! I saw gorillas around the camp!"
Kraven removed the safety pin from the revolver, as if peeved you'd waste his time and resources into being an idiot and not doing your work as he required.
Time was ticking and he still had no news, and for you to be fantasizing about savages and doing stupid things such as endangering yourself had proved you weren't reliable.
"You're not reliable, anymore, Dahlberg."
"No! Sergei listen to me-"
He pointed the gun once more to you "I can't keep unreliable people within my crew."
"I'm not lying!" You pleaded with all your might and tears in your eyes, "Miguel is-"
Before Sergei could push the tip of his revolver on your head and shoot, the earth underneath rumbled, as Miguel fell in between you.
Real.
Kraven stepped back as the imaginary savage was now fully standing before him. His head had to crane up to meet his burning ember eyes.
Miguel's lips snarled at him, showing his fangs and beating his chest. A clear challenge for him to fight him.
A collective round of gasps echoed through the men, but when Miguel bared his teeth, they all pulled their guns and pointed at him
"Stop!" You yelled and quickly scrambled to your feet to take Miguel's hand and shake your head with determination.
"Don't hurt him!"
Peter immediately got himself before you and rose his arms, showing he was no armed.
"I'm sure we can reach an agreement here without filling eachother with bullets, gentlemen"
"Shut up, Parker!" Sergei seethed and with a deep flare of his nose, pointed the gun at Miguel again, but Peter grabbed the weapon and the shot tore through the air again.
"Kraven" Miguel grumbled at the gun shot sound.
Said mercenary could only watch him, nonplussed for a moment. While you, again, stood your ground before the behemoth of a man. Attempting your best at protecting him.
"Have... we met before?" Kravinoff spoke confused.
"I told you he could speak! And he is real!"
Miguel remained glued at your side. Everyone slowly put their weapons down as Kraven approached to take a proper look at Miguel, fascinated by his sheer size and build.
Peter had to admit, that it was the last time he'd ever doubt your words.
"You said you had seen gorillas?"
Again, you nodded and Miguel repeated the word.
"Miguel knows them. He could help us."
"Help us? The man barely understand us, but... It's better than nothing I suppose."
Sergei scrunched his face in confusion as Miguel took strands of your hair and sniffed them, his senses awakening in pure adrenaline. Throat grunted approvingly.
"Yeah... kind of understand the personal space thing now." Peter cleared his throat behind you. The rest kept looking to see but quickly were dismissed by their leader.
"Oh, shut up." You grumbled nervously as Miguel pulled your head to his chest once more, to listen to his powerful heartbeats.
"Yeah, it's very very nice." You chuckled nervously with a soft flush creeping your cheek.
"Nice." He repeated.
Kraven could only watch but if he was the link towards the gorillas, he'd seize the chance in every way he could.
"He's way smarter than you think."
"We're running against time, how would he understand us, Dhalberg?"
Miguel moved to inspect Kraven, mimicking his gestures effortlessly. Earning a giggle from you.
"Leave that to me."

the mountains of Colorado- j.elordi
Tumblr media
masterlist
pairing: jacob elordi x reader
warnings: fluff + short lil ramble!
a/n: it’s not very long just a sweet ramble ☺️
an escape from the media, reality, and the cameras was what he needed. he loves the attention and the fortune that comes with his job, he’s able to take you to such secluded places like where you are now. somewhere in the middle of the mountains in Colorado.
neither of you have any clue of time, phones having died a long time ago, but seeing the sun slowly fade beyond the horizon you figure it’s beginning to get late.
he’s watching the chicken that’s roasting over a fire, while you’re in the trees with a hammock journaling about the nature and peace of the mountains. there’s not a soul for days, just the two of you and animal life.
“it’s ready.” he calls, nearly burning himself from opening the hot tin foil with chicken that’s for char marks from the hot coal. you climbed out of your hammock, making your way over to the camp chairs where he’s seated.
you slip beside him, watching him plate the can of beans, chicken, and potatoes. he’s a good chef, despite his many attempts at burning your kitchen down he knows how to make a good meal in the middle of chaos.
you watch the birds above you two, singing and playing with others, the only sound being them and the crackle of the fire brings peace to his own heart. nature was the best get away, and being able to share this with you was an experience.
never did he ever think he’d wake in the morning being in the middle of a tent; sweet soft kisses being pressed to his face, birds chirping and owls hooting. but he needed this in preparation for the upcoming films and shows, before the chaos erupts once again.
you’d happily travel to any end of the world with him, even if it was in the middle of the mountains of Colorado.

one bed troupe w/ Beel
a/n if this makes little to no sense it's because i'm writing this while tired lol
It was yet another day of fun. Everything had been perfect up until the end of that day. After hearing you’d never been before, Beel immediately vowed to take you camping. Like the real deal camping. He spent at least an hour trying to pick the best spot to take you, and while he was usually very willing to take others with him on these kinds of expeditions, he didn't allow anyone else except his twin to come along, who surprisingly said no. Usually, he would say yes, to get away from Lucifer and to enjoy the night sky, but it appeared as if he had something up his sleeve. Strange, but not too out of character for him. You left for your trip shortly after, and most everything had gone smoothly.
That morning, you’d awoken to the sound of Beel’s stomach from outside your tent, signaling it was time to make breakfast. After a simple breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast, Beel decided it was finally time to take you kayaking on the nearby river. You opted to spend a little time enjoying the nature in a hammock he’d set up while he got everything you needed and mapped your route and fell asleep in it. When he came back from getting the two kayaks, he accidentally hit your and flipped you out of the hammock. After the initial confusion had ended, you both got a laugh out of it.
The kayaking down the river was also loads of fun. The scenery was very pretty and you saw several kinds of birds that you hadn’t seen from your camp site. Since you were each in your own vessel, once you got tired, all you had to do was tether yourself to Beel’s, and he towed you along behind him. Originally, you’d planned to have just one tandem for the both of you, but you figured you’d be basically up in the air with how uneven then weight distribution would be. So, he packed a length of rope to tether you to him if you needed a break, which you did. The scenery was very pretty, and just laying back and enjoying the tree coverage was enough for you.
However, upon arriving back, you discovered something had happened to your campsite. Your tent, and a couple things near it had been basically crushed by a large branch you'd set up under on purpose. You had both just been sitting in that very branch yesterday, and it seemed fine. The things outside the tent were alright, and so were a couple things inside. But unfortunately the two most important things were damaged: your tent itself, and your sleeping bag. An offshoot of the large branch had punctured both of your things, making them unusable until you could get them fixed, if possible. You shuddered thinking about what may have happened to you if you were inside the tent when that fell. Beel seemed to have the same thought, as he immediately proposed moving his tent to a space with no tree coverage, and that he'd share it with you.
After working together to move the remaining intact tent and packing up yours as best as possible, you spent the rest of the day as normal. You did another hike that afternoon, and enjoyed dinner together, before having to revisit the sleeping situation.
"You can change inside the tent. I'll turn around." Beel already had his back to you as he began packing up your things from your meal. Thankfully, your bag of things, including your clothes was alright, albeit a little dirty.
"Thanks, Beel." You made your way into his tent, where he'd set it back up the way he had it before you'd moved it together. It was pretty tidy. You had already placed your bag next to his. You opened it and quickly changed into your sleep clothing. For a moment, you lingered in the tent. While you'd only given it a little thought, now the idea was really sinking in: you'd have to share that sleeping bag with Beel. Not that you were opposed to the idea, as the two of you had slept in the same room before, and he only snored a little. The mere thought of being that close to him for that amount of time flustered you. After all, you'd been given a few piggyback rides over the course of your trip together, and that was more than enough proof that he felt as chiseled as he looked. Knowing he needed your help cleaning up for the night, you abandoned that thought temporarily.
"I'm done. Feel free to head in. I can finish putting out the fire." You smiled at him.
"Thanks. I'll be quick." He ducked into the tent you'd just felt, leaving you alone in the night to contemplate the day, and how misfortunate you'd been. As unlucky as that fallen branch may had been, maybe it was your blessing in disguise. While you now needed some way to get it repaired, you now got to spend the rest of the trip snuggled up with the best hugger you'd ever met nightly. Looking on the bright side was all you could do.
Soon enough, it was time to head to bed. You headed into the tent, zipping it shut. It felt much smaller when the both of you were in it at the same time. You weren't really sure what to do, so you just hovered by the exit, looking anywhere but the sleeping bag. Beel seemed to have no problem, and headed right over to it. After sliding it, he held it open with one arm.
"Here, Mc. Are you coming?" After he said this to you, you snapped out of your daze, and, while a little apprehensive, you got in with him. Your bodies were flush to each other, being forced to make eye contact the way you were laying. The sleeping bag was made for his height, so your feet didn't reach the bottom like he did. You stared at each other in silence for a moment. Not really knowing what to do with your arms, you tucked both of them under your head to act as a pillow. You were kind of afraid you'd start snuggling him in the middle of the night. Beel, on the other hand, seemed like he had no such fear, and put both of his arms around you.
"So, anything you have planned for tomorrow for us?" You tried your best to break the silence and to make things less awkward. That effort was mostly for you, since Beel seemed totally comfortable. It was like, to him, this was normal.
"Well, since we've done a few hikes already, and you seemed fine, I figured we could hike one of the harder trails up the nearby mountain. We have to pass through a small town on the way there, so we can stop at a restaurant." You began to laugh as you felt his stomach grumble. Your laughing made him smile. In that moment, the entire situation seemed like something that happened before a million times, and this was part of your nightly routine.
"Alright. Sounds good to me. Well, good night. Thanks for letting me share with you." You deemed going to sleep would help you escape the initial awkwardness of this situation, so you shut your eyes. You were pretty tired anyways. Soon enough, the both of you were asleep.
As he usually did, Beel awoke in the middle of the night, hungry. However, he remembered pretty quickly he wasn't alone that night. Sometimes, he wandered into your room after he was finished raiding the fridge, but it felt so much more warm and welcoming to wake up in a warm bed. Well, sleeping bag. Despite initially laying on your arms, they had found their way onto him and had intertwined your legs together. Your head was pressed into his neck, one arm wrapped around his torso, one underneath him somehow. He rolled the both of you over so you were on top of him to take any pressure off of your limbs. The way you shifted after he rolled caused you to snuggle him more.
Suddenly, he didn't feel so hungry anymore. It was like his hunger had finally been satiated for once in his life. He hardly remembered the feeling it'd been that long. The sight of you fast sleep, slightly smiling against his skin was more than enough for him and filled him with something he couldn't quite explain.
With the warm, fuzzy feeling in mind, he was able to drift back to sleep. Maybe he needed to start doing this more often.

NETEYAM + ACTS OF SERVICE
His heart melts whenever you’d do things for him
It could be as simple as helping put away his hammock
To him, it’s almost as if you’re helping lift the burden of future Olo’eyktan
It’s really a sign of how much you care, the fact that you’d take time out of your day to help with his workload?
He couldn’t ask for anything better
• ᣞ ˳ ꒪ ۫ ⁎ ♡⃝ ˳ ꒪ ۫ ⁎ ᣞ
It had been a long and stressful day for Neteyam, his warrior’s training was getting more gruelling by the day and it felt as if his father just wouldn’t stop going at him. All he wanted right now was to return home to you and wrap his arms around you. When his Ikran finally lands in High Camp, he wastes no time in rushing to your shared tent, pushing back the tent’s flap only to find you sitting cross-legged on the floor.
You looked busy.
“What are you doing, syulang?”
But as he moved around to look at your face properly, he also saw exactly what had been keeping your hands so busy. You were organising his arrows, going as far as to add fresh new colourful feathers to the back of the shaft.
“I had nothing to do,” you started, “and I just thought your arrows were looking a bit shabby.” You shrugged your shoulders as if it was nothing, just a small gesture out of the pureness of your heart. And maybe it wasn’t that big of a deal at all, but to Neteyam? It meant so much that you’d go out of your way to do something for him, so that he wouldn’t have to.
He doesn’t waste a second, picking you up off the ground and wrapping you in a warm embrace, rocking you back and forth gently. “Thank you,” he whispered into your hair.
You giggled at his actions, “it’s really not that big of a deal ‘teyam.”
“Well, it means the world to me.”

LO'AK + WORDS OF AFFIRMATION
Babyboy needs that constant reminder that he’s doing his best
“Thank you for doing….”
“That means so much! Thank you.”
“I’m proud of you.”
“I see you.”
We all saw the way he got absolutely rizzed up when Reya said that to him so 👀
Also u know that one scene when Reya throws the shell and Lo’ak goes to get it? When he resurfaces he immediately goes “Reya!” and waits for her to acknowledge his achievement.
HE’S SO BABY-
• ᣞ ˳ ꒪ ۫ ⁎ ♡⃝ ˳ ꒪ ۫ ⁎ ᣞ
It had been merely a few months since the Sully’s set foot on the sandy coasts of Awa’atlu, but nonetheless you and Lo’ak had grown incredibly close with each other. With you as his mentor and friend over those months, it was hard not to grow fond of him. But right now, the two of you were busy searching the shallow rock pools for some fish.
You decided it was about time for Lo’ak to learn how to spear-hunt properly. If he wanted to join the hunting parties, this skill was vital.
The spear in your hand began to feel heavy with how much you were using it. Your eyes flicked back up to Lo’ak, a frustrated frown marring his features. He mumbled something under his breath in agitation, and you felt your heart twist softly at how much he was beating himself up for it.
“Hey,” you started, trying to grab his attention which he gave to you without a second’s hesitation. “You’re doing really well, just try this…”
You adjusted Lo’ak’s grip on the spear ever so slightly, “and loosen up a little,” you encouraged.
The boy looked up at you with watchful eyes, you could tell he was soaking in as much information as he could - but in some deep part of his brain, he felt his heart set off at your casual compliment.
You’re doing really well.
He thought about the words for a moment, smiling to himself. You noticed immediately.
“What’s got you smiling like that?”
You watched Lo’ak struggle with his words, a deeply toned blush spreading across his features, “nothing.” He tried to hide it as quickly and casually as possible.
“Okay.” You said giggling, deciding to go easy on the teasing just this once.

KIRI + QUALITY TIME
Kiri wants nothing more than to spend all the time in the world with you
She’s literally stealing you away at any moment she can get
Late night walks on the beach are her favourite
Loves, loves, loves just cuddling with you and talking about your day together
• ᣞ ˳ ꒪ ۫ ⁎ ♡⃝ ˳ ꒪ ۫ ⁎ ᣞ
It was a slow quiet night in the forest, the crowd in the eating hall was starting to die down at last. You searched the remaining crowd expectantly, trying to look over the heads of the Na’vi in front of you when you felt someone sneak up behind you.
“Boo!”
Although you knew full well who it was, the suddenness of the surprise still caught you off guard. You laughed at her playful behaviour, wrapping your arms around her waist.
“I missed you,” you confessed - and rightfully so. You had spent the entire day in classes and running errands and yet all you had yearned for is to spend time with Kiri. and anyways, you knew full well that she wanted nothing more than that too.
“Then let’s get out of here.” She said easily, taking your hand in hers as she steals you away from the eating hall to spend some alone time with you. Kiri led you through the forest, the bioluminescent glow lighting up the night.
Now, the two of you lay underneath the stars, your head resting comfortably on the mossy ground below, one leg thrown over her as your hands were intertwined. The stars glimmered and shone, twinkling to create the perfect ambience for the moment. You played with her fingers softly, enjoying her presence.
She asked you of your day and you told her everything, the good and bad - and she listened. Kiri was fully content with being with you, just bathing in your presence. She couldn’t have asked for anything more
Tumblr media
TSIREYA + RECEIVING GIFTS
Tsireya loves giving and receiving gifts more than anything i just know it
She’d absolutely MELT if you ever gave her a gift of any sort
Especially if it’s handmade just for her, she loves personal gifts
Honestly though, you could gift her seaweed and she’d love it because “it’s the thought that counts”
• ᣞ ˳ ꒪ ۫ ⁎ ♡⃝ ˳ ꒪ ۫ ⁎ ᣞ
You looked down at the little leaf package in your hand. The crisp green wrapping held together by a woven piece of string which you had decorated with Tsireya’s favourite coloured beads. It was a gift for the girl who you loved the most. You had wanted to give it to her on the day of her Iknimaya celebrations but it still wasn’t ready yet - so now on her 17th birthday you decide it’s the right time.
The beach is basked in the soft golden glow of the setting sun as you wait for Tsireya to arrive. This was your spot. The one you two shared. If one of you was upset and had disappeared, the other would know exactly where you were. Right here.
You heard the sound of sand shuffling behind you, you immediately knew exactly who it was. Two hands reach up and cover your eyes from behind.
“Guess who?”
It was obvious. Her sweet scent paired with her honey voice? Who else could it be besides your Tsireya.
“Hm..” You hummed in faux contemplation. “Ao’nung? Is that you?”
She scoffed before laughing sweetly. “That’s not even a compliment.”
Her easy way of talking and making you laugh eased your nerves significantly. She sat down next to you on the sandy beach, placing her hands in her lap as she looked at you expectantly. “So why are we here?” She asked.
You mustered up as much courage as you could, “Well, firstly, happy 17th birthday,” She smiled immediately, “I wanted to give you this first, before the whole celebration and everything…”
Your voice trailed off quietly as you handed her the leaf package, watching her features that immediately light up at the sight.
“Oh oeyä sum,” My seashell. It was a nickname she gave you long before either of you even professed your love for eachother.
She carefully unwrapped the leaves of the package, revealing an intricately carved bracelet inside. Each bead was carved and softened from a seashell, with a heart shaped crystal in the centre of the bracelet like a charm.
Tsireya’s heart damn near actually melted at the sight. “You made this?” She asked, as if it was impossible to believe “for me?” But the Metkayian girl knew full well that you’d go to the ends of the earth just for her.
“Just for you.”
Tumblr media
AO'NUNG + PHYSICAL TOUCH
Boy is never not touching you
And it doesn’t have to be in an intimate way
He’s always just having his hands linger a little too long
Or holding your hand under the table
He’s playing with your hair when you lay down on his chest
His friends are SICK of it but he couldn’t give a shit
Would kill and maim just to get to hold you for a second
• ᣞ ˳ ꒪ ۫ ⁎ ♡⃝ ˳ ꒪ ۫ ⁎ ᣞ
The day was beginning to come to its end and you had no other intention in mind than to find Ao’nung and fall asleep in his arms.
The entire day consisted of gentle, lingering touches. Just a soft brush as he walked by, hand barely touching yours but enough that it made you want to turn around and hold his hand properly. You tried to distract yourself as you walked across the spongy walkways of Awa’atlu in search of your lover.
You grew increasingly frustrated as the minutes passed, and just as you let a huff escape past your lips - you felt the soft comfort of two strong arms snaking around your waist, Ao’nung’s head coming to rest in the crook of your neck.
“Missed you,” he murmured, pressing a lingering kiss to the curve of your neck.
You hummed in response, “Yes, I could tell.”
Ao’nung turned your body around to face him in his grasp, it was hard not to get lost in his ocean blue eyes. Silently, without a word, he led you away from the vulnerability of the open walkways in the village and to a secluded part of the beach. He sat with his back against a thick mangrove root, your body situated between his legs with your head resting on his chest. His hands busied themselves as they played with your soft hair. All he wanted in this moment was you, just to hold you, to know that you were his.
The two of you talked of your busy days exactly what had kept you from seeing each other. Ao’nung complained about his warriors training and you listened contently as his hands slipped down to play with your fingers. “And you?” He asked in return when he finished talking.
You didn’t answer immediately, instead pressing your body further into his wanting to be enveloped by all of his warmth. You wanted him to wrap his arms around you like a comforting blanket.
“It’s better now that I’m with you.”

Chapter desc:
Kiri convinced y/n to unload some of her lingering feelings for Neteyam. Y/n reveals that the incident all those years ago that took her parents scarred her deeper than she could have ever anticipated. Is this a battle the mighty archer can’t win? Neteyam has a confrontation with a pathetically simpering Kyuna.
Authors note:
Here we go! Chapter 3!! It feels insane to be posting the actual third  chapter of this. But holy moly, building up romance is much harder than I thought. This chapter is a long one so grab your favorite snack, find a comfy spot and buckle up.
I have a small request for my lovely virago readers, please comment on your favorite line, moment, quote, or dynamic from this chapter. This is so I can know what kind of stuff you guys incline towards so I can throw more of it in as the story continues.
IMPORTANT:
hi guys. So I’ve decided to change spiders age from 20 to 19 for plot purposes. Jake and Neytiri are the same age. Tuk is still 7. Kiri is 19, neteyam is 19, Lo’ak and Y/n are 18.
This chapter is split into 3 parts due to tumblers dumbass word limit. This is part 1.
                                                                   V I R A G O
Chapter 3;
Cupid Wears A Blindfold.
Y/n’s pov-
Word count: 28k (split)
Lo’ak snores. He snores a lot.
This was no epiphany to you, of course. Lo’ak had always been a snorer, much like Jake.
Ever since the sully’s welcomed you into their home when moving to high camp, sleeping arrangements were always abit of a puzzle.
Tuk often slept in all sorts of weird positions. Often rustling and twitching in her sleep. Some nights she nestles her way in between Jake and Neytiri, the poor couple waking up to an elbow jabbing into their skin.
Kiri was your second best option. She didn’t toss or turn, she didn’t kick or jab or roll. Your only deterrent? Kiri mumbled. Oftentimes talking in her sleep to some soft sung spirit she felt within her own solace, her own safety, her own world.
This never found itself to be a disturbance for you. You didn’t mind the mumbling. Kiri however, claimed ‘she loved you too much to keep you up at night’, and wouldn’t hear a word of it when you tried to convince her that it didn’t bother you.
But it wasn't completely in favor of your sleep schedule. Kiri liked her privacy. And you knew that. Better than most, actually. But that’s what was special about your bond with Kiri. You didn’t need words to understand her. And she loved you for it.
I don’t think I need to explain why sharing a hammock with Jake and Neytiri seemed out of the question.
And though most nights it seemed tempting, sleeping with Neteyam was a no-go.
And here you laid. Staring at the ceiling of the Sully family’s tented Marui home, while everyone slept, you damned yourself restless.
Lo’ak kept snoring in your ear, his breath hitting your neck.
His arm lazily thrown above both your heads, his leg sprawled across your shins. You huffed, attempting to turn the opposite way. The uneven weight caused the tent to dip unanticipatedly, causing you to gasp. Your hand reaches towards the wall to steady the motion, and to prevent you and lo’ak from falling.
You squeezed your eyes shut, taking a breath before shifting yourself evenly again, and Lo’ak continued to snore, his tail now poking your hip.
Your ears perked up at the sound of a soft rustling, and a gentle yawn.
“Y/n?”
You turn your head, seeing a sleepy Kiri blink at you slowly, her bright golden eyes adjusting to the light.
“What’re you doing up?”
She rested on her elbows, elevating herself a bit to see you more clearly.
You sighed, glancing back at Lo’ak.
“Oh. You know. Just doing a little late night praying. Praying that eywa will take me before his snoring does.”
Your blank tone made Kiri giggle, stifling her laughs with her palm.
“Oh trust me. I've shared a tent with him longer than you have.”
Silence draws between you both as your quiet chuckles slowly start to simmer away under the dark tent top.
Kiri sits up slightly, gesturing with one hand for you to come closer.
You shake your head, hesitantly treading her offer. You knew how kiri liked her distance.
“I don’t want to be a bother.”
“You? A bother? Y/n, you’re probably the person in this entire tent that bothers me the least.”
You crack a smile, huffing out a small sigh of defeat.
You slip out of your hammock, slithering your way over small objects that became obstacles on the floor with stealthy yet lethargic motions. of the family’s home before successfully snuggling under the blanket of kiri’s larger hammock. Now comfortable without the cramped positioning.
She chuckled, rubbing your back.
“Comfy?”
You nod, smiling at her.
“You're a lifesaver, Kiri. My hero.”
She ruffles your braids, winking.
“Nah. If anything, you are my hero.”
Kiri and you have always been close, ever since you were children. Your mother and Neytiri were practically attached at the hip, and since you, spider, and lo’ak were always a package deal, you and kiri had grown up playing together.
Kiri was softer spoken as a child, and you were loud and energetic. Your mother always said you were an ocean, and kiri was a lake. You, a soul syncing with the vigorous symphonies of azur-string reprised tidelines and honey-hidden siren songs. The ocean forgives, but it never forgets. Its strength is unmeasured. It waits for nothing.
Kiri was a lake. Lush green ripened grass sits along yellowed-tinted sun hazed stems of oddly-shaped wildflowers and imperfect patterns imprinted on petals. She was calm in the still moving water. You were the strength of the sea.
You always felt protective over Kiri.
A part of you couldn't help it. The day you and Kiri grew closer was the same day Jake had to meet with the Olo’eyktan of the Tawkami clan. The day the Chief’s children were teasing Kiri about her fingers. You and Kiri were about 8 at the time, and she really only saw you play around the village or carrying spider on your back as you trailed behind your mother and her daily chores. Or when your mom walked Lo’ak back to his family’s hut the morning after a sleepover with you and spider.
The day the Tawkami Chief’s children that accompanied him were picking and poking at Kiri’s fingers.
And where were you? Right there beside her. Threatening to feed the children to your mother’s ikran and telling them that your human brother would come and give them his demon blood “diseases” if they didn’t leave her alone.
They stopped picking on her, and she stuck by you from then on. Cause no one knew how to better handle bitchy 9 year olds than you did.
Kiri yawns, gently rolling on her side.
“Get some sleep, Y/n.”
You mumbled an ‘mhm’ before letting your eyes drift shut.
Its been about 15 minutes and sleep still evades you. The comforting vibrations of kiri’s warmth doesn’t seem to lull you like you assumed it would.
“Are you awake?”
Kiri whispered, and it startled you a bit. You assumed she was asleep.
You turned to face her and nodded. Her yellow eyes glowing evergreen tints in the darkness.
“Yes. But don’t let me keep you from sleeping, Kiri.”
She shrugs.
“I can’t sleep either.”
You both stay quiet for a moment, letting the silence settle.
“So, Makeyo spoke with you today?”
The same uneasy feeling returns once again, you blink at Kiri.
You shook your head, your voice quiet as if not to disturb the air around you two.
“We were just talking.”
“About?”
Her whisper courses against the flicker of change in the wind.
You stay quiet once again. Not because its awkward, or uncomfortable.
Sometimes, you felt like there was a shackle chained to your wrist.
The memory of your parents still haunts you.
It shaded you in its prison of night, torturing you to watch the sunlight, but never touch it.
You didn’t love anyone.
And yet, whenever someone offered you their hand, it felt like a trap.
A mockery of betrayal climbs your conscience. It's a hue of warm yellow, drenched in crimson and an agonizing black.
Jake told you that back on earth, he fought with other humans in a war that seemed like it would never end.
Sometimes people come out of bloody experiences constantly trying to wash their body because the smell of blood never leaves their nose.
Jake said it haunts you. Like a ghost. Some of the men he met would wake up screaming in the middle of the night. They wouldn’t laugh as much. Smile as much. What once was a comfort was now a cold, daunting piece of lost memories.
It's everywhere. And it hurts. What hurts most is that you  can't protect yourself from it. Your arrows cannot pierce it. your hands cannot fight it away.
It’s real in some uncanny sense of a nauseating nostalgia. The type of memory that makes you thin your eyes because it's too bright.
An invisible devotion, it holds you above its disposal.
It keeps you away from falling in love. From holding someone's hand. From laughing at another’s jokes.
Sometimes you hate what you are. What  you’re made out of. Because your soul constantly fights to build yourself out of ripped pieces of the past.
Because all you ever hear is whispers about where that happy little girl went. The girl who chased sun-dripped river banks with the symphony of children’s laughter.
This pain follows you.
When you wake from your nightmare’s it’ll sit in the corner. Watching you.
When someone flirts with you, touches your shoulder, brushes a strand of hair out of your face, it’ll be there.
What was the use of falling in love? As a child, you fantasized about having a love like your parents. So pure, so deep, so unexplainably perfect.
Only for them to die because of something you couldn't protect them from.
It’s not that you feared death. You feared the instantaneousness of it.
The unforeseen figment of a shape only for it to reveal itself to be a scythe.
They didn’t know it would happen, and neither did you.
And you weren’t fucking there. And now they are gone.
Never getting to watch you or spider grow to be full adults.
Leaving their children without so much as a goodbye.
Your only true goal was to die honorably on the battlefield. If you couldn’t find peace, maybe your ghost could.
Love was a weakness.
And when you fall in love, the shell of that pain will disguise itself under their soul.
You  shrugged, your eyes averting away from Kiri. There's disconnected fatigue in your tone.
“He was nice.”
“Just nice?”
Kiri raises her eyebrow, scooting a bit closer to you.
You  sighed, unsure of how to carry on this conversation. So you’re grateful when she does it for you.
“He’s a good guy. I've seen him help you teach the younger kids. They love him, always trying to climb on his back and asking him to carry them around.”
You nod.
“He’s a good teacher..”
you trail off, fidgeting with one of
Your  bracelets. The one tuk made you, the one with mismatched bead sizes and colors. Juvenile plotted patterns in the small vibrant hues.
Kiri snickers.
“He might have to get in line with all your other eager suitors.”
you roll your eyes, poking her with your tail.
It wasn't unusual that Kiri teased you about getting attention.
Lo’ak’s friends sometimes whisper, quietly laughing and shoving each other as you walk by. It becomes hard not to notice as it becomes a frequent pattern.
Sometimes the guys in the hunting party Neteyam was often in, gently tapped each other on the shoulder, more subtly gesturing as you walked around camp or left for a ride, or even just helped with daily chores.
Their attempts usually deem themself futureless when Spider and Lo’ak glare at them, shoo them away the same way you would a pestering flock of birds.
Its a normality. Though spider was only a year older than you, he policed your love life just the same as any older sibling would. He didn't care that you were taller, stronger, bigger than him.
You scoffed.
“They’ll have to get through dumb and dumber first.”
Kiri huffed, annoyed with the two idiots in question.
“Don’t trust their judgment. They share one singular brain cell and it malfunctions half the time.”
The both of you laugh, trying to keep quiet. You bury your face in Kiris shoulder as the hammock shakes with your giggles.
You both sigh after a moment, still smiling.
“I can’t blame them.  You’re perfect.”
She whispered.
There's a withering sense of somber behind her voice. It lacked bitterness, but it simmered on a ember, an ephemeral flicker of blue. The sounds of sloshed ash-blue sunsets and burnt-orange auras.
“I am not.”
You mumbled.
Kiri looked up at the top of the tented-hut. The small sparks of comforting vibrations from your bodies nuzzled under the woven blanket that allows only the softest of shivers to seize past the fabric.
“You remind me of my mother. The stories of her in her youth. The perfect woman. Strong, admired, sought out by many, envied by most..”
She trailed off.
If only kiri knew you didn’t feel like that at all.
“You’re my idea of perfection, Kiri.”
She scoffs and rolls her eyes.
Kiri was pretty. You had to remind her of that sometimes. The way her golden eyes shined under a sheet of jaded-glowing evergreen, that of a hued green in a canvassed jungle canopy. Her uneven, choppy, imperfectly, perfectly shaped bangs that fell over her forehead, gentle wisps of dark feathered thick strands.
Kiri’s hair was slightly lighter than most na’vi women. You loved that about her, the almost dark auburn shades of brown that hollowed in chalked streaks of a honeyed glow, proving herself her biological mother’s daughter.
But the one thing you adored most about Kiri?
Her love for Eywa.
You could only envy it.
After the death of your mother, your once undying devotion for the great mother started to rot. You felt like she had failed you. Taken away the most precious piece of your soul and damned her name for tearing you apart and leaving you to pick up the pieces.
You were angry those first few months, and you think differently now. But your breath still shallows at the thought.
Your smiles fade, and the air around you feels hollow for a moment.
“I wish i could see through your eyes, kiri.”
Kiri squeezed your hand, gently holding it to her chest.
“I know you’ve been hurt, Y/n. I know this pain is great..But the great mother has a plan for you. I believe it above all else. You are strong. Stronger than any spirit she has seen…You bring the wailing ash and fire of the demon ships to pity with just your arrowhead. We will heal together, y/n. I will teach you to find your faith again.”
You let your eyes flutter closed.
Your beautiful, sweet Kiri. This wasn’t romance. This was sisterly love in its purest form.
“..Do you ever think about him?”
The question stills you, you looked up at her and blink.
“Who?”
“My brother.”
The comforting warmth suddenly becomes a sweltering heave of heat. You swallow thickly, looking down.
“No.”
Kiri shakes her head.
“Please. Don’t lie to me, Y/n.”
There it is again, the hole in your heart.
“Yes. I think of him sometimes.”
Silence settles again.
“Is it wrong?”
You whisper.
Kiri shakes her head.
“No. its just that he doesn't deserve to live in your mind.”
Kiri loves her older brother. She truly does. But she was right beside you when he drifted away. Even ignoring him because she was angry with how he had treated you.
You squeezed your eyes shut for a moment, cupping her hand in yours.
“I hate it.”
“Hate what?”
“How i feel like a piece of me is missing.”
Kiri’s eyes soften.
“Oh y/n…”
“No.”
Your voice breaks only slightly.
“No. because im better now.
I hated him. I hated his hands. I hated his voice. I hated his back. I hated his arms. I hated his neck. I hated his nose. I hated his ears. I hated when he promised to protect me, I hated when he left me crying in the rain. I hated that I waited for him. I hated that he promised all the stars in the sky were mine. I hated him.
I don’t hate him anymore. I hate the delusions of himself he put inside my head.
I hate how he weakened me.”
Kiri gently brushed some of your braids behind your shoulder
“Heartbreak doesn’t make you weak. If anything, it shows we had something inside of us so beautiful and rare it was worth mourning.”
You blinked back the fresh sting in your eyes. Taking a shaky breath.
“Oh my dear.”
Kiri whispered, hugging you close.
“Get some rest. You don’t need to think about anything right now, I promise.”
You nodded.
“Yeah. yeah okay.”
“You know what? In the morning let’s go bother norm for a bit. Would that make you feel better?”
You chuckled, hugging her back before you both settled in respective places in her hammock.
“It always does,”
Sleep soon found you, taking you in its arms and soothing the sweet darkness.
Across the tent, Neteyam laid awake, his hands clutching a blanket of his own, his body still tensed after what he had just heard.

The next day.
You liked hunting with Jake.
It was high on your list of some of the chores you enjoyed contributing with your new found life in high camp living with the sullies.
Spending time with jake was a bonus. Jake and your family went way back. Your mother was one of the only navi that welcomed him upon his unexpected arrival. She was the one who lended him an older loincloth for him to wear that first night he was captured and the omaticaya took away his RDA uniform, and while he had his first ever meal with the clan at high camp.
Your mother also played a huge role in his journey to become a man of the omaticaya people.
Teaching him things like weaving, beading, and some of the language along with Neytiri.
Your mother was the one who constantly pestered neytiri about her growing feelings for the dreamwalker, helping her unbraid her hair for the nights he spent with jake, letting her cry, laugh, scream, like any good sister would.
Your mother and Neytiri mourned sylwanin together. And your mother grew closer with Mo’at and eytukan as mentors as well, despite neytiri and your mother not being sisters by blood, they loved each other just the same.
Jake and you had a good relationship. Jake often helped train the younger warriors, neteyam, you and lo’ak included.
You were always the fastest, the strongest out of the group, since you were 15.
Jake remembers when you were small. Carrying spider around and chasing lo’ak, bringing gifts to baby tuk, playing in the flower patches with neteyam and making him wear the bracelets and crowns you would braid out the stemmed petals.
Jake was there with you when your parents died, and he ws there when you moved into highcamp with the sully family.
He was there when you had nightmares and woke up in the middle of the night screaming,
You remember those nights, when the images of your mothers body would rip you from your sleep and you’d almost shake poor lo’ak out of the shared hammock with your sobbing and pleading.
You remember jake rushing to you, gently holding you by your shoulders, gently utting your head to his chest.
‘Sweetheart hey- hey i’m here. Mawey, Mawey..easy- easy…there we go. Deep breaths..’
The hoarse tiredness in his voice as oddly comforting.
You remember shaking your head, settling yur breathing as the tears began to flow.
“I-i’m sorry..it was just another bad dream.”
“Hey. never apologize for having a nightmare. You’re okay. You’re safe here. Okay? C’mon. Let's take a walk-that’ll calm you down.”
You trusted jake. You always have. Even today, in the present. So of course you liked hunting with him.
But most of all? You loved flying.
Your ikran was your spirit brother, sometimes even following your commands without tsaheylu.
The bond you had was strong, stronger than most ikran’s are capable of.
And the best part? He had a temper just like you did. The first time you almost met death was your iknimiya.
Your ikran threw you off the cliff, and then flew down to attack you further.
Jake and Neytiri had to hold Neteyam back from swooping into save you.
But you did it. You completed your rite and claimed Kailo as your own.
And you soared with him now, above the clouds, barely containing the smile etched on your face as the wind whips through your braids.
You loved heights. You loved how infinitely endless the sky seemed, burning with blasts of azure or an early morning blaze of fire-hued sunrises, or the cold warmth of the rain that refused to fall within the stars.
Revered by the scattered songs of synodic vespers and requiems of rainstorms. The sky cannot be caged. It cannot be concealed or hidden, it is your sanctuary, enraptured by effortless divinity and strength.
Your ikran let out a shrill and you pet its neck.
“Easy, Kailo..”
You hummed, looking over to jake, who sat atop his own companion, Bob. His dreads caught in the wind behind him as he waved for your attention.
“y/n!”
The wind carried his volume.
“I think we should take a break. In an hour or two the yerik herds will come to the river bank. Let’s law low in the woods.”
“Yes sir.”
You gently kicked Kailos' side, tilting the reins to descend after Jake into the forest, weaving around trees and foliage.
You laugh as a gust of wind trails you and Kailo, almost throwing Jake off his line of flight. Kailo was one of the fastest ikran your clan had ever seen. At least, that’s what the elders of the clan had told you.
Lo’ak was often jealous of spider because spider always got free rides on Kailo. You land before Jake, hopping off Kailo’s back and petting his neck.
“Mawey, tsmukan”
(calm, brother.)
Jake landed after you, the sound of ikran wings announcing his arrival. He climbed down right after you, patting the neck of his own Ikran, bob.
Jake spotted some Yovo fruit trees up ahead, cutting you both down a few as you both sat down on some rocks for  snack break.
Jake leaned back, handing you a half of his own fruit as you muttered a small thank you.
His eyes wandered, as he glanced up at the trees, as if his gaze had become conscious of every shape and sound that surrounded him.
“I remember this place.”
Jake uttered in a soft hum in the air, his line of sight tracing around the figment of  nostalgic fixation in the air.
You raised an eyebrow, munching on your fruit.
“Here? At this spot?”
Jake nods, nudging your shoulder with his knuckles. Pointing to the source of the sound of trickling water.
“The pond. Back when I was training for iknimaya. Way before your time.”
He smirked, as if it was something to brag about.
You rolled your eyes,
“Oh goody. Another one of grandpa's war stories.”
Jake chucked a Yovo fruit at your head but you caught it effortlessly, not even glancing.
“I’m not that old.” he huffs, clearly impressed at your  heightened reflexes.
You chuckled, flipping your knife in your hand to withdraw it from its place in the sheath on your hip to cut open the fruit.
“Can’t move it like you used to, huh pops?”
“You know, I could have you banished.”
“Than who would save Lo’ak next time he wants to play tag with a thanator?”
Jake ruffled your braids in response to your surmise, clearly holding back a smile.
“Where would I be without ya, kid?”
You shrugged, handing him another half of the freshly cut fruit.
“Probably in one of those healing homes back on earth.”
“You mean nursing homes.”
“Same thing.”
Jake shook his head, letting out a sigh, knowing it was probably spider who taught you such a term.
He glanced around again, brushing in the scenery.
A silence commences between you both, the soft shrills and distant flap of wings within the deep jungle is the only sound that demands attention.
Jake speaks softly, breaking the silence with fragile, yet scrambled steps.
“She never fails to take my breath away.”
You look up at him, watching as he leaned back against the tree, letting his eyes flutter closed.
“Who?” you whisper.
“Pandora.”
He hums in response.
you often forgot Jake wasn’t from this planet. That his true home could only be seen as the sirius among scattered stars. What was it like? Seeing your home from below? The only thing worth touching is the implacable incarnation of your memories.
To hide what was left of yourself, a mere ghost that lingered in the wrinkled corners of your mind.
“What was it like..your home?”
You whispered.
Jake’s ears perk up, his eyes landing on you as he sat up slightly.
He stayed quiet for a moment. Staring up at the sky, his finger gently tracing one of the stripes on his leg as his gaze remained absent.
“It’s like living on a skeleton.”
When he finally speaks, it's quite literally the last thing you would have guessed he would say.
You raised your eyebrow.
“A skeleton..?”
He nodded.
“Earth is just a shell. Like the carcass of an animal. A corpse, almost.”
“I don’t understand.”
He nodded, scooting a bit closer to you, starting to speak again.
“Earth used to be beautiful. So many colors you couldn’t count them all.”
You nodded, trying to imagine the formless figment of a world in which you’ve never seen.
He closed his eyes, as if trying to remember.
“There was light, lots of it. The air, the sun, the stars…”
You blinked at him.
“What happened to it?”
Jake paused, something creeping behind the orbs of his irises. It's a sickening dark shade of a color he can’t remember, but its bitter aching bones are enough to weaken the courage of a once strong rhythmic heartbeat.
It’s a shadow of an echo. Gutted inside something hollow and carved out of shivering pulses running to a soured stillness.
“Humans will take until nothing is left. They will gawk at the lights of a stupid billboard instead of noticing the dying grass under their feet.”
What's a billboard?
You thought, but decided not to ask.
You stayed quiet, staring at the ground.
“That’s why they want this planet. Because they killed their old one.”
Jake nods, sighing almost regretfully.
“They think the na’vi is their greatest enemy, when really, the ones who have killed the most humans are…well, more humans.”
You can’t imagine it. Taking a life without regarding the soul you have soiled. Does the red on their hands not sting their eyes?
And that's when you realized it.
Death hummed shallowly in its own pulsating methods. But even the devil has an advocate.
You killed. You have killed many. And it doesn’t seem to register until that very moment. You never thought to count the number of raids you had accompanied your clan on, Jake appointed you as his main archer when you were only 15.
When rage and grief overshadowed the shallowness of sunlight all you wanted to do was avenge.
An untamed anger was born in you when your parents died. And you swore every arrow you ever shot was in their names.
Zensira.
Kai’lik.
Zensira.
Kai’lik.
How would they look at you now?
Their little girl. The little girl they loved. Their beautiful, beautiful precious girl who loved to hear her mother sing. Their little girl who loved to carry your big brother spider around, (because your big brother wasn’t so big compared to you.)
Who loved to visit the pond and play with lo’ak. Who liked to make bracelets with kiri and get thrown into the lake by your dad, tossing around your small body when you were 7 as you squealed through the freshwater air.
A killer.
“Y/n? Y/n. Hey, hey, what’s wrong?”
Jake placed a hand on your shoulder, but his touch felt cold.
Jake’s voice sounded like your head was under water. Blurred, distant sounds.
Your breath becomes shallow, but you weren’t hyperventilating. You were just…still.
What if you had failed them? What if they were watching you right now?
Knowing you had killed. Not hunted.
Hunting was for survival. To feed your family, your friends, your clan.
This was killing. This wasn’t a need. It was a want. A want for vengeance.
Were you even a na’vi at all? Killing without respect for life even if they were a human.
Your mother forgave. Your father forgot.
And what were you? A disgrace of everything they stood for.
Your voice came out like a whisper. Every thought and feeling swirling around in your head. Despite your silent panic, the air felt eerily calm, and almost mocking ambience.
“Did I disappoint them?”
Jake stilled for a moment, rubbing your back.
“Who?”
“All of them.”
“All of them?”
You swallowed thickly.
“Y/n..you know you can talk to me, right?”
You nodded, staying quiet for a moment as you stared down at your shaking hands.
“Am I a bad person?”
Jake’s eyes widen a bit for a moment, his hand slowly withdrawals from its place on your shoulder.
“Why would you think that?”
“Because sometimes I like the way pain feels.”
Something clicked for Jake at that moment.
Where you saw your hand bloodied by a manic anger and bones with regretful splintered scars, Jake saw a shadow. A shadow of a distressed consciousness that he once acquainted himself with.
Jake was no stranger to products of war. Even when those products were souls losing their vibrancy. The colors fading into hardened flesh.
Jake had seen war turn people into hollow shells. Unheard prayer scattered and dissipated under a blood-stained sky.
Jake finally spoke, but his words, slow and somber, treaded a steeper meaning.
“You aren’t a bad person, Y/n. You’ve been hurt. Hurt by people even eywa cannot forgive.”
You shook your head, the threat canvassed along perpetual doubts.
“I don’t know why I’m like this.”
You admitted.
Jake places his hand back on your shoulder again.
“Sometimes people like us, soldiers, we start to like the pain because we think it’s the only thing we'll ever deserve. But we don’t like it at all. Not really.”
You can almost see it. The stars are falling again. The tapestry thread being pulled mercilessly. The colors are falling. The sun is turning cold.
You had to catch them. You had to chase the colors or else they would abandon you again.
Your reflection seems distorted. Liquid glass in the taunting shape of a little girl.
A little girl who knew no bloodshed. No war. No pain. No anger.
You would never be that little girl again. And its all your fault. You wanted to kill someone after your parents died. You wanted to kill every single human that worked for the RDA or even set foot on their base.
It’s sick.
It’s wrong.
It’s vile.
But its you. This wreckage of scars and bruises, tattered tapestries and broken bird songs, its all you.
That all too familiar sting hit the back of your throat, you could feel your gaze numbing.
“I’m beyond fixing.”
You whispered.
“No one is beyond fixing.”
He promised.
“Can you take some deep breaths with me? Just a few, Y/n.”
You followed his instructions, and the red started to simmer away. The air felt forgiving once again, and your throat started to feel normal once again.
You spoke again finally, after a few moments of silence.
“Maybe I should have my na’vi card revoked.”
You chuckled dryly.
Jake patted your back. “You and me both, kiddo.”
“What you feel is normal.”
He added.
“That anger. That vengeance.”
You glanced up at him. “Na’vi are supposed to solve conflict peacefully first. War is just a last resort.”
Jake scoffed.
“I think we’ve reached the last resort awhile ago, Sweetheart.”
You went to speak, but were quickly cut off.
“y/n you are not some kind of psychopath. You don’t kill for no reason. You kill to protect. You fight because something dear to you is threatened, that's what makes a warrior true to their heart, their clan.”
His words eased your anxiety a bit. But the shadow behind the sun still creeped disguised under the warmth of forgiveness.
“I’m not a bad person. I don’t know why I want them to feel pain.”
You whispered.
Sometimes you wondered if pretending to be made out of stone means you’d still break like glass.
War was the type of calm that tranquilized. Drugged you into delusions of comfort.
Somewhere inside you was that little girl. She hates you. She hates you with all her heart.
Somewhere inside you is that 15 year old that’s waiting for neteyam in the rain you swear is just falling stars. She hates you. She hates you with all  her heart.
Somewhere inside you is your mothers daughter. Wondering who did this to you.
You didn’t like violence But you were prone to it.
You didn’t like war. But you're afraid of the day it no longer has a use for you.
War ruined you. Because war made you angry. And anger tortured you.
You weren’t deserving of sunlight, maybe that's why you familiarize yourself with the bleakness of dusk.
Maybe that’s why you loved Neteyam.
Maybe that’s why you hated yourself.
Maybe that’s why you’ve trained yourself with blood stains and tear tracks.
Your mother was forgiving. She adopted a human child after watching her family die, and hometree fall.
She devoted herself to eywa, a woman true to the kindness of her heart and the flame of forgiveness.
She had seen fire and escaped it.
You had seen fire and burned with it.
The shackles on your wrist. The burning in your throat.
You were a child forced into a warrior.
And maybe it was time to heal, but why didn’t it allow you?
This shadow oppressed you. And maybe this prolonged insanity was a good sanctuary to be understood, not severed. Your bones were made of seared iron, the fissure of a once porcelain excellence.
War had ruined you. And ruined things didn’t deserve to be loved.
Jake pulled you close to him, wrapping an arm around you, you leaned your head on his shoulder.
“You’re one of the fucking strongest people i know. You know that?”
He whispered, and the simplicity of his touch settled an almost agonizing comfort.
“Can you fix me?”
You whisper.
Jake shook his head.
“Y/n.  You are not something to be fixed. You need to be healed. And I know you can do it. And we’ll be right beside you the whole damn time.”
You let yourself close your eyes.
“You're a soldier, kid. Just like me. A fighter.  It’s all we think we know, all we think we’ll ever deserve. We swear to live and die on that battlefield.”
You nod.
“Sometimes it feels like the battlefield is the closest to home.”
Jake speaks once more,
“Until you find someone who feels a little closer.”
By the way he smiled softly, you knew he was talking about Neytiri.
You leaned further into his shoulder, and he patted your back.
“You know, back on earth, we have a special way of dealing with cases like these. Soidlers who need trauma relief.”
You blinked at him, immediately intrigued.
“You do? How?”
“Therapy.”
You tried the strange human word out on your tongue.
“Ther…ah…pey-
There-a-pay-”
“Therapy.”
Jake corrected gently.
“What’s that?” You asked, as Jake stood up, putting his knife back in his sheath.
“Its where you go to someone who can help you talk things out. Iv’e seen a few back in my days. Military psychologists are what we call em’.”
You raised your eyebrow.
From spending time with max, norm, and spider, you knew that humans had a different way of dealing with their feelings than na’vi did. But this new information peaked your interest.
“How can i find one?”
Jake paused.
That’s a damn good question.
He thought to himself.
He hummed for a moment, petting bobs neck and you put your bow back in its place on your saddle.
“How about this, every few days, you and I can meet.”
Jake proposed.
You raised your eyebrows.
“Where?”
He shrugged. “Anywhere you want. We can go to one of the mountains, or the stream, or the caves, whatever. It can be private. And we can talk like you would to a therapist.”
You considered it for a moment, but after all, maybe this would fix you.
You shook on it and agreed.
“Deal.”
Jake ruffled your braids and smiled.
“Attagirl. Lets get moving. Those yerik are probably at the lake by now. I’ll race you.”
You mounted Kailo, rolling your eyes.
“I don’t abuse the elderly.”
“Oh fuck off i’m not that old.”
You faked a wince as jake mounted Bob.
“Oo, careful grandpa. You shouldn't be moving too much like that.”
Jake flipped you off.
“Kiss the darkest side of my blue as-”
Before he could finish, You and Kailo took to the skies.

Back at high camp..
Neteyam’s pov:
Lo’ak groaned as he laid in his hammock.
Today felt like small pieces had been torn out of it. The absence of my father, my mother, Kiri and Y/n all contributed to this unease.
It fascinating how easily little pieces of things leave something so unstructured when certain routines in your life undergoes a sudden cessation. Only fragments of familiarity keep me company today.
Oh, yeah. That and Lo’ak’s bitching.
I’m never one to complain. Not really. But Lo’ak…He was my personal acception.
I’ve been stuck with him since this morning. My father took Y/n out to hunt early before I awoke, and my mother and Kiri have gone to assist my grandmother in the Tsahik tent. Lo’ak lost his flight privileges after that little stunt he pulled during the raid, and I don’t feel like going anywhere alone. I offered to join my father last night on his hunt this morning, but my father insisted he and Y/n go hunting alone.
I offered to help my grandmother, but Kiri beat me to it. My mother asked me to stay home and start preparing for tonights meal. So here i was hunched over chopping up root vegetables while I was stuck in this void we called home. I felt detached today. Like the world just floated around me while I remained rooted like a weathering tree.
My accidental overhearing over my sister and Y/n talking last night is still fresh on my mind.
“Dude..I think you’re done with that one.”
Lo’ak’s voice finally reaches my ears.
I lift my head, and he points down to where i had clearly been so distracted, i had diced the poor vegetable into tiny pieces, too small to be cooked over a fire. They would shrivel away in the smoke.
I threw them to the side, trying to refocus.
“What is up with you today?” Lo’ak interrogates instead of asking. I keep my eyes down, shrugging.
“Nothing. Why?”
He shrugs, mocking my movements, leaning back in his hammock, leaving his leg to dangle, his toes brushing the ground.
“Dunno. You just seem kinda…off?”
I sigh, scraping the new batch of chopped vegetables off the carved board i was cutting them on and into the wooden bowl with my knife.
“Just a bit tired. I didn’t get much sleep last night”
Technically, that wasn’t a lie. Which seems in my favor, if you remember from earlier, I’m a shit liar.
Memory was a funny thing. It claws at your mind until you grant it consciousness, and then it romances itself with such scandalous notions. Unforgiving us for ever dreaming of forgetting.
It wants to awake something in us that we can only pray stays dead.
I knew I shouldn't have been listening to Y/n’s words. I knew I should have been asleep.
But know that it’s found me, it captures me.
I want to exist in her mind not only as a figment, because there’s one particular part that is beating the shit out of me.
‘I don’t hate him anymore. I hate the delusions of himself he put inside my head.’
I used to think she only hated me. Hated me for my ignorance, my hesitance, my fear.
I hated it too.
But no. She hated me because she thought i lied to her, gave her something so precious, so inexplicably binding only to shatter it infront of her eyes.
My love for her was never a lie. It was never a joke, or a ruse, or a figment in this phantom of longing that looms over me.
I couldn’t allow this to go on any longer. That I knew for sure.
Unfortunately, getting to Y/n was a wall i couldn’t seem to climb.
When she wasn’t out hunting or strategizing air strikes with my father, she was with spider, and Spider didn’t let me go within 5 feet of Y/n.
I had to admire him for it, despite him becoming a vicissitude in the middle of my current mission, I had to give him some slack as a fellow oldest sibling.
If anyone had hurt kiri, or tuk (when she came of age to engage in such ‘romantic affairs’) ,  if anyone hurt them the way I hurt y/n, I’d probably have to put my mother’s years of archery lessons to use. Granted, My father would probably skin the poor bastard and wear him as a coat before I even got a chance.
I can’t blame him for protecting Y/n.
I try to think further as i continue chopping, my tail flicking behind me.
I decide Kiri is my best option. I’ll find her when she returns from Tsahik’s tent. Eywa please, just give me one chance. I swear i’ll-
“Where’s Tuk?”
Lo’ak suddenly pipes up, he probably got bored with his own laziness.
I glance up at him as i scarped off my knife.
“Kyuna picked her up this morning to take her to play with popiti for the day.”
Lo’ak raised an eyebrow.
“Kyuna?”
I nodded, not looking up.
“Your new mate?”
I don’t like the way he said ‘new mate’. As if i had one in the first place.
I shake my head, slightly annoyed.
“She’s not my mate. I’m not interested in kyuna.”
“Tuk said-”
“Tuk doesnt know what shes talking about.”
Lo’ak shrugs, leaning back to sit up a bit, looking at me with skeptical eyes.
“What’s really going on with you?”
“I don’t know what you speak of.”
He scoffs. “I’m not stupid, Neteyam. You’re acting off. You have all morning, all day, and even now. Whats the deal?”
I place my knife down, glaring at my brother.
“I don’t owe you an explanation. Okay?”
The tent falls silent, and I continue on with my chores, I hear Lo’ak mutter a small apology under his breath. I cave.
“No, I’m just tired..I shouldn’t have snapped like that.”
Lo’ak nods, fidgeting with his songchord.
“If you don’t want kyuna…You aren’t thinking about Y/n. right?”
Lo’ak was more than displeased when I started courting y/n. And he didn’t try to hide it either.
Lo’ak loves y/n. Not romantically. But he loves her.
It’s the kind of closeness that isn’t sex or intimately deep.
Lo’ak always felt like the distant star in our family. The one who strays from the perfect rotation of each patterned path.
His hands were stained with hunger. Imperfect painted sun blood stained skies.
Lo’ak’s trust in us was ghostly and transluscent. He didn’t always feel like he fit the shape carved for him.
Lo’ak’s imperfect edges, sharpened and rough, scarred and edged to a point.
He found his place between Spider and Y/n. His bestest friends. Two people he would die for.
Found his own sky.
Dark blue and purple hues and the warmth of pale moonlight, he found his place.
When Lo’ak found something that accepted him, he protected it with his life.
And I can’t blame him. Being in love your brother's best friend is awkward.
Lo’ak was afraid of me stealing that away from him.
Of me invading his circle.
The reality of a sacrifice is an odd, unevenly constructed abstraction.
People don’t think I was born from my mother, rather I was carved from stone and polished to a pristine hue of gold.
My parents expected me to build myself wings and fly further than anyone had ever tried.
When the line wasn’t perfectly straight, it was erased and made a new slate. Blank. Perfect. Spotless.
And sometimes, I’m not neteyam to my parents.
I’m my mother, just a younger version.
I am my father, worn thin from a war and plagued by my past promises.
I’m just a shell of something that was no more. Something to refill with their own pieces of the past.
My skin and soul is only stitched out of parts of them. But only the unscathed parts.
Anything that dared to be less than that was indescent. Unworthy of the light.
My mother’s anger, my fathers guilt, was a far too discolored shade to be seen in the sky.
My existence was like a kaleidoscope of muted colors. A prism turned prison.
I think I’ve forgotten how to slouch. How to sit with an unwelcome posture. How to fidget and how to fantasize.
My entire life is full of sacrifices.
Sacrificing y/n for my future.
Sacrificing my brothers best friend. My future mate.
But I’ll be damned if I loose her again.
So, I lie for the second time.
“No. I wasn’t thinking about y/n, idiot.”
Lo’ak nods,
Leaning back, closing his eyes. I mentally high five eywa because he doesn’t interrogate me further.
“You know, instead of taking a nap, you could be helping me.”
I huff, and fight the urge to roll my eyes, and he sighs dramatically.
“Neteyam, I’m too pretty for slave labor.”
I throw a vegetable at his head and he hisses in pain.
“Fuck you. That’s sibling abuse.”
He whines.
“I’m about to abuse my responsibilities with this knife if you don’t get up off your lazy ass and do something useful with your existence.”
I point my knife at him and he groans, standing up and leaving the hammock.
“Easy there, big bro. Spider will be here soon.”
I raise my brow, an uneasy feeling settling in my chest.
“Spider? Here?”
He nods.
“Yeah. We have chores to do too, ya know.”
I shake my head, slicing the new vegetable horizontally, watching the colored juices trickle down the roots and stain the cutting board.
“No. Not here. You know how mother feels about spider.”
Spider was my mother’s foil. An old term our father taught us.
My mother owed Zensira her life. And she swore to her a long time ago, that if anything happened to her or ka’lik, she would step up to be a mother to y/n, the same went for my father.
But Zensira didn’t have one child. She had two. Spider was not biologically her child, but he was treated like her son all the same. Living in Y/n’s family’s tent, being cared for, the same way any mother would nurture a child.
My mother made promises for y/n. But she never made any for spider.
I don’t think she ever will.
To her, she was a demon. And alien. The type of animal with no hope of survival, but refuses to die. Remains unyielding even under the unwelcoming atmosphere of pandora.
He was an actor. A pathetic excuse of a performance.  A pale child painted blue.
My mother loves y/n the same way she loves tuk and Kiri. Would go the same lengths for her as she would for any of her children, and the same thing applies to my father.
Spider was allowed everywhere in high camp except our family’s hut.
My grandmothers hut was an exception, because it was a communal place in our clan.
But my mother refused to have any sky demon’s presence scathe the memories of her home. Her only safe place. Where she raised her children and started her new life.
That’s probably why Lo’ak spent so much time at Y/n’s hut when he was little. It was one of the only places he could be comfortably with both Y/n and Spider at the same time.
“You know how mom feels about spider in the hut.”
Lo’ak’s expression is blanked with disinhibited concern and a genuine lack of guilt.
“Mom isn’t here. She’ll be gone all day. Plus, we’re making y/n some new arrows. She’s on that group hunt tonight.”
I crossed my arms.
“And who allowed you to mess with her supplies?”
Lo’ak scoffed. Placing his hands on his hips with a cocky grin.
“The mighty archer herself. I’ve been appointed by Y/n and tasked with a very important job. Who am I to decline her?”
“Just make sure he isn’t here for long. She can smell him if he’s been in here. You know mom’s senses.”
Lo’ak waves me off, standing to his feet, grabbing the small baskets of purple and red feathers y/n used for the fletching of her arrows, and starts to tie them to the shaft of the arrow.
Spider joined him not long after, the two if them sat in the middle of the tent, crafting arrows and talking.
Spider glanced at me after finishing another arrow.
“So where is everyone today?”
“Father took Y/n hunting. My mother and Kiri are assisting grandmother- and Tuk is with popiti.”
Spider raised an eyebrow at me, his mask fogging up momentarily with each breath.
“Who? Popiti?”
Lo’ak rolled his eyes.
“Kyuna’s little sister.”
Spider nodded in realization, then his expression soured.
Lo’ak snorted. “Neteyam’s new mate.”
“For the 5th time, she’s not my mate.”
Spider chuckles along with him and I swear i’m losing neurons from just breathing the same air as Lo’ak and Spider.
Or really, just Lo’ak.
I stood to my feet as i heard footsteps outside. Tuk must’ve  finished up her activities with Popiti for the day.
Usually, It was An’kora. Popiti’s mother, who walked Tuk home in the afternoons.
But when I opened the flap. I’m faced with a face that isn’t my little sister, her braids slightly disheveled from a day of wild fantasies and games of tag.
A na’vi girl, with mid length braids and a beaded top smiles at me so sweetly it’s sickening.
You know those kinds of people that you've known since your childhood, and you always knew in one way or another, they would grow up to be assholes?
Yeah. That's Kyuna.
Kyuna was the girl that never let Spider or Kiri, Or Lo’ak play any of her games because of their ‘sky people germs'.
Kyuna was the girl that told everyone not to sit next to Y/n in the communal lessons we attend as children, telling everyone that she lived with a human boy who gave her diseases.
She does this thing where she laughs into her hand, and leans on the person closest to her, expecting them to allow her access nto their personal space as if the world had her name written on it.
She bows slightly, her movements unnecessarily exaggerated as she raises her two fingers to her forehead and dips them down.
“Oel ngati kameie, Neteyam.”
I return the gesture, nodding at her.
“Kyuna. It’s good to see you.”
No it’s not.
She bats her eyes at me, and my annoyance only simmers away when a familiar smaller na’vi body slams herself into my leg, pressing her head into my hip.
I chuckle softly, ruffling Tuk’s braids.
“Hey Tuk-Tuk. Did you have a fun time?”
I pat her shoulder as she opens her mouth to speak, her big eyes sparkling before she’s cut off by a shriek-like voice.
“Oh she had tons of fun! Her and Popiti just ran around for hours playing their silly little games.”
When you're an older sibling, you start to catch onto things. You start to memorize your younger siblings' habits, mannerisms, movements, even the slightest twitch of their tail.
Tuk was a creature of habit. And I could tell by the way she gently tugged on my loincloth, and the way she tucked herself behind my arm, she was uncomfortable.
I reach my hand out, and she takes it within a split second, gently borrowing herself in the space behind me.
I lean down a bit, keeping my hand in it’s place on her shoulder.
“Are you hungry? Why don’t you go on inside, yes? Spider and Lo’ak are already sitting. I’m sure Lo’ak would love to make you some seed-leaf wraps.”
Her tail flicks at the mention of her favorite snack, and she finally cracks a smile, before jogging inside.
“She’s adorable. Isn’t she??”
Kyuna sighs in an almost dreamily manner, I stand up straight again to face her.
“My mother was informed An’kora was taking Tuk home today. Did something come up?”
She waves me off, ridding my concern from the air.
“Mother got tied up on foraging duty. I figured I'd watch the girls and walk Tuk home.”
I nod, slowly. “Ah. Well, thank you for taking her home.”
She smiles, tilting her head like a viperwolf begging for scraps.
“Oh. No need to thank me. She’s precious, that little Tuktirey.”
I never liked the way she talked about my sister. Her tone was almost mocking, as if she was describing a doll or some kind of inanimate object.
“Well. I should get going. I don’t trust lo’ak alone with the firepit and Tuk is probably hungry-”
“My father wanted me to invite you on his next hunt. Are you free midday tomorrow?”
I wasn’t surprised when she offered. It’s all she talked about the last 4 times I had saw her.
The one time I did agree, all the man would talk about was what kinds of flowers Kyuna liked, and how no one had courted her yet.
My eywa, I wonder why.
There’s an unsteady rhythm that inhabits itself in my chest. The kind that sets off warning signals in your brain.
I scratch the back of my head awkwardly, my knuckle brushing my tswin.
“It’s a kind offer, really. But I’m already expected to join the night hunt tonight. The one led by y/n and my father.”
She stared at me with some notion of unrequited enamour, and I almost feel bad for her.
“I’m sorry. Maybe another time?”
She nods, her tail swishing behind her.”
“Of course. I’d expect nothing less from the future olo’eyktan of our clan.”
The emphasis on my title seems almost slurred, and my body instinctively takes a step back the moment she takes a step forward.
“Yes, well, my training has only been increasing.”
“Such a strong warrior. A man of the people. I’m surprised you don’t have the women of our clan falling at your feet. Oh, wait You do!”
Why was she yelling? I’m literally two feet in front of her.
I shifted uncomfortably on my feet.
“I should get back inside, kyuna.”
“One more thing, Neteyam?”
I don’t turn my body fully towards her, but my eyes focus on her figure nonetheless.
“There’s been rumors.”
Something twists in my stomach the moment she says that. Like a static running blank. Or soundwaves straightening into lines.
“What?”
“People talk. And there’s been word that the future olo’eyktan of our people will never find his tsahik.”
I groan, dragging my palm down my face.
“Don’t bother me with such matters, Kyuna. All this talk of the future that is too far away to be treading towards. My father is too stubborn to give up his place that fast. He will remain olo’eyktan for a long time before I take his place.”
She shrugs, crossing her arms.
“All i’m saying is..”
She takes another step, her chest nearly touching mine.
“You are wanted for more than you think. The women of this clan practically swoon over the thought of being by your side, and you haven’t even blinked at them.”
I click my tongue, averting my eyes.
“My future mate is none of your business. Nor is it the clans. Not now, at least.”
She goes to speak; but before she can utter her next words, Lo’ak came stumbling out of the tent with a less than pleased expression on his face.
“Bro.”
He tugs on my arm, gagging exaggeratingly.
“Tuk threw up- it’s a mess in there. Whatever Kyuna fed her is NOT sitting well.”
I blink at my brother, but it quickly registers that something wasn’t right.
“Are you sure? She seemed fine when she came home-“
“Dude. I know barf when I see it.
She must have ate something bad at Popiti’s.”
Kyuna was stunned, crossing her arms in an offended manner.
“I beg your pardon? Tuk didn’t eat anything at my place today.”
Lo’ak scoffed.
“Uh huh. Sure. You’re probably just trying to poison my sister. Aren’t you? Our father will be hearing about this!”
My main concern at the moment is Tuk.
“Excuse me-“
I muttered to Kyuna as an excuse for a goodbye, shoving past Lo’ak to my family’s tent, expecting to see a poor Tuktirey doubled over, regurgitating what was either late breakfast or early lunch, when instead all that comes into view is Tuk sitting cross-legged next to spider, as he starts methodically picking out some of the different seeds from the assorted bowls we used to prepare our meals. As he sat making leaf wraps for a suspiciously fine looking Tuk.
I crouched down next to her, feeling her forehead and keeping a hand gently on her back.
“Are you okay, Tuk?”
She nodded, blinking up at me.
My eyes flicker up when Lo’ak enters the tent, whistling as if nothing just happened.
“Lo’ak, Tuk seems fine..”
I trail off.
He winks at me.
“Your welcome. Kyuna left us in peace.”
Pain in the ass or not, I have to admit, Lo’ak was smarter than we give him credit for.
when I finally finished peeling the vegetables, I left them in their basket and enjoyed a break with Tuk, Lo’ak, and Spider.
We all sat eating Spider’s very poor excuse of a seed-leaf wrap. But they worked, for some odd reason no one could place.
Spider didn’t eat, because of his mask, so i guess he settled for conversation.
“So, Tuk. How was your playdate?
Tuk nods eagerly, talking through a mouth full of seed-wrap.
I reach for the extra cloth in my loincloth pocket, letting her wipe her mouth before speaking normally again.
“It was fun. But I don't think I like Kyuna anymore.”
Lo’ak scoffed, high fiving tuk.
“Put er’ there sis. Neither do I. She’s a bitch.”
“Lo’ak. Language.” I scold, smacking his head lightly.
He rolls his eyes.
“Fine. Shes a B-I-T-C-H. Better?” Spider laughs. Leaning back.
Lo’ak shoves him.
“Oh and what’s so funny? Mr, ‘i’m afraid of women’?”
Spider shakes his head, raising his pointer finger to poke lo’aks chest.
“Correction. I’m afraid of your mother and Y/n.”
“Everyones afraid of Y/n.”
I ignore Lo’ak and Spider’s bickering, turning my attention to Tuk.
“Was Kyuna bothering you?”
She shook her head, taking another bite. Speaking through a mouth full of food
“Nuh-uh. But she kept asking me if you were home, and if you had received any courting gifts yet, or if you wanted to go hunting with her.”
I bit my tongue tounge, smoothing down some of tuk’s stray braids.
“How about this, Next time, I’ll walk you home from Popiti’s.”
She nodded and took another bite of her food.
“I don’t think she should be your mate anymore”
Tuk shakes her head disapprovingly, crossing her arms over her chest.
Spider raises an eyebrow.
“Kyuna and you are a mated pair? Since when?”
Lo’ak snickers and I groan.
“For the last time, she is not my mate.”
Tuk blinks at me before speaking again.
“Can you mate with y/n instead? She’s nicer.”
I shove another leaf wrap into her hands.
“How about we play the quiet game for a bit?”

Thank you so much for the hunt! It was amazing, so so good. And since it is so good, I'd love a mini encore. I'd like to know how Jungkook will react to MC's explanation about her lack of specific skills, I've been waiting for it since the previous chapters... Or hammock sëx, that works too...
Or a sneak peek at Yoongi and his mate first meeting, that would be wonderful.
Thanks 💜
I feel like we've never met Yoongi and his partner..
Tumblr media
"I don't think I will really fit in here..." you mumble quietly after your best friend, who's basically dragged you to the festival this year. There's a reason you don't usually attend any dragon-activities at all throughout the year-
Because you're nothing like those dragonkin's, all confident and proud and sure of themselves. You're not strong, or bold, or cool, or confident. You don't even know why.
But the flame every dragon is supposed to have is barely a candle within you, easy to blow out from nothing but a gust of wind.
"No way, you'll do fine!" She disagrees, patting your shoulder. "It'll do you some good, being around our people and all!" She reassures, but you don't agree. There's nothing here for you. You don't know anyone despite your friend, and you have no clue about traditions either.
And especially when she later roams around all social does it hit you how lost you are.
Someone quietly sits down next to you, a respectful amount of distance between you both, however. The red-haired stranger says nothing, just provides silent company, pushes a plate full of snacks closer to you as if to offer to share.
And you take one, nibbling on it quietly while you watch the others dance around the huge fire in the middle of the camp.
And somehow, there was already a feeling there, especially when he turns his head to look at you, cat-like eyes reflecting the burning fire, though the warmth they show you is their own. There's something in his gaze that made your heart beat just a bit faster. Something within him and his presence that offered you something new.
A little spark from his fire, jumping over to grow your little flame.

Cute things Jake does with you ♡♡
Tumblr media
♡ Sometimes, the two of you will wander around the forest, Jake pointing out wildlife to you to watch you smile in excitement, stroking a hand down the dip of your back while you continue on. The two of you sometimes find little opening patches of grass among the forest floor, settling down among the flowing grass to relax in the ambiance of your home. You'll rest in the sun, tail swinging gently and ears relaxed against your hair, twitching ever so slightly as you hear Jake maneuver around next to you. When you wake, he's running his hand over your shoulder softly, not to wake you but just in a comfort. The touch pulls you into him as you sit up, the grass flowing against your skin softly. "Made this fr'you," his ears fall back bashfully as he holds up a folded flower crown, multicolored flowers and grass strewn among the vine of it. Immediately you're sequealing, sitting up onto your knees and dipping your head for him to put it on. He does so with a smile, chuckling at your excitement of the gift. You jump around, giggling and thanking him before sitting back down, pulling his hands into your lap, "teach me, I wanna make you to one too!" And you best believe he wore the flower crown you made for him until it fell apart.
♡ When the two of you are walking together, whether it be throughout the forest, across the roots that spread out across the sky, or near the abandoned base camp, Jake will always hold your hand. Massaging your knuckle and kissing your cheek ever so often as you both wander along. Almost always, his tail will find its way to your own, stroking the length of your own before linking your tails together. When ever your tails do link together, he always squeezes your hand, and you can sometimes catch his ears fall back <333
♡ When Jake rides his Ikran, Toruk, or Bob, he'll pull you up to sit in front of him on the saddle. Holding you by the waist and kissing your cheek ever so often, "you're so pretty," he'll whisper, stroking his hand on your hip softly.
♡ Jake will always be gentle with you when the two of you bond, either keeping a hand at the base of your neck and placing your foreheads to one another or squeezing the soft of your hand when doing so. Once the two of you make the bond, he shivers and sighs softly, "You feelin' okay?" <3333
♡ At night, Jake loves to rub your ears. Massaging the tips or petting at the base of them, he does it mostly because of how easily it brings you into a deep slumber, curled up beside him and tail linked with his own.
♡ Jake adores your nose. Sometimes, he'll walk right up to you while you're cutting fruit, squat down, and place a kiss on your nose and then go right back to whatever he was doing beforehand. He's learned not to boop or squeeze your nose though, last time he did that, you hissed and tried to bite him
♡ At night, when you can't sleep, he'll tell you stories about Earth, about the mountains and the animals there, and his brother. You'll sometimes ask him if he ever misses it, if he wish he could go back, and he always shakes his head, "why would I go back, I have everything I could ever want right here." Tickling your ribs softly. <33
♡ He really likes to bring you cool rocks he finds when he returns from hunts, calling you over to your hammock, "y/n, c'mere, wanna show you something." You'll sit beside him near the fire and watch as he puts different rocks down in front of you, explaining why he likes each one. "I want you to have this one because it's a pinkish blue, and It reminded me of you." You keep the rock and have it put together with your clothing so that you always have it <3
♡ Jake will literally pull your tail to get your attention. He's done it once, and it didn't end well. And he'll continue to do it because it's so tempting for him.

helloo , could you possibly do y, k, and L for lapis ? tysm !!
Yep!
Character- Lapis Lazuli
Letters- Y, K, L
Tumblr media
Y-Yelling at each other
-in a relationship with her, expect a lot of arguments and yelling.
-due to her trauma, she is more likely to get angry or stressed and lash out so be careful on what you say to her.
-she doesn’t mean it she just gets so stressed and can’t handle the situation.
-when she does you don’t yell back, most of the time, to prevent a large argument. when you do fight back then it gets bad, like real bad.
-you two will be yelling for a very long time unless one of you two decide to stop and apologize, or say something so insulting the other person stops.
-which is usually where you come in, she tends to do that to you when you two fight. When she realizes she hurt you bad, to the point where you’re actually really upset, she won’t forgive herself and she’ll be apologizing to you to the best of her abilities.
K-Kissing
-This definitely took her a little while, she show any sort of physical affection.
-she wasn’t very comfortable with it at first and didn’t even know how to do it, but she wanted to try it for you
-you let her take as much time as she needed though, and she liked the first time you tow kissed
-it wasn’t on the lips of course since she wasn’t ready for that, but it was on the forehead and he lived it.
-so she started to kiss you on the forehead more often. She likes kissing your face more than your lips
L-Lounging around on a Lazy Day
-doesn’t she do this all the time with peridot when there’s not some large gem problem?
-But with you it’s more fun. Unlike peridot, lapis can just snuggle you and Lena on you without your consent (hopefully) which brings her a lot of comfort
-You two usually tend to watch Camp Pining Hearts together since she really likes it, though you try to get her into some other shows and movies
-She ll say that she doesn’t think their that great, though she won’t admit that their good movies and shows since she’s stubborn
-Sometimes you two will read together or just hold and snuggle each other in her hammock or at your house

Camping with the Demon Brothers
a/n: i got inspired to write this while i was on my own trip a week or so ago. this is my first time writing about obey me so i'm excited to see what you guys think!
notes: gn!reader, one use of "mc" in Beel's section, headcanons, intentional lowercase, there is some description of fire (idk if that should be a warning), literally just tooth-rotting fluff
Lucifer:
- you probably had to arrange some time off for Lucifer with Diavolo in order to convince him to come.
- he finds it hard to relax on the trip even though you have a strict "no work" policy on the trip.
- he helps to plan things and gather supplies for the trip to make sure you have anything you could possibly need
- will you need a 24 pack of ponchos on your weekend trip? no. do you have them? yes.
- he isn't very picky about what equipment you all have. he would prefer sleeping in a camper, but there is also something captivating about sleeping in a tent under the stars.
- also doesn't matter where you guys sleep, waking up in the mid-day with you in his arms is even better when there is no reason to rush out of bed.
- he would probably be into a lot of the traditional camping activities. hiking is definitely something he would enjoy.
- weirdly enough, he would probably enjoy fishing with you. it's a quiet activity to spend quality time together. and if you do well, you have something to brag about when you go back to the HoL.
- he's definitely baffled by the idea of campfire food. he's just not acquainted with the idea of cooking food on open flame and outdoors
- he's definitely the type to purposely let a marshmallow burn to a crisp because it "gives a good flavor"
- this man probably has the best stories to tell around the fire too
Mammon
- as much as he would complain that you were dragging The Great Mammon to stay in the dirty and scary woods, he would really enjoy camping
- at least for the first time you guys definitely have a camper. he already was on the fence about camping in general, there's no way he's sleeping on the ground in a tent
- you tried to get him into a hammock, but he said it reminded him too much of being strung up from the ceiling during lucifer's punishments.
- he made it a point to avoid feeding the wildlife, complaining lightheartedly if you do so because what if you get stuck in the woods and need that food to survive
- he probably ends up getting a whole new set of clothes beforehand because he doesn't want anything to ruin his clothes
- you guys would probably play a lot of board games. there's something exhilarating about bickering as loud as you want about monopoly because no one is there to hear it
- he would probably try to make hell sauce ramen over the fire, but he would also try the more traditional camping snacks too
- if he hears a noise suggesting that an animal is in the shadows, he will leave you behind and lock himself in the camper. of course, the Great Mammon was definitely not scared ~
- you two probably sit by the fire for a bit, watching the flames and the stars above you.
- if you fall asleep on him, his cheeks will turn red definitely because of the heat of the fire and he sits frozen for a second
- he doesn't want to move and wake you up. he wants the moment to last longer so it's ingrained in his memory.
- he eventually maneuvers you to the bed, giving you a kiss on the forehead before joining you.
Leviathan
- it's really hard for you to convince him to go camping. like going outside is one of his least favorite things so it'll take a lot
- you guys definitely have a camper rather than a tent. you also have a place on the counter for henry to stay with you guys
- you guys stay in that camper most of the time. it's air conditioned, bug free, and overall more comfortable.
- you guys probably have a canopy with screens enclosing it to keep the bugs out. that's the closest you'll be able to get him to going outside.
- if you made the food, he would probably like a good bit of campfire food, but you guys are definitely having other snacks
- you guys essentially do what you do in the house of lamentation. you guys play games and watch anime, just outside.
- you surprised him with a projector screen and an air mattress to be able to watch anime outside.
- while he still prefers an indoor viewing experience, there was something really special about being bundled up with you and watching it under the night sky.
- you guys actually fell asleep like that, something that made him blush when he woke up with you in his arms
- maybe you guys should do this more often.
Satan
- this man does so much research into the best places to stay in either the devildom or the human realm, and also what supplies you would need for the trip.
- he probably packs a ton of books to take, so hopefully you guys have room for half of a public library.
- he wouldn't really mind what the sleeping arrangements are
- being in nature with him is really fun because he's like a walking encyclopedia. you guys would be hiking and he suddenly begins identifying trees and plants.
- satan interacting with wildlife 😍
- seriously though while they aren't cats, he still loves trying to feed the animals (and he would obviously know what foods are safest)
- over the trip he feeds one specific squirrel to the point that by the end of your trip, he is able to feed it from his hand
- you love seeing his face light up when animals come towards him. it's hard to decide which is cuter, the small sparrow hopping toward him or your boyfriends reaction.
- CAMPFIRE STORIES WITH HIM ARE THE BEST
- whether it be scary stories, poetry, anything; this man is the best at captivating you.
- he does probably get annoyed by the lack of good lighting for reading though. sometimes it is too bright to read in the sunlight, but when it gets dark his eyes strain to see. probably has a lot of book lights.
Asmodeus
- is camping with asmo really considered camping?
- he takes glam-ping to an extreme.
- you guys definitely have one of the roomiest campers in existence
- like a queen sized bed, a bathroom big enough to handle asmo's skincare routine, and a nice kitchen
- it's also air conditioned, and he won't want to go camping if the weather is too bad or too cold
- applies sunscreen to himself and yourself obsessively. he wouldn't want either of your skin getting sunburned.
- going off the grid is definitely not going to happen. asmo is constantly snapping pics to post on devilgram
- he'll take pictures of anything. trees, flowers, animals, you.
- a lot of the traditional camping activities are off the table for him. anything that could get him dirty or ruin his clothes is a no go.
- he likes having picnics and sitting outside as long as there is a way to protect his clothes
- he also likes watching the wildlife from a distance. he'll leave some food out for the squirrels to watch them eat it
- the camper definitely has a skylight so you can watch the stars while you lie in bed.
Beelzebub
- going camping with beel means you have a lot to pack. 90 percent of it is food.
- he puts more effort into finding ways to protect the food from critters compared to actually packing stuff he would need for the trip.
- you guys go on a lot of hikes. walking through nature is always more fun then just working out in the gym.
- you guys definitely have a tent and air mattress situation.
- no matter the weather it's comfortable because you have fans if it's warm and if it's cold, you have a personal space heater and his name is beelzebub
- you guys have a campfire going almost constantly. guys imagine beel chopping wood
- beel tries to cook everything over the fire. popcorn. pizza. cookies. everything. because the smoke gives it a good flavor.
- at first he has a hard time sharing food with the wildlife, but after seeing your reaction to a chipmunk eating a peanut, he's willing to sacrifice a bite of his snack to see you smile again
- you show him campfire recipes from the human world.
- you show him what a real smore is, having it with actual marshmallows is completely different then what they have in the devildom
- you try to show him how to toast a marshmallow but he keeps eating the marshmallow off the stick
- however when he does finally make the smore he loves it
- after you have yours, he totally pulls the "hey MC, you have something right here" and kisses the melted chocolate off your lips
Belphegor
- basically, the only con to this trip of yours is that you will probably have to do most of the work to set up while your boyfriend takes a nap in the car.
- get ready for some sick naps
- obviously he would prefer to sleep in his own bed at the HoL, but he would be down to just go out for a weekend and not have the comfort of his home.
- you guys would probably have a tent with a clear roof/netted roof so you are sleeping under the stars. the mattress would probably be the best air mattress that grimm can buy
- HAMMOCK NAPS!! get a hammock that holds two and y'all could sleep for hours. there's something so soothing about feeling the breeze and gently rocking.
- as much as he would like to go on a hike to see the wildlife, that takes effort. he would absolutely watch the animals scurry around from comfort of a chair, however.
- the only time you guys aren't think about relaxing is in the dead of night. the area you are in is dark enough in the evening to go stargazing.
- belphie spends a good portion of the night telling you about different constellations.
- he keeps stealing glances at you. he thinks the look of awe on your face when finally understanding the shape of the constellations is adorable.
- you also keep stealing glances at him. hearing him talk about something he is passionate about is so attractive.

I wish i could've camped for a couple days longer. We brought such good food and had everything we needed, if we'd only been able to afford to book the camp site for two more nights. (My friends bought the first nights for us all, but I didn't have the $70 + fees for more reservations.)
I made a shitload of food from scratch including tomato sauce, refried beans, sloppy joe lentils, a loaf of white sandwich bread, a loaf of seasoned Italian bread. Bfr made us corn and potato chowder and big oatmeal raisin cookies, both of which were phenomenal, as well as a batch of homemade cashew milk to bring along. On site we cooked scrambled eggs and leftover baked beans and corn grits, toasted pitas and tortillas, we shredded a big block of mild cheese and chopped the last of our cherry tomatoes from home to make burritos. I used my ancient aeropress to make us hot coffee each morning from a jar of fresh grounds from home. Everything we brought was so goddamn good, and everything we made on site was surprisingly good, except the grits which were undercooked.
We lounged around in hammocks and I read my trashy true crime paperback from the 90s, and the Junji Ito cat diary manga I got from an inter-library loan. None of us got drunk or trashed or felt like we needed to be on psychedelics in order to appreciate being outdoors. My friend asked me to be the best man in his November wedding and I was super surprised and said yes of course. I felt cherished by my friends and adored by my partner. Things were just so quiet and easy and pressure-free. Bfr and I had plenty of camping gear between us and didn't need to buy anything new. We were able to make most of what we brought to eat from what we already had on hand, and spent under $50 for the 3-day trip in terms of gasoline, firewood, and specially-bought food/entertainment/supplies.
It takes SO much planning to do things on an extreme budget, but it's also much easier to share the planning load between two people. I've been alone for long enough that I'd forgotten how much easier it is to set up a tent with help, how much easier it is to maintain a clean campsite, and break it down at the end without stress.
I'm trying to appreciate everything now that I think might be impossible later (due to climate change, my employment situation, my age and physical health etc). Idk what else my overall takeaway is--or if I even need to have a conclusion from this experience. It's all a part of the balance that is currently working for me and keeping me well, I guess.

Hongjoong’s tired.
He’s tired of fending off mosquitos. He’s tired of feeling sweat run down his back. He’s tired of the uncomfortable cot he has to sleep on.
He’s tired of being outside.
He just wants to go home.
Luckily, all he must do is endure one more day. One more day of mosquitos, sweat, restless sleeping, and wilderness.
He can do it.
Maybe.
“You want to do what?” he asks, body filling with a mix of dread and defeat.
You finish applying the last of your sunscreen before handing him the item.
“I want us to go paddle boating!” you repeat.
Hongjoong blinks at you, sunscreen forgotten.
“Aren’t those the ones you have to pedal to move?” he questions. Even though he knows he’s right, he hopes you answer differently.
“Yup!”
His shoulders sag.
“How about kayaking instead?” he suggests. It’s something he can sit down and only have to move his arms every so often. His legs are already aching at the thought of pedaling for hours.
“We did that two days ago,” you huff and grab the sunscreen. You squirt some on your fingertips then smear it across his face.
He swats your hands away and begins rubbing it in—though, not without sending you a (harmless) glare.
You shrug and explain, “You weren’t doing it, and we’re losing daylight. Hurry, Joong!”
Hongjoong had always thought he knew when to say no, but if that were true, he wouldn’t be seated in a generic blue boat with an already-wet butt.
“How do we steer this?” you question beside him.
He glances around, then points to the steering handle that’s in between you.
You grab it and tug, feeling something shift before you start going in a new direction.
“We’re doing so good, Joongie!” you exclaim with a smile.
Hongjoong’s eyes cast down briefly at your lips before averting his gaze. Despite his aching legs, he’s happy to see you smile so freely.
He admits to himself the view is beautiful, peaceful even, and he tries to focus on that instead of the pain.
Thankfully, the boating only lasts for an hour, with a few breaks here and there, and then you’re both taking showers.
Hongjoong arrives at the campsite before you, so he rests his sore legs while he can in his hammock.
He doesn’t realize he fell asleep until he’s being prodded with something.
His eyes peel open reluctantly. He gets a glimpse of you pulling away and figures you just poked him awake.
“I really wore you out, hm?” you giggle.
You’re standing near him, smiling down at him with a hand on your hip.
Hongjoong grins lazily and sits up; his legs are on either side of the hammock. The sun behind you casts a soft outer glow around your body. He thinks you look stunning and wishes he had his camera to remember this moment.
“You did,” he hums, voice low and slightly gravelly from exhaustion.
You bite your lip and look away for a moment. “Are you hungry?”
“I could eat,” he shrugs.
“Then let’s eat before it gets dark,” you instruct.
Hongjoong nods, and you step away to gather the ingredients.
You and Hongjoong prepare dinner with minimal conversation. For some, the silence may be uncomfortable, but with you, Hongjoong’s at ease. He enjoys the simple sounds of chopping food, birds chirping, and sizzling meat.
When you’re both done eating and seated around the fireplace, Hongjoong’s mind wanders.
The dancing flames in front of you both and the soft crackling of the fire provide a peaceful atmosphere that he gets lost in.
Had anyone else asked to go on a five-day camping trip, he would’ve refused profusely. Had anyone else asked to go kayaking, play sand volleyball, or go paddle boating, he would’ve declined and sat on the sidelines. But because it was you who had asked, he had said yes.
He finds he says yes to you more than anyone.
“Joong,” your voice lulls him out of his thoughts.
“Hm?” He looks at you.
“Try this,” you offer and present him a s’more. The marshmallow is burnt to perfection and the chocolate is quickly melting.
Hongjoong opens his mouth, letting you bring the treat to his lips. The bite he takes causes the dessert to ooze into your hand and you pull away to lick at it.
He chews slowly as he watches you.
“How is it?” you ask, licking the corner of your mouth.
“Good,” he replies while chewing.
“Something wrong?” you question and take a bite of the s’more you made.
Hongjoong fidgets in his camp chair, debating on telling you what he’s been hiding. You eye him as you eat, though don’t say anything as you wait.
When you finally nudge him with your leg, he sighs and rests his elbows on his knees—eyes focused on the flames.
“I think I like you,” he confesses.
You don’t say anything for a few seconds, and it causes Hongjoong’s heart to thump rapidly in his chest.
“You think?” you ask, but there’s a hint of playfulness to your voice that informs him you’re not mad.
He glances back at you.
You’ve finished the s’more and are cleaning your hands with a wipe. There’s not an ounce of surprise on your face, which he finds a little odd.
“No! I know I like you,” he quickly corrects. “I like you.”
You smile and lean on your knees as well.
“Prove it.”
“W-what?” he asks, eyes growing.
“Prove you like me.”
“I’m here, no?”
You smirk and lean closer.
“That’s true,” you pause, “but I want something more.”
“More?” he repeats, trying not to glance at your lips that are so near.
“More, Hongjoong.”
He sits still as he tries to understand what you’re wanting. It’s not until you inch closer that he gets it and quickly leans in the rest of the way.
You smile instantly when his lips touch yours, a hand coming up to card through his hair.
Hongjoong carefully slides off his chair to kneel between your legs—lips still on yours and hands resting on your hips.
The kiss goes on for a while longer before you’re both pulling apart with smiles adorning your faces.
“I like you, too, Joongie,” you say.
“I get the feeling you knew I liked you for a while,” Hongjoong comments.
You give him a guilty smile and straighten your posture.
“Maybe,” you reply.
“For how long?”
“A while,” you trail off.
“Why didn’t you say anything?” he frowns.
You push his hair off his face to see him clearly.
“Because I needed a camping buddy,” you tease before pressing a quick kiss to his exposed forehead.
He groans and rests his head against your tummy. You laugh, ruffling his hair.
“I’m getting you back somehow,” he mumbles.
“Hm, okay,” you reply, then gently ease his face away from your body. “But for now, we should get some sleep. We have to wake up early to pack tomorrow.”
Hongjoong exhales a deep breath at the idea of taking down the tent. It was a pain to put up—at least for him—so the thought of taking it down sounds just as troublesome. He’s tempted to tell you to leave it and buy another one for next time… If there’s a next time.
“One more kiss?” he asks.
You grin and nod, lowering your face to his.
Hongjoong’s not sure if the craving for more comes from his fondness for you or the taste of the s’more from earlier. Regardless, he pulls away before he deepens the kiss any more.
“Does this mean you’ll be mine?” he wonders.
“Ask me,” you reply.
He smiles and takes hold of one of your hands.
“Yn, will you be mine?”
“Yes.”
