Very short astrology observations 4
*not a professional astrologer, these are just my observations
✨ Something about Aries placements and their extreme love for their fathers or extreme hatred towards them😭😭
✨ Libra moons tend to get emotional when they see beautiful things, just appreciating nature is such a beautiful thing to them that they can start to feel emotional, also happens when they see a lot of people getting along well and the vibes are nice, really the ones who appreciate the small things
✨ 5th house suns tend to be really excited for their birthday or throw big parties for their birthday. Makes sense because the 5th house it's about being on the spotlight, parties, pleasures etc... Its originally ruled by Leo.
✨ I know it sounds cliché but Virgo placements really like to be organized and be clean, I'd dare to say even the virgo degrees (6°, 18°), if they don't like to clean they a 100% love to have an organized space or like when things look organized.
✨ Fixed risings signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) and looking almost identical when they were babies to when they are all grown up....🤨
✨ 3rd house mars can really get angry while having a normal conversation with someone, y'all could be talking about the most random stuff and they be getting angry🤣🤣🤣very funny people with great comebacks, might really like to annoy their siblings too😭

Obviously the debate about "what is art, really" is not and should not be at the core of the discussion around procedurally generated imagery, and for the most part, I don't talk about it! But man, as a photography enjoyer (not participant) it's been so frustrating to see the nature photography channels here on tumblr increasingly being filled up with AI generated imagery.
I like photos, and I like photos that look striking or astonishing most of all, because I know they required some serious finessing on the part of the photographer -- either to get in the right position, or use the right equipment, or know the tricks for getting the light just so.
But the reason I love it is because I love to be reminded of how beautiful the world we live in is, and seeing some of that beauty get highlighted and centered for a moment makes me appreciate both it and the people who saw it and wanted to share it.

🏁 jump start
Tumblr media
you just wanted to wallow in peace. a bit hard to do that when two random men ask you to be a "grid girl"?
racer au!! part 1 is on my page! masterlist is a wip currently </3 were still in the introduction part of this so this is definitely going to be split up into parts. also i haven't decided whos gonna be the main guy in this so lmk who you like!
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
What in the world have you gotten yourself into? That’s the only thought that runs through your mind as the two random men drag you to some remote area. You almost regret trusting them so easily, maybe that was their plan, to have Yuji be so sweet that they can lure you to your demise. You had just begun formulating your half assed plan to try and escape when it feels as though you’ve been struck by lightning. All your senses scream when the pin drop silence evolves into loud rumbles, the abandoned dark lot that you were standing in suddenly being lit up like a flash bang. Sukuna grins at the pathetic whine that escapes your lips as you drag your arms over your eyes to soothe them. You drop them again a few seconds later, letting your sense adjust as you notice the sudden influx of people. Through hazy vision, you can make out Yuji talking excitedly with some spiky haired boy while Sukuna crashes through people to meet with a blonde chick. You suddenly feel extremely self-conscious being left alone by the two people who you only somewhat knew. It’s when you finally start seeing clearly, that a girl walks up to you. She looks you up and down, not even bothered by the way you seem to be staring into her soul. She grins lazily when she notices the glint of attraction in your eyes.
“Shoko. Nice to meet ya. How did Sukuna convince a goody like you to come to a place like this, huh?”
You stutter through your words, completely lost. She rolls her eyes, eyeing your pockets as she steps closer, taking advantage of the way your breath hitches to slip her hand into your jacket pocket. She pulls out your ID, giggling at the stunned look on your face as she examines it.
“Hmm, pretty name…Oh shit, you don’t look nineteen, girl. Ah, med major. That explains it. They always look depressed beyond their years.”
You gather enough confidence to finally scan the place, your voice hesitant.
“What is this?”
Shoko’s eyes widen only a fraction as she tilts her head.
“They really didn’t tell you anything? You’re not that smart if you’re following random men without even asking a question, kid.”
You don’t respond to that, not ready to tell this beautiful woman about how your life is falling apart because your marks are bad. She takes a step back, arms open as if to show off the area as she grins.
“Welcome to Jumpstart, kid. The only street racing kick in the tristate area that’s worth attending.”
At her words, the environment seems to suddenly click as you take it in. The blinding lights seem less harsh now that you can see the beautiful cars they come from. You barely get a chance to admire the scene, Shoko grabbing your arm as she drags you with her.
“You got a lot to learn in a very little amount of time, so let me introduce you to the main event.”
Shoko is clearly a big deal around this area, people immediately getting out of her way as she shuffles through the crowd. You mutter small apologies to the few people you bump into before Shoko comes to stop in front of two men…In front of two gorgeous men.
The taller one grins as he leans forward a little to bend, his hair falling over his face so effortlessly that you almost want to run your fingers through it. You want to ask him if it’s bleached, I mean who could possibly have such perfect whiter hair naturally? Before you can even open your mouth to greet him, he slips his glasses down his nose and you’re once again left speechless at the overwhelming blue staring down at you.
“Hmm, this the one Sukuna picked out? She not all that.”
And before it even started, it ended. You didn’t even get a chance to appreciate his looks before he starts talking and now you want him to just shut up. Okay, maybe you didn’t look your best, but god, give a girl a break! The man on his left grins as he slaps his hand on the white-haired ones arm. His voice is soft, almost a purr as he slips a hair tie off of his wrist to tie up his hair while chiding his friend.
“Come now, Satoru, it’s rude to point out someone’s flaws.”
His voice is so sweet, saccharine like as he defends you. You completely blow past the condescending nature of the way he words his thoughts. He grins as he looks down at you, A stray piece of hair falling over his eyes, making him look all the more regal as he coos at you.
“You seem way out of your comfort zone, pretty. This not your usual night out?”
Shoko tugs on his hair before you can answer, though you secretly thank her knowing you would’ve made a fool out of yourself if you spoke.
“She’s not a plaything, focus up. Come on, introduce yourselves.”
Both boys straighten up, seeming as though conditioned, the way they start speaking like it was rehearsed hundreds of times.
“I’m Satoru Gojo, it’s nice to meet you. Would you like to see my car?”
“Suguru Geto, it’s a pleasure. Let me take you for a ride.”
You stare at both of them awkwardly, Shoko slapping her hand against the back of both their necks.
“We’ve been through this! Don’t sound so robotic. Whatever. Look kid, these two are the top racers we have. Satoru only races in car sprints like a pussy, and Suguru does a little bit of everything, but we like to show him off when he’s on a bike. You’ve met Sukuna, he’s insane in a car. Yuji manages these ‘meetings’ but I’ve seen that boy when he’s in a sports car and there’s a reason him and Sukuna are twins. Who am I missing…?”
You try to remember all the information she’s throwing at you as Suguru starts speaking next.
“Choso is only good on bikes, you can meet him at the next race. Megumi and Maki are car fanatics, you should talk to them to figure out the basics. Nanami is the supervisor, I suppose. We should definitely introduce you to him. Hmm, there’s a bunch of other people too, you can just meet them later. Right now, we need to get you changed.”
“…What?”
You finally get a chance to speak, your face burning slightly at the rasp in your voice as your eyes squint in confusion. You turn to Shoko, clearly only trusting her right now as she grins back at you.
“Oh yeah, we need to fix you up. I think it’s time you meet Nobara and Hime.”

What kind of beauty do the Sinclair brothers like? GN READER.
This a headcanon, not meant to insult or make anyone insecure! Everyone is beautiful in their own way!
I'm so sorry if the writing is terrible, on mobile AND WRITERS BLOCK!!
Vincent Sinclair
Tumblr media
Classic beauty.
- Growing up, Vincent loved movies. He was starstruck by the people on the television.
-He used to draw old movie stars, and his fashion taste for his wax figures is old-timey. (If he chooses to dress them)
- He loves plaid dresses and dress shirts. He loves slicked-back hair and big curls (either natural or from hair rollers.)
- If he had a S/O that had a classic beauty, a timeless thing, he’d used them as a muse for everything. (Regardless, he'd use his S/O as a muse no matter what.)
- He loves radio voices, smooth-sounding voices, and sweet. He’d adore a S/O with a voice like that and would want to lay his head on their lap as they talked.
Bo Sinclair
Tumblr media
Modern Beauty.
- This man loves SLUTS!!!(jk) He is a traditional man, but when he sees victims wearing skimpy stuff and modern fashion, he's lovin’ it.
-He likes the breath of youthfulness, which makes it more interesting for him.
-Loves tight clothing, dyed hair, and all that. He's intrigued by it; it's unique to him even though, in the real world, it's normal.
-Will watch you do your makeup, in confusion.
-He likes modern people, because he's not and he (secretly) wishes he was.
Lester Sinclair
Tumblr media
Natural beauty.
-This man loves the forest, he loves nature a lot. So when he looks at you, raw beauty, it reminds him on nature.
-He would never want you to wear makeup; he thinks you're so beautiful how you are (he would still shower you with compliments if you put it on, though.)
-Loves flaws: wonky teeth? Loves them. Spilt ends? Loves them. Acne? Loves it. Scars? Loves them. STRECH MARKS?? IS OBSESSED!! You'll never have to be embarrassed about your body, face, or any of it with him because he wants you just how you are.
-He knows he ain't the best-looking so it truly shocked him when someone like you, naturally perfect (to him), loves him! He also knows you appreciate his natural beauty too, or so he hopes.
-Will compare you to plants and animals, in A LOVING WAY!!!
A/N: Lester, my love. If anyone has any fanfics of Lester, I am begging, SEND THEM MY WAY PLEASE!!
Anyway, please tell me what you think. I KNOW THE WRITING IS BAD; I write fanfics much better ong. Which is your favorite Sinclair brother? I'm a huge Lester fan (obviously); he's my husband.

Hey, how are you?? I hope you are doing great. I love all of your masquerade kiss posts and everything else you write because you put so much effort into them. You explain the MK characters in such a deep, fascinating way that it's admirable, and I kinda miss your analysis, lol. I have a question, tho if you are interested and free to answer. What is one thing you personally hate and love about the MK mc and the LI all 4 of them and if their is anything you would like to change about the game??. Like any route incident or character trait?? I believe their is a lot to say where MK is heading personally for the characters, both good and bad, tbh I would love to know your answer. Anyways, take care and have a great day ❤️
Hey ❤️ I’m doing alright even though I’ve been sick since yesterday, thank you for asking! I hope you’re doing good as well
Thank you for these thoughtful words. You always make my days whenever you say such nice things 🥹 I’m glad if my analyses are appreciated or helpful, I try to be as faithful to the representation of the title as I can while I give my own thoughts. Telling me I do it well and in a fascinating way means so much to me, thank you again ❤️
Things I love and hate about the Masquerade Kiss characters? Anything I’d like to change about the game?
To answer your question, there are many things I love about the characters and nothing I hate, or particularly dislike. Hatred would be a big word to use and if I hated anything about the title, I would find it hard to read it to be honest. I think this title is perfect for me as it has everything I love within it, which is why I’m really passionate about it. The things that tend to be "less good" about the characters are aspects of their personality that represent their flaws, so it’s only natural to like them less, and I have to say, I think their flaws are very well chosen. Maybe I sound like a simp for the title haha, but then so be it 🤣
The Masquerade Kiss MC
What I especially love about her character is that she successfully represents what I had always hoped to see in a MC. I personally was often used to seeing MCs that, while very lovely in their own way, were very "flat" and not especially interesting with their personality. Due to the fact that writers try to make sure the readers can self insert and project onto the MCs, earlier MCs were somehow very bland, or "weak", and submissive in a bad way for the sake of the self insert and LI. With newer titles, this problem seems to be less present though!
When I say they are weak I don’t mean their physical strength by the way, but rather the fact that they are so kind they are completely selfless. I think that if done right, such a representation can be beautiful, but more often than not, I saw MCs who were so "kind" their character was being crushed by their LI and they completely lacked anything that could be relatable to most readers, if that makes sense. It was in my opinion bad writing, because it was very one sided and only served the purpose to go faster with the story to learn more about the LI.
Compared to that, the MK MC is sooo well written in my opinion. She has everything, and without any extremes. She’s an independent and capable woman with a strong and kind personality, but she doesn’t reject others or love nor does she act as a man hater (thankfully, she didn’t fall into that annoying type of feminist writing). She’s extremely strong both physically and mentally, but she can still be sensitive, cute and have her weaknesses at times. She’s all about justice and doing what’s right, but can admit her own mistakes and adapt her judgment when she sees that what she believes in isn’t always right. Despite her intelligence, she can be a bit silly especially with the right crowd. She fits in very well the the 3S’ due to that reason and is often either as exasperated as Yuzu, or takes part in all their weirdness and banter
She’s also extremely beautiful, which is a breath of fresh air for me because the amount of times that I’ve read stories where the LIs often mentioned that the MC was plain looking or ugly at first… I actually don’t think it’s bad to have an average looking or "ugly" MC, but after the other titles or games that I’ve played, it was good to finally have a MC all the LIs could basically admire and compliment like she’s a literal goddess. Especially if the reader is supposed to project onto the MC (it’s nicer to be expected to look like Venus rather than Gollum…🤣) To be honest, whenever I read titles, I always imagine the MC to look like my OC, so it hurts to see the LIs think she’s not especially pretty at first 🥹
As for what I don’t like about her, nothing really in particular, but there are things I wished I could have seen more. In her character introduction in the app, she’s described as a sort of sister figure to other women, but I’ve never seen that yet.
Tumblr media
I’ve seen women either be friendly, or jealous, but I’ve never seen her have a sort of sisterly role towards any females. Given her career, it wouldn’t be odd for her to be admired by other fellow agents too so I kind of wish to see that. I actually really hope we can even see her actual family and have her meet her younger siblings. We had a few interactions with her parents and especially her mom, but I hope we get to meet her brother and sister as well. It would bring a lot more characterization to her.
Some people could also argue that in Kazuomi’s route, she’s often left aside to give place to Kazuomi who’s always a few steps ahead of her, and therefore her talents and character isn’t as fully explored compared to other routes. Personally that doesn’t bother me a lot, because it’s already been clear how good she is, and Kazuomi is definitely the main guy with a lot of depth to his own character, so it makes sense that it’s tougher for her to shine when she’s against him. That doesn’t remove any of her greatness. Her being the way she is is already exceptional if we take into account that a lot of other MCs never reached her level of characterization
Kei
There are many things I like about Kei. His story, first of all, which I didn’t expect to turn out this way at all the first time I’ve read his first season. Seeing his growth and changes have felt like going on a journey. If he’s potentially not interesting to read as a LI, I’d say he’s at least great to read simply for the whole character development and story building. He’s slow burn, which may not be appealing to many, but it feels worth it whenever we reach the stages we have wished to see.
I would argue that the writing of his route make him one of the best, if not the best, story among Voltage titles. I say this despite liking Kazuomi’s route the most, because I can only bow down to such a beautiful route. It’s so unique and difficult and confusing at the same time. It’s like you’re experiencing what he feels about love alongside him. He has so many sides to him that give him a lot of depth, and I didn’t expect to witness this type of character before.
His trauma and story telling is handled in a very bold way. I had never seen Voltage write such a tragic background story before. It’s not like I’ve read every title out there, but from everything I could see, it seems like MK overall is very unique. I also love his sense of humor and his playful attitude. He’s a big tease, which is perfect to enhance Kazuomi’s own playfulness and to get on Yuzu’s last nerves
Something I wish would have been different in his story however would be how Caleb was handled at the end of his arrest once they managed to stop him. I just wish it would have been more spectacular. The final fight wasn’t bad, but it could have had more impact, more spice to it in the fighting scenes ✨
Yuzu
He’s great, and so are his flaws. I always think about how his qualities and flaws are perfect combinations, he is pretty relatable and realistic. I once heard something that approximately said that, in a given trait, all our qualities have a "trap", and that these traps basically lead to our flaws. In this case, I always thought how Yuzu’s perfectionism can turn into stubbornness and lead to frustration. Just like his sensitivity is hidden and shut down by his rationality a lot of times. I think he can be very relatable, especially to those who struggle to open up and communicate their feelings, even with themselves.
I really like that he uses his knowledge about technology to face his problems, such as saying that when he and the MC argue, they have a "bug" that needs to be fixed. It’s really cute and adds to his hard working or nerdy nature. He obviously always tries to do his best and while it’s hard for him to admit it, he’s very fond of his closed ones and will always be there for them. I also love how he is intelligent in many ways. He’s not narcissistic or condescending to those who appear less intelligent than him, he always wants to do better and takes others’ opinions into consideration if they matter.
As for what I’m hoping to see in the game for him, I’d say more interactions between him and Kazuomi. Maybe due to having the same writer, it seems Yuzu and Kei are shown to be especially close but we know they all share a deep bond with different dynamics. It would be nice to see more key moments that would show the type of bond they have as well, since Yuzu is said to respect Kazu a lot in his own character introduction
Kazuomi
Of course there are way too many things I love about this man since he’s my favorite. I love how confident he is, how he always manages to stay in control of things, and how fun he can be. He’s the type of character that makes you think everything will be alright in the end. I also love that this personality he has might not be his actual one, and I’m only looking forward to seeing how he really is. He’s really mysterious at times, and his past seems to be deeply present in his mind even now. He’s the only one who is the most discreet when it comes to opening up about it, so it’s really making me curious to know what happened.
What I love the most is how good and unique his relationship with the MC is. They’re at the same time completely compatible personality-wise, and at the same time, their work make their relationship hard to operate like a normal one. I don’t especially wish anything from his route would be altered, but I’m hoping to see he and MC finally reach a sort of stability in their relationship where they can settle down without thinking that what they have might be temporary. With MC’s job and Kazuomi’s tactics that will make him reveal himself to her one day, we don’t know what will happen between them, but I’m optimistic about their future. They were basically made for each other
Seiichi
I absolutely love him, which is why I will take this opportunity to expose my love and rant about all the things I need to rant about. There are a few things that should have been explored before stopping his stories, which is why I’m mad that they decided to stop writing for him. Things such as seeing more of his older sister, who was implied to appear again to fight back against Seiichi and MC, if I remember correctly. In the end, we won’t know what she would have done if they had decided to continue more with his stories. We also needed to know more about him. About how his grandparents raised him, getting more PoVs of his past, etc…
Something that I’ve found very weird is that when you play Kazuomi’s Ultimate Vacation, you can decide to get a PoV of the Boss. If you choose it, Boss then quickly has a thought about his past, about how the island he grew up in had marijuana plantations, and then you learn that his island ended up destroyed as a result. I didn’t understand why they discontinued his story only to reveal things here and there in other routes. I don’t want breadcrumbs about him, I want the whole bakery (and I say that as a French 😡😂)
Really though, I don’t know what was the point of doing this, I love learning more about him, so it’s all fine with me, but why in Kazuomi’s route? Why make a PoV option for him when you’re only going to show a few lines about his past and then move on to Kazu’s story again? I found all this very interesting and mysterious. Maybe they couldn’t follow with his story since he was the least read of the bunch, so they decided to expose what they had planned for him in the other routes for the fans.
Maybe my only wish was that he wasn’t made out to be such a jerk to MC in Kei’s route S1. I don’t mind that he can appear as an antagonist at first, but this really seemed to have killed a lot of readers’ will to try out his route due to that, when he’s actually a great character with good morals. Lacking readers for his route is most probably the reason why they decided to stop writing for him, too.
There’s something else I wish (maybe?) could have been different in his story. There’s the fact that the EAC is, depending on the route, either depicted as controversial in their way of handling things, or as a good agency that wants to bring justice. It would have been good that in the end, MC didn’t become a senior agent for the EAC in my opinion. I was pretty disgusted by the agency to be honest. It was made clear that the EAC higher ups would have never promoted MC to a senior agent position if it weren’t for Seiichi faking his death (and we never knew why they never wanted her to become one in the end), and it was revealed later on that the EAC lacked agents after Seiichi made sure to "take care" of the agents who were rotten.
Technically, we learned that the EAC they were working for had their bad apples as well. Even if Seiichi took care of them after disappearing, I felt pretty bitter to see MC become a senior agent for the EAC when they didn’t have the intention to choose her willingly at first. And of course I was also super sad because Seiichi wasn’t here anymore, which led her to live without him for a few years before finally reuniting again. I loved their reunion, but I just felt sad that things had to turn out this way for them. I’m thinking that this ending wasn’t planned at first, and they they came up with it as a last resort to end his route earlier, because there are quite a few plot holes that were supposed to be filled later on in future stories.
Aside from that, I loved his route overall and only dislike that they treated him "badly" compared to the other LIs. He’s really mysterious which is what made me so obsessed with learning more about him at first, and then made him my second favorite. I also loved how he protected MC against the EAC when they wanted to pin her as a criminal, and how in other routes he also seems to care for her, even if it’s very subtle.
I feel like with his type of characterization, he was made for readers to interpret his acts a lot. He loves to confuse MC at times and they have this sort of banter where they won’t admit their feelings and will unmask the other, which I really love. I love that he yearns for her quietly and will only show her a fraction of it to tease her, and possibly to indulge himself too
Thank you for the ask, and sorry if my answer was long! Take care as well!! ❤️

In Defense of Bad Things
'Bad' here meaning mostly 'amateur'; stuff made enthusiastically by people at an unprofessional level. Art with visible gaps between what the artist imagined and what they achieved, products of flawed craftsmanship. I suppose everybody can appreciate them to some extent, it's a rare parent that doesn't put up their kid's drawings on the fridge in one way or another. But it turns out to be a fully general skill you can cultivate, and the more I do, the more I'm glad I did.
Partly, it's the teacher thing; finding delight in amateur work is one of the ways to find delight in the process of learning. Cultivating a love of striving-qua-striving can help make you a force for good in the world, as people start to feel safe trying to do things when you're around, even when their efforts are wobbly. You get to participate a little more in the process of atoms spinning themselves into ideas, even when there aren't any illusions about whether you're helping cultivate some revolutionary genius in the field.
And partly it's a fabulous way to build community. By necessity, our professional-level skills tend to be at the service of other people, performed for economic benefit; that's kind of how you get professionally good at something in the first place. When we're acting for our own sake, and among friends, most of what we do with one another is amateurish. I only cook middling-okay, I can't hold a tune that well, I'll never be a speed runner for anything. If you can only enjoy singing from the hundred best singers in the whole world, manufactured and polished by major studios, then you and your friends will sit shoulder-to-shoulder and passively listen to music. But it's so much richer an experience to sit face-to-face, actually singing together, even badly; you expose yourself to so many new ways to appreciate and respect one another, building relationships on what you've accomplished and not just by witty criticism or liking the same things.
And partly it's because some of the most powerful and innovative artistic experiences are in high-churn environments with low expectations and low barriers to entry, if only because those catch the passionate and driven young people that have been otherwise overlooked by our systems. The golden age of webcomics meant that a ton of the actual art involved was pretty lousy, but it also produced work that people still talk about today. D&D began as a profoundly unpolished collection of handmade rulebooks sold at cons in a plastic baggie. By the time these products of enthusiastic amateurs filter themselves through various levels of popularity and absorb mainstream cash influx, they're often risk-averse and missing a lot of the bold spark that inspired their fans in the first place; others will simply never drift towards the mainstream at all. I'm not saying you should be the person who goes out to dig through the slush piles of the internet looking for overlooked art, unless you want to be-- but sometimes a work of actual staggering genius also happens to be a Supernatural fanfic by a first-time author who's a little hazy on commas, and if that's a dealbreaker, you're going to miss out on some profoundly valuable experiences.
And hiding behind all of these things is, like...
Our appreciation of beauty has an odd structure, right? When things are done very skillfully, by brilliant artists with years of training, we can usually appreciate those accomplishments. And when we're looking at nature without human influence, and especially when we think very deeply about natural processes and understand them in context, we often rediscover that sense of beauty. There's just this bizarre hole in the middle where we declare things 'ugly'; as if a little skill is worse than none at all.
I really don't trust that gap. It feels like a trick my brain is playing on me, you know? It has me suspicious that a lot of what I consider 'ugly' or 'bad' is not a very direct experience of the world at all, or an informed judgment. That it is, rather, a declaration of (self-, social-) identity; a desire to be seen as a person of good taste, or as somebody who does things well, or just more primitively as one of the monkeys who is in the good-stuff-tribe and not one of the monkeys who is in the bad-stuff-tribe.

Why don't you post yourself as much anymore?
Umm first, thanks for asking this. It’s been on my mind for a while now how the things I love shape who I am. Whether it's books, movies, architecture, art, music or little art pieces I create in my free time. Hopefully those of you who've been following me for a while can resonate. When I share moments that really mean something to me it feels better than just the surface or the physical. I don't post for the response or engagement. There's weeks/months that will go by without me posting because I just don't feel like it. I've always felt uneasy about the pressures of social media and the constant need to keep up and document every moment, every outfit, every event, every meal. It feels like a vicious cycle I don't want to be part of. I know it’s part of life nowadays but still it doesn't quite sit right with me. Finding balance is everything and truly I admire those who can navigate this space because definitely I can’t
Years ago I used to stress about losing followers but my perspective has changed where I see it as a positive when my follower count goes down. I realise that the ones who stick around appreciate the same things I do which in turn brings me peace and no pressure.
Sharing the beauty of things that surround me, inspire me in the moment, or creating something which I’m proud to post means more than constantly posting pictures of myself. Also who wants to see my face all the time 😅 . This doesn't mean I won't post myself from time to time but I'll do it when it feels natural to me. Everyone discovers happiness in their own unique way and that's perfectly fine. I'm just following what brings me joy and hoping it resonates with others too. So thank you if you've stayed and I'm glad we can share this space together.

Bengiyo Queer Cinema Syllabus
Not to sound repetitive but, I had a busy couple weeks, but finally had a second to return to @bengiyo’s queer cinema syllabus. I am currently working my way through Unit 4: Heartbreak Alley, the totally light-hearted, definitely not agonizing section of the syllabus where I get to watch countless acts of violence be committed against queer people. Thank fuck I have Lesbians waiting for me at the end of this unit. The films in Unit 4 are: Bent (1997), Strange Fruit (2004), Boys Don’t Cry (1999), Brokeback Mountain (2005), Parting Glances (1986), Philadelphia (1993), The Living End (1992), Holding the Man (2015), Jeffery (1995), and Boys on the Side (1995).
Today I will be talking about
Parting Glances (1986) dir. Bill Sherwood
Tumblr media
[Run Time: 1:30, Available: tubi and fubo, Language: English]
Summary: As Michael and Robert, a gay couple in New York, prepare for Robert's departure for a two-year work assignment in Africa, Michael must face Robert's true motives for leaving while dealing with their circle of eccentric friends, including Nick, who is living with AIDS.
Cast:
John Bolger as Robert
Richard Ganoung as Michael
Steve Buscemi as Nick
__
Well, I have to say this was very much not what I was expecting for the first AIDS related movie of the syllabus. After some pretty hefty violent deaths of queer characters in the first half of Unit 4, I was very much anticipating the heart wrenching tragedies to continue immediately once I hit the AIDS epidemic portion. But Parting Glances very much subverted my expectations of what I was walking in to, because honestly…so much of it was lovely.
It’s not that tragedy is not a part of this movie, it is, it’s just hidden under the layer of friendship, community, and love that feels like the core theme of the film. I am thinking about the party at Joan’s and how much happiness and celebration was happening there, with community abound, and yet how Michael kept telling people they should call Nick because he would appreciate it, showing just how much Nick has lost of his own community since his HIV/AIDS diagnosis.
Tumblr media
I really loved how real these relationships to one another felt, the way that Michael and Robert were playful with each other, the way that Nick sat on Michael’s lap so casually for a few minutes when Michael cooked him dinner, I loved the conversation Robert had with his ex-girlfriend, the young and hopeful queer boy who wished to live forever. I just loved watching the queer community be a queer community.
Even in the moments that get a little dour, where Michael gets especially weepy with Nick, those scenes did not make me sad, did not destroy me the way other films in this syllabus have, because that is just grief. Grief is a mighty and terrible thing, but I find beauty in it as well. I find beauty and loveliness in the fact that those tears came from Michael finally admitting to Nick that he loved him, that Nick got to hear himself that he was loved, especially when so many people seemed to have fallen away from him after his diagnosis. I find comfort in the conversations about death that Michael and Joan have together, because those are conversations I’ve had, they feel familiar, they feel like a natural part of life, perhaps they should not have to feel those points so soon, but Nick himself is right, living forever is the only thing none of us can do.
Tumblr media
I really loved that we saw Nick when he was at a stage in his illness where he was simply being careful, but was still full of life, energetic, that he was able to be a support system for Michael and was not only being tended to. We know what is coming, but we are not made to see it. I was really in to what the film did with it’s use of ominous backing track, that Nick could hear it, that it felt like the progression of his illness, that it felt like a sense of impending doom, a cloud that hangs over Nick.
Throughout a lot of this film I found myself thinking about The Inheritance Part One & Part Two, a play written in 2016 based off of the book Howard’s End by EM Forster. I saw this play a few years back and was lulled in to a false sense of security that this would not be a play about AIDS because it was set in the relatively modern day with a focus on younger queer characters, but ohhhhhhh how wrong I was. Towards the end of the first part, we hear a story from a character named Walter, an older gay man that lived in the same building as the main characters, and he recounts the story of his life, how his husband, Henry, built a farm outside of New York city for the two of them to live in…right around the time that AIDS started decimating the area. How that distance still was not good enough for Henry so he would leave on business trips, because his fear of catching AIDS was so strong.
Walter tells the story of when he went back in to the city for the first time, and ran in to a friend he used to know, who had acquired AIDS and was on the brink of death. He talks about how when Henry was away, he brought that kid to the farm Henry had built to hide from AIDS, and Walter cared for that boy until he died. Walter talks about doing that again and again and again and again, dozens of times, he would go in to the city, bring a friend back home, and care for them until they passed.
Tumblr media
^[sidebar: I very much do not like Robert]
Part of the play ends with Walter being asked what it was like at that time, Walter asks the main characters to name someone they know, they give a name, he says “they’re dead. Give me another name, he’s dead”. For what felt like minutes, name after name after name is called and name after name after name is dead. When I saw that scene I broke down in the theater, I cried for the entirety of the walk back to the train station, I was brought to the brink of tears at the thought of that scene for a month after I saw the show.
I mention this because it was all that I could think about while watching Robert and Michael interact with one another, while seeing this plot unfold. Robert fleeing New York while Michael stayed to care for his dying friend. Knowing that Walter and Henry stayed together after all was said and done, after Henry had stopped running from reality, and the death rates had slowed; then seeing Robert decide not to go to Africa, and how Michael did not show any signs of planning to break up with Robert knowing, despite knowing how Robert felt too settled, how Robert had chosen to go, despite knowing that Robert was running from loss, and running from being a support for Michael when the love of his life finally dies.
So despite the fact that Parting Glances didn’t evoke the same feelings, though I felt like overall it was a relatively upbeat, uptempo, gentle film, the current underneath it all, the dying underneath it all, the tragedy is right there but it is just out of reach.
Favorite Scene
Tumblr media
I think my favorite scene is when Joan and Michael are laying in bed together, holding stuffed animals at Robert’s going away party while they just casually talk about death and dying. It just felt very much like a conversation I have had with my best friend on multiple occasions, especially lately because we've had a number of deaths happen in our lives recently. And yes, my friend and I both match the type of conversation part this scene, and also the beating each other up with stuffed animals part of this scene.
Obviously we do not spend enough time with the other characters at the party to know exactly what is going on in their lives, and there is not doubt many if not all of them have lost loved ones to AIDS, but we know that Joan and Michael are really the only two people who go and visit Nick, and it feels so symbolic of the weight that they are shouldering caring for their dying friend to have the only two people who have not cut themselves off from Nick be sitting together, in another room away from all the other gay attendees, discussing, speculating, joking about death.
Favorite Quote
Tumblr media
We all know the real right answer is: “Straight men are jerks. Gay men are jerks. Straight women are jerks. That leaves lesbians and they are off in their ivory towers laughing their heads off at the rest of us. I should’ve been a dyke”
But I am going to go for the more serious:
“...look at the others, waiting, wondering if some innocent moment of pleasure long past can set them up with the ultimate form of [German word my subtitles did not state]...  I’d like to stage a piece in which all of the performers are people who are terminally ill, can you imagine the intensity, the concentration, the purpose”
This is said off-handedly in a conversation between Joan and a heterosexual male artist who was attending the party. I put it here for two reasons: a) the first half is a very succinct commentary on the state of the queer community (at least who were at the party) and feels like general commentary about the movie’s premise as a whole. Especially because Nick talks about how he didn’t realize how long the gestation period of HIV was, and by the time he started taking protective measures it was already too late. b) because the second half is just the most pretentious, absolutely mindless, careless, and shitty thing to say to someone who is actively losing a friend to a terminal illness. This fucking hetero artist came in to a room full of queer people and decided that dying people would be great to put in to his next project for ~The Vibes~ and I love that comment so much because first, it shows how much he Does Not Get It, and second because of how much disgust is baked in to Joan’s “Excuse me” as she leaves before he can finish his thought.
Because to say that to someone who is watching loved one after loved one after loved one die before their eyes is an absolutely disgusting thing to do (in my opinion).
Final Score
8/10

omg that dbf pornstar!bucky drabble😩>> becca do you have anymore thots about him🙏
I always have thots about ps!dbf!bucky! 😏
Because I feel like that dick is addictive. Let's face it, you're gonna be daydreaming about it for weeks on end, good sex is so hard to forget.
Tumblr media
I like to imagine it's pretty addictive for him too though because above all else, this sex is real. It's an opportunity for him to truly enjoy sex with a connection, rather than just scripted positions. It's grounded in real pleasure because neither of you are acting. You're kissing him because you want to kiss him. You're biting his shoulder because that's what feels right to you in that moment. You're asking for what you want next. Nothing is scripted; nothing is expected and that's such a different set up to what he's used to.
When you first start hooking up, the sex is bound to be so frantic. It's like the lust just bubbles over all of a sudden and your lips are on his while you try to get each other out of your clothes as quickly as possible. And that's nice! It feels good even just to get to take your clothes off because that's not something he has to do at work.
"You're so pretty, angel." He whispers, kissing down your neck so slowly. It's even nice to just get a chance to whisper because he doesn't get that in the studio. You're the only person that can hear him right now and it nearly gives him a kind of thrill. He doesn't have to think about tensing his muscles and looking his best, he can show you an intimate kind of sex where he's a lot less guarded and self conscious.
"Bucky..." You whine, your head thrown back, giving his mouth complete access to your throat.
"I know baby, I know. You're so needy. I bet you're ready for me already." A hand drifts under your skirt, up to your panties, rubbing you like he owns your cunt. His confidence makes you squirm and his gentle hum of approval leaves you wanting to squeeze your thighs together. You know you're soaked but it's almost embarrassing that he knows it now too.
"You've never had a man touch you like this before, have you blossom? You've never had someone who knows what you need and knows how to give it to you. Used to tell you all the time to stop dating those stupid boys." The pressure he's applying with his fingertips on your clothed pussy is perfect while you shake your head no. He's firm but considerate, letting you press yourself desperately against him in an effort to take more.
"They had no idea how you like to be touched, did they? And honestly sweetheart, neither do I. I don't know what you like yet. But I can promise you, I'm gonna work it out. I'll try everything we can think of. How does that sound? Just keep you in bed for a couple of days. I bet we could find things you didn't even realise you were into. That sound like a good idea?" His voice is calm and measured, his breath hot on your neck and his suggestion sounds pretty damn perfect.
He loses his cool a little when you nod quickly. You're as keen on this as he is and it's that mutual excitement at the prospect of some more really good sex that makes this even better for him.

I know it's just mindlessly assigning personal significance to what truly are complete random acts of circumstance or etc, but I still enjoy casually adopting the attitude that I am somehow Nature's Most Favorite Little Babey Boy. If it's hot outside and a cool breeze randomly happens, that wind was created for me specifically. A bird lands near me? They were sent here just for ME personally to see. If it rains at just the right time when I was thinking of rain earlier that day, the rain was created as a gift to me. etc. etc.

Can we talk about this:
Tumblr media
No, not the feat itself. I mean the jiggle physics on Kai. If you look closely, you can actually see his belly (andtiddies) jiggle a little. The detail in this movie is absolutely astounding!!!!!
...Thank you for your time that is all.

Pretty people
Thinking bout… pretty people. Just pretty, you know?
Pretty people I’ve dated and their scars and little quirks.
Pretty people I’m friends with who got smiles and voices that brighten my day.
Pretty people who got big friends groups to form a functional human being and look out for each other.
Pretty people who live in my head rent free metaphorically and literally.
I am also thinking of pretty people who just know how to appreciate small things in life to help make the world a lil happier for themselves. I don’t think they know that makes them extra pretty.
Pretty people who got eyes and don’t have eyes. Any color even it brings them all together
Pretty people who’s minds are perceiving the horrors while they act like it’s normal. Those pretty people are more common than you think.
Pretty people who got little features that culminate to make them whole be it stuff they can control like how they style their hair, to stuff they can’t, like having an extra finger.
Pretty people who aren’t people at all. Those are in my head too.
Pretty people can come in many different forms be it size, shape, voices, from a stranger on a subway to even text on a screen.
Pretty people are all around us, it’s a matter of taking in the small stuff that makes them whole.
Why are people so pretty?
Why are you so pretty?
#uh oh kit’s in love with all her friends at once again#I’m just- *sigh* it’s hard thinking about the homies and wondering if they appreciate themselves the way I see them#I have vagued a few but… man why are people so pretty?#I want to just hold them and wonder about it…#might pin this#so all my friends and mutuals can see#to ramble a bit I have friends with burn scars on their body that I find pretty- ex lovers now friends who feel not enough#in the bodies they have but it’s like- bro I just think you are so pretty I want to accent that natural beauty you have#man I wanna help my friends feel pretty in their body but alas I’m a college student#don’t tell one of them but I’m hoping that when I get my career that I can put money to the side to help her get the presentation of gender#that she wants like- I just wanna help them so much bro to see that I am out here with a heart full of love and pockets I’m working on fill-#ing to help them figure out how pretty they are#*sigh* this probably doesn’t make sense but I just think they are so pretty like- all of them#even my mutuals be pretty too with words n just hanging around like- I fucking see you bro#i’m in my feels#I’m feelin this bro#I want to like- so badly hold and hug them all like- even if you don’t like hugs I will stand to the side and give you the most approving#thumbs up I can because I fuckin love them bro they are my homies they have been with me through#thicc and thin and thick again like- AAAA#I just really love them they are my besties and like I wanna sob maybe cry a little over how much I love the#them they are just so much good people and I care for them a lot#this post doesn’t make a lot of sense but they are so good#Also pretty is the only word I can use to describe people and it means so much when I use it#it isn’t just that they are pretty they bring me joy beyond belief and I wanna cry

#will delete this soon but just momentarily very annoyed#at religious people who see atheists or people from other religions read their holy book or learn more about their religion#and assume that that will lead them to convert#and it's sometimes with good intentions like i just saw someone saying people outside of their faith have good hearts and therefore#when they read this faith's holy texts it'll click with us and we'll naturally convert#and sometimes it's kinda iffy like oh see our revealed knowledge says that people will convert to our religion in multitudes#but either way it misses this massive thing#which is that agreeing with a religion's ethics or finding an aspect of it beautiful#does not mean anything about whether you'll believe it's *true*#i would love to believe in an afterlife#i cannot#i cannot make myself believe in something if i am not personally compelled by the evidence#there are many beautiful things in many religions but appreciating them does not change my fundamental lack of belief#in anything that defies the laws of physics#i don't say that to denigrate religious faith as irrational#if you are compelled by the evidence and have thought about your beliefs and come to the conclusion that eg god(s) are real#that's great! you're not an irrational or stupid person we just see things differently#but please give us atheists the same grace#please respect our lack of belief as something we cannot change about ourselves#just as you won't go 'ohh shit god's not real after all' overnight just because we tell you that's what we believe#idk mutual understanding and an end to proselytizing from ALL parties would go a long way imo
