39 and 55 for Tav/Astarion? OH AND I LOVE WANT IT ALL, YOUR WRITING IS IMPECCABLE ‼️<3
Tumblr media
Prompt(s): leaning into the other’s side + tracing the lines on the other’s hand
Astarion x AsexaulBard!Tav Masterlist
Tumblr media
There really was nothing like being pleasantly tipsy while in good company. Your party was in good spirits, the night was warm and, for once, danger was something that happened to other people.
Eventually everyone had shuffled off to bed, leaving you and Astarion leaning against each other as the fire crackled on.  Your thoughts floated in front of you, swimming lazily in the air. Everything was just so lovely, especially the other hand in yours.  You couldn’t help but run your fingers across the lines, smiling as you made a study of every angle.
“See something you like,” Astarion asked, amused.  He was decidedly more sober than you and appeared content to stay that way.
You nodded idly. “You have beautiful hands. I bet you’d make a wonderful pianist.”
He gave a low laugh, shaking you slightly with the effort.
“What?”
“Oh nothing,” he said, grinning. “You just might be the only person I know who could study a man’s hands and think only of their musical capabilities.”
You stared confused, before a sinking rush of embarrassment flooded your stomach.
“Oh.”
He laughed again, turning just enough to kiss your temple. “Just teasing darling. Although I do love that color on your cheeks.”
“Serves me right for trying to give you a compliment,” you said, pouting.
“Oh don’t be like that. I relish them all.”
You huffed in childish annoyance, which only seemed to humor him. He then raised your entwined hands to the firelight, narrowing his gaze as if to examine them himself.
“Do you think I’d actually be good?” he asked as a peace offering.
You let out a sigh. There really was no use trying to stay annoyed with him.
“Capability is there,” you allowed, “provided you have a very, very patient teacher.”
“Are you offering?”
You raised an eyebrow. “Don’t tell me you’re interested.”
“Depends if you’re offering,” he repeated, with a sly smile.
You didn’t answer right away, scrunching your face in exaggerated thought.
“Maybe not piano,” you concluded. “There’s only so far the blind can lead the blind.”
He nodded in understanding. “How about the violin?”
Again, you considered before shaking your head. “Too difficult for a beginner. Lute isn’t bad though.”
He gave a dismissive scoff. “Overdone. The lyre, perhaps?”
“Bit on the nose don’t you think?”
His brows furrowed, his lips pursing in consideration. “A lyre and a player…Yes, I suppose you’re right. The jokes just write themselves. Flute?”
You shrugged. “Never learned actually.”
“Really?” he said, sounding genuinely surprised. “Pan pipes.”
“No.”
“Horns?”
“No to all wind instruments. I think it comes down to mechanics. I never saw the appeal of having to put my lips together and blow.”
You glanced up at Astarion, keen to watch his reaction.
He stared at you for a long second, a look of utter confusion on his face. His eyes then widened as a loud laugh barked from his lips.
You broke that same instant, dissolving into giggles.
“I can’t believe you said that,” he said, trying and failing to get a hold of himself. “Gods that was awful!”
“But effective,” you pointed out, grinning.
He gave another short laugh before shaking his head. “What have I gotten myself into with you?”
“Having regrets?”A wicked smirk flashed across his face. “Far from it, darling.” He then leaned in close, his eyes alight with conspiracy and mirth. “I think you and I are going to have a lot of fun together.”

Aleheather headcanons because why not :))
Tumblr media
They moved into an apartment together after All Stars; it’s not exactly the lavish lifestyle they pictured but it’s cozy and comfortable for the moment
I personally don’t think Heather would name her cat Bruiser; I think it’s actually the family cat and that’s what her younger brothers decided to name him
After moving in together, they got a little white cat named Blanca (courtesy of Alejandro ofc)
“Blanca? W— isn’t that just white in Spanish??”
“Exactly. It fits perfectly for her.”
That said, Alejandro’s more of a dog person but he’s not opposed to cats; Heather LOVES cats but big dogs are not her thing though
They’ll dance together in their living room at 2 am, maybe sway the cat around too
Alejandro is the master chef while Heather is the resident baker
They enjoy hosting dinner parties for their friends! Duncan and Courtney, and Lindsay and Tyler are their most common guests
Heather is a WIZARD at the piano
Sometimes when Alejandro has a nightmare she’ll play to relax and comfort him; his favorite is Solamente Una Vez
Alejandro can play guitar at a beginner-intermediate level
Sometimes they’ll duet with their respective instruments + occasional singing
Courtney will come over and sometimes bring her violin so she and Heather can play together — and they’ll absolutely bring the house down every time; their signature piece is The Swan
Duncan will make fun of Alejandro cause he gets emotional everytime they play it
“Oh man are you crying?”
“Well at least I’m able to emotionally appreciate good talent!!”
I think Courtney helped Heather get her million back (with the help of her lawyers and finessing the system ofc)
First thing they did once receiving it — put that shit in the BANK
Alejandro’s Catholic; Heather isn’t religious :P
Heather doesn’t talk to her parents (or her family) anymore; she claims she doesn’t care but Alejandro knows it hurts
Alejandro has a good relationship with his parents and family (well maybe not José) despite his inferiority complex lmao; although FreshTV did say Alejandro’s not the favorite in his family
I think that role goes to Carlos since he’s the professional soccer player, but Carlos gets demoted to second favorite after his parents meet Heather
His mom adores Heather, she’s the daughter she never had; his dad isn’t rlly around cause of work but he’s quite fond of her too from the few times he’s met her
Alejandro and José made a bet about whether he would win Total Drama
When he got the call from Chris about TD Dirtbags, you bet your ass he was outta the house
Alejandro’s parents had literally no idea he went on the show (nor did they care LOL)
His mom found out when he called him after Chris announced World Tour and his dad found out when they were showing one of the eps on a hotel TV and saw him
Heather braids her hair when she’s stressed! She can do all sorts of braids from fishtail to Dutch
The only person allowed to play with Alejandro’s hair is her; he’s not fond of having it in two parts (i.e. braids and pigtails) but he makes an exception for her
Sometimes when she has a nightmare, Alejandro lets her braid and play with his hair to calm her down
Heather is terrified of vulnerability, due to a fear of rejection and being alone; she combats this by pushing everyone away to not face any potential possibilities of being rejected by anybody
The first time she said ‘I love you’ to Alejandro (not counting the WT confession) resulted in a panic attack and almost passing out (I wrote a fic about this hehe)
Occasionally Heather has doubts about Alejandro’s objective with her and their relationship — why he chose her of all people, if this could all end up a mistake in the future, if she can trust him, etc.
Alejandro’s patient though, he provides as many reassurances as she needs to hear
It’s taken a lot of time and coaxing to get her to take down her walls and let him in but they’re making progress; he just loves her so much and wants happiness for her :’)
They’re both afraid of losing the other but Heather’s fear is more extreme than Alejandro’s
I’ll update if I think of more lol but feel free to add to the list !!

charles leclerc would... (random)
Tumblr media
if you are into rock and roll, he would ask you to send him your playlist (so he can listen to it in his car, would try to learn to play it on piano tho)
if your mother tounge isn't french, italian or english, he would go on duolingo, then give up, then he would search on yt the fastest way to learn your language!!! (charles needs to go on duolingo and try english........)
he would buy some beginner book on your mother language and try to fasten up his process of learning
if you don't like some of the veggies, he would try his best to hide it in a dish! (would blend it and then make a soup) (he only know how to cook soup so it's fine ig)
would try to use his fame to get to talk your favourite tennis players in monaco during monte carlo masters
im just so tired of everything just want to sleep for monts at this point....

Sometimes I think about how you were all "A friend of mine knows how to make music and is helping me with it" and then that friend turned out to be one of the most highly praised video game music composers of the century.
Anyway, I wanted to mention how good your music is. You joke a lot about how if a piece is good, then that means Toby made it. But it's all good. If it weren't for you listing out who made what, I wouldn't be able to tell whose music was whose. From a players perspective, the music all works well to enhance the scenes they accompany. And it definitely doesn't seem to go from a good piece to a piece made by a beginner.
I'm trying to make my own game. I've wanted to for a long time but I felt like I couldn't do something like that unless I had a whole team working the different aspects. And your journey of talking about learning Renpy and learning to make music has pushed me to try. And I've been enjoying the process a lot so far. I don't have a professional teaching me, but I'm trying to make my own music too. And if I can make music half as good as your original pieces, then I will have well exceeded my own expectations.
i mean...he's my friend. i didn't specify because i wanted to avoid this kind of response before the thing was even out.
anyway, i appreciate the kind words. i had sort of the same feelings as you about making a game on my own, but i can think of no more accessible engine than ren'py. good luck with your own project!
if you're interested in learning how to make music, i'd recommend picking up an instrument. i've fallen completely off piano practice, but it was pretty helpful for me initially.

assigning the lbc boys concert/marching band instruments for my own sick kicks
a huge thank you to mello who aided me in this serious endeavor.
ayn: he plays piano, sure, but that isn't an instrument you see in concert band and especially not marching band. ayn is very much so a soloist, and you know what instrument likes to pretend it's playing a solo during a group performance? the trumpet. first chair. he's cocky and unfortunately he can back his attitude up with real skill.
alkaid: flute. first chair. practices so, so often. will take on piccolo parts because no one else wants that stress and responsibility. he's also the only guy in the whole entire section, but it doesn't bother him. though rumor has it that half of the section keeps fighting for second chair just to sit next to him. THAT bothers him.
lars: the council was debating this one for a while and settled upon the bari sax. lars has the vibes of both an alto sax player, and a brass player. so why not go with a mix of both? while not the first chair, lars can get serious when need be, but enjoys goofing around and playing meme songs during down time.
clarence: oboe. originally played the clarinet, but stepped it up a notch with the notoriously difficult oboe. though he will play clarinet in marching band to avoid destroying his precious (and expensive) oboe from the Elements.
cael: clarinet. just look at me and tell me this guy doesn't give off clarinet energy. beginner clarinets often sound horrible and squeaky, but by god does this man make the clarinet sound like the most elegant and soothing instrument on this planet.
mc: obvious 'insert whatever instrument you want here' joke. but considering her personality, if i had to assign an instrument, she's giving french horn/mellophone. that bold, brassy sound, but also with the capacity to sound beautiful and elegant when played right.

The only one thing that concerned me about Aplo here is their "advice".
Like, how can you expect beginners who JUST started playing pjsekai or rhythm games in general immediately go after ALL PERFECT???
Here's my Advice for beginners as a middle-pro:
*DON'T RUSH ANYTHING!!!!!*
Alright... the thing is, everything is about practice. I wasn't even a good player in the beginning cause pjsekai was kind of my first rhythm game that I played (I remember playing Piano Tiles or smt). I've been playing this game for about 1-2 years already, I managed to FC 120-130 songs on master and only AP 11 songs on master.
In order to get AP songs, you need to get good cards, level up charecters, their masters and Skills, also don't forget about plants and charecters' Items in order to increase their levels. These cards and charecters will help you a lot with gameplay!
2. Next try to find songs that are comfortable for you as a beginner, there's some YouTube videos where you can see songs that are easy for training.
3. Note speed is also very important. Try to play songs in 10-11 Note speed to make notes go a lot better. 10.4? Or 11.2?. It's up to you which is more comfortable for you. I used to play at 10.8 but changed to 11.1 cause of my new phone and makes things go easy for me personally.
4.First I suggest to play songs on Hard mode. That's how I did back then before I decided to play songs on expert. After that, when you're ready, play easy songs in expert. Then play more and more (it obviously takes time but you'll eventually do it). When you finally do songs good in expert, start playing another easy songs on MASTER. Eventually you can do it!
5. Very important note: Remember that these practices obviously make people feel underwhelming and tired. So please remember to TAKE A BREAK when it's needed. And after some nice of a break, you can come back to pjsekai and play songs again.
Here a short guide I could bring to beginners.
Alright goodnight

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays were usually the slowest days at your job. You worked at the local music retail shop, spending most of your shifts just cashing people out, organizing instruments and equipment, or re-alphabetizing the store’s music catalog. It didn’t pay that well, but it was enough to keep you busy and get you through college.
On most days it was fine; the only real downside being dealing with older people who didn’t understand some logistics of the instruments or the younger know-it-alls that tried to mansplain the equipment you sold daily. Another downside was having to listen to people tune the instruments to their liking and/or play them awkwardly in the middle of the store.
You understood why they did it; they just want to get a feel for the instruments they want to buy. But most people either were beginners who played awfully or intermediate players who didn’t play nearly as good as they thought they did. After almost a year of working at your location, you had gotten used to the sound of the store’s center speakers being hooked up to various instruments while people tested out the sound quality or other logistics of their instruments. Today was no different.
You were in the middle of organizing some invoices at the register on a late, gloomy Tuesday afternoon in the middle of September. The faint buzz of the center speakers humming to life on the other side of the store caught your attention, but you went back to focusing on your task at hand. There was only a handful of people in the store at the moment, so it was pretty quiet aside from the very soft jazz music emitting from the speakers in the corners of the store.
After a moment of peace, the center speakers crackled. You prepared to be annoyed for the next five to ten minutes by some young kid about to play some Nirvana riff very amateurishly. However, you were surprised when the opposite happened. A single, short, sweet strum on an electric guitar rang through the shop. It wasn’t obnoxiously loud, just enough so that you could hear it from across the room. You didn’t recognize the melody that soon followed, but it was pleasant to your ears.
It was a very relaxed, R&B sound. The sound was so calming. It fit perfectly with the gray clouds and drizzling rain outside the shop. Like a soundtrack to a movie scene. You decided you had to see who this talented musician was.
You picked up a vinyl that needed to be put back in that area, and decided to use that as your excuse to go be nosey. Throughout your walk there you noticed that the elderly couple you had seen earlier was now gone, leaving very few patrons left. There was one guy who seemed to be in his mid-40’s browsing through the CD collections. And there was a high school-aged girl looking through the magazines by the door. Other than that, it was just you and your mystery guitar player.
The soulful music continued to play, growing louder as you got closer to the source. You turned the corner of the shelf just behind the speakers that the music was coming from. Your eyes travelled up to see a boy about your age. You were getting a somewhat side profile of him, but he was admittedly very handsome.
He had black hair that looked soft and untouched by the rain from outside. Rimless glasses sat on the bridge of his nose. His jawline looked as though it was sculpted by an artist. He wore average-looking clothes—khaki pants, dark blue graphic t-shirt, unbuttoned denim shirt, and converse. One of his ears were covered by the chunky headphones he brought with him, presumably listening to the song he was trying to play. You found it odd that he wasn’t using sheet music, like most people did. Perhaps he played better by ear?
The sound of the bell above the door ringing made you jump, but it was only the high school girl leaving. You clutched the vinyl in your hand, remembering that that’s what you were supposed to be doing: finding it’s home. You turned to the shelf beside you, thumbing through the albums until you found the spot you needed. The albums thumped to one side as you slid the vinyl into place before they were pushed gently back together in harmony.
It seemed the song was coming to an end, so you stood in place as the boy wrapped up the tune he was playing so elegantly. When he finished, he started inspecting the tuning pegs on the guitar in his lap. Your feet were moving before your brain could stop them. The inside of your throat felt like it was closing, but you still somehow managed to speak.
Softly, you praised him, “That was amazing.”
Dread filled your body when he didn’t so much as even look at you. Nothing signaled that he heard you, so you cleared your throat and tried again. Only this time, you took another step closer to him.
“That was amazing,” you repeated a bit louder than before.
This time he heard you, his head whipping around as if you startled him. You quickly apologized, but he shook his head.
“No, you’re fine. I’m sorry, what did you say?”
“I just said that was amazing, what you played. You’re really talented.”
“Oh,” maybe it was your imagination, but it looked like the lobe of his ear was turning red. His foot fidgeted on the bar at the bottom of the stool he sat on. The fluorescent lighting in the shop casted a white glare on the edge of his glasses when he looked at you, but you could still see his brown eyes clear as day, “Thanks.”
“Was it yours?”
“Was what mine?”
“The song,” you busied yourself by picking up the sheet music left behind by previous patrons of the day and putting them back in the folder where your boss kept them. He reached up and moved the headphones down from his ears to rest around his neck.
“No,” he shook his head, “It’s a Frank Ocean song. Have you heard of him?”
“I can’t say I have,” you confessed, “But it was a beautiful song. I’ll have to look it up later so I can get the full experience of it.”
“You should. The, uh, album that it’s from is great. It’s called Blonde,” he continued to twist and tune the pegs at the end of the guitar’s neck. His fingers were proficient and gentle; you assumed that was from years of skill crafting.
“How long have you played guitar for?”
“About 5 years?” his face expressed that he was trying to recall the moment he started.
“Wow, I figured you might be a prodigy or something. You sound like a seasoned player.”
Now his ears were definitely red; there was no way it was a trick of your mind. The same rosy color also looked like it was spreading across the apples of his cheeks. His lips twitched from holding back the bashful smile that wanted to appear. He adjusted himself on his seat, getting a better grip on the instrument in his lap, “Thank you, but I’m no prodigy. Do you play anything?”
“I took a few piano lessons when I was little,” you shrugged, fingertips mindlessly and quietly tapping on top of the speaker in front of you. An almost silent hum still thrummed from it, “But I don’t play much anymore.”
“Well, if you’d like some lessons in the near future, I know a guy who’d be willing to teach you for free,” he spoke as he stood from the stool and carefully placed the Paul Reed Smith guitar back on its stand a few feet away.
“For free? Is he doing volunteer work or something?” you teased, eyes accidentally meeting his as he returned to pick up his keys from the stand he left them on. The same stand that held the speaker you were previously tapping on. You wanted to look away, but his eyes almost held you in their gaze.
“No, but he doesn’t mind teaching pretty girls like you.”
Your breath hitched for a second, and heat rushed into your cheeks. Was he seriously hitting on you? More importantly, was it working? You had to avert your eyes.
“Oh,” you mentally kicked yourself when the shy smile took over your lips, “Does he live around here? I might consider, if he’s not too far.”
“He lives in college town actually. Are you familiar with it?” his keys made a jingling noise as he swiftly slipped them into the back pockets of his pants. You watched with a twinkle in your eye as he used the same hand to carelessly card his fingers through his hair.
“Yeah, it’s not too far from me actually. Does this guy know Frank Ocean’s music too? I think I’d like to hear some of that on the piano,” you said, walking alongside him as he started to walk towards the front of the store. The rain was still coming down, barely. The droplets were sparse, but the gray clouds remained, just as dark and gloomy as ten minutes ago, “I like the R&B sound of it.”
“I’m sure he’d love to play some R&B music for you on his piano,” he smirked a little, secretly loving this back-and-forth with you. He didn’t want it to end, but he did have plans with his friends soon, “I think he knows one or two Frank Ocean songs.”
“That’s good. Well, this guy sounds decent. Do you have his number? I’ll have to send him a text to set up a piano lesson with him.”
He nodded, so you took the few steps over to the front desk, pulling a notepad and pen out from next to the register. You tore the top sheet off that had scribbles of invoice numbers and customer information. Then you handed the pad and pen to him, folding the torn paper in your hands as you watched him jot down the phone number for you. He handed it back, and you carefully tore that paper out too before slipping it into your pocket where your phone rested.
“Thanks,” you walked him to the door, only now realizing that you were the only two people left in the shop. Were you really that wrapped up in this boy to notice the older guy leaving? Did he really captivate you that much? You supposed he did.
He pushed the door open, stepping out onto the sidewalk, “I guess I’ll see you around then.”
Some little voice in the back of your mind let out a sigh, expressing its disappointment of his departure. Another voice in there exclaimed a reminder to you.
“Wait!” you called out, causing the dark-haired boy to turn back towards you. He was already yards away, but you could still tell the weather was starting to make his glasses fog up, “You never told me this guy’s name.”
He smiled again, “It’s Jay. Sorry.”
You nodded in understanding, and he stopped you before you could go back inside.
“What’s your name? I should probably let him know so he can expect your text,” he reasoned, his hands burying themselves in the pockets of his denim shirt. The heel of his converse scuffed the wet concrete as he shifted his foot nervously.
“_________.”
Now he was the one nodding, “Got it. I’ll tell him to look out for a text from ________, the pretty music shop girl.”
“Thanks a lot,” you waved him off, the smile on your lips refusing to leave even after the door closed behind you. Even after a glance out the door confirmed he was so far down the sidewalk that he was now out of sight. You hummed that melodic tune he played to yourself as you started to think of what tasks still needed to be done. You had the whole shop all to yourself, and there was still a couple hours left until closing.
You decided to hijack the store’s AUX, hooking up your phone. You went to your music player, typing in ‘Blonde’ and picking the first option that came up. You let the album play from the top, immediately nodding your head along to the beat that began to play. He has good music taste, you thought to yourself.
For the remainder of your shift, you enjoyed the music playing. The store had no more customers after he left, which made for a quick and easy closing. The rain was done by the time you were locking up, which you were thankful for. Once you got to your car, you pulled your phone from your pocket along with the written digits pressed against it.
You debated acting on your thoughts so soon, but decided to do so anyway. Your fingertips tapped against your keyboard swiftly, typing the phone number into the messaging app. The cursor blinked as you thought of what to say. It took a minute or two, but you finally sent a message you deemed good enough.
you: hi, is this jay? a friend of mine said you could give me free piano lessons, is that true?

And it's finished! Here, Jane's theme 'Believe' for piano! The audio is computer-generated (and hence the bad sound) as I haven't mastered playing this myself yet (i'm still a beginner player so..) But anyway, I wanted to share this, because I like how it came out. Of course, it's a much shorter and modified version of the original piece, since it's only for piano and lacks the orchestral elements (drums, vocals, etc.) that would make repeating the same theme again and again more interesting. The ending sounds off-tune on purpose (a higher octave would probably sound better) to match the feeling of the abrupt ending of the original. Again, music sheets are under the cut.

"Harmonious Encounter"

➻ SYNOPSIS : You and Semi discovered the unexpected harmony that could be created when two different worlds intersected in that quiet moment, amidst the lingering echoes of the guitar's newfound tune.

On a warm morning, the sunlight filters through the curtains into the classroom as the president distributes the notebooks back into their respective owners. Among the exchanges of notebook, your notebook and Semi's notebook were accidentally swapped. The notes of an academic subject now rested in the hands of a musician, and a musician's world found its way into the possession of a volleyball player.
Semi was the first to notice the mismatched notebooks. Rather than waiting until the end of the day, he decided to use their volleyball break to return the notebook to you. He excused himself from the court and made his way to the music clubroom, nodding to his teammates.
As he walked in, he noticed you sitting on a stool, cradling a guitar in your lap. A dissonance of out-a-tune sounds emitted from the strings, indicating that your a beginner, and attempts to master the instrument. Your fingers fumbled over the frets, leaving smears of red where the strings had bitten into your skin.
Semi announced his presence by gently knocking on the doorframe. You abruptly jumping into your seat, with ears flushed with surprise and embarrassment at being caught in such a vulnerable position.
"Um, hi," you stammered, hastily setting the guitar aside and wiping your fingers onto your skirt.
Semi gave you a reassuring smile as he reached out the notebook. "I think our notebooks got swapped during class."
Your eyes peered down on the object in front of you, your eyes widening in realization. You accepted your notebook with a grateful smile, your fingers brushing against his in the exchange.
"Thank you so much," you said softly as you went to your bag to give his notebook back.
Semi's gaze wandered to the guitar lying on the guitar stand. "Do you play?"
You peered over your shoulder at the question, your expression shifted from gratitude to a sheepish admission. "Well, I'm trying to learn. But I'm not very good at it yet."
Semi picked up the guitar, his fingers deftly tuning the strings. "Mind if I give you a few tips?"
You blinked in surprise. "You know how to play the guitar?"
He chuckled. "A bit. My sister taught me."
Semi sat down on one of the available seats beside yours and helped you position your fingers on the frets correctly. He showed how to pluck the strings, his fingers moving with grace and fluidity. You looked at his hands with a mixture of fascination and embarrassment, your fingers attempting to mimic the movements.
The notes from the guitar transformed from a discordant jumble to a tentative melody under his direction. Your fingers grew more secure, and the strings no longer left marks on your fingertips. Your fingers felt at ease than before and grew comfortable on the instrument.
"You're a natural at this," Semi remarked with a smile.
Your ears flushed with a mix of pleasure and surprise. "Thanks to your help."
An unspoken connection formed between the two of you as your fingers brushed against each other while adjusting the strings. Their brief meeting turned into an unexpected bond, fostered by your mutual love of music.
You admitted before Semi leaves, "I actually play the piano."
Semi smiled. "Maybe one day, we can jam together. Guitar and piano."
The thought made your heart skip a beat. "I'd like that."
A smile crept onto your lips as memories of melodies enveloped you, weaving their emotive melody through the fabric of your soul, accompanied by a comforting twinge of feeling in your stomach.

toya's the classical musician? wrong. all of them.
an's dad is still a legendary performer, but RAD WEEKEND wasn't a street performance- it was an orchestral arrangement. it had inspired an, a viola player, and akito, a recent cello player, to create their own legendary concert.
kohane hadn't had much experience with music before, other than the few times she'd learned to play violin for class. don't have a reason but an finds her and convinces her to start playing again.
toya's story hasn't changed, but with one notable exception- he never ran away.
vbs eventually gets together to try and put on a revolutionary concert. they'd grown tired of the same old classical songs performed over and over. they want to do something new. they want to breath life and electricity into every note. so- they turned to street style for inspiration.
toya has a hard time separating himself from his upbringing, never mind his father's disapproval ("this isn't how the piano is supposed to be played. this is a disgrace to music"). the events of this event, then, are toya learning to let go of what his father thinks and play the music that he truly wants to play.
uhhh other things... kohane starts off as a beginner but gets some absolutely LEGENDARY fiddle skills down the line. she also learns clarinet for fun. an plays viola because that's what nagi had played. akito and an have both broken bows swordfighting. there is constantly resin in someone's backpack.

hcs about music and the island dads and their kids bc i am currently experiencing brainrot
x. linus used to play guitar as a kid. he wasn’t great at it, but he liked it, and he’d steal away half an hour a week to play around with the old, beaten up one they had in their public high school. he learnt all his favorite songs on it, mostly by ear, but never had the ability to practice at home. he mentions it to arthur at some point, and they magically find one back in the attic.
x. arthur loves piano. he has the fingers for it, of course, and there’s nothing like a good jazz piano tune to pair with a philosophy book, but he also loves the expressiveness that some pianists put into their performances. when he was a young man, 20s-30s i’d say, and he didn’t live on the island yet, i like to hc he snuck into a few performances or practices for some great modern composers.
x. lucy sees linus trying to tune the guitar and decides instantly he Must Learn How To Play alongside him. they buy a beginner’s guitar player book and start learning chords and songs together. lucy, turns out, has a great singing voice to pair with it.
x. at some point, sal brings up the idea that maybe he could have lucy put one of his poems to music. lucy is absolutely honored, obviously. linus and arthur are in the background crying because omg their children have grown and healed so much
x. phee definitely learns how to make nature dance around her. she takes up doing it when she’s upset, and never really stops. zoe joins in sometimes, and the swaying of the branches, buzzing of bees, and soft sea breeze bring happiness all around the island.
x. talia would be amazing on drums. that’s all. she could wack them as good as she wacks people.
x. chauncey and theodore, albeit not incredibly gifted with musical instruments due to the lack of opposable thumbs, are the BEST hypemen whenever lucy wants to present a song during a lesson. cheerleading? they got u. posters, banners, and badly made t shirts? DONE. lucy isnt even making his own music, but its the thought that counts.
(yes the t shirts would just say hey yeah! music! in squiggly handwriting, instead of hell yeah, because arthur vetoed it)
x. linus and arthur actually learn how to dance instead of just swaying together; waltzing late at night in arthur’s study or the library, soft, stumbly back and forth dances in the kitchen while cooking breakfast, linus dipping arthur on the porch as the sun sets because he just felt like it and kissing the shit out of him. and, of course, the bad renditions of those dances by the children making fun of them.
x. no one expects it, but sal’s teenagehood turns out to be a big rock music phase. he never showcases it on the outside but his room slowly gets decorated with posters and cds of his favorite artists and bands. lucy and linus are over the moon about getting to add a third to their music shop escapades. sal mostly likes the music because he relates to the anger/hurt/ect of the lyrics, and it’s great to drown out any other noise in case it gets too much for him.

t, i loved your comparisons of gojo/shoko/geto as a piano trio. if i could maybe offer an alternative viewpoint, one that isn't neatly tied up but i think fits their (at least high school) personalities better
1. geto's absolutely cello coded, you nailed it on the head. no thoughts there
2. gojo is also violin coded, i would maybe argue that he can be piano coded but i'm a pianist so i see a lot of pianistic qualities about him. pianists are often singled out, since we're not quite part of an orchestra, but we operate independently and are responsible for so many instruments to show off. also, the amount of solo piano rep is pretty much infinite, no one can possibly comprehend how much music there exists for pianists. the solo and isolating nature of the piano also lends itself quite well to gojo's personality, being that he's the "honored one" - gojo would be an infuriatingly good solo pianist, completely untouchable and godlike
3. imma be honest - shoko's more of a viola to me than piano. violas are often overlooked, but their range in between violin and cellos is so so important. also they read alto clef comfortably, which confuses violinists (read: gojo being confused by reversed cursed technique initially). there's also not many violists compared to violin and cello (supply is low, demand is high though). when a viola has a melody, the darkness it carries in its timbre i think matches shoko really well
for the sake of a piano trio, i'm with you there. i just personally see that trio as all string players 👍🏼
omg ofcofc I LOVED THIS THANK U 4 GIVING ME UR VIEW POINT !!!!! i love ur point abt pianos being singled out, really fits that ‘strongest’ thing he has going on where he’s so untouchable both literally and figuratively! and gojo’s technique is so... all-rounded for some reason and that comparison of the endless pieces of piano repertoire relates to that
and NOOO omg tbh i have NO idea about anything relating to a viola, hell i’ve never even played in an orchestra before or done shows bc im more of a beginner but YES! i was trying to find something for shoko and i tried to fit it into the piano but it didn’t really fit that well, but i could see some qualities of her that could be compared to a piano. the overlooked part yes yes! it mirrors that part of the manga where she mentioned “i was there too, you dumbass”, referring to gojo’s and geto’s whole shebang and how geto was her friend too, no matter how much jjk’s whole story sort of revolves around stsg’s conflict. also alto clef is insane!!! i have no idea how to convert it lolol and that detail of gojo being confused by her technique is so yum! can’t believe i didn’t see that before. i would also note that shoko’s RCT is not that rare but also not that common, coming back to your point on supply vs demand! and yess, shoko’s morbid personality really fits the viola as well - but i’m not that well versed in violas or viola repertoire to comment much <3 BUT THANK U 4 UR INPUT
when i first saw you comment about that music being fuckable LMAO i was like “so real” and then this came to me randomly while also keeping you in mind. this epiphany helped me to finish my assignment — i’ve never typed so fast loool!

Heyy! I'm curious about your musical career, so here are a couple of questions if you don't mind:
Do you play any instruments other than drums?? And do you play in a band or you sing too and are a solo??
that's kind of you, thanks! and sorry for the slow reply! this got buried in my drafts.
i'm an orchestral percussionist. fave instrument is timpani, hence the avatar. i play all percussion instruments you'd find in orchestra or wind ensemble, big and small, and i also play drum set of course and have taken tabla lessons but don't consider myself a tabla player.
i'm a music teacher, and coming with that territory is the ability to play "every" instrument just a little bit. by every i mean, standard instruments you'd find in an elementary school classroom or in a high school band. so i also play piano, acoustic guitar, flute, clarinet, trumpet, baritone, trombone, violin, and cello. i do NOT consider my strings skills to be worth anything at all, i can just play the instruments well enough to teach a kid how from scratch. i'm better at brass than woodwinds.
basically i'm better than a 10 year old and better than most middle schoolers at all the things except strings, strings i consider myself a beginner. but there's a lot to be said for having the ability to understand all the instruments, how they work... that knowledge helps a lot so often times beginner-level doesn't appear to be beginner... oh yeah i guess i can play recorder and ukulele too. i can repair all these instruments and more if i needed to. ah and i'm a decent piano and guitar player i guess. can perform on those, but i'm very definitely a percussionist.
as to singing, i didn't really start singing until i started teaching. i get lots of compliments so i guess i'm good at it. i could definitely benefit from some professional training and not the one beginning voice class i had in college, lol.
i don't perform vocally... i sing for work, that's about it. and whatever you see me messing around with here on tumblr, which is just recording into my phone lol. i tend to only perform with orchestras and wind ensembles playing percussion, but for work again i've had to play all of the things in front of people. i've been on concert tour in england with a professional wind ensemble, that was fun.
this was very rambly aahhh i hope i answered your question! thank you very much for the interest!

oh my GODS these are so many questions you're too kind. I'm going to answer them all because Helene is my babygirl
putting this on a read more bc it got long hehe
✈️ AIRPLANE — does your oc like traveling, or do they consider themselves a more homey person?
Helene hasn't traveled much in her life. She grew up in partially in a tiny fishing village on the Sword Coast, and then in the orphanage at the Citadel of Strategic Militancy not too far from Baldur's Gate. She'd visit the city every so often. The furthest she traveled was for the mission her church sent her on to kill some werewolves... where she ended up being sucked into Barovia lmao. Helene does not have much worldly experience. I'd say, while Helene does like flying through the skies, she doesn't like going far from home, wherever that may be. She likes to remain close to those she loves.
💍 RING — does your oc have any piercings? do they want any (more) piercings?
Just standard earlobe piercings! Much to my chagrin, Helene isn't one for body mods like tattoos or piercings.
🎻 VIOLIN — does your oc play any instruments? what is their skill level (beginner/intermediate/advanced/virtuoso/etc)?
Yes! Harpsichord (virtuoso), piano (virtuoso), cello (advanced). Helene's mother saved up for a harpsichord for Helene to start practicing at a very young age, because she had aspirations for her daughter to be in the upper echelons of society one day. Helene learned the cello during her time in the church, and I also associate the cello as her instrument theme.
🩹 ADHESIVE BANDAGE — does your oc have any physical and/or mental disabilities?
So I love translating some of my own and other real-life disabilities to my OCs, because I feel like they need to be represented and explored more in fictional narratives. Helene's unique physiology (which is a whole can of worms in and of itself that I could talk about) translates, basically, into her having Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, as well as Fibromyalgia. As far mental disorders, Helene has ADHD, Autism, Depression, PTSD, BPD, and **(OTHER PLAYERS IN MY CAMPAIGN DONT READ THIS)** Schizophrenia. The last one has actually been one I've been doing a lot of research on and talking to people about since I don't personally have it, but it's actually something that's recently triggered for her from the stresses and horrors of Barovia, having already run in her family. She's having a hard time figuring out if it's just Barovia being Barovia or her own head, which adds an extra layer to it all.
🎶 MUSICAL NOTES — what type of music does your oc like? do they listen to music very often?
She adores music! She's a goth, melancholic, macabre kinda girl, so she loves anything Strahd plays on his organ :p She's also fond of the battle hymns her Church taught her. She loves singing.
🚫 PROHIBITED — does your oc drink/smoke? do they do it regularly, or is it more on occasion or for special events?
You will very often see Helene with a glass of wine in her hand. She has a tendency to indulge to make herself feel better or forget the horrors. Usually in wine and true vampire blood (which has narcotic-life effects).
🌈 RAINBOW — what is your oc's sexual orientation/gender identity? what pronouns do they use?
cis female (she/her), demisexual!
🐶 DOG FACE — does your oc have any pets?
Milivoj, Viktor, Deyja... Not in the traditional, well-adjusted sense. She has an animated Strahd puppet she keeps as a pet. She also has her familiar, a celestial that usually takes the form of a Barovian Duskrat. Then she has her pegasus, Bluebell, but she doesn't know if she considers her a pet... Helene's always wanted a dog, though. She loves dogs.
🤍 WHITE HEART — what are three of your oc's neutral/questionable traits?
Hmm... questionable or neutral? I'm not sure how to answer this. Let's say...
Control freak. Feeling out of control is a no-go for Helene. She has to know things, she has to be directing things the way she wants them to go.
Politeness and social etiquette are very important to her, which is funny considering her dislike of politics. She was raised with a very heavy hand of etiquette. She is somehow both blunt and polite. To an extent.
Abhors politics. She's not great at talking to people or influencing people, and she's a terrible liar. She prefers when people are upfront and honest with her so she doesn't have to play guessing games with them.
💘 HEART WITH ARROW — what and/or who do(es) your oc consider the most important to them?
Strahd Strahd Strahd Strahd Strahd Strahd. Love in general is the most important thing to Helene. Getting love, giving love. She has a number of paramours, all so special to her in their own ways. She's possessive and deeply loving with all of them. But Strahd/Vasili feel like her soulmates.
💚 GREEN HEART — does your oc prefer being inside or outside?
Inside. Calmer inside. Cozier. Darker. Less overwhelming. The only exception is when she's flying in the skies, then that's where she feels most at home.
🖤 BLACK HEART — has your oc killed or seriously wounded anyone before? have they broken someone's heart and/or broken someone's trust?
well... that's where you're getting into the reason Helene turned into a fallen aasimar. to make a long story SUPER short - Helene's village was burned and eradicated by raiders when she was 11. After spending two years at an orphanage, Helene decided she wanted to take revenge, a strong desire for 'justice' in her mind. She snuck out from the orphanage, found the group of raiders and where they called 'home', and killed all of them one by one. Problem was, she wanted eye for an eye. When they killed her village, they left no one standing. So Helene slaughtered their non-combatant women and children too. Real Anakin moment, babe. Anyway she was so distraught and hated herself so much for it, she self-actualized her divinity away! Woo!
🍸 COCKTAIL GLASS — what is your oc's favorite alcoholic drink, if they can drink?
Red wine. She's taken a liking to Red Dragon Crush, but some of the best wine she's ever had was a very sweet and fruity red Strahd had procured specially for her.
😖 CONFOUNDED FACE — is your oc an introvert, an extrovert, or an ambivert? do they let people in easily, or are they more reserved?
Introvert. Helene loves getting praise and attention, but she doesn't let people in easily at all. Trust is hard. Trust is giving up control.
Also she thinks most people are stupid. She's a snob like that.
🧐 FACE WITH MONOCLE — is your oc more logical or emotional?
That's a fun one for her! She fluctuates between extremes, which includes very logical or very emotional. She's sort of ruled by her emotions, but the tries to act and think with logic.
😓 DOWNCAST FACE WITH SWEAT — is your oc open-minded or stubborn? are they inquisitive or do they prefer to keep to their bubble of knowledge?
She's actually pretty open-minded for most things. She does get stubborn about some of her own personal issues and flaws, but she's actually extremely curious. She wants to learn EVERYTHING. She soaks up things like a sponge. She likes talking to monsters and evil people cordially to get a view into their minds and motivations (as well as strengths and weaknesses)

I love your batman rogues gallery designs!! Fun question if you feel like answering… what is everyone’s favorite unexpected or non-criminal hobby? :)
~ @riddlebird-brainrot
Thank you! I'm glad that so many people seem to like my interpretations of these guys.
Jervis - No one knows but he actually enjoys getting his hands dirty in the garden although if Pamela were to find out she would surely have his head.
Jonathan - Since Scarecrow and Jonathan are not the same person (Jonathan has DID) they will have separate answers. Jonathan does not consider himself a man interested in anything but his work but unexpectantly has taken a liking to knitting after the numerous times he's had to patch up his costume.
Scarecrow - Like Jonathan, it does not have many hobbies outside of terrorizing people. It is a very simple creature.
Edward - Not often, but Edward enjoys singing when left to his own devices. Unlike Jonathan, Edward doesn't mind being heard while singing and finds his own voice rather charming. Not that he considers himself a master by any means, but a gifted beginner is more like it. He's also a competitive Tetris player but that's probably not unexpected.
Selina - She's pretty predictable. I'm sure everyone expects that she prefers to spend her free time alone with her cats. She will never admit it but she does enjoy the times when she's hanging out with Harley and Ivy. Bruce she's very keen on conversing with. Edward she doesn't mind having a bit of fun with him. Take that how you will.
Harley - I don't think I've mentioned it before anywhere but Harley belongs to a clown band as a guitarist. She plays the electric guitar to be more specific. So when her and Ivy or Joker aren't up to their usual antics she's probably with the band.
Pamela - Pamela doesn't have a life outside of her plants, something her and Jonathan can agree on for once. They are both endlessly devoted to their work. Although there is a certain distraction dressed in black and red that draws her attention away from her plants for a little bit.
Joker - Even an agent of chaos has to rest sometimes. What would Gotham do if their favorite Clown Prince of Crime got burnt out and ran out of ideas? Since my versions of Harley and Joker don't have them in an abusive relationship (they are best friends) they like to hang out together, they're roommates after all. They may commit smaller crimes in their spare time like putting graffiti on a brick wall. Occasionally he'll send love letters to Batsy if he really wants a laugh.
Harvey/Twoface - These two can hardly agree on anything without the help of their trusty little coin. But when they can agree on something they can do wonders. Such as dancing! Their go-to dance style is the two-step. A bit difficult for them considering they would need an extra person to make it less awkward but they have fun nonetheless.
Oswald - Few people have heard him (those people include his mother, Harvey, and Edward) but he's quite a talented self-taught violin player.
Abner (Polka-Dot Man) - This man loves to collect those chewy bouncy balls you'd get in kindergarten. He has a whole box full of them.
Victor F - I can't imagine this man would have many if any hobbies in his current state. He used to play the piano for Nora but that is something of the past now. Perhaps one day he'll be able to play for her again.
Otis (Ratcatcher) - She loves putting together collages from magazines that she finds in the trash or on the streets!
Bane - I haven't finalized my design for him yet but Bane is 100% a stuffed animal collector. Usually of the teddy bear variety.
Waylon - He's a mighty good banjo player. Took him a while to find one where his claws wouldn't tear apart the string. He has Edward to thank for finding it for him.
Kirk - Honestly, Manbat is pretty content to simply hang out with Ratcatcher and Waylon in the sewers or any other place that isn't crawling with people. Gotham citizens can often see a giant bat figure flying in the skies and they don't know if it's Batman or Manbat. Most often it's Batman but sometimes Manbat will come out of hiding to stretch his wings.
Thanks for the questions!
