My shitpost time has arrived :D Feel free to disagree.

Boss:Erwin,he is the the highest ranked person of the family known as the father.He values his family more than anything and wants their peace and freedom.Loyalty is everything to him.

Acting Boss:Zeke,his entire point is to look like the boss to public eye to guarentee Erwin's safety.He would have been assassinated already by now if not for his capo brother Eren's attention.

Counselor:Levi,he only and directly works for Erwin usually spies the underboss and capos in secret.Also he's the icon of the family and very greatly known although only by name.He often visits his old ghetto to make sure his friends Farlan and Isabel are alright.

Underboss:Hange,she rules the capos and takes orders only and directly from Erwin.She's known by her 'experimental' torture methods among the soldiers.Also she has an secret involvement with counselor Levi that can get her killed if noticed.Zeke seems a little too interested in that affair of hers.

Hitman:Reiner,he usually only works for Hange but Erwin can reach out to him aswell.His duty is to kill strayed capos and soldiers.On this matter he killed many of his friends and often wishes to be killed than to kill.Despite his terrible mental health he recently adopted 2 streets kids named Gabi and Falco yet they are unaware of Reiner's real job.

Capo1:Jean,rumors say he has the brightest future among all the capos because of his great leading abilities and understanding of the family.Also very close friends with Reiner but hides it from Hange.He's somehow popular among city's women aswell.

Capo2:Armin,many says he's the smartest capo of them all and Hange will leave his seat to him.On this matter everybody thinks he is rivals with Jean but in reality they are best friends since soldier days and they move up together.

Capo3:Floch,even though his leading abilities are well respected and he is loved among the soldiers he's known to cause unnecessary chaos in the city.He's a big trouble for Hange so he might end up as being Reiner's new target.

Ex-Capo:Eren,once a skilled capo,he betrayed the family and almost got killed.Some say Erwin forgave him while others say Reiner showed mercy but reality is unknown.His whereabouts are also unknown.

Soldier1:Mikasa,known for her incredible fighting skills she's actually quite famous in the city very much like Levi.Only reason she's not a capo already is because she's very individualistic.Also acklowledged by Levi,she was quite involved with Eren but she proved her loyalty by staying with the family.

Soldier2:Connie,he's rather known by his loyalty and selflessnes towards family than skills.He is heavily relied on by Armin and Jean,gets sent off to most trust required jobs.

Soldier3:Sasha,she is greatly noticed for her sharp shooting skills.Hange wants her to be an Hitman but everybody knows her sweet spot for her friends so she's likely to stay as a soldier to protect the family.

Political representor:Historia,she's a young business woman comes from a rich family.Recently she made it into city council and makes sure to bend council decisions for the family's benefit.

Guardog:Ymir,an ex soldier she is,makes sure Historia is safe and keeps the communication between Historia and the family.When needed she handles Historia's dirty work for her and only actually loyal to her, even though she knows she's closely watched by Reiner.

Associate1:Annie,she's an police officer with an everyday life but occasionally she destroys crime evidences for the family.She taught Reiner how to shoot and Eren to fight when they were all streetkids.Known by very little,she got involved with the family in the first place to make sure her favorite capo is out of police's eye.

Associate2:Pieck,she's a popular courtesan that usually seen with the upper society of the city.For enough money she can do whatever to whoever,including 'accidental' coke overdose.

Associate3:Bertholdt,sells hunting equipments in his everyday life but secretly he traffics guns and whatsoever for the family.

Associate4:Porco,he wanted to be a soldier but due to his brother's sabotage he missed the chance of being one.Nowadays he gathers 'taxes' from clubs and casinos for the family.He secretly steals large amounts of that 'tax' and causes discomfort to the owners.

Associate5:Marcel,he is a journalist that works for the city newspaper and he is responsible from family's reputation and public representation.Even though back then he was very protective of his brother nowadays they are known to be in bad terms.Rumors say they both crush over the city's most popular escort.

What if nobody died?

This is a joke and completely delusional of me, but here are my AOT characters sweet and peaceful endings if death and depression weren't AOTs moto

Carla would be still alive, we would have more screen time from this absolute milf (Sorry, I am feral for her), being the best mom and Eren always by her side, taking care of her, when he is not traveling with Armin.

Mikasa is either with Carla or occasionally traveling with Armin and Eren. She's out of the military for certain and just chilling, probably became a painter or writer.

Armin, my sweet beloved Armin, just travels around the world (if the titans were taken care of) and becomes this super notorious writer and explorer. I genuinely think he would be a scientist and inventor, like his parents.

Jean probably follows the military career, even become commander when he was older. This man fights for people, and if Marco is by his side...we would see big changes in Paradis military system!

Sasha and Connie would probably remain two chaotic creatures that live in a farm. Sasha would also remain in the military, in my opinion. She likes teaching young people and helping her community. Connie just decided to live a quiet life with his family, probably in a farm close to Sasha's family estate.

Ymir and Historia are married and queens. That's it. They are icons and care for many orphans (even if Ymir is awkward with them).

Erwin, Levi and Hange are retired and on permanent vacation. Permanent vacation! Also, Levi's squad is alive and well. Levi is one of those old dudes who accidentally got adopted by children despite his very mean face.

Reiner has a family. He probably has a bunch of kids that he loves so much. He is the best father in the world because his own dad was trash. HE IS NO CONTACT WITH HIS MOM!!!

Bertholdt is honestly just living his best life, just sleeping in weird positions and resting. No I don't think he got with Annie. I can imagine him becoming a teacher.

Annie just disappeared and took Pieck with her. She is living in a cabin far away with zero human contact and a bunch of chickens and goats. That girl deserves peace. Pieck is there because it's quiet and she can nap all day.

Porco and Marcel are happy siblings, so are Colt and Falco. Falco and Gabi actually married, I don't make the rules.

Zeke is just...Zeke. I think he becomes a doctor and runs an abortion clinic. Not elaborating on that.

My man Onyankopon is a rich dude on a paradise island, just chilling and being the handsome man that he is. Probably is the one who brought Hange, Levi and Erwin to the island for their eternal vacation.

Do you think Reiner and Jean can ever get to a point where they can talk about their trainee days without it feeling painful or awkward? Just have a fun time remember the old days when they were young and training?

Yes.

They both did horrible things to protect the world they loved. They both were villains in someone's story when they thought themselves heroes. They both killed people to save others. And, sure, their circumstances weren't exactly the same. Their kill count wasn't, either. But, the harsh reality is that they both did what they did for the greater good.

It's the realization and acceptance of what connects them, rather than divides, that allows them to find peace. By forgiving one another, they also forgive themselves. They look back fondly at the years they spent together as kids. Of course, it is bitter-sweet, but to forget about those times would be to forget about their dead friends. Not to talk about those times would be to ignore what has brought the two of them together.

Max Porter writes about grief in a way that really speaks to me:

"Moving on, as a concept, is for stupid people, because any sensible person knows grief is a long-term project. I refuse to rush. The pain that is thrust upon us let no man slow or speed or fix."

Jean and Reiner grieve the same things: dead friends, lost innocence, the fact that they became traitors to the people they had cared about... Their grief is a two-man project, and their happy memories are their weapon against the pain that came later.

Eren and Jean's fights? Bertholdt's sleeping positions? Sasha's unwillingness to give Shadis the bigger half of her potato? Those things are too precious (and iconic) for Reiner and Jean not to talk about them. They were happy back then.

And they can be happy again.

I don’t care what anyone says erwin should’ve lived

I haven’t been able to see the show the same way after his death

The plot armor is crazy. And I’m saying this as someone who actually likes armin. He even used to be my number 1 back in season 1, but the plot really did the both of them dirty

It’s as hange explained. Armin is exceptional, but so was erwin. The difference is erwin also had the leadership and the experience. People who say armin was the correct choice because of his potential fail to mention that despite all of his gambles erwin managed to stay alive for much longer and it was also during a time when they knew practically nothing about the titans. We also got to see more of armin because he’s one of the main characters alongside eren and mikasa, so all of Erwin’s past achievements weren’t really highlighted the way Armin’s were. Almost everything that eren mentioned - being able to seal the hole of trost, discovering Annie’s identity, traveling during the night, defeating reiner, are all inaccurate. Was armin part of all of these, yes, but he wasn’t the sole or even the key reason these were achieved, which was what he made it sound like. If it weren’t for Pyxis they would’ve had no chance to begin with back in trost, had Pyxis not arrived in time they would’ve been blasted. With Annie it just so happened with the plot that they were in the same year/class together. I imagine with Erwin’s brains he would’ve figured it out as well. And correct me if I’m wrong but traveling during the night was first and foremost established through hange’s experiments, and I might be remembering this wrong but didn’t they have training through the snow as well for this purpose because in snowy weather there wouldn’t be sun? It’s not rocket science, if titans usually only move when the sun’s out the plan to move during the night is pretty obvious. Defeating Reiner was largely also thanks to the thunder spears that hange introduced to them. The only things that armin really came up with on his own are finding out where Reiner was hiding and distracting bertholdt while eren was sealing the wall and then for eren to go for his neck at the end of it. Let’s also not forget that while armin was panicking jean reminded him of why they shouldn’t lure bertholdt to the wall at the time, and then afterwards armin asked if jean could take over. I understand eren and mikasa are fifteen years old during this time, but it doesn’t change the fact that they were being very selfish and irrational.

I’m not denying that armin is very smart, but he really isn’t the only smart person in the series and imo isn’t the smartest or the wisest either. One of the most iconic moments of season 1 for me personally was at the end of it when jean and armin were conversing. Jean asks a question armin wasn’t able to answer, and this shows that armin with all his reasoning and intellect has his weak points too when it comes to logic and even morality imo. On the other hand if we’re talking about potential as a leader I also see jean as a better fit. Armin is more of a strategist that is good for behind the scenes action. He doesn’t shine as much in an actual battlefield imo. His good qualities have been blown a little out of proportion because of plot armor. I currently like him even more than I like eren or mikasa but this is the hill I will die on.

If we’re talking about dreams, I also believe it’s faulty logic to say erwin would’ve lost all of his motivation after reaching the basement and that that is why armin was the right choice, because, according to eren, he has “dreams”. Everyone has dreams. Everyone has different motivations. Erwin said he wouldn’t know what he would do next after reaching the basement, that doesn’t mean his dream of finding out the truth is somehow inferior to armin’s dream of seeing the sea??? It simply means he doesn’t know what’s going to happen, which is fair. Erwin’s dream was selfish but so was armin’s. People argue erwin had to sacrifice and manipulate so many people just to achieve his own dream but they don’t mention that without the same sacrifices there’s no way armin would’ve been able to see the sea either. The difference here is that erwin did something about it. And let’s not pretend erwin never did anything for humanity either because in all of his selfishness he still did. Let’s also not pretend armin never did anything questionable. He said it himself, sometimes you have to give up some of your humanity, and he did at times - manipulating Annie, Reiner, and bertholdt. I’m not saying he shouldn’t have done these things, but were they questionable in terms of morality? I do think so. Especially going back to the conversation between jean and armin at the end of season 1, it is implied that armin would be willing to let eren become a monster if it meant saving the rest of humanity. Regardless of whether or not it’s the right thing to do, it certainly seems questionable imo.

The only thing I can sort of accept is Levi’s logic. He chose erwin by letting him die, because it was time for him to rest. In Levi’s mind erwin had done enough. Erwin was selfish but he wasn’t without empathy or guilt. But the key words here are “sort of”. Levi did it to preserve Erwin’s humanity but objectively it still wasn’t the right choice. I understand it and can “sort of” accept it but I still don’t agree with it. Ultimately it was also a selfish decision. A little less selfish than eren’s and mikasa’s, but still selfish all the same.

Just to be clear this isn’t a hate post directed towards armin or whoever else. Armin didn’t deserve to bear the weight of Erwin’s death and etc., and Erwin didn’t deserve to die that way. It was just a really crappy situation. But with all things considered I still believe erwin should’ve lived. I like the both of them but erwin was the obvious choice for me, and I feel like this thought will be very hard to overturn but I’d be happy to be proven wrong since I’m not done with watching the series.

Thoughts on the Reiner Braun Orientation Mystery

Because the material in Attack Junior High was made relevant to canon by the inclusion of Reiner Sniffing the letter at the end we can asses there’s a good chance the rest of the info on him is likely now canon.

First of all, Reiner is a chronic disease patient, he lives with type 1 diabetes. That’s why he’s losing weight. Always sweating, cold, tired, disoriented. He has an undiagnosed autoimmune disease for the bulk of the time we see him.

The “good smell ” he smells at the end, he isn’t smelling perfume. Type 1 diabetics smell & taste fruit & acetone. He’s in diabetic keto acidosis. It’s his breath that would literally smell like some kind of lady’s fragrance. Even though of course there’s no such thing as a gender for a smell, just assigned feminine in that time.

Ymir comments explicitly that Reiner smells like fruit in a spin off. Given his condition this finally explains why she teases him. He smells like he’s wearing perfume.

I don’t want to discount his feelings. But odds on he’s genuinely bisexual. Because he’s based on the Greek god Apollo we can see some of what he feels from his interactions with & the ultimate fates of a few people around him.

Hyancinthus, Daphne’s & Cassandra are all applicable as a way to understand his sexuality.

Hyacinthus was Apollos male lover who died getting hit in the head on accident. This tracks with Bertholdt & potentially Marco & Porco. Who all died of head trauma. Now I doubt very much he was with Marco.

Daphne’s the nymph didn’t reciprocate Apollo so she transformed into a laurel. Like Historia.

Cassandra was another lover of Apollo’s who hesitated to kiss him so he gave her the gift of prophecy but nobody listened to her. Like Pieck.

It should be stated we can’t assume his orientation. But this is helpful to understanding what Reiner’s love life actually looks like.

My boi bertholdt is a celebrity! Look at all the promotional material and art pre-season 4 and you'll see him bertl peeping at the foreground in his titan form. Maybe it's intentional that bert's colossal is in the background to fit his character. But people looooove to separate bert from his iconic titan form. I don't. Truth of the matter is bertholdt is an anime icon.

If you haven't seen this 2016 interview, you'll probably enjoy it. Isayama calls the Colossal Titan the “God of the SnK” world and the mascot of the series. Like you, I don't separate the characters. Bert is the icon 💕

And for sure, he is all over series art and merch. And don't forget the food!! One of my favorite experiences while in Japan was ordering the "colossal wall of meat" 😂
