one post I will make on the palworld thing is this; even if the AI stuff ends up being false (I have seen one post and the only hard proof it offered was "the eyes and mouth on this guy and that guy are the same"; I've also heard the big post of like "AI art" the creator was using was actually a commentary on a buzzfeed article or something) and there's no moral reason to avoid palworld it's still a very unimaginative "edgy pokemon" concept I just really cannot get over little cartoon bears firing AK47s

this is something that would've showed up in a newgrounds animation where pikachu like killed a bunch of people arbitrarily in the early 2000's and the joke is Lol Pokemon With Gun Commits Incredible Violence essentially that said a distaste for nintendo products is fine and a fair stance to take, nintendo is well on the way to becoming video game disney; but monster crown did this 4 years ago in a much less visually and thematically dissonant way, there are Loads of indie monster trainers these days

I additionally think the pro nintendo lobby is not nearly as powerful as everyone seems to think but that's been a consistent issue since video game discourse began so whatever maybe I'm wrong and nintendo is hiring paid actors to shit on palworld on twitter when, if the rumors are true, they have a perfectly functioning plagarism case Right There

I am here to Post

still nothing particularly impressive to show off but I'm still largely tripping over pieces of social media styled expectations for creativity so it's not that surprising; I Will probably have something next time (but it's nothing artsy it's a video game feat of strength I've been working on for a while and honestly a pretty mediocre one don't get too excited)

at any rate I have been waiting for the new rimworld expansion ( Anomaly ) with bated breath and the book of hours expansion is drawing my eye quite a lot lately too (though it seems to be farther out)

weird SCP facility colony builder sim is within reach; it remains to be see if it is executed well

it's a fun concept so it's a pity to see it's essentially ended the honeymoon the playerbase had with rimworld; a lot of people are not really interested in it it seems

besides that I've fufilled my contractual obligation to buy a survivors-like every six months or so and grabbed god of weapons; I dunno if it beats halls of torment for me specifically but if you're heavy into the inventory tetris thing it may be Your Game Of The Genre

(I also got backpack hero with it, it's a similar inventory tetris focused slay the spire iteration and it's also good, very similar, but different game structure, namely it's slay the spire instead of vampire survivors big surprise I know)

and since this is The Check In Post Where I Talk About Video Games; I'm just going to link some games I just sorta thought seemed notable while browsing the "new" tab on steam so you don't have to wade through all the hentai games yourself; I know very little about any of these and it's strictly a "hey this game is new and doesn't seem to have gotten a lot of attention"

Auto Forge (terraria + factorio; though a lot of people note it's really more of a 2D factorio)

From Glory to Goo (RTS about holding a position against goo monsters; nothing really exceptionally weird about this I just thought it looked like a solid viddy game)

QUIT TODAY (beat em up with a newgrounds visual style)

Bones Cafe (a plate up esque game with automation in the form of ressurecting skeletons to work for you; you can also butcher and make food out of the customers, despite what this all sounds like it's very cute)

Concrete Visions (token This Game Looked Weird And It Drew My Eye game; to be honest the entire thing is sort've giving me a weird vibe with this website toting a developer review from a website that I've never heard of so do with that what you will I guess

it all feels a little money launder-ey I guess is what I'm saying but I Am Mentally Ill so please don't take that as case of this being well founded or even logical as I was doing this in the wee hours of the morning)

It's Finally Happened; I am adjusting my social media habits

I'm going to be on social media less. I'm mostly looking to get rid of my reflexive habit if opening tumblr/twitter and reading through it for fifteen minutes every hour and a half or so.

It also means when I do post, I'll be posting something that's actually, like, a thing. Me talking about something that's happened, or posting something I've made, or written, or recorded or whatever. When I do this I might buzz around and reblog a bit, but again I'm not going to be doing it for more then a "session" essentially. Part of this is also attempting to sever my weird obsession with notes. It's never gotten too bad but especially with creative stuff I would feel bad if it did not get internet points. Which is dumb. Hopefully this'll allow me to post more of my creative shit without feeling nude. Or feeling less nude, at any rate.

Ultimately social media is effecting my personal perception of the world more then I'd like, and I think it's also negatively effecting my perception of myself. I'm not trying to get rid of it entirely, but I am trying to purge the internet brainrot. I'm also using this as an opportunity to be more social in general, talking to people I've not spoken to in a while on discord, doing multiplayer stuff more often, etc etc. If you've been on my discord for years and I've never spoken to you; Maybe I Will Now, Do Not Be Afraid.

I will still be on discord, and I will still pop on now and then to check for people asking for my Discord. If you want to keep tabs on me on a personal level, just ask for my discord.

honestly I never understood why (well okay I did but let's keep it positive) people disliked TV tropes

I once more have nothing but respect for people that can dissect things to that level and basically any damage it did that was not linked to an individual was linked to people overreacting to it

I have no hard proof but I feel like the whole "tropes are bad full stop" thing was linked to people becoming aware of TVtropes

it seemed to spring up a bit after it started getting more attention

once it was in OR/AS, an absol, which I happily accepted because absol cool and second, a shiny poliwag, one of my favorite evo lines (poliwrath), in HG/SS before I could buy pokeballs
