to be completely frank i think most of the people i've seen with major complaints regarding RGG 8's story are forgetting that 99% of what they're saying can be applied across the whole series

#this is not aimed at anyone in particular i've seen these sentiments all over #but things like 'well the story was mid' ok well come back to me after you've replayed yakuza kiwami. no optional majima everywhere allowed #and things like the ending falling flat - sure. but so did 7's #the pacing in the end chapter + chekhov's failboy were like. huh??? #i'm never gonna call RGGS perfect but they're NOT regressing at all. #if anything gaiden and 8 have got me extremely hopeful for whatever comes next #like it's their 20th anniversary this year they've left so many loose ends in 8 they can carry on from they've got forever to keep going #MY only complaint is that they couldn't have retrofitted more of gaiden into IW but i can't exactly fault them for that #idk for all of the dooming i'm seeing i want to say something more positive about the game as a whole #even if this post is still pretty doom & gloom #people just let their expectations get way too high for this one game and i'm not even sure how that happened in most cases #it met all of mine - hell it EXCEEDED them. but i recognise i may be privileged on that front lol <- kashiwagi likers are eating so well rn #text #8 #again i don't mean to attack anyone in particular it's just a general frustration i've been having #and i only hope that if there comes a time when people play over again that they're able to dig further into the meat of the story #and recognise that this game isn't uniquely 'shit' or 'mid'

What do you love ab Oxenfree so much? Just wondering.

I mean, the visuals and the music are superb and work to make a beautiful and spooky atmosphere. I love the mystery of it all, and the supernatural is left a little ambiguous. Questions unanswered give room for lots of theorizing. It's scary but not too scary.

All the characters to me are believable. They're just teens trying their best, and being themselves. It's dialogue is funny in a timeless way.

Gameplay-wise, I love a walk and talk. I love to tune the radio where ever I go. I personally don't need a lot of action in my games and mostly care about story so it really is in my niche.

I love themes of working through grief, of continuing in the face of some sort of inevitability. Showing some kindness, regardless if it make a difference or not. It just sticks with me!

(Also, I can't really separate how Oxenfree fandom and the ARG connected me with like a dozen friends who are still close with me today, tho most of them are not local :') )

ik it's useless to complain about s4 since the writers abandoned swd but like. i've heard that s4's writing is ass (mainly due to the characterization) and simeon becoming a human is included in that for me. yeah i can't say much since i'm only in s2 but idc. of course simeon isn't happy in the celestial realm but if you wanna get him out of there just turn him into a demon!! or is that too much conflict for the devs to handle

everyone wants simeon to go through a corruption arc and get a cool demon form from it man!! nobody wants to see him be powerless and die of old age!!

and i can't even say "but it doesn't matter since swd is dead to the devs lmao <3" bc i found out there's a chat where simeon talks about angels turning to humans in nightbringer and unless they fail to fire their chekov's gun (which i honestly kind of expect they do) please tell me who wanted this so i can flick them
