the countdown was on the tv, music blasting through the house as the bodies conversed and celebrated the end of another year. you sat next to max, a champagne flute in hand as you laughed at the embarrassing stories he shared about his best friend.

you felt the sofa dip next to you, an arm slinging around your shoulder. you tilted your head, already knowing who it was by the smell of his cologne engulfing you. but you met his eyes regardless, a smile on your face as he smiled down at you.

“having fun?” he asked lowly in your ear.

you nodded, tapping the screen on your phone to display the time on your lock screen. 11:59.

you turned back to your curly haired boyfriend, “it’s almost midnight.”

he hummed, smiling as he stood up, offering you his hand, “guess we better get ready for our big kiss.”

you laughed, his hand snaking around your waist. you wrapped your hands around his neck, the people standing in the living room with you now following the countdown on the tv.

3, 2, 1…

you smiled as he pressed his lips against yours, your fingers threading through the curls on the nape of his neck. everyone around you cheered or shared kisses with their partners, the two of you breaking apart as you both giggled. his nose bumping against yours.

“happy new year, my love.”

he pressed a kiss to your temple, “happy new year, baby.”

i haven't watched all the shows, so my takes are really probably quite bad on this. but my favourite show is 60s spider-man. just because of sheer enjoyment i derive from it and all it's campitutde. i remember in uni i'd just watch the entire series all day while i worked. fucks hard. has a tv theme ever fucked this hard? no. never. objectively.

i know a lot of people might say spectacular spider-man or the 90's series or something, but for sheer enjoyment, it's gotta be 60s spidey for me. it's pure serotonin. just a good time.

least favourite - god. i don't think it's fair for me to say, but without a doubt the ugliest-looking series to me is the most recent one. i just kind of hated everything i've seen from it - i know it has it's fanbase and i'm glad it's found it - but god, even compared to ultimate spider-man (which nobody liked) it's so... ugly. the colours are so muted, the designs are so uninspired, the animation is so stilted and cheap-looking (not me saying 60s spider-man fucks hard with it's shoe-string budget but the most recent disney show looks cheap) - i guess i didn't give it a fair shot, and i haven't watched anything past the first like, origin shorts but everything i've seen from it... god.

oh yeah. and the va for peter is just. terrible. i don't know how they managed to do worse than drake bell, but they really did.

see the thing that makes stories interesting is conflict. Which is why audiences don’t tend to enjoy it when a story goes “plot twist! there was never any conflict to begin with!”

ice skating was SO incredibly stupid today, I nearly collapsed twice while standing upright and tripped three separate times trying to stop and then we were doing crossovers and i was like fighting for my fucking life bc my quads were burning. but for once there is a clear culprit to me failing at something, which is that my strength trainer is pushing me harder and harder these days -- and i do strength training on tuesday mornings, so obviously by night time i'm already gassed and throwing ice skating on top of that my muscles, esp my legs, just go full fuck you i'll kill us both mode...ugh. and then i also do strength training on thursday mornings but that's about to be softball day, so now i'm like. i gotta rearrange my whole strength training schedule so i don't blow something out or tear something just because i'm Doing Too Much Physical Activity. which is to be clear a problem i have never encountered before in my life. and i was not raised in jock culture, so now i'm learning in this in my damn 30s like wow...if you do too much....you'll fall over standing upright and it will be so embarrassing <3 like girl help I was raised to be a poet not a guy who does stuff :( what do you mean i can't just brute force my way into better health
