Anyways, again, the writing I'm looking for is "Yeah being a monster/knight/princess/Whatever™️ is tied to my marginalization and alienation but me being one is clever because it's not strictly about being the Other socially and more about my role as a marginalized person in relationships/social technologies that isn't overshadowed by or outright replaced by that theme and motif chosen."
Like. "Werewolf pack of various marginalizations works by day and meets in the forest to wolf out at night and can be themselves around one another" is good and based.
But "Werewolf pack made up of various marginalizations works by day, each has a circle of human friends and bigots both subtle and overt that they engage with day by day and each character takes their experiences differently and so it informs who wolfs out because they feel alienated and demonized by society and feel the most empowered as a monster, those who stay human and prefer to live a mostly human life because they don't, and those who are somewhere in between and as time goes on their relationships to each other changes because of this as well" is a much better angle than the former imo. Of course both can be written in a lame, corny way, but the latter is at least interesting to ponder on even if the execution is fumbled a little.

modern mizu hcs
solely based on my au and my concept of her !! I love my loser babygirl so much
Tumblr media
she's REALLY tall. like 6'1 or something. this is sorta canon but I just would like to reinforce it because she is 80% leg and I love her for it.
her love language would be acts of service but she is VERY big on physical touch, bby is touchstarved af
she's a bassist but she also enjoys singing. she doesn't do it often but boy is she good.
adding to the above I also think she does really good at roars eg that one part from blessed be by spiritbox
REALLY likes the snapcube sonic dubs and quotes them regularly
swordfather has many pictures of 12-16 year old mizu in her emo phase and shows them off to anyone who visits home
she really likes tea but absolutely hates coffee.
she absolutely despises buying from big chain companies because she hates the rich and privileged white men who control society
cooks really well but almost never eats
when she does eat, she EATS. she'll go hungry for three days and then eat an entire fridge worth of food in two hours
she has to take supplements for everything imaginable and whoever's cooking has to sneak them into her meal like dogs with pills in peanut butter
she hates dogs. I feel like the only dogs she'd like would be malamutes, huskies, or german shepherds cause girl me too
really loves fish though. she spends all her time at the closest aquarium and everybody there knows her by name
owns SO many button up shirts. yk those multicoloured ones yeah she wears those, hawaiian shirts too
collects vinyls and cassette tapes and owns a walkman
drives a 1979 baby blue impala given to her by swordfather for her 18th birthday
she did the paintjob herself and is very proud
goes on really elaborate rants about sonic lore
collects sonic merch but especially likes merch of shadow, rouge and blaze because they're her favourites
has eyebrow piercings on both brows and snake bites
to add to the above she takes great care with her eyebrows, she shapes them regularly
she does not, however, have any other routine to do with her appearance. she washes her face and calls it a day
when she was about 16 she watched princess mononoke for the first time and has been an AVID studio ghibli fan since
writes poetry every so often, especially when she has feelings for somebody. her poems either sound like fall out boy lyrics or something written by a philosopher (same thing icl)
smells like expensive cologne and smoke from working with vehicles and shit
curses like a sailor. not a minute goes by where she isn't effing and jeffing all over the place
doesn't smoke except when she's REALLY drunk
absolutely hates parties. taigen being a frat boy she gets dragged to tons, in which she drinks herself into a coma and wakes up on akemi's couch the next day surprisingly not hungover
despite being quiet af she has a reputation on campus for being absolutely amazing at arguing with people who've either pissed her off or heard her yelling at taigen (a common occurrence)
got excluded from high school for a week as a sophomore because she tripped taigen down the stairwell and it ended in 5 kids being hurt not including taigen

Here's a fun little Project Sekai fact! Almost all of your faves have appropriated other cultures as costumes and some have even done blackface. If you're supporting this game and refusing to make a meaningful statement about it beyond "b-b-but i said it was bad! 🥺", you are fucking racist.
You're either anti-racist, or you're a pro-seka blog. Choose one. You can't be both.
Basically everything is problematic and actually I have criticised the cultural appropriation and racism present in the game multiple times, at no point have I refused to acknowledge it (and you’re not the first person to send an anon in). You can play the game and be anti-racist actually it’s called being critical of the media you consume and having social awareness, we’ve been over this. Everything is problematic you probably like problematic media too.
Yeah the game did revival my dream and that was fucking racist, the costumes are stereotypical and they didn’t research into any specifc native culture they just wanted to make something that would get them money. it’s not princess mononoke put the trained costumes next to each other, the trained costumes are heavily stylised to look "pretty and fashionable" and forego accuracy. I’m aware of that, I’ve said this before multiple times but you wouldn’t know that because you just randomly came here to send me this message.
Then there's also the kamikou sports fes set. Luka's qipao is very obviously altered for the sake of fanservice which is just so wrong, do not sexualise other cultures for money. Rui's I think is meant to be some sort of military hanfu? But quite stylised, which again for someone outside the original culture to stylise a traditional outfit just is a no-go because you will probably get things wrong. Mizuki's outfit seems to be based on Qi-lolita and there's a whole thing surrounding that about whether you should wear it if you aren't chinese.
and then there's the island panic cards which are both orientalist. yes, not just the boys, the girls too. the outfits aren't based on any specific culture and just mishmash different swana and south asian cultures and stereotypes together to make something that looks "exotic".
If you notice a recurring thing is that all of these are in some way wxs related, and wonder why that is, it’s because they’re the theatre unit. They wear costumes, these are just cultures being appropriated as stage outfits, because the devs don’t care they just want a quick bit of money.
all of these are horribly common in idol games and gacha games, not just project sekai, and it's important to recognise the problems rather than just blindly consuming it. If it makes money, devs will continue to include ca, recognise that.
and yeah puchiseka episode 6 happened at no point have i ever denied that. it should have never happened but it did and at the very least the fandom was able to rally together and get sega to take it down. even after they did that sega and clpl should still be held accountable for even letting it be released. while they didn't make the episode, that was entirely handled by an external company (who should also be held accountable for their actions - we're never getting a second season for a reason), sega still released it knowing full well the contents. it wasn't ganguro like people said it was extremely clearly based on a very racist and crude interpretation of african tribes, and for part of a joke no less. It was disgusting. And it’s not ganguro like how people defend it; ganguro is part of the gyaru subculture and the outfits in that episode were not that. there is no defence for what happened. at the very least, it was impressive that the fandom called out the episode and actually got staff to listen and learn. that doesn't happen in other games, and we managed to do it again with rmd. the fanbase is calling the game out and actually educating staff. It’s just critical consumption - fans of the media were able to recognise that the episode was racist and correctly called out management with enough of a voice to make staff correct their mistakes. They apologised, it’s not my apology to accept, and I still hold them accountable for the fact it even happened.
This probably all makes me sound like a white saviour, and I don’t want to speak over the people affected by this, but that’s what you wanted, isn’t it? You probably have me blocked already and never followed me in the first place, but if you really wanted to call out racism, then maybe you should’ve sent this to blogs that do turn a blind eye to the flaws in this game, not one that calls them out. Why just me? Was it because of the username, because you’re not the first person to make that quip. I know you won’t see this anon, but a word of advice. Most media is problematic one way or another, you can enjoy something but still be aware of and acknowledge its problems. Project sekai is not made with the intent of encouraging or funding harmful behaviour, yet it still includes some harmful content. Call it out, educate staff and tell them not to do it again, they listened once they can do it again.

New TGMD doodles I made on Magma!
1 and 2 are based on my fantasy/steampunk story about adult Olivia who's looking for her mother. She met Ratigan. He's somekind of magical creature. All this concept is inspired by The Boy and the Heron trailer. I still havent't watched that movie, but yeah...it inspired me. Not only this, cuz other Ghibli movies too. Especially Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle.
I love these two characters so I wanted to make a story about them being besties xD ah...still working on Ratty's design.
On 3rd canvas you can see my TGMD OC. I called her Lilith. She's...my broken baby. She's one of the greatest inventors in Mousedom. And...she hates Basil and wants to k*ll him. It's a long story. She got that golden armor and golden claws. It's her weapon! She's got pet raven. Oh! There in one doodle of Lilith and Irene. Irene is @mintsuwu 's OC! ❤️ Also in other doodle Lilith is holding Ratigan's hand. This hand (full character tbh) was made by @wisen-widdyarts ❤️
4 and 5 are random TGMD doodles. There are sketches or Ratigan ofc, new human Ratigan sketches, some random doodles, first ever doodle of Fidget! Also doodles of Olivia, Basil, Dawson and Ballerina!!! Even my sona xD
Enjoy!!!

You're Beautiful
A/N: A small blurb featuring MK1 Medusa!Reader and Shang Tsung based on this from the Ghibli movie, Princess Mononoke. A movie I have never actually seen.
Tumblr media
You finally had him. After evading capture for FAR too long for your tastes, you finally had the Sorcerer, that SNAKE, Shang Tsung at your mercy.
"I'll cut your throat! That will silence you for good!"
You stood above him with one of your sickles pressed against Shang Tsung's throat just a hair's width shy of drawing blood; despite your mask hiding your expression, the fury you radiated is palpable. . Admittedly, what Shang Tsung learned on this strange island was almost enough to best you, but your former lover wasn't the only one who learned new magics.
The Sorcerer laid on his back, bloodied and bruise after a long drawn out battle between you two. He takes a breathe, the sickles edge no doubt leaving a thin line on his skin, before he spoke.
"You're beautiful..."
When you dig your sickle deeper into his skin, creating a thin line of blood, Shang Tsung winces before he elaborates while looking into your mask's eyeholes.
"You're still as beautiful as the day we met. No matter what form you take."
He seemingly says with honesty, insisting as always. For Shang Tsung, he was always drawn to your mind and soul or so he claims. Yet, you know better by now. You know better than to listen to any of his honied words laced with the sweetest sugars. You haven't forgotten how he made you think that he loved you, and took advantage of your love. You know from experience how that snake of a man would willingly blind you from the truth.
You gave your heart to this man, and in return, he broke and molded you into something more monstrous, unable to look anyone in the eye without the risk of turning them to stone.
Which is what your heart must be if you wish to be finally have peace.
"You can't slither out of this one, Sssshang Tsung."
Shang Tsung closes his eyes as he lets out a sigh before opening them again.
"I know. I am grateful that it's you who I'll die to."
You give him a hiss which is echoed by your head full of snakes, all poised to strike with their glistening fangs. Not caring for you threatening display, knowing he may die anyway, Shang Tsung speaks again.
"Because then I know, that I've never truly left your mind."
For once, you knew Shang Tsung's words are genuine. There's no twists, double meanings, half truths, or lies. You hate it. You hate that he's right. You let out a grunt as you remove your sickle's edge from Shang Tsung's throat, dropping it to your side to reach for your mask. No sooner did you place a hand on it, did you feel a burst of searing white-hot pain explode from your side.
"HISSSSS!!!"
You didn't have to look to know that Shang Tsung stabbed you in the side with his metal claws. You react by biting the Sorcerer in the neck with your fangs, just as he stabs you again on your other side. Just as he goes to strike again, your head full of snakes strike to bite every part of Shang Tsung's exposed flesh; causing his limbs falls limp to the ground with a thud. Shang Tsung could do nothing more than cough up blood as he feels branches, made from his blood, breach his flesh and start reaching for the starry sky. He looks at you one last time, eyes darting all around him, looking for a way to escape but finding none. Shang Tsung attempts to speak, but that only causes him to cough up more blood and waste what little breath he has left.
That's when you placed Shang Tsung's head on your lap, with your eyes closed almost serenely and not caring at all for the blood staining your pants. You brush a loose strand of hair from his sweaty and bloodied face before grabbing either side of Shang Tsung's face, claws digging into his cheeks, to force him to look into your reptilian eyes. The effect is instantaneous, as the Sorcerer's eyes widen before turning to stone, followed by the rest of his body, including the blood-made branches growing from his veins, in under a minute, where Shang Tsung once was laid a macabre statue.
You panted heavily as you held both your sides tightly to try and slow down your bleeding. You then cough up some blood, hypothesizing the strong possibility that Shang Tsung either punctured one of your lungs or poisoned you, maybe even both. Your eyes burn with tears as you move to shakily stand up, grunting as even that simple task took immense effort. You felt you may cry as you take a long look at the Sorcerer you once loved.
"It is an immense pity that we came to this,"
You cough before taking a deep breath. Yup, Shang Tsung definitely got you in the lungs.
"We may have loved each other in another time, by the Elder Gods; I probably would have loved you in this one too."
You then narrow your eyes as you glare at what remains of Shang Tsung.
"But I know better now. You were foolish to feed me your poisoned promises and think I would never grow wise. You are a fool for hurting those that love me and claim that's love."
You pause to take another breath as you walk away from the cliff, dragging one foot in front of the other.
"You wanted to find ways to cheat death, not caring who got in your way. So now you shall live, and live, and live. Live to be old as a mountain. Even if you somehow manage to escape, Death shall be the first to greet you."
You then finally leave Shang Tsung in the distance, leaving a trail of your blood behind and not caring to take a glance back.

WIPS || More Zutara FA
(As promised. Based on 2 of the zutara month prompts)
I wanted to get the rough sketches in first. Probably did make things a bit too difficult for myself with the angles and the wolf (istg animals are so hard to draw) but I'm also excited to see how this will look once it's rendered. Just need to trudge through the lineart phase next.
I was excited to draw the princess mononoke au one but ngl, working on the second wip was a more enjoyable experience since the only concept I wanted was something simple and cute. The pose is a menace because of the foreshortening but manageable. It probably helps that I was in a better headspace when I started working on it. The day prior to that, I was going through one of my bad, more temperamental days where I just felt off and couldn't draw a single line without giving it up bc it looked "ugly". Made it through the sketch for the princess mononoke au but couldn't last for the lineart.
On the other hand, the second wip was mostly seamless. Had to keep redrawing Zuko and Katara's legs but it was still a relaxing session overall.
Here's me hoping that I'll be in a good headspace tomorrow so I can work for a longer time while uninterrupted. Well, as uninterrupted as my mild adhd coded brain can allow 🤞.

i'm surprised you do not like ghibli, why is that , if you dont mind saying?
shouldn:t be surprising at all, people liking different things is about as normal as anything; for me, they are: boring well-animated spectacles; only ghibli movie i like is princess mononoke
Tumblr media
edited this because i liked the color combination in the post + picture, & a bit of a cookie i baked in the background based off someone else mistakenly using pancake mix instead of flour in their recipe, and i wanted to try making that mistake, too

Imagining Egypt - Sekhmet, Details & Explanations
Once Sekhmet served Ra, her father, faithfully. She would deal out brutal punishments or miraculous healing based on her own code of judgment. Ra trusted that judgment, and for lifetimes she was left to carry out her duty under her father's approval but of her own accord.
But as the eons passed and her father grew "old" even to gods, he began to act on paranoia and impulse and started to question her judgment. Ordering her to go against her own code she'd followed unbroken since the beginning, and when faced with the choice between her father and her duty, she chose her duty.
Ra knew his daughter's strength and would not have her as an enemy, nor lose her as a weapon. And so he tore out her right eye and replaced it with one of his own, binding her to his will and his will alone.
Now, Sekhmet acts not as a goddess but as Ra's brute. Before, when she killed it was a sacred thing. Death is viewed differently in these lands, truly a new beginning. Sekhmet saw it as freeing a corrupted soul to a new land, where it may be repaired and reborn as something better. A form of healing in and of itself. Now it is carried out only to rid the world of those who defy her father, and death is suddenly a thing to be feared.
She has not healed a single soul since Ra corrupted her, she has only brought thoughtless death. For her, the abomination was not that she killed, but that she was denied her duty in the act.
The Eye of Ra
She has her father's eye in her skull. Through it, her father is able to control her actions and thoughts to conform to his own needs. It is unknown how much, if any, of Sekhmet can still see through the curse, but some say they see white-hot tears drip from the eye whenever she kills in his name.
Isis believes that Sekhmet can be saved, and if they remove the Eye from her the true Sekhmet will return.
Ra's Adornments
Sekhmet was never one for jewels before, however now, she is always seen wearing glittering, royal gold and jewels all over her body. "Gifts" from her father. The sun-disk circlet and falcon usekh collar display her alignment to him.
Belt of Hair
The rope-like belt around Sekhmet's waist was crafted by Sekhmet herself, made of dyed and woven human hair. The purpose of such a unique ornament is unknown. Some view the belt as a horrifying reminder, trophies of the defiers she's slayed. Others view the belt as a sign of her devotion, memories of her people always kept with her. Perhaps there is truth in both.
Sekhmet's Blade
Known as the Horn of Mnevis or simply Mnevis, the story goes that Sekhmet forged the sword herself in the fires of the sun. True or not before Ra's corruption the blade was always in her hand or at her hip, and she viewed it as more of a companion than a simple tool.
After her freedom from Ra she declared Mnevis cursed, forsaking it, and so the foreign god Loki took the blade as his own...
Bonus stuff:
Atreus and Angrboda are the ones that free her. They try to use a tactic of weakening her by getting her to drink a blood and beer concoction making her easier to fight. It half-works, but towards the end Sekhmet badly wounds Angrboda and Atreus goes on a Spartan-Rage frenzy. He turns into a lion and rips out the eye with his teeth :)
She nearly kills Atreus too but since he does succeed in getting the eye out she is able to access her healing again and saves both him and Angrboda.
She and Isis are besties
I imagine her sounding like Gillian Anderson as Moro in Princess Mononoke
She and Atreus do NOT get along. Nothing to do with the sword and everything to do with her immutable moral code and belief that people cannot change in life
She goes through a crisis of faith in a way as by her own code SHE now deserves death, but she knows she is needed to take down Ra, but she also believes herself unworthy of fighting at all after all she's done. I'm thinking she may have a "sickness" akin to Atreus' in the 2018 God of War and Atreus will try and find a way to make a similar "cure" for her that his father made for him.
(Basically Atreus saves her life twice even though they Cannot Fucking Stand Each Other)
She actually has two forms, this is the "War" form rather than the healing form. I might draw the healing form later, but it's basically just a regular woman. It is worth mentioning that in the war form, she is really big

Writeblr (Re)Introduction
Hello! After some time of being inactive, here's a small reintroduction from me:) And I also guess that this is the exact aesthetic I aimed for. Finally!
Tumblr media
General info:
(Nick)Name: Axl-ul, but you can address me as Axl^^
Likes: Writing, reading, drawing, crochet, mythologies and folk stories, tea, doggos, cattos, battos (majority of animals that are fluffy)
Stuff I like to listen to: an ENORMOUS range that goes from og dubstep to chillstep to metal to edgy yeehaw dark country (among my fave artists are Bonobo, Nujabes, Burial, Hugo Kant, Sigmun)
Favourite movie: Noroi, The Vanished Empire
Favourite show: Mononoke (2009) it's actually an anime and yes I do consider it a show, Red Dwarf
Favourite book(s): The Witcher saga (Season of Storms was a little bit mid in comparison to the rest, still enjoyed it though), Solomon Kane, The Hobbit, Whiskey, Blood and Silver, The Warlock, Journey to the West (still reading it)
Favourite manga: anything by Junji Ito, Berserk
Favourite games: The Witcher trilogy, DreadOut, Condemned: Criminal Origin, TES V: Skyrim (also slowly getting into Oblivion), Sleeping Dogs, Darkwood, anything made by Fromsoftware (a fanboy)
Favourite genres: horror, mystery, (dark) fantasy, comedy
Favourite tropes: animal companion, found family, rivals to best friends
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Writer info:
Genres I write in: horror, mystery, dark fantasy inspired by world mythologies, dark comedy, my wips might have a touch of detective stories to them, too^^
Tropes I use(d): found family, animal companion, rivals to best friends, rivals to friends to lovers (used only once as I don't like romance that much, why it appears in my wips is a looong story), orphaned MC
POV: 3rd person, multiple POVs with main focus on 1 to 3 characters max
I tend to write in quite a flowery language and in poetic prose, but since English isn't my first language it can come across slightly awkward (TL; DR I do plenty of updates and edits to my posted stuff)
My wips are inspired and sometimes directly refer to a certain mythology, such as Slavic (this one is also most widely used as I like to read local legends of Serbia, Russia, the Czech and Slovak Republic, Ukraine, Poland and so on), Chinese, Nordic, Japanese and Indonesian. HOWEVER I love to create my own mythos and so the world is a blend of characters directly based of a mythological figure exploring environement both familiar and completely new to them. (I've always been intruiged by a question what would happen if world mythologies bumped into each other and what would be the consequences of it.)
My own mythos are pretty much eldritch-like oriented with a significant touch of folk horror. I'm not going to lie, I'm a FromSoftware fanboi, I see Bloodborn or Kuon, I'm going feral and so is my inspiration.
There are many occuring themes about substance abuse, addiction, health issues, gore, extreme violence, sexual assault/rape and other strongly 18+ stuff, so I'd appreciate if only 20+ y.o. people (or be at least 18, really) follow this account. In other words - PLENTY OF NSFW THAT'S NOT DIRECTED AND INTENDED FOR MINORS.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WIPs
Not all from my wips have a proper introduction (a.k.a. there's no link for their Tumblr WIP intro). BUT I do plan on doing them, so expect the links to be updated. These are just quick summaries of them.
The Flight of the Western Crane - A dark retelling of Journey to the West where Sun Wukong tries to protect the young Buddhist monk Tang Sanzang while meeting a duo of a stranded Princess of the Great Tiger Kingdom and her foreign advisor Lady Wolf Witch. Their common journey starts out as an innocent one. However, it soon evolves into a dangerous chase where the Monkey King must face the worst of his opponents.
City of False Gods - Hybrid of wuxia, mystery and film noir genres set on a fabricated island near Hong Kong. The fiction evolves around the Monkey King who's, after his yet another imprisonment, woken up to a strange world of 1920s where his powers are under a radar by the local supernatural cop unit and is forced to live among the poorest while trying to solve strange happenings in the city. City of False Gods also serves as a sequel to The Flight of the Western Crane.
Empire of Dust - Historical dark fantasy with horror elements set in 330 Constantinople. The story follows two little sisters one of whom is considered neither dead nor alive. One day, Ulfrika sets out for a strange task in order to provide for her dear little sister. Her pure-hearted intention, though, may lead her down the rabbit hole which may devour her sanity.
Ratpeople - An outline idea for a standalone story involving Ulfrika and her time in the Wild West, where the soulless hybrid discovers an eerie town in the desert while chasing after a man who stole one of her horses. The story is related to weird western (mostly its horror and fantasy elements and no sci-fi stuff) and mystery genres and also mythology related things.
Boy Who Chased a Dragon - Another outline story outside the universe of The Legends of No-man's Land. The story takes place on an island of eternal summer and flower bloom, where mythical creatures live peacefully. One day, Dado* loses his pet dragon, a creature his sister gave him for his 8th birthday, in a harsh storm. Now, he sets out for a long journey to retrieve his best friend from the claws of the cruel Ember King.
*because this is still in a process of an outline/1st draft, I'm still not sure about the name, it's only a working name for the protagonist

I’ve played swarmkeeper feywanderer horizon walker drakewarden and gloomstalker, I’m drawn towards the class in part because I’m a Ranger irl it’s my day job, but I also love the jack of all trades support vibe of the class it doesn’t excel anywhere but can help every class with a little bit of something and I view the classes identity as the professional adventurer someone who spends their life balancing the threats of the world whether that be the threats of the wild the monsters who inhabit it or the people who cross it, balancing their needs, kinda like Geralt of rivia balancing the needs of “monsters” and people, they work to make the world a safer better place picking up whatever skills and magic help them survive, I also note that every dnd class is either some form of Hunter or Tamer, the gloomstalker, horizon walker ,hunter and monster slayer, hunt the creatures of the wild, while the drakewarden, the swarmkeeper, the beast master and the fey wanderer spend their time befriending and taming the monsters of the wild. I don’t mean to answer my own question but I’m interested as someone who’s played the ranger just as much as me how your opinions may differ (I also especially love your borrower style ranger the little fellow is so cute and very well drawn)
Thanks for listening to my rambling and questions you can ignore this if it’s too much for whatever vibe you’re feeling rn have a lovely day !
hi!! Fun fact, i actually havent played any rangers 🥴 I'm the kinda dnd player who plays in like 2-3 campaigns but makes like 50 ocs. ASDFJKSDJF (I've only played a cleric and a barbarian in campaigns, but for oneshots I've tried every race) Id love to play one, but its kinda hard to do that for a oneshot since so much of the ranger class is dependent on favoured terrain/knowing your surroundings and levelling.
This is SUCH a fun ask because I LOVE the ranger class for its very niche yet versatile character archetype. I think if there's one type of word I could use to describe a ranger is a survivalist — the rangers that I do have, a handful of them are fashioned after Scouts/parkrangers (because....I was one.) or famous character types that do a lot of adventuring like cowboys, pirates, explorers etc. — if I'm being honest, ranger is the most 'adventurer' type there is!
(as a note here, i know pointy hat has mentioned a ranger's big thing was an animal companion -- i think?? IDR -- which is like a fun take. I really like his stuff, but i feel like a class shouldn't be bound to smth like a pet. any class can have pets!)
To use my own as an example, I have a bounty hunter devil cowboy (monster slayer), a princess-mononoke-ish Artemis huntress (hunter), a HouYi type ancient hero with 3-legged crows (swarmkeeper), an Indiana jones style explorerer (horizon walker) and a borrower (beast master). I really love the idea of all of them being really different but all being excellent survivalists and navigators!
Im a big fan of rangers that have fighting styles other than archery too. I think archery is awesome for the fighting style, but having duelist (like the borrower) or dueling (monster hunter) gives it an extra bit of flavour to just "class that wields a bow". it also sets them apart from a fighter bc in my head a fighter is more military while a ranger is more solitary. It establishes them as a martial class for sure, but its so versatile and has that edge that comes with dex-based instead of str-based.
I particularly like monster slayer bc to me that was very like...witcher-y. The cowboy is a monster slayer with favoured foes as humanoids bc he only tracks humanoids (bounties), which is some fun flavouring. There's a lot of customization! To clarify, there's a lot of room for flavour, but not as much choice for character builds (like, mechanically, at least compared to stuff like warlocks.)
The addition of magic also helps give it some class distinction :0
TLDR: mixes the best aspects of rogues and fighters with LOTS of room for flavour text.

Your Opinion on Ghibli movies.
🔥 🔥 🔥
cracks knuckles
Okay. So I will put the caveat that I stopped watching Ghibli movies after I was sorely disappointed with the Ghibli take on “Tales of Earthsea”, so any of my opinions are gonna be applied to only the ones I’ve actually seen.
Nausicaä and the Valley of the Wind: amazing. Soft apocalypse with massive bugs and a spooky jungle. Great environmental message. I would love a pet fox squirrel. Nausicaä is awesome and I want her wind glider. The ending never fails to make me cry. You see the origins of the “girl with strong connection to nature with a guy who loves and supports her” theme.
Castle in the Sky: this one’s one of my favorites. Giant super weapon and soft apocalypse vibes. The protagonists are ride or die. And “girl with strong connection to nature with a guy who loves and supports her”. The sky pirates are wonderful and the villain is so much fun (he’s a complete asshole).
Grave of the Fireflies: watched it once. I’m good.
My Neighbor Totoro: this is the second movie I ever watched. I love Totoro. And the Catbus. In fact I think we should invest in Catbus as a means of public transportation.
Kiki’s Delivery Service: this movie hits different when your an adult. Kiki’s journey and the burn out she eventually gets like. Definitely a comfort movie, but Kiki’s journey resonates with me. Oh and I want to live in that cabin in the woods with all the crows.
Porco Rosso: I too, would rather be a pig than a fascist.
Whisper of the Heart: this one’s just sweet. Like. It’s so cute and wholesome.
Princess Mononoke: look. Look. This movie changed me as a person. I saw this as a kid and boom..that was it. San lives with wolves and lives in the forest. Ashitaka is awesome and badass and rides a deer. Also like. The themes of this movie. It’s got the strong environmental message about the importance of living in community with nature, but there’s a lot of shades of grey. You see all sides of the story and it’s fantastic. I could talk about this movie for hours. And it has that classic “girl with strong connection to nature with a guy who loves and supports her”. Ashitaka and San are looking out for each other and it’s great.
Spirited Away: another excellent one. I think this one has my favorite soundtrack. And Chihiro’s journey to find herself and save Haku. I don’t have much else to say on this one. Go watch it it’s great.
The Cat Returns: it’s got walking cats. What more could you want.
Howls Moving Castle: I have to view this one as a separate entity from the book it’s (supposedly) based on. I enjoy this one as its own thing; the Howls Moving Castle book is like…so good. One of my favs. Anyways. Movie Howl - the feathery hug between Howl and Sophie low key rewired my brain chemistry.
Overall I just love these movies. The art is incredible and remains a huge inspiration to me, and you can see how much love gets put into those nature scenes. I could stare at then endlessly. And I love how Hiyao Miyazaki shows love in his movies, where like. The two protagonists help each other grow and make it a goal to live for each other. They accept each other where they are and are ride or die for each other. I just. That shit gets to me. Love it.
Thanks for the ask (and letting me ramble)🦎

The Boy and the Heron/ How Do You Live? is the kind of movie that feels more like a great children's book than a movie, although it is more intuitive and dreamlike and less solidly plotted than good children's books tend to be. But the emotional tenor feels book-like.
(Tangent: Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro don't, in my opinion. They feel like movies on an emotional level too, just miraculously good. Princess Mononoke has the feel of a great graphic novel. When Marnie Was There, which is based on a children's book, is another one that feels book-like emotionally.)
It reminded me once more that Le Guin has influenced Miyazaki a lot. But the books it made me think of the most was Susan Cooper's "Seaward", a fairly overlooked tale of a heroic journey with a boy and a girl in a pastoral landscape absolutely rife with symbolism. As I remember it, it felt more tightly plotted than The Boy and The Heron/ How Do You Live?, but I also got the sense Cooper dug deep into her own imaginarium for that story.

[ facts about june ]
Tumblr media
[ abilities and skills ]
[ songwriting ]
her songwriting talent went relatively unknown for a long time. she’s written poetry here and there for most of her life but has kept it to herself as she didn’t really think of it as anything special. it was just her way of working through her emotions.
changbin was the first person she went to when she wanted to make her own song and he was ecstatic. he could not stop gushing over her lyrics and is her number one hype man every time.
[ acting ]
has been acting ever since she was little and she used to dream of being on broadway someday.
always tries to come up with a ‘character’ for each comeback/song to embody. some of her most distinctive ones fans have even given names to.
june has mentioned before she would love to be in a show or drama someday but she also doesn’t know how that would work because stray kids schedule is so busy and “stray kids and stay will always come first”
(fans are still waiting for her acting debut)
[ singing ]
june has musical theatre singing training. aka she can belt like nobody’s business.
stay often joke saying she doesn’t even need a mic because she can be heard without it. and they’re correct.
[ instruments ]
june is most known for being able to play the trumpet, guitar, and piano.
but she constantly is learning a new instrument. most recently the drums, clarinet, and has also said she wants to work on playing the bass
[ interests and hobbies ]
[ musical theater ]
the most notable productions she has been in were “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” (she played Lucy), “Annie” (she was in the ensemble but has a number of notable solos), and “The Addams Family” (she played Wednesday, obviously).
June has said she’s always dreamed of being in “Les Mis,” her dream role is Eponine.
Her all time favorite musical is “Hadestown” and Eva Noblezada is her role model.
[ anime ]
it is impossible to not watch anime in this household. the first anime she ever watched was my hero (someone please help her get better taste) but is now watching chainsaw man with the boys and loves it. talks often about how she wants to dress up as power or makima for halloween some year.
han and june always watch studio ghibli together. han’s favorite is “howl’s moving castle” while june’s favorite is “princess mononoke”.
[ misc ]
[ famous moments ]
a fancam went viral during their back door era where she was goofing around with the members and all smiley and interacting with fans and then it cuts to the performance where she was in character, her smile and stage presence a complete 180 from before.
after rumors started up (again) of lip syncing, in a performance june moved her mic away and stopped singing for a moment before her killer part of the song where she sang even higher than she usually does, still without using her mic. the entire hall heard her easily without the mic
[ her titles ]
“Kingdom’s Princess” from when they were on Kingdom: Legendary War. all of the boy groups were doting on her, especially BTOB. And of course she was part of the vocal mayfly unit and killed it. During the sports day she was given a little plastic tiara that she wore for the whole day, making ‘decrees’ with her royal status (ordered for Changbin to be thrown in the dungeons at one point)
“Real Visual” was given this name for how incredible her bare face is. Most lives and vlogs she does are without make-up and she always gets complimented for how good her skin looks.
[ what she’s known for ]
many people assume that based on her appearance and how polite she is that she’s a very quiet and shy person, but oh boy these first impressions are deceiving. people are always surprised by how loud she can be and hyper, bouncing off the walls. and when she sings too. many expect her to have a soft voice so then when she’s belting like her life depends on it they are blown away.
seen as one of (if not the) best 4th gen performers and for her insane stage presence. known to wreck many people’s biases once they see stray kids perform in person.

I just found out about book nooks because of you and I am fascinated. If you dont mind, can you share tips for beginners? Also, are you using wood? Thats amazing! How do you cut and paint the wood? Thank you!!!
happy to share! I've been making miniature art for years but just recently got into book nooks. so far, I've used kits you can get on Amazon as the base with my own additions & modifications. the great part about these kits is that everything is included (except any custom additions you want to make, obviously). if I ever get my 3D printer set up (& learn how to use it 🙃), I'll try making my own from scratch.
both kits use 100% pre-printed wood (i.e. no painting required) that's partially laser-cut ahead of time. you have to carefully remove the parts from the boards, do some sanding, a lot of assembly and basic wiring for the lights (also included). I'm pretty much always watching a show when I'm working on them, so the process is super meditative/therapeutic, even for my ADHD-riddled brain.
this is the kit I'm using for the KinnPorsche alley book nook (with a lot of modifications):

I scored a bunch of awesome miniatures at a specialty shop while I was traveling in December- a guitar for Kim, a yellow bottle for the bar, a tiny cage, a hedgehog, koi fish- but I'm bummed because they turned out to be too big scale wise (they still fit; they just look a little ridiculous).
Tumblr media
look at that tiny lil guitar! how could I say no?
I spent way too much on them, though, so everyone better pretend they look perfect when I post the final product, capiche? great.
I used two kits for the Princess Mononoke book nook:

I had to use tweezers to assemble the Spirit of the Forest because, I mean- *waves*. I plan on filling in the seam in the river, painting it & adding water gel for realism.
if you have other questions or just want to geek out over minis, come yell at me!
