Aikatsu! Franchise to Hold Online Poll to Choose "Aikatsu 8 2020" Unit Members
The official website for the Aikatsu! franchise has announced that an online poll to choose the eight members of the new unit "Aikatsu 8 2020" will be held in commemoration of the franchise's ninth anniversary and the announcement for its new project. The selected eight idols from the four series will support the new project through the unit activities.
In the first TV anime, the original unit "Aikatsu 8" was formed twice. The members of the first one formed in 2014 were Mizuki Kanzaki, Mikuru Natsuki, Ichigo Hoshimiya, Otome Arisugawa, Yurika Todo, Seira Otoshiro, Sora Kazesawa, and Maria Himesato. Those of the second one in 2015 were Ichigo Hoshimiya, Mizuki Kanzaki, Aoi Kiriya, Ran Shibuki, Sakura Kitaouji, Yurika Todo, Sumire Hikami, and Akari Ozora.
During the voting period, you can vote for one idol from each series a day - Aikatsu! (26 idols), Aikatsu Stars! (14 idols), Aikatsu Friends! (11 idols), and Aikatsu on Parade! (one idol, but you can vote for idols from other series in this section, too). It means you can vote for four idols a day. The top three idols from Aikatsu!, the top two from Stars! and Friends!, and the top one from Parade! will be chosen as the members of "Aikatsu 8 2020."
Further details of the poll including its voting period will be revealed at 21:00 on August 10 (JST), three hours after the announcement for the Aikatsu! new series in the special web program "Bandai x BN Pictures Festival" to be streamed on YouTube, LINE LIVE, and Bandai Channel from 18:00 on the day.

Bandai Japan Updates HQ Window Display for New Year with Tamagotchi Original
We are on the eve of a new year, and Bandai Japan has updated the window display at the headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. The display at Bandai HQ has been updated on December 26th, 2022 to gear up for the new year. Mametchi’s adorable Santa outfit has been removed, but the new window display is impressive! Looks like Bandai is bringing in the new year with a big push for the Tamagotchi Original re-launch! Let’s not forget that there are already two more Tamagotchi Original shells being released next month.
The window display looks just like the vintage Tamagotchi Original packaging, featuring the same graphics and the new Tamagotchi logo featured int he center around a wall of Tamagotchi Original’s in their packaging, with a television screen in the middle.
The television is playing the LAUSBUBxBose RAP'N'TECHNOTCHI music video that was recently released. We also love the Tamagotchi version of the country Japan featured at the bottom, how adorable is that?

Bandai Japan Announces Spy x Family Tamagotchi
Spy x Family is a Japanese magna series, and it is now getting its own Tamagotchi! Bandai Japan has announced the collaboration on their website, and it’s hitting shelves later this year. Let’s take a deeper look at this upcoming manga collaboration.
First off, caregivers will be taking care of cute Anya Forger who sis the main character and has telepathic abilities which were created in an experiment conducted by an unknown organization.
You’ll enroll in Eden Academy, which is the highly prestigious private school located in Berlint, Ostania. Depending on your care of Anya, she will evolve into different outfits inspired by the series, including two special outfits unique to the Tamagotchi. Outfits include her uniform, department store outing, swimsuit, pajamas, detective, girly, classic, academic, school boy, wizard coordination, and dress-up.
Anya also has a variety of facial expressions to show her mood. The facial expressions appear to be happy, scared, joy, fear, and surprise.
You can feed Anya a meal of rice, which does not have an image, it’s indicated as coming soon, and the snack you can feed Anya is her favorite, peanuts!
There are three mini games to play on the Spy x Family Tamagotchi, these three include Dodgeball, Spy Word Match, and one that has yet to be announced, Bandai Japan is keeping this right now as “Coming Soon”. We’ll just have to wait and see!
Various animations from the manga series will appear on screen, including Loid Forger’s disguise and two more that have yet to be announced.
If you neglect to take care of Anya Forger, then she will walk away in a unique animation where she will walk further from the display.
The Spy x Family Tamagotchi will be available in two different shells, Anyacchi Pink, and Spy Green. Both shells are listed at ¥2,530 and will be available in Japan on Saturday December 17th, 2022. Preorders are already available from select retailers such as Amazon Japan.

Tamagotchi Exhibit at Tokyo National Museum
Bandai Japan informed us back in September that Tamagotchi would be exhibited at the Tokyo National Museum this November in an exhibit called “National Treasure Exhibition 150 Years Later - My Treat, My Treasure in the Future”. They even teased “What will Tamagotchi look like in 150 years? Let’s think together”.
Well time flies, and the exhibit is now live starting on Wednesday, November 2nd 2022 from 9:30 - 17:00. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing time. Chikatch1 on Twitter was lucky enough to visit the Tamagotchi exhibit in the museum and even provide a picture! The exhibit features the major Tamagotchi releases dating back to 1996 and up to 2021 with the release of the Tamagotchi Smart.
At the very end after the Tamagotchi Smart, you’ll see a tease for a Tamagotchi in November of 2172. Can you imagine what Tamagotchi will look like in 150 years? Bandai Japan has a gray silhouette of a Tamagotchi and what looks like Mametchi and Kuchipatchi in rainbow color with question marks on them.

Bandai Japan Announces Digimon Color V-Pet V1 & V2
It’s finally here! After several teasers dropped by Bandai Japan on the Digimon website and social media profiles, the Digimon Color V-Pet is now official. To help celebrate the 25th anniversary of Digimon Bandai Japan has released the original Digimon V-Pet V1 and V2 in color! Although the Digimon Vital Bracelet is the first color screen Digimon device, this is truly the first Digimon v-pet that is in color! It’s giving us Tamagotchi Plus Color (TMGC+C) vibes from 2008!
There will be four color v-pets, which include two version 1 and two version 2 devices. V1 shells include brown and gray, where V2 shells include white and black.It is important to note that version 1 shells have the same content, and version 2 shells have the same content.
The new screen unlocks a world of color! Not only are the characters in color, but the entire display including the background, menu screens, and more. The background can be changed, and you can get the background of other versions by connecting with them.
Digimon Color can only connect to other Digimon Color devices, it is not possible to connect to other Digimon v-pets. The device features the same keychain design, but when you look at the bottom of the device there is a small flap where you can unveil the USB Type-C charging port at the bottom right-hand corner. Now that is modern! For comparison, the Tamagotchi Smart feature micro USB at this time. Bandai Japan notes that the device is the same exact size as the original, and modernization has not compromised the shape or size in any way!
The character lineup Is based on the original 18 Digimon per v-pet version 1 and version 2. ShinMonzaemon from Monzaemon in the V1, and Ebemon for Vademon in the V2. 17 characters are displayed, but one character in each version is hidden!
The training function you know and love is there in full color, and is of course different for V1 and V2 programming. There is also the single player battle system too, which does not require a partner. It’s just so nice to see the graphics in color!
Support functions have been enhanced, and are easier to play. These include faster breeding which helps your Digimon grow up faster. Cold mode, which will cause growth to stop and stomach and muscle strength will not decrease. Lastly, the backup system where you can save up to one Digimon training as a backup.
There’s even a bonus item! You’ll get a mini shikishi by Japanese designer Kenji Watanabe which features Tyranomon titled Digimon 25th Anniversary Shikishi Version Digimon Origin.

Preorders are now available on Premium Bandai Japan for ¥6,930, preorders are set to close on September 30th, 2022 and will ship in February 2023.

Bandai Japan Launches Tamagotchi Remix
Remix! What is exactly is this? Well there’s no definition technically so we are going to sum it up. It appears that Bandai Japan is releasing a page on their website titled “Tamagotchi Remix” which is focused around the unique Tamagotchi personality and brand being mixed into other areas of society. Taking Tamagotchi out of the toy. The page features news which currently features three remixes.
The first remix is about a new music video from new wave techno pop band LAUSBUBxBose (Schataraper) that is set to be released on November 22nd, 2022, which is on the eve of Tamagotchi’s 26th anniversary! There is a teaser image released which appears to show several Tamagotchi Smart’s in a recording studio, so we’re going to assume the sounds of the Tamagotchi Smart will be featured in the songs long with the actual Tamagotchi Smart in the video.
The second remix is that Tamagotchi will be featured on Tokyo FM/JFN’s School of Lock! talk radio show that is broadcasted nationwide in Japan. The popular commercial radio networks School of Lock! show features guests each episode and unique topics daily from 22:00 to 23:55. The broadcast will begin on Monday, November 21st, 2022 and run through Thursday, November 24th, 2022. They’ll feature a 2 minute review of the history and modern era of Tamagotchi.
Last but not least, the third remix is all about fashion! We reported on this news last week, and we’re still super excited! Bandai Namco Europe has partnered up with Max&Co. to deliver a Tamagotchi line of clothing for the Spring-Summer 2023 line that is scheduled to be released on Monday, November 28th, 2022. Bandai Japan is nicknaming the collection “Tamagotchi in Paris” which is interesting because Max&Co. is nicknaming the collection “90’s in a capsule”. Bandai Japan notes that the collection is scheduled to be sold both in store and online all over the world excluding North America and South America.
We’ll thats the first installment of Tamagotchi remix! We suspect additional remixes might be added as Bandai focuses on bringing the Tamagotchi brand outside of the toy, and we’re really excited about that! We’ll keep you updated as these remixes are released!

Bandai Japan Announces Tokyo Revengers Tamagotchi
And we have another new Tamagotchi collaboration! Bandai Japan has partnered up with Tokyo Revengers, a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ken Wakui which has been running since 2017. The release will be exclusive to Premium Bandai Japan where preorders are now available.
This collaboration will go by the nickname of Torevetchi, and will be available in three shells, two of which will be exclusive to Hug My Tamagotchi set. The two shells that are exclusive to the Hug My Tamagotchi set are designed after two main characters, Mikey (Manjiro San), and Draken (Ken Ryuguji). The Mikey shell is red with black buttons and features graphics designed after Mikey’s favorite machine and personal clothes. The Draken shell is pink, features a dragon-like design, Emma’s bear, and Draken’s clothes.
The Mikey and Draken shells are exclusive to the Hug My Tamagotchi set. These are adorable soft vinyl figures of Mikey and Draken that hugs your Tamagotchi! Your Tokyo Revengers Tamagotchi fits perfectly in their hands and will act as a stand while being adorable!
Lastly, there will be a limited edition shell! This shell which is called Gang Uniform version features a black shell, which is rather simplistic and features white buttons along with two words, one on each side of the screen that reads “heaven and earth” on the left, and “solitary” on the right. This limited edition shell will not be exclusive to the Hug My Tamagotchi set.
It also appears that Bandai Japan will be releasing two more Hug My Tamagotchi sets, they tease that preorders will be available starting on September 2nd, 2022 and tease silhouettes of the two Hug My sets.
The Tokyo Revengers Tamagotchi’s feature the same programming regardless of the shell you choose. There are 25 characters you can care for.
Three mini-games such as motorcycle racing, crane game to catch the teddy bear, and a bowling game.
Appearances will happen throughout the game play from Emma, Yuzuha, and Tina!
Preorders for the Tokyo Revengers Tamagotchi’s are now available on Premium Bandai Japan until September 26th, 2022 and are scheduled to be shipped in March 2023. The Mikey & Draken Hug My Tamagotchi sets are available for ¥6,000, and the limited edition Gang Uniform version is available for ¥3,600.

Bandai Japan Announces Tamagotchi x Sanrio Gashapon Keychain Charms
Already announced by Sanrio, available in Gashapon machines, Bandai Japan has officially announced the Tamagotchi x Sanrio Gashapon keychain charms. The announcement provides no new information, but just a formality that these keychains are now available in Gashapon machines throughout Japan.
Bandai Japan also lists all of the 10 charms, excluding the 2 secret charms. These are Mame Kitty, Little Weep, Patchipurin, Sam Wawatchi, Gudetama Karapa, Cinnamon Milk, Melody Pop, Kuromi Gas, Goro2Awamoko, and Badtz Maru Tsuyomi. The two remaining secret charms have yet to be revealed!

Look like Bandai Japan is going all in on the Tamagotchi Original! New to the official Bandai Amazon store is the Tamagotchi Original page! You can see the branding is on theme with the Tamagotchi Original that was just recently re-launched in Japan.
This includes all 16 original shells, and the 2 additional shells that were just released! If you’re not able to find these Tamagotchi Original shells in your local toy shop in Japan, then Amazon is a great choice, but we must warn you it does look like most are currently out of stock!
