Freyja-Ubasti
A syncretic form of both Bastet, of the Egyptian pantheon, and Freyja, of the Germanic pantheon. Both of them are associated with love, sexuality, joy, as well as warfare. Freyja is associated with cats as they pull her chariot, and Bastet is depicted as a cat. It's only reasonable for the two goddesses to have a syncretic form together, along with Sekhmet, who could perhaps be syncretized with the more battle and warfare oriented aspects of Freyja.

Could you write a poem for Bast if you have some extra time ? ✨️ Dua Bast !
Sistrums rattle,
Hips sway,
A tail curls behind one's form,
O' Bast,
Mistress of Perfumes,
You shake your sistrum,
and the sound of it's beauty
fills my ka with strength.
You uplift my ba,
letting it soar towards the sky,
and flutter over the Two Lands.

opening myself again to the Netjeru
Im Hotep y'all. Depression has been whooping me again and now that I'm back home, I don't have room for my altar. Given certain circumstances, I've felt cut off from the Netjeru. But thanks to a therapy session, I've utilized some tools to open myself up again, to show I still love them and I'm open to their presence.
So, I've decided to write a poem with the intent to open my heart, mind, and soul to their various gifts and guidance. I hope this helps some of y'all with your deity work and your craft. Blessed be!
Woes and troubles weigh me, Yet all are not mine to carry. However, they've become solid stones. That I've sealed myself in a tomb, alone.
But I'm not alone, for They are still here. They surround me, though my sight hasn't been clear. One by one, I finally recall Them, name by name. Without These ones, my life would never be the same.
Bastet, Mother of mothers, my feline friend. I open myself to Your guiding love, which knows no end. Hathor, Lady of the stars, my beautiful bovine, I open myself to Your sweet joy, which proves divine.
Sobek, Pointed of teeth, my courageous crocodile, I open myself to swim with the currents of Your Nile. Sekhmet, Destroyer of enemies, my limitless lioness, I open myself to Your fiery strength and prowess.
Anubis, Counter of hearts, my judicious jackal, I open myself to Your judgment and gracious console. Seth, before You the sky trembles, my storming sha, I open myself to Your guard like You guarded Ra.
Horus, Foremost in power, my heroic hawk, I open myself to Your victory in ample stock. Thoth, Chief of the books, my intelligent ibis. I open myself to Your creative sparks that bring bliss.
Last but not least, my angelic Angrid, I open myself to Your protection, most vivid. I devote my love to the mighty Netjeru all around, I open myself to Your presence, power and passion abound!

Bastet - Pile 1
Judgment ☆ 4/Cups ☆ Hanged Man
Bliss • Balance • Gateway
Bastet is speaking today about balance. You are feeling apathetic and stuck and waiting to be liberated. You are being invited to shift perspectives back into balance.
You also pulled the cards of gateway and of bliss, so I see nothing negative. It's simply a moment in time you must accept in order to grow. You will find your bliss, and you will charge through that gateway. You may partake in portal hopping. Just wait until this hanged man period is over before you do.
You are doing excellently, and Bastet is incredibly pleased with your devotion. All is well, my loves. You will come through this. You got this!
Santa Muerte - Pile 2
High Priestess ☆ Queen/Wands ☆ Chariot
Rebirth • Purity • Joy
The Holy Santa Muerta says today to spend more time with her. You are a strong and powerful priestess as well as a queen on earth, and you've been keeping a steady and progressive pace.
You are being invited to cleanse and purify your aura and your space so that you can continue being the badass you are. Joy is what is promised to you when you devote yourself to purity and embrace your rebirth.
You have amazing energy, and everything will work out, even if you're struggling at the moment. So proud of you my lovelies!
Kali Ma - Pile 3
Wheel of Fortune ☆ Ace/Swords ☆ Sun
Revelation • Eternal Light • Spectrum
The Great Kali Ma is speaking to you today about cycles and seasons. You have an intensely deep energy here. You are being offered Eternal Light through a revelation of some kind. You also have a new idea and clarity of thought, which is good because the sun is assured for you. You will succeed.
I'm being told you need to sit in not only spiritual light but also literal light. Go find some sunshine or even a bright room. Keep working your mantras and your prayers. Keep the faith is specifically coming through.
You have a wonderful and intense moody and edgy energy. You are amazingly cool and deserve good things. Keep up your prayers and go sit in some light and you are promised a revelation.
Kuan Yin - Pile 4
9/Wands ☆ 3/Wands ☆ Lovers
Isolation • Rebirth • Wisdom
The Auspicious Kuan Yin is speaking messages of rebirth and love. It seems as if your love life is going through it, but you are persevering and making progress slowly but surely. You may want to isolate or just focus on tasks to be done. However, you are being called to step into your wisdom.
You have already experienced a rebirth. Do not allow anyone to distract you from the hard work you have already achieved. Focus on your loved ones and the partnerships you have already achieved in your life. These relationships are what is going to inspire to keep going. To keep changing and to keep pushing towards your goals.
You have an amazing attitude and work ethic and I'm so proud of how hard you have been working. Kuan Yin is guiding you, so reach out and ask her for guidance and support.

Amulet depicting goddess Sekhmet, Third Intermediate Period, part of the British Museum’s collection
Glazed composition amulet of Sekhmet: represented as a seated woman with maned lion's head moulded in bright blue glazed composition. Her long hair is divided by the shoulders and she wears a full-length dress. Anklets, armlets and bracelets are picked out in a darker blue glaze. She sits on an openwork block throne, decorated on each side with representations of stellar decans in the form of snakes. On her knee, Sekhmet holds a shrine shaped sistrum or rattle and across her chest carries a papyrus scepter whose long stem runs to her ankles. The green sappy papyrus was symbolic of new life and a sceptre in its shape is only found in the hands of goddesses.
The presence of the sistrum, a musical instrument connected with merrymaking, suggests the lion-headed goddess may represent Bastet in her original fearsome form. As an amulet it would have been worn to show particular devotion and to place the wearer under the protection of the great goddess.

Anubis Deity Guide
Tumblr media
Who is Anubis?
Depicted as a being with the body of a man and the head of a jackal, Anubis is the Egyptian god of the dead. He is also the god of mummification, lost souls, and the helpless. Anubis is one of the oldest gods of ancient Egypt and was possibly derived from the older jackal god Wepwawet, as the two are often conflated.
Due to his role as god of the dead and afterlife, he also held domain over justice and has been depicted holding scales to determine the “weight” of the person’s soul.
Parents and Siblings
Ra (his father originally)
Hesat (mother)
Bastet (sometimes referred to as his mother)
Osiris (his father in later stories)
Isis (his mother in later stories)
Horus (brother)
Babi (brother)
Sopdet (sister)
Wepwawet (brother)
Bata (brother)
Lovers or Partners
Anput (female counterpart of Anubis)
Children
Kebechet
Epithets
Anpu
Tpy-djuf - He Who Is upon His Mountain
Lord of the Sacred Land
Khentyamentiu - Foremost of the Westerners
He Who Is in the Place of Embalming
Guardian of the Scales
Notes
The name “Anubis” is the Greek form of the Egyptian name “Anpu” which means to decay.
The Greeks associated Anubis with Hermes, the Greek god who guided the dead to the afterlife. The two would be joined together to create Hermanubis, making him more accessible to non-Egyptians.
He was also worshiped in Greece on the island of Delos.
Anubis was said to be the creator of embalming.
His epithet “god of the westerners” means “god of the dead” as the Egyptian term for departed souls was “westerners”. This was because it was said that the afterlife was towards the west, the direction of the sunset.
Anubis was often depicted as a black Jackal or other canine or as a human with the head of a black jackal/canine. The black coloring was likely a nod to the discoloration of a dead body as well as the fertile silt of the Nile.
Anubis was regularly invoked for protection as well as vengeance.
The center of Anubis’ cult was set in Cynopolis, or “the city of the dog” but there were shrines sprinkled throughout all of Egypt.
There is a place that was known as Anubeion, where a shrine and a cemetery of mummified dogs and jackals were discovered east of Saqqara.
Originally Anubis’ father was Ra, though as Osiris gained popularity Anubis’ story got mixed up and he became the son of Osiris and Nephthys. In this later story, Nephthys tricked Osiris into having sex with her and became pregnant with Anubis who she soon abandoned for fear that her husband, Set, would find out about the affair. Osiris’ wife, Isis, found Anubis and adopted him.
In other stories, Anubis was said to be the son of Set or Bastet.

Volunteer at or donate to orphanages, as he is the patron of lost souls and orphans

Worshipping With Limited Space/Materials/Time/Etc.
One of my close friends has been asking me how to worship deities with limited space/privacy/materials/etc, so here it is. A guide on worshipping without space.
See @catnip-reed for my religious blog if you want.
Altars
There are many ways to have a small/discreet altar. Some people (including me) even make them online.
Travel Altars: a small altar (usually in a small box or tin can) made for traveling; usually includes a tealight candle, crystals, herbs, coins, and photos.
Discreet Altars: a collection of objects that doesn’t look like an altar but functions as one; usually includes decorations, colors, etc. that don’t directly point to it being an altar but still hold symbols of the deity (i.e. coquette decor for Aphrodite, cat-focused decor for Bastet, etc.)
Candles: literally just a candle; used to focus energy, sometimes contains herbs or crystals inside
Shoebox Altars: a shoebox filled with permanent offerings, statues or photos, candles, and other things commonly placed on an altar; usually stored away until needed
A Binder: a binder filled with art, poems, prayers, information, etc; can also be a notebook or deity journal (see my post about deity journals here)
Bags: bags or satchels of things related to the deity (i.e. coins, herbs, photos, etc.); can be emptied to set up a temporary altar or held when praying/offering/etc.
Books: a collection of books devoted to them; can be books related to their domains or books that remind you of them; used as an offering (reading) or communication (annotation)
Temporary Altars: altars that can be set up and taken down with ease; most commonly includes a small offering plate, a small cup, and sometimes candles, statues, or photos
Photos: a photo collage online or physical containing photos of the Gods and/or their domains; my favorite way to display these is as phone/computer backgrounds or on bulletin boards (similar to a vision board)
Pinterest: pinterest boards; a collage of pins of the Gods, their domains, and things that remind you of them
Tumblr: tumblr sideblogs; reblogging or posting things like quotes, photos, ideas, etc. that remind you of them
All in all, altars really are just a way for you to focus on your deity. In some religions, altars are a designated space for offerings. Depending on how you view them, you can make anything into an altar.
Divination
Some people like to use communication methods like tarot, runes, etc. to talk with their deities. For those who can’t openly own/use them or can’t afford them, here are some alternatives.
Lenormand Cards Website
Labyrinthos Tarot App
The Fool’s Dog Tarot App
Golden Thread Tarot App
The Classic 1910 Tarot App
A List of Oracle Card Apps
Cartomancy: using playing cards to divine
Astragalomancy: using dice to divine
Coins: flipping a coin to get a yes/no answer; there are other coin divination methods but many are closed
Bibliomancy: using books to divine; either a book falls on a specific page and you choose a random sentence or you choose a book, flip to a random page, and find a random sentence
Aeromancy: using weather to divine
Pyromancy: using flames from a candle/bonfire/etc. to divine
Capnomancy: using smoke to divine
Offerings
Offerings! One of my favorite things about my worship. Offerings are basically bribes so that your deities like you more /s. But seriously, offerings bring you closer to your deity.
Water: a simple cup of water; can be drank or left out for them
Food: either portions of your meal or food made for them; can be eaten or left out for them
Other Drinks: cups of other drinks; can be drank or left out for them; most commonly milk, alcohol, coffee, or tea
Candles & Incense: candles or incense devoted to them; can be lit or just kept in honor of them
Flowers: bouquets or single flowers; can be bought from stores or found outside (i.e. dandelions)
Honey: doesn’t have to be ethically sourced; can be added to teas and other drinks
Art: your own art or the art of others; includes music, playlists, digital art, poetry, drawings, paintings, instruments, etc.
Coins: many deities enjoy coins as offerings; can be offered to wealth/luck deities or can be offered to a deity because of the image (i.e. a coin with a sun on it can be offered to Apollon)
Devotional Acts
The only thing I love more than offerings. Also used to get closer to deities. Offerings of actions instead of physical things.
Donating: donating to organizations related to your deity (i.e. health organizations for Apollon)
Volunteering: volunteering at places related to your deity (i.e. dog shelters for Ares)
Practicing Good Hygiene: showering, washing your face, brushing your teeth and/or hair, etc.
Self-Care: ritual baths, face masks, relaxing, doing a hobby, etc; anything that makes you happy can be dedicated to a deity
Going Outside: taking a walk or sitting outside; some people make outside altars for some nature deities
Sunbathing/Cloudwatching/Starwatching: sunbathing for deities associated with the sun, cloudwatching for deities associated with the sky/weather, and starwatching for deities associated with the night/stars/planets; if the deity does not have a domain in one of these do whichever makes you happy
Cleaning: keeping your space and any altar/religious space you have clean and free of dust
Research: learning new things about your deity
Browsing Social Media: browsing a tag/account/etc. dedicated to your deity
Sharing: telling people about your deity
Learning Language: learning the language of your pantheon (i.e. greek for hellenism, italian for roman polytheism, etc.)
Conclusion
You do not need big, elaborate altars to worship. You do not need scheduled offerings, or even any offerings at all. You do not need to use tarot or runes to communicate with your deities. The only requirements for worshipping a deity is wanting to worship them and stating that you are worshipping them. To build from there, you begin building a relationship with them. Offerings and altars may help you do that, but they are not required. The Gods will understand if you do not have the space/time/materials/etc. to worship them how you would like or how others do. The Gods will understand if you do not want an elaborate practice. They will understand.

O' Bastet,

Lawd imma just try and rest tomorrow but I'd like to write a devotional poem to Bastet, mother of the household. Dua Bastet!
Dearest Bastet, She who is compassionate and kind. Help me recover and soothe my soul.
I wish to let go of what I cannot control. I wish to accept what is not mine to change.
It drains me but I know you will be there. You are always there to cradle me.
I sink into my bed and welcome a day of peace and relaxation. Thank you for your guidance.
Help me restore my wasted and spent energy. And assist me in finding calm respite.
Dua Bastet! I shall spend tomorrow being as lazy as my feline friend, being just as loving.

To Cry for the Moon (Moon Knight x Female Eternal!Reader)
Author's Note: I do not have dissociative identity disorder (DID) This is a fictional depiction of DID & characters are based on the Marvel/Disney's Moon Knight series. I own nothing. Title will be updated once I figure that out. This is my first attempt at Reader Insert. I've been thinking about branching into them for a while and I stumbled across this idea by @jupitersmoon167 (the original post I saw is here!) So the idea, some future dialog and honestly I've leaned so hard onto @jupitersmoon167 I'm putting the @ in here again.
Minors DNI
So as it goes, Y/N = your name, e/c = eye color. Y/N/N = Your Nickname. Reader pronouns She/Her. Story is 3rd person POV.
Tag Requests are Open just message me.
Primary Pairing: Steven Grant x Eternal!Reader, Marc Spector x Eternal!Reader, Khonshu x Ma'at!Reader (It'll make sense eventually)
Word Count: 800+
Part 1 of a new WIP Series.
Series Masterlist
Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10
Series may not be totally linear story telling (not this part but in the future), but time periods will be included when it comes up.
Critical Need to Know Information:
Reader is Ma'at (also spelled Maat), Ancient Egyptian Goddess of Truth, Justice, Balance, and Cosmic Order. As an Eternal!Reader has armor of rich earthy green tones with gold etching and accents. Golden energy wings form from the armor that gives the reader flight but, like with both Moon Knight & Scarlet Scarab allows her to protect others. Also creates feather-like projectiles that act more like knives than feathers. Reader is hired as a translator and tour guide at the British Museum and stays with Sersi and Sprite. Her coworkers joke about her likeness to the deity. A fact that Sprite finds absolutely hilarious.
Sprite gives reader a hard time because despite the short life span of domestic animals they usually kept either a cat: Egyptian Mau/Nile Valley Egyptian Cats/an Abyssian once in England and/or dog: Saluki/pharaoh hound/Thebes Land dog aka Baladi Street dog. Cat named Bas, after Bastet (Baast, Baset) the goddess. Dog named Noob, after Anubis because why not. Sprite would find it hilarious a bird goddess has a cat. LOL Like can you imagine Kingo or Sprite making a Bond/Dr. Evil villain reference and Reader just says they're jealous because they weren’t worshiped alongside such stunning/devoted animals. I use Bas the cat in this a bit so far. Just bear with me, it is a WIP. Now on to why you are really hear.
Part 1: The Meet Cute
Y/N always loves visiting the museum gift shop. She loves to see how commercially, and somewhat comedically, the designers of toys and trinkets depict her team and her fellow deities. She enjoys watching how Sprite's illustrious stories have become storybooks, animated tales, and all for purchase at the quaint gift shop. She is so engrossed in a new set of bookends when she accidentally bumps into Steven as he stocks the newest Ancient Egyptian-themed keychains on an endcap.
“I am so sorry,” Steven starts to apologize. “I should have-”
“Oh no, it’s my fault,” Y/N assures him and checks his nametag. “Forgive me, Steven. I…I get unusually single-minded when I hear there are new items.” She gently sets the eye of Horus keychain that he had dropped when she bumped into him on its designated hook alongside the matching ones.
Steven’s brows go up as he takes in her accent. “Forgive me if this is rude but your accent…”
Y/N chuckles. “You can take the girl from the Nile, but you can’t take the Nile out of the girl.” Steven took a better look at her e/c eyes and tanned face. His eyes follow to the gold chain and finds it leads to a golden feather that rests beside her collarbone.
He looks back to find her eyebrow raised. His face tinting red at being caught staring. “I like your necklace, is that-”
“The Feather of Truth,” she finish for him. Her fingers brushing the symbol.
“A fan of Ma’at,” he attempts to recover.
“Something like that,” she quietly laughs and smiles. Steven felt like he’d missed something, or that there was a joke he wasn’t in on.
“Check her arms,” Marc says from the reflection in one of the shiny keychains.
Steven gives a slight nod and briefly scans what he can see of her arms. Missing the momentary amused look at how he had to turn his head to try and see the arm nearest him and failed. He quickly comes up with an idea. He moves further down the aisle. She turns to follow his movements.
“So I’m sure you already have these,” Steven says as he holds up a magnet with a photo of the winged goddess on a temple wall in one hand and a more ornate golden one with the depiction of said goddess in the other.
“I have that one,” she nods, “but the gold one is new.” She spoke, reaching out for the shiny magnet, unknowingly giving him a better look at her arms. Y/N misses the way his shoulders relax and the minute shake of his head at his own reflection in a nearby display case as she takes in the details of the object in her hands. “You found my weakness.”
“Magnets?” Steven asks, earning a true laugh from her.
“Beautiful things,” she says with a wink.
Marc stifles a laugh from the reflection of the case. Before Steven can try and respond he is stopped by Donna shouting.
“Steven! Stop bothering the actual tour guides,” Donna scolds him. “Get back to work.” Making Steven flinch and Y/N frown.
“Sorry,” Steven starts again.
“No need to apologize,” the eternal grinned, smiling softly at the sweet man before her, and nodding towards the register.
“Yes, of course,” Steven nods.
“Oh, I assure you,” the former goddess states as she addresses Donna. “He was helping me find the newest trinket for my collection.” She lets just a bit of the authoritative look that she had spent centuries perfecting and using as she judged the hearts of humanity. Her gaze firm set on Donna as she spoke. “Or is that not part of his job?” Y/N tilts her head slightly and raises an eyebrow, a challenge. A move that would always earn an eye roll from her fellow Eternals.
“It is but-” Donna started.
“Well, then he did his job wonderfully,” Y/N says, turning her attention back to Steven who has just been watching the entire conversation unfold. She holds the magnet out for him and he seems to shake himself and ring it up. He thanks her as he accepts the cash she hands him. “Thank you, Steven, your assistance was greatly appreciated.” She says as he hands her the bagged item. “You’ll have to let me know when you get anything new in.” With one last smile at Steven, and a stern look at Donna as she passes her on the way out of the shop.
Donna huffs. “Flirt on your own time, now finish stocking.”
He nods as she disappears into the stock room. He can hear Marc laugh from the reflection of the glass top. “Oh don't you start,” Steven tells the reflected alter.
“A magnet, really?” Marc grins. “A bombshell that actually likes this crap, and you get her a magnet. And still made her buy it.”
“Donna was right there,” Steven says. “I cannot go giving out free items to just anyone.”
“Not anyone, a coworker that winked at you. Steven, she winked and laughed. And-”
“And I need to get back to work,” Steven mumbled as Donna walked back out.
