WHAT IS THE FIRESIDE? Once a humble coffee shop nestled in the heart of a great free company, The Fireside was the go-to place for members of Firelight Trading Company looking for a bite to eat after a long mission. Realising its potential as both a meeting place and a means of capital, its proprietor expanded the business throughout the various city-states of Eorzea until The Fireside became synonymous with coffee, company and great food; sourly needed after the anguish of The Final Days. Now, patrons old and new can gather to enjoy the hospitality and cosy atmosphere these avenues provide. This establishment was made to focus on the creation and fostering of late-night/oceanic roleplay in the Final Fantasy XIV community. Though physically located in Balmung/Crystal’s Shirogane, the Fireside’s expansion into almost all the city-states creates a space where your character can walk in from almost anywhere, and our focus on a coffee-shop with a laid-back atmosphere encourages off-the-cuff, casual roleplay. "I'm not a late night roleplayer," you claim! You're still welcome to join our discord and hang with some night-owls or forward this on to any of your oceanic/insomniac friends. We'd appreciate it!

How many hours had passed as she found herself hidden away in her rooms at the free company estate? It was anyone’s guess, including her own. 

Morning turned to afternoon and night soon befell the distant, fiery hues of oranges and reds in the sky as the sun set behind the horizon, giving way to an empty evening. For just as long as she had been laid up in her bed had she been perched by the vanity, staring into her own reflection in the lavishly made mirror. 

The image gazing back at her was one of familiarity and yet so foreign to the surroundings around her. Most of her days were spent this way, scrying into the icy blues of her eyes in hopes of delving deep down into the abyss of her mind to take hold of that part of her which was hidden away. It was there, it hadn’t been stolen away forever, but it was just beyond her grasp. The fingertips in her consciousness just barely brushed against those memories, fuzzy and blurred. 

Nhea had spent an agonizing amount of time flipping through the pages of the well put together book that Khair had constructed for her with little expectation that it would help. A book which now fell scattered to the floor in frustration. It was of no aid other than giving her names to faces she would occasionally come across on the estate grounds, helping her short term memory to keep hold of those titles.

A hand lifted to the reflective surface, touching her features upon the cold glass, recognizing the person that mimicked her every move but still finding that emptiness overwhelming. Her lids closed with a heavy sigh followed by a slow and steady inhale. It was a calming and serene moment that would be shattered just as the glass was shattered caused by that delicate hand forming a fist and slamming into the mirror. The reflection was no more when she finally reopened her eyes, the clinking of the cracked pieces that had broken violently falling to the vanity being only an underlying sound to the yell that came from the tiny miqo’te. 

Tiny warm streams of crimson trickled down her wrist to form droplets at her elbow that would fall below her. She was ready to give up. If the memories came back then they would do so on their own accord, but Nhea was done putting in an extensive effort. 

Without even bothering to clean her hand, she slowly spun around and made way back to her bed, crawled under the covers and eventually fell back into a less than peaceful slumber.

Small pages, 32s, 2 UM

She despaired.

She wept in the corner as we spoke, the Young Blade having walked off in disgust at me; the Machinist, afar, intentionally avoiding my words; my reflection, mocking us as she showed "friendship;" the Magiteknologist and Chirurgeon, trying to force my reflection to show her hand.

And in the corner, she wept, despairing that she caused great trouble, that she had made any of hate her, that she had done some great wrong both by seeking justice for me and by, incidentally, bringing my dark reflection back to the Tower.

We were able to pull her back from it, with calm words of love and trust and, perhaps, the connection of the ring she and I both wear. But I remained trembling, nonetheless. She is so loved. She told me she has so much to live for, that while she cared naught for her life before, she sees meaning and purpose in it now. That she could be drawn into a darkness that might have consumed her once again...

The thought is a heavy weight to bear.
