Glass Onion was so real for having a bunch of A-lister actors and celebs in tiny minor 10-second roles all throughout the movie. Hugh Grant as Benoit's... husband? butler? roommate? amazing. Ethan Hawke as "Efficient Man"? I expected him to join the group on the boat, but then I honestly forgot about him until the credits. Joseph Gordon-Lewitt as the voice of the hourly "Dong"? wouldn't be the same without him. I thought Jackie Hoffman would be in the whole movie? still iconic though. Natasha Lyonne, Serena Williams, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Yo-Yo Ma, Stephen Sondheim all playing themselves for maybe a minute? Angela Lansbury had a guest appearance at one point?? honestly, love that for them, this is what all movies should be like
Ok I'm gonna be honest I saw some mild spoilers about Glass Onion, specifically including that Benoit was gay, and I thought that was just a fandom well understood "should've been this way" kinda thing
But no
He really is gay. And in a relationship with a char played by Hugh Grant. Living together in the cutest fanciest little apartment.
It makes so much sense. I still didn't see it coming that it would ever be explicitly shown. These movies are so good, I'll happily watch them forever.
Saw Glass Onion yesterday and besides needing another five million Benoit Blanc mysteries, I also need to acknowledge Janelle Monae has captivated me since Metropolis and clearly shows no signs of stopping.
i know it was in large part due to not being able to leave the house in the pandemic but i do think it's endearing that benoit blanc gets just like sherlock holmes when he's without a good case: like a completely despondent & pathetic little infant screaming for better enrichment in his enclosure
