And also the tragedy of Bucky and Steve never getting to see their family again, who have to live with the knowledge that they're still alive while Winifred or George or Becca aren't, whose last memory of them is a painful goodbye and broken promises...

Not to mention how Sarah Rogers never was more than a footnote in Captain America's story, when she probably worked so hard just to keep Steve alive and happy, who is only remembered by two (broken, lonely, sad) people, who never got to see the good her son would do...

Don’t mind me, just feel like sharing the Barnes family that lives in my head

James “Bucky” Buchanan Barnes: The oldest sibling, hella protective of his siblings (only they are allowed to make each other miserable, anyone else will suffer). Huge nerd, loves sci-fi, good at most of telle things that he tries, he loves his family more than anything, it’s that simple

Steve(n) Grant Rogers: is one of the Barnes as far as anyone is concerned, most people actually believe that because of how much time he spends with them and how close he is with all of them. He and Bucky are the closest and know each other by heart, but he’s also really good friends with the girls and sometimes jokingly calls Winnie and George “Ma”, “mother”, “pa” and “father” usually when he’s being a kiss ass to piss of the siblings. Honestly he pretty much lives at their house at this point. He’s a Barnes sibling, not up for debate for any of them.

Mary-Anne “Annie” Charity (Sheldon-)Barnes: She’s aboit a year younger than Steve and two and a half years younger than Bucky, but honestly, she’s probably the most mature out of the bunch. She’s the mom of the friend group (yes the siblings are also pretty much a friend group, they love each other. Unrealistic from my experience but leave me alone) and she’s also the most helpful around the household. She’s the only Blonde in the biological Barnes family, which often helps Steve to blend in with them. She and Steve are besties, she had a huge crush on him when they were kids but got over it eventually, she likes to joke that Steve is her favorite brother when she’s messing with Bucky. She’s usually the one reasoning and lecturing the others but often ends up being the one to cover for them when the others are doing something stupid. Bucky used to call her “MAC” because of her initials to piss her off, and got her to tear up on her wedding day when he called her “MACS”. She got married to William Sheldon as soon as she was old enough to get married and had a son called Charles (everyone called him Charlie), Steve was his godfather.

Rebecca “Becca” Marjorie (Proctor-)Barnes: she’s three and a half years younger than Bucky and is the sibling that annoys him the most. Bucky and Becca are always finding ways to mess with each other and make the other miserable (figuratively speaking, they would never try to actually hurt each other). Annie is usually the one to split them up when they’re arguing. She looks a lot like Bucky and has a ton in common with him, and they both hate it and use it to annoy the heck out of each other. Later on she gets engaged to Arthur Proctor who asked for George, Bucky and Steve’s blessing to marry her. They got married after the war. She became an activist for civil rights and peace after the war. She and her husband Arthur died in a car crash in 1960. They were the Winter Soldier’s first mission.

Elizabeth “Lizzie” Madeline Barnes: depending on my mood, she’s between 16 and 10 years younger than Bucky. Either way, she’s the baby of the family. She’s the sweetest kid alive, and looks a lot like her siblings. She was one of the many people who believed that Steve was a Barnes, and broke down crying when she accidentally discovered the truth at the age of ten, running to Steve and begging him not to leave her even though he never had any intentions to do so. She’s a very smart kid who hangs on her older siblings’ every word. She trusts them never to lie to her, even when the truth is ugly, they do their best to explain things to her in a way she can understand (and not get traumatized by in the case of the war).

George Barnes: is their father, he lost his middle and ring finger of his right hand during the Great War, and the idea of war terrifies him though the first years of Bucky’s life were hard on him, he usually managed to ground himself with the presence of his children. His family is Jewish, and his uncle Randolph is a total dickhead that is not allowed near his children ever since that one time.

Winnifred “Winnie” Barnes: she’s the mother, she and George love Steve like one of their own, she’s an amazing cook and loves when Steve and Sarah stay over for meals, she’s very generous and especially during the depression when everyone was in need, she never hesitated to give up things to others who needed it more. She’s catholic like Steve and Sarah and raised her kids to know her religion, though they picked more up from their father

Sarah Rogers: is Steve’s mom, she doesn’t get to spend as much time with the children due to her need to work for a living, she loves how close Steve got to that amazing family and is always reassured that he has someone behind his back when he does something stupid and has another family to rely on when she’s at work. She and Winnie pretty much share custody of the kids, they love seeing her whenever she has the time

Bucky Barnes: Some Headcanon pt1

Ladies and gents, today's Headcanon is: JEWISH BUCKY BARNES

It's a Headcanon I've come across a few months ago. Now I want to display my own version of the Headcanon. Let's start with their names. I have to thank Wikipedia on this because I'm not Jewish nor Romanian.

James Buchanan Barnes is his English name. His Romanian is Iakob Barna. He doesn't have a middle name, because while it is common to have one in Romania, it isn't mandatory. I think his parents thought it would be easier this way. But some moron convinced them he had to have one to be "americanized correctly". So they asked for a good American name and he gaves them his, Buchanan that's why his name is Buchanan. I also think their surname was misunderstood from Barna to Barnes. His name mean "supplanter" for James and "home" for Buchanan.

Since I also believe them to be Jewish, I think his name would be Yaakov ben Yaniv ben Solome. I don't know how realistic that is, because I gave him both a form of his dad's name and of his mom's name. But in Germany there were traces of Jewish families with matronyms, names derived from the mother's given name, found. So I gave him both.

I think his dad's English name would be George David Barnes. His Romanian name would be Gheorghe David Barna. And his Hebrew name would be Yaniv ben Yosef. George doesn't in Hebrew but the name Yaniv has a similar meaning, so I thinks it's fitting. His name's meaning is "farmer, earth worker" for George and "he will flourish and produce" for Yaniv. David means "beloved"

Winnifred Salome Barnes would have it relatively easy to arrive in America. Because I headcanon as having a German Yiddish background and as being stubborn (kinda Euphemia Potter style yk?). Her Romanian name would literally be Winnifred Barna (born Dalca). But her Hebrew name would be Salome bat Jonah bat Rivkah. I think her mother would be the one of German background and would have been the one that named her Winnifred, a German name. But her father, an orthodox Jew, would want her to also have a more Hebrew name. Winnifred means "the Peacebringer", Salome is the female name of "Salomon", which comes from the Hebrew word "shalom", meaning "peace". I also Headcanon that the administration of Ellis Island told her to take a middle name and she choose to take her Hebrew name. Like I said, power bitch.

It is also known that Bucky in the MCU has 3 sisters. I think the eldest of his sisters, but still younger than him, was named Esther Hannah Barnes. Esther is a common Jewish name, but I also think they would have called her Essie, like they called him Bucky. I think the Romanian form of her name would simply be Anna Barna. But the Hebrew form would be Esther bat Yaniv bat Salome. Esther means "star" and Hannah means "grace". I also think Essie was the one tho give Bucky his nickname.

The second daughter would be Rachel Amalia Barnes. The Romanian variation was Rahela Amalia Barna and Jewish form Rashka bat Yaniv bat Salome. Rachel is also a common Hebrew name. It means "ewe" and Amalia means "work".

The youngest is Rebecca Susan Barnes. In Romanian her name is Rebeca Suzana Barna and in Hebrew Rifkah bat Yaniv bat Salome. I think her father would have often called her Shoshanna, the Hebrew form of Susan, and shortened Shoshie. I think she was her father favourite. Her name means "to tie, bind" for Rebecca and "lily" for Susan.

So, that'll be all. A bit much I think, but there is even more in my head, sooo yeah, it'll be longer...

I have this headcanon that Steve is actually really good with hair. Because of his Ma getting sick he would french braid her hair up and out of her face so it would stay cleaner longer and she didn't have to worry about it matting from constantly being in bed. Steve in his childhood would brush his Ma's hair and help her with it to help her feel a little better after coming home exhausted from constant working.

Steve learned to cut his own hair so he wouldn't have to worry about going to the barber shop and paying a days worth of pay on a damn trim. This extended to cutting Bucky's hair when he moved in, and braiding Buckys sisters hair when they asked because Steve was better at it from so much practice.

Maybe he even surprises Nat one day, offering to braid her hair for her and her letting him, watching him get through it in under 15 minutes. She didn't expect it from him and when he explains where he learned, she can't help but indulge hime every once in a while. Even if she could do it herself, it was always nice to see that shy smile on Steve

This later becomes something Steve does to Bucky every once in a while when he visits him in Wakanda. Bucky loves feeling Steves hands in his hair and loves seeing that concentrated, but relaxed look on his face.

It reminds him of those old days in Brooklyn, when Steve one by one plopped all the Barnes sisters down in front of him on the couch and did their hair. Armed with a tiny comb and determination. Reminds him of watching Steve sit his Ma up and gently card a comb through her hair when she was too far in to be able to get out of bed.

Just, Steve having this skill that noone really expected. I think it's cute.

It's so insane because every time I watch CATWS I'm like... Steve Rogers would literally prefer to die at Bucky's hands than go on living without him. Steve would rather die than admit that he really truly lost Bucky. He wants to look into Bucky's eyes as Bucky kills him because at the very least, it's Bucky. I feel like sitcoms from the Golden Age (2000s and early 2010s) would often make too much fun of autistic people. Even the sitcoms that are my favourites, such as Brooklyn Nine Nine and Modern Family are quite harsh (don't get me wrong, they're still some of the greatest ones) and would only have main characters with traits of ADHD (such as Luke and Phil from Modern Family and Jake from B99), which is great, but never autistic ones. Characters with autistic traits would often get made fun for their traits.

What I think Community did waaaay better than any of them is that they have a canonically autistic main character and his autistic traits are embraced. Literally no one makes fun of Abed (the autistic character) except for that 1 time Jeff says he has "Asperger's" as an insult. Other than that none of the main characters ridicule Abed for his autism and treat him with respect and as a regular human being.

What I also like is that they're not acting like Abed hasn't struggled at all. They don't act like autistic people never suffer. Abed still has been bullied. Some people still call him weird and so on. However Abed has found his people. He has his found family that love him and I think it's pretty big and amazing that a show made in 2009 went this far.

Other than that Community also has a character with ADHD traits (Troy, maybe someone else too) and has PLENTY of LGBT+ content. I would definitely recommend it.

My favorite (and least favorite) thought is the idea that the first thing that the Avengers notice new about Steve when he finally, finally gets Bucky back is that they can sneak up on him.

With a building full of superheroes with various levels of stealth training and differing tolerances for practical jokes, it happens pretty regularly that accidentally or purposefully, someone gets snuck up on. Everyone else hears a gasp or shriek, swearing, then laughter or apologies, and they know exactly what happened.

Before, though, Steve wouldn't flinch. He might blink a few times, but really, he never seems surprised. No matter how out of the blue the scare is. It's like he expects it. They start joking about Cap's spidey sense or super-steel nerves.

But... now, sneak up on him, and he'll JUMP.

No one says it out loud, but when Natasha accidentally gets Steve good enough during a "family dinner" with her silent footsteps and sudden presence over his shoulder that he drops his plate (with food on it, goddamnit), they all share a look. Mostly, it's fucking funny, such a huge, muscle-bound guy shrieking and jumping a few inches into the air, but... throughout the dinner, then later into the following days when Thor is able to do it, too, raising his voice suddenly booming from behind Steve when he was supposed to be off-world, announcing himself, it dawns on them that it isn't so funny.

It's almost like before, Steve was constantly in fight or flight mode. Always aware and checking his surroundings, hackles raised, as if he never left active combat. Everything was an active threat.

But, now, with Bucky back... Steve eases off. Those hackles go down. And he jumps! He ruins a wall once, throwing a kettle bell in the gym through it when his grip strength loosens mid-jump. It should be funny, it still is, sometimes, scaring mighty Captain America... but it's mostly not. It's not because they can't believe that he was never relaxed and not on edge before. Without Bucky. But Bucky here and Steve's home, too, now. Bucky is home.

Dp x dc idea… more of a mini fic 108

Dani is melting in front of Danny’s eyes and Danny is panicking. He reveals that he and Dani are halfas. Begging his parents to help stabilize Dani. That he couldn’t watch her melt away. his parents don’t take it well. Chasing him out of the lab.

He barley got Dani and him out with minimum injuries.

Danny had no access to proper supplies, and risks going to vlad.

Offering to be the perfect son if he saves Dani. Making him promise she would be safe and stable. Telling him all that happened. That his mom wouldn’t accept him, she didn’t even accept Danny.

He has a bad feeling when vlad eye flash red and he agrees.

After a few test the fruitloop announces he got the dna necessary to stabilize her. That he will easily synthesize the necessary components. But he wouldn’t hand over the cure unless Danny proved what he said. That he was capable of following orders and being the perfect son.

He was Holding a vial of some liquid. Telling Danny to drink it.

Vlad wouldn’t kill him right?

So he drinks the mysterious liquid. Last thing he heard was that when he wakes up he and his sister would be safe. Which confused him. Why was Jazz involved.

When he woke up things were too big. Why was everything so big? Looking around they were in a cage… on with no roof. Then he saw Dani. Dani was small. Tiny a mere toddler. Maybe 5 at the most. Wait. No no no. He was the same size.

Vlad: i hear you’re awake little badger. How unfortunate. I was hoping to move the three of us before hand. It’s not as if you’ll remember any of this. I was planning on erasing it once we were across.

Vlad was standing in front of a portal. Not his ghost portal. One separated and with a deficient design.

Vlad: this dimension simply isn’t safe for my little family. I recently recorded an artifact that will allow us to jump dimensions. One time use unfortunately. With no stable portal not even your allies will find us.

Yea. No. That’s not happening. Danny didn’t agree to be turned into a toddler. Nor loose his memories.

He wasn’t going with the fruitloop. He just had to phase out of here. He couldn’t get himself to fully phase. Only a hand.

Vlad who hadn’t even looked up from the now glowing portal: “even you should have realized your powers aren’t working. It’s why i needed more dna samples. To fix both my children. Far to young, body’s to frail to handle them all. You’ll slowly grow into them.”

The fruitloop finally turned to face him and Dani. Approaching them. Picking them up. Did he really just pick him up?

No.

This was not okay with Danny. So he started hitting, kicking and squirming. All while Dani stayed asleep.

Vlad: Daniel behave. Act more like your sister. The portal is only one way trip. You wouldn’t want to be left behind now would you.

The fruitloop was only getting close to the portal. He had to act.

One way trip… Act more like his sister. Act like Dani.

So.

He hit the man as hard as he could. Until the man let go and essentially threw them to the ground oh so close to this new dimension. He didn’t have time to think.

They were so close to the portal.

He just grabbed Dani chucked his shoe at vlad to unbalance the man and fell through the portal.

Jonathan and Martha Kent certainly weren’t expecting two toddlers to fall out of the sky into their field. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time they took in two children.

Their oldests could do with some younger siblings.
