I think the biggest appeal of Barduil as a ship to me is the one least talked about, which is that Legolas would suddenly become a big brother to 3 siblings all at once.

just wanted to come on here and share this thing that I started 'drawing' back in April for @bi-widower-dads (Barduil Month 2023) for the prompt 'ghost'. It was meant to end up being an angsty picture of Thranduil reaching out towards Bard's ghost but I just never got round to finishing it!

I've come to the conclusion that I'm probably never gonna finish it so I should just post it now haha, hope it'd not too bad :)

The Corruption of mildly protective Thranduil in five parts + an extra

This fic is inspired by this amazing artwork by @chicotfp

This fic was supposed to be 1k so I could post it here, but somehow inflated to 3k+ Therefore: here is a random excerpt and the Ao3 link. The timeline is a bit skewed for plot purposes.

One evening that winter, he receives a visitor. He sits by the fire, nursing a glass of wine. Legolas – so sweet and so dear – slumbers on his lap. He strokes the tousled blond head and watches the flames shift. All at once the fire has a face, and a soft hissing voice. “Vigorousss S-s-s-spring,” it says. Thranduil wraps a hasty hand around his son, subtly feels for the knife in his boot. He has lived in Morgoth’s shadow, fought at Mordor’s gates. This fell Maia he will know even in sleep, yet he asks anyway, “Who is it that speaks?” In the flames, he sees a fair, smiling face. “Do you not know?” “Sauron,” he says with thrilling boldness. The flames laugh. “Mairon isss my name,” it tells him, and dissolves. Mairon has a sweet voice, and sweeter words. He flickers in the flames every night, and Thranduil, taken by curiosity, lingers.

Well, in the end, late again. But like it's less than three hours lol (at least in my time-zone).

This is Day 15-Mortality (or could be Day 24-Death too I guess)

Yeah, so final post for now I guess. I was going for illustrated children's book vibes here. I didn't get to draw as much as I wanted but hey, that's life I guess.

I think I'm gonna write like a short novel here lol

but first bg bc I finally had time and I had so much fun~

Looks a lot more cheerful here and not as gloomy(angsty), right?

So a bit about the illustration. I don't remember the title, but I read a fic where Bard was refered to as a mayfly (I guess it could appear in muliple fics but I distinctly remeber one).

First I didn't know what that was exactly, but after a quick google search I realised that my country is kinda famous for having them (I just didn't know the english name). It's Tiszavirág in my language. So that is where I got the idea for this. But like I combined the mayfly with the firefly mainly bc I like using the glow effect.

I think I loved that fic but was very sleep deprived at the time of reading so I probably should re-read it to do it justice.

Honestly like, I think I spendt as much time on this as the others combined. I like having bold outlines on my drawings so it's uncommon for me to do an illustrattion like this. During this month I used all three of my go-to styles.

I am so glad I took part in this, it really helped me to relax and just get my mind of my exams (on a side note, I didn't want to belive it, but one of my exams had a correction error in it, and I was notified almost a week later. This is huge for me bc the extra points are a big advantage with the finals).

Anyway, I look forward to next year (is it too soon to say that?)~
