Chapter 38: Killing Kim Taehyung 

His face crumples, and he pulls you in just slightly, just a little pressing the briefest of kisses to your forehead. It’s the only bit of comfort that Yoongi allows himself to pull from you. “Yoongi- oh- what’s wrong- what’s-?”

It’s then that you register the scents, angry. The whole pack home and every one of them a tangle of distress. You'd had the door closed before he'd come in so you hadn't realized that the others where home let alone that there was something wrong. 

The pack’s scents are all terrible, all stinky and sticky filling the house with anxiety. Jimin’s gunsmoke, Jungkook’s rotting flower, Namjoon’s liquor coffee, Tae’s peppery cinnamon and Hobi’s metallic medicinal sugar. Even Jin smells a little gross- a little like a cross between curdled cream and wet puppy. Yoongi- Yoongi smells like the ocean, his salt and chocolate all murky, washing over you.You resist the urge to clamp a hand over your nose. It’s making your eyes water. 

“Tae’s asking for you.” He’s somber- doesn’t say anything more about what just happened with Jin it happens too quick. “He’s not letting any of us comfort him.” You rush out in the direction of her unhappy scent, nearly tripping through the doorframe in your hurry. 

One of Tae’s dresses sits on the floor, dropped from where you were folding it, discarded.  

You barely register Jimin trying to calm Tae in the crowded entryway. Jin’s in between the two of them, while Jungkook holds Tae up in the doorway. Jimin’s crooning, still in his work clothes that smell like too many people. White shirt rolled up at the elbows. He drove at quite frankly dangerous and record-breaking speeds once he'd received Jungkook's panicked texts. 

He holds Tae’s face between both of his hands, skimming his fingers up and over her eyebrows, eyes panicked. Arms scrambling to try and pull Tae into them. 

“Tae- I’m here baby, just come inside, we've got you, Babyboy-“ Tae shivers, swaying where she stands. She can’t see anything through her tears- can’t see but smell? 

Your comforting cake scent washes over her, hints of vanilla, a little soggy, a little wet- your body reacting to your pack’s distress. And Tae almost falls over in relief. Tae stumbles, pushing Jimin’s hands away. 

Jimin just stares blankly after her,  blinking, like his brain is struggling to make sense of the fact that his comfort is neither needed nor preferred by the one person who should prefer it. 

You barely spot the hurt look on Jimin’s face before you have an armful of Tae pressing small wet sobs to your shoulder. She drags you close by your waist- hands scrabbling like she needs to hold onto something. But only you could keep her from rocketing and crashing into nothing- bursting in a flurry of rose-colored petals or delicate feathers after taking flight. 

The short cut pokes spikey into your neck. Gone is her gorgeous shoulder-length shag, now buzzed on the sides and long at the top. Gone is the little piece that she usually tucks behind her ear or her tiny bangs that she'd constantly blow out of her eyes. Gone is everything that makes her happy with just a few clips. 

Everything that makes her boy is put front and center, it’s a good haircut in the sense that the barber had obviously know what style would make Tae look more conventionally handsome and a terrible haircut in the sense that you hate it instantly for what it does to her face. 

Her cheekbones look sharp against her ruddy cheeks and her jaw looks sharper without the hair to hide it. Even her eyes look more masculine when she looks up at you from her spot on your shoulder, face screwing awful with misery. 

It fits Tae as well as her masculinity does (which is not at all).  

Tae collapses dropping her full weight onto you, the heaving sobs coming stronger as she lays her crushed heart out for you to take care of. Hoping blindly that you will fix it- you always fix it and you always fix her and she’s not above begging. 

You, not Jimin. 

Minnie is the person that Tae should always run to first, the person she should always want first but not today and not with this. Now, Jimin stands in the doorway, stunned, shaking in time with Tae's sobs. Mouth hardening to a line, lower lip quivering. Neither needed or wanted by the one person he needs and wants above all others.

Tae makes a noise that sounds like your name, and Jimin flinches.

u’re so right abt changing the narrative abt jk by the way. literally no one saw jk as the “perfect gentleman softie romantic boyfriend material” before jikookers started that narrative and it caught on even though i think most of it has no basis in reality 😭 and the narrative applies much more to members like jimin and jhope

The way in 2016 Jungkook's nickname was "international playboy" -a nickname he coined himself- and when you compare it to the nicknames people use for him now... It's fascinating as it is scary.

I don't think it was only jikookers tho, it was definitely shippers in general.

I got into BTS in June/July 2017 and it was absolutely common and normal to see people saying Jungkook was rude, or a brat, saying "I want to fight Jungkook". I remember one tumblr post that went something like "jungkook is the type of guy I want to push into the pool with his cellphone in his pocket." It was a joke; but there was a good chunk of the fandom who just felt kind of aggressively towards him. I can confirm, he was very much a DUDE, a BRO capital letters.

A lot of things changed with love yourself era, they got out a little of the Korea bubble and got a wider perception of the world, of people and other cultures. Everyone softened (Jimin also wasn't such a babyboy but I think Jimin's changes are more layered and complicated), or at least showed a softer image after DNA. That's also when JK's change of image also came about. Many things happened at the same time, it was a time of constant change.

He wasn't shipped with every member like this, I personally saw that ship frenzy increase overtime. It mostly started from 2018 onwards, like that was the time everyone got really intense with the kooktan ships. And suddenly he was like the coveted bangtan boyfriend and people moved from the "international playboy" to actually perceiving him as the maknae and baby and adored kid in the group. Which literally was not happening like that before DNA lol. But it was a really sudden change, like it was wild. It took years for the fandom to stop illogically referring to Jimin as a flirt, but it only took a few months for Jungkook to go from the fandom's international playboy to the ideal husband. And yeah, that's how ships had a huge role in that.

Before 2018, army would've never seen him as anyone's "boyfriend" or ideal partner except for maybe Taehyung's. Because taekook was a thing from the beginning, that's the only Jungkook ship that exists since forever so before 2018 it was literally only taekookers saw him as loving or seriously considered him as someone with potential of being a romantic partner.

I know gcft also played a huge role but that happened in November 2017 so I'll just round it up to 2018 which is literally two months after lol.

I've talked about this before but I will bring it up again. Jimin was such a big, huge agent of change in who JK is, and it's something that really goes over people's heads but Jungkook getting closer to Jimin affected his image and I really believe it had an impact on his personality too.

Jimin actually had an impact in who BTS as a whole is. I think it's stupid to talk of imaginary situations like "if this hadn't happened.." because things do happen, they did happen, so I usually don't talk like that but I'll make an exception now; if Jimin hadn't been part of BTS, I swear BTS would've turned out to be really pathetic men like suju or even bigbang. AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL.

I link that tweet because it's been doing its rounds since yesterday, but there are more examples to what I'm trying to convey; giving gifts, the skinship and the physical affection.

Jimin simply by unapologetically being himself did so much for them as people and also for the group as a whole and more than anything for the perception the public had of them.

We can't really see who's in the ambulance, but you can see both Chimney running to the front seat, and I think I spotted Hen too.

I'm pretty positive, Chimney is calling for Eddie, who probably froze in place like Buck did in 4x14 outside the hospital, to join them. (If you recall, in 2x18, all three get on the ambulance with Buck after the explosion)

Chimney's call for Eddie sounded to me more like calling him to join them rather than "the stay with me" tone.

And as you said, Eddie has already had his fatal injury in 4x14 and healing story, supported by Buck in s5b, so I doubt he will be the one hurt badly this time.

My theory is that if Buck is hurt by the current of the lightning climbing up the aerial his heart will probably stop, so that could be traumatic for Eddie and could lead him to freeze as Buck is taken to the ambulance.

It took me a second to warm up to coma!Buck at first, but now I wholeheartedly believe it is the right time for it. I can't wait to see how this plays out!!

A/N: I’m feeling inspired and had this on my mind for a while, and Jesse babyboy deserves something of his own! My second entry to the BTS Challenge by @cursebreakerfarrier​ her OC Aloysius also makes a small appearance 

Summary: Jesse is not by any means academic, but when it comes to animals, he always has the upper hand 

It was eight in the morning and many were not in the mood to be among filthy animals, but this was not Jesse’s case. He was more than happy to apply his studies on hippogriffs today. 

As usual, Professor Falcon seemed like he had the greatest night’s sleep and explained the basics of hippogriff care. Some of those facts he was aware, but he wasn’t of others. 

“Well, who wants to say hello to her? If she likes you, you get to name her!” 

Aloysius Breitling smirked and approached cockily the hipogriff, who snarled at him and tried to bite him. He screamed and ran away, making many laugh. That wasn’t very encouraging to them. Professor Falcon shook his head “Not the best way to treat a lady, Breitling. Anyone else?” 

Jesse gulped and slowly approached the imposing creature, and kept a safe and respectful distance and bowed, trying not to fall over and have his limbs eaten up. He looked up and slowly approached her again “S-Snarl at me if I’m crossing a line, a-alright?” He whispered and bowed again. The hipogriff approached the blonde boy and sniffed him, and he stood quiet as he allowed her to analyse him and lifted his hand “I am going to stroke you. I-is that alright to you?” He slowly raised it, and allowed her to sniff his hand before made a chirup and he stroked her, then when she looked like she had enough, he bowed again. Many were in awe with his skill and started to whisper. He took a deep breath and when he looked up, the hipogriff was in a position that allowed him to mount her. With a small curtsy, he mounted her and she took flight. Jesse whooped and flied across the lake and on the Towers of Hogwarts, and many on class went to look at the shy and quiet Seymour boy mounting the fesity hipogriff that didn’t allow anyone near her. He laughed and embraced the freedom of the sky and drove her to the class again, where the majority of the class clapped and he dismounted, giving her a treat and she made a gesture of kissing his cheek and he laughed “I had fun too.” 

Professor Falcon patted Jesse’s back and smiled “Well it seems like you tamed this rather feisty girl! What shall you name her?” 

Jesse gave it a thought before smiling “Ember.” 

“A beautiful name! Ember it is. Do you like it, girl?” 

The gigantic bird emmitted a pleased sound and both smiled “It was a nice ride, Ember.” 

Many students approached him, asking him about his tactics as some friends of Breitling glared at him or looked at him, but he chose to ignore it and enjoyed this victory lap.
