basketball was never your favorite thing, but onyankopon was by far one of your favorite people. so, if sitting and watching a sport you didn’t understand was what it took to make your friend smile, you’d be more than willing to do it. you’d never been to a real nba game before. sure, you’ve watched ony play a million times throughout the high school basketball seasons, but this time, it felt more real. more serious. you racked your brain a million times over about what you were gonna wear, it wasn’t like you were in the regular crowd, just there to enjoy the show.
“i was tryna give rihanna courtside baddie, you know what i mean?” you said, walking next to tylae and violet as you three went into the vip entrance of the arena. “you look like a basketball wife.” violet said, sharing a look with tylae before they both looked at you. “don’t start that shit.” you said, trying to be as stern as possible but you were still laughing at their comments. “you kinda are a basketball wife, whether you wanna accept it or not.”
“all three of us were invited, this is a group event.” you said, making a motion to the three of you. “well, for one, you’re invited because ony has been trying to pull you since we were fifteen and violet wants to fuck his basketball manager. i’m here as collateral and to drive you all home.” tylae said with an eye roll as the three of you made your way to your seats. they were exactly what you saw on social media, big bright lights beading down onto the court, your seats damn near participating in the game themselves.
you were sitting next to violet, feeling your heartbeat quicken as people started to fill into the arena and before you knew it the game started. your conversation with tylae was cut short as onyankopon caught your eye. it was extremely hard to both deny violet & tylae’s claims that you and ony were into each other and also be into him at the same time. onyankopon was always attractive, but he was much more attractive right now.
he was so focused, he barely even noticed you were there. his mind and body were both completely immersed in the game, and you were enjoying every second of it. violet was watching the game before she turned to look at you, watching your eyes follow onyankopon intently. “for someone who doesn’t understand basketball, you’re very interested.” she said, a smirk on her face as she nudged your arm. “shut up.” you retorted, not taking your eyes off of ony as you smiled.
ϟ
“go, i gotta talk to someone before we leave.” onyankopon said to his teammates as he made his way to the court, where you and the girls were on your way out of the arena. “i know you not leaving me yet.” onyankopon said as he walked up behind you, nearly scaring you out of your shoes. “i thought you left.” opening your arms for a hug that ony accepted immediately. the hug lasted a little longer than your usual hugs, even rocking back and forth as you did it. ony made eye contact with both violet and tylae, who were making childish faces and giving him thumbs up.
“you did good out there, proud of you.” you complimented with a smile, his arm still slung around your shoulder. “thank you, ma. i was puttin’ it on a little extra since you were watching.” ony said, half (maybe one third) joking. “i appreciated the show, was very lucrative and educational.” you joked, looking back at the entrance he came out of and then back up at him, “aren’t you supposed to be with your team? you know i’m not gonna go anywhere, you have plenty of time to talk to me later.” you said, a small frown on your face.
“nah, you good. i told ‘em i had some other plans.” he replied, you giving him a confused expression in return. “plans?” you asked, a quick wave of jealousy coming over you before he went to speak again. “you’re the plans, before you get mad at me.” you were more surprised that he saw right through you than anything, he clocked your feelings before you had the time to think about them yourself.
“how do you make plans with me without telling me?” you asked, pretending to be irritated, knowing you were excited. “i was leaving with violet & ty,” both of their heads perked up from their phones, they shared a look before one of them spoke. “y’all are fine! don’t worry about us, y/n. enjoy your night.” violet said, sending you a smile, feigning her innocence. “thank you, violet. i’ll see y’all later, then.” rolling your eyes at the both of them, but the smile and thank you were genuine. “don’t have too much fun, now.” tylae said, giving ony a thumbs up that could only mean ‘good going, bro’.

“Hey, car will be here in ten,” Ashton’s head popped into the room, eyes going wide as he finally registered you. “Wow, look at you!”
You let out a little giggle at his reaction, but otherwise stayed in one place as your stylist did the finishing touches on your dress. Ashton slipped into the room, still not being able to take his eyes off of you, and you hoped he didn’t catch you biting your lip as you watched him too.
“Well, you clean up nicely too,” you made a cheeky comment, and he laughed, rubbing at the back of his neck. And he did – the fitted black pants, the matching vest and the slick tie paired with a white dress shirt with the sleeves pushed up to his elbows gave him a well-dressed, but still casual look, something you knew everyone would notice at the premier. Your eyes lingered on the blood moon tattoos inked into his skin, the rings on his fingers, the chain clipped into his belt loop, and you felt your heart skip a beat knowing that he was your date – even if just for tonight.
“Who did you bribe to let you wear this dress?” he cocked an eyebrow, looking you up and down to take it all in.
“Versace. They were begging me to wear it,” you joked, making Ashton smile as well. “Do we have time to take pictures?”
“Even if we didn’t I would still do it, because you, my beautiful, need to be documented in this dress,” he reached for the camera on the coffee table, quickly checking the settings before nodding at you. “Alright, do your worst, Y/L/N.”
You made sure to stick your tongue out at him as you struck a pose, the both of you giggling like kids as he started taking pictures of you, going from silly to smiley then serious, showing off your long red dress, the shoulders falling off and over your arms, the slit in the skirt giving a nice view at your legs and the white heels you were wearing. It felt like a bold choice, but you fell in love with the colour and the design, and you secretly liked how it made you look something like a princess, even if you would never tell that to Ashton; he would never let you live that down.
“Okay, now a selfie,” he reached for his phone, stepping next to you to fit both of you into the frame. “The first of the many mandatory ones from tonight.”
“You’re lucky you’re taking really good pictures,” you poked him playfully before letting him slide his arm around you, pulling you close. “At least I have good use of you, other than being my arm candy for the night.”
“You’re hurting my feelings,” Ashton pouted at you, but there was a twinkle in his eyes. “I’m your one-man cheer team, and you’re using me only for my good looks.”
“And to scare away creepy guys, don’t forget that,” you winked at him, a slight flirt lacing your voice. Ash scoffed at you with another little laugh, already trying to come up with another comment when your PA knocked on the door, letting you know that the car had arrived and it was waiting for you.
“Shall we, my lady?” he offered his arm to you, and you accepted it gratefully, all the while trying to will the butterflies in your stomach to calm down.
“It would be my pleasure, kind sir.”
.
The car ride to the premier was a good 20 minutes, during which time Ashton and your PA talked your ears off with the craziest of ideas on how to approach the elephant in the room in case people started to point it out. The metaphorical elephant, who was currently sitting right next to you, making up funny scenarios of his own being.
Because really: who was Ashton to you?
You often wondered and asked the question from yourself. The answer changed from time to time: a photographer. Someone from your management. An annoying little shit. A second PA. A friend who’s been there for you from day one. All those things were true, and yet, none of them sounded as real as the truth: because Ashton was your best friend, whom you had a crush on.
It wasn’t something you felt the first time you met him; no, it was something recent, something you realized one night when he was sitting next to you on the couch just after wrapping your latest movie, talking about his newest musical obsession. What started out as a work relationship turned into so much more: and while he was still part of your team you quickly became close friends – it was hard to remember a time when Ashton wasn’t part of your life. That’s why it wasn’t even a question for you to invite him as your plus one to the premier of the movie you previously worked on. He’s been there every step of the way, and you wanted to show him how much you appreciate his efforts and friendship after everything you’ve been through while filming Fade Into The Ocean.
“Hey, Y/N, are you with me?”
“Sure, yeah! Sorry,” you quickly shook your head, smiling back at Ashton. “Just lost in thoughts, that’s all.”
“Are you nervous about the premier?” he reached for your hand, squeezing it gently, and you wanted to melt into him, tell him all the things running through your mind, all the feelings you’ve been trying to put into words in the last few months. “You know you don’t have to be. People are really excited about the movie. They’re gonna love it!”
“I’m more scared about you stealing the spotlight from me,” you tried to sound flirty, and maybe you did succeed a little, because Ashton scoffed softly, squeezing your hand again.
“Sounds impossible.”
You knew you were close when you started seeing people everywhere on the streets, many looking after your car, trying to see who was arriving. Your PA started to do the necessary rounds once the car was parked, all the while you got out of the backseat with Ashton’s help. Before you knew it he was already checking your dress for wrinkles, making sure no hair was out of place and that your makeup was not smudged.
“You don’t have to do this, you know,” you caught his hand to stop him fussing over you. “You’re my date tonight, remember?”
“And as your date I want only the best for you,” Ashton ran his fingers over a lock of hair, still smiling at you. “And for people to look at the real star of this show, not silly little me.”
“Well, I like looking at you,” you reached for his tie, fixing it so it wasn’t crooked. “And I’m grateful you came along with me. You don’t know how much that means after…” your voice turned quiet.
Ashton didn’t say anything, he simply pulled you against his chest, hugging you as much as he could. For a moment it felt like there was only the two of you, that you could breathe easier; that if you were able to somehow keep Ashton in your life then nothing could go wrong.
The moment was interrupted by your PA, who let you know that everything was ready for your big entrance. Ashton took another second to let you go, but not before pressing a soft kiss on your forehead, whispering encouragements and a promise that he’ll be by your side all through the night. You nodded, accepting the arm he offered to you once again, then the both of you made your way towards the red carpet, joining the people waiting for the premier.
For a while you forgot about everything – it was just you and the people you worked with on the movie, the photographers and the reporters, and the many fans, all of them wanting to catch a glimpse at their favourites. Ashton stepped back to let you have your moment, falling behind as you were photographed, and you needed to fight the urge to turn back to him. You smiled as you posed with your co-star, yet you wished you could have Ashton right back next to you; there was something different in the way you felt when he was pressed against your side just a few minutes ago, leading you out onto the red carpet and appearing as your date for the night. He was flashing a flirty smile towards the people around you, and you could see them swooning at his charm.
Someone asked if your date could join for another round of pictures, and this finally gave you the chance to look his way, his eyes sparkling as he followed you with his gaze. You beckoned him closer, reaching for him with your hand until he laced your fingers together, then sliding his arm around your waist, pulling you back against his side. You shared smiles and a few laughs as you posed for pictures, and in that moment you knew that you wanted all of this to be real; it wasn’t a public relationship for everyone to see, no. More than anything, you wanted to feel the happiness and the calmness that Ashton made you feel whenever he was around.
“Everything’s okay?” he tilted his head to the side, murmuring his question against your ear, raising an eyebrow when you looked up at him.
You laughed and nodded, like he was telling you a joke or a sneaky comment, and he squeezed your waist in return, letting you know that he was there, he was listening, if you needed him, he could take care of you, no matter what it was.
The two of you made your way down the carpet, finally arriving to the last of the reporters before you could go further into the theatre. That’s when you spotted it, a photobooth tucked into one corner of the hall, the promotional pictures of your movie decorating the outside. It wasn’t a coincidence: you did shoot some of the key scenes of the film in photobooths as they moved the story forward. Suddenly you felt like a little kid, tugging on Ashton’s hand to get his attention. A smile immediately took over his face when he saw it too.
“We gotta get our picture taken!” he was already leading you towards the booth. “It’s tradition!”
“Another addition to the collection,” you giggled, more excited about the photos than the premier itself.
“This one will be extra special,” Ashton smiled as he pulled back the curtain, quickly settling down on the bench and patting his knee. “Come on, guess that’s the only way we can fit in!”
It was something that started years ago, a silly little thing you did one afternoon while walking around Vancouver during a break in filming your first major role. You’ve always wanted to try how these machines worked, having seen them in so many films before, but unfortunately you had none in the small town you grew up in. Having a photo strip from one of those booths was something your younger self would have been so excited about, and older you definitely wanted to let her live the dream. You thought Ashton might find you crazy for this, but the moment you told him about it he grabbed your hand and even paid for the first round – the two of you had so much fun that you ended up taking a lot of photos that day.
After that it sorta became a tradition: whenever the two of you found a booth you squeezed into the tiny space to get another photo strip to your collection. You always made sure to get two copies so you could both hold onto the memories you had together.
You settled into Ashton’s lap, arms hugging his neck while the curtain fell back, hiding the two of you in the tiny space of the booth. Ashton pressed the button when you were ready, and the numbers started to go into a countdown before taking the first picture.
3… 2… 1…
The both of you smiled at the camera, a laugh tugging at the corner of your mouths, and you remembered the very first time you knew that you found a lifelong friend in him. You were meant to go on an audition after a quick meeting with him – he wanted to talk about a few things before sending you on your way with a cup of coffee he bought especially for you, and which he somehow poured all over your shirt. After the initial shock he started to apologize, only to find you laughing about the situation, trying to brush away the tears and catch your breath looking at his face. Ashton did go out and bought you a new shirt so you could go to your audition, and the next day he showed up at your door, your stained shirt washed and folded in his hands. Deep down you knew that finally you had  someone in your corner – someone who would do anything to make sure you were alright.
CLICK!
Ashton threw his hand up in a rock sign, sticking his tongue out at the camera, and you quickly copied him, feeling silly and so happy in your fancy dress, acting wild and free. It reminded you of all the times he dragged you into some kind of adventure in the strange cities you were working in, all the shenanigans the two of you did on your free days or while you were travelling. Without Ashton you wouldn’t have tried out half of the restaurants that were now your favourites. Without him you would have missed out on art exhibits and carnival rides and concerts of local bands.
You wouldn’t have gotten your first tattoo if it weren’t for Ashton and a bet of who could possibly fit more marshmallows into their mouths. He won; and he did choose a really pretty design for you, something to remember your trip to Japan where all of this happened. The single cherry blossom flower was definitely your favourite.
CLICK!
His eyes were searching you, smile softening as he looked at you, and you felt yourself smiling back at him. There was something familiar in that moment: you felt safe and calm with him there, a feeling that’s been your companion ever since that night a year ago. Suddenly you were back in the small apartment the two of you shared while filming Fade Into The Ocean, your eyes red as tears were streaming down your face, curling up in his lap on the floor as you cried all through the night, the breakup with your boyfriend which happened via phone making you feel like your heart was broken into tiny little pieces.
But Ashton was there, making sure you drank water and let it all out, soothingly stroking your back to help you calm down. You were scared to go out the next day, thinking that the public will just know how you broke down the night before, like it was written all over your face – instead Ashton reminded you that it was just another day, every day it will be a little easier and you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself; you didn’t do anything wrong. He made sure you looked after yourself while working on your movie and dealing with your breakup, and every night you went to bed with a lighter heart, knowing that it wasn’t the end of the world. Not if you had Ashton to help you to come out on top.
CLICK!
Maybe you shouldn’t have done it, but you couldn’t help yourself. Ashton never looked more beautiful than in that moment. And it wasn’t just his looks, no; it was him, the way he was there for you all through these years, how he put you first more times than you could count, how he picked you up and put you back together when you felt at your lowest. He was adventure and silent afternoons in a park, he was coffee dates and silly selfies and reading lines together at midnight. He was the best part of your team, but also your partner in crime, your best friend and the man you fell in love with through the years.
You always wanted someone who felt like home in this crazy and strange life you had – and as you were sitting there in his lap, looking at each other before the last picture was taken, you realized that nobody ever came close to being the person that Ashton was for you. In that moment you knew that you don’t want anyone else in this world, just him, only him. Because Ashton always felt like home to you.
His breath hitched as your lips pressed against his, but it didn’t even take a heartbeat for him to kiss you back, his arms around your waist tightening to hold you close to him. Your fingers dug into his shoulders, like you were scared you would float away if you let go of him. You felt the tip of his tongue on your bottom lip–
CLICK!
The two of you pulled apart like teenagers who got caught, and you felt your cheeks heating up when you realized what just happened. Ashton looked surprised, lips parted as he looked at you almost unblinking, but you saw how his eyes darkened after your kiss. You were saved by a sound that meant that your photos were printed, and you quickly grabbed them, shoving them into your bag as you stood up, pulling back the curtain.
“I– think we should go. Movie is about to start.”
“Yeah… yeah, of course,” Ashton quickly shook his head, following you out of the booth and back into the sea of people, acting like you didn’t just share a moment that might change everything from now on.
.
ETNews tweeted: @YourName looks stunning at the premier of her new movie ‘Fade Into The Ocean’ joined by best friend as her date. Read more at the link.
You pushed your phone away, leaning back against the headboard of your bed. It was really late at night, or maybe really early in the morning, you couldn’t decide. The premier was long, and the afterparty even longer, full of impromptu speeches and a few more last minute interviews, everyone praising the movie. And yet, if you wanted to be honest with yourself, you couldn’t care less – because all you really cared about was the man who had already turned in for the night in the room next to yours.
All you could think about was Ashton and his arm around your waist on the red carpet, his words that kept you grounded, the press of his lips against yours as you kissed in the photobooth, hidden from prying eyes, and the way he held your hand all through the movie. He kept his promise and was by your side all through the night, but after what happened in the booth he turned a little quiet, and when his door closed after you arrived back to the hotel, you were sure you had screwed it all up. This was the moment when you needed him the most, to make sense of everything, to let you know if you crossed a line. But he only wished you goodnight before disappearing.
Now you were left alone with adrenaline rushing through your veins after the premier, and with your feelings which made it hard to sleep. Your beautiful red dress was laid out on the bed next to you, and you softly ran your fingers over the material. Something came over you, you weren’t sure what, but you reached for your bag and fished out the photo strips from the booth. Your eyes scanned the pictures, the smiles and silly faces, the laughter and the loving look you gave each other, and lastly, the kiss. There was no question in you that in that very moment, even if for just one second, he wanted it too.
You laid one of the pictures over your dress, picking up a few small gifts you got as part of the promotion, then snapped a picture of the ensemble. You made sure to not include the very last photo in it – sure, it was a post for your social media, but at the same time, something much more. You knew it could be a bold move, you knew Ashton will know what you have left out of your post, and deep down you hoped it would help the two of you start talking about what happened back there.
yourname shared a post: What a wonderful night at the ‘Fade Into The Ocean’ premier! Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us! Check out the movie if you can!
Special shout out to my best partner in crime @ashtonirwin for being my fun date tonight!
Before you could chicken out you posted the picture, quickly disconnecting from the internet so you didn’t check if Ashton reacted to it or not. You were sure he was already asleep, it’s been more than an hour since you have parted ways in the hallway. Yet still, you were hoping that he understood what you really meant with your post.
You didn’t want to believe it first, but there was a soft knock a few minutes later. You picked up your robe as you crossed the suite, putting it on before opening the door – and there he was. Ashton was standing in front of you, wearing his black sweatpants, something he always wore as PJs. His hair was a mess of unruly curls, tan skin and the ink of his tattoos illuminated in the lamplight of the hallway and your room.
“Hey, uhm… can I come in?” he rubbed the back of his neck, a pink tint colouring his cheeks.
“Always,” you nodded, taking a step back to let him into the room. “Cannot sleep either?”
“No, not really,” Ashton chuckled, following you. “I just wanted to ask you something.”
“What’s that?”
“Can I maybe get my pictures? I think you grabbed both of them.”
“Of course, just… let me get them,” you nodded towards your bedroom, already turning around.
It kinda felt like defeat – like he’s gonna look at them and decide that the first three were fine, but maybe you should both forget about the last one and what it meant. Ashton didn’t seem like he wanted to talk about it, and suddenly you wished he would leave so you could feel pity for yourself. But before you could take a step you felt his hand reaching for yours, grabbing your wrist and tugging you back a little.
“And maybe another goodnight kiss as well?” he cocked an eyebrow at you while softly biting his bottom lip.
Suddenly you needed to laugh, the sound bubbling up from your chest, and you could see Ashton’s smile as well as he pulled you back and against his chest, hands cradling your cheeks as he pressed his lips against yours, kissing you deeply. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pushing up on your tiptoes as you kissed him back, and while you felt dizzy from the way his lips moved against yours, you also felt that calm, safe feeling settling in your heart, the one you always associated with Ashton. This is what home felt like. Being with him.
“Did you really think I’m not gonna bring this up?” he playfully nipped your lip when you finally pulled back, your cheeks heated from his question.
“I thought I went too far,” you whispered, fingers playing with the curls at the nape of his neck. “We didn’t say much after it happened. I mean… I know I kinda ran away, but…”
“I understand. We were at the premier and that wasn’t the time and place where we could talk about this,” he pushed a lock of hair behind your ear, still looking lovingly at you. “But don’t think for a second that I didn’t want to kiss you breathless all through the night. I just needed to, you know, keep myself in check. And I also thought you might have regretted it, and… I’m not sure I could have been able to take that. Not after feeling so much for you all through these years.”
“How long exactly?” you questioned him, and Ashton let out an embarrassed chuckle, knocking his forehead against yours, eyes shining and looking into your eyes.
“Maybe from the moment I met you. But definitely since I’ve poured coffee all over you and you just didn’t give a damn about it. It was so easy to fall in love with you. Cause you know: you were my best friend.”
“You stayed with me all through these years, even though I was seeing other people. Even though I was kissing guys on camera. Even though I only recently realized what you really mean to me,” you cupped Ashton’s jaw, rubbing your thumb over his cheek.
“Took you long enough,” he chuckled again, making you giggle as well. “But it didn’t matter. I was lucky enough to spend most of my time with you, and if that would have been the only thing I got in the end, I still would have taken it, without a question.”
“I don’t want you to feel like that ever again,” you pressed small kisses onto his lips, mumbling words and confessions as he held you close. “Because I’m the lucky one, having a best friend like you. Someone who took care of me and who’s still doing it every day. Someone who’s just an absolutely wonderful human being, and there is really no one who compares to you, Ash. Gosh, I love you so much, and I’ve been trying to push away these feelings because I thought I’m gonna ruin us, but it was just so hard because all through these years you really just felt like–”
“Home?” Ashton finished for you, and you nodded, lost for words. “That’s what you’re making me feel too.”
“Wherever we went, you were always the person I looked for when I felt homesick or alone. You just make everything feel… okay. I would happily lose everything else as long as I have you.”
“Don’t go that far. I do love you being the wonderful actress that you are. I’m happy to cheer you on from the sideline,” Ashton kissed your forehead. “As long as I have you.”
“I think we have a lot to talk about,” you mumbled against his chest as you burrowed closer to him, and you felt him nodding above you. “And I don’t think I could fall asleep now.”
“So how about you give me my pictures and we climb into bed? I could kiss you some more while we figure this all out. And if we do fall asleep, well… we can continue tomorrow. And maybe find another photobooth to make some new memories. I would love to recreate the last picture of us. Many, many times.”
“I’ll make sure to kiss you again. And again. And again.”

So, I reread your post on how you aren't too fond of spy parodies in the James Bond vein, and it made me think: what are your thoughts on how TF2 intersects with that kind of pulp fiction or spy fiction?
I don't think I'm "not too fond of" spy parodies in general, really, whatever my thoughts on James Bond himself I'm not adverse to spy fiction or spy parodies, they just usually don't do much of anything for me. Maybe part of that is because I got really, really spoiled early with TF2, which was one of my first big fandoms.
First thing that comes to mind with the idea of an intersection between TF2 and spy fiction is an SFM short called Agent Gunn: Vulkanite, which is fan-made but well-made to the point it might as well be official. It's a short film about this badass superspy Bond character with an ending that shows what happens when you put James Bond in the TF2 universe: He may get to do all that James Bond crap and look cool and stylish and so on, but since this is Team Fortress 2, the Mercs will eventually show up to kick his ass and steal his shit and ride off into the sunset laughing at him. Whether that’s because this is their turf and old-school conventions don’t apply here, because TF2′s parody status demands this to happen, or because it’s the TF2 mercs and this is just what you’d expect them to do regardless, it’s up to you.
Tumblr media
TF2 over the years has kinda blossomed into this ever-more-absurd cartoon of itself in a way that's only made it funnier and more long-lasting than it might have been otherwise, so it's interesting to look back on it's early years, in it's initial design documents, and see a point where they had the design and art style figured out, but not quite the personality down pat. It’s funny to think that TF2′s design was specifically set to be retro-inspired, in many ways more retro than Team Fortress 1 (Classic) was intended to be, because “retro” is not usually an adjective we associate with timeless design, quite the opposite. Team Fortress 2′s approach to design is, or at least was, a bunch of J.C Leyendecker-looking characters duking it out in an 1960s spy movie setting, a combination that feels like it should be in a dated prequel to a modern FPS, not in the sequel to one.
A lot of this comes down to the fact that Team Fortress 2 was, originally, intended to have that kind of modern warfare aesthetic, and they had 9 years in development to work out a lot of things about this game and change it, ultimately realizing that all their attempts to make this gritty and realistic and serious experience didn’t match at all the actual experience of playing a first-person shooter, which is chaos and nonsense and people dicking around. They ended up instead taking the better road, which was to embrace the chaos and allow for the game to be funny, but most importantly, make it distinct. Making each of it’s characters distinct from each other became the top priority, and it paid off superbly.
A lot of what sets TF2 apart from most other FPS games comes from the fact that it works with the player experience and embraces it in it’s sheer chaos, and this, I think, also works in it’s favor in regards to how it relates to those two influences. TF2 gets a lot of praise for it’s extremely strong cast of personalities and rightfully so, and it also gets a lot of great jokes out of just playing around with the setting it’s built for itself and how the characters live, kill and/or die in it. The characters are absurd because the world is absurd, and sometimes the world gets so absurd that the characters can even look normal or well-adjusted by comparison.
I think a lot of it’s strengths are helped by the fact that it’s characters weren’t originally designed to be funny first and foremost, which is why the comics succeed in doing dramatic bits with them, but they all lend themselves to be funny not just because of their personalities, but because they live and participate in this superspy warfare world, and that kind of thing is just inherently bonkers no matter how you cut it. It’s a lot like how, no matter how dark and gritty and aggressively self-important superheroes get, they will never wash away that childish whimsy of it’s origins, and this is not at all a negative. Team Fortress 2 gets to have pretty much most of the great and cool parts of spy fiction, even played as straight as the creators want it to be, or making it even cooler by having you live out those (particularly if you happen to be one of the bastards who plays Spy, which I am lmao), but it also gets to dick around and poke fun at the entire genre/format extensively.
It’s intersection with spy fiction is that TF2 (and Venture Bros as well) is one of the great, wonderful consequences of living in a world where Austin Powers killed James Bond.
Tumblr media
Now, there’s an argument to be made that TF2 isn’t exactly pulling from “traditional” pulp fiction that much, considering that the bulk of it’s inspirations comes from the men’s adventure paperbacks that were specifically not the pulps and were partially instrumental in the downfall of pulp fiction in American circles. But, I can’t bring myself to seriously argue that kind of stuff doesn’t fall under the pulp umbrella (I think most people even call it pulp nowadays), I think I’ve talked enough about how impossible and useless it is to define pulp fiction under those parameters. It’s also not an argument worth exploring in regards to TF2 because, well, it very clearly has pulp love in it’s blood, the biggest reasoning as to why being, the entire existence of Saxton Hale,
Tumblr media
who’s sort of Professor Challenger if he borrowed Doc Savage’s workout ethic, and General Zaroff for most of the other ethics. Who initially existed mainly so the creators could get as much over-the-top pulp nonsense humor out of their systems as possible, and who stayed that way even as he was developed into more of a character, still far more absurd than the other characters but with an established personality, as the merc’s comedically insensitive boisterious arms-dealing Great White Hunter shitbag of a boss with this wholly separate world of adventures that mostly don’t show up and don’t matter except for when it’s funny, and who gets away with being a shitbag because he’s funny and the setting has considerably worse villains.
To bring up Venture Bros again, in some ways, Saxton kinda feels like he fulfills a similar role to Jonas Venture Sr, in the sense that he’s painted with broader strokes than the other characters in ways that make him a monument to the pulp side of things that runs in the work’s blood, sort of embodying a part of this universe in a way, and the fact that these two are more of aggressive pastiches than the other characters serves to underline that they are not on the same level as the other characters and also that they lord over them, because they fit in this world in ways they don’t, because they’re cut out to thrive in all this retro superspy cartoon warfare nonsense, if not having outright created or inspired much of it himself. Saxton is practically a saint compared to Jonas but, that has more to do with the fact that Team Fortress 2 is considerably more light-hearted and funny than Venture Bros and it has considerably different priorities for storytelling.
Tumblr media
Speaking of the more pulp side of TF2, it’s also important to note that, in the lore of the series, it was established that the conflict between RED vs BLU has been ongoing for decades before any of the mercs were even born, and that the first team of mercenaries (pictured above) hired by the Mann brothers in 1850 consisted of sort of a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen set-up of several big historical figures filling in the roles, most of whom based on real people except for John Henry (who fills in for Heavy), and Fu Manchu (who was the original Spy). A lot of modern pulp works use this approach extensively in order to go for a retro vibe or explore alternate history scenarios and, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have to dig very hard to find one or several examples of “pulp” stories written in modern times where Abraham Lincoln’s wielding a flamethrower or Nikola Tesla kickstarts a sci-fi revolution.
I will say that I do find the usage of Fu Manchu in this line-up interesting.  The bulk of the character’s adventures all take place in the 1900s (with the earliest date canonically attributed to him being 1880 as when he began a plot spanning 30 years, and PJF attributing his birth year to 1840), and no work, as far as I can find, ever depicted him as a young man, let alone potentially a hero (the comics do emphasize a lot how Spy as a person is nowhere near as much of a bastard as his in-game reputation indicates) and certainly not a team player alongside the likes of Nikola Tesla, and considering the kind of things he does and says as an elderly crimelord, for Fu Manchu to have spent his youth working as a mercenary for rich American bastards? That implies a character arc of sorts. (This seems to be the last named appearence Fu Manchu has ever made in any piece of pop culture, not counting Shang Chi’s father, but a name change doesn’t really make him a different character and plenty of really great modern Shang Chi stories still make use of the Fu Manchu iconography to make a point without making any actual tribute to the character, which is the ideal outcome). This is a largely irrelevant piece of trivia within the context of TF2, just something I wanted to highlight if we’re talking the way pulp shows up in TF2, at least overtly.
Part of the reason why I did bring up Venture Bros and other stuff is because, and I do stress this everytime I get talking about TF2, but the game has grown so much past it’s beginnings that it’s kind of mind-boggling to get your head around, for the past 15 years it’s been alive and kicking and, much like it’s characters, breaking the rules and defying logic and somehow still staying alive even when they should have been dead and buried a billion times now, even after it’s been followed up by countless shinier and trendier shooters, even after it’s been left to die and plagued with issues after issues, after everyone says it’s dead. I guess to me that’s the most “pulp” thing about it, the way it intersects most with the kind of pulp fiction I spotlight on my blog.
Not just it’s aesthetics and approach to storytelling and violence and humor and protagonist as unhinged and mercurial as they are human and persistent to the bitter end, but the fact that the thing as a whole just doesn’t die, even when by all means it already has and shouldn’t even exist anymore. It just keeps on finding new ways to live again and again and keep on trucking, as fiction, as a style, as a fanbase, as a meme (as many, many, many, many, many memes, actually), as a dream or goal. It’s still beloved by many and it still has plenty of gas in the tank. It will not die.
Tumblr media
...It sure could use an actual goddamn update any second now, though.

RWBY COMBAT ANALYSIS: MAY MARIGOLD (Preliminary Evaluation)
Tumblr media
“Mantle needed me, and to the Marigolds, that meant I wasn't their son anymore. And I made sure that everyone knew that I wasn't their daughter.”
I’m a little late to the party, but who am I to miss out on all the “May” jokes?  Today, we’re going to be looking at the Happy Huntress May Marigold…or at least we should be.
Yeah, see, there’s a bit of a problem we have here.  Anyone who’s seen my Tier Chart will notice that each Tier has a collection of characters outlined in red, the guide at the top labeling them as “Tentative/Prediction”.  This is because, for any number of reasons, I cannot assign a concrete ranking to the character in question, and their current placement is simply an educated guess. Because my analyses are based primarily on examine confirmed feats and accolades, some characters can’t be properly ranked if they don’t have the material I need to draft their statistics.  May Marigold is sadly one of these ambiguous situations. Despite being easily one of the best new additions to the cast in Volumes 7 and 8, helped in no small part by the excellent voice work by Kdin Jenzen, we have little to no information regarding May’s combative effectiveness.  She has never been seen actively participating in combat, her uses of her Semblance have only been seen strictly for utility purposes, and her standing compared to her contemporaries has never been brought up.
‘But wait!” I hear you cry. “That Mantle bum Forest said that the Happy Huntresses were all top graduates of Atlas Academy! Certainly, that means that they’re some of the best in the setting, right?”
Yes…on paper.  What little we do know about May, and Fiona and Joanna for that matter, stems from the overall reputation of the Happy Huntresses, and based on the high standards we have consistently seen from Atlas students, it is very fair to say that they stand as highly respected names among the cast we’ve seen.  However, while a solid reputation can certainly help in crafting an analysis, you still need a few feats to prove that your accolades hold weight.  Essentially, May has a great reputation, but no substance, which is a bad thing when the substance is what’s needed to make a ranking. As such, this analysis is more of a preliminary report, where I make an educated guess as to May’s capabilities based on the limited information we have.  If the semi-speculative nature of this profile is not to your liking, you are forewarned.
PHYSICAL
Originally from the upper crust of Atlas society, May Marigold is a human female, and as an older contemporary of Team RWBY, she is likely in her late 20s to early 30s, still prime years for a professional Huntress.  Standing at 5’10”and distinguished by her blue hair, amber eyes, and slim athletic build, May supplements her physique with light armor, specifically padded gloves and a chestpiece worn underneath her brown overcoat, topped off with rugged thigh high boots.  While she is certainly very capable physically and in robust health given the rigors of her profession and the harsh tundra of Solitas, we have no athletic showings to draw from to indicate where her areas of expertise could be.  However, while she hasn’t demonstrated any major strengths, neither has she shown any significant weaknesses, and I think it goes without saying that she’s not going to be some glass cannon who can’t take a hit.  Overall, she’s fit, in her prime, and clearly knows how to conduct herself, meaning she should at bare minimum be able to contend with most of her contemporaries on the back of raw physicality.
RANKING: ≥ Tier 3, Advanced Human Fitness
Tumblr media
MARTIAL
In terms of martial combat, May Marigold is armed with a collapsible quarterstaff tipped with magazine-fed crossbows and bayonets, a weapon model she shared with her teammates Joanna Greenleaf and Fiona Thyme.  As has already been stated, May has no combat feats to her credit beyond a brief glimpse of her killing a Sabyr in Mantle, so determining her physical technique and tactical sensibilities is next to impossible.  The closest thing we have to gauge May’s skill is Robyn Hill’s story about how she (Robyn) was the first one to defeat Joanna in a presumed sparring match, implying that May is below the pair of them, as well as her combat animations in the Amity Arena mobile game suggesting a preference for the polearm function.  While this fares well for placing Robyn and Joanna, this is a vague designation as Joanna’s own skill level is unconfirmed and there is no information on how this fight played out.  That said, we can estimate based on her few accolades and the circumstances of her career.  On the one had, May is certainly not on the level of a true master level fighter like Qrow or Tyrian.  Given that she spent the bulk of her time fighting Grimm and supporting Robyn’s political campaign, combined with their isolation from Atlas restricting the range of fighter types she could regularly spar with, she simply wouldn’t have the chance to prepare himself for single combat they way they could.  On the other hand, she’s also not likely to just be a better than average fighter like Jaune or Ilia.  She IS a distinguished graduate of Atlas Academy, and given the dangers accosting Mantle prior to the fall of Atlas, she would have always been prepared for a harsh battle. Furthermore, the skill gap between Robyn (who was able to hold off Bake and Yang at the same time) and her teammates is not likely significant enough to render a curb stomp, which would put May comfortably above the rank-and -file huntress.
RANKING: ≥ Tier 4, Advanced Application
Tumblr media
SPECIAL
May’s Semblance, Invisibility Field, is easily her most well-defined attribute, and her displays are extremely impressive both in the range of applications and the magnitude of her powers.  Her participation in Robyn’s convoy raids demonstrated her ability to extend the field to cover an impressively wide area, and its ability to suppress noise enables greater freedom of movement and greatly enhances her stealth capabilities.  While the field cannot cloak life signatures and has no defenses against incoming movement, May is almost certainly aware of this and is more the likely careful enough to avoid those kinds of problems.  While we have seen several powers and abilities that optimize their user for covert ops and infiltration, I think it is safe to say that May’s field blows every other ability out of the water even without any Dust or gadgets to supplement her loadout.  The only limitation I have in ranking this power is that we don’t know how of if this power can be applied to combat, as all her uses so far have been strictly for utility and espionage.  If she can regularly exploit her powers in battle, then she could be a truly devastating ambush predator, turning battles into miniature guerrilla wars.
RANKING: ≥ Tier 3, Specialized Combat
Tumblr media
TENTATIVE OVERALL RANKING: TIER 4, EXPERT HUNTRESS
Tumblr media
While the bulk of what I have said today has been speculation rather than the facts I prefer, I do hold that this is the most likely ranking for May Marigold given everything we know about her.  She is a highly capable, well-trained, and experienced Huntress, and while she may not be one of the all-time greats, she is still a respected name, and her reputation had to have come from somewhere.  To put her in perspective to her peers, I simply refuse to believe that even a lowballed May is not at the very least comparable to the likes of Blake, Ren and Sun, and if you want to highball her, an argument could be made for her to be a Tier 3 in the mold of Pyrrha, Adam or Yang.  As it stands, the only thing that I can see as restricting her overall level is her career circumstances limiting her ability to enter the upper echelon of duelists,  Even then, she would still be a major obstacle for most Tier 3s even on her worst day, and on her best, I could even see her threatening some Tier 2s.  Though she is in all likelihood a manageable threat to the true masters of her era, she is most certainly still a credible one.
(TLDR, this is my position.  Bear in mind this is in the sense of overall combative effectiveness, not power scaling, so take any of the dynamics of the people here with a grain of salt.)
Tumblr media
I fully admit I was hesitant to do this breakdown given the lack of concrete information to draw on, but I still wanted to do it due to how much I love May.  While her appearances have not lent a lot of insight into her combative capabilities, they have shed plenty of light on her character. T his is a woman who turned away from the life of comfort and luxury she could have enjoyed to dedicate herself to a higher calling, serving those who could not protect themselves, even if doing so meant being shunned by her family.  She could have taken the easy path, but instead chose what was ultimately the right one.  Despite her outward cynicism and confrontational personality, May is clearly a kind and compassionate woman at her core, and the nature of her story speaks to a remarkable degree of courage and conviction in her principles.  And that's without even touching on her status as the series' first transgender character, something her story powerfully reflects and highlights.  May has easily become one of my favorite supporting characters, and I can’t thank Kdin enough for bringing her to life.
Speaking of Kdin, if you manage to see this, what do you think? I know how much you love talking about May, so I’d love to hear your personal thoughts. What do you think May is like as a fighter? Headcanons are better than no canon at all, especially when they, for all intents and purposes, come from Ms. Marigold herself!

Chapter 3 is up - Ted and Trent talk about Ted’s feelings about Michelle... read on A03 or below.
This is a continuous story of episode codas - now with cover art!
Chapter 3
Trent can’t help but think that ‘on a break” is a lot less funny in real life than in an American sitcom.
*****
The night after the first game with Zava, that incredible win, Trent meets Ted at his flat for a late dinner.  It’s clear from the start that something is wrong.  Ted’s smiles are halfhearted, his jokes fall flat.  He barely reacts when Trent sings him a few bars of Julie Andrews’ greatest hits and offers to dance him around the living room.  What should be a night of celebration is going nowhere fast.
Trent tries to engage him in conversation about Zava and how he might affect the team’s dynamics, a topic on which they have both been speculating about at length.  Now, with some actual evidence in the form of watching Zava play with Richmond, there should be lots to talk about.  But Ted only vaguely participates in the conversation, finally just staring off into space over his bowl of chicken biryani.
“Ted, are you all right?”  Trent finally asks, reaching out to take the wavering fork out of Ted’s hand.
“Hm, yes, I’ll talk to Jamie.”
“Ted?  We left off talking about Jamie ten minutes ago.”
Ted blinks at him, and then shakes his head.  “Sorry.  You must think I’m losing it.”
“I am a little concerned, to be sure.”
Ted stands up and takes a few steps away from the table, pausing with his hands on the back of his head, facing away from Trent.  “I found something out today that, um, threw me a bit.”
Trent follows Ted and loops his arms around him from behind.  To his surprise and dismay, Ted doesn’t relax into his embrace and nuzzle into his neck like he usually does.  Instead he steps out of Trent’s arms, turning to face him.
“I’m so sorry, Trent.”
Trent feels the blood rush from his face, but he forces himself not to jump to conclusions.  “Sorry for what?”
“I called home to talk to Henry today.”  Ted clears his throat.  He’s doing that thing with his hands, rubbing his fingers together.  “Found out kinda by accident, I guess, that Michelle is with our former marriage counselor.  Dr. Jacob.  Seems like it’s been goin’ on a while.  Dr. Jacob is at my house, he’s picking up my phone and doing impressions.  He’s driving Henry to soccer.”
Trent can feel how hurt Ted is by this.  It’s palpable.  “Oh, sweetheart.  That must feel like a betrayal.”
“Yes, yes it does,” Ted says, moving closer.  “That’s exactly it.”
“You don’t have to apologize for being upset about it.”  Trent holds Ted’s gaze for a moment, trying to figure out how to comfort him.  In the past, when Ted has been anxious, he had wanted Trent’s company, whether to distract him or just hold him close.  But at the moment that doesn’t seem to be the case.  “What can I do?  Do you want to get into bed, call it a night?”
Ted shakes his head, wipes at his eyes.
“Would you rather be alone tonight?  Am I making it worse?”
Ted laughs, a bitter, wet sound.  “You know, the irony is that you are one of the few things that has ever made this better.  You make me better, you make me happy, Trent, but…”
“But what?”  Trent asks, his voice sinking low.
“The way I feel right now… it’s not fair to you.”
Trent reaches out, he can’t help it, Ted is so distraught.  But Ted just steps away again.  It’s like a punch to the gut.  Trent takes a deep breath and tries to center himself, tries to focus on what Ted needs, not the rejection swirling in his own chest.  “Can we sit down?”
“Yeah, sure.”
They arrange themselves on the couch, stiff and awkward and not at all comfortable, but Trent feels a little bit better with something stable under him, something to hold on to.  He hopes Ted does too.
“Can you tell me why you think this isn’t fair to me?” he asks carefully.  “Because you don’t have to be in a good mood for me to want to be with you.  I care about you no matter how you’re feeling.”  This is a conversation they’ve had before.  Ted’s anxiety and what Trent is pretty sure is depression isn’t something that’s going away.  It’s something he is working on managing, and living with, and Trent has made clear – or at least he thought he had – that he is there for Ted on the bad days as well as the good days.  His regard for Ted doesn’t depend on the status of his mental health.
“I know that,” Ted says, “and I appreciate it, I do, more than I can say.  That’s why it’s so gosh darn hard.”
Trent doesn’t know what to do with this.  “Ted, please tell me what’s going on.  Have I done something wrong?”
“No, lord no.  You’re good as gold, Trent, better, even, you’re platinum.  But I’m not.  I’m… the thing is… I don’t know if I’m <i>over</i> it, over Michelle and the divorce and losing her and my family and-”  Ted breaks off and presses his hand over his mouth, shaking his head.  “I don’t wanna get deeper into this and hurt you worse.  It’s not fair.”
Trent has been broken up with before.  He’s an adult, he can handle it.  But he really didn’t see it coming from this angle, not with how good things have been with Ted.  A mean, low thought bubbles up and the words leave his mouth before he can stop them.
“I suppose it’s a lot simpler to pine after your ex-wife than come out about your relationship with a man.”
Ted’s eyes go wide.  “You don’t really believe that’s what this is about.”
Trent lets himself wallow for a moment, takes shelter in anger to camouflage his pain.  “Maybe I do.”
“Oooh boy, I’ve really screwed this up then, haven’t I,” Ted says, standing up and walking over to the front windows where he leans a hand against the wall.  “Boy howdy, you know that’s not true, and I know you know it.”  Ted turns back towards Trent.  “Remember that song, that Joni Mitchell one about the taxi that isn’t really about the taxi?  Where she says you don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone?”
Trent swallows over what feels like a rock in his throat.  “Is that how you feel about Michelle?”
Ted drops back down on the couch, closer to Trent this time, and reaches out to take his hand.  Trent grips it gratefully, feels himself tremble as Ted squeezes back.  “No, Trent.  It’s how I feel about you.”
The anger drains out of him, like it always does with Ted.  He doesn’t know how anyone can be mad at Ted.  Still, he doesn’t quite understand the reference, and it’s not for lack of deep knowledge of Joni Mitchell’s catalogue.  “But I’m not gone, Ted.  I’m not going anywhere.”
“But you will be gone.  Or, probably you’ll be.  You have every right to be.”
“Ted, please just tell me what’s going on.  It sounds like you’re about to tell me you slept with Michelle, but I know that isn’t the case.”
“No.  But if she showed up here right now and said she’d take me back, I’m afraid I’d say yes.”
“Oh.”  Trent’s mind goes blank.  “Well.  Then.”  He runs a hand through his hair and stands up, straightens his clothing.  “All right, well, thank you for dinner.  I’ll be off.”  He can hear how ridiculous he sounds, how pathetically <i>British,</I> but there’s nothing to be done.
“Trent,” Ted says, and he’s on his feet too, his hand catching the sleeve of Trent’s jacket.  “Maybe… we could just take a break, give me a little time to work this out?”
“A break?”
“Yeah.  Trent, I care about you.  A lot.  You know I do, right?  You’re the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time-”
“Since Michelle,” Trent mutters.  Second best, second choice.  It’s miserable.
Ted stares at him, a worried line between his brows, and Trent hates that Ted is now focused on consoling him.  But then Ted quirks a little smile.  “I suppose it’s what you’d call ‘bad form’ to tell you how much I wish I could just kiss you right now, and make it all better?”
Trent lets out a long breath on a sigh.  “Yes, Ted, it’s bad form to tease a man like that as you send him on his way.”  He takes off his glasses, rubs the lenses with his t-shirt, and puts them back on.  “Do you really think it’s worth calling this a ‘break,’ rather than a ‘break-up’? Because I’m generally a fan of ripping the band-aid off, as you might say.  Not sure it’s going to be any easier in the long run.”
“I do.  And I know it’s a lot to ask, maybe, that you keep your heart open for me for a while.  But I appreciate you, Trent, and I appreciate what we’ve got.  I can’t bear for it to be gone because I’m still tangled up with Michelle, somewhere  deep down I haven’t been able to reach yet.”
“But you need us to be apart while you figure it out.”
“It’s the only thing I can think of.”
Trent hates this, hates it with every part of his being.  But he loves Ted, even if he hasn’t said it yet.   Ted isn’t making up drama, he is doing just the opposite and being as honest with Trent as he can.  And if Ted really isn’t over Michelle, after a year and a half, then it might not be the worst idea to slow things down.
“All right.”
“Yeah?”  It’s the most hopeful Ted has looked all night.
“Yes, Ted.  We can be ‘on a break.’”  Trent rolls his eyes a little for emphasis, and to make Ted smile.
Ted snorts.  “Thank you, Trent.  I appreciate it.  I think it might help, even if it hurts, too, you know, like that awful stinging red stuff my dad used to put on my scraped knees.  And it won’t be so bad, really, I mean – we’ll see each other at work.”
“Holy christ, you think that will make it easier?”
Ted gives a helpless shrug.  “Give it a chance?”
Trent nods and leans forward out of habit, stopping himself just before kissing Ted good night.  Ted looks at him sadly but escorts him out of the door nonetheless.
Trent walks to the tube with tears pooling in his eyes and Joni Mitchell singing in his head.

Mixed Signals; Junior Year, January; Rated M
James Elliott is the history teacher with whom Arthur shares his office and he is also the assistant coach for the boys’ swim team. For this reason, Arthur doesn’t initially do anything other than nod congenially when Elliott enters, but he does note that there must be a meet this evening since he is already dressed in his team t-shirt and jumper.
Elliott does have a certain urgent energy about him as he checks his phone and his email, cursing under his breath.
“Is everything alright?” Arthur finally asks.
“Ahhhhh, yeah. Sorta. Two of my timers called out. Now we’re even more shorthanded than usual and since we’re hosting the meet, we’re supposed to provide the timers, so I’m in a bit of a bind.”
Arthur nods and returns to his grading. “That’s a shame. It can be hard to find reliable help for things like that.”
Elliott sighs. “Yeah. So what if we don’t pull in the backer money that the football team does? We still need help.” He pauses. “Hey Kirkland, I really hate to ask this, but would you mind helping out? Just this once, I swear.”
Arthur freezes, clenching his pen tightly. He could help, he would be happy to help really, he’s ahead of schedule with his grading and his lesson plans are complete through the end of next month. There’s only one problem. Alfred is on the swim team. He has made a point of telling Arthur so. Against his better judgment, Arthur says, “Alright. I’ll do it. Just this once.”
“Thank God, you’re a life saver! I owe you one.”
Arthur can’t even admit to himself what it is he can’t, doesn’t want, to face... a half naked, soaking wet Alfred. And Arthur certainly doesn’t want to give Alfred the satisfaction of knowing he has seen him in that state.
Yet he finds himself at the indoor pool, a digital stopwatch in his hand, while students stretch, rest, hydrate, and laugh and joke with each other. The sounds echo off the walls and the humidity and heat of the large room coupled with the strong smell of chlorine make Arthur dizzy.
“Hey, Arthur,” Alfred’s familiar voice murmurs from behind him, just a little too close.
Arthur whips around to glare at him. He notes that Alfred is thankfully well covered by his hoodie. “It’s Mr. Kirkland to you.”
A delighted smirk twists its way from Alfred’s mouth up to his eyes. “You come to watch me?”
Part of what irritates Arthur the most about Alfred’s ridiculous infatuation is the fact that he actually quite likes Alfred. Or rather, he would easily say Alfred is one of his favorite students if not for said infatuation. He’s a bright young man with a lot of excellent ideas about class material as well as other things--when he can be arsed to participate. Arthur thoroughly enjoys having similarly intelligent students in his other classes, yet Alfred has ruined what could have been a perfectly pleasant, perfectly healthy teacher-student dynamic. Arthur wishes he could say it is all Alfred’s fault. “I came to help Mr. Elliott,” he says, “Apparently, he needs people to keep time.”
“But you could have said no,” Alfred says. He’s not yet taller than Arthur, but he’s tall enough to meet him at eye level. He shrugs casually. “Not much to see anyway, right? It’s all underwater and you ain’t lookin’ of course.”
Arthur rolls his eyes. “Your grammar is atrocious. I should make you stay after class and diagram sentences until your brain leaks out of your ears.” He removes his waistcoat and rolls up his sleeves, which is probably a mistake since he catches Alfred honing in on his tattoos--again, but the heat is getting to him.
Alfred huffs a laugh. “You can make me stay after class any time you want, Arthur. But you’re too scared.” Before Arthur can respond, Alfred walks away, whistling innocently.
Thankfully, the infamous Speedo brief has fallen out of fashion and the current mode is for male swimmers to wear skin tight shorts that reach almost to the knees. It’s not much better, but Arthur’s sanity definitely prefers Alfred in those. The other boys, of course, of course because he is a normal human adult, don’t catch his eye in the slightest. Only Alfred.
Thankfully, Alfred is on varsity and Arthur is spared from timing varsity given that he is new at this and that their times matter more than junior varsity and the rest of the team.
Unfortunately, this affords Arthur the opportunity to observe with full attention while Alfred swims. Alfred was right though, there isn’t much to see in the water. All of the swimmers in Alfred’s races are so fast that it’s generally just a blur of furious white splashing. But he does not miss the powerful roll of Alfred’s shoulders during the 100m butterfly race nor his stamina during the 500m freestyle. He surely does not miss the way Alfred effortlessly hoists himself out of the water after each race, yanking off his goggles and silicone cap, scrubbing his hand through his wet hair. It’s impossible to miss the little grin Alfred sends his way each time.
At about the fourth time, Arthur leaves the pool area to get fresh air. He paces in the hallway, wondering what the hell is wrong with Alfred. Wondering what the hell is wrong with himself. He shouldn’t be feeling these things he can’t even name for fear of breaking some kind of dam in his mind. Alfred is sixteen.
Sixteen.
Arthur wants to attribute all of this to his own frustration brought on by going just a little bit too long without sex. Which he wants to do with an adult. Not a sixteen year old.
Alfred suddenly opens the door and stands directly in front of Arthur. “Hey Arthur--”
“That’s Mr. Kirkland,” Arthur grinds out.
Alfred grins like the cat that got the canary. “How come you had to step out? The chlorine go to your head or something?”
Alfred has a towel draped around his broad shoulders and his goggles hung around his neck. He’s damp, but not dripping wet and Arthur can see his toned body very clearly--lean chest and strong thighs and god damn it. Damn it.
Alfred gives him a sweet smile with half-lidded eyes before he places his cold hands on Arthur’s flushed cheeks and kisses him, eagerly, warmly, rather ineptly, just like the last time. His towel falls to the floor in the process.
Arthur melts for what surely is less than a second, but then snatches Alfred’s wrists and pushes him back. “Are you mad? What do you think you’re doing?””
Alfred frowns momentarily, but shakes it off and grins cheekily. “I dunno, teach, you’re kinda giving me mixed signals here, so I thought I’d try and do a close reading, like we talked about in class.”
“There are no mixed signals!” Arthur growls. “I am your teacher. Your are my student and a child with a bad crush. You need to work on directing that energy toward someone your own age, is that clear?”
Alfred picks up his towel and flings it over one shouler as he turns to head back into the pool. “Sure thing, Mr. Kirkland, I’ll work on that. You did kiss me back though.”
Arthur stands, frozen, his fingers pressed to his lips of their own will. Bloody hell, had he?

A wish for a different life - Adrien AUGreste Day 8
Yes I’m late, but I kept nearly falling asleep. This meant to have more fairy tale annologies and such, but it kinda didn’t work, but I think we can imagine a fairy tail setting for a few of these scenes. Anyway, enjoy
Fairy Tale
“So, I was wondering if maybe, you wanted to come with us?” Adrien asked, ignoring the whispered encouragements his friends gave him. He had to focus or he’d explode. It wasn’t a date, it wasn’t. it wasn’t an excuse to spend more time with Luka, with his kind and calm demeanour, who didn’t give him odd looks when he went off on odd tangents like exs did, who always had a smile for him, who had recently gotten snake bites and damn if Adrien didn’t want to nibble at them.
God help him if Luka ever got the tongue piercing he’d been talking about before. he’d only ever made out with one person who had one, but it was an experience he wouldn’t forget.
But still, this was just him inviting a friend to hang out with them. that he hoped like hell would say yes.
“I have a shift during then. I’m really sorry Adrien.”
Adrien felt his whole body drop. “Oh, it’s ok.”
“It’s bound to be busy that night and I was put on the schedule. I can see if I can meet you guys after between deliveries.”
“No, no, really, it’s fine. Don’t overstretch yourself. I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble just to meet up with us for a little while.”
“Are you sure?” Luka asked, sounding apologetic.
“Its fine, really. I’ll send you lots of pictures ok. Bye.” He hung up, a pout firmly on his lips. It felt stupid to be more upset about this than his mother’s growing schedule.
“I’m sorry buddy.” Nino said, patting his shoulder. “you’re still totally good to hang with us.”
“Yeah. I’m still going, don’t worry, I just kinda wanted him to come with us. He’s been busy since we took Kagami to the ice rink.”
Kagami, the newest member of the school’s fencing team had sort of become friends with the group. She had allowed Adrien to practise his Japanese on her when he recognised her family name and when she’d taken on Marinette – who Adrien dared to try joining when she teased, she could probably beat him if he –, who held up pretty long against her, she’d been insistent that she train Marinette up. In hopes to get Kagami to loosen up, she invited her ice skating with Adrien and Luka, who she claimed could help open her up. It had, and they ended up helping Phillippe keep the rink open when Kagami decided the lessons would help improve her balance. He could have done without akuma attack, as cool as it was to see Scarlet Bug and Catseye with power ups.
“Well, it’s like your mom. Busier but that doesn’t mean you still can’t see them.”
“Except I have permission to go see my mom at lunch if her schedule allows it. I can’t exactly go see Luka at his school and I’m not gonna hound poor Juleka for information on her brother.”
“What’s the matter? Adrien can’t get a date?” Lila asked, passing by.
“At least I’m not spending my free time eavesdropping on conversations. Latest headline, Lila Agreste starts bullying students.” Adrien mocked.
“Not much of a headline when everyone knows. I hear someone’s campaign to fix her image isn’t going well. Though I guess publicly refusing to participate in a music video for the city’s heroes involving a singer your father styles doesn’t help.” Alya joked, the group giggling as Lila turned red and stormed off. “I don’t think Juleka will mind you asking after him. Did he sound really sorry he couldn’t go?”
“Yeah.”
“Adrien, I don’t know why your so worried. I feel like you can ask him anything and he’d say yes.”
“I don’t want him to just do things because he feels like he has to.”
“And that is why I’m sure he likes you. you still going to the Embassy during lunch? They have eclairs for dessert today. We can gorge a little.”
“Yeah. Mama managed to snag reservations at this place that has Taiwanese soup dumplings. Don’t kill yourselves on the desserts. We still have to see the fireworks tonight.”
He tried to push away how sad he still was when he met his mother outside of school. Even while busy on the phone, he knew his mother could tell something was wrong. Not that it was, really. He just, really liked Luka. he barely knew Adrien and he’d been offering advice to him in hopes to help him with his mom. He was open and kind and fun to be around. That gentle smile did things to his stomach and he always had words of encouragement no matter what. Adrien wanted to do the same for him and give him the same joy he felt around him. He couldn’t remember the last time he fell for someone that quickly, but not in a scary way, but in a way that gave him butterflies at the idea it could be more.
“What’s wrong?” his mom asked after Adrien took a picture of her mixing their tofu and 100-year-old egg appetizer.
“It’s kinda stupid. I’m not mad or anything, just kinda upset about the situation. I asked Luka if he wanted to join us to go see the World Cup Fireworks but he’s working tonight. He offered to try and meet up after they’re over but it’s supposed to be busy. We just haven’t been able to talk for a while, he’s been pretty busy. He did sound really bad but I still feel upset.”
“Oh caro. That’s perfectly ok. If you were angry at him, I’d be a little concerned. It’s ok that you miss him. It’s a bit similar to me being busy, isn’t it?”
“Yeah. All the initiatives for Akumas and the World Cup? I guess it’s just that I can come visit you during lunch. Luka is home schooled so his schedule is different. He starts later so by the time he’s out for lunch, we’re back in class. Plus, he’s been working extra hours.” Adrien said, poking the see-through egg.
“You know, I was about to do study abroad when I first met your dad. I was going to America for the first time for a whole semester but I’d just met the most amazing person. It was harder then, not having cell and email or even Skype. We sent a lot of letters to each other, but it still hurt to not see him as often. But being with someone isn’t always as fairy tale perfect. Only those few special moments. I know it sucks to not talk to him as often as before right now, but focus on when you can have. Things will lighten up soon.”
                                               ____________
“Ugg, she can be so infuriating!” Alya complained, still mad at how her older sister Nora or Anansi as she’d asked to be called, had been behaving before. she was protective, which was fine, but she seemed to have little trust in Scarlet Bug and Catseye and wanted to protect her family by taking on the Akuma herself. She challenged them to an arm-wrestling match for Alya’s freedom, which Marinette helped cheat on, but it had been the lecture Alya gave her sister that sealed the deal. Adrien hoped that with how she tried defending her family, Anansi would be safe against akumatization.
The blonde noticed his best friend still pouting, no doubt from Anansi’s words and having to need in trying to show he could rescue Alya.
“Hey, don’t listen to her.” Nino looked confused and glanced at Alya. “No, Anansi. you can protect Alya. You’re the knight to her, princess? That doesn’t fully suit her. Hmm, maybe, you’re the Kunzite to her Venus? No, I never understood that couple.”
“I’m her support pillar?”
“That works. Her support pillar. She’s capable of saving herself but you won’t let her when it comes down to it and I think that matters most. And Alya knows that. You guys are more in sync with more than just your dance moves.”
“Thanks dude. I’m just worried that when she needs it, I won’t be able to protect her.”
“You will. You’d be surprised at what you can accomplish.” Adrien said putting an arm around Nino.
Nino finally started to smile. “Thanks dude.”
They arrived at the front of the line for the Ferris wheel and were stop by the attendant.
“Sorry, only 3 to a carriage.”
“What? The max is 8 people.” Marinette stated.
“With the fireworks, people have been rejoining different groups in line, not allowing others to get a chance. It’s easier to keep track of groups of 3.”
“But we have 4. We all came together. isn’t there anyway you can let all of us on?” Alya asked.
“Sorry. On or not?”
“You guys go ahead.” Adrien offered. “I’ll just watch them from down here.”
“No, Adrien.”
“Guys, it’s fine.”
“Excuse me.” An older woman behind them spoke up. “Just my son and I were going up. If you’re ok with it, you’re more than welcome to go up with us.”
“Is it ok?” At her nod, Adrien smiled at her. “Thank you so much. I’ll wave to you guys from my carriage.”
Soon enough it was their turn. As he helped the kind lady and her child into the carriage, Adrien’s phone started to ring. Thinking it was the others, he answered as he sat down on the free seat.
“I just got on, calm down.”
“Adrien?”
“Luka?” sure enough it was Luka’s picture on his screen. “Aren’t you working?”
“Look out of your carriage.”
Adrien looked out on the entrance side as they started to move and caught a very familiar sight of blue waving at him while on the phone.
“Luka! I thought you were working?” he asked watching Luka get smaller and smaller.
“I was, but my boss called and said 2 others had come in begging for shifts. A lot of the others are usually working paycheck to paycheck so I offered my shifts. If I got here sooner, we could have gone up together.”
“But I thought you were trying to save up for the new amp?”
“it can wait. I haven’t seen you in ages and I missing seeing you.”
Adrien couldn’t help the giddy smile growing on his face. He still stared down at where he’d seen Luka, despite him being nothing more than a speck but got distracted by something out of the corner of his eye. he turned to look and let out a yelp as the whole wheel shook.
“Adrien!” Luka yelled from the other line. “It’s an akuma!”
He properly looked and saw the spider creature spit out webs, keeping the wheel from moving.
“I-I think that’s Anansi. Alya’s sister, she didn’t want her coming out and they got into a fight before she left. And, oh god, Luka! she’s going right for their carriage!” He watched as Anansi as yellow as the gear she was in before, rip the carriage off its bolts and jumped down. “Guys!”
His phone beeped as his call was disconnected and he watched as the specks below moved away from the Ferris wheel. He didn’t know what to feel more worried about, Luka in the way of an Akuma or his friends who were the targets of one.
“Are we going to die?” the little kid asked, shakily. His mother shushed him as she held on tight to him.
“Hey, it’s going to be ok. Scarlet Bug and Catseye will be here as soon as they can. You trust them, right?” the little boy nodded. “Good. They need you to believe in them so they can do their best.”
“Like Tinker Bell?”
Adrien let out a small laugh, amazed as the child’s imagination, even in a scary situation. “I don’t know, maybe. They can’t tell us how their powers work so it can be completely up to us.”
Just as the kid seemed to be calming down, they felt the wheel shake again, moving this time. Moving as in the started to roll off the stand and onto the street. the mother pulled her child closer and ducked down and Adrien stood to stand over them. he felt his heart race as he got a full view of the wheel heading toward the Seine river. However, he suddenly saw a very familiar red dot wrap its way around the wheel and a staff land into the mouths of two lion statues that conveniently framed where the wheel would go if it went into the Seine. The wheel slowly started to stop until it hit something that stopped them from moving completely. He let out a sigh of relief. He thought New York was bad. France was nice, but he could so do without the attacks.
“Hey look.” He called to the little boy, pointing at the yoyo as it detangled from the wheel. “they’re here.”
It felt like forever but he watched Catseye and Scarlet Bug go to each carriage and safely take the people to the ground. He worried if they’d be able to get Anansi, who no doubt took the runaway Ferris wheel as an opportunity to get away, with god knew who in hand.
“CatBug express rescue.” Catseye announced as she opened the door and lightly stepped inside. “woman and children first.”
“What about the akuma?” Adrien asked, watching Scarlet Bug take the kid and hold him tightly, his mother not letting him out of her sight as she held onto Catseye.
“She has Alya, but don’t worry. It looks like she wants Nino to go after her and she’s not exactly easy to miss. Sooner we get everyone out and with Fire and Rescue and the EMTs, the sooner we can go after them.” Scarlet Bug explained, his yoyo at the ready. Adrien nodded and watched as the heroes used their tools to get safely to the ground. He looked at his phone, looking at the last call. He hoped Luka was alright. He’d have to call him once he got onto solid ground. He also had to trust they could get to Alya in time. “Hey, ready?”
Like he’d been held when he flew off the ship, Adrien held tight as they repelled down.
“We’ll save your friends, don’t worry. It looked like Nino was really giving it his all to get to Alya.”
“Anansi, she’s Alya’s sister. They got into a fight earlier about if he could protect her. I told him he could, but…”
“Then I’m sure he will. But we’ll get to him before he goes head-to-head with her.” They set down on the ground and he was guided to EMTs. He took in the spotted hero as he ran to where Catseye was waiting as they took off.
It was strange, Scarlet Bug had snake bites now. They were red, almost glowing under the dimness his hood gave his face. They looked good on him.
                                                 _____________
“Alya!” Adrien shot up from the bench seeing Alya, Anansi and Marinette walking back towards him. Oddly, Nino came from a different direction but that didn’t matter. “Are you ok? What happened?”
“A new hero happened! Scarlet Bug and Catseye have a new ally, just like Rena Rouge!” Alya gushed. “How cool is that? Also, you should have seen Nino, he worked so hard to save me. You were like a brave knight.”
“Until I got thrown like the off-shoot character.” Nino said, but still accepted the hug Alya gave him.
“Adrien!” Adrien turned to see Luka squeezing past the remaining cops. They were mostly concerned with keeping the crowd of reporters back, all still looking for a glimpse of their city’s heroes. He was swiftly swept up into a tight hug. “Are you ok? I got pushed back by police when the Fire and Rescue got here. I couldn’t get your phone connected again.”
Adrien hugged back, the last of his fears and worries untwisting from his chest as he pressed his cheek onto Luka’s shoulder. “I’m ok. Scarlet Bug got me out. They took care of us before taking care of the akuma. We’re all ok.”
“Don’t mind me, was held captive by my own sister.” Alya called, causing the two to pull apart. “But, gosh. I’m exhausted. Hey Luka, why don’t you take Adrien home? Marinette is staying with me tonight and Nino still has to finish his knightly duties and walk me home.”
Adrien couldn’t believe it. Actually, lies, he totally could. Even after the evening she had, Alya was still pulling matchmaking tricks.
“Is that ok?” Luka asked, gently taking his hand. All Adrien could do was nod.
With teasing smiles and promises to call the minute they got home, they split up, Luka and Adrien heading to the metro.
“Are you sure you’re ok? Should we call your mom?”
“Most of the Italian diplomates and such are at this party for the World Cup, at least the ones not accompanying the team. Mama already warned me she wouldn’t be able to look at her phone. Though I guess news of the attack had to of gone out by now.” And Adrien would be able to answer that, if he realised his phone had died. He also remembered that he left his bag at Alya’s, since the plan was to go back to her place and metro home with Marinette. “Whoops.”
“I’ll walk you back to your place and make sure you can get inside. My heart still feels like it hasn’t stopped since I saw the akuma attack.” Luka confessed.
“Hey,” Adrien put his hand on Luka’s arm, “I’m ok. If you tried to do something, you’d be like Nino. Whatever happened to him. But I’m fine, promise.”
The train arrived and they boarded, noticing how it was slightly packed. No seats were available together so the made for a corner they could stand near in. Adrien had just turned, mouth open to ask something when the train jolted as it left, causing Luka to stumble. He caught himself on the wall, boxing Adrien in.
His eyes darted to Luka’s lips, the silver snake bites begging him to do something irresponsible, but he resisted.
“Sorry. Are you ok?”
“Your starting to sound like a prince who’s seen a princess in her underthings.” Adrien joked, his voice soft as Luka hadn’t moved yet.
“More into princes anyway.”
“Oh look,” Adrien said, trying hard and surly failing to not turn red. “another thing we have in common.”
Luka’s quirked lips and small bite to his lip played with Adrien’s heart. Maybe it had been Alya’s knight comments, but he was starting to feel like a prince from a fairy tail who was trying not to show how in love with the bard he was. Not that he was at the love stages, he’d barely gotten to ask Luka out.
They arrived at Adrien’s apartment just as an Embassy car pulled up and deposited his worried mother, who scooped him up in a tight hug, words of worry and thanking gods in Italian rushing from her. Once again, the image of his mother, a queen, thanking the brave bard for rescuing her son the prince.
Adrien had a feeling he was really tired.
“You’re taking the embassy car home. I won’t hear of anything else. Wait here.” His mother ordered, leaving them alone again as she went to go talk to the driver.
“Thanks for walking me home. And giving up your shifts, though you so didn’t have to.”
“I don’t mind. If I heard about this after I think I would have hated myself. I’m just glad you’re ok.” He took Adrien’s hand again.
“I’m really ok, I promise.” Adrien said, squeezing.
“Caro.” His mother called.
“I think they’re ready for you.”
Then, Luka lifted his hand and pressed a gentle kiss onto his knuckles. “I’ll call when I get home ok?”
“Ok.” Adrien breathed. He watched Luka thank his mother and wave at him before climbing into the car. He watched it pull away as his mother approached and put an arm around him. “Whoa.”
“I take it that was Luka?” he mindlessly nodded. “He’s very cute. You seem to of gotten much closer all of a sudden.”
“Something like that. I know this might sound weird, but today was something out of a fairy tale.” It felt like the only way he could describe it. A fairy tale. Though the ‘dragon’ he could have done without.

↷ SUMMARY ↶
Last day of training calls for celebration for everyone’s hard work, so it’s barbeque time!
“All right, meat!”
“I’m starving!”
While the boys freshened up after practice matches, the managers were already on the move to prepare for the barbeque. Since there were quite a lot of people, the coaches decided to held it on the backyard of the gym, where the sharp hill stood just beside it. The coaches helped setting up the grills while the managers divided to cater different things.
Yachi decided she would get the utensils they needed; paper plates, chopsticks, paper cups, trays for rice balls, and other things. Shimizu would cover for the rice ball making, Yukie and Eri were in charge on cutting the vegetables in bite-size, Kaori and Mako would clean the vegetables before it was cut.
Meanwhile, you’re in charge of preparing the condiments and sauces, unwrapping the meat cuts, and arranged them on a bigger plate. Aside from that you had to make sure the meats searing on the grills weren’t charred.
“[Name]-chan, please replace me for cutting the onions,” Eri sobbed, reaching out to you with grabby hands.
“Alright, senpai,” you giggled in reply because Eri was clearly needing a break and watching the meats seared was a great break for her. Quickly, you stood on her place and started slicing the tear-induced-menaces after washing your hands.
It didn’t take long for you to suffer the same fate as the Ubugawa’s manager–the first seven slices went through without a hitch, but when you reached the tenth your eyes started to sting and blurry from the pain. Then tears began trailing down your cheeks, and you wiped it you’re your shirt sleeve.
“D-Don’t cry, [Name]-san!!” you looked up, seeing Hinata with his place face quivering on his feet. “W-what should I do!?”
“It’s fine, Shoyo-kun, it’s just the onions,” you sniffled pointed towards the bowl full of it. “It hurts my eyes.”
“I can take your place, Otohaku-chan!” Lev popped up beside Hinata.
“Instead of cutting the onions, you’ll chop your fingers off,” Yaku deadpanned before offering. “Here, let me do it.”
“No, it’s alright, Yaku-san,” you shook your head. “It’s time for you to have a break, not working.”
Being persistent sometimes has it’s perks, it took numbers of rejection to finally have Yaku gave up. You knew he was just trying to help, but you didn’t want to rob his time relaxing. When all the preparations were done, the boys were already surrounding the grills with hungry faces. Coach Nekomata gave them a light speech along with praises for their hard work over the week, and they dived to grab on the meat straight from the grill.
“THANKS FOR THE FOOD!”
Just like Kaori, you brought a plate of rice balls to offer and managed to witnessed Yukie’s enormous appetite. She practically inhaled four rice balls in one go and you’re not the only who was dumbfounded from it.
.
.
Konoha and Komi almost had their souls went to heaven from the frightening circle Nishinoya, Tanaka, and Taketora made. Well, they did elbow each other to encourage one another getting close or at least having a talk with Shimizu. The girl walked pass them holding a paper plate with food–looking extremely gorgeous and she didn’t even try.
“That was scary,” Konoha muttered underneath his breath. The three finally stopped because of Karasuno and Nekoma’s captain scolded them–the three immediately shrunk.
“They really had their guard up, huh,” Komi added, feeling his energy drained from such a scary encounter.
“Uhm, excuse me,” the two turned to look over their shoulder and that’s when they noticed–Karasuno’s other first year manager who’s Bokuto constantly talking about. The owl captain wouldn’t shut up about her much to their annoyance and now they knew why.
“Would you like some rice ball?”
“Sure,” Konoha replied dumbly.
“I’ll take two,” Komi followed with a daze. You placed one on Konoha’s empty paper plate and two for Komi upon his request. Smiling at them, you proceeded to excuse yourself so you could offer to someone else.
Following your figure dazedly, they noticed how the light shone even brighter and basked you in a beautiful glow. That’s when they thought of a conclusion.
A goddess just graces us mere mortals! They screamed in their head.
.
.
You tried to calm Yachi down from her traumatizing experience being surrounded by absurdly tall boys (“Titans, [Name]-chan! Titans!”). Thankfully, all of them were nice enough to made room so your friend could reach for some meat. Yachi almost cried in happiness from the real taste of meat.
From the sidelines, Shimizu and the other managers were watching the two of you while talking about the boys sometimes.
“How much are you going to eat?” Kaori questioned because Yukie was having a ridiculous amount of food towering on her plate and she just kept munching away without care.
“The third-years in Karasuno all seems pretty mature,” Mako commented.
“Our ace is weak-willed, though,” Shimizu smiled sheepishly.
“What? Really?” Eri replied in surprise. “Even though he looks that scary?”
“Though, I think that’s still better than our simpleton ace,” Kaori commented. “Still,”
Their eyes were directed towards where the said simpleton ace was standing and placing meat until it towered on your empty plate.
“Eat more, [Name]-chan! Or you won’t get even taller!” he stated.
“And eat more vegetables!” Kuroo added, placing cabbages and carrots to your plate, adding even more food.
“Have some rice balls, too.” Somehow, even Akaashi participated in this whole fiasco and put a rice ball onto your plate. Now, there’s a ridiculous amount of food on your plate.
“…I can’t eat this much,” you commented, staring at the food filling your plate.
“Nonsense, I don’t see you eat anything even when the others are,” Akaashi stated. “You’re too busy handling other things nonstop.”
“Have a break will you,” Kuroo patted your back. “Everyone’s having fun and you should too.”
“Have more meat, [Name]-san!” Hinata said.
“You can have my share, Otohaku-chan!” Lev followed and you immediately shook your head.
“At least he and Akaashi took care of our baby manager well,” Kaori sighed in relief.
“[Name]-chan is close with Fukurodani’s captain and setter, huh? Even Nekoma’s captain,” Mako giggled. “She’s drawing everyone in.”
“Well, it’s rare for a first-year to be as tall as her,” Eri grinned. “The boys are especially poles so it’s probably great not to strain their neck once in a while from looking down.”
“Karasuno’s pretty lucky to have her, huh?” Yukie said after swallowing her food.
“Yeah, we are,” Shimizu smiled.
.
.
“Did you have fun?” Sawamura asked you when you’re helping other managers to clean up the remaining plates left behind on the table along with other scraps littering around. He picked up a few paper cups and placed it into the trash bin.
“Definitely,” you answered without hesitation. “Everyone’s so nice, it’s probably the most fun I’ve had.”
“Thank goodness, then,” he gave you a smile.
“I’m really glad I joined the volleyball club,” you commented, grinning.
“And we glad to have you here,” the captain chuckled and replied.
Everything was over by the time the sun started to sink into the horizon–time truly flew by when you enjoyed it. Since Miyagi was quite a distance from Saitama, they needed to depart first or they would be back extremely late at night. Yukie and Eri were fake-crying and joking about refusing to let you go–in the end, you’re all exchanging numbers so you could keep in touch.
“Did you have fun, Otohaku-san?”
“Coincidentally, you asked the same question as my captain, Akaashi-san.” The Fukurodani setter, like before, helping you on carrying the extra luggage in hand although you did tell him it’s only until you reached the stairs. “And to answer, I am. These one week of training camp is fun. Somehow, I don’t want this to be over.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll meet again,” Akaashi replied. “At the Spring Interhigh.”
“I’m sure we will, Akaashi-san.” you smiled. “And thank you for helping me with luggage.”
“[Name]-chan!!” Bokuto bounded over with a grin plastered on his face. “We’ll be waiting at the nationals!”
“Karasuno, Bokuto-san. Otohaku-san doesn’t play volleyball.” Akaashi deadpanned.
“Just agree with me once, Akaashi!”
“Well, whatever he said,” Kuroo piped up, approaching the three of you. “Made sure your team go to the nationals so we could meet again and make the battle came true.”
“I’ll do my best, Kuroo-san.” Then Kuroo reached out to ruffle your hair, it’s been a while since he did that and you weren’t even going to lie about enjoying it. The cat captain was similar to an older brother now.
“Off you go then, [Name],” he removed his hand from your head. “And don’t miss me.”
“How could I when I have your phone number, Kuroo-san?” you snickered. “You’re probably going to bombard me with chemistry puns at 10pm.”
“Then, I’m gonna call you every day so you won’t have to deal with Kuroo!” Bokuto declared before laughing victoriously.
“Please block his number immediately, Otohaku-san,” Akaashi stated. “Or you won’t be getting any sleep. His talking is endless.”
“Why, Akaashi!?” the said boy whined.
“Aside from that, be careful on your way home,” Akaashi decided to ignore the captain and gave you a small smile.
You returned his smile. “Will do, Akaashi-san.”
With that, the whole week of summer training camps has come to an end. The whole team watched you guys drove away into the other way back to Miyagi.
.
.
“You have a match tomorrow, don’t you?” former Coach Ukai questioned, brows creased from the insistence of your combi. “That’s probably enough, then!”
“One more! Just one more!” Hinata pleaded.
“We’ll finish after this one!” Kageyama added.
Two days of practicing to prepare for the preliminaries, just a day before the match Sawamura dismissed them early to get some rest. Since it would be impossible to use the gym unless getting an earful from him, Kageyama and Hinata needed to look for another place. Former Coach Ukai lent them the court only for a bit, just until the others who wants to practice comes.
And you were there to hold a leash if they’re being stubborn or something.
“This is the last, alright?” you scolded the two. “We shouldn’t bother the others who wants to practice here. And you should rest before the match.”
Thankfully the older man letting them had the court just one more time and you couldn’t help but feeling grateful of it. You sighed before turning to face former Coach Ukai and bowed down. “On their behalf, I apologize.”
“It’s fine.” Former Coach Ukai dismissed it. “Their eagerness is a great thing, but even eagerness isn’t going to magically give them energy. It would be bad if they burnt out even before the game started.”
“[Name]-san! Can you throw us the ball?” Hinata called out.
In the end, the two managed to successfully killed the quick–and sure enough, it also impressed former Coach Ukai which added more reassurance that your team would be more than okay to face the entire preliminaries and became champions.

Kuroko:
Tumblr media
Being in a relationship with Kuroko was filled with nothing but tranquility and love. The two of you rarely had any type of conflict with each other, but one very urgent problem you’d always had in mind was the lack of communication. Because your boyfriend was so silent and barely complained whenever something was amiss, you tended to misunderstand each other…
One morning after you’d entered Seirin’s school building, you immediately caught a glimpse of your blue-haired boyfriend, and just as you were about to go up to him and greet him with your usual hug, he wordlessly turned his back to you and disappeared in the crowd. His behavior was quite unusual, but you figured that he just didn’t see you and went on with your day.
Unfortunately, the young man kept showing you the cold shoulder on that day, and by the end of his team’s basketball training, he’d even gone back home before you.
“Did something between you two happen?” asked Kagami as soon as he saw your dejected reaction to the unexpected news. Your grip on your school bag’s rims tightened and you simply shook your head.
“Not that I’m aware of anything…”
“Then why don’t you just ask him?”
His teammates stared daggers at the tall young man who had once again said something insensitive, but to you, it was a simple summary of the constant problem between your lover and yourself, so you couldn’t help but giggle at his question and nod.
——
Just where have you hidden yourself Tetsu?!
Annoyance had distorted your usually calm facial features and was chasing away any of your classmates that hoped to approach you for whatever reasons. After Kagami had given you the necessary push you needed, you made it your mission to find your lover and confront him once and for all, but he was nowhere to be found. No matter who you asked, where you went, what you did, it was as if he never came to school. At times such as these, his low presence proved to be pretty useful and a damn nightmare for you, but you stayed vigilant and even decided to make use of some…unexpected tactics.
During the second break, you sprinted to your lover’s classroom, knowing fully well that he was already gone, and called for his partner, who only very reluctantly agreed to accompany you during your search. The plan you’d forged relied entirely on Kagami’s strong presence that - according to his teammates - was so strong that even the people who saw him daily couldn’t help but stare at him. You knew that Kuroko was more or less immune to this and preferred to look down at his book, so you were positive that with this plan you’d find the odd one out of the crowd pretty easily.
Luckily for you, the plan was a success and after just a couple of minutes you’d caught sight of the familiar blue hair, but when you locked eyes with your loved one, a sharp pain ran through your chest. Kuroko looked heartbroken and had to bite his lip to hide his anger and tears.
“(Y/N), this is your chance! Go! Run!”
The unexpected encouragement from the man next to you managed to wake you up from your trance and not even a second later you were running after your lover. Fortunately for you, he wasn’t that quick and on top of that, you were convinced that he ran extra slower than usual because somewhere deep inside of him he wanted to talk to you as well.
“(Y/N)…I-”
“We can’t continue like this Tetsu,” you began and intended to take a small breather before you continued, but the anxious face of your counterpart made you reconsider, “what I mean to say is, that we can’t ignore our constant misunderstandings due to miscommunication. I love you Tetsuya and whenever I am with you everything is nearly perfect, but we need to do something about your aversion of expressing your opinion and my reluctance to speak up about it.”
You couldn’t blame him for being so surprised that he couldn’t answer instantly since you surprised even yourself with how direct you were. Just as you were about to break the uncomfortable silence between you two, Kuroko unexpectedly wrapped his arms around you in a hug.
“Thank god…I thought you wanted to leave me for Kagami-kun.”
“Excuse me, what? Why would I-” you stopped for a moment and remembered the scene he saw just a couple of minutes ago before you corrected him, “…I needed his help to find you, since all of my earlier attempts were futile against the legendary Phantom Sixth man, you know?”
And with that small joke, you both chuckled, kissed each other, and decided to spent the rest of the break hand-in-hand, while you resolved the small thorn in your relationship.
Kise:
Tumblr media
Being Kise’s lover was pretty tiresome and restricting. Since he was a famous model a lot of rules had to be followed by not only him but you as well.
Any selfies you took are not to be shared with anyone and not to be published. Bragging about him as your boyfriend was out of the question. Public dates? I think not.
When his manager had first thrown all of these at you, you were pretty stomped and ready to burst with anger, but he stopped you and after your talk, Kise reassured you that you would still do the majority of the things “normal” couples do, but you’d simply have to be more careful and aware of your surroundings than others. You trusted him of course and he didn’t lie, in fact, he made an enormous effort to provide you with a proper love life, one that you deserved. Much to your surprise, everything was working out just fine and you got used to the abnormalities of some situations pretty quickly, but as we all know life can rarely be filled with nothing but sunshine and rainbows…
-` EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MODEL №1 KISE RYOUTA ´-
That was the headline of one of the many magazines your boyfriend was featured in. You always made sure to show your support for his career by buying almost every issue that had a section dedicated to your blond lover, that and the fact that the photographers and designers always made him look hotter than he already was. With a big grin on your face, you browsed the magazine until you found the corresponding pages and began reading yet another interview.
At first, the questions were pretty standard and tame, asking the young model what his future plans were, how he manages school, basketball club, and modeling without being stressed out at all, and many more similar questions such as these. Being his significant other, you caught a few lies of his that he had to make up in order to keep your relationship a secret and even though it didn’t sit entirely right with you, you brushed it off since you knew that he couldn’t help it. With mixed feelings, you read on until one particular question and answer caught your eye.
-` Q: A lot of your female fans have been constantly speculating about what type of boyfriend you’d make, what’s your take on that subject?
-` A: (laughs) Well you see, I hate to break it to everyone, but I like the type of women that don’t tie me down. I just can’t imagine myself being with the same person every single day, it’d be quite suffocating, you know?
You stared at that answer for a while, hoping that the words would just merge into something that didn’t sound so…ruthless, but to no avail. Just as you were about to continue your lecture, the front door to your apartment opened and the familiar voice of your lover echoed, filling your home with more life than before. While the blond removed his shoes and jacket you quickly hid away the magazine and forced yourself to smile, hoping that he wouldn’t notice…
——
“You damn idiot, what were you thinking?!”
“Oh (Y/N)…what do you even see in him?”
“I have never been more pissed off to be in the same team as you…”
The moment Kise had entered the gym to participate in today’s training all of his teammates had surrounded him and had begun reprimanding him for something he couldn’t quite understand because of how chaotic everyone was. It took a while, but when they became more or less calm he used to chance to find out just what’s got them so pissed off.
“Isn’t it obvious you imbecile?! That over the top answer of yours is what we’re so mad about”
“Kasamatsu-senpai I can’t quite follow…what answer are you referring to?”
After being kicked down by the shorter man and lectured yet another time, Kise finally understood just what this fuss was about. You’d been quite out of it since his latest interview got published, so the guys decided to find out what had you so bothered and the answer was, of course, Kise…who else?
“B-But I didn’t mean it! It was just for show an–”
“Does (Y/N) know?” interrupted Moriyama with an unusually serious tone. Your lover intended to answer fully confident that you were aware, but a small voice inside of his mind stopped him in his tracks. How were you supposed to know that he didn’t mean it when he never explained himself? What if the reason you’d been so absentminded these past few days was that you were planning on leaving him?
N-No…I can’t let that happen…i-if we break up then what am I–
“Excuse me, is Kise here?”
At the unexpected sound of your voice all of the members instantly shut up, turning to you, but before anyone could answer you, the blond took off sprinting right towards you and wrapping his muscular arms around your body.
“Please forgive me (Y/N)-cchi, I…I figured we’d been over this and that you know that no matter what I say to the press, I never really mean it. It’s all supposed to be a façade to make me more attractive to the public, b-but you know me, right? The real, insecure, weak, and ambitious me…the one that’s no good without you…”
Even if he’d taken you by surprise with his sudden hug, his words rendered you pretty much immobile and left you with no choice but to listen to his desperate apology. He held you tighter and buried his face in the crack of your neck. The moment you felt something wet drip down on your clothing, you wrapped your arms around him protectively, gently caressing his head, and kissing his temple all the while he whispered one apology after the other, begging you to never leave his side.
“I won’t ever leave you, Kise…I promise”
Midorima:
Tumblr media
“…and with that, we’re coming to today’s last and unfortunately most unluckiest signs of all…Cancer!”
At the sudden announcement, Midorima flinched, grip tightening on his iPod, as he continued listening to his daily horoscope. His sign being the unluckiest out of all was quite the rarity and that alone was worrisome, but the fact that today’s misfortune was predicted to be in his love life made the man the more afraid. Usually, he’d ignore any prognosis that went beyond his career, but the moment you had become his girlfriend, Midorima couldn’t help but lend an ear every time the presenter of his favorite show mentioned the word love.
Your lover’s flame for you has been near extinction, I suggest breaking up with them before they do, or else this pain will haunt you for eternity…
With heavy steps, the green-haired man made his way to his school, lucky item in hand and a never before experienced fear deeply rooted in his heart. If possible he’d try to avoid you as much as possible today, so that you couldn’t break things off with him. He was aware that his behavior was quite over the top, but that was his way to cope with the anxiety of losing you - his most important person. In Midorima’s eyes this was a solid plan, but putting it into action was harder than expected.
Every time you jogged up to him with your angelic smile, your big and beautiful eyes that sparkled the moment you saw him, the energetic way you waved to your boyfriend when you spotted him across the hallway were so adorable and heart-warming that whenever he had to act extra cold towards you, it felt like his heart was being torn apart anew every single time. While he was beating himself up over his behavior, you simply shrugged it off and figured that he was on his usual tsundere trip for some reason and decided to ask him about it after basketball practice.
“Shin-chan sure is acting weird today, huh?” asked Takao with a hint of amusement in his voice as he sat down next to you on a bench in the courtyard. You simply looked up at him and nod with resigned smile on your face as you answered: “I’m somehow used to his antics, but something must’ve happened for him to act so…distant.”
The boy next to you studied your expression and despite his usual enjoyment of watching a misunderstanding between the two of you unfold, he could see how much the green-haired man’s behavior was weighing on you, so he broke his silence and told you about Midormia’s plan that he’d schemed following today’s horoscope.
——
“Midorima Shintarou, we need to talk…now!”
Your loud and sudden order startled the young man in gym clothes, who was mere movements away from throwing his umpteenth three-pointer, as well as his teammates. If it weren’t for the serious tone in your voice, he would’ve come up with some kind of excuse to dodge the upcoming conversation.
Now that the two of you were outside of the gym you didn’t beat around the bush and got straight to the point: “Are you seriously avoiding me all day because of Oha Asa’s words? Is that how little you believe in me and my feelings for you?” Your boyfriend never quite knew how to deal with such straightforwardness and seeing how with each question you uttered, the tears in the corners of your eyes grew, pushed him even further into a corner until he couldn’t handle it anymore and just needed to shut you up. Out of nowhere Midorima took a tight hold of your shoulders, seizing your frantic movements, and pressed his lips firmly to yours, kissing you in the process.
“…now that I finally have your attention, allow me to explain myself, will you?” he asked and waited for your nod before he continued “Look…I know I overreacted and to be honest, my behavior bothered me more than you think. I was just…j-just so afraid to lose you. Up until now everything Oha Asa said came true, s-so–”
Before he could finish his sentence, it was your turn to kiss him on the lips and use his moment of confusion to stop the train of negative thoughts that were about to overwhelm him. “I love you Shintarou…more than any horoscope could ever hope to calculate and sure, every time you listen to this show it all comes true, but did you forget that my sign is on that show as well?”
Your sudden question caught him a little of guard, but the moment you pulled something small out of your pocket he couldn’t help but smile to himself as a light blush spread across his cheeks.
“Unfortunately for you, today is my lucky day and your beloved presenter advised me to be more assertive than what I’m used to, and show my lover just how much he means to me.”
Aomine:
Tumblr media
With quick steps, you neared the basketball club’s gym while frantically looking around for your boyfriend, who’d once again decided to ditch today’s training and laze around somewhere.
“Captain, we might have a problem!” you shouted out the moment you entered the building, ready to break the unpleasant news to the young man in glasses, who looked surprisingly relaxed, even though one of his best players was missing yet again. But before you could even say anything he simply put his hand up, motioning you to look behind him with his head, and there you saw the wanted man, crouched down while reading something.
With a heavy sigh, you joined Imayoshi and Wakamatsu, who was looking at the power forward with hopeless and annoyed expressions. After explaining to them that you couldn’t find him at his usual spots, you asked how they got him to join practice that quick.
“Oh you know…the usual” the blond said as he tapped a few times on his mobile phone, searching for something, and the moment he found it, he showed you the typical photo with which they always managed to catch Aomine: one of his favorite gravure magazines being held above a candle’s flame. You eyed the image a tad longer than what the men next to you were used to and then replied drily: “I see.”
The two players you were standing next to, were quite surprised by your reaction and couldn’t tear their eyes from your back as you walked towards the bench where their coach and manager were seated. They wanted to brush it off at first but the moment you had sat yourself down, your sad expression managed to guilt-trip them to such an extent that they immediately walked to the dark-skinned young man to lecture him.
“Aomine, you idiot, stop reading these things already!”
Said man didn’t even flinch at the sudden scream from the blond and continued looking through his magazine. Wakamatsu was already agitated enough and ready to throw punches at his sitting teammate, but the captain stopped him with an unobtrusive head-shake and took his chance not short after: “Ya see…your cute girlfriend’s over ‘ere and she looks mighty disappointed at the fact that ‘er boyfriend gives some random women more love ‘n attention than ya give ‘er. If ya keep that up, then who knows what could happen.”
It didn’t take much to annoy or upset your boyfriend and if you were as tactful as Imayoshi, you could do it whenever you felt like it, but this time he intended to make the man before him aware of what seemed to be a minor problem.
The two of them watched as Aomine finally closed his magazine and stood up, a terrifying glare fixated on the wall before him, and hissed out: “My relationship with (Y/N) has nothing to do with you, so don’t even butt your noses where they don’t belong.” He turned and just as he was about to leave and enter the practice match, he stood beside the man with glasses and stared at him with the same amount of bloodlust he had whenever he faced a strong opponent, and whispered: “Call her cute one more time and see what happens, captain”
——
What the hell is going on?
With a furious expression and gritted teeth, Aomine’s eyes followed your frantic movements in annoyance. He watched how you held Sakurai’s hands and whispered something to him to calm him down, how Wakamatsu ruffled your hair as thanks for bringing him a bottle of his favorite drink and a towel, and how Susa and Imayoshi patted your back while praising you. Today was the first time he actually noticed this, but now everything was making sense.
Since the beginning of this week, Momoi told him that she’d be away for two weeks and couldn’t manage the team in that timeframe. Her childhood friend wasn’t interested, so he didn’t ask any further details such as why she going away or who’d take her place for the time being, but now he wished he would’ve.
During her absence, he didn’t receive any of those dreadful SMS and for the first few days, he was living his life, skipping every single practice day. He did ask you a couple of times whether you wanted to ditch your class and come hang out with him, but he got rejected pretty quickly. Additionally, he rarely asked you out himself so the lack of messages from you wasn’t surprising to him, of course until he heard some of the substitute players comment something about how well you were doing your job as temporary manager.
“So that’s why you were so busy, huh?” he asked in his typical monotone voice the moment you had come back to the bench where he and the coach had taken place. Without sparing him even a single glance you took your clipboard and began explaining something to the older man. Seeing how you ignored him, paired with your cold attitude made Aomine involuntarily remember his captain’s words.
If ya keep that up, then who knows what could happen.
Your conversation with the coach was quickly wrapped up and not soon after just the two of you were left sitting on the bench. Your boyfriend’s deep blue eyes glanced briefly at you and observed how you were writing something in a small pink notebook that most likely belonged to Momoi. He never considered the fact that you would actually lose interest in him or perhaps even break up with him, but your recent behavior change matched exactly that and it scared him more than he let on.
The moment you finished writing and intended to pack everything up, a big hand took a gentle hold of your wrist. Slightly startled and taken aback you looked at the man beside you, who was covering his lower face area as he murmured something that only you managed to hear and understand.
Please don’t go…d-don’t leave me
A small smile slowly adorned your lips as you took his hand in yours, intertwining your fingers, and squeezing it ever so slightly. You figured that the reason he was hiding his face was because of the blush that had painted his cheeks in a shade of dark red. An unusual but very welcome sight as well as a great reward for the plan the entire team had come up with alongside you. The goal? Teaching your lover a small lesson that he’s surely not forgetting that quick.
Mission accomplished…
Murasakibara:
Tumblr media
“Hey Atsushi, my friend told me they’d be opening a new store in–“
“Mmm…I don’t wanna go (Y/N)-chin”
You were stunned at the sudden refusal of your boyfriend even before you’d finished your sentence and couldn’t help but giggle to yourself as you looked at his slightly annoyed face.
Of course, he’d say that…
And with that prompt rejection, the conversation between you two died down and you wordlessly continued watching the movie you’d put on for tonight, while gently caressing the purple head of the large man who was using your thighs as a pillow.
——
“Eh? You rejected (Y/N)’s invitation again?” asked the black-haired young man while he handed his gigantic friend a tissue for his sticky fingers. With a slightly annoyed glare, Murasakibara snatched the handkerchief from him and hurriedly removed the honey residuals from the snacks he had finished a couple of minutes ago, before answering: “Of course I would…I’m not in the mood to go shopping for hours in this heat.”
The man’s laziness never failed to surprise Himuro everyone who has ever talked to him was aware of his quirks and despite it all, no one has ever left his side. The same goes for you as well. Since the first time you’d seen him, your heart already belonged to him. It was easier to pursue him than you’d expected since his team liked you very much and always helped you out by telling you about his schedule or when he’d come to practice. He was pretty cute once you got to know him better and unbeknownst to you, he had also fallen in love with everything about you. Your smile, the adorable way you tried to follow his basketball practice, the way you panicked when he told you that he didn’t like the type of candy you’d picked out, and everything else about you made his heart thump hard against his chest.
“You know Atsushi…if you keep your indifferent attitude up, your relationship might end pretty soon.”
“W-What do you mean…?”
With a perplexed expression on his face, Himuro took a glance at his friend who had panic written all over him, and reluctantly explained how you could feel neglected by him, or even think of leaving him because he seemingly doesn’t want to spend time with you. The purple-haired young man opened his mouth, wanting to protest but anything he said was immediately rebutted by his friend who told him that he was the wrong person to tell this to, and with that, Murasakibara sprinted out of the room. His destination: your home.
——
You were just out of the shower and preparing yourself to go to bed, when suddenly the doorbell starts ringing furiously, scaring you in the process. With a thumping heart and silent steps, you made your way to your door and took a glance at your peephole, needing less than a second to recognize just who had decided to spontaneously visit you this late at night.
“Atsushi, what are–”
“I’m sorry (Y/N)-chin, please don’t leave me! I-I promise I will go to that store reopening with you a-and to any other event you’d like, I’ll even do it without you having to buy me over with sweets, just–”
Thrown aback as you were, you took a tight hold of Murasakibara’s arms, squeezing them while you screamed at him to hold on and stop talking. Despite your reassuring words it took him a good while to calm down, so you made use of it and prepared some soft drinks, and put a couple of his favorite snacks in a rotating multi bowl set. After putting everything down on the small table in your living room, you got your boyfriend his favorite blanket, covering him with it, and finally sat down next to him.
“Now then, I’m almost afraid to ask you this, but…why are you pleading with me to not leave you?”
With his big and almost puppy-like eyes, he looked at you and asked with a slightly trembling voice: “S-So you really w-want to l-leave me?”
“Heavens no! Who even gave you that idea?”
The moment these few words left your lips, the tension finally left the young man’s body and he slumped back on your couch with a relieved sigh, whispering a silent thank god before massaging his closed eyes. You had never seen your lover being as worried as tonight and you figured that whatever has been bothering him must’ve been quite serious, and that made you in fact even more curious than before. Despite that, you figured you’d wait for him to start his explanation, or at least that was what you’d planned, but after a couple of minutes of nothing but silence, you decided to speak up and reassure him first.
“I’m not quite sure what happened, but it seems like you’re feeling bad for refusing my invite from some days ago, and well…I was kinda disappointed about not being able to go with you there, but I’ve known you for so long now and truth be told, I was prepared for such an answer so I’m not pissed off or anything, you know? You’re just the type of person to prefer staying indoors while lazing around…that’s just how you are and how I love you, so…”
You got embarrassed after a while and the young man’s missing reactions didn’t make it any better, so you eventually stopped mid-sentence and called out to him.
Silence.
“Atsushi…?”
You put your hand on his shoulder and gently shook him, causing his arm with which he was covering his eyes to fall to the side, revealing his slightly puffy eyes and sleeping face.
D-Did he…fall asleep…?
Who would’ve thought that your reassurance alone would have such an impact on him and cause him to fall asleep?
You giggled to yourself and gently caressed some strands of his hair away from his face, giving him a soft kiss on his cheek as you silently wished him a pleasant nap. A few seconds passed during which you contemplated whether you should go to your room or snuggle up to him, you picked the latter and as carefully as possible, leaned your head on his shoulder, closed your eyes, and missed the small smile that adorned Murasakibara’s lips.
Akashi:
Tumblr media
Akashi usually isn’t one to get jealous of other people, since he is quite confident that there is no one better suited for you but him. And yet whenever he sees how you talk to Mayuzumi he can’t help but feel a tight pain in his chest and notice how his mood instantly drops. He’d immediately turn away from the sight of the two of you and go somewhere else, preferably the gym where he can either let his frustrations out on the ball or on some of the unmotivated basketball club members. When you were close to him during one of his bad days he was prone to behaving rather rude and harsh and even though he regrets it seconds after opening his mouth he just can’t stop himself. One day though, he truly lost it.
Everything was seemingly going well and then he saw both Mayuzumi and you come in the gym together, hand in hand, laughing, and worst of it all: you were blushing. The red-haired young man watched how his upperclassman helped you sit down on the bench and the way you two looked at each other made the captain feel sick. That’s when a certain thought entered his mind.
What if (Y/N) is planning on breaking up with me for….
While you laughed alongside the older member of the basketball club, you noticed out of the corner of your eyes the way Akashi approached you two and immediately sprung up to calm him down. “S-Sei, please calm yourself down!” you pleaded as you held onto his wrists, but no matter what you said he wasn’t listening, he only had eyes for the man behind you.
Out of desperation you wrapped your arms around the slightly trembling body of your boyfriend and began whispering how nothing was going on between the two of you, how Mayuzumi had only helped you reach the gym since you had sprained your ankle on the way, and how he had teased you for loving the captain too much. As if released from some sort of spell, the young man came back to his senses and returned your embrace in slight confusion. While you were quick to forgive and forget the sudden snap of your boyfriend, the grey-haired man behind you wasn’t in the mood to just forget how the first-year would’ve stabbed him with a ballpen if it weren’t for you. Luckily the other main team members came to calm their teammate down, while you excused yourself, took Akashi by the hand, and went out for a walk to help him calm down.
——
Holding tightly onto your boyfriend’s hand you dragged him off to a more remote area where you could properly talk to each other and resolve any type of doubts that seemed to sprout inside of his already restless mind as a sudden and unexpected whisper caught you off guard. You halted mid-step, turning to the young man behind you, and asked him to repeat what he’d just said.
After a short moment of reluctance, he nodded and did as asked. “I’m sorry for losing myself back there.” His sudden apology caught you quite off guard and made you forget your initial plan. The Akashi you knew rarely showed such enormous remorse for his actions, he might have finally found inner peace with himself and his insecurities, but that didn’t mean that he was now a completely changed man who’d thrown his entire pride away. Not being able to hold back your curiosity, you asked why he felt the need to apologize.
“The way I was ready to lash out at someone older than me, in the same way, I did with Kagami back then was uncalled for…not only that but your expression,” he paused, softly caressing your cheek and continued with a silent voice “that fearful expression you had when you saw me…I-I don’t want to see it ever again.”
Now I get it…
A sad smile adorned your lips as you squeezed his hand tighter. You were secretly thankful for his small outburst right now because it showed you not only that he indeed loved you as much as he usually told you, but also that despite his perfectionism he was very much flawed. He was afraid of losing you and equally afraid of you hating him for expressing these worries. Without saying anything you wrapped your arms around him in a hug and held him tightly as soon as he’d returned your embrace.
“Seijuro…please don’t try to tackle every worry you have on your own. That’s why we are a couple, right? Anything that bothers you, no matter how trivial or serious it is, please share it with me instead of tackling that burden on your own, ok..?”
His sharp yet beautiful eyes looked directly into your own before he leaned his forehead on your shoulder and murmured: “I know, it’s just…I’m still not used to having someone so dependable as you by my side, offering me so much support that I don’t know what to do with it.”
You giggled at his statement and kissed his head, thankful that you had more or less resolved one part of his issues, but more than anything you were happy that from now on he’d involve you more in his worries and problems.
Takao:
Tumblr media
Everyone from Shuutoku warned you multiple times that being lovers with Takao would cause you to have severe trust issues and you didn’t believe them at first, but after a couple of weeks, you finally understood their warnings. The lively young man was surprisingly a jokester and tended to take certain things not serious enough for your preference, but since it was a part of his personality, that you’d fallen in love with, you decided to overlook it for the majority of the time.
Usually, his jokes were kinda misplaced and sometimes even more sympathy-inducing than fun, but they never failed to make you crack even the smallest of smiles. But lately, though his jokes started focusing on love and were constantly dealing with the topic of breakup or cheating and it made you quite anxious and hurt that he took these two so lightly without considering your feelings.
Day after day you put up with them until you just couldn’t take it anymore and interrupted him, saying that he should just stop talking for a moment. You were so agitated that you failed to notice his taken aback expression.
“Hey (Y/N)-chan, you do know that I’m just joking, right? There’s no need for you to take it seriously!”
There he goes again with the same excuse…
The young man attempted to take your hand in his, an usual gesture he made every time he upset you, but right now this was the last thing you needed. When his slender fingers brushed yours, you slapped his hand away.
“Not this time Kazu-chan…I’m sorry” you whispered and hurried off, leaving your boyfriend behind who was blown away by your reaction.
——
A few days passed since your little outburst and you’d been avoiding Takao ever since, afraid of being confronted with what you’d told him. You felt bad of course for treating him like that, but you were just not ready to talk to him yet and needed some time to come to terms with your thoughts first.
“What’s with you two always gluing yourselves on me whenever you have some kind of problem?” asked the green-haired young man who you’d forced to stay by your side since then. You responded with a giggle and told him that thanks to his confident behavior and direct words you felt placid and could sort your thoughts in peace. He simply sighed and looked at his lucky item for today, a silver ring with a small green jewel, which he’d once again gotten from his captain, who told him that it was yet another merch of his favorite idol.
“You shouldn’t avoid Takao so much. We both know that he makes jokes to hide away his insecurities and weaknesses and what do you think might happen if he sees us right now?”
He’s…right
You bit your lower lip and slumped forward, leaning your elbows on your thighs as you nodded a couple of times. Nothing good would come out of you brooding over this on your own and having Midorima with you wouldn’t make your little “fight” with Takao just disappear. Seeing you so lost in thought, the young man behind you had an idea, one that he didn’t entirely like, but right now all he wanted was to make you feel better, so he swallowed his pride and handed you the ring.
“Take it…i-it’s not like I’m giving it to you forever s-since it’s not mine and all…b-but Oha Asa said t-that Scorpio might need some k-kind of symbol o-of…love so” he stuttered as he held out his hand, the fragile ring between his bandaged fingers. You were at a loss for words at his gesture and all you could do was whisper out his name in surprise.
“Shin-chan! What do you think you’re doing?!”
Suddenly someone took a hold of your slightly outstretched arm and tugged on it, causing you to stand up and fall against their chest. You looked at the face of the person and it was none other than Takao who was glaring at his friend through glassy eyes. As if bitten by a bug Midorima jumped up and began protecting himself, but all you could focus on was the man who had his arms wrapped tightly around your body. While the two men insulted each other and bickered you realized just how stupid this entire situation was and couldn’t help but smile.
You placed your hand on your boyfriend’s cheek and turned his head, so that he was now facing you, and kissed him, shutting both of them up almost instantly. It took the young man a shot while to return your kiss, but when he did he also took the opportunity to properly embrace you.
“I’m sorry for overreacting Kazu-chan, it’s just that I-”
“No, don’t apologize (Y/N), I know I went too far this time. You know I love you more than anything else in this world and that I’ll never think about leaving you.”
The smile that adorned your lips widened as you nodded energetically and reassured him that your love for him is also one that will most likely last forever.
While you two made up, smiling at each other, the green-haired young man looked at the ring and grinned to himself.
I knew it…Oha Asa is never wrong

Entertainment Spotlight: Briggon Snow
Briggon Snow is a Los Angeles-based actor, writer and creator, originally from South Portland, Maine. He is known for voicing Caleb Michaels in The Bright Sessions and The College Tapes, and roles in The Big Loop (Podcast), Seal Team (CBS), Game Shakers (Nickelodeon) and Masters of Sex (Showtime).
Can you share any fun facts about the making of The Bright Sessions and/or The College Tapes that fans would be surprised to find out?
Oh boy. I was just wracking my brain on this and struggling™. “Should I mention the obvious: That we did this remotely? Talk about those challenges?” And then moments ago my husband stepped out onto our balcony where I was staring at my laptop, read this question, and made a very cheeky suggestion. So here we go:
Everyone loves kissing in audio, right? *crickets* No? Only some of you? Well, I know it’s a hot-button topic, but when it comes to squishy romance feelings I’m here for it, I’ll admit. And well, we recorded this in a pandemic, so...no kissing allowed. And how did we get around that? Well, as one of our illustrious and poor defenseless audio designers got to e̶x̶p̶e̶r̶i̶e̶n̶c̶e̶ suffer through...I sent over “roll-the-tape” recordings of me pulling my husband into my home recording booth to - essentially - makeout for all of your enjoyment/cringes. Now...who’s kissing in The College Tapes? You’ll have to wait and hear (again sorry) because...well...reasons...
If you could have a conversation with Caleb, what would you want to talk about?
I’d love to go on trail with him or go camping and just talk about...feelings. I know the feelings/emotions thing is a constant for him so this is a little on the nose - but in playing Caleb and now writing for him too - I was challenged to submerge myself in my heart and mind and body and meditate with the emotions that pass me by every day. Lauren’s writing gave me a roadmap to identify and place things within myself outside of recording (a gift I’ll never be able to repay). And in these last five years I’ve found myself endlessly fascinated with human emotionality and our awareness or lack thereof and how we move throughout life in relationship with the things we feel. I’d love to look Caleb in the eyes and have us be unabashedly open with each other; the good, the bad, the everything.
Do you have a memory from college or young adulthood that you think would make a good College Tapes scene or episode?
It’s funny. I pulled on so many memories and feelings from my time at college. There’s one particular story involving greek life and my freshman roommate that I absolutely stole when writing my episodes. But I have one memory that’s so...nothing really...but so powerful in my life that I’d like to share...
My best friend in college ended up showing me Avatar: The Last Airbender, and when we’d watch it in his dorm, we would naturally smoosh up on his bed and cuddle under a blanket. And for me, a gay kid - just cuddling up with my straight best friend because we loved each other - and it not being weird or joked about when our friends were around - meant - like - everything to me.
Again, not a big crazy college memory. But let’s hear it for the straight boys out there dismantling toxic masculinity one soft action at a time!
If you could be Atypical in real life, would you want to be? If yes, what powers do you think that you would have?
I want to be an Atypical! I’d love to be able to communicate with anyone (+ animals) regardless of language. I want to know people. I love meeting people. I think one of the greatest privileges of being an actor is that we’re thrown together with other folks who (if it’s going right) open themselves up to you and participate in a created intimacy to seek understanding. More than anything, I’m curious and want to be influenced by other perspectives in this life - and the idea of being able to connect with and learn from a person in Morocco or even an Orca Whale off the coast of Washington is *heart eyes*.
Do you have any headcanons (something that you believe to be true that isn’t explicitly stated) about Caleb?
I don’t know if I’m going against actual canon here. After 5 years it’s hard to keep track of what’s in what episode in The Bright Sessions universe. But I’ve always imagined Caleb as a closet master chef of sorts. I think he learned to cook out of necessity growing up; odd hours for practices and games and his parents being a little scattered. And I think by college, Caleb is super impressive in the kitchen. The kitchen - like the gym or sport or nature - is one of his churches.
Can you share your favorite piece of The Bright Sessions fan art?
There have been so many incredible pieces of fan art over the years and I’ve loved them all. It’s wild how transformative fandoms can be. You never know what aspect of a character or a story is going to take hold in a person’s imagination, and all of the different headcanons and pieces of art our strange and unusual family has shared over the years continues to be my favorite part of being in the cast of The Bright Sessions.
Tumblr media
(Grayson, ghostcribs)
I’ve always adored Grayson’s imagining of Caleb and Adam. Grayson is one of my very favorite artists ever; so much so that I eventually - nervously - reached out, and now he and I have started work on a little project of our own. And I love that. We all get to (and I think have the responsibility to if we can) inspire each other with what we put out into the world. It’s call and answer and it makes for the best stuff.
Thanks for taking the time, Briggon! Catch The College Tapes, only on Luminary.

Karl coming back to you and the baby after a successful REVOLUTION!! Cause he deserves happiness (and maybe ethans there because I want rosemary and lil maginito baby to be friends
I like how you think anon
this one is gonna be fun and LONG
Let's start by pretending Ethan wasn't just a human chia pet, but the mold made him mutate like the Lords, he has no powers but his body is just...sturdier
that being said...
after Miranda's announcement of finding the perfect vessel and presenting Rose to the Lords, you could tell Heisenberg was extremely close to start his rebellion in that moment, what stopped him? that your child is waiting for the return of their parents and you still have no way out of everything goes wrong
it feels grotesque to receive a piece of such an innocent baby in a flask
through the creep vine you both learn about Ethan being in the Village, the father of the stolen child, you can see the expression in Karl's face shift into one of hope, he knows something you don't
when Winters is brought to the church you both play your role of sadistic monsters, giving a "show" for Donna and Moreau, but you have made sure there are useful things "left behind" by previous participants of your little game
with bated breaths, you follow his progress, feeling more and more hope with each Lord he takes down
Heisenberg cheers loudly when Dimitrescu goes down, lifting you off the ground and howling harder when only Moreau remains
He knows that, Ethan won't take it well when he arrives at the factory, so you offer to be the one to welcome him, reminding Karl to keep his cool and be straight with his answers and go to the point
NO THREATENING THE GUESS WITH THROWING HIM TO THE STURM
Ethan is, indeed, shaken up when he comes into the factory and the first thing he sees is you, he saw you at the church, why are you waiting for him?
"I must say, under other circumstances, it would have been...nice to meet you, but there's no time to lose, come with me, please"
he's hesitant, which is understandable, but he follows, a hand always hovering over his gun and eyes following your every move
when you reach Karl's center of command, you are careful with asking to sit and please listen to what you two have to say
"That boulder punching guy and his people are here, right Ethan?" Karl has his back to the other man "You see...me and Y/N...we need your help"
"My help!? after everything, each and everyone single one of you psychos put through?!"
But Karl is not listening, he starts to tell his story...your story, how Miranda took you both and used you like she's trying to use Rose, but you two were defective, useless, he wants revenge and is willing to do anything to get it
There's desperation in his voice but Winters seems unmoved by it, later you will admit that what you did was manipulative but as long as it works
Both men see you leave and come back with your child in arms, the kid is a bit older than Rose, the gray hair and factions that resemble yours is all that Ethan needs to know, Heisenberg as a child
they are vastly different but, he's like Ethan, he just wants to put his family in a safe place, so he accepts with the promise of "I'll kill you the moment you try to betray me"
Involving and convincing Chris is a lot harder, the man is already pissed at Ethan and now he's besties with 2 of Miranda's underlings? but time is running out and hes desperate for help, and maybe, it could actually work
Chris gives Heisenberg coordinates of where there's gonna be someone waiting for you and the kid, and that you have to be quick in reaching the point or they will leave with out you
of course, you panic! Karl is staying behind and you have to go? you want to kick Chris in the face and make him change his mind, he already has the soldats, why does he need Karl too?!
it's he who has to almost drag you away towards where the Duke is, he knows he has a better chance of getting you there, Miranda won't spare a glance at the merchant
a hefty payment and promises of coming back to you later, you are delivered safely to the team, Karl's trench coat draped over your shoulders and a sack filled with some of your most precious items. feeling like that's the last time you will see him again.
from the helicopter's window, you see with horror how the factory gets destroyed, gasping when Karl's mechanical form appears from the rubble and his army moving to where Miranda must be
the wait is grueling, painful, the sounds of gunfire and explosions make you jump, your crying child screams for their father, but this time, hes not there to calm the not cries and make them laugh
it's past dawn when the bigger explosion shakes the helicopter and when you cry the hardest, believing hes dead, that he die protecting you both.
the entire ride back to the BSAA is spent in silence, your child cried themselves to sleep and you are...just there...heartbroken, unable to shed another tear
a group of paramedics comes to you when you arrive at the new area, asking you questions and trying to check you for any wounds, but you don't answer or hear or care
from far away you see him, limping and using Ethan as a crutch, and then you are running, harder than you have ever done in your life, a strong hold in your baby
Karl looks up to see you and he can't help but smile and cry, open arms waiting for you and catching you, not carrying for his wounds, hes just there and his family is safe...and the 3 of you are free
neither of you put up a fight when the BSAA informs you that you will be under surveillance or that wherever you go you are expected to stay close to their offices, you laugh wholeheartedly when Karl asks "But we can go anywhere...you won't keep us locked away?"
Mia is the one who insists that both families must be close to each other, and you accept
it feels like a dream when Karl comes back and bitches about something that happened in the new lab, he may not be allowed to use corpses but hes allowed to tinker around with his creations and help to contain all bioweapons
you see your child grow and little Rose comes often to play, both children laugh and run around, not knowing what life they could have had
they whisper secrets and share what they have, Mia lights up whenever your kid gives her drawings, Karl melts down a bit when Rosemary calls him "uncle Heis"
and you see him change, he no longer frowns or gets irritated, he giggles or tells jokes, you have caught him develop a true fascination in watching videos and play video games
for once in so long...everything is finally fine

S5 Spencer Reid Appreciation
So, I have a bone to pick with this fandom. The other day I saw someone complaining about seeing Spencer with mobility aids. First of all, this is absolutely abhorrent on its own because we all know that he only had mobility aids because Matthew needed them, but that’s not even the only reason I’m angry.
As many of you know, I’m a cr*pple (that word is only for physically disabled people, please). I use a cane and occasionally a wheelchair. And let me tell you - Seeing Matthew Gray Gubler openly using a mobility aid was life changing for me as a teenager. At the time of the injury, he believed that he would be using them forever and CBS kept him in the show, and acted like nothing was different at all.
Do you guys understand how big of a deal that is? Normally when actors are injured, they are almost never shown, or only shown in situations where it’s not obvious. They could have done this with Spencer, but they didn’t. Instead, they showed him disabled and no one acted like anything was weird about it.
THEY HAD AN FBI AGENT WITH A PHYSICAL DISABILITY AND IT WASN’T A JOKE. They showed him doing normal things! Like participating in crime scene investigations! They showed him sitting on elevated spaces so he could be the same eye level as his team!
At Haley’s funeral, he walked with them since he couldn’t carry the casket!
Tumblr media
They showed him being normal compassionate Spencer! Independent Spencer!
Tumblr media
People still shook his hand! (I think they forgot he doesn’t do that, lmao)
Tumblr media
They made sure he always had a chair!
Tumblr media
Criminal Minds gave me the chance to see someone like me on screen and he wasn’t a joke, he wasn’t ignored, and he wasn’t shunned into a corner for the season. So if you see this and you think it’s annoying or (gag) ugly, then you can go ahead and escort yourself the fuck off my blog. And while you’re at it, I want you to consider why it bothered you so much to see your favorite actor with a disability.
Disabled people are constantly desexualized & dehumanized. We’re treated like we’re invisible or a burden to everyone around us. Criminal Minds didn’t let either of those things happen. If you didn’t like Matthew because of a mobility aid, then you don’t like Matthew. You view him as an object for your aesthetic viewing pleasure instead of the living, breathing person he is and that is NOT OKAY.
Anyway. That’s my rant. S5 Spencer rules and that’s that.

Chapter Three - Sometimes it’s just a date
You don't like water polo. Actually, you don't like watching the water polo team.
With next week being finals week, you would like to have a quiet period. But then, the track and field and water polo finals are making the athletes restless, and you have to deal with the excitement of your colleagues around the halls.
Maybe Natasha is right, you are pretty grumpy when it comes to socializing.
Participation in a sports team is mandatory from the first year on. Principal Thanos had approved this rule as an "incentive to healthy living," and only students with a medical condition could get away with it. You considered falsifying a medical history many times, but eventually you agreed to join the lacrosse team. You kept your performance average, just to maintain your grade. And even when the coach saw potential in you, you told her that you had no interest in participating in the championships.
And then you were sitting on the team bench, watching your team play on the field while the crowd cheered as you watched. All sports were encouraged, after all, usually all students attended all kinds of games. You watched Natasha wave to you from the stands, and you smiled back.
You were almost falling asleep, then a chorus of startled exclamations coming from the audience startled you, and you looked quickly at the field.
Your teammate, Gamora, suffered a foul and was being helped off the field by her teammates. You looked down the field with a frown, hoping that she was all right. But then she was taken off the field on a stretcher, her knee bandaged. It didn't take long before the coach came to you and signaled that you were going to have to replace the girl.
Letting out a grumble of protest, you stood up, grabbing the bat the coach offered you, and stepped onto the field.
Your approach to playing was interesting. You were aggressive and impatient, but efficient. You scored three points, and tried not to be bothered by the attention you were getting. And then, when your team won, you tried not to push the girls who jumped on you during the celebration.
As you joined the team in the locker room, the coach asked to speak to you privately.
- I wanted to say that I was surprised by your performance, but in fact I always knew what you could do. - She commented as soon as you were alone in her room, inside the locker room. You shifted the weight of your feet, awkwardly.
- Thanks, I guess. - You say, and the teacher smiles tenderly at you.
- Tell me, Y/L, do you have plans for college? - she asks, leaning on her desk.
- Not really, Coach. - You say. - I sent some applications, but after my suspension, I don't think I will have much of a chance.
- You know that something like a position on a regular team can count in your favor. - She comments, and you shrug.
- I have only played in two games so far. - You hit back. She smiles.
- Oh yes, and you performed flawlessly. - She says. - What I'm saying is, I could write you a letter of recommendation. If you commit to play with us until the end of the school year, of course.
You frown, thinking about it.
- I wouldn't want to take Gamora's place.
The teacher laughs, shrugging her shoulders.
- Don't worry about it, we can arrange the team for you to play together. Besides that, unfortunately Gamora will not participate in at least two games because of her injury. And she will be happy to know that you are helping the team to win.
You nod, putting your hands in your pockets.
- Okay, I'll take it then. - You say. - Only for the letter of recommendation of course. - You joke, and the coach goes to one of the drawers. She pulls out a first team uniform. - This is yours. - She hands it to you. - And please try to control your temper on the field.
The coach winks at you, and you laugh slightly, accepting the uniform. You nod slightly and walk out of the room toward the showers.
- I can't believe you're a jock now! - Natasha jokes when you tell her you joined the team. You laugh, pushing her slightly. You are sitting at the tables in the outdoor cafeteria during the second break.
- Please don't say that. - You say playfully. Nat just smiles, taking a bite out of her snack.
- But anyway. - she says after a moment. - Are you still going to the concert on Saturday?
You let out a sigh and Nat looks at you curiously.
- I'll tell you something, and you promise not to hate me?
Nat laughs, imitating a promise sign, and you shake your head, smiling.
- Go ahead, say it. You're making me curious. - She asks. You laugh, trying to build up courage.
- I have to tell Carol I'm not interested. - You begin, and Nat raises her eyebrows in surprise. - I'm liking someone else.
- Wow, Jones really got to you? - She assumes, and you laugh, denying it with your head. - Wait, there's a third girl? My God, you're unstoppable.
You laugh ruefully, and Nat follows you. You swallow dryly before speaking and look at the table where you are sitting.
- I am in love with Wanda Maximoff.
Nat lets out a surprised exclamation, and then laughs, thinking you were joking. And then she notices your expression, and widens her eyes in surprise.
- My God, you are serious! - she exclaims. But then she smiles at you, and puts her hand on your forearm. - Hey, I don't have a problem with that. I was just a little surprised.
- Really? - you ask with a sigh of relief. Nat smiles at you.
- Now explain to me how this happened. - She asks, cupping her face in her left hand as she looks at you intently. You take a sip of your soda before speaking.
- Actually, this has been going on for some time. - You confess. - Me and Wanda... well. The first person who knew I liked girls was her. - You tell, and Nat lets out a surprised exclamation, but does not interrupt you. - We have been in the same class since elementary school. When we were in eighth grade, she saw me kissing Mary Jane Watson behind the soccer fields. I asked her not to tell anyone, and she never did. - You say, and Nat listens attentively. - And then she became who she is now, and any interaction we had seemed like we were going to jump around each other's necks at any moment.  - You sighed. - And then, after the soccer game, I gave her an orgasm against the locker room wall.
- Wait, what? - exclaimed Natasha in surprise. - My god, you had sex with Wanda Maximoff? - She practically screamed and you raised your hands and waved for her to keep her voice down. Nat laughed with a mixture of disbelief and excitement. - I can't believe it. I don't even know what to think about it.
You mumbled with embarrassment, looking away.
- Just keep it down, please. - You asked, and Nat laughed.
- Are you two in some kind of secret relationship now? - she asked, and you laughed ironically.
- Not at all. - You say. - She completely ignored me after that. And then we argued during Ms. Hill's class.
- Shit, I'm sorry about that. But are you still willing to take this anywhere? Since you are going to dismiss Carol.
You blink slightly, thoughtfully. Then you shrug.
- I'm only going to dismiss Carol because it's not fair to be with her while thinking about another girl. - You explain. - And I don't expect Wanda to want anything to do with me anyway.
- I see. - Nat says, giving you a sad smile. - But I think she would be very stupid to let someone like you slip away.
You smile sadly, and you go back to eating. Before long the break is over, and you share Nat's displeasure at having to go to the health class.
Health classes are awkward. At least now that you and Natasha were friends, you were distracted by her jokes. Professor Wade Wilson was known for his humorous and completely unfiltered attitude during class. He made jokes and pranks, and didn't care much if the students were actually learning something. You remember when you were learning about the effects of alcohol on the body and he brought a bottle of whiskey and shared it among the students. Counselor Fury was not happy at all.
But occasionally you learned very important things in class, like how to clean wounds made in laboratories, for example.
You figured he would follow the programmed curriculum, but you should know better. Wilson came into the room, sat down at his own desk and signaled for everyone to go to their seats. Nat exchanged an amused look with you.
- Good morning, brats. - He said as he took something out of his pocket. The room erupted in giggles and comments as he held up a rubber penis and vagina. - Let's talk about sex today.
- Finally, eh Mr. Wilson! - shouted Tony Stark ironically, causing the class to laugh. You saw him give Pepper Potts a mischievous look, while the girl just smiled and fiddled with her hair.
- Well, I need to teach you how to put on condoms first. - says the professor with a slight irony in his voice. - Because of course you are all innocent in this matter.
The class laughed, but you were distracted scribbling in your notebook. The professor leaned over to read the attendance list on his desk.
- I need two of you to demonstrate your knowledge to me. - He says. - Stark and Y/L/N come forward please.
Nat nudges you with her elbow and you frown. She nods toward the desk, and Professor Wilson is already looking at you. You mumble a "shit" before getting up and walking to the front of the room.
- Please demonstrate. - He says handing a condom to you and one to Tony, who gives you an angry look, and you roll your eyes. Tony moves toward the plastic vagina, but Wilson laughs, putting his hand in your way. - The other prosthesis, Mr. Stark.
You watch Tony's red cheeks with disbelief, and you also hear the giggles that circulate around the room. Tony quickly opens the condom with his teeth and puts on the rubber penis with his shaking hands. Then he turns to the class, putting his hands in his pockets.
- Who can tell me what Mr. Stark did wrong? - asks the professor, but no one raises their hand. You wonder if people just don't want to say that Tony Stark was wrong, or if they really didn't know. - Really, guys, nobody?
- He bit the package, sir. - You grumble, feeling all the stares on you. Wilson lets out a happy exclamation as he looks at you.
- Yes, exactly, Miss Y/L/N. - He says, looking around the room again. - When you bite the condom wrapper, you can damage the condom, and consequently, take away its effectiveness. The class takes note of the information passed on. - Now, Y/N, please. Demonstrate how to use the female condom.
You let out a sigh, and turn to the table, without preventing other students from seeing what you are doing. Quickly, you open the package and put the condom on the prosthetic.  Professor Wilson lets out a chuckle, congratulating you for handling it correctly, but as you turn around, you hear Tony Stark comment loudly:
- With so much practice in real life, it should be easy. - He says, and the class bursts into giggles.
- Stark. - The professor says with a scolding tone, but you assume a wry posture.
- Don't be like that, Tony. I'm sure Steve will be happy to let you practice with him. - You fight back, and the laughter swirls around you.
- Look, here you bitch... - Tony steps forward and the professor stands in front of him, with a serious expression. You think this is the first time you've seen him angry.
- You two come with me immediately.
And so you end up sitting in Nicky Fury's office again, with Tony Stark in the chair next to you. You both stand with your arms crossed and looking straight ahead as Professor Wilson explains the confusion in his class. Fury nods and says that he will handle everything, and the professor gives him an understanding smile before leaving the room.
- I have been waiting to talk to you two. - says Fury as he sits down at his desk. - Who would like to start?
- I have nothing to say. - says Tony in a harsh tone. You want to punch him again.
- That's too bad, Mr. Star. - says Fury. - You will stay here until someone tells me the nature of this conflict.
You let out an irritated snort.
- I've told you before, Fury. - You say. - Stark is an arrogant piece of shit who has no respect for anyone.
- You're fucking insane, girl! - Tony cuts you off, and you refuse to look at him. Fury lets out a sigh.
- Please, I will not tolerate this kind of verbal aggression in my office. - He says. - If you don't answer me, I will simply recommend that you both be expelled.
You and Tony are silent, both with furious expressions. But then you remember the promise you made to the coach, and let out a sigh.
- I punched Tony in the face at his eighteenth birthday party. - You confess, surprising them both.
A moment passes, and you think Fury is finally going to expel you, but then Tony speaks up next to you.
- I provoked her. - He confesses. You look surprised, and Fury just waits for Tony to clarify. He lets out an impatient sigh before speaking. - I followed her out and said some rude stuff.
Fury is thoughtful for a few minutes, and then he makes some notes in his notebook. You began to drum your fingers against your thigh, uncomfortable.
- Would you like to tell me exactly why you did that Tony? - Fury asked.
Tony let out an impatient grunt. And many moments passed before he spoke again.
- I don't know, okay? - He says, running his hands through his hair nervously. - I only saw her kissing a girl and then I was outside. I didn't want her at my party.
- I should have known you were a homophobic jerk. - You say, and Tony tells you to go fuck yourself. Fury warns you both again.
- Tony, I've heard rumors about your relationship with Mr. Rogers. - Fury begins and Stark straightens his posture, his face red. You think the conversation is getting interesting. - Don't you think, perhaps, your reaction to seeing Miss Y/L/N has something to do with it?
- I don't want to talk about it. - Tony grumbles. You stand there thoughtfully, understanding what Fury meant. He had suggested that the only reason Tony hated you so much, besides being a complete idiot, was because he rejected his own sexuality.
- We're going to talk about this privately, Mr. Star. - Announces Fury. - That will be my last warning to you two. No more fighting. If I hear that you two have renewed conflicts, I will recommend your immediate expulsion.
You and Tony nod, and Fury releases you with a detention card. You grumble, but leave the room, closing the door while Tony and Fury stand talking in private.
You never imagined that you would see Pietro Maximoff in detention. But when you thought about it, it actually made sense.
Sitting in the back of the room, you were even more surprised when he looked up at you, and gave you a shy smile. You blinked in surprise and looked away.
Professor Charles Xavier only taught history to the senior year, which left him with many free periods throughout the day, so he was also responsible for the detention class. It worked well, since it seemed that no one could hide anything from her, and detention ended up being quite efficient.
He came into the classroom with a book in his hand, and sat down, staying for many minutes without saying anything at all. And then he asked everyone to pair up, and you looked incredulously at Pietro Maximoff as he sat down in front of you.
- You're kidding me, right? - you said as soon as he arrived. Peter laughed, shrugging his shoulders.
Before Pietro could say anything, Professor Xavier announced that the class should make a short summary of the last subject he taught in class, which drew a disgruntled gasp from the few students present.
You started to take the materials out of the backpack and put them on the table.
- I wanted to thank you. - Pietro said as the professor sat down. The class was buzzing with murmurs, all the students talking about their work, and Charles didn't seem to care, focused on his book. You looked at Pietro with your eyebrows raised, and he smiled wryly. - For helping me that day.
- It's a natural reaction, Maximoff. - You retort, looking away from him and start writing in your notebook. Pietro chuckles.
- Yeah, I know. - he says. - But still, thank you. The nurse told me that if you hadn't been so quick, I might have had an injury that would have prevented me from playing football.
You shrugged, not knowing what to say. You were silent for a few moments, each concentrated on his summary, and then Pietro stopped writing and you felt him looking at you.
- What is it now? - you asked without taking your eyes off the paper.
- Do you like music? - You raise your eyebrows incredulously as you look at him.
- Everybody likes music, what kind of question is that?
Pietro laughs awkwardly.
- Sorry, you're right. - he says humorously. - I actually meant, do you know "The Panthers"? They are a rock band. They are playing in town on Saturday and…
- Are you asking me out? - You blink in confusion. Pietro shrugs.
- As a thank you. It's not a date. - He adds quickly when he sees your expression. - I'm going to the show with some friends.
- I'm also going to the show. - You retort, and Pietro assumes a surprised but happy expression.
- Great, we can see each other there then!
- I guess. - You grumble, turning your attention back to the summary. Pietro smiles, and a moment passes before he hands you a small piece of paper with a phone number.
- Text me when you get there. So it'll be easier for us to meet. - he suggested.
You blinked in surprise, but remembering that Fury had told you to avoid conflict, you just put the paper in your pocket, and you and Pietro finished the exercise. He handed your summaries to the teacher, and sat down in front of you again. You left your hands in your pockets as he turned to you.
- What did you do to be here anyway? - you asked. Pietro stretched out his legs, leaning his back against the wall.
- I followed your lead. - He said humorously, and you frowned uncomprehendingly. He laughed, then clarified. - I punched Tony during practice.
You raised your eyebrows in surprise.
- Wow, I didn't see that one coming. - You say. - May I ask why?
- He said some things about my sister. - Pietro says, locking his jaw as if remembering the conflict. - And then I punched him in the mouth. - He grimaces and imitates the move with his hand, making you laugh slightly.
- What did he say? - You can't help the question from escaping your lips. Pietro doesn't seem to mind though, shrugging his shoulders.
- Stupid comments about her, sex stuff. - he says. - We were training and he decided he was free to talk about her body to everyone on the team.
You swallowed your anger, not wanting to show it to Pietro, choosing only to nod.
- When he does it with other girls is it okay then? - you tease without holding back. Pietro frowns, denying it with his head.
- Of course not. - he says, and straightens up. - Look, I know you have an opinion about me. But I'm not a complete idiot. I don't treat girls that way.
- Oh, right. - You say it with irony. Pietro laughs, knowing exactly what you're talking about.
- I am serious. - he says. - I know what the school says about me. I don't like commitment, and I've been with a lot of girls. But I didn't cheat on any of them. - He clarifies, shrugging his shoulders. - And I don't treat them like objects.
- Congratulations for doing the minimum. - You say a bit harshly, and Pietro laughs.
You fall silent again, and then Professor Xavier dismisses the class.
Pietro waves and smiles at you as you leave detention, and you think that maybe you have been teleported to a parallel reality.
Carol picks you up at your house. You both put on your leather jackets, and she thinks it' s pretty hot.
The Panthers' concert is very crowded, and it is held in an open field on the edge of town. When you arrive, Carol holds your hand to lead you to your group of friends. You don't mind.
You hug everyone, and mention that you like Thor's new haircut, who had cut his long hair and was wearing an earring in his left ear. You were talking for several minutes in the food cart area, since the show was going to take a while to start.
Then Pietro Maximoff saw you and waved excitedly, and his friends looked at you with a mixture of curiosity and incredulity. Natasha laughed softly in your ear before he approached.
- So glad you could make it! - he said cheerfully. You decided not to mention his choice of clothes, since Pietro came with the team jacket.
- Hi Pietro. - You greet awkwardly, but he looks cheerful, and greets all of your friends with a smile.
- Hey, you're owls, aren't you? - He says. - I've seen you at state when we played there last year!
Your friends smile and nod politely, and then Pietro looks around, and waves. A group of people join you all next. You feel your body tense up the moment Wanda Maximoff walks up to you, and then a deep irritation hits you as you notice a tall boy with his arms around her. You think you have seen him before in geography class. Also in the group are your classmates Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, and Peter Parker, the last being a freshman. You barely register the words of introduction that Pietro makes, your attention completely on Wanda, who looks surprised and slightly embarrassed to see you.
Your friends greet Pietro's group, and you look away from Wanda to pay attention to his words.
- If you guys don't mind, can we all stay together? - Pietro suggests, and you want to scream that you can't bear to stand next to the boy holding Wanda without strangling him, but your friends agree, looking excited to interact with new people.
- Let's stay in the north stands, it's better to see. - Said Valkyrie signaling the direction, the group agreed and you started walking. Natasha hugged Clint and gave you a suggestive nod in the direction of Wanda, which made you roll your eyes in humor. And then Carol threw her arm over your shoulder, and you wanted to laugh at the deadly expression Wanda threw at you before looking forward. Carol didn't notice.
When you arrived at the chosen area, you sat down on the grass. The group was well-mixed, and everyone seemed to be talking to each other. You felt Wanda's gaze on your back, but you refused to look at her. Thor and Bucky handed out the snacks that they had bought with the group, and as you drank your soda, you felt Carol's hand on your thigh.
And then she kissed you, and you knew you had to talk to her. You asked her to walk with you, and you walked back to the entrance of the show, which was now completely empty.
It was quick, and impressive easy. Carol smiled and said that everything was fine, and said again that you never made promises to each other. She gave you a kiss on the cheek and went back to the group. You told her you would buy some candy before you went back.
When you reached the snack bar area, someone pulled you behind a pillar.
- I want to talk to you. - Wanda said angrily. You rolled your eyes impatiently, putting distance between your bodies.
- I'm all ears. - You said with irony.
- I don't want you dating anyone else.
You let out an incredulous laugh.
- You've got to be kidding me. - You spoke in anger. - Are you even listening to what you're saying now?
- Why are you going out with that girl? - Wanda asks in the same tone.
- You're a damn hypocrite, you know that? -You accuse her, moving closer. -Wanting to impose demands when you're having sex with that jerk.
Wanda rolls her eyes, and you think you might explode with rage. And then you grab her around the waist and push her against the pillar behind her. Wanda lets out a surprised exclamation and her gaze falls directly to your mouth.
- You think I don't know how you feel, don't you, Wanda? - You whisper, looking at her with a mixture of seriousness and desire. - Tell me, do you pretend it's me touching you when you're with him?
Wanda lets out a sigh, but lifts her head, not responding. You let out a wry laugh, and then you press your knee firmly against her core, and she shivers and lets out a low groan, closing her eyes tightly.
- Don't forget to moan my name tonight. - You say it against her ear, and then let go.
You walk back to the group, feeling hot and bothered. You exchange a look with Natasha, but say nothing.
Wanda comes back a little later, and during the entire show, you feel her looking at you.
You refuse Carol's ride when the show ends. She waves with a smile, and leaves. And then you wave goodbye to everyone, and decide to leave by bus. You liked public transportation because it helped you to think while you looked out the window.
- Be careful, troublemaker. - asks Nat as she gives you a hug goodbye. She is sleeping at Bruce's house and will not accompany you on the way back.
Pietro has had a few too many beers, and gives you a tight hug when he says goodbye, saying that the night was incredible. You laugh at his reaction. You don't say goodbye to Wanda.
And then you are walking to the bus stop, with your headphones on, and you almost stumble in shock when you feel someone touching your shoulder.
- Fuck, girl! - You complain as you turn around. - What is it now?- Go on a date with me. - Wanda says looking at you.
- What?
- Go on a date with me. - She repeats, smiling.
You blush, and look down at the floor, suddenly feeling very warm. You wave your hands inside your jacket pockets.
- Now?
Wanda nods, and you bite back a smile on your lips.
- Okay. - You agree.
You turn and sit down at the bus stop. Wanda sits quietly next to you. You raise your hand and take out one of your headphones, offering it to Wanda. She smiles when she accepts, and you listen to some music together while you wait for the bus.
Since the vast majority of places in town were closed at this time, you took Wanda to a place that wouldn't be.
When you worked at the junkyard, you discovered many interesting places when you had to pick up equipment for your boss. One of these places was the city's port.
You knew that there was a secluded area of the municipal harbor with an incredible view of the sea, and so you guided Wanda through the bars and down the concrete path. You sat on the edge, your feet dangling a few feet from the ocean below.
- How did you find this place? - she asks, staring at the landscape.
- Working at the junkyard made me explore the city. - You answer also looking straight ahead.
You are silent for a moment before you ask:
- What should we talk about, Wanda?
- Anything. - She says. - Or nothing at all.
You smile.
- I don't know what is going on between us. - You confess, and Wanda lets out a sigh.
She says nothing and you almost give up trying to talk about your relationship, and then she puts her hand on top of yours, looking at the ocean in front of you.
- I'll tell you one thing, and you promise not to freak out, okay? - she asks, and you nod.
Wanda looks down at her own lap, and takes a deep breath, as if she is taking courage.
- I think I'm in love with you. - She confesses, and you feel your heart race. - It's been a while, actually. I guess I just realized it now.
- How long?
- Do you remember when I saw you kissing Mary Watson in the eighth grade? - She asks and you nod. - I just... I didn't know why it bothered me. And then, you told me to keep it a secret and I got so jealous that every time I saw you I just wanted to slap you. And then we started to fight and I pushed all the feelings aside hoping they would go away. And then game night happened.
You remained silent as you absorbed Wanda's words. She spoke again before you could.
- Damn, I know this is a lot to absolve. - She says. - I understand if you just want sex. Or if you'd rather not talk to me anymore.
You interrupt her monologue with a kiss on the lips, which makes her gasp. But you pull away, smiling shyly at her.
- I'm in love with you too, Wanda. - You confess, and watch Wanda's cheeks turn red.
Wanda brings your mouths together again, and you kiss her intensely. You giggle with relief and happiness, and then Wanda hugs you around the neck, and you let your arms wrap around her tightly, sinking into her body heat as you close your eyes.
You hold each other for long minutes, until you break the embrace to look at Wanda tenderly. You find her to be the most beautiful girl you have ever seen. Running your fingers over her face, you smile tenderly.
- What will happen now? - you ask, and try not to be intimidated by Wanda's hesitation.
- I don't know. - She says. - I want to be with you.
- Are you ready to admit this to everyone?
Wanda closes her eyes for a moment, and you think she is going to deny it. But then she nods in agreement, and you feel a new surge of excitement hit you.
You let out a relieved laugh, and kiss Wanda's cheek, pulling her into a hug. She giggles against your grip. You then settle down, sitting side by side as you put an arm around her shoulders and she leans her head on your chest. Wanda intertwines your hands in her lap as you gaze out over the ocean in front of you.
- Do you really think Darcy and Elizabeth wouldn't be together? - she asks, and you laugh, not moving away.
- Actually, I just disagreed with you, because you're hot when you're mad. - You joked, making her laugh.
The night went by quickly after that. You and Wanda cuddled while talking about various random subjects. You watched the sunset together, and she kissed you hard before getting on the bus to her house.

why mcyttwt does not think some (if not most) of the time when it comes to mcc
if i post this in twitter, i’d surely get hated upon but someones gotta have to say this one day. also this does not target to mcytblr!!! this rant is more of towards mcyttwt!!!
remember how mcyt was so chill before all of this shit? how we would watch our favorite minecraters when the community was so small? or how mcc was an event that both ccs and fans can have some fun and entertainment once per month? and that was only last year too. now look at the new generation of mcyt fans and see why some of the old fans dont really associate the new ones.
as a fan of the old gen mcytbers like DanTDM, SkyDoesMinecraft, Aphmau and CaptainSparklez. heck im a fan of pewds’ minecraft series before dream or tommy or ranboo or the new gen of mcyt ccs blew up (a year before them if im correct), and we dont see drama or bad shit all the time when it comes to their content.
now compare that to the new gen where every single fucking day, a bored fan or anti would post shit drama in twitter where some of the people from twitter moved to tumblr just to not get a headache from the batshit craziness mcyttwt brought forth. and it just snapped more when the mccp21 rolled in.
heres some of my takes about the mccp21 issue:
1) “there’s a lack of representation of lgbtq+ in the teams!!!”
heres something to tell yall about that. scott doesnt have a fucking choice. scott smajor has told time and time again, WEEKS before the announcement of teams, that there are certain requirements and limitations to mccp21 thus there will be difficulty in choosing whos entering or whos not. limitations and requirements such as it will be streamed on youtube or how streamers with twitch contracts aren’t allowed to stream or (god bless scott’s good heart) scott not allowing some of the lgbtq+ streamers in joining the special event due to wanting them to have a chance to stream and experience their first mcc (so to those who said that ranboo should have been in mccp21, shut up ‘cuz scott wanted genderman to have fun streaming his first mcc but cant due to ranboo being a well-known twitch streamer). to those who complained that ant and velvet should be in the mcc, stop being selfish and do some actual research on why scott didn’t include them. a simple question to those two’s fans would answer that they can’t make it due to them camping for a week which within those days is the mccp21. they’re having time to themselves, not wasting it on a minecraft championship.
take in the consideration that, oh i dont know, not a lot of lgbtq+ ccs applied to the event? its not a free invite championship (in fact, mcc has always been like that), it’s an applied with the sufficient and correct requirements kind of event. the artist who created the icons from the previous mcc for the teams said that scott let in some of the new ccs in last minutes due to lack of applicants not meeting the requirements thus not having custom artworks for the teams if they want to announce the teams in time.
2.) “there’s no lesbians or trans in the teams >:(((”
sadly enough, there’s not much of the players from the lgbtq+ community but to say there’s no trans people in mccp21 is utterly false. by definition, trans mean  denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex. other genders such as non-binary, genderfluid, androgyne, bigender, gender expansive all fall under trans. you define yourself with the gender you personally chose and comfy with from you birth gender. so saying there’s no trans in the teams when there are players from the event like eret or sqaishey who are nb and genderfluid respectively are there to also represent not only the sexuality but also the gender identity of others??? like c’mon, please make sense mcyttwt.
also, while its sad to not see lesbians, please know that lgbtq+ doesn’t strictly be defined by lesbians. ffs, lgbtq+ literally means Lesbians Gays Bisexuals Transgenders and Questioning (or Queer but im not too sure about that one) which means that there are still other representatives for the community in the event.
3) “technoblade is in the event?!!! WHAT THE FUCK, HES A HOMOPHOBE/LESBIPHOBE-”
utter clowns, toxic twitter users are. do you really think that scott smajor, an openly gay man, would let a supposed “homophobe/lesbiphobe” in an event that focuses in supporting the lgbtq+ community? do you hear yourself? do you even do research where the joke he made was when he was the same age as me and it was based on a historical article back in WW2? or how he passionately supports the community especially the lesbians because a lesbian couple complimented him to which kickstart his confidence? the man willingly went to this mcc event despite being flamed a lot in twitter because he (and everyone) knows that his chat, his fans and supporters, are literal millionaires. if you saw a stream from foolish where he auctioned canonical characters for funs, a techno fan donated thousand of dollars to get technoblade, and that’s only one fan, now imagine a hundreds of thousands of them.
like it or not, technoblade has always been open about his support to the community, especially that majority of his fanbase are from the same community that mcyttwt allegedly swore that technoblade hates.
4) “since this mccp21 is pointless because theres no dteam, quackity, punz or (insert cc name), let’s have a watch party of the previous mccs to spite mccp21!!!” “let’s hope (insert cc name) stream on the 26th so mccp21 doesnt have the same amount of viewership like before!!!” “where are (insert cc name)??? gosh, this mcc is so boring without them!!!”
shut up shut up shut up shut up shut the actual fuck up. are you really seriously hearing yourself? are you willing and proudly boycotting a once in a year special event that is seriously needed by the lgbtq+ community? are you that cruel and selfish to sacrifice a project that helped tons of people just for your sick entertainment and desires? are you that evil to stop others from enjoying and donating to the trevor project? are you that inconsiderate of other ccs that aren’t part of dsmp and calling them boring? and for what? because your favorite cishet streamer isn’t there? oh booofuckinghoo! you’re so fucking petty to even post about this kind of tweets in public.
(edit: did yall honestly thought that without your favorite streamers that the mcc is not worth watching because they aren't there? well let me tell you, im a ranboo fan. ive watched him when he first entered the dsmp and watched him spinning in his unicorn chair for 5 minutes. the boo community waited for so many months for genderman to join mcc yet we didn't even do that kind of disgusting action and behavior every time he isn't in mcc. 8 months. that's how long ive watched him. ive waited 8 months for him to be in the event yet i still watch other povs like tommy's, puffy's, wilbur's, and etc., because it's fun and entertaining to watch them despite the beloved not participating in the games.
if you're that spoiled to not even watch mcc because (insert cc whose not part of mccp21 name here) isn't part of the roster then you most likely have a one dimensional humor because there will always be someone more funny and entertaining than them. i like dsmp don't get me wrong, but i found parrot's school smp funnier than dsmp yet you don't see me insulting both series, do you? learn to keep yourself if you're calling ccs as boring or dull or not entertaining enough due to not having the same big platform as the dsmp members.)
you don’t deserve to call yourself a fan if you’re doing this kinds of actions. in fact, people like you should be kicked out from the mcyt community because your kind of people are the reason why we look so bad from the outside. your toxic and self-entitled to these content creators are the reason why famous ccs like sbi, purpled, tubbo and almost ranboo left twitter/implied strict rules to their subtwts. you drove out an entire friend group that tons of fans found comfort in from the platform and you still have the audacity to this kind of shit? honestly, just leave before you give me a headache.
what im sayin’ is that mcyttwt is one of the worst, if not THE worst, subtwts out of the other subtwts in twitter. having no actual research or evidences or spreading false information is common in twitter where you would have to take what they said with a micro size grain of salt. mcyttwt already ruined the fun and spirit of mcc during its comeback in mcc14 due to the glitch and beta testing shit (ey i still stand for the ranboo beta testing but i know that will be worthless since theres hints of him joining soon in mcc15). if you’re still in mcyttwt, i suggest to get out of there while you still can. we’ll never know if there’s a bigger shitstorm than this in the mcyttwt that may happen in the future.
edit! hi bella again, ive been told by a polite and cool user that not all people from mcyttwt are toxic and/or cruel. im going to clear something up here. ive written this during the heat of the announcement of mccp21 teams. so there's a lot of complains and/or entitled people in the app (you can even see it in my previous post too if you want evidences!) that gave off mostly negative vibes towards the event.
ive seen the cool ones who actually took the consideration for scott's side and the criticism of the lack of representation of other communities within the lgbtq+ umbrella (ive even share some parts of it above so im also a bit upset to the lack of numbers in the community). and some of them are correct about recruiting lgbtq+ creators in youtube but! like i said, it's an applied event and not invitational one, so its up to that content creator if they want to join or not. the amount of cishet in the roster are just those who want to support the cause and/or backups/stand-ins in case scott and noxcrew can't find enough ccs in time!
just wanna clear this up because mcyttwt these days are covered by really cringe fans (ive noticed a pattern of them mostly new ones but there are still awesome new fans (like my irl friend who just joined this year) within the community) that covered the good ones where they enjoy, have fun and share some neat ideas and thoughts to the community within the platform!
when i said to get out of the mcyttwt while you still can, i meant to get out of there to avoid drama (that is really small contrast those who really need to address the issue) and take a break from it. it's still your choice if you want to be surround by it or not or if you want to come back to the app. all im saying is to buckle up for the shitstorm cuz this is not the last time that the twitter side of mcyt will cause negativity to the community.

Tumblr media
“draco malfoy, late again?” the professor sighed, not looking at malfoy who was quietly taking his seat. instead, the professor just shook his head in disappointment.
“yeah yeah, won’t happen again,” draco snickered, playfully shoving goyle and crabbe. all three of them were quietly giggling in amusement, as if the entire school was a joke to them.
the professor raised an eyebrow at draco, crossing his arms. unimpressed, he stared draco down. “you have been saying that for the past three classes you were late to as well, mr. malfoy.”
you held back your laughter as draco got scolded, only because you knew that draco was an arse so watching him get in trouble up close was definitely a treat for you.
draco was quick to turn to you, who was sitting at the table to his right. “got something to say, mudblood?” he snapped at you, and you glared at him.
“got some daddy issues to fix, malfoy?” you shot back, venom lacing your voice.
“alright you two,” the professor said, walking to the middle of the room, eyes switching from malfoy to you. “that’s quite enough for today. since mr. malfoy had the audacity to come in late once again, he will be our beloved volunteer for our experiment today.”
draco raises his hand, “i will not be agreeing to that, professor. it’s just not fair.”
“and it’s not fair that you’re wasting my time, so i advise you to come up here now, because you don’t have a choice,” the professor gestured for malfoy to come to him, you hear a grumble from draco, followed by his chair being pushed back.
draco walked up to a large object covered by a black drape in the middle of the room, standing right in front of it. draco made sure to give you a nasty look before getting to the front.
the professor moved out of the way to remove the drape, but not before saying, “okay, mr. malfoy. i want you to describe to me what you see when i remove this cloth.”
“easy enough,” draco smirks, crossing his arms over his chest, arrogance oozing off of him. when the professor withdraws the drape, draco looks closesly. it’s a mirror with a golden lining, decorated with intricate designs and beautiful patterns. it’s much larger than draco, and light rays bounce off it throughout the room.
“if you don’t move out of the way y/l/n,” draco sneers, making you squint your eyes in confusion, “i swear i’ll-”
“that’s enough mr. malfoy, you can sit down now.”
draco turned around, only to see you sitting down in your chair, who was just as confused as him. while he walked back to his seat, the professor eyed him, then started pacing slowly around the room while talking.
“now,” he began, “this here, is the mirror of erised.” you hear small giggles coming from the class room, followed by malfoy’s face turning a slight tint of pink.
“shove off!” malfoy yells, muttering to himself in annoyance. you of course, shared the same amount of embarrassment. you knew exactly what the mirror of erised was, and so did most people in this room. it made you visualize what you truly desired, so the fact that draco malfoy had seen you in the reflection, was quite a surprise.
“every student will have a chance to take a look, so don’t worry too much. please form a single file line, and we will begin.”
“you’re kidding,” cedric snickers, covering his mouth with his hand. cedric was an awful good friend of yours, being the first person to offer you a seat when you had gotten sorted into hufflepuff. quite ironic, really. you never imagined yourself to be put into such a happy little house.
“honestly? i wish i was. draco can be such a little prick,” you remarked, sipping at your butterbeer. students gathered in the three broom sticks, the familiar scent of sweat emanating from the hufflepuff and slytherin quidditch team. the slytherin house had just received a bitter defeat, causing them to throw glares at the opposing team.
“so what are you gonna do about it then? talk to him?” cedric questioned you, and you shrugged shoulders. you were at a loss for what to do about malfoy. you were unsure if he was even worth talking to, after all the constant negative comments that he just loved to yell at you.
“do i wanna talk to him?” you asked, crossing your legs while you sat in your chair. cedric raised a brow, “am i supposed to answer that question?”
“no,” you sighed, crossing your arms over your chest. being friends with cedric had it’s pros and it’s cons, but he gave a good amount of advice and he was always reliable. you hear a call for cedric’s name coming from the crowd of boys and girls, his eyes shoot to the group.
“what is it?” he says back, standing up from his chair.
“come on then, we’re playing 7 minutes in heaven!”
such a childish game, you thought to yourself. it surprised you that people were still interested in playing. cedric looked to you, then back at the group, “i won’t go if you won’t go.”
“what a flirt,” you say with a hint of a sarcastic tone. you playfully kick his leg, making him yelp, “i’m just trying to be nice!”
“well i’m surely not going,” you responded, taking a sip from your drink again. cedric’s grey eyes bored into your own, he smelt of chocolate mixed with his clean shampoo.
“don’t be such a wussy, mudblood,” you hear a familiar voice snarl. you snap your head to see draco, standing in the middle of the crowd, laughing with his group of friends. you felt a surge of anger, and cedric took note of it. he quickly grabbed your hand, pulling you up from your chair.
“y/n and i will be participating!” cedric announces , dragging you to the group of people gathered around a table.
“cedric! what in god’s name are you doing?” you exclaim, desperately trying to escape from his strong grip. “ow ow ow, could you at least be a little gentler?”
“this is your chance, if you get paired up with someone, you’ll see malfoy’s reaction,” he whispers closely into your ear. when the two of you stop in front of the group, you swear you can practically hear how badly the other girls wanted cedric to be their partner.
“what if i don’t want to see his reaction?” you complained back, and cedric patted your head. “then too bad.”
“alright everyone, the rules are simple; a person is selected to spin the bottle. whoever the bottle lands on, those two will go into the backrooms together. would anyone like to go first?”
“y/n does,” cedric yells, slightly pushing you forward. you scowl at him, in return he sends you a shit-eating grin. you wanted nothing more than to wipe that stupid smile off his face, but you stayed civil for the sake of the others gathered around you.
“alright y/n, go on,” blaise says, placing the bottle on the table. you gave cedric the “i’m going to kill you when this is over” look as you sighed, placing your hand on the bottle. you span it, watching as the boys began to shift awkwardly.
you nearly gag when the bottle lands on the one person you did not want to share a small, closed room with. people coo, laughing and making immature comments. draco malfoy shoves his friend, threatening him.
“i’m not entering a closet with that mudblood,” he scoffs, pointing at you disrespectfully. you stop yourself from punching malfoy, instead you say, “look who’s scared now.”
“what did you just say?” draco hissed, taking a step closer to you. “why would i be scared.”
you dust off his robe in a mocking way, smiling at him. “you tell me, malfoy.”
whispers filled the room, as if everyone was waiting for draco to explode. he took a deep breath, grabbing your arm aggressively. people eyed the both of you as he brought you to the backrooms, knowing hell would break loose with you two alone.
seven minutes, alone with draco. what could go wrong?
when you two stepped into the small space, you went to the farthest point of the room. it was littered with cleaning supplies and smelt a little bit like bleach. draco stared at you, and you looked back. “what do you want?”
“you think i wanted to do this?” draco spat at you, leaning back on the wall.
“and how do you think i feel?” you said back, throwing a scrunched up paper towel at him. “as if i wanted to be in a room with you. you’re annoying, stuck up, and a spoiled brat.”
“wow, who would think that a bitch would get sorted into hufflepuff,” he says sarcastically.
“got a lot to say for someone who saw me in the mirror of erised,” you retort, fanning your face. it was getting quite warm in this tight space.
“it was probably a mistake, who would desire you anyway,” he retaliates getting closer to you. you take a step closer to him as well, your faces nearly touching.
“you’d be surprised,” you argue. you two were so close that you could make out the details of his face. you could see something flash in his eyes, it didn’t look like anger, but you chose to believe that it was.
“do you ever stop talking? just shut up already. i’ve had enough of hearing your voice.”
you scoff, looking down at your feet, then looking back up into draco’s eyes. in all honesty, you didn’t know what to expect after saying this. you felt your hands shaking a little bit, ignoring the adrenaline pumping through you
“make me.”
in that moment, you swear you heard your own heart beating. did you want this? did draco understand what you were hinting at? your questions were soon answered when draco pushes you up against the wall, taking your hands and pinning them above your head.
“i’ll make you, alright,” he smirks, placing kisses along your jawline. he presses his knee between your legs. he kisses your neck, sucking on the skin. you let out a breathy whine, trying to bring your arms down to wrap around draco’s neck, but he keeps your hands in place.
“you want this, don’t you?” he whispers, leaving more marks on your neck.
“mhm, yes draco,” you say back, feeling yourself growing wetter.
“good girl.”
he smashes his own lips against yours, his actions filled with need and passion. he slightly bites on your bottom lip, looking into your eyes. he breaks the kiss, letting go off your hands. he undoes his belt, pulling his pants down slightly, but not all the way.
“we haven’t got much time,” he says, dragging his thumb along your cheek. he touches your bottom lip, and you open your mouth in response, sucking on his thumb.
“fuck,” he groans, watching you with lust filled eyes. “you’re so hot.” he removes his thumb from your mouth, and you lower yourself to his boxers, tugging down the fabric. his member springs free, and he lets out a hiss from the sudden contact of air.
you smirk, licking a stripe. draco moans, grabbing onto the shelf above him. you begin to take him in, swirling your tongue around him. his size was about average, but on the thicker side. he grunts as you hollow your cheeks.
“oh fuck, just like that,” he groans. the tip of his dick touches the back of your throat, making you gag. he moans, but louder this time as he grabs your hair. your eyes start forming tears, but you hold them back.
you hollow out your cheeks, slowly moving back and forth.
“god, y/n, you’re so pretty even when you’re sucking my dick,” he says, lost in the moment as you continue to move faster, using your hands on whatever didn’t fit in your mouth. you feel your lips getting swollen as you continue to move faster.
“look at you,” he groans, his face full of pleasure as he looks down at you. “such a fucking good girl.”
you feel his member twitch in your mouth, and you knew he was close to finishing. you took this as a chance to move faster, bobbing your head as fast as you could.
he groans, panting your name as he used your hair to guide how to move.
“i’m gonna come,” he says breathily, “fuck!”
he comes in your mouth, but you don’t mind. it’s not the worst that could happen, after all. you stand up, wiping your mouth as draco is leaning against the wall. he doesn’t rest for long though, as he grabs your waist, pulling you close to him.
“your turn,” he whispers, pushing your skirt up and slipping a hand into your exposed panties. he feels around your wetness, collecting it and bringing it out.
“mm, did i do this?” he asks, and you whimper a “yes”.
he slips his hand back in, finding your bundle of nerves and rubbing them slowly. you gasp, gripping at his jacket and biting on his shoulder. he chuckles, dragging a finger down to insert into you. he pushes in slowly, and you bite down harder, not wanting to make too much noise.
“no no, i don’t want you to be quiet, i want to see your face,” draco says, using his free hand to grab your chin and make you look at him. “that’s right, let me see how you feel.”
he pushes in and out of your heat at a steady pace, the room smelt of sex and his cologne. you were a moaning mess as draco continued his motions, bringing in another finger.
“does that feel good?” draco asks, and you nod in response. “i want your words, baby.”
“y-yes draco, please don’t stop,” you say quietly, screwing your eyes shut.
“oh baby, i wasn’t planning on it,” he replies, entering a third finger and thrusting faster. at this point, you’re pretty much a moaning mess. the feeling of his long slender fingers was so much to handle, you felt yourself building up to your climax.
“that’s right baby, fuck, you’re clenching around my fingers,” he smirks, knowing that you were going to come. “i want you to say my name. tell people who’s making you feel this good.”
“it’s you, draco, oh my god!” you yelp, the fabric of his robe was bunching up in your hands. suddenly, your orgasm washes over you, your stomach moving in twists and turns. you felt so relieved, draco removed his hand, his fingers covered in your juices. all that could be heard was the sound of you and draco’s heavy breathing.
a knock comes from outside the room, “guys? it’s been over seven minutes.”

Hello idk if the requests are still going but if not then its okay ignore this and if they are please don't over work yourself and you don't need to do my request if you don't want to just stay healthy and eat well and drink lots of water we all live your work (and are simps for corpse-)
The ask : could I ask for a corpse husband x reader where they used to get shipped together before they even meet each other and when they meet each other corpse goes soft for reader and they play two rounds In among us together where they are imposters together and corpse is an imposter alone in the other round
Reader info : reader has a very soft voice and is a softie and the pronounce is she/her or they/them ( as you wish)
Again you don't gotta do it if you don't want to
Thanks so much for the ask, An. I was feeling like shit and this was a lot of fun to write. I’m sorry though, I completely read over the part where the reader was supposed to have a soft voice. I’ll see if I can make another one with this specification sometime. Also, I wrote this rather quickly because I’m watching Twilight for the first time and now my feelings are hurt.
#CorpseBride - Oneshot
Pairings: Corpse / Reader
Twitter wasn’t really your forte, but you knew how to get around. It’s just that you never really had the time to check it, let alone to see what’s on the trending page every single day. At the very least, you were capable of replying to your friends’ stuff and letting your viewers know when you were streaming or when a new video would be up. Again, you weren’t a pro, but you got by.
Until you didn’t.
“Hey, everyone,” you greeted, and immediately went to change your Among Us figure to its usual colour and outfit before someone else took it.
Everyone welcomed you, while it seemed Toast was still busy trying to get a last person to join.
“Whaddup, baby,” Corpse’s shot out from the rest of them. It was pure teasing, something he’d grown quite comfortable with ever since people had blatantly started simping for his voice. “Nothing much, honey. How’ve you been?” You cheekily replied. “Pretty good. Streaming still makes me nervous, though.” “You greeted me with ‘Whaddup, baby’ and then proceed to tell me you’re nervous? Don’t get upset when I say that I don’t believe you.” He chuckled at that.
5… 4… 3… 2… 1…
Impostor
“Ha!” you called out, “I doubt this will soothe your nerves, Corpse. You’re teamed up with me now.” You sneaked in a glance at chat. “We are not an old married couple! If anything, he can be my bitch for this round. I’m just not gonna murder anyone.”
And that’s basically how it went. He managed to kill three people and still wasn’t being sussed. “Alright, I think I’ve tortured him enough,” you laughed, “I’ll even spare Sykkuno for the man.”
You managed to corner Toast and killed him in a corner where the water wheels were, before heading out into admin. You vented until you found Corpse in Labs and jumped out. It was right when Sykkuno walked in.
“Oh, god no. Please, Sykkuno.”
Your kill count still wasn’t down yet and he was obviously planning to run straight out the door to hit the emergency button, but he was stopped. Corpse had murdered him in an instant.
Your mouth was hanging open. “Did… Did he just kill Sykkuno for me?” Chat was going absolutely wild. “What the fuck just happened?” You decided to report the body anyway.
“I can’t fucking believe it,” Corpse growled, “Not my best friend, Sykkuno.”
You had to mute yourself to keep the laughter at bay. Corpse evidently vouched for you, saying you’d walked in on the body together. Felix was sussed and voted out.
“Corpse, you killed me!” Sykkuno cried out.
“I’m so sorry, Sykkuno! I wanted to spare you but you walked in at the wrong time!” You pleaded.
“Sacrifices had to be made,” Corpse merely responded.
“Wait, what happened?” Sean asked.
“I walked in on one of them venting and then Corpse killed me!”
“Collateral damage. You watched me get killed one time, too.”
“Blame me, Sykkuno. It was my fault,” but you were laughing as you said it.
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard such regret coming from an imposter,” Sean laughed along, “Also, why the fuck were you two being so slow? Three meetings in and you’d only killed three people.”
“Corpse was simping for me,” you replied.
“I was not.”
“Yes, you were. Otherwise you would’ve asked me what the hell I’d been doing that entire time.”
“Fuck off,” he laughed.
“Corpse is an UWU-boy!”
“Oh my god, you guys are already trending.”
“Wait, what?”
Your phone was being blasted off to space, getting tons of messages with the hashtag #CorpseBride. It was number 1 trending on Twitter.
“So… whaddup, baby?”
“Oh no, you better buy me a drink first.”
“Sure.”
You hadn’t thought he’d been serious in that moment, until he’d asked you to meet up after the game had ended. You hesitantly agreed, but reminded him that he absolutely did not have to participate in this just for the meme. “I’m not doing this for the meme,” he’d said, “I’ve been wanting to ask you out for a while, I just never knew how. It seemed like the perfect timing.”
You met him at his apartment, knowing how he was about going out in public, and feeling extremely nervous. You’d brought takeout, and because you hadn’t been sure what he wanted you’d ordered way too much. Upon opening the door, he looked at you, down at the bag, and said, “Shit, you got food?” Not really knowing what else to say, you simply replied, “Uh, yeah.”
“Well, I guess we’ll have lots of leftovers, then.”
He smiled, gave you a hug that ended way too fast and left you paralyzed for a minute, and then invited you in. It turned out he’d already ordered food, too. “Plenty to choose from,” he laughed awkwardly. “Uh… You got any neighbours who might want some?” you asked.
“I-I don’t really talk to anyone outside of my friend group.”
“Oh, of course. I could go around, if you’d like.”
“You’d do that for me?”
You furrowed your brows. “Of course I would. Why not?”
“Alright, but let me at least come with you. You just do the talking.”
Three knocks at three different doors later, and someone accepted the offer and took over some of the food. “Hang on a minute,” the elderly man said, clad in only his pyjamas and a bathrobe, managing to make the situation even more uncomfortable, “Aren’t you my neighbour? You always scurry off before I get the chance to talk to you!”
You looked at Corpse, and he back at you, and you turned back to the elderly man. “He, uh… He’s very people shy. He has anxiety. I’m trying to help him cope. Also, his vocal chords are damaged.” Nothing you’d said so far had been a lie, technically, but the man still remained sceptical. “Then why didn’t you just leave a note or something?”
“Uh…” you jumped at the small voice appearing from behind you. It’s just that his ‘small voice’ is still nothing close to small. “I know, I’m terribly sorry, sir. I also just wanted to let you know that if you ever need anything, I’m just a few doors away.”
This seemed to please the man enough.
“I can’t believe you made me do that.”
“I made you?!” You gasped, “I didn’t make you do anything, you filthy liar! You’re just as bad in real life as in Among Us, when you’re the impostor and I’m the innocent crewmate.”
“I didn’t even ask you a question.”
“Deadass?”
“Deadass.”
You both laughed. Corpse hesitated for just a moment, but decided to ask anyway, “Were you nervous when I opened the door?”
You chuckled awkwardly, admitting, “Yeah, I was. I always get anxious meeting people. Well, we’d met before, of course. But just, you know, in real life.”
“I get it.”
You stood there in silence for a moment, until you noticed the rest of the takeout in your hands was getting cold. “Come on, wife,” he joked, linking his pinkie finger with yours, “Let me get you that drink.”
If he hadn’t dragged you along then and there, you could’ve sworn your knees would’ve given out.
