Previously:
>ACTION TRIGGER NOT MET. DUNGEON MOVE ACTIVATED.
You are overwhelmed at the buffet of options laid out before you on the PANICKER’S GUIDE table of contents like so many succulent tapas. Each offers a saucy sneak peak at what kind of terrible things might lurk ahead. Each tempting morsel promises to sate your desperate need for information. But you just don’t know where to start.
The bacon-wrapped dates? The stuffed olives? The crispy cod balls?
Paralyzed with indecision, you snap the book closed. Reading’s for nerds, anyway…probably. You jam the GUIDE back into your BACKPACK and sling it over your shoulder. You cast your eyes around the CHUTE ROOM, consider the exits.
EXITS:
UP the STONE CHUTE
SOUTH through TUNNEL
You figure it’s too much to hope that this whole thing can be fixed by climbing up that CHUTE. Would sort of be anticlimactic at this point anyway. Who’d go to all of the trouble of dragging you from your bed, pitching you down the chute, and banishing you to the LANDS BELOW? Not to mention putting together the KIT? Writing the GUIDE? So really?
UP the STONE CHUTE
SOUTH through TUNNEL
The only creature you’ve met so far went that way. Granted, it was a weird garbage monster that called you things like “Meat” and “Chewstick” and “Snackpack.” But it didn’t attack you, and while you didn’t exactly exchange names and numbers, it used its words rather than its fangs. That’s not nothing.
What are you going to do? Stay here with the weird phosphorescent MUSHROOMS?
The MUSHROOMS have gone out.
>GO SOUTH It is VERY dark.
You make special friends with the left hand wall, first with your nose and then with your hand. Keeping one hand on the wall and the other sweeping the expanse of air ahead of you, you grope forward a step at a time.
You proceed this way for thirty nerve wracking minutes. You hate it here. You still don’t remember any TRIBUNAL, but you fantasize about crawling your way back to the surface if only to so you have the opportunity to medal in Creative Profanity in their general direction.
That’s when the lights come up.
You are in THE BONEHOARD.
Oh, this’ll be good.
The light flares blue and cold from the four wrought iron TORCHES held clenched in the fists at the ends of skeletal arms. Each arm is composed of the artfully-arranged and carefully-modified bones of at least a dozen humans. The buttresses and arches above are similarly fashioned from the metabolically impaired. In fact, aside from the heavy DOUBLE DOORS to the South, the freshly swept floor, and the STATUE of the weeping lady in the FOUNTAIN at the center of this room, it’s just bones all the way down. There are piles of bones here, fussily sorted by size and type. Someone or something devoted a lot of time to this endeavor.
It smells not unpleasantly of petrichor. Cart tracks lead to the EAST. The GUIDE vibrates quietly in the bottom of your pack.
EXITS:
SOUTH through DOUBLE DOORS
EAST through the SPLINTERED ARCH
WEST into the CHAPEL
NORTH into CHUTE ROOM

my year in fic
I was tagged by the magnificent @lqtraintracks and @lettersbyelise to share one(ish) line from each of the fics I wrote this year. Thanks for the tags, babes! It was great fun reading yours and yours, respectively! 😍
There are 13 on my list which I quite like, numerically. Apologies for any typos, my left hand is a bit useless at the moment and won't do what I tell it.
Tagging @oknowkiss @tackytigerfic @corvuscrowned @cavendishbutterfly @skeptiquewrites @thebooktopus @hogwartsfirebolt @kbrick - I'd love to hear a few quotes from your 2023 fics!!
January
Gather Your Will With Mine (Drarry, E, 1.9k)
Aaah this mad microfic-filled collab fic written for @onbeinganangel . I wrote 3 of the sections and so i will choose a line from one of them
They hurtle along winding roads, Draco wrapped around Harry, the engine a hot insistent snarl between their legs.
Towards Sennen Cove. Towards the edge of the world. Towards a beachside chippy called Oh My Cod!
April
Good Intent (Jeddy & Heddy, E, 11.9k)
They say you never get over your first love. Never forget the raw depth, the thrilling newness of the feelings you had for them. Never stop feeling like a small part of them belongs to you, and will always be a permanent fixture in your heart. But the encounter with Draco makes Teddy realise that although it may never go away, that small part is shrinking, has been shrinking ever since James laid his hand on Teddy’s thigh that time, consenting, intentional, claiming. Teddy had been wondering if he needed to stop loving Harry before he could be really allowed to have James. To love James the way he should be loved. But perhaps there's actually more than enough love to go around.
Be careful what you hiss for (Drarry, E, 5.6k)
I excuse myself to go to the Owlery but instead head straight for the gents. Afterwards, I wobble on almost boneless legs back to the Auror office. I'm not normally one for a workplace wank, and the surrounds of the end cubicle are far from romantic, with its puerile graffiti (no idea who Briony is, but if you need to see a detailed illustration of her enormous breasts accommodating a man's penis quite comfortably, then you’ll be in luck), and the persistent stench of the deodorising concoction the Ministry see fit to dowse the place in puts one off one's stroke a little, but needs must. And I had a dire need.
May
Mischief Managed (Sirry, E, 1.7k)
Harry makes Petunia’s famous seven-layer salad with chopped bacon and peas, which Sirius declares 'fucking delicious' in a low voice while staring at him intently. After that Harry is the one to suggest a bath, and Sirius' pupils expand in what feels like slow motion, before he nods and said, "Great fucking plan." Sirius says fuck a lot. It's one of the many things Harry likes about him.
A Quickening Hope, A Freshening Glee (Drarry & Wolfstar, T, 3.9k)
It was only one marriage bond in a thousand that triggered a mind link like the one Harry and Draco shared. He couldn’t say he was surprised though, they were a power couple like Draco said, and in more ways than one. And when two extremely powerful wizards bond their magic to each other… miracles can happen.
August
Nothing Compares (Drarry, T, 3.1k)
Well done,” Harry whispers, feeling strangely lost, itching with that feeling he has when he sees something beautiful that isn’t his.
Thunder Moon (Drarry, E, 3.6k)
The feeling of being engulfed by Draco was overwhelming, especially with the moon so fat and milky, so close to his rut. Despite double-dosing Wolfsbane that morning, Harry still had to bracket his arms on the mattress to stop himself from roughly clawing and rutting his partner. Slow, slow. Slowly and languorously he pressed in and pulled out, the hot friction of it making them both delirious
September
Deja Vu (Drarry, E, 11k)
Despite the fact that his great-grandfather Pollux had possessed the 'Third Eye’ from a very young age—that’s according to Mother, and Draco has the impression she'd been extremely fond of the man—the Sight didn't come to Draco until later in life, when he was nineteen, and soon after his release from Azkaban.
The Gift (Tedrarry, M, ~500words)
Harry had known long ago what it felt like to hold Teddy's hand, but it was so very different now.
Desperately Seeking (Drarry, E, 34k)
"You try finding the perfect person when you work a nine-to-five as an Auror, plus every second Saturday!”
“And the man says he doesn't need our help,” Lily deadpanned.
October
Punkie Night (Drarry, M, ~500words)
Draco pulls the ring box out of his pocket, toying with the little clasp on the front. It springs open in an obnoxiously enthusiastic way, as if it just can't fucking wait one more second
November
Confessions in Tablecloth and Linoleum (Drarry, E, microfic)
If Draco was asked what prompted him—which would be an impudent thing for anyone to ask—he would probably say that he was bored. He just needed something to do, and it turned out to be Potter.
December
Wow (Drarry, E, microfic)
Draco wouldn't be able to talk about it later, which didn't matter, because no one was asking, (though he kind of really wanted someone to). All he had was his sharp, cruel vocabulary—words that didn't match up to how he actually felt.

Otsumami Set (Makes 4 Servings)
Tumblr media
We bring you this recipe from our panel, “Anime Foodies: Laid-Back Camp Season 2”.
As part of the birthday celebrations for Nadeshiko and Aoi in Episode 12, the other girls prepare a set of three “otsumami” along with the other dishes that are designed to pair well with alcohol as a kind gesture to their booze-loving teacher, Ms. Toba.
Caprese Salad
2 Large – Red Tomatoes
2 Balls (8 oz.-Size) – Mozzarella
Handful – Basil
1 TBSP – Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 Pinches – Black Pepper
Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into 1 cm (c. 1/3 inch) thick slices.
Arrange in rows with tomato, mozzarella, and then 1 large/2 small basil leaves and repeat the process until you are out of ingredients.
Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil evenly across the rows of ingredients.
Sprinkle over the black pepper and serve.
Tumblr media
White Fish in Foil Packet
2 Thick-Cut, Skin-On Fillets – Whitefish Such as Halibut or Sea Bass (Haddock, Cod)
3 oz. – Shimeji Mushrooms
8-10 – Cherry Tomatoes (Grape Tomatoes)
1/2 – Red Bell Pepper
1/4 – Small White/Yellow Onion
1/2 TSP – Kosher Salt
1/2 TSP – Black Pepper
Check your fillets for any leftover bones or scales.
Prepare a foil packet with double-layered heavy duty aluminum foil.
Spray the foil with cooking spray and lay the fillets skin-side down in the center of the packet.
Season the fillets with some of the salt and pepper.
Slice the red pepper and onions into thin strips.
Separate the mushrooms and chop off any dirty bases.
Place the mushrooms and tomatoes in sections of the packet and spread the sliced peppers and onions across the other ingredients.
Season with the remaining salt and pepper and seal the packet.
Place the packet in a skillet over medium-high heat for 2 minutes.
Reduce the heat to medium and cook for 10-12 minutes depending on the thickness of your fillets.
Remove from the heat and let sit for 2 minutes.
Open the packet and serve.
Tumblr media
Bacon-Wrapped Onigiri
1 Cup (Dried) – Japanese Short Grain White Rice
2 TSP – Toasted Sesame Seeds
1 TSP – Kosher Salt
15 Slices – Thin-Cut Bacon
Prepare the rice per the instructions provided here.
Place the rice in a mixing bowl and mix in the sesame seeds and salt.
Allow the rice to cool for 5 minutes and then form into 5 small discs.
Allow the discs to set for 5 minutes.
Set three strips of bacon down with the pieces crossing each other in the middle to make the shape of an asterisk.
Set the rice disc into the center of the bacon slices where they meet.
Wrap each piece of bacon around the disc one at a time, trimming any excess lengths of bacon as necessary and spreading the bacon as it is wrapped to ensure the rice is entirely covered by the meat.
Place the wrapped rice discs with the seam side down in a pan over medium heat, cover, and cook for 7 minutes.
Flip to the other side, cover, and cook another 7 minutes.
Uncover and continue to cook on each side if additional crispiness is desired on the bacon.
Remove from the pan, allow to cool for 2 minutes, and serve.

Must-eat British Cuisine in London
Tumblr media
British food might not have the same reputation as some of our neighbouring European nations, but one thing that British food does is fill you up! During your stay at hotels in Lancaster (Gate?) England you can look forward to sampling the best of British cuisine. Here are the most popular dishes from the British Isles to try.
Scotch Eggs
The quintessential pub snack, a Scotch egg is a hard-boiled egg coated in sausage meat and breadcrumbs that is either baked or deep-fried. These are often available in traditional and gastro pubs as well as at food markets such as Borough Market. Modern variations have been adapted to cater for vegetarians and vegans. Choose to eat it plain or with a side of tomato ketchup, mustard, or horseradish sauce. These are a handy pick-me-up while enjoying London day packages.
Toad in the Hole
Toad in the hole or sausage toad is a traditional family dish in England and the British Isles consisting of pork sausages baked in Yorkshire pudding batter. It’s usually served with gravy and vegetables. The dish is often cooked at home but you can find it in old-school pubs and restaurants near Lancaster Gate that serve classic British food.
Haggis
Hailing from Scotland, haggis is a savoury pudding containing sheep's heart, liver, and lungs minced with onion, suet, and spices. It was traditionally cooked while encased in the animal's stomach. Nowadays, haggis remains a popular dish in Scotland and appears in a couple of London pubs and restaurants. Vegan and vegetarian haggis alternatives are particularly popular.
Full English Breakfast
A full English breakfast consists of bacon, sausage, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, and buttered toast. Variations apply when dining in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Book London accommodation offers that include a complimentary breakfast if you want to sample this tasty morning plate for yourself.
Fish and Chips
A staple of the British food scene and best consumed wrapped in newspaper by the sea, fish and chips is a must-try. This consists of battered white fish – usually cod or haddock – served with thick-cut potato chips. Choose to add a side of mushy peas and sprinkle salt and vinegar as you see fit. You will find fish and chips on the menu at most hotel restaurants near Lancaster Gate.
Bangers and Mash
Another sausage-based dish, bangers and mash is a very simple affair of sausages served with mashed potato. Sometimes it’s topped with a dash of gravy. This homely meal is comforting and popular throughout the year. You can purchase vegan-friendly alternatives in London.
 Afternoon Tea
Afternoon Tea was conceived as a light snack to fill the gap between lunch and dinner but has become a meal in its own right. The traditional presentation is finger sandwiches served on a tiered cake stand with scones and sweet bakes. Tea flows on the side and it’s common to add a glass of prosecco or champagne. If you want to indulge in afternoon tea, seek out London accommodation offers that include a sitting at your chosen hotel.

Food Diary: Week Three
Tea, a clementine, deepfried oven chips (topped with table salt, ground black pepper, Hellman’s mayonnaise, chopped spring onions, spinach, diced red pepper and [Bull’s Eye] Carolina Reaper Extra Hot Sauce), two cups of peppermint tea, a very green apple, kale, pear, pineapple, and lemon smoothie, leftover chips (refried), several iterations on Heck sausage bagels (ft. salted butter, Philadelphia/Laughing Cow cheese spread, table salt, ground black pepper, chopped spring onions, spinach, melted plastic cheese/Homepride cheese & tomato pasta sauce, and [Bull’s Eye] Carolina Reaper Extra Hot Sauce), two ASDA Nduja Style chicken ready meals (at intervals), no Marmite wraps, sleep.
The Punisher: War Zone (one film away from completing the ‘unverse’ of films released based on Marvel properties prior to or unaffiliated with the formation of Marvel Studios, and... I can honestly say this is on the whole the strangest collected body of artistic work I think I’ve ever engaged with. Not the most interestingly weird, and not the worst either, but just the most jarring iterative creative stumbling around an unformed idea, this level of budget hitting this uncertainty of tone is seldom good and morbidly fascinating), Sinfadil, sleep.
Two small carrots, half of a BP garage chicken & bacon sandwich, one can of chocolate milk, one Nana Mexico chicken & chorizo burrito (sans beans), a handful of rather plain tortilla chips (ft. ‘salsa’), a Nana Mexico beef burrito (sans beans), sleep.
Noteworthy quantities of water, a cheese twist, a chicken & bacon croissant, a chicken pastry slice, another can of chocolate milk, many sour spiders, a can of San Pelingrino lemonade, another Heck sausage bagel (ft. salted butter, table salt, ground black pepper, chopped spring onion & and spinach, and melted plastic cheese), three episodes of The Nevers (as noted, continues to hold up and seemed a reasonable split of thematic interests for VFZ and aesthetic interests for Pepsi), one re-grilled vegan sausage roll (ft. Philadelphia & [Bull’s Eye] Carolina Reaper Extra Hot Sauce), three buttered crackers, toast (ft. salted butter, Laughing Cow cheese spread, and English mustard), two crackers (topped with salted butter, Philadelphia & [Bull’s Eye] Carolina Reaper Extra Hot Sauce), sour spiders, sleep.
Toast (ft. salted butter, Laughing Cow cheese spread, and English mustard), a final Heck sausage bagel (ft. salted butter, table salt, ground black pepper, chopped spring onion & spinach, and melted plastic cheese), a slice of toast (ft. salted butter, leftover nduja sauce), a packet of Lightly Sea Salted Crispy Bites Snacktastic™ Multigrain Bites (dipped in salted butter), two small carrots, most of the back half of an episode of Ross & Carrie (the Gene & Melissa Scott stuff getting weirder and weirder), some Nerds (yellow, green, and peach), two further Nevers (generally a lot of momentum going by the back half of the season – Z has found one debatable nitpick so far), the last of the dairy free Galaxy orange chocolate, sleep.
The rest of the back half of an episode of Ross & Carrie (very silly conclusion), another packet of Lightly Sea Salted Crispy Bites Snacktastic™ Multigrain Bites (dipped in butter), a further nduja style chicken ready meal, cheesy garlic mashed potato, toast (one slice ft. salted butter, and Marmite, one slice ft. salted butter, Laughing Cow cheese spread, English mustard), further Ross & Carrie (a psychic healer who never talks and has a huge new-age following, but also wrote a book proving to be a weird end times Christian with a bunch of random bizarre/sinister takes), two jerk chicken drumsticks, one bottle of fizzy red grape soft drink, one sesame bagel (ft. salted butter, Laughing Cow, ground black pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, chopped spring onion, fried battered cod goujons, and a potato waffle), one potato waffle wrap (ft. Laughing Cow, chopped spring onion, fried battered cod goujons, and Sweet Chili Sauce), an episode and a half of Crime Story (surprisingly effective domestic look at the Clintons), cheesy bacon maize snack straws, The Nevers season finale (a mix of emotive character work and teasing details for the future of the show unsurprisingly left Zak wanting more plot), a bowl of Special K, one episode of Doctor Who (The Three Doctors), sleep.
A Marmite wrap, one cheesy garlic mashed potato wrap (ft. salted butter, ground lack pepper, chopped spinach, deepfried chicken strips, melted plastic cheese, and leftover Double Dragon takeaway salt & pepper chicken chilies), one cheesy garlic mashed potato wrap (ft. salted butter, ground black pepper, chopped spinach, and Heck sausages), most of a Big Finish Eighth Doctor audio (Stones Of Venice, honestly charming in places but suffering the heavy-handedness of the medium pretty clearly), sleep.
