#because the other loki variant IS dangerous

It's time for me to admit something.
I am still a bit confused about how back in the beginning of the Loki series Mobius is introduced to us as "special[ising] in the pursuit of dangerous Variants." But like. That doesn't seem to be a thing that the TVA really... do? They mostly seem to spot nexus events and pop to the new branch and prune it, bringing back the person who caused that nexus event to give them a show-trial and then prune them too.
There's no reason they can't do more than one thing, but what exactly are "dangerous variants"? From the TVA perspective they're all equally troublesome, and they'll be picked up as soon as they do something 'wrong', and the TVA/HWR don't actually care about the moral value or otherwise of that 'wrong' thing. Have I got that right?
They're chasing Sylvie but a) she's targeting the TVA themselves and b) she's got a means to travel from one timeline to another, which she got from the TVA and unless those get stolen a lot..
I'm willing to just roll with it anyway if it doesn't really fit but what am I missing here? EXPLAIN. (pls?)

I don't trust you
Tumblr media
TVA!Loki x Hunter!Fem!Reader
Summary: You are Hunter A9 and you work alongside Hunter B15. When Loki arrives at the TVA you seem reluctant to trust him but Mobius assures you that he is not as bad as he seems.
Warnings: smut with plot, p in v, biting, unprotect sex, fingering, (reader is not a virgin but she thinks so because they erased her memory), mirror sex kinda, overstimulation i think, enemies to lovers trope, fight, angst (mentions of Loki's past), death (mention of Frigga's death), Loki being a brat, teasing, not proofread
A/N: This takes place in season 1 of course. You can watch this video of a a fight training to see where I got inspiration from
WC: 6k (oops!)
Tumblr media
You walked through the halls of the TVA together with your partner B-15. Both had been informed of an alert, a variant had been admitted to headquarters and was waiting in a room along with Mobius. Your job as a hunter, like many others, consisted of pruning the variants of the timelines to preserve the timeline intact, you were loyal to your job and you did it without mercy. That's why you were surprised that even that variant has not been pruned
"I don't understand why the variant is still here and what do we have to do with all this"-you muttered under your breath, chewing the words with visible annoyance.
"I don't like any of this either, but Mobius will have his reasons"-said b-15 next to you
They continued walking, marching in a military style until they reached the room where Mobius and that guy were. In the middle there was an orange projector and Agent Mobius was sitting in front of a man with short black hair with his arms crossed. Even though he was sitting down, you could tell that he was tall, he had a frown on his face and looked around skeptically. You noticed that he had that collar on his neck where you could control him with the tempad, good, that would make things easier. Mobius, upon noticing the presence of the two of you, stood up and approached you with an outstretched arm, introducing you.
"Loki, they are hunter B-15 and hunter A-9. A-9, B-15, he is Loki Laufeyson"
"That's great, let's see if they can get me out of here."-Loki said with poisonous sarcasm.
You stood straight and firm with your chin raised showing defiance and threat. You had never let any variant, no matter how dangerous it seemed, scare you, fear was for the weak. Always show courage in the face of the enemy, never show fear, that would only make you look like easy prey. Your face and that of your fellow hunter showed displeasure and anger while Loki's showed contempt and little desire to want to be there.
To end the tension that had been installed and that seemed like it could be cut with a knife, Mobius clarified things.
"I know this looks bad, I know. But I have a hunch, I think Loki could help us find the other variant"
B-15 let out a chuckle as he shook his head in disbelief, you just felt your body boil and the frown on your face deepened. This was not how things were done in the TVA, you couldn't break the rules, this would cause a lot of problems.
"Mobius, that variant should be pruned right now and sent into the void!! That's how things work, we're not playing cops and robbers"-you spat with your lips trembling with anger
Mobius looked at the ground in silence, meditating on his words while Loki looked at you with arrogance, which made your blood boil even more. You could barely contain yourself. Who did he think he was? Before a catastrophe could happen, Mobius returned to the attack.
"Please give me this chance, just this one. I have reason to believe that the other variant that is on the loose is a variant of Loki, we know that he is much more cunning and threatening than him but with Loki at our side we can face him"
When Loki heard that he jumped from his seat, offended, pointing a finger at Mobius.
"Hey! How dare you? You have no idea what I'm capable of doing."
Then he approached him defiantly and you took a step forward with your hand about to draw your staff but B-15 stopped you by the arm and Mobius simply pressed a button on his timepad and Loki returned to the place where he was before, falling clumsily to the ground, Snorting angrily, he tossed his hair back and gave Mobius a murderous look.
"A-9 is right, why should we trust him? He doesn't even seem to want to cooperate."
Mobius gave a long sigh before continuing.
"Look, I know you don't trust Loki, but you trust me, right? So I beg you to let me try, just give me a few minutes to try to persuade him. I'll take care of it, he will be in my custody."
You looked at B-15 who gave you an unconvinced look, then you looked at Loki with displeasure and then you looked at Mobius again, he seemed really desperate and he was expecting an affirmative response from you, you felt sorry for him. You closed your eyes taking a deep breath.
"It's okay, if it's that important to you… but at any sign of bad behavior you know I'll prune him."-you said, feeling your staff while Loki raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, yes of course. I promise it won't cause any problems."
Mobius really seemed happy and relieved to have let him continue trying to reach some fruitful point with that odious variant, you didn't see what was special about it but anyway, you trusted Mobius, you knew he had a good sixth sense to read people and feel compassion. by them. The same couldn't be said about you, you preferred to stick to the rules and follow them. You and your partner left the room, leaving them alone.
"Alright, Loki, what do you think we do a review of your greatest hits?"
Mobius turned on the projector and Loki's bruised face appeared on the screen with several cuts on his forehead and nose, he was lying on the floor of Stark tower. It was the battle of New York, of course. Loki looked away from the screen feeling humiliated while Mobius seemed to enjoy it taking a sip from his can with a smile.
"Why show me this? I already know what happened, I was there."-He said with a hand on his forehead, grumpy.
"I just want to understand why you do what you do."
"You're lying.."
"No, I mean it. I want to know what drives you to act"
"Ah, I see"
Loki rose from his seat, circling like a vulture while placing his hands on his hips, looking at the ceiling with growing impatience.
"This is nothing more than a vile trick, an illusion created by the weak to instill fear, believing they are the owners of the place with great power over time"
"We are"
"No, I make my own decisions, I choose my own destiny, not you."-Loki said putting emphasis on the "I"
"Ok whatever you say, but I think you'll want to see this."
Mobius pressed the button again and a Loki with his horned helmet and a scepter with a bright blue gem on it was projected onto the wall. He spoke with great intimidation and proclaimed that the people should bow before him.
"That's what I mean! I'm so close to claiming what's mine! And it will be because I decided that way and not because this stupid place or whatever this is allowed it-"
Mobius quickly interrupted Loki "Ah, ah, ah, I'm not done yet."
The agent pressed the button again and now the image showed Loki going to a cell in Asgard and his mother Frigga. Surprise and confusion appeared on Loki's face, the images continued to pass and Loki saw his own mother arguing with his other self, he approached slowly and silently towards the screen.
"This is not true, this never happened"
"Not yet, look, the TVA not only knows your entire past, it also knows your future and this is what had to happen if you didn't take the tesseract."
Now the screen showed Frigga immobilized by a dark elf, without warning the elf thrust a sword into Frigga's back, mortally wounding her. Terror spread across Loki's face as he stepped back, trying to process what he had just seen.
"This is a trick…"-he said in a broken whisper
"No, no and no. This is what was supposed to happen, that's how the sacred timeline wanted it."
"It's a lie! You're lying!"-Loki's voice cracked with pain as tears wet his eyes.
"Oh so your mother being dead is a lie too?"
Loki tensed his jaw showing his teeth as he lunged at Mobius who with a quick movement of his hand took the tempad out of his pocket and returned Loki to his place, he fell on his butt.
"Do you really like causing pain? Do you enjoy hurting people? Because it seem like you were made for that"
Loki clenched his teeth to keep from letting the tears escape. Mobius extended his hand helping him up.
"I'm sorry, but that's how things work here."
Before Loki could say anything the doors opened and you appeared with your uniform and your characteristic frown. something bad had happened
"Are you done with the variant?"-You said with a contemptuous tone.
"Not yet, why do you come to interrupt?"
"We need you now, something serious happened"-you said, looking askance at Loki.
"Ugh not again.. Loki I'll be right back, don't do anything stupid while I'm gone"
You and Mobius walked out of the room through the hallways to talk alone while leaving Loki unsupervised. You walked in a hurry with more bad temper than usual while Mobius followed you closely like a dog. When you both made sure that no one could hear you, you turned around abruptly, startling him.
"Mobius we cannot afford more interruptions, something must be done with that variant"
"But why? We were making great progress and-"
"We have lost another unit!" - you exclaimed aggressively.
Mobius suddenly fell down, realizing the seriousness of the matter. You looked down, deciding what to say.
"I know I promised you I would give you a chance but you are compromising my work. We need to prune that variant.."
Mobius put a hand to his mouth thoughtfully. You didn't want to let your friend down, but there were more serious matters to worry about with this Loki guy, and if Mobius didn't let you do what you did best, the entire TVA would explode into chaos and you would lose your job. He was putting you between a rock and a hard place and you had to make the right decision, which is always the most difficult.
"Okay, you're right, I'll see what to do with him in the meantime, show me where the unit's casualties have been. Just let me talk to him first."
You nodded, sighing, but your patience was running out. Mobius sensed that, so he quickly returned to where Loki was. But when he opened the door he saw no one. He quickly looked for his tempad and realized that he didn't have it, of course, he had left it on the table before leaving and Loki took it.
"Son of a.."
Meanwhile, Loki, with the use of the tempad, was able to escape from the room and appeared in the hallways ready to leave that infernal place once and for all. He walked confused, trying to get his bearings and hiding without being seen.
"YOU DID WHAT?!"
Your eyes wanted to pop out of your sockets while your jaw tensed and you clenched your fists in anger, so hard that you felt the burning sting of your nails digging into your flesh. Mobius tried to reassure you by repeating that Loki couldn't have gone far. You didn't want to hear it, now the variant was out there because of him and that's how you let him know.
"Well in theory if you hadn't interrupted us…"
"Are you kidding me?!"
B-15 hearing the news asked the exact details, you furiously explained how Mobius had let Loki escape, he put his hands in his pockets looking down embarrassed saying it was an accident. The B-15 hunter quickly gathered several hunters and they separated into groups.
"Ok, Mobius you are coming with me and you A-9 are going with-"
"Alone. Understood."-you said activating your cane
"No wait, don't go!"
You were already running when B-15 shouted the order to you. You could do this alone, you didn't need anyone, you would take care of that annoying variant once and for all as you should have done from the beginning. Mobius was too innocent and easily trusted others, but not you. With your pruning stick ready in your hand, gripping it tightly, you marched with long, hurried steps through the halls of the TVA looking for the damned one.
"Where are you you damn bastard..."
You continued walking through the wide hallways of the great place, looking for him everywhere. You turned your head to the side and saw him. Finally. Loki was going to enter the offices. With a predatory and threatening look you ran towards him
"Hey!! Stop there!"
Loki turned around, making his curls fly like black whips. His eyes narrowed and a mischievous smile threatened to appear at the corners, he was studying you. With sure steps he moved away from the door and stood tall with his arms on his hips.
"You've come this far, variant" - you said, spinning the cane between your fingers.
Loki let out an airy laugh.
"Oh, I'm so scared"-he said ironically without stopping looking at you- "By the way, you're the pretty girl who was with the other hunter. What was her name? B-15, right?"
Your piercing gaze was still fixed on him, you didn't want to let your guard down even because of those cheap flattery that were coming out of his mouth. You were not an easy girl given to bending her arm
"Enough talk"
You brandished your staff and moved in to attack. Your arm delivered an accurate blow towards his face with the back of the staff that made Loki turn his face to the side, making his hair fly. You wasted no time and pushed your other arm with your fist going directly to his face but he composed himself and blocked your blow with the back of his arm, you raised your leg to kick him but he ducked and kicked you in the stomach sending you backwards. You fell with your hands resting on the floor, you looked at him just as he sat up slightly, throwing his hair back. Small strands of unruly hair stuck to your forehead and you stood up agitated without giving up yet. With even more fury you grabbed your cane and hit him in the stomach, he grabbed you from behind, immobilizing you with a key on your neck.
"I didn't know you could fight so well, I like that"-Loki gasped, breathing exhausted but with a smile on his face.
You squirmed, grunting, under his arm but he held you firmly.
"Maybe after this you can teach me a move or two."
You decided that you had had enough and you elbowed him hard in the ribs. Loki, growling, released you from his grip and bent over, clutching his stomach, which you took advantage of to raise and put your leg over his nape. Surprised, Loki stood up, you wrapped your other leg over his neck, to which he held them, trying to get you off of him, but you quickly turned your trunk and with the strength of your thighs, you sent him to the ground, pushing him hard. Loki did a somersault and stayed there lying on the floor on his back with a grimace of pain clenching his teeth. You stood up with ease with your cane ready to prune him.
"What do you think of a move like that?"
With two hands you held the cane and a smile filled your lips, you bit and lightly sucked your lower lip with satisfaction, you would finally put an end to all your problems by making him disappear. You got dangerously close to Loki who was leaning on his elbows with a pitiful moan, you raised your arms, raising the staff to collide with Loki when a voice behind you froze you.
"There you are!"
You turned around in surprise and saw Mobius and B-15 along with other hunters running towards you. You lowered the cane towards your waist line, looking at Loki in frustration. You were so close. Mobius came to your side to see the scene, Loki was lying on the floor breathing heavily and your forehead was sweaty and you held the staff in your hands until it hurt.
"Looks like you two had fun."
You rolled your eyes as Mobius helped Loki up. You reluctantly deactivated your cane, missing the opportunity to prune him. Again
"My congratulations to your unit team. You have soldiers who hit hard"-Loki said still in pain but with a lopsided smile.
You looked at him wanting to gut him, did he still have the energy to joke? Mobius giggled until he met your angry face and turned serious.
"Listen Loki, we don't have time, something happened and I need your help, you have to come with me yes or yes. I won't take no for an answer. If not, you already know what will happen if you don't cooperate."-He said pointing at you with his thumb.
Loki looked at you, narrowing his eyes, meditating, he did so for a few long seconds, it seemed like he was trying to enter your soul. Loki understood that if he didn't go with Mobius and you he would find himself on the ground with bruises again, but you sensed that he didn't dislike that idea and you wondered why.
"Fine"-Loki finally said
"Perfect! Come, you have to change your clothes, now you're an agent."
Mobius took Loki away, placing a hand on his back, the variant turned around but his gaze remained on you until they were far enough away for you to leave his field of vision. You and B-15 left the hallways, preparing to go to the place where the last hunters had been. While they walked at a safe pace, Hunter B-15 gave you suspicious glances but you had your eyes fixed on the front.
"Well? How did it go?"
"What do you think?"-you said sharply
"Yeah, it's a shame. On the other hand, Loki seemed very interested in you."
"What the hell are you talking about?"-you asked with a grimace
"Oh please, didn't you notice how he looked at you?"
"With hate?"
"No" -she laughed- "Quite the opposite, I think he likes you."
"Excuse me?"
You said as you stopped in your tracks and turned to face her, she imitated you.
"You're wrong"
"And if I'm not? What do you bet?"-She said with her arms on her hips, looking at you funny.
"Are you seriously going to turn this into a bet? Fine, if you win I'll share my lunch with you for a week but if I win you'll have to give me an extra helping of chocolates from the vending machine."
B-15 was about to extend his hand to seal the deal when you raised a finger.
"For two weeks"
B-15 looked at you reproachfully, thinking whether to accept or not, but then he reached out and pressed his hand against yours.
"It's a deal"
You smiled pleased
You and B-15 were waiting for Loki and Mobius to transport you to the indicated place, your thoughts revolved around Loki and your mission, why was it so difficult to prune him? Had Mobius grown so fond of Loki that he could prevent you from doing your job correctly? You always stood out for being efficient and loyal to the TVA, this was your life, you didn't remember anything else and you liked it that way, or rather you had gotten used to it that way. You couldn't imagine anything better, you couldn't imagine another life outside of that place. You were so focused that you didn't realize that Loki and Mobius were already ready, B-15 elbowed you. When you turned your head to see them you raised an eyebrow, Loki was wearing a uniform of a brown jacket and tie that matched his pants, his neatly buttoned white shirt was tight and adjusted to his body, making his pecs noticeable. You decided that this suit fit him better and accentuated his slender figure unlike his old variant suit which was a bit baggy. Loki came to your side, adjusting the lapels of his jacket, lifting them up and smiling at you, you rolled your eyes.
"Well, we can go now" -and then he whispered to B-15- "Before these two kill each other"
"I wouldn't be so sure about that"-she whispered conspiratorially.
Even though they were whispering, they were right behind you so you turned your head, looking at them angrily, frowning. Before they passed through the portal, Loki offered you to go first with an outstretched hand.
"Ladies first"-he said smiling
"I was going to pass first anyway."-You said unmoved, entering through the portal.
The others followed behind you and soon they arrived at what seemed to be a Renaissance fair. There were several circus tents with pennants hanging from ropes that ran from right to left throughout the place. People dressed in period clothing, men in tunics and women in corseted dresses walked around looking at you intrigued. You entered a tent, there were helmets lying on the grass, the place looked like a massacre with things lying around and bodies lying motionless on the ground. You dropped your temp and saw a red line flashing
"There is nothing here, split up and look for that variant"
You put away your tempad and were about to leave the tent along with the others when Loki, who had stayed behind motionless looking at the ground, caught your attention.
"Wait, don't leave the tent, it's a trap."
Mobius turned around. "How are you so sure?"
Loki walked slowly around the room in a theatrical manner, taking his time to speak to create suspense and gain their attention.
"There is a saying in Asgard…Where there are wolf ears, there are wolf teeth, it means that you should pay attention to your surroundings"
You laughed sarcastically. “Please do you want us to believe that?”
"Wait let him finish talking."-mobius said stopping you with his hand
"You look like the people in my town, so gullible, underestimating others. Luckily I was smarter than them"
"We are running out of time" - You warned Mobius
"Loki what's your point?"-he rushed him
"My point is that this variant is waiting for you outside but I can go out and talk to that other Loki, he fervently believes that together we will overthrow the TVA. I can stop him, but with certain conditions.."
"And what would those conditions be?"-You approached him defiantly.
"Guess that I will be able to return to Earth and fulfill my purpose, and I think I will have to talk to the time keepers, they are in more danger than they imagine."
You put your arms on your hips, breathing deeply in frustration, you couldn't believe how filthy this variant was in front of you. Mobius sat in silence for a few seconds until he finally gave his verdict.
"Bravo Loki, you almost fooled me" -Mobius looked at the others - "He's fooling us, there's no one outside"
Annoyed at having wasted your time, you left the tent with the other hunters, but before leaving, B-15 placed a device similar to an oil lamp on the ground, resetting the timeline as if nothing had happened.
Upon returning to the TVA you and Mobius had to endure a talkative Loki all the way, the previously grumpy and distrustful Loki had disappeared and in his place had left this hyperactive man with the attitude of a 5 year old child who ate a lot of sugar. Mobius, tired, went to take another elevator away from the two of you, leaving you with that unbearable variant that looked behind you with that characteristic mischievous smile of his.
"I hope you're happy, you fed up the only person who tolerates you in this place"-you said entering the elevator
"Oh, you don't like me then?"-He made a pitiful pout.
"Not even a little"-you said without hesitation
"I think that remains to be seen."
His stupid smile makes you sick, you hated his impudence and bragging, thinking he was the smart one in the place, when everyone knew that you and everyone at the TVA were the ones in control. But I also hated to hate him, you didn't know why, but that impertinent attitude he had filled you with adrenaline, made you feel as if you had a challenge to solve, an intriguing challenge. And you loved challenges
"Well, I hope you're done with your little tricks because we won't fall for them anymore."
Loki laughed and walked closer to you, standing in front of you to look at you.
"Aw it's so adorable that you think you're smarter than me, I'm always ten steps ahead."-He said, patting your shoulders and rubbing them, your muscles tensed nervously at this gesture.
"Don't touch me again."-you said, abruptly removing his hands from you.
The two remained silent until they reached some offices where Mobius was waiting for you two. He had gone ahead and was looking for some papers in a file. When he heard your footsteps he got up from the seat.
"Oh here you are, Loki, A-9 I want you to look for variant files, as many as you can find. I'm going to lunch."
Before leaving he addressed Loki especially.
"I hope you have fun, and some advice, search as if your life depended on it"
With that he walked away, leaving the two of you alone. Loki sighed boredly and sat in the seat that Mobius had left, reviewing papers. You sat in front of him doing the same. Loki seemed bored and didn't seem to take things seriously, muttering expletives and feigning surprise when he read something obvious, casually pushing the papers away. Tired of hearing him talk, you told him to shut up
"Shh!, you can shut up? "
Loki frowned and shushed you with a finger on his lips. Annoyed, you got up from the seat and stood next to him.
"Loki, this is serious, why don't you collaborate?
"What else do you want me to do? It's not my fault that you want to bore me to death."
"Stand up"-you barked the order
Loki reluctantly obeyed you, now that he was close to you and standing in front of you you realized how tall he was and you had to lift your chin until your neck hurt a little. You grabbed his arm firmly and led him away from the offices with a frown.
"Hey! where are you taking me?"
"Let's chat for a while"
Without flinching you guided him with a quick step towards the corridors looking for a place where you could talk alone without interruptions, after walking for a while and with Loki chattering like a confused parrot you arrived at the women's bathrooms that were under repairs, you pushed the door with your stood and they both entered.
"Why do we go into the women's bathroom?"
"You wish if you think I'll go into the men's bathroom. This one is cleaner"-you said with mocking laughter
"But..."
You turned around irritated to look at him.
"Ugh stop talking already!, don't be a coward!. And I will also tell you that you are, a useless person who only thinks about himself and doesn't take things seriously!"
You said as you tapped his chest with your index finger putting emphasis on the words, Loki was going to interrupt you when you called him a coward but he simply sighed with his arms on his hips looking at you intrigued.
"Why do you hate me so much? Why do you insist on pruning me?"
His words hit your face like a bucket of cold water and you were speechless for a few seconds, then your typical frown appeared, wrinkling your forehead.
"I- I don't.. hate you. I'm just doing my job!"you said touching your cane
"Oh right, I had forgotten, my bad"- he said smiling and placing a hand on his chest
"Seriously, Loki, what is happening is serious, we have never lost so many soldiers."- You said tired and worried, no longer wanting to fight.
Loki looked at you thoughtfully and then apologized to which you breathed a sigh of relief, relaxing your body, but when you lowered your guard, Loki approached and quickly took your cane that was on your belt.
"LOKI GIVE IT TO ME!
"Oh you want it? Then come get it."
You screamed in fury and desperation while Loki smiled triumphantly, spinning the staff in his hands. You lunged at him but Loki dodged you by moving to the side, Loki was faster and more agile than you thought and the worst thing was that he was considerably taller than you so Loki mocked you by raising the staff so you couldn't reach it. You jumped in a pathetic attempt to grab it.
"You'll have to do a lot more than that"- he laughed
In a moment of distraction you kneed him in the groin to which he bent forward, lowering his arm. You were about to grab your cane but he recovered quickly and with a growl pinned your arms.
"Enough"- he warned you
"You started!"- you said baring your teeth and trying to get out of his grasp.
"Enough of hitting me or-"
"Or what?! I'm not afraid of-"
Loki closed the distance and kissed you hard. You opened your eyes in surprise and then wrinkled your brow, you wanted to separate but the more time you spent on his lips the more you wanted to stay like that. You clung to the lapels of his shirt as he leaned closer to you and explored your mouth with his tongue. Your hands traveled to his hair and held onto his locks firmly, you gasped into his mouth from the shock. Loki pulled away from your mouth a little and hummed.
"We should do this more often, even your annoying frown disappeared from your face"- he teased you
You frowned annoying but a smile threatened to appear on your lips, you repressed it
"Oh no, there is"-he smiled mischievously
"I didn't tell you to stop"
You tugged at his lapels and crashed your lips against his again. His hands were on your hips squeezing them and your arms went around his neck. His nose was buried in your cheek at the proximity of his face. You ran your mouth over his lips to memorize them and remember them later, they felt soft and warm and were slightly swollen. Loki gently turned you so that you were facing the mirror and with your back against his chest. He began to place hot, wet kisses on your jaw and neck, you placed a hand in his hair to feel him closer. Loki buried his face and mouth in your skin while you tilted your head to the opposite side to give him more space. The fervent strength and passion that Loki put into his kisses made you moan softly. Suddenly Loki lowered a hand that was on your waist towards your belt, you opened your eyes wide and stopped him by grabbing his wrist firmly, he looked at you in surprise.
"Wait! what are you doing?"- you said with a bit of fear
"Calm down darling, I was just going to unbuckle your belt. I wasn't going to hurt you"
"The thing is.."- you said shyly
"I understand, I will be gentle"- He whispered to you and kissed your cheek delicately.
That calmed you down a little, you were embarrassed to admit that it was your first time, no one had touched you before and much less like Loki did, elegant and soft. Loki took off your belt and put one hand inside your pants, approaching your mons, with one finger he began to massage your clitoris over your underwear. You gasped in surprise and felt like you were going to fall but Loki firmed his grip on your hip. You watched in the mirror as Loki's hand did wonders on your sweet spot, you could barely keep your eyes open from the pleasure. When there was more confidence, Loki slid his fingers inside your underwear and began to pump in and out. You felt your legs shake and you threw your head back trying to stay upright, Loki didn't give you any respite and kissed and bit your neck while he worked his hand down there.
"L-Loki.. ahHhg"- you moan
"Look at you, how pretty you are, so needy for me and begging for me to touch you."
Loki's deep and hoarse voice made your breathing rise, you looked in the mirror. Your chest rose and fell and your face was flushed and sweaty, strands of hair stuck to your forehead and your neck glistened with sweat, Loki next to you and close to your neck looked at you in the reflection with a seductive look drunk with lust. and pleasure. Loki's fingers pumped faster and faster and your thighs began to tremble and your knees flexed a little, you breathed through your mouth.
"Oh my god... Loki-!"
Loki took his hand out of your soaked clit and kissed your hair, you looked at him annoyed and confused to which he smiled.
"Not yet, hold on a little longer for me"
You were going to protest but he lifted you up, grabbing your thighs and sat you on the counter near where the sinks were, a little cry of surprise came out of your mouth. A willing growl came from Loki.
"How delightful.."
You opened your mouth to say something but he silenced you with a hungry kiss, biting your lower lip while his hands traveled to where your protective breastplate was, unbuttoning it and taking it off, throwing it to the ground.
"This annoying uniform won't work for us now"
Loki opened your shirt, leaving your bust exposed and began to kiss and leave marks on it while his hands grabbed your pants and slowly lowered them. Your hands grabbed the back of his neck, panting and closing your eyes. It was the first time you were left speechless, especially in front of a man, but he was different from everyone else. You were thankful that there was no one in the bathroom but the two of you at that moment. Suddenly Loki separated and desire was drawn in his eyes.
"Are you… are you ready?"
You nodded and Loki pulled down your pants and your panties while he unbuttoned his own pants. You nervously saw how his cock stuck out of his boxers like a divine bulge, and when he pulled down his underwear you gasped in surprise. He smiled mischievously at you.
"Don't worry, I promised you I would be gentle."
He positioned himself right in the center of your entrance and asked you again if you were ready, you told him yes, you couldn't wait to feel and taste his warmth. He put the tip inside you and you moaned loudly clinging to the back of his neck, but it was just a scare, actually it didn't hurt you like you thought it would and that intrigued you.
"Did it hurt?"
You denied, surprised. "P-please continue.."
With your consent Loki entered you fully and you gasped loudly, you didn't think his size could fit inside you but it did. His thrusts touched you deep inside and your breathy screams echoed in the bathroom. Loki dug his fingers into your thighs, tensing his arms while you kept your chin resting on his shoulder, trying to keep up the pace and not speed up your breathing. At one point a strong thrust from him hit a sensitive spot inside you and with a whimper you bit his shoulder to which Loki growled.
Your body bounced and collided with the mirror behind you. Loki's grunts and gasps filled your ears and were driving you to your climax, while his cock hardened and your walls tightened around him, hugging him like a warm blanket. You dug your nails into his broad back, feeling like he was about to cum.
"N-norns.. ahg.. you're getting.. tight I can feel you're about to-to cum"
Loki's face tightened with effort while your breathing became faster and faster, your legs felt weak and your thighs trembled, everything was escalating quickly.
"Come on do it, do it for me ngh"
His voice broken by lust was what triggered your fluids to shoot out with a loud and pleasant moan and a tremor throughout your body. Loki threw his head back and came with you. You let your head fall on his chest exhausted and feeling weak. He put his arms around you, hugging you as you took a moment to catch your breath. Then Loki easily lifted you off the counter like a feather and straightened your clothes, you did the same with his. When they were ready, Loki saw that the staff had been left on the ground, he slowly picked it up with your eyes fixed on it, he held it in his hands for a while and then looked at you. There were a few seconds of silence in which only his heartbeat and yours could be heard. With relief you saw how he gave you the cane.
"I think this belongs to you"
You took it and for the first time in a long time you smiled genuinely, but your smile was erased in a second, you had remembered something.
"Oh shit..."
"What's wrong?"
"I owe my lunch to B-15, damn it"
Loki looked at you confused, frowning and you laughed softly.
"Nothing, it doesn't matter. Let's go back before they discover us, Mobius would have already finished eating"
You grabbed his hand and trotted towards the offices making sure not to be seen or heard. Maybe Mobius was right, maybe Loki wasn't as bad as he seemed.

Jet-Skiing through Identity: a deep dive into Mobius M. Mobius (part 1) 🚤
The story started when you said hello.
Tumblr media
Our first interaction with this character dates back almost three years now, on the 9th of June 2021. That was when the first episode of the Loki series was released.
So it goes: we see Mobius at the guiding side character, someone to follow in this vast new space the main character is suddenly thrown in. He is a calm, steady figure. However, his serious status as an analyst not cancelling a friendly character. The first ever shot in the series introduces Mobius under the sunlight. The following scenes show him speaking French to a little girl, proving a soothing behavior despite the tight situation they were in.
Tumblr media
For someone who works at the TVA, he shows to be quite open minded. He, of course, has a very analytical mind - while still considerating he could think outside the box, whereas other of his colleagues wouldn't accept that a box exists. Even having studied variants, having a focus point is Loki, and knowing the danger it would bring to have to trust one, he still gives this variant a chance. More than that, he takes full responsability for it: when Ravonna says: "If anything goes sideways, it's on you" he responds with a relaxed "Okay".
The first impression Mobius leaves is, therefore, one of a relaxed, almost joyful one.
Although meant to be playful, his response to Loki's threat to "burn this place to the ground" with a flippant "I'll show you my office, you can start there" hints at a potential underlying dissatisfaction with his own situation within the TVA.
But that's not all, and when the easygoing dialogue doesn't work to get under Loki's skin (which couldn't have happened so easily anyway) we get to see where studying variants brought Mobius: to knowing how to manipulate through emotions, using the information at his hands. The only way to get Loki talking was to shatter the illusion he was maintaining, and Mobius knew that. Being able to see this variant for what they truly are proves his smartness, but "lack" of empathy. However, it is more of a block than a lack- for the sake of efficiency- as a consequence of not only working, but living your entire life in the TVA. As a consequence to this, great strenght is also required to keep your true nature instead of just letting it be erased by time and the utter dedication to the time keepers- the only beings allowed to tell right from wrong. Mobius proves that strenght too.
Then, in the second episode of the series, the frame narrows down: from the big scheme to a lower one. Now, a more comfortable theme seems to be growing in the atmosphere between these two characters. We can see Loki sitting with his feet on a desk, magazine in hand, having a small quarrel with Miss Minutes. This is when we find out that Mobius still has more to introduce about himself. There is something that gets him closer to the viewers: having a personal interest with no specific corrrelation with the rest of the story: jet skis.
Going on the first mission of finding the rogue Loki variant (Sylvie, as she is later called) Mobius doesn't let himself be fooled away by Loki's silver tongue, even if in attempt to give him the chance he brought him in for, he almost gets into his play. "You almost had me for a second. My ears are sharp too" Therefore, this character with a first impression of a calm guide and a comic relief isn't to be underestimated. Just because he believes in his cause (collaborating with Loki to fin his variant) it doesn't make him a fool. -> If you have to courage to believe in something impossible, you also have the strength to make it possible.
There is also a soft jelaousy in his character; and seen not only in his attitude towards Loki finding an ally in Sylvie. It's there when talking to Ravonna Renslayer about "other analysts", and the traces left by them in her office.
This might appear as a personal pride, when for Mobius, it is more like a fear: he's afraid of being abandoned or replaced. (Remember the "Who's gonna miss an old analyst with a heart of gold" from season 2?) This internalized feeling therefore translates to the jelaousy we see on screen (or the blocking of emotions once again, but we'll get to that later).
Ravonna's "I know you have a soft spot for broken things" reveales how this character always cared, maybe more than he should have. This desire to help Loki get better (spoiler: he succeeds) is rooted in his own heart, in need of the same care he is giving away. -> Look at you comforting others with the words you wish to hear.
It also grows quickly into something more, that strictly has to do with this variant, a sympathy that is not put into words, but is seen in actions.
Tumblr media
He once again proves to be gentle with Loki, despite the latest mission not going the way he was supposed to. He's stubborn, still wanting to go his way even when there are so many others: safer, and that conform to the TVA. He wants to give Loki his daggers back (LOVE IS A DAGGER WHO?!?), clear proof that he is confident in what he is doing. While the potential consequences outweigh his previous actions , Mobius's determination stays the same.
The one unforeseen factor that disrupts his meticulously ordered plan is Loki's escape through the time door after Sylvie bombed the sacred timeline. For the first time, we see Mobius's cool crack, his frantic calls of "Loki!" echoing in vain.

I still want to know what the heck Freyja did to the other Loki, and that panel with the tesseract just reminded me of it...
Freyja gave Variant Loki the ability to have children 💙 as for the Tesseract, she’s strongly connected to it, in a bad and good way. Good because she can be good and can help people. Bad, because she has a human side which is weaker than the divine side, and the divine side can lead her to dangerous ambitions. To not forget that one of Mobius’ names is “Mr Tesseract” and we don’t know if it’s a good or evil version of his character (fandom assumed it’s evil, but I don’t really know the source of it)!

Ghost. - part 2: What I knew. Part 1 here - part 3 here PAIRING: TVA!LokixOC WARNINGS: none SUMMARY: Loki meets sombody at the TVA he once knew. Unfortunately she doesn't seem to remember him. NOTE: that was supposted to be a one-shot, but I felt like writing a second part.
Time at the TVA flows differently. It's the first thing you learn arriving there. For instance, the alternation between day and night wasn't clear because there was no sun.
Loki didn't know how much time had passed since their conversation. Nor did he know how much time had passed since he sat in front of her at the desk, under the pretense of wanting company while analyzing documents. Nor did he know how much time had passed since he had stopped working to stare at her.
"If you want to ask me something, just do it. You're unsettling."
Apparently, too much time.
The truth was he had no questions.
"I was just wondering what you were working on" Loki said.
Lydia glanced up at him before returning her gaze to the documents. "The same thing as you, more or less. Dangerous variant on the run." After all, they were in the same department, so they obviously worked on the same things.
"And do you like it?"
Midgard, 2012.
"I see you wavering more and more every day" she said with a mocking smile.
"My goals have never been so clear" Loki spat.
"Oh, if you say so, great and mighty god," Lydia taunted, taking a candy from the bag she held. Loki stared, wondering what it was and where she got it.
Lydia followed his gaze, offering him a candy. "Want one?"
Loki took it and sniffed it under her amused gaze before putting it in his mouth and immediately spitting it out, making her laugh.
"But it's disgusting, I've never eaten anything so sweet and sticky."
"I bet you wouldn't want to destroy the Earth anymore if you could enjoy the pleasures it has to offer," Lydia said with a laugh, putting another candy in her mouth. "Why do you want to destroy it anyway?"
"I don't intend to destroy it, I intend to rule it," Loki narrowed his eyes.
"And what will you do with a realm you don't even like?"
Loki straightened up, looking away, but didn't respond.
Something clicked in Lydia's mind. "Ohh," she turned to him, a little too close for the god's taste, "it's your plan B."
Loki ignored her, walking toward the room where they conducted experiments on the Tesseract, but she caught up.
"It was Asgard, the one you wanted to rule. A realm of gods, full of wealth and abundance. But without candies and where everyone hates you," Lydia acidly smiled, and Loki quickened his pace. "It seems fair, everyone should have a plan B." Lydia grabbed another candy.
Loki turned to her. "And what's yours, Miss Princhett?" he said challengingly.
Lydia looked ahead, toward the end of the hallway. "This. SHIELD is plan B."
Loki turned to her, confused by the admission. "And plan A?"
"Doctor, maybe. My mother would have liked that for sure. Or a history teacher, like my other mom."
Loki stared at her for a moment, and she returned the gaze. They were polar opposites. He fiercely desired something and would do anything to get it. She, on the other hand, settled. This difference became clear to both of them in that moment. Probably, they both believed they were right and simultaneously envied each other's capacity.
"Your mouth is covered in sugar," Loki said before walking away.
TVA, 2021.
"And do you like it?"
"What a strange question," Lydia tilted her head, wrinkling her nose. "It's my job. I do what I have to."
"But isn't there anything else you'd like to do?"
Lydia opened her mouth a couple of times, then looked down before speaking. "I would have liked to be a teacher, maybe a history teacher. I've always loved the subject" she replied sadly.
"Well, I suppose this gets you close," Loki gave her an encouraging smile.
"I suppose so," she looked up at him. "And you, Loki Prince of Asgard? What do you wanna be?"
"King, of course," he spread his arms theatrically.
"Of course," she repeated with an amused air, rolling her eyes. "And what will be your first royal decree?"
"Hiring a very well-informed history teacher at court," Loki approached her, leaning on the desk as if about to confess a secret, and Lydia mimicked him, finding herself face to face with his deep blue eyes. "And I already have someone in mind," he winked.
Lydia blushed, grabbed a folder, and rolled it up before using it to hit Loki on the head.
"Ouch," he complained, rubbing his head. "That hurt."
"Oh, don't be a baby," she straightened up in her chair. "Let's get back to work before our analysts come to scold us."
Loki smiled before returning his gaze to the papers.
----
Hope you enjoyed! Feel free to leave a heart, a note or to reblog, this really helps a lot. Part 3 in a couple of days.

Right, ok, philosophical meta time:
Loki had to do what he did!
Let's look at the last confrontation with HWR and go from there:
HWR: The coutcome to this equation remsins the same. You lose.
Loki: I know. I know.
HWR: Shake it off.
Loki: I'll change the equation. I'll break your loom.
HWR: But the loom prevents a brutal war. Where nothing survives. Not even the sacred timeline. Ok, let's try it this way: Every, every nonent of peace you've ever experienced was yours, because I was here. Alone. At the end of time. Keeping watch.
Loki: I understand.
HWR: If you're gonna break the loom, what do you think would happen to your friends?
Mhm, I made the tough choices, that's why I get the big chair. I keep us safe. Can't you see what I'm offering here is mercy?
Loki: For me? Or for you? No! I'll find another way.
HWR: OK. And around and around and around we go. Let's see. Make the hard choice. Break the loom and you cause a war that kills us all. Game over. Or kill her (Sylvie).
And we protect what we can. What are you gonna do?
So here's the dilemma:
The loom is actively killing branches, even if there is no tva, that steps in to prune. If no branches get pruned, the loom overloads and erases all the new branches. So with or without the loom, only the secret timeline exists.
HWR rigged the game in a way that Loki cannot win here. But something doesn't add up. If the loom overloads and deletes, there cannot be new Kangs emerging, even if Loki breaks the loom. With the loom acting as fail safe, there will only ever be the sacred timeline.
Because once broken, the loom destroys every branch and the sacred timeline just resets.
Meaning HWR incarcerated the whole universe, basically put it in a small corsett forever, and everytime a branch tries to break free, everyone on that branch dies.
Now, if Loki found a way to override the failsafe (which he did in the end) and free the universe, there is the danger of Kang variants showing up, destroying everything INCLUDING the sacred timeline.
So HWR's argument here is to better keep a tiny universe with a smaller amount of beings alive, then have no universe at all.
Which is also what Mobius argues for involuntarily (since he doesn't see the full picture at that moment).
He tells Loki killing one person and keeping others alive is the right choice, although it is hard and will scar you.
That' s one ethic approach. It's basically utilitarianism. The right choice is the one that benefits most.
Now Sylvie challenges that with another concept by telling Loki that he has no right to declare the sacred timeline superior to other lines, because lives on the sacred timeline can also be miserable and they are predestined. So someone who has a shitty life on the sacred timeline has no way of changing it ever.
Nobody can make a different choice, everyone is stuck. Loki for example, has to attack Thanos with what's basically a kitchen knife, despite being a powerful magic user and literal god, because that is supposed to happen.
The Loki that cast an illusion, hid from Thanos and survived, got pruned.
Apart from taking away people's choices, there is no new life, ever. Only a never ending circle.
So Sylvie argues, that instead of keeping a small amount of people safe, but basically miserable, let everyone chose their own destiny, even if it kills them in the end.
They would at least die being free.
Which is another ethical approach that values every single life and every choice.
And Loki choses freedom. For everyone but him. That's his burden.
But he is giving everyone an unimaginable gift.
He overrides the failsafe by powering the branches himself und ultimately defeats HWR. Which seemed impossible, given the scenario HWR set up.
Now for the Kangs that might destroy the multiverse:
That does not have to happen. The only thing set in stone is the sacred timeline.
HWR talks about the multiversal war in 1x06.
He says his variants kept peace with each other at first, then started a war, that almost
destroyed everything. Almost. Until HWR ended it by using the power of Alioth, the creature he discovered by chance, to built the tva and force the universe into the sacred timeline.
So can we really trust HWR?
No.
Why not?
1. He admitted to being afraid of his variants.
2. He did not plan on ending the war, it was a coincidence.
3. The war almost destroyed everything. It could have ended differently.
4. The war is only one possible outcome. There are infinite ways this could have gone.
5. If the post credit scene in Ant Man 3 referrs to HWR, he is the 'Exiled One'
An outcast. He could have exiled himself, like he said, or he is lying.
Look at all the possibilities in Endgame, where exactly one chance existed of beating Thanos, even if it seemed impossible.
How can we know (without a Dr Strange going through everything) that HWR offers the only option?
HWR cannot be trusted and the natural state of the universe is to be free and to expand indefinitely.
Free will is also a philosophical and religious core theme.
Free will enables people to make the wrong choice, but also to do right. It should be up to every individual themselves, otherwise they cannot evolve.
They're stuck.
And what does Mobius tell Loki his actual purpose was in 1x01?
To inspire people to become the best version of themselves!
And he did. But on his own terms and in a beautiful way.

another concept, mentions of the loki series !! what if loki lost his mama, like mama just dissapeard. but it turns out mama was taken by the tva and is under the custody of mobius, because mama is like a dangerous variant.
so when loki gets captured by the tva and gets to the room where he is interrogated by mobius loki sees mama and he just immediately slips. imagine if he slips to a pretty young headspace and just wants to be cuddled with mama all day. he just missed mama so much, he just wants to be with her.

"So, you're part of the TVA's courageous and dedicated workforce?" asked Loki while walking beside Mobius.
"Yes."
"You were created by the Time-keepers."
"Yep."
"To protect the Sacred Timeline."
"Correct." Mobius replied and Loki laughed, stopping to walk. "Is that funny?"
"The idea that your little club decides the fate of trillions of people across all of existence at the behest of three space lizards, yes, it's funny. It's absurd." Loki rambled down and Mobius tilted his head.
"I thought you didn't like to talk." he teased making Loki scoff at his remark. "But I bet you have a lot to talk with her."
"Her?" Loki asked and one of the TVA minute men opened the door for him and Mobius.
"After you." Mobius waved his hand.
Walking inside Loki saw someone standing with their back to him in the room before a desk.
"I hope for you that you got me the grapes because I'm already in a bad mood, Mobius." the woman said and Loki recognized that voice instantly.
Mama.
"I brought you something even better." Mobius answered and you turned around. Your eyes widened and you let go of the papers you were holding.
"Loki..." you whispered, placing one hand over your mouth and one over your stomach. You approached him slowly and when you stood before him you reached your hand up to his face, caressing his cheek.
"I will leave you two alone." Mobius excused himself and shut the door behind him.
Loki was frozen in place, not believing that the person who spend hours cuddling with him, calmed him down after nightmares, had accepted him for who he was, and he thought had left him, was standing right in front of him now.
"Please, say something." you sniffled, caressing his face now in both hands.
Loki completely forgot about the current situation and hugged you, starting to cry softly with his face buried in your neck.
"My sweet boy." you whispered and kissed his head, pulling out of the hug and wiping away his remained tears. "Mama missed you."
You lead him over to a small orange couch that you literally begged Mobius to get you and sat down, with him holding your hands tightly in his own.
"Why did you leave me?" he asked, his voice trembling.
"Oh baby, I didn't want to leave, the TVA took me."
"W-What?"
"I created a Nexus event as you did and they had to fix it. I wanted to go back to you and stole a tempad but they caught me and wanted to prune me which Mobius saved me from. That's how I ended up as his 'assistant'." you explained and Loki was listening to every word you say, he missed your voice so damn much. "I'm classified as a dangerous variant now and have to wear this all the time." you pointed at your neck and he only noticed now that you wore the same collar as him.
Loki touched his own and started to feel constricted in it. This whole situation is just too overwhelming for his brain to comprehend and him feeling little isn't making it any better.
You caught up on his distress and moved so he could lay on top of you, carding your hand through his hair and rubbing with your other soothingly over his back.
"Shh, I'm with you now and I will never leave your side again." you said and Loki looked up at you with teary eyes.
"Promise Mama."
"I promise, my prince." you kissed his forehead and smiled when he wrapped his arms tighter around your body like his life dependent on it, slowly falling asleep.
You cuddled him for several hours, just enjoying having him in your arms again until Mobius came back with different clothes for Loki.
You sighed in relief when Loki didn't wake up and smiled at Mobius.
"Wow, I think I've never seen you smile since you're here." he whispered and you looked down at your little boy.
He looks so peaceful.
"I never had a reason to." you replied, letting your head fall back on the armrest of the couch, turning back to look at Mobius who leaned against the desk. "Thank you...for bringing him back to me."
"It took me a long time to plan this." he confessed and you chuckled, making Loki stir slightly. "I will help you both to escape from here."

Sylvie
She's really complicated, isn't she?
She had her whole life stolen from her. Never knew the love of her parents. Or rather, knew it for a brief period, only. Was treated roughly by Renslayer, as if she weren't a person, just a thing. Condemned to death after doing nothing wrong. And had to live on the run for ever.
She never had a place she could call home
She never dated anyone
She never had friends
She never had the right to settle down anywhere
She grew up believing she was a convict, not a normal person
She grew up believing she had no rights. That she was not an individual. Because "she wasn't supposed to exist" in the first place
That's Sylvie's mindset. She is a survivor. And like every survivor, she must have a number of mental conditions: PTSD, anxiety, depression, agoraphobia and so many others. She's unable to truly trust someone. She's always prepared for imminent danger. She has A LOT to unpack.
.
Now come the scenes with Mobius and Loki in Season 2, the ones everyone talked about.
She got a lot of hate for the way she spoke to Mobius and for accusing Loki of being selfish after she was the one responsible for the shit everyone's is in now (aka The End of Everything)
The thing is, when she judged Mobius' lightheartedness in a moment of crisis, she was judging from her POV. The TVA hunted her like a dog. They never cared about the people they pruned. They did commit mass genocide, there's no way around it. So in her mind, everyone who works at the TVA is a callous murderer. And the fact that a TVA agent - Mobius - would consider "just chillin' " and having some pie while Armageddon is upon them mirrors the same callous atittude of the ones who hunted her in the past. In her mind, Mobius' gesture was misinterpreted as "I don't give a fuck about what's going on as everything melts down and people will start dying left, right and centre", rather than "let's take a moment to breathe and clear our heads".
.
Now, about the scene with Loki at the bar...
A lot of people hated her for her harsh words and called her a hypocrite, since she was the one who got everyone in this mess after killing HWR.
HOWEVER, people are forgetting one VERY important detail.
The Sacred Timeline DID NOT branch because Sylvie killed He Who Remains. It had ALREADY started branching after they passed the threshold.
Remember HWR's words in Season 1's last episode? He told the Loki Variants to better hurry, since the timeline was beginning to branch
So, regardless of Sylvie's choice, the Timeline was doomed to branch. What could have averted a worse crisis was letting HWR live and ask him to update the Temporal Loom in order to support multiple timelines.
But even that idea could not work, and Loki would see himself forced to learn how to control the Time Slip so as to fix things in the past. Or worse yet, HWR could sabotage their attempt to allow for multiple timelines to exist and they would be forced to kill him either way.
.
So there you have it. Sylvie cannot truly be blamed for putting Loki&Co in this mess. The birth of the Multiverse was inevitable. What she could have done was stay in the TVA and help rather than just disappear and leave everyone behind.
However, once again people forget the TVA was her ENEMY, and she had already made it clear to Loki she had ZERO intent of going back there to help him rule. Her only wish was to secure her freedom by killing the people in charge of the TVA and go live the life she never could.
.
Now, as for the bar scene...
If the series had ended after that dialog, it would have been perfect.
Everyone was back where they belonged. The TVA was no more. And Loki would be forced to do what Sylvie did right after securing her freedom: to build a life of his own.
Instead of finding his own path, Loki settled in the TVA and got comfortable, forgetting that the TVA were not really his family. Remember, he was recruited to help them hunt Sylvie. There was no telling whether Renslayer didn't plan for Loki to be pruned once they found her.
Did Loki meet people whom he later grew fond of? Yes, but that's not the point. His family was back in Asgard, and that got burned to the ground. So now it was up to him to forge his own path, to become independent, to write his own story, in Sylvie's words.
And instead of moving on, as she did, he wanted to pull everyone back into the false lives they led in the TVA for his sake.
Isn't that being selfish?
So, Sylvie's role in Loki's life is that of a friend. Not just any friend. A true friend. She doesn't coddle him. She doesn't feed his delusions. She told him what he needed to hear, not what he wanted. She doesn't sugarcoat the truth.
And it was because of her that he was able to save everyone in the end. Because he finally admitted to himself his worst fear and his one true desire: to not be alone.
.
Having said that, yes, I do want to see Loki get his friends back. Yes, I want to see the TVA finally work as it should: as a Guardian Of Timelines, not as this fascist organisation that commits mass murder. However, Sylvie was not wrong in pointing out to Loki he was being selfish. Do you know why?
Because Mobius was perfectly happy taking care of his kids
The first thing he did when the world was ending was to run back to his family. That shows how much he loved them and cared about them.
He also said he couldn't understand how someone could refuse to take a ride on a jet ski, showing how much he loved his work.
He also questioned whether Loki was truly his friend, to ask him to leave his whole life behind and go help him.
And let's not forget Mobius refused to visit his own timeline while still as Mobius because he feared his true life was so good, he wouldn't want to return to the TVA
SO...was Loki being selfish by forcing Mobius to leave everything behind, a life he clearly loved and to be with him, just because Loki missed his friend?
The inevitable conclusion is YES.
That's what Sylvie was pointing out to him at the bar. The TVA robbed people of their lives, there's no way around it. And once they had the opportunity to go back to those lives, some chose to stay, like Brad. If Mobius had made the same choice, would Loki respect his decision? Or would he force Mobius to stay with him in the TVA against his friend's wishes?
That's the big question that Sylvie was actually asking him. If he had to be selfless to let his friends - and those he love - lead their own lives, whether Loki were a part of them or not, would he be selfless enough to let them go?
I believe the answer to that might come in Episode 6.
My bet is that Sylvie will provoke Loki into showing his friends where they really came from and to give them the liberty to choose their own path. For Lokius' shippers, this will be a big moment. Cause if Mobius decides to go back to selling jet skis and taking care of his kids, what will Loki do? Will he be brave enough to profess his feelings for Mobius and ask him to stay? Will he let Mobius leave him for good and suffer in silence?
Come Thor's Day, we will know.

Lokius writing prompts 3
My new ideas, some of them are inspired by the latest episode. My previous Lokius writing prompts are here, and here. If anyone uses them, please let me know. I want to read it. Today there are only 3 prompts but they are LONG 👀
1 - After saving the Multiverse, Loki and Mobius live together in Mobius' home. They are both busy working at TVA and looking after the children. Loki is so happy to have Mobius back and be part of his life that he doesn't question anything. That is until the younger of Mobius' children calls him dad (to his face or to someone else, and Loki overhears it). Loki then starts to notice that people around them (in TVA and outside) think that he and Mobius are together. This causes Loki to have an existential crisis, as he has been acting like the children's dad and Mobius' partner and for some reason has been completely unaware of this until that moment. Loki realises that he is really happy to be a part of Mobius' family and would like to start a real relationship with Mobius, but he is not sure what Mobius thinks about this and at this point he is too afraid to ask.
2 - Field Trip to Avengers Tower AU! TVA's Loki landed in the place of 2012's Loki just after the failed Chitauri invasion. He managed to convince everyone that he was under the influence of the Mind Stone, and to help fix everything he had inadvertently contributed to he promised to help defend Earth from a future invasion by Thanos. As a result, he joined the Avengers and, despite earlier scepticism about his intentions at this point after two years, most people more or less believe he actually wants to help. Still some members of the Avengers prefer not to get too close to him. Loki is again an outsider. On a day when the Avengers' tower is holding open days and another tour of visitors arrives, Tony Stark notices Loki's strange behaviour. At the sight of a perfectly ordinary 50-year-old father of two sons, Loki, the ever-confident god of lies suddenly turns into a bundle of nerves. He nervously fixes his hair and clothes, stammers as he talks, and for some incomprehensible reason starts talking about jet skis to impress the man. The strangest thing is that this tactic works because this DILF, whose name it turns out is Don, keeps emphasising that he is a single father and has no wife. Has he already mentioned that he doesn't have a wife? Tony takes pity on Loki (who completely misses the fact that Don is interested in him) and informs him that Don will definitely agree if Loki asks him out. Loki, who at this point was preoccupied by the fact that he had suddenly met Mobius whom he had completely given up hope of meeting again after the events at TVA, is at first shocked that Tony thought Loki was romantically interested in Mobius. However, he takes his advice as he sees no other option to keep in touch with Mobius and before he knows it he starts dating him.
3 - Loki and Mobius fight a very dangerous variant that jumps through different universes and commits serious crimes on them. It's so serious that TVA has decided that capturing this variant is their top priority. During the fight, Loki and Mobius become separated, and this variant steals Loki's tempad and throws him out of the time door. Loki lands in the middle of Avengers Tower, some time after Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but before Avengers: Age of Ultron. In this universe, Loki really died, so he wasn't pretending to be Odin. Loki lands right in front of Tony Stark, Rhodey and Maria Hill. Luckily for him, the rest of the Avengers are on a mission at the moment. Loki quickly surrenders, is captured and escorted to a makeshift interrogation room in Hulk's part of the underground. During the interrogation, Tony becomes so worked up that he starts showing Loki photos and informations about people who died during the 2012 attack on New York. Loki tries not to show any emotion on his face, but then he sees Mobius' face among the victims. Tony notices his reaction, but he doesn't know what does that mean. After the interrogation, Tony tries to calm down in his workshop when J.A.R.V.I.S. tells him that something strange is happening in Loki's cell. Tony prepares to fly in guns blazing to stop Loki from escaping, but then he looks into the cameras and sees the same man Loki reacted to earlier walking through a strange orange portal. From that moment on, Tony can't look away and sees and hears their entire conversation. He often doesn't understand it, but from what he sees, Loki can't get over the fact that he killed this man, and the newcomer is trying to calm him down. Elements of this conversation that would be nice to include:
Mobius knows about everything since before (at first he wanted to go where he came from but after pruning he changed his mind? sus. Maybe some other Loki variant returned his memories and this is why Mobius reacts the way he reacts when somebody talks about it)
Mobius doesn't care that Loki killed his variant because he doesn't think his variant at that time was important to Loki and his death is no different from the deaths of other people
Mobius knows about how Loki was being affected by: learning that he was not only adopted but also a frost giant, suicide attempt in 1st Thor, falling into the hands of Thanos and the Other, the influence of the Mind Stone, etc. and how it all contributed to what Loki did
Mobius knows that even Loki who was out of his mind was trying to sabotage the invasion (come on, he can teleport, change his appearance and covert operations are his speciality, but he does everything in the most flashy and dramatic way possible? and Dr Selvig, a weak human managed to oppose the Mind Stone to the point of building an off switch in the portal? sus)
Loki repeats what Mobius told him in the interrogation room during their first meeting ("You were born to cause pain and suffering and death. That's how it is, that's how it was, that's how it will be. All so that others can achieve their best versions of themselves.")
A very strong hug
After listening to this conversation Tony can't go back to hating Loki. When the rest of the Avengers comes back Tony is on the Loki's side and he tries to calm down Thor who is angry, hurt and doesn't like Mobius at all. It would be better if Mobius didn't have children in this fanfic.
(This is a prompt I'm trying to use myself but I don't know if I will finish this story so I decided to give it to you. You are welcome to use it if you want to. Especially because even if I finish it I don't know if I'm ever going to translate it into English - it's not my native language)
Yes, I know most of my prompts have the "sudden realisation of feelings" cliche in it, but I just don't think that with everything going on in the show Mobius and Loki have time to process their feelings. Which is why they need the slow burn story to have the time to:
A - notice how they are feeling, process it, confess and get together.
Or:
B - get together because reasons, notice their feelings, process them and then confess.
I also know that I use Tony Stark a lot in these prompts. You can replace him with any other Avenger if you want.
As usual:
Bonus points if in post season 2 canon complaint stories every member of TVA hates spaghetti with burning passion.
More bonus points for Loki's interactions with various members of the Avengers, Guardians, SHIELD, etc.
Even more bonus points for Lokius slow burn.
Tell me what you think of my ideas!
BTW - I don't have Disney+ and I never watched Loki season 2 🤡 (only the first 4 episodes of season 1.) Most of what I know about the show I know from the internet. I hope my prompts are consistent with the plot.

Songs that remind me of Sigyn + her variants! ✨
"Myth!Sigyn singing about Loki & Angrboda as she revisits the forests of Jotunheim right before Ragnarok, searching for Vali who is now a wild wolf. Recalling back to a time when the monstrous triplets were in their care before being taken away. Ripping their family apart."
"Myth!Sigyn & loki singing about how everything was once perfect in their lives, and now they're prepared for the fate that awaits them. Ragnarok.."
"Myth!Sigyn singing about Loki and his bad reputation around Asgard, trying to reassure Freyja, her mother that she doesn't have to worry or cry about her!"
"RoR!Sigyn singing about how she sometimes questions her and Loki's relationship and if it's going to really last, knowing full well he is trouble. Especially now after realizing they both didn't plan for it to originally happen. The two wanting the other for their own gain. But there being an unexpected spark."
"Smite!Sigyn singing about how she feels betrayed and lied to after Loki's sudden change he went through after his binding and the change in ragnarok's prophesy. They're both grieving still and Loki obviously feels guilty that she suffered because of his actions, expressing even if he changed for the worst he still loves her no matter how much she might hate him. She doesn't!"
"A menthapor on how Myth!Sigyn was always protective of her sons. (For obvious reasons) eventually having to hide Narfi and Vali away from the gods because they're in danger. Later, it turns out she has quite literally buried her children because they were wrongfully killed by Odin."
"Smite!Sigyn singing about her feelings after Loki's punishment and how she lost everything she once was. Realizing how toxic the aesir gods are.."
"Myth!Sigyn singing about Loki and what she feels about his behavior. It being complicated but that she still supports him, knowing he's better than what he makes himself out to be in front of the other gods!"
"Doll Au RoR!Sigyn singing about how she's aware of what her role is after so long, to quite literally be Loki's marionette that he controls! But after she has gained sentience now and understands what love is. It's almost like she doesn't want it to end.."

i've gotten a few new followers recently who seems to be loki series fans... and i just. you do realize that this is a very anti-series blog, right? it's in my description too
i know i haven't reblogged a whole bunch of anti loki series stuff lately, but it's not because i've "changed my mind" or anything. I am just to tired to read long metas (i haven't been reblogging many og loki metas recently either), i do not have the emotional energy to deal with awful feelings that come with the series, and also the other anti-series blog i follow also are getting emotional burnout from it so they aren't posting/reblogging a whole bunch of anti loki stuff either so that's less content for me to reblog.
but know that i am still very anti-loki series, and had strong feeling about it even before i got a tumblr account and literally no one in my life shared my views. When i finally got a tumblr account, like the first thing i did was read through all of the master posts of all the most major anti-series blogs. I read and reblogged probably hundreds. Like i combed through the archives. And i felt so validated finally.
The loki series was a terrible insult to lokis character. They took away his intelligence and his grace and his strategy and his humour and his masking and his cool reserved (but still witty) demeanor. They took away key aspects of his backstory, and invalidated every bad thing that ever happened to him. They didn't simply reduce his complex personality to something stupidly simple, they completely took away practically every part of his personality, and replaced it with things that weren't ever part of him. They blamed him for things he never did (and don't mention things he actually should be blamed for), called him inherently evil, and made him the butt of every joke. That thing you see on the screen is not the same character, not even a different character, but a bastardization of wearing someone else's corpse. The makers didn't even watch the previous installments he was in.
The series was questionable, if not outright terrifying, in its morals/messages (having the main character be stolen and stripped of everything, then work for a genocidal fascist organization and be happy about it)(portrayed either a questionable strange psuedo-incest abuser or an abusive fascist as the two romance options)(etc etc).
Even smaller less important things made it terrible. Making a show about "loki" then having it not be about him, but rather the tva, just to expand disney/mcu's while multiverse obsession? Having the series be called "loki" the whole aesthetic of the show being something painfully not loki? from the music to the lighting to the costumes to the plot to the everything? The lack consistency of the show to the installments prior/post it (again bc they don't care to research)? Gaps in logic? Also the fact that they seem to keep mixing up the concept of multiverses with timelines? (an alternate universe is different from a branch off of one universes timeline. Alligator loki, for example, does not make sense being a loki "variant" because the timeline could not deviate in a way that would make that happen). The fact that it was called "loki" but all the merch is racist genocidal tva? The fact that they condemn loki for certain things but praise the tva for doing far worse things? The way they made tom overact in such an embarrassing way? The way they marketed as having genderfluid loki, and then not only not showing it, but actively denying it?
i could go on and on and on but since i'm not formatting this as an essay the disorganization and lack of proper sentences/grammar is just muddling my point so i won't continue that long paragraph.
anyways.
and it's not "just" a show to me. its not "just" a fictional character. it's not "not a big deal." It is. It is a big deal. To me. I've dealt with mental illnesses my whole life, and when they get bad, they get bad. Dangerously bad. Having a comfort character/ world in my head i could escape to is a vital coping mechanism for me. When they first announced the loki series, a certain nervousness set in me, and with every new piece of information released, it got worse and worse, and my mental state got worse and worse. fuck man, i wanted to kill myself so that i wouldn't be alive when it came out (amongst other reasons). When it did finally come out, not only were all my fears proven correct, it proved to much, much, much worse than i could have ever imagined. It was horrific. It was like they stole what was dearest to me and disfigured it in front of my eyes and got the blood all over me and it would wash out, and the scent and colour and feel and taste of blood filled all my senses. My mental illnesses got a lot worse (both from reason related to and unrelated to the series), and i couldn't even use my necessary coping mechanism bc every time i thought of loki (even my og loki), the series and how it ruined everything would invade my mind. things were bad for me. and all i got was people saying "it's not that bad, your being dramatic, you should watch it!"
And perhaps i'm one-in-million in that sense, it's not like they made the series specifically to personally do that to me. And they don't know that it did.
but should they be ashamed? that they took something that was originally a complex piece of art and passion and expression, and did that to it? They turned it into some soulless money-making formula? They went from wanting to make stories to wanting to make money? From quality to quantity? Shouldn't they feel ashamed, that they disrespected the original artists and writers and filmmakers who put so much into it, only to not even watch them when "wanting" to continue it? Shouldn't they feel ashamed at their hollow greed and corruption? Shouldn't they feel ashamed for forcing an actor to ruin a character they cared so much about, and not allowed for their ideas?
even without what it emotionally did to people, they should be ashamed.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I keep seeing posts talking about how Sylvie isn't taking responsibility for the problems the TVA is facing with the loom right now and how everything that is currently happening is all Sylvie's fault. Like I kind of get why some people have this opinion its easy to say that Sylvie killing HWR was the catalyst for the loom being overloaded.
But having thought about it some more I honestly, wholeheartedly disagree with the opinion that its all Sylvie's fault or that she hasn't taken any responsibility for the consequences of killing HWR.
First I want to talk about Sylvie taking responsibility for the consequences of killing HWR. So if we look at it from Sylvie's pov we have to remember that she wasn't warned that the loom would meltdown and that would put the branches in danger. She was told that the consequence of killing HWR would be that his variants would show up and start another multiverse war. Sylvie tells Loki if HWR variants show up she will kill them too. So as far as Sylvie is concerned because she has killed HWR its her responsibility to stop/kill any of his variants that show up. Which is what she planned to do when Victor Timely showed up. It's why she tells Loki she can't let Victor live, because she considers it her responsibility to protect the branches from HWR and his variants.
As for the loom I would argue that Sylvie does take some responsibility here too. Its a classic case of what a character says being very different from what they do. I think because Sylvie is constantly saying that she doesn't care about the TVA and that she's given everyone freewill and is now walking away, that she's made a life and she wants to live it, well yeah it does come across like she is just brushing off any responsibility.
But if you look at her actions she does actually help, she helps them fight against Dox, she helps them solve the problem with the loom in ep 4, when the branches begin disappearing in ep 5 she goes to Loki and says there must be something they can do. I know some people feel like she only went to him because her reality was at risk but I just think its a case of she thought everything was fine, the loom exploding didn't kill everyone like they thought it would, everyone was back where they were supposed to be before the TVA took them and its all fine and dandy. When she realises actually the loom exploding has caused a major problem it just wasn't immediately obvious, she wants to help fix it.
So really when you think about it, whilst she might have been vocal about much she wished the problem with loom wasn't her problem she does still take responsibility through her actions and tries, even if it is somewhat reluctantly, to help solve the issue.
Moving on to the topic of what's going on with the loom and all the TVA's woes right now being Sylvie's fault. I was at one point like well it was Sylvie killing HWR that caused the timelines to branch and therefore the loom to meltdown and the branches to spaghettify, so you could say it was her actions that was the catalyst. But just because her actions was the spark that set this chain of events off, doesn't necessarily mean that its her fault.
Having sat and thought about, really I think the fault lies entirely with HWR and his variants. It was HWR that worked out how to travel between the different worlds and meet other versions of himself, it was HWR and his variants that started the multiversal war because they wanted to conquer each other's worlds. It was HWR who then created the loom and the TVA to control one set timeline and who commanded all other timelines and variants to be sent to the void to be eaten by Alioth. So actually the truer statement is that none of this would have happened if it weren't for HWR messing with things in the first place so therefore everything that is happening now is his fault, not Sylvie's.
That's not to say though that I think every decision Sylvie makes is right, I'm not the kind of fan that thinks their fave can do no wrong ever, I actually think the squeaky clean characters who never do wrong are kind of boring. I do think Sylvie acted rashly when she killed HWR but I also understand why she did, this was the man who ruined her life and the consequence she was told would be more versions of him showing up and I think she just thinks, ok killing him means I might have to kill many versions of the man who ruined my life, no biggy, I think that was a consequence she was willing to accept and willing to take responsibility for. If she knew at the time what it would mean for the loom and therefore the branches she may have thought twice about it, who knows.
But the situation to me seemed like a bit of a lose/lose choice. Letting HWR live would mean continuing to prune branches and variants which would be wrong, but killing him as we've seen brings its own set of problems. Really, ideally it would have been better if Sylvie had listened to Loki and stopped to think about it. If they had decided to go for the long con, pretended to accept HWR's offer and then worked behind the scenes at the TVA to prepare for overthrowing him, who knows maybe Loki can still go back and do that.
Anyway to wrap up, I personally don't think that it's all Sylvie's fault or that she needs to take more responsibility, but hey that's just this gal's opinion.

I have watched Loki's second season, and I have so many feelings... I apologize for the rant ahead!!
This season feels like the writers listened to fan's critics. But somehow, they managed to get it wrong anyway... Take Loki's role: he is, without a doubt, the lead character this time. They even have him speak about his past (another big complaint about the first season) and they have him literally say what his motivations are (he doesn't want to be alone, he is searching for a place to belong), but it feels so damn wrong! Yes, it's true, belonging is a crucial point for Loki, and I would have been very happy to see him finally finding a place to call home, but.... the TVA 2.0?! Seriously?! And it's all so rushed. Almost overnight, the TVA becomes now a good thing, its new purpose is to protect all timelines and prevent Kang's variants to start another war - yes, there is a small group of people who still believe in pruning the other timelines, but the problem is easily and quickly contained and forgotten. I really have to believe that such a big and complex organization, with countless brainwhased "workers" and soldiers, just because Mobius (an obscure analyst), Loki (who for everyone is still a dangerous variant) and B15 (a rogue hunter, previously detained) say so, suddenly becomes the new Amnesty International. I mean. It could have been a great story of change and renewal, if only they would have taken the time to actually tell it...
Sylvie deserves a moment all for herself. I don't like her, and I didn't like her romance with Loki, but the writers put her in this show, they created big expectations on her role, and in this second season they just... forget about her, without a reason. They even have erased the romance between her and Loki, and again, I didn't like it, but if you want to erase a romance, then do it properly! Instead, it feels like it never happened. Loki was very clearly attached to her in the previous season - he wanted her to be okay, he even asked her to figure out their lives together, after everything, and sure, they had a big fight in the last episode, but... again, it's like it never happened. Now Loki doesn't particularly care about Sylvie (yes, she is in his group of "friends", but nothing more), he just feels somehow inexplicably guilty when she is around, and Sylvie seems like she has troubles remembering who he is... Not to mention her choices after she kills He Who Remains. Again, I really have to believe that after all her trauma and tragedy, after all the travels around worlds and apocalypses, apparently all a norse goddess might want is a job at a MacDonald. What a terrible lack of imagination... And I get the "I want to live a humble, simple life, to enjoy little pleasures", it's a beautiful concept, really, but I'm not exactly sure that working in a fast food chain is such a heavenly and simple life - ask real workers how beautiful and full of little pleasures that life really is. But no, here it is the new american dream. To sell hamburgers on a minimum wage.
And yes, the ending was good. To see Loki finally secure of himself, to see him finding his purpose and his powers, it was cathartic, even if bittersweet: we already knew he was capable of great things! And, at least to me, it didn't feel much like a sacrifice: he does not die, he does not suffer; yes he is alone (side note: at least Mobius has the decency of feeling sad to have lost his friend, Sylvie simply doesn't care, which is unlikely even for her, but they wrote her like that, so...), but he has the means to travel across time and space whenever he likes (he literally spent centuries studying physics! Who knows what else he could do!), he is not trapped inside the time branches. He becomes the most powerful being in the MCU so far, truly a God, and in that his ending is way better than Thor's ending (poor Thor...). But Loki gets here for all the wrong reasons, and the thing that I hated the most is that he needed Mobius advice. So, in the end, Mobius gets to say that he always felt like pruning timelines was a heavy burden, but a burden he chose to bear for a greater good in lack of better options. Seriously?! And we have to pause and think "oh, you see, he wasn't really a mindless killer, he had pity, empathy, especially for children, poor him, he was just trying to do the right thing..." and we have to accept that what Loki does in the end is inspired by him, can be compared to what TVA did for centuries. In fact, what Loki does is presented as an improvement: TVA's purpose was to avoid the multiversal war and to avoid the distruction of all timelines by protecting just one of them, they did it as best as they could given the impossible circumnstances, now thanks God (literal God: Loki) someone else can keep all the branches alive without the whole world collapsing, so they can focus on finding Kang's variants and avoiding the war, yay!
I have much more to say, but I ranted enough for now. Thanks for reading all this :)
Loved the rant! 😉
I'm glad to hear he wasn't sidelined in this one. It's crazy because I remember a review published before the series aired saying the exact opposite, so… I'm glad they were wrong.
No wonder it felt rushed, 6 eps are not enough to tell a good story, not when they pretend to take the lead character from point A to B with a completely different characterization/motivation. And I suppose it's made worse by the fact that Loki was always this complex character so trying to tell a story where he's hilariously basic just can't work out.
They're wasting an outrageous amount of money on these eps, making a longer series is unattainable, especially when everything I have read on the matter states these streaming services are not making huge numbers, if anything Disney+ is losing money.
I'm not surprised the TVA are shown as good though, Marvel thinks they're Shield. If they refused to acknowledge that Shield was corrupted in its core, they were never going to do it with the TVA.
Why does Loki feel guilty around Sylvie though? Are they still claiming he was in the wrong in the S1 finale? That's insane!
I couldn't agree more with you about flipping burgers at McD's. It screams of elitism that these execs are so stupid they think these jobs are what… humbling? A life lesson? If Sylvie wanted a simple life you can't give her a mid-life crisis or a break where she does something a human would do. She's not human, she's a goddess.
I feel bad that they ignored her though. It seems she didn't have as big a fanbase as we were led to believe but to write her as the main character in S1 only to push her aside in order to show more Loki/Mobius is just wrong. The problem with Sylvie is not that she exists, is that she was written only to take the spotlight from Loki and make him look bad, she never had a complex story of her own.
And with Mobius… the very same guy who said the TVA was his glorious purpose, the same guy who said he didn't waste time in questioning anything and he just accepted what was, the same guy who put Loki in a torture chamber for escaping them… we have to fall for that "I was doing it for the greater good"? Come on, now! 🤦‍♀️😂

“i see a scheme. and in that scheme, i see myself.”

not sure if this has been observed yet, but when loki gives his spiel in ep 2…he never lies to mobius. if you’ll notice, he addresses B-15 and the other agents when he’s stalling, but only looks at mobius when he’s telling the truth. this is why it takes mobius a moment to decide he’s just stalling. because he’s telling one big lie wrapped up a bunch of truths. and he’s trying not to look directly at loki because he’s listening for what’s a lie and what’s not. once he realises loki’s words to him were supposed to mean more- he knew it was a test.
M: okay. come on, loki, make a long story short.
B-15: we need to look for C-20.
L: that’s exactly what the variant wants you to do. it’s a trap. he’s waiting for you outside this tent.
Agent: should i secure the reset charges?
L: no, he wants me. i’m the key to his plan. he knows that i’m stronger than him.
B-15: almost one unit.
L (to Hunter B-15): and he rightly believes that together we can overthrow the TVA.
(to Mobius): but that’s not what i want. i have a new purpose.
(to B-15) i’m a servant of the sacred timeline. and knowing what i now know about his tactics, i can…deliver
(to mobius): you the variant.
[walking behind mobius for protection and to test mobius’ trust in him. mobius doesn’t flinch.]
but, i need assurances.
Tumblr media
M: yeah?
L (to mobius): assurances that i won’t be completely disintegrated the moment the
(to B-15) job
(to mobius) has been done.
M: right.
Tumblr media
L (whispers to mobius): and we’ll need to speak to the timekeepers immediately, they’re in graver danger than we realised.
Tumblr media
M: …he’s lying. just playing games, there’s no one out there.
even here, loki doesn’t look at mobius when he says “lying” - his gaze remains locked on Hunter B-15 because he was lying to them. he turns to mobius once he says “just playing games.” the look of realisation mobius caught on. he’s impressed. flattered, even. and now he knows that mobius is paying attention. which means he might be able to gain mobius’ trust as an ally, a friend. because playing mobius is not what he wants anymore. his new purpose is to have mobius on his side. to speak with the time keepers, with mobius. now he can see them as partners. as part of his plan.

M: you had me for a second, my ears are sharp too.

i can and will go on and on about this episode

At It Again
Fandom just can't help itself, can it?
I'm watching Loki Season 2, and the shippers are out in full force, screaming at the top of their lungs how unfair it is that the production will focus on a romance between Loki and his temporal variant, Sylvie. Meanwhile, they also think its unfair that there is a plot complication where a sentient AI, Miss Minutes, is in love with her creator, He Who Remains, and his variants.
They are VERY upset. So upset that their imagined romantic relationship between two white male characters (Lokius) doesn't seem to be happening that they completely ignore the possible thematic reasons that the production is focusing on other relationships.
There's a fantastic scene in 2x03, where Loki and Mobius are eating key lime pie and talking about whether Mobius wants to learn about from where the TVA kidnapped him. Mobius explains that he likes what he does in the TVA, and he likes who he is now, and so he finds he isn't as curious as he expected to be about his past.
Considering that Loki had his own poignant scene where he is confronted with his own villainous past by Hunter X-5 a couple of scene before that one, it seems to me that it's pretty obvious that one of the fundamental themes of the show is the proper way to love yourself. Almost every character demonstrates a particular take on this idea.
Loki's growth in season 1 from megalomaniac world destroyer, fixated on proving his own value, to a character who says "I don't want a throne, I just want you to be okay," defines him now, as he tries to figure out what it takes to be okay.
Sylvie thought that getting revenge on He Who Remains would make her feel better, but it didn't. She still doesn't know what will.
Kang and his variants hate each other (read: themselves) so much that they are driven to tamper with the very nature of the universe.
Ravonna has become convinced that the key to loving oneself is free will, which only the one in charge has access to.
On the other hand, individuals like Mobius, B-13, O.B., and Casey seem content even when in danger, because they place their value in their ability to help other people, even when they were secretly serving He Who Remains.
Even if my interpretation is wrong, I think that self-image seems to be a major component of the show's thematic structure, which makes the relationship between Loki and Sylvie or Miss Minutes' obsession with her creator seem far more relevant to the story the production wants to tell than shoe-horning a romance between Mobius and Loki.
But fandom, as usual, never stops to ask itself why the production chose to focus on the relationship in the way that it does, and simply complains about not getting a romance between the first two white male characters who are good looking and were briefly antagonistic to each other.
