I like to imagine that post-canon the Barian Emperors favorite past times is just correcting inaccuracies in history articles or some shit

like if it’s an article about their time period they just “um actually” the fucking article writers and publishers, of course anonymously

I also like to imagine that people misinterpret Durbe aiding Nasch as treason(as in betrayal), so Ryoga is just like “UM HE ACTUALLY HAD HIS KING’S PERMISSION TO GO AID HIS FRIEND IN BATTLE”

Edit: I JUST HAD A THOUGHT! IMAGE THE DUB CHANGES TO ALITO’S AND VECTOR’S BACKSTORIES ARE CHANGES MADE BY STUPID ARTICLE WRITERS! Day 5: Consequences

I’m just…angry at the way Dr. Faker was written. Despite being the "big bad," it felt like all he did was sit in a chair and cackle for most of the first season. He felt like a cardboard cutout more than an actual character. When the big "ohhh you have to forgive me Kaito I wanted to spare you…" moment happened, it felt so undeserving and flat instead of a proper redemption. Kaito should not have forgiven such a character. Notions of filial piety put aside, Dr. Faker simply felt too one-dimensional to be redeemed.

Had he been written with more of a morally gray approach in mind, I believe it would have enhanced his personality and made him more of a deserving "villain." Either that, or perhaps his story began at the wrong time. Instead of beginning with him in his chair, brooding, begin a year before the doomed journey of Byron and Kazuma.

He’s a desperate father, seeking to save his son with cancer. The Barians offer him a cure in return for spreading a drug known as "Baria" across the human world. Roping in his old university friend, Byron, the two embark on a journey that strains their relationships with their families and the world around them. Guns, cancer, cards and aliens…what more would a faker need to craft the perfect drug?
